Automobile exhibition in Geneva. Geneva Wind of Change: Trends at the World's Leading Motor Show

15.07.2019

During the Geneva Motor Show, we found out three important and interesting things: how large auto concerns plan to get along with Russia, in which direction the accents of the model lines of brands are shifting, and according to what principles the cars that we will have to drive in eight to ten years are already being created

The debate about whether car shows are necessary in the age of the Internet continues. Reasonable arguments are available both from supporters of holding large car dealerships, and from their opponents. I count myself among the first.

First of all, I am convinced that no photo or video can replace live, direct contact with a brand new car, when you can sit in it, touch it, feel it, customize it for yourself (and this is what a future buyer goes to exhibitions for). In addition, only on such forums there is a chance to see everything at once - both the existing model lines of brands, and new items, and promising concepts, and even compare them immediately with competitors. Finally, only at car dealerships do we - journalists - have the opportunity to meet with the bosses of auto concerns who have come from all over the world and ask them (sometimes face to face) about everything that interests them. All this was fully confirmed by the current Geneva Motor Show.

Strategic… luggage

It is known that if in one place it decreases, then in another it arrives. So it is in the automotive world, while the crisis in the Russian market and the demand for cars is falling, in other parts of the world, on the contrary, it is growing. So, it’s time to think about whether car manufacturers will lose interest in our country, whether they will consider Russians as second-class customers who can be offered simpler products, who can wait indefinitely for new items, or even not receive them at all? To be honest, there are already such calls: different brands refuse exhibitions in Russia, shrink their lineups, reduce quotas for Russian dealers, and sometimes leave the market altogether. So the questions about when, from whom and what other tricks to expect, alas, are not rhetorical, and we asked them to a variety of people.

I will say right away that the overall mood is still positive. Yes, the interlocutors note, now is not the best time to work in your country - exchange rates are rising, real incomes of buyers are declining, there are political risks and it is impossible to plan anything far ahead, but at the same time, Russia has always been and remains a key market, and in the future we expect it to rise. Although there is often no talk of any specifics, mostly top managers of firms try to speak in a streamlined way.

Perhaps only Philippe Saillard, who until recently headed Russian business Nissan, which has now become the brand's vice president for Eastern Europe, is ready to name the numbers. He believes that already in 2020 the volume of sales of new cars in our country should reach at least 2.5 million, and maybe even 3 million, after which Russia will again begin to claim the title of the largest market on the continent. “Therefore, - says Mr. Sayyar, - our task for today is to survive, even losing some money, but to wait for the growth of demand. We have invested a lot of money in our production facilities in St. Petersburg, Izhevsk and Tolyatti and do not intend to give up all this. The conclusion is clear: Russian market priority for Nissan.

Direct speech

Arthur Martins, Vice President of Marketing, Kia Motors Europe

In 2015 the dynamics Kia sales in Europe almost coincided with the average market: if on the continent as a whole the demand for new cars grew by 8.9%, then our sales increased by 8.8% - we sold 385 thousand cars. Moreover, our brand has been demonstrating growth for seven years in a row, this is a unique case for Europe. In addition, we have the highest rate of attracting customers who have previously bought cars of other brands. This is achieved due to the fact that in a short period of time both the quality of the Kia product and its perception by consumers have changed dramatically. This has its own explanations. We achieved a bright, original design thanks to Peter Schreyer, who has been leading this direction for several years. And if we talk about quality, then our company has a truly unique management structure at the global level. The head responsible for quality in Hyundai-Kia reports directly to the president of the group of companies - he is on the same level with the heads of both brands and does not depend on them in any way. Therefore, it can simply block the launch of a new product if it considers that something in the quality component does not suit it.

Perhaps a whole network of factories that produce almost the entire range of Japanese brand cars now sold in the country is a really serious argument, you can’t just throw off such “luggage” from a cart. But what do those companies think that seem to have nothing to lose? First of all, premium brands, whose business in other parts of the world is already doing well.

As it turned out, they have a similar position in Russia. So, Finbar McFall, Product Director Jaguar Land Rover in the world, says that last year global sales of these brands grew by 5%, and in January 2016 they jumped by a record 24%. Best of all, things are going in the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Italy ... According to the interlocutor, all this is due to a balanced range of models, which is updated and expanded annually. So, during 2015, the Jaguar XE and XF were launched, and now the Jaguar F-Pace and Range Rover Evoque are being prepared for launch in a convertible body.

I ask whether these two novelties will appear on the Russian market. “Of course,” Mr. McFall replies immediately, “and very soon, in the summer.” Then he continues with confidence: “Despite the current difficulties, we consider Russia as one of the most important markets of strategic importance. Therefore, we are constantly expanding our product line in your country, introducing new models. We understand that if you leave now, it will be extremely difficult to return. And this point of view is confirmed by our investments. In particular, last autumn we opened a unique Jaguar Land brand center near Moscow. Rover experience, through which more than 6 thousand people have already passed, such an experience is extremely important for the company. We intend to continue investing in your country.”

Well, such an approach commands respect. I think it will be appreciated both by the clients of the two British brands and by everyone who is somehow connected with the car market.

peep the future

The Geneva Motor Show is famous for the fact that there are always a lot of concept cars within its walls. At this Swiss exhibition, manufacturers like to throw "trial balloons" - to show cars that will subsequently either go into series, or share this or that notion with other models, or maybe sink into oblivion if they do not find understanding among the public. But what is the internal “kitchen” of this process? How and why is another concept born? What do companies achieve when they decide to spend money on it? We also dealt with such issues with the help of specialists.

The first thing that every person sees is the appearance of the car. Yasushi Nakamuta, head of Mazda Motor Corporation concept car design, agreed to discuss this aspect with us. “Unfortunately,” he shares, “there are no templates with which to form trends for the future. Therefore, every designer must understand that he is the author of new trends. Here we are working in two directions. The first is history, we look at what important things happened in the past that seriously influenced fashion, technology, tastes, we analyze causes and effects. The second is the study of modern technologies, materials that can influence future development. The concept of "the concept of beauty" implies that there is something beautiful, but the achievement of this beauty happens differently every time - new technologies, new opportunities appear. For example, once there were simple incandescent lamps in the headlights, then they made xenon, now they are LEDs, and in the future something else will appear. Another important modern factor is the Internet. We live in the digital age, and this greatly affects even the style. So car design is a kind of fusion of art, technology and, of course, business.”

Direct speech

Yasushi Nakamuta, Head of Concept Car Design at Mazda Motor Corporation

In recent years, the process of creating new cars at Mazda has changed a lot. Whereas before, engineers had a set of requirements that designers had to adapt to, now designers come up with designs first, and then set tasks for designers and engineers. In our company, everyone understood how strongly design affects the level of consumer interest in the product, that it is it that largely determines the DNA of the brand. This means that engineers and technologists should not be allowed to dictate conditions unconditionally. But this does not happen everywhere - as far as I know, colleagues from other car brands so far they cannot boast of such victories. Although we had many disputes and battles. One of the reasons for this "seizure of power" Mazda designers is that the new models began to turn out wonderful, and therefore the engineers simply had nothing to oppose us. After all, if the car is beautiful and customers want to get it, then everyone in the company wants to quickly build it and bring it to the market - there is not even a reason to argue.

As for the tasks in each specific case, Mr. Nakamuta explains this using the example of his own projects. He once led the creation of the Mazda Ryuga concept car, which he considers a “lesson car” for himself, and then developed the Shinari concept. Each model had its own purpose. In the first case, it's just a desire to show a bright, unbanal design, to find ways to develop it within the brand. The next time it was required to create a show car as close as possible to the finished product. By the way, an illustrative example of just such work is the Mazda CX-3 crossover - a car that began to roll off the assembly line, almost completely adopting the features of the prototype.

The fact that in the automotive business you should think about the future not even 5-10, but sometimes 20-25 years ahead, is also told by Jaguar Land Rover Product Director Finbar McFall, at a meeting with whom Avtopanorama became the first The media who learned about one of the unusual offers for the clients of this company (see sidebar). However, all participants in the global auto industry live by such rules.

Arthur Martins, Vice President of Marketing, told us about his approach to promising developments Kia Motors Europe. “Today we see three main trends,” he explains. - The first is that both in terms of design and body types there will be a further interweaving of familiar segments, new models will appear, as it were, between classes. We already have such a definition in the company as CUV, this is a cross between a hatchback and a crossover, and the model Kia Niro, which we presented in Geneva, is precisely the representative of this new “intersegment”. Customers want variety, and how more choice bodies, motors, gearboxes, complete sets, the better. The second trend, which concerns all automakers in Europe, is the electrification of cars: the legislation requires already in 2020 to have an average exhaust of no more than 95 g/km CO2 for the model range. Therefore, everyone, including Kia, is actively working on the development of hybrids, electric vehicles, models on fuel cells. Finally, the third vector is autopilots, driving without drivers. Our brand plans to launch such a vehicle by 2030, but we are already testing these technologies in different regions of the world - in Korea, in Europe and in the United States.

Direct speech

Finbar McFall, Director of Product Jaguar Land Rover Worldwide

In the auto industry, manufacturers have to think decades ahead, and there are many aspects. First of all, when we think about new products, we analyze what kind of body we need, what size, at what price. The second is what should be inside the car: what technologies to integrate into the car, to what extent it should be in “direct communication” with a person, what can be convenient for the client. We are constantly studying what our customers need in addition now, and what they may need in the future. That's how it appeared on Jaguar models four-wheel drive, and autonomous driving will be offered at a later date, which we are currently working on. As for new products, we are preparing to use the development of Tile - a small piece of plastic with an energy-efficient Bluetooth transmitter and a miniature battery. Such a “tag” can be attached to a phone, to a case for glasses, to documents, and if combined with our InControl system, the car will recognize the owner itself and, say, flash its headlights when you approach. Although there is a practical meaning. For example, the car will be able to tell the owner that he forgot his passport or laptop if they are “covered” by such gadgets. By the way, you are the first journalist in the world to whom we talk about this project in our cars.

Did you order a cocktail?

The variety and interweaving of segments, which Mr. Martins from Kia is talking about, we could see with our own eyes at the Geneva stands. For example, in several models at once, engineers tried to cross two such seemingly dissimilar classes as convertibles and crossovers. It turned out interesting - here you have a Range Rover Evoque without a roof, and the Volkswagen T-Cross Breeze concept, and a hipster Citroen E-Mehari. Although there were quite a few roadsters and convertibles without them - new models were brought by Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Fiat ...

At the same time, the exhibition clearly traced the line of meeting today's demands of the European clientele, both traditional, well-established, and corresponding to fashion. The first include a considerable selection of station wagon cars, the second - an even richer assortment of various crossovers and SUVs.

Yes, station wagons, which the Russians did not like, are still in favor with residents of other countries of the Old World, and it is by no means accidental that they announced in Geneva that the Opel Astra Tourer was recognized as the “Car of the Year” in Europe. I think that next time a galaxy of current exhibition novelties in the station wagon body will be able to compete for this title - the perfectly balanced Kia Optima SW, the elegant Volvo V90, the practical Fiat Tipo.

Direct speech

Philippe Saillard, Vice President of Nissan Eastern Europe

Crossovers and SUVs are the trend of the times, they are chosen by the modern generation of motorists. At the same time, large, real SUVs are leaving, and crossovers are increasingly replacing them. Another important trend is the decline in the share of sedans, which is also understandable: my father most likely will not buy a crossover, and my sons are unlikely to ever buy a sedan. And it is no coincidence that a similar picture can be observed both in Europe and in Russia - in the Nissan range, the most popular models are Qashqai, X-Trail, Juke. And here Teana sedan we have withdrawn from the Russian market and, I think, will not return. I believe this segment will be "eaten" by premium brands that can simplify the configuration of their business sedans, reduce prices and thereby lure customers away from mass brands like ours. Therefore, it does not make sense for us to produce such a car in Russia.

However, no segment is yet able to compete in popularity with crossovers. At the motor show it was not easy to find a stand where among the premieres (at least European ones) there were no representatives of this class. And here are intertwined well-known for their SUV brands, and brands that are taking only the first steps in this field. Judge for yourself, on the one hand, Peugeot 2008, Ford Kuga, Skoda Vision S, Toyota C-HR, SsangYong Tivoli XLV, Subaru XV Concept, Audi Q2, Opel Mokka X, on the other - Mazerati Levante, Tesla Model X, Seat Alteca. And this is not counting the models that have undergone refinement by designers or stylists of such brands as Land Rover, Nissan, Lexus, Suzuki, Honda ...

From such an abundance of eyes just run up. And I want Russian dealers to have all these cars. The word is right, we deserve it.

Internal combustion engines gave battle to alternative drives. Geneva Motor Show 2016-new items amazed by liters. Savings, at low prices for gasoline, are no longer sticking out. Emotion awakens power.

Video with girls at the end of the article.

Over a hundred new products - from extreme sports cars to ultra-efficient models, while we would like to increase the share of cars "for everyone". Eh, Lada would have brought her new products to the Geneva Motor Show 2016 - and, alas, the sensation did not work out.

And yet, one Russian car from “not for everyone” arrived at the Geneva Motor Show 2016 - under the BR brand. The hint should be understood in such a way that with the money of Boris Rotenberg, French designers built a car for many hours of racing.

Concept BR: Vitaly Petrov will drive the 2016 long race season in this car. Nine stages including the long Le Mans. Our rider, our team, our BR.

All the power of a Lamborghini! And the updated Huracan.

In a crisis, as you know, expensive cars are bought, so the Bugatti Chiron, which this summer will replace the Veyron, has become the king of the salon.

Bugatti Chiron: They made the best feel better.

Bugatti Chiron: The most powerful, fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive production sports car in the world.

In the shadow of the Bugatti in Geneva, you can find a whole range of cars: for example, the Aston Martin DB11, Jaguar, Porsche Boxster-Cayman combined in the 718 line and Fiat Spider.

It doesn't smell like an alternative drive here.
Today, money is made on internal combustion engines, only they guarantee the survival of any brand. And it is better to produce them in millions of pieces.

How do you like Duster? This time there were no girls in blue skirts around him - economy. But I still measured the ground clearance - at the Opel stand near the small Mokka SUV (one girl agreed to help).

But which ones are valued by customers today can be understood from the list of premieres. SUVs, sedans upper class and powerful supercars stand in the spotlights. BMW is showing the M760Li, Mercedes is showing the C-Class Cabrio, Audi is showing the RS Q3, not to mention Bugatti, Ferrari and Lamborghini. Way to 12 cylinders!

Europe is beginning to remember those times when gasoline was cheap and the car just beautiful.

Of course, there are also electric cars, they are talked about, but, as it turns out, they do not buy much. Hyundai, with its Öko-Style Produkt Ioniq, is one of the exceptions, proving the pattern above.

Reason: the buyer has not matured. Skepticism outweighs.
And why, in fact, be surprised? If the proposed…

… electric cars are still (almost) expensive, have low mileage, and sometimes just plain ugly.

The market segment for electric vehicles is still vanishingly small, wealthy Californians and subsidized Norwegians are the only ones willing to drive them. In addition, fuel prices have plummeted.

Against this background, it was interesting to hear new strategy creators of the people's car. The leaders of the Volkswagen group at a night meeting with journalists assured that by 2025 they would drop the driver from behind the wheel. The car will drive on the orders of the owner, count on the machine. No, sorry, I want to drive myself!

It is no coincidence that the poster of the Geneva Motor Show 2016 shows a long and sporty hood. And this is exactly what the client wants (or dreams) to see in his garage!

Pagani-Huayra: admire this masterpiece, oh sorry, it's time to run through the stands.

Here are sports cars, there are "economy" - between them in Geneva there is a niche, perhaps only for one more
segment: SUV. Manufacturers such as Seat and ... Maserati with the Levante model have now taken up this class. But what about the usual utilitarian models? Well, here, at least a 5-door Fiat Tipo, VW Up facelifts or Citroen DS3. Of the more prestigious, I will name the Kia Optima and Volvo S90 station wagons, the family “barn” based on the new Audi A4, and even the European premiere of the Mercedes E-class, already shown in Detroit.

Do you feel the difference between the Land Cruiser and the Toyota of the future?

We run on the stands

Alfa Romeo Giulietta, exhibited on the podium in Geneva, has now become closer to the famous Giulia model (I will add a photo tomorrow). The hexagonal grille with historic logo, as well as the new front bumper, give the Giulietta a sportier look. The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce, the sportiest of the trim levels, looks, however, even more dynamic.

Alfa Romeo Giulietta

In the interior, sporting motifs are continued in a purely Italian style. In the Veloce, for example, the bowl-shaped sports leather seats carry Alfa Romeo lettering embroidered in red on the headrests. The standard equipment of this version also includes a leather steering wheel with red stitching, carbon fiber instrument cluster and door trim. In addition to this top-end configuration, there is also just Giulietta and Giulietta Super, 4 equipment packages (Veloce, Business, Comfort, Sicht) and 8 engines. In Giulietta, the Italians for the first time combined a 1.6 JTDm 16V turbodiesel with a TCT box (DSG analog) by marriage. With this unit, it accelerates to 195 km / h and accelerates to hundreds in 10.2 s. And if you do not strive to check these indicators, then you can meet the consumption of 3.9 liters of fuel per 100 km. This motor develops 120 hp. at 3750 rpm. and produces a torque of 320 Nm already from 1750 rpm. Direct injection common rail with hydraulic control valves provides particularly precise dosing of fuel supplied to the cylinders.
In addition, for Alfa Romeo Giulietta, you can choose one of 4 petrol engines with a capacity of 120, 150, 170 or 240 hp. (the latter only in Veloce). The double clutch of the Alfa Romeo TCT box allows, in addition to automatic mode, manual gear shifting. Since the box works like a sequential one, it is enough to push the selector lever forward or backward, or use the paddles on the steering wheel. With a separate switch, the driver can also select one of three dynamic modes, influencing the logic of the gearbox, response to the gas and brake pedals, engine characteristics, electronic differential lock and traction control system.

Audi RS Q3 Performance in Geneva added 27 hp (there are now 367 of them in total), which, together with a torque of 465 N∙m, allows you to accelerate to a hundred in 4.4 s. At the same time, the maximum speed is 270 km / h (and not 250, as was once agreed between German companies), and fuel consumption is only 8.6 l / 100 km. For this, braking energy recovery and a start-stop system are used.

It is important that the maximum torque is already reached from 1650 rpm. Gears are handled by a 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch automatic with manual paddle control. In Modus Dynamic mode of the Audi system drive select switching is accompanied by automatic intermediate regassing. If desired, you can order a chassis lowered by a couple of centimeters with adjustable shock absorbers.
The distribution of traction between the wheels occurs automatically and for each of them separately.
The base price of the novelty is 61,000 euros, the start of sales is the second quarter.

Audi Q2 - world premiere.

Bentley Mulsanne

Bentley updated his Mulsanne with the addition of the Mulsanne Speed and Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase versions. In the latter case, the wheelbase is increased by a quarter of a meter, which allows you to freely stretch your legs on the back sofa, there are even special retractable “heel pads” and a glass roof - sunbathe - I don’t want to!

And the Speed version is tailored for ambitious drivers who love fast driving, Russians, I guess. Power 537 hp and a torque of 1100 N∙m will accelerate such a Bentley to hundreds in less than 5 seconds, moreover, at a speed of 305 km / h they will definitely not catch up with you!

Compare: in the regular and extended versions, the strength is "only" 512, the newtonometers are "only" 1020, and the maximum speed is not impressive - the "pathetic" 296 km / h.
The attentive reader will also note that the design of the front end is completely updated: nothing from the old iron will fit in the replacement! The entertainment and information system was also replaced.

VIP passengers will now be offered a removable Android tablet with a diagonal of 10.2 inches with all types of wireless communication: LTE, WLAN and Bluetooth.

BMW-760Li-xDrive

New bmw The M760Li xDrive sets the bar for the successful launch of the 7 Series family in the luxury sports sedan segment. With 12-cylinder M Performance engine TwinPower Turbo in 600 hp it accelerates to hundreds in 3.9 seconds, consuming an average of about 12.6 liters of gasoline. But with the maximum speed, everything is difficult. In fact, it is electronically limited to 250 km / h, but if you really want ... You can order the M Driver's Package and then for a fee this threshold will be raised to 305 km / h. Moreover, this speed is limited artificially. I wonder if it is possible to pay extra and check where the overclocking limit really is?

And what is this new word in the Bavarian language iPerformance? From now on, this term will denote the top electric and hybrid models of the company. For example, under the hood of the new BMW 740e iPerformance is a modest-looking ... "four" with a double supercharger plus an electric motor, so general power the unit reaches 326 hp. This allows you to manage only 2.1 liters of gasoline per hundred. For the FIRST hundred mileage, while there is still enough energy in the battery to drive with zero fuel consumption. This well-established marketing technique should be understood as follows: if you are going to go somewhere close, within 100 kilometers, you will hardly need gasoline. But then you have to stand at the outlet, or come to terms with the quite usual appetite for the seven.

Another Geneva premiere is the BMW M2 Coupé, featuring extroverted dynamic design and suitability for circuits like the Nürburgring. By the way, a whole package of M Performance Parts borrowed from motorsport has been developed for it, making the car even closer to the term “car”.

Citroen Space Tourer

Citroen brought a Space Tourer to Geneva. It will replace the Jumpy and is built in cooperation with Toyota. Space Tourer will be produced in three different lengths and in four trim levels. New will be a short version with a length of 4.6 m, focused on family use. It can accommodate 9 people or 2 cubic meters of cargo. At the same time, a height of 1.9 m allows you to drive into ordinary underground parking lots. New motors up to 180 hp promise to set an example for others in terms of economy. In particular, the BlueHDi 115 Stop&Start version with 6-speed manual consumes only 5.1 l/100 km. A set of electronic assistants is more typical for modern cars.

Citroen Space Tourer

In addition to the premiere of the serial SpaceTourer, Citroën also showed a colorful concept 4 × 4 SpaceTourer Hyphen. His name from the English "hyphen" seems to connect the family and the group of friends, van and SUV, city and village. The image of the novelty was developed by ... the French musical pop group Hyphen Hyphen from Nice. In addition to bright contrasting colors, the concept can take you to hard-to-reach places thanks to the all-wheel drive Dangel. "Under the hood" diesel BlueHDi 150 Stop & Start with 6-speed mechanics. Each wheel has five elastic belts, which, like chains, further increase the flotation.

Citroën E-Mehari

Citroën also brought to Geneva the E-Méhari concept, "painted" by Courrèges fashion studio. The Citroën E-Méhari is a 4-seat electrically powered convertible. Modern and green car, which gives pleasure and radiates creativity, freedom and optimism.
Responsible designers Courrèges, Jacques Bungert and Frédéric Torloting, "believe in the prospect of a 'crossover' between creative fields as diverse as fashion and the automobile" and therefore gladly accepted the Citroën Design Center's offer to contribute to the development of an "airy" concept car, not devoid of , however, practicality.

Chevrolet

Geneva Motor Show 2016 introduced the new Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport. Using the Stingray Z51 engine (a naturally aspirated 460-horsepower 6.2 V8), the Grand Sport received a wide body, ceramic brakes, wide tires version of the Z06.

Ferrari GTC4 Lusso

Ferrari brought to Geneva his vision of the Gran Turismo: the GTC4 Lusso. It is designed to guarantee the driver pleasure everywhere: on the track, on the journey, including in the snowy Nordic countries. The 6.3-liter 12-cylinder engine produces 690 hp under the boundless hood. at 8000 rpm. (imagine what a sound!), and 80% of the maximum torque of 697 N∙m is already available from 1750 rpm. The characteristics of the car weighing 1.8 tons are impressive: 3.4 seconds and 335 km / h.
The car used all-wheel drive 4RM-S (53% traction on the rear wheels), electronically controlled shock absorbers and differential, as well as rear wheel thrusters. The handcrafted interior is dominated by a 10-inch high-definition display.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles

Willys-Overland MB 1941

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles remembered the 75th anniversary of Jeep in Geneva and brought three rarities on this occasion: Willys-Overland MB 1941, Willys-Overland Station Wagon 1946 and Jeep Wagoneer originally from 1963. And as a novelty, he presented to the public a special anniversary version of the Jeep Renegade 75th Anniversary. It is painted in a special green hue, bears anniversary plaques and, most importantly, has exclusive equipment and trim in the cabin. The main thing is to hurry up and have time to order one of the 8000 anniversaries.
It runs on gasoline with a 1.4 Turbo MultiAir II engine (170 hp), a 9-speed automatic transmission and an Active Drive 4 × 4 all-wheel drive system on all four 18-inch wheels.
Another hero of the day is the Wrangler 75th Anniversary, also green with a powerful 3.6-liter V-shaped six under the hood. The package also includes rear differential high friction, premium audio navigation and a double convertible hard and soft roof.
Jeep Cherokee 75th Anniversary - gloss black with new 2.2 MultiJet II turbodiesel (200 hp), two-stage Jeep Active Drive II 4x4 all-wheel drive system, leather seats and 21.3 cm monitor. From above, all this magnificence is covered by a panoramic glass roof.
And finally, slate black Jeep Grand The Cherokee 75th Anniversary is equipped with a 3.0 V6 MultiJet II turbodiesel (250 hp) with an 8-speed automatic. The suspension of the anniversary flagship is pneumatic Quadra-Lift with five clearance settings and driving modes.

Geneva Motor Show 2016: FIAT is a small SUV

Ford added a good 10% power and 20% torque to the Fiesta ST, added it to the 200 index and posted the result in Geneva. The redesigned 1.6-liter turbo engine now produces, as you might guess, 200 hp. and a torque of 290 N∙m. Moreover, in Overboost mode, you can get another 15 horses and 30 newton meters from it for a time of 20 seconds! And then you will go from the traffic light to a hundred in 6.7 seconds, but in general you can accelerate up to 230 km / h, if the rights are not expensive. The gear ratios are chosen a little shorter, main gear became 4.06 instead of 3.82, and the steering became sharper. Well, where on such a car without Recaro sports seats! True, for such agility you will have to pay 15 mm less clearance.

Ford Kuga with a new 1.5-liter turbodiesel could be called a world premiere if it had not been lit up a little earlier at the non-core electronic exhibition Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. And all because of the latest Ford SYNC 3 voice communication system. Actually, it is not only voice, but also gesture, so waving your hands on the go is more careful. Well, in Geneva, of course, the new TDCi turbodiesel is more interesting for us. It produces 120 hp. and replaces under the hood the previous 2-liter engine of the same power, which saves about 5% of fuel.

4 copies of the Ford GT mark the return of the company to the 24-hour race at Le Mans. Exactly 50 years after the legendary triple victory of the Ford GT40.
The Ford GT has such a limited production run for good reason: its ultra-light carbon-fiber chassis is too expensive for a large series. Equally exclusive are variable aerodynamics and a heavy-duty version of the EcoBoost turbo engine.

Honda brought a prototype of the future 5-door Civic, which should appear in European showrooms early next year.

And the hydrogen Clarity Fuel Cell is already celebrating its European premiere in Geneva.

And this is not a concept, but a serial sedan, the entire alternative drive of which fits under the hood, which could not be done before. The range between refueling of the novelty reaches 700 km.

In addition, the start of European sales of the NSX supersport car has been announced. The novelty features a lightweight body and a new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. Moreover, as many as 3 electric motors and a 9-speed DSG gearbox are hidden in it.

Hyundai promises to please with the new Ioniq model. It is designed exclusively for alternative drive and is characterized by outstanding aerodynamic qualities.

Hyundai Ioniq will be produced in three versions: with a hybrid unit (HEV) with an appetite of less than 3.5 l / 100 km and a price of up to 30,000 euros, and purely electric (EV). A rechargeable Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) option will also be added later. The name Ioniq alludes to lithium-ion batteries or, if you prefer, simply ions - charged particles. The remaining two letters came from the word ‚unique‘ (unique). Those who are impatient could get acquainted with this novelty even before Geneva in Seoul. The same technique will be under the skin of sister brand Kia in the first Niro compact hybrid, as well as in a golf-class crossover.

Jaguar expanded the F-Type lineup with the even sportier top-of-the-line SVR. This two-seat sports car develops 322 km/h and will also be offered in a convertible body.

Kia performed in Geneva with three premieres - one world and two European. The first is the Optima Sportswagon, a wagon in sporty design. In dimensions, it differs from the sedan only in a height increased by 5 mm. There are 3 engines, petrol and diesel. There is also a high-speed GT version.

Optima Sportswagon

In contrast to the external dimensions, the luggage inside has naturally become more spacious: 553 liters can be placed behind the backs of the second row, which is 43 liters more than under the low trunk lid of a sedan. Of course, the rear sofa is folded in parts in a ratio of 40:20:40. If you need to transport a long piece, for example, skis, folding the right seats can still fit four. The tailgate is electrified and equipped with a sensor that responds to the driver's Smart-Key.

Optima Plug-in-Hybrid

New on a European scale is the Optima Plug-in-Hybrid (PHEV), the first of its kind from this Korean firm. In addition to the internal combustion engine, it has a 68-horsepower electric motor and a battery of 9.8 kWh of energy, which allows you to drive on electric traction up to 54 km at speeds up to 120 km/h. And the 2-liter petrol engine is quite modest, it has only 156 hp, but for a hybrid, the total power is important. And she is already over 200 hp. with a torque of 375 newton meters. In general, accelerate to hundreds in 9.4 s. For the sake of housing a lithium-ion-polymer battery, a spare wheel and part of the trunk had to be sacrificed, so that 307 liters were left for luggage. Reduced to 55 liters and the gas tank. Another interesting feature of the novelty is the active radiator grille. It opens to airflow only when needed, which otherwise reduces the aerodynamic coefficient by 0.02 compared to the conventional Optima.

The Kia Niro crossover is also a hybrid. It is powered by a 1.6-liter petrol engine with direct injection 105 hp and a 44 hp electric motor. The gearbox is a modern 6-speed dual clutch DCT. A rather long base (2.70 m) and short overhangs provide a spacious interior of the car with a total length of 4.36 meters. It occupies a niche between the Kia Sportage and Kia Cee'd.

Lexus uncovered a hybrid version of its LC luxury coupe for the first time. The LC 500h is equipped with the next generation of hybrid drive with a multi-speed gearbox.

Lexus LC. LC500h

The LF-FC concept car shows the design and technology perspectives for the firm's flagship sedan. True, this prototype could already be seen in Tokyo, where he rode on hydrogen and fuel cells, and sometimes even without a driver.

Maserati finally showed his first off-road vehicle in the history of the company, which will appear in showrooms in the spring. The signature style of the novelty is easy to guess even with a cursory glance from the side: three typical air outlets on the front fenders, a trapezoidal third pillar with a logo and large side windows without frames.

Maserati Levante

Behind everything reigns very strongly inclined glass and aerodynamic lines. The Maserati Levante combines off-road performance with good handling on difficult terrain and country roads. All versions are equipped with an adjustable air suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers, an intelligent Q4 all-wheel drive system and a specially tuned 8-speed automatic for this model.

Mazda brought the concept RX-Vision to Europe for the first time. Before Geneva, he lit up in Tokyo and attracted attention with his rotary engine and rear wheel drive. In Paris, the car received the title of the most beautiful concept of 2015.

Mazda booth

In addition, Mazda brought its “three” with a 1.5-liter Skyactiv-D 105 diesel engine, which is already familiar from the “two” and CX-3. In the Mazda3, this atmospheric engine consumes only 3.8 l / 100 km. Now this “four” will be offered for a sedan and hatchback. The i-stop start-stop system is included in the motor by default. Like the rest of the Skyactiv engines, the D 105 runs at a compression ratio of 14.8, which is pretty low for a diesel. Thanks to variable blade geometry turbocharging, innovative turbine speed control and integrated air intake tract intercooled, this motor provides a torque of 270 Nm in the range from 1600 to 2500 rpm. Interestingly, the maximum speed is limited to 5500 rpm, which is not typical for a diesel. Well, it’s more important for the driver, it’s likely that his Mazda3 will accelerate to hundreds in 11.0 seconds and pick up 186 km / h.

mercedes benz

mercedes concept

mercedes benz introduced the "Exclusive" version of the V-Class. It draws attention with a multitude of brushed aluminum elements, a large new center console with a fridge and thermoses for drinks and panoramic roof. The speakers of the Burmester Surround sound system caress your ears. True, all this (and much more) will cost at least 74,911 euros. Yes, I almost forgot: the new Mercedes-me-connect service will also allow you to communicate with vehicle systems directly from home or work, from a cafe or restaurant via PC, smartphone or tablet.

Mercedes E 200. Inside, in front of the driver, everything is almost the same as in the S-class. I don’t like this style - I don’t like excess visors.

Mitsubishi put his developments in the field of SUV, all-wheel drive and electric traction at the center of his exposition. However, those who follow car dealerships have already seen a lot. So the Concept-eX came here from Tokyo, the 2017 ASX from Los Angeles, the Space Star from Brussels.

Nissan played with colors and materials, showing Qashqai Premium Concept and X-Trail Premium Concept in Geneva.

Qashqai Premium Concept

The matte black Qashqai has a part body elements painted in gold. Added to this are carbon fiber parts and milled 20-inch wheels.
The seats are upholstered in soft white nappa leather. In the center of the backs and cushions there is a stitched finish. And in general, the cabin has a lot of elements of gold-painted carbon fiber, matte and glossy black lacquer.
The X-Trail Premium Concept is reminiscent of piano keys: the main body color is white, but the matte black bonnet and carbon fiber roof stand out. Not without golden hues here.

X-Trail Premium Concept

Opel presented in Geneva not just the Mokka facelift, but attributed the mysterious letter X to its name. From now on, it will be contained in the name of all crossovers and SUVs from Rüsselsheim.

Except external changes and the next generation of the infotainment system, a new 1.4-liter gasoline engine appeared in the car. 7- or 8-inch touchscreen displays made a lot of buttons and switches unnecessary. And the 1.4 Direct Injection Turbo engine, which was previously installed in the Astra, is tuned here for 150 hp. and works in combination with a 6-speed automatic, start-stop system and adaptive all-wheel drive. In addition, Mokka X received AFL-LED headlights (AFL = Adaptive Forward Lighting). They automatically adjust the light distribution to the traffic situation and have as many as 9 modes: urban, suburban, turning, for exits from the autobahn, Tourist-Modus for trips to countries with left-hand traffic (!), Parking and parking. The latter turns on, for example, when stopping at a traffic light to ... save energy, and therefore fuel. The Mokka X will go on sale in the summer.

Opel The GT Concept is the company's vision of the sports car of the future. It has no door handles or exterior mirrors. For what? Doors will open themselves, instead of mirrors - tiny video cameras. The power unit is surprising: it is a tiny 3-cylinder 1-liter engine that develops 145 hp thanks to supercharging. at a torque of 205 N∙m. This engine is shifted under the hood behind the front axle, so that it turns out, as it were, a mid-engine layout. And sporty dynamics is provided by a mass that does not even reach one ton. Therefore, acceleration to hundreds takes less than 8 seconds, and the maximum speed is 215 km / h. In tandem with the engine, a sequential 6-speed gearbox with paddles works, and even a rear axle with a mechanically lockable differential.

The windows in the car ... do not go down, but the transition from steel to glass is completely invisible. To open the doors from the outside, you need to press on the touch panel on the roof. And then the doors will swing open, partially crawling into the front wheel arches. This helps with getting in and out of tight parking spaces.

The Opel Astra TCR will also be a lure for motorsport fans. Its "modest" two-liter engine produces, however, 330 hp. and 420 N∙m, which get to the front wheels through a 6-speed racing sequential gearbox. When shifting down, re-gas is automatically performed. Yes, but what is TCR? It is short for Touring Car Racing.

Peugeot Traveler, celebrating its world debut here, makes a strong impression with stylish elements from the world of sedans and SUVs of this French brand. It exudes strength and elegance at the same time. The machine is built on the modular EMP2 platform, which guarantees quality, efficiency and record economy in its segment.
BlueHDi engines complying with Euro 6 standards are equipped with particulate filter and a urea-injected catalytic converter – the most advanced technology available today. Its motors give out power up to 180 hp. and torque up to 400 Nm. And fuel per hundred is consumed with only about 5.4 liters. The salon is flexibly configured to the needs of a particular buyer and can accommodate up to 9 riders. During crash tests under the Euro-NCAP program, this minivan received all 5 possible stars in December.

Peugeot 2008 has sold 515,000 copies since its introduction in 2013. Presented today in Geneva, the latest generation received a more brutal off-road design. The vertical grille, fender flares and engine protection underline its strength. And the existing Access, Active and Allure trim levels are complemented by the GT line.

The 2008 GT sits solidly on 17-inch rims, the chrome trim has been changed to black, and the stainless tailgate has been trimmed for an exhaust pipe. The car has a lot of all sorts of linings from the same stainless steel, aluminum, as well as other attractive decorations. The Mirror-Screen-function allows you to broadcast a picture from your smartphone display to a large car monitor, respectively, and you can click on icons on it, and not on a mobile phone that slips out of your hands.
The Active City Brake system reduces the severity of the consequences of a collision, Park Assist automates the parking process. The rear view camera shows the contours of the vehicle. A 1/3 or 2/3 folding rear sofa increases the luggage compartment from 410 to 1400 liters.
The power range of the offered motors extends from 82 to 130 hp, with the largest “herd” being driven into the smallest “stall” PureTech 130 with a volume of only 1.2 liters, at the gate of which the new 6-speed manual transmission meets the torque .
In order not to get hit by letters of happiness from the ubiquitous security cameras, there is a speed limit control under the left hand: set it to 60 and do not exceed it if you wish.
And on the other side of the steering wheel, you can choose one of the traction control modes: standard, snow, sand, country road, or “without ESP”. True, this is only for motors from 100 hp.
With automatic parking, it is enough to indicate to the robot along or across the sidewalk that you intend to stand up. Then he will find appropriate place and you just have to press the gas and brake pedals.

Porsche presented at the Salon with two world premieres. It's a 718 Boxster with a supercharged flat-four and a new design.

Porsche Boxster Cayman S

Oddly enough, but the signature sound of the exhaust suffered little from this. And downsizing - where would we be without it now! By removing a couple of “extra”, as it turned out, cylinders, the minders from Zuffenhausen managed to increase power by 35 hp. Moreover, even two "fours" are offered: one 2-liter produces 300 hp, the other, 2.5-liter - as much as 350! Of course, turbocharging is used, and even with variable blade geometry. This allows you to quickly unwind from low speeds. In addition, special valves were also used in the channel to the turbine. That's just because of the high exhaust gas temperature compared to a diesel engine, the cunning turbine turned out to be painfully expensive.
And the client should be completely charmed by the novelty's torque of 380 N∙m, which is a whole hundred more than that of the "six"!
In the interior, they clearly adhered to the principle "the best is the enemy of the good." The ingenious seats remain, but the keyboard from the center console has disappeared: now it is right on the steering wheel.
With Launch Control, the 718 S accelerates to hundreds in 4.2 seconds. Albeit with a slightly different sound. Another feature released in Geneva: 7:42 minutes. That's how much a 718 S needs to complete a lap on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife.

Porsche Boxster Cayman S

In addition to two 718s, the company brought an exclusive small-circulation car, which was declassified only at a press conference on March 1.

Renault brought the Mégane Grandtour compact station wagon as the world premiere of a sporty look. Its strengths are excellent space for 5 riders and a modular cabin. By maximum length of the transported cargo the novelty is the best in its class. The Mégane Grandtour GT will make its debut in the compact class for the first time in the compact class with 4Control rear wheel steering. At low speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, giving the effect of a shortened wheelbase. This makes maneuvering and parking easier. As the speed increases, the rear wheels begin to turn in time with the front wheels, which improves stability on the road, increases pleasure during dynamic cornering.

Another Renault world premiere is the new Scénic.

He interprets the compact van class in a completely new way. Let's see if the 4th generation will be able to continue the success of the previous versions, which have sold around the world since 1996 in the amount of almost 5 million units.
For the first time in the segment, a panoramic windshield, divided into 3 (!) Parts, reminiscent of the Espace and giving excellent visibility, appeared in the car.
Compared to its predecessor, the ground clearance has been increased and the rear overhang has been shortened. The wheels have moved closer to its edges, spaced wider, which has improved the spaciousness of the cabin.

Rolls Royce

Rolls-Royce Black Badge

Skoda Vision S is a large SUV concept in Touareg format.

Its length is 4.7 m, in the cabin there are 3 rows of seats for 6 (not 7!) Seats. In general, the role of this concept is to show how the SUVs of the Czech company will look like in the future. So it makes sense not to go into a verbal portrait, but just look carefully at the photo. As for the internal content, the 1.4-liter engine produces 156 hp. and 250 Newtonometers. A little, but do not forget about the electric assistant, which adds another 54 hp if necessary. and as much as 220 newtonometers. These latter are transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed DSG box. In addition, another 116 hp electric motor sits on the rear axle. with a torque of 270 N∙m. All this amount of effort accelerates the novelty to hundreds in 7.4 seconds and further up to 200 km / h. And since the first 50 km can be driven without gasoline at all, only 1.9 liters will go a hundred!

ssangyong decided to lengthen his Tivoli SUV, which resulted in the addition of the XLV index and, of course, 235 mm overall length with the same wheelbase of 2.6 m.

Ssangyong Tivoli

Now the car has grown to 4.4 m. Has it become more spacious inside? Yes, really ... for suitcases! It was in the luggage compartment that almost the entire increase fell. By the way, this is not a new word in facelift, at one time they did exactly the same with the first generation KIA Sportage. So, behind the backs of the back row, you can now measure 720 liters of volume. From the other end, under the hood, nothing has changed: there are still the same 1.6-liter gasoline with 128 hp. or diesel in 115 hp engines.
Another world premiere is more interesting: the SIV-2 (Smart Interface Vehicle) concept, which is a further development of the SIV-1 shown here, but in 2013. Now the power unit consists of a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a 14 hp motor-generator powered by a 48 V lithium-ion battery. This hybridization has improved the smoothness of idling and at low speeds.

Smart: Geneva Motor Show 2016

Subaru staged the world premiere of the concept XV in Geneva. It features an original front end with a new grille and hawk-eyed headlights. Along with the concept, the facelifted serial XV is also presented.

Suzuki for the first time brought to Europe a new hatchback Baleno, built on a new, more rigid and lightweight platform.

Under the hood of the novelty is either a liter Boosterjet engine with direct gasoline injection, or a 1.2-liter Dualjet model. In the latter case, it can be supplemented, if desired, with the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) system with an integrated starter-generator that turns your car into a hybrid, in fact. allows you to accumulate braking energy for subsequent accelerations.

Toyota gave birth to the serial version of the C-HR concept. The compact crossover combined 5 doors, body design in the style of a coupe and an SUV at the same time.

Another novelty of the Japanese is Proace Verso. It was created in cooperation with the French from PSA and is a spacious van for 9 people and will be offered in three body lengths.

Volkswagen showed the facelift of his baby Up and the SUV concept. The first one received a new 90-horsepower gasoline engine in a top-end configuration. The range of body colors has been updated, the possibility of integrating smartphones has appeared, and the Up Beats version has acquired a 300-watt audio system from the American company Beats Audio.
The SUV concept is an application from Wolfsburg for a new line in the compact class, which is designed as a Lifestyle model. It has almost no mechanical switches, which is reminiscent of another concept: the Budd-e electric car.
Volkswagen Caddy TGI Blue Motion is also a world premiere, though not so much of the car itself as of the gas equipment in it. We are talking about compressed natural methane and a specially designed engine for it, working in combination with a 6-speed DSG gearbox. The appetite of the novelty does not exceed 4.1 kg / 100 km (4.3 for Maxi), which allows you to run 630 (860) km at one gas station. This is important, given that CNG filling stations are not as densely packed as gas stations. The cylinder is placed under the floor, so that cargo compartment not injured. A 13-liter petrol tank was also left for every fireman. The gas-oriented motor delivers 200 Nm of torque from 1500 to 3500 rpm. and power 110 hp In this case, the maximum speed is 172 km / h.

More news: renowned designer Giorgetto Giugiaro has left the Volkswagen Group. The German order and the work of the maestro turned out to be incompatible.

Matthias Müller (left) is now head of the entire great Volkswagen Group. On the evening of March 1, the first day of the exhibition, I saw him with a group of colleagues at dinner in a modest steakhouse. I wouldn't be surprised if he took a taxi to the hotel. The manufacturer of people's cars must be economical in everything.

Geneva Motor Show 2016 - the new auto industry from large and small internal combustion engines and gasoline capacities are rushing to electricity and digital technologies. But the buyer does not want to pay for such a prospect, which means that development must be planned from their own money, which is increasingly difficult to earn by producing original cars. Maybe, really, boring faceless automata are already waiting for us to carry along once planned routes? With my mind I understand this perspective, but with my heart I cannot agree. The car for me is still a symbol of freedom of movement. Let it not turn into an automaton, but rather become popular.

Video with girls below.

On March 1, the Geneva Motor Show 2016 opened today in Switzerland - one of the most prestigious auto shows in the world, it is here that manufacturers annually demonstrate the largest number of new products, concept cars and tuning projects.

Overview of interesting novelties of the Geneva Motor Show 2016.

Ford Kuga

1. New old acquaintance. One of interesting premieres Ford company at the exhibition in Geneva was the updated crossover Kuga.

2. The new Kuga has become longer - 4524 mm against the current 4443 mm. True, the cabin will not be noticeably more spacious anyway - the wheelbase has remained the same.

In Europe and the USA, the car will be equipped with an automatic parking system, the function of opening the tailgate with a foot (for this you will need to hold your foot under the bumper. In addition, there will be a multimedia system with the ability to access the Internet and the function of perceiving the driver's voice commands. What will happen in Russia - while talking early, because car sales will start in late 2016 or early 2017.

3. The new generation Ford Kuga will be sold in Europe with a 2.0-liter diesel engine that produces 140 or 163 hp, as well as gasoline unit EcoBoost family with a volume of 1.6 liters.

Italian Porsche Caen

4. Maserati presented its first serial crossover at the Geneva Motor Show, which was named after the warm Mediterranean wind - Levante. With him, the company intends to compete for buyers with such premium crossovers as Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5 and X6, as well as Mercedes-Benz GLE.

5. The base 350-horsepower Levante will reach 100 km / h in six seconds, and the 430-horsepower modification will need 5.2 seconds. These versions spend 10.7 and 10.9 liters of gasoline per "hundred". Diesel will spend 7.2 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h and spend 7.2 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km.

6. Interior:

Opel Mokka X

7. It is a pity that since 2016 the supply of Opel cars to the Russian market has been stopped, because the Opel Mokka X is a very nice and worthy car. The new Mokka is now trying to look more serious. The new “chip” of the exterior design was 2 sweeping “jackdaws” in the front and rear optics.

8. The central display with a diagonal of 7 or 8 inches looks the brightest inside. To have a chic display and advanced operating system were not in vain, Mokka was also endowed with the ability to access the Internet and connect to mobile devices.

9. Adaptive bi-xenon optics have been replaced with multi-mode LED, various radar safety and driver assistance technologies have been added, two new colors (orange and red). Such new Opel Mokka X, which we will not see. At least officially.

By the way, the demand for compact crossovers has tripled in the world over the past 10 years. Moreover, marketers assume that this segment will continue to grow.

Chinese supercar

10. Think it's an Italian supercar? No, it's Chinese! One of the most interesting exhibits of the Geneva Motor Show 2016 was a Chinese car from Techrules.

11. It uses a number of technologies patented by the Chinese under the general name TREV (Turbine Recharging Electric Vehicle), the main of which is the use of a gas turbine engine with a generator to charge a battery pack, which in turn feed six electric motors with a total power of as much as 1044 hp.

12. In electric car mode, a Chinese can drive 150 km, and with a full tank and charged batteries, 1,200 km. The racing modification can run on aviation kerosene and gasoline, and the road version can run on natural gas.

Up to 100 km / h, the Chinese supercar accelerates in 2.5 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 350 km / h. Fantastically low fuel consumption is promised - 0.18 l / 100 km. Lukoil is outraged.

Toyota C-HR: a crossover for young people

13. This is a production SUV Toyota C-HR, which has gone from concept to serial rival Nissan Juke with a hybrid power plant. It is designed to fill, finally, the gap formed as a result of the “growing up” of the RAV4 in model line companies and win back a part of the compact crossover market for the Japanese manufacturer.

14. Hints of sportiness - a sloping roofline, and "secret" rear doors, and a body kit. Perky and very youthful appearance. C-HR is another carrier of the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) modular platform, which debuted on the Prius. But another technical detail is much more remarkable - the Japanese endowed the SUV with the first hybrid power plant in the segment.

The machine is based on the TNGA platform, which is already hidden under a new generation Toyota Prius. From him, the C-HR received a 122-horsepower hybrid power plant with a 1.8 petrol and an electric motor.

Sports electric car DS E-Tense

15. DS - a brand recently separated from Citroen, she showed the E-Tense model at the Geneva Motor Show. This is a concept, and in this form the car will never go into production. But the fact that the French have begun to move in this direction speaks volumes.

16. The engine is electric, its power is 402 hp - quite a supercar performance. The car accelerates to 100 in just 4.5 seconds, and the top speed is 250 km/h. The creators claim that under some ideal conditions, the battery should be enough for more than 300 km!

The fastest car in the world

17. Bugatti Chiron - a new model of the company, received the unofficial title of the fastest road car on the planet.

18. The maximum speed of this hypercar is declared at the level of 420 km / h, and the power of the eight-liter W16 engine is breathtaking 1500 hp!

19. At the same time, the company plans to produce and sell 500 of these cars - a lot by the standards of hypercars. For comparison, created specifically for the 100th anniversary of the founder brands Lamborghini the slower, more affordable Centenario will be limited to 40 copies.

Lamborghini Centenario

20. It was built for the centenary of the birth of the founder of the company - Ferruccio Lamborghini. There will be only 40 of them, and all cars have already been sold out at a price of 1.75 million euros even before the official premiere at the Geneva Motor Show 2016.

21. 770 hp, over 350 km/h. The collection Lamborghini takes a “hundred” from a place in 2.8 s, picks up 200 km / h in 8.6 s, and only in acceleration to 300 km / h - 23.5 s.

22. Well, as an additional bonus - the possibility of interior decoration on an individual order. Although carbon fiber and alcantara in the cabin prevail in any case. The base also comes with a modern multimedia system with a 10-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay support, navigation, telemetry and a bunch of other trendy features.

Crossover Skoda VisionS

23. While this is a concept, and during the release of the series, the car will be called differently. Rumor has it that the first large crossover in the history of the Czech brand will be called Kodiak. There is no final clarity with the design. I would like to believe that Skoda chief designer Josef Kaban will be able to defend predatory forms and unusual optics.

24. The serial VisionS will hit Russia in 2017 and will definitely be more expensive than the less fashionable and roomy Yeti. It is possible that the initial versions will fall into the fork 2 - 2.2 million rubles. The “Koreans” Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento Prime cost about the same now, with which, with a wheelbase of 2790 mm and a length of 4700 mm, VisionS falls into the same niche.

Tricycle Morgan 3 Wheeler

26. Morgan 3 Wheeler is a tricycle, which is a copy of the model produced before 1953.

27. Under the hood is a 63 hp electric motor. (in the petrol version - 83 hp) and a battery pack with a capacity of 20 kWh. On one charge, the spectacular tricycle can travel 240 km. Serial production should begin before the end of the year. Estimated price - about 50,000 euros.

28. At today's exchange rate, this is about 5 million. Too much.

Aston Martin DB11

29. Brand new Aston Martin. Aston Martin DB11 is a further development of the famous DB9 model, which debuted 13 years ago.

30. Under the hood is a 5.2-liter V12 biturbo engine with a capacity of 608 hp. (torque - 700 Nm) - own development of the company, which is produced at the German plant of Ford. From standstill to 100 km / h, the DB11 accelerates in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 322 km / h.

31. Sales of Aston Martin DB11 will begin before the end of this year. Price - from 205 thousand euros.

BMW M760LixDrive

33. Another new old friend is the BMW 7 Series M760Li xDrive. This is the first "seven", which officially received the letter "M" in the name.

35. M760Li is equipped with a 6.6L V12. The same motor is used on Rolls-Royce. At BMW, they decided to limit its power to a level of 600 hp, observing subordination - on Rolls, it produces up to 632 hp. The BMW 7 Series accelerates from standstill to hundreds in 3.9 seconds, the “maximum speed” is traditionally limited to 250 km/h.

36. To whom it will seem slow, a special package will be offered - in this case, the limiter will work at 305 km / h.

Megabike LM847

37. Let's finish this small review Geneva motor show 2016 unusual technique. If you like Maserati, don't like 4 wheels and want to make a lasting impression, then there is a way out - to transfer to a bike with a Maserati engine from the French studio Lazareth.

"Wind of change" - this is how the Scorpions sang at the time of the collapse of the USSR, and the stands of automakers "sing" about it, the wind of change, at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016 ..

So, Geneva: the main automobile bride of Europe. The Geneva Motor Show has always set the vector for the development of the entire automotive industry in the coming years, and the 2016 show was no exception. You can read about the main premieres at, and we'll talk about where the wind of change is blowing. After the "diesel gate", the scandal with diesel Volkswagen engines, it became obvious to everyone: the days of traditional internal combustion engines are numbered even in Europe. European manufacturers frankly “slept through” worldwide hybridization: they claimed to the last that for low fuel consumption and small emissions into the atmosphere, a conventional diesel engine is enough, without complicating the design with electric motors. But recent events have put an end to traditional designs: the spring of 2016 showed that the automotive world has entered a new era. And it has no place for internal combustion engines.

This is how the layout of a car from the beginning of the 21st century looks like: a traditional engine in the front, a battery in the back. This scheme will not last long: as soon as the batteries appear large capacity and acceptable cost, the internal combustion engine under the hood will disappear. Apparently forever
Battery and fuel tank. So far, they peacefully coexist with each other, but this is a compromise solution. In the near future, the entire floor space of the car will be occupied by the battery

European concerns planned to bypass the “hybrid” versions and immediately switch to electric or hydrogen vehicles. But after the Volkswagen diesel scandal, everyone officially announced: we will say goodbye to conventional engines. And here European manufacturers found themselves in the role of catching up: the world leader in "hybridization" model range is Toyota, whose Prius has struggled with TDI, HDI and other European diesel engines since the late 90s. And in the electric train segment, Tesla is the leader.

Now Toyota has the widest line of serial "hybrids", there are station wagons, hatchbacks, city "kids". The concern's huge financial capabilities make it possible to produce some models at a loss: the main thing now is to test the technology and gain market share. What is happening: European taxi drivers are increasingly switching to hybrid Toyotas.

The C-HR crossover will also be a hybrid - a total of 122 hp, beware, Nissan Juke! The design of this model is definitely not dull.

As in the mid-90s, with super profits, Toyota is again one step ahead of the competition, while everyone is just starting to master hybrids, the Japanese are already selling the Mirai hydrogen car! The hydrogen future of cars is still a very big question, but the Japanese are one step ahead in this area. And confidently lead in the segment of hybrids.

Concept LF-FC is about to become a production model: the premiere of a large sedan is just around the corner

Big Lexus sedan exploits the “shark” style that has become familiar to the brand, and the appearance of the production model will not differ much from the prototype.

Apparently, in the segment big sedans The Germans will have to make room. But it's not just the Japanese growers who are taking the lead in hybridizing the entire planet: the Koreans are hot on their heels!

Meet the Hyundai Ioniq, the world's first car available in three versions at once: conventional hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric. The buyer can choose which option is closer to him - although the characteristics of the electric version are not impressive, the range is only about 170 km.

This is how the Hyundai Ioniq “gear lever” looks like: everything, the era of levers is gone

Very short range is the scourge of all "just" electric vehicles, and until fast-charging stations are built all over the planet, plug-in hybrid versions will rule the world. To work, from work - on electricity, on a long trip - on gasoline. Traditional motors, traditional body types are less and less in demand in developed countries: crossovers, vans and hybrid power plants, that's the global trend.

A litmus test that speaks of the future is the Mitsubishi stand: now it is in austerity mode, there are not enough funds, so it was decided not to develop the passenger range and conventional internal combustion engines, but to concentrate on SUVs and electricity. SUVs will help to maintain positions in the markets of developing countries, electric vehicles are intended for developed countries. Concept eX and SUV, and electric - two in one. The promised power reserve is about 400 km.

Tank cap of tomorrow

Absolutely everything has now gone into rechargeable hybrids: at each stand there was either a car ready for serial production, or already production model. Porsche, Range Rover, Volkswagen – everyone has plug-in hybrids.

Mercedes-Benz? Rechargeable hybrid! It is difficult to name a manufacturer that has not shown a novelty in this market segment.

Another global craze is driverless cars. Nissan claims that in a year its crossovers will "learn" to move independently, without the help of a driver. In fact, almost all premium cars now can do this. But in many countries, the legislation prohibits the operation of such machines, so the market will be limited at first. In California, “drones” are being exploited with might and main, and in a few years it is planned to fight for the taxi market: in the near future, not Uber will compete with taxi drivers, but robots.

The often-mentioned "downsizing" has not disappeared anywhere either: if the model did not have a rechargeable battery from the outlet, then it simply had a reduced engine size. They do this for a number of reasons. First, theoretically, fuel consumption and emissions are reduced. Secondly, by “playing” with the boost pressure and the engine control program, you can squeeze 3-4 versions of power out of one engine without changing anything in it globally. This is a cheap design. Thirdly, less volume - less weight, fewer materials - less production costs. Although the last statement is doubtful: "small" motors require the use of very expensive materials. But other things being equal, a block for a 1.0 engine is cheaper than a block for a 2.0 engine.

The debutant Porsche 718 Boxster is a typical representative of the era of "reduced" engines. 4 cylinders, turbocharged. Is that what you expected from Porsche?

Another trend that is clearly visible at the Geneva Motor Show: the rich don't cry now. They pay: sales of luxury brands are growing year by year. China, India, before certain events Russia: growth is mainly provided by "young" millionaires. Therefore, in the bright future of another premiere, Lamborghini Centenario, there is no doubt. Demand is. 770 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a limited edition of 40 cars, 20 coupes, 20 convertibles. , about which we have already, will also not suffer from a lack of demand: there is a lot of money in the world now.

Updated Bentley, extended versions, "autobiographical" versions: there are more than enough novelties in the luxury segment. Humanity is rapidly emerging from poverty - it is a pity that this statement does not apply to the Customs Union.

The new Quant model is also aiming at the “luxury segment”: on the wave of demand for “premium”, a lot of small manufacturers have appeared, ready to bite off their piece of this pie.

And what is happening in the mass segment? How does automotive Europe live now?

The same as always: Europeans still love the golf class, as evidenced by the sales figures and the Car of the Year award at the Opel Astra Motor Show.

But crossovers are also at the peak of popularity: around the main novelty of Audi, the Q2 model, there was nowhere for the apple to fall. His niche: "premium" similar to Nissan Juke, and, judging by the first reception, the success of the model is guaranteed. Crossovers, crossovers - by 2016 they have established themselves as body No. 1.

Skoda is about to start production of a large seven-seater Vision S crossover, Seat has shown its SUV version - without an SUV, the range of any manufacturer in the world is now unthinkable.

KIA Niro is a world premiere, crossover hybrid, the manufacturer places special hopes on the European market.

Even Indians have entered the crossover segment: with their Hexa model, they are trying their hand at the European market. Although it is hard to believe in the success of the brand.

Not the most noticeable, but important news is the debut of a joint "trinity" of large Toyota/Peugeot/Citroen vans. Pictured is a Citroen Space Tourer, but all three cars turned out well and harmoniously. Given the price, these will be serious competitors to the Volkswagen T6 series.

It is impossible not to notice the gradual drift of European firms into the premium segment: Ford announced the creation of the Vignale luxury brand, Citroen has been experimenting with its DS for a long time. Who are they afraid of? All the same - Asians. Representatives of the rice culture, as always, did not hesitate to study competitors at the auto show.

This guy in the photo took pictures of every seam, every detail of the BMW X4 door - and continued to explore the interior further, taking photos and notes in his notebook. Where is he from? China? Korea? There are about five such photographers with notebooks around each premiere. Year after year, they take pictures, record, and eventually Asian producers grow.

A simple example: Korean Hyundai. Who knew anything about this brand just 20 years ago? So, another company in the backyard of the automotive world.

Individual adjustment of each seat, massage and the list goes on: if you do not pay attention to the nameplate, the BMW 7 and Audi A8 have a serious competitor

But big sedan G90 is no worse than similar models from Europe. Therefore, in the less conservative American market, it will definitely be in demand. Koreans press, they are, perhaps, the main phobia of European manufacturers. But the Chinese have calmed down: they are not at the salon, just as there are no statements to conquer the Old World soon. The Chinese attack bogged down. Yes, and the Europeans are not born with a bast.

At the presentation Renault Scenic there was no crowding: the model is a landmark for Europe, Carlos Ghosn himself came to present it.

It is interesting and beautiful - that's what you can say about the Renault Scenic.

Renault Scenic showed another trend in the market: in automotive interiors firmly established a large tablet. Farewell, center console - now instead of you a big screen. Tesla set the tone, then everyone else follows suit: it seems that soon we will be discussing not interior design, but screen design.

From the same "screen" cars, the new station wagon volvo V90, inside which almost all functions are controlled via a large screen on the center console.

BMW M2 - aggression and passion in its purest form, three liters, twin turbo, 370 hp and 4.3 s to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.

Salon Alfa Romeo is breathtaking: nothing has changed, the brand still excites the blood!

The stand of Alfa Romeo also speaks about the fact that it is too early to bury Europe: their new Giulia is divinely beautiful.

Therefore, everything is fine in Europe. Hybrids are on the rise, luxury car sales are on the rise, and models continue to delight in beauty. Optimism is what Geneva 2016 is all about.

Behind the scenes conversation

At the auto show, we were able to get a short technical interview with Alain Reposo, engineer of the Renault-Nissan alliance. Fans of motors will definitely be interested.

— Renault has a lot innovative technologies, but, unfortunately, not all of them are used on models for countries former USSR. Why is Renault so careful to use "downsizing" engines on models for our countries?

— There is no other answer than economic expediency. New engines are more expensive to manufacture, and budget models are most in demand in your market. Therefore, every percentage of the cost of the car is very important - hence the range of engines, which mainly consists of classic units. As soon as the economic situation allows us to use modern expensive power plants, we will do it right away.

- How do you evaluate the resource of modern motors? Has it decreased compared to the motors of the 90s of the twentieth century?

- No. We carried out comparative tests: under the condition of application quality oils, the engine life is approximately the same, at least 300,000 km. I emphasize no less. Further operation is already influenced by operating conditions and other factors. For modern engines, the quality of lubricants and the quality of service are very important, I would advise you not to save on this.

- You know that in our countries people cut out diesel particulate filters, and in general they do not trust this technology. Why then did the Duster model have a particulate filter in the 1.5 dci engine?

- To be honest, I don’t understand why the particulate filter should be removed ... After all, this is ecology, an engine without it emits much more harmful particles. And there are no problems with the reliability of the particulate filter in your conditions: we tested it, everything works fine. To be honest, creating a 110-horsepower version of this engine without an anti-particulate filter is not in our plans: I repeat, the environmental friendliness of our solutions is very important. But if this is the demand of the market, we can probably come up with something. But for this, the sales volume of diesel versions must be higher than now.

— Why do manufacturers constantly claim that the efficiency of cars is improving, although at the same time, for many models, the real fuel consumption remains the same?

“The fuel consumption of engines is constantly decreasing, we are reducing it by several percent from model to model. But when the power unit is installed on the car, it suddenly turns out that the new generation has become larger, heavier. A lot of electrical consumers and additional devices have appeared in the car - therefore, in some cases, the real fuel consumption figures remain at the same level. Motor designers only manage to compensate for the losses that occur due to the above factors. But! If we take cars of comparable weight and engines of similar power, you will notice that fuel consumption has decreased significantly.

- Don't you think that modern motors are too complicated? Turbocharging, particulate filters and urea injection in diesel engines - why won't anyone say stop, it's time to stop, we leave the internal combustion engine at this stage of development, and further develop other technologies?

— I agree with you that the engines have become much more complex. But you understand, we are squeezed into the framework of environmental legislation on the one hand, and we are faced with the lack of a developed network of electric charging stations on the other. Do you understand? Electric motors seem like a solution, but buyers won't be buying cars with short ranges and no electric gas stations now. Therefore, we have what we have. And the new environmental standards are still a concern for the future of our planet. And this also needs to be taken into account when we talk about internal combustion engines.

The Geneva Motor Show held in 2016 pleased true connoisseurs of beautiful cars with new products.

Coupes, crossovers, sedans, sports cars and even individual parts cars.

We will talk about the most interesting concepts below.

BMW M760LixDrive

The new BMW M760Li xDrive is an updated generation of the Boomer 7 Series, which has received a sporty appearance and non-standard dynamics for this class.

The new car received powerful air intakes on the front of the bumper, alloy wheels with a diagonal of 20 inches and modern metallic gray trim.

The peculiarity of the model lies in the exclusivity of a whole group of elements - the front surface of the "nostrils", inserts in the door handles, jumpers in the front bumper and other details.

In the interior, everything reminds of the sporty nature of the car - a speedometer with an extreme speed of 330 km / h, the original shape of the pedals and the bright design of the front console.

The technical component did not disappoint either. The BMW M760Li xDrive model has an innovative roll compensation system, an intelligent system rear wheel drive and integrated steering.

Each element and node is thought out so that the person behind the wheel feels comfortable and safe.

Ford Fiesta ST200

Ford has pleased fans with a new Fiesta hatchback ST200. The peculiarity of the model is “charged” and powerful technical stuffing.

The new version is equipped with a 1.6-liter "EcoBoost" gasoline engine, which has almost 20% more torque and 10% more power.

If the previous version of the Fiesta could boast of a 182-horsepower engine, then the new engine already gives 200 “horses”.

Thanks to the new qualities, the car accelerates 0.2 seconds faster than its predecessor - 6.7 seconds to "hundreds".

At the highest level and the rest of the "stuffing" of the car. Engineers have provided 3-mode operation exchange rate stability, reliable brakes, an improved traction control system, updated springs and shock absorbers.

Jaguar F-Type SVR

Jaguar has delighted connoisseurs with the new F-Type SVR "charged" roadster and 4 × 4 coupe.

The new model received a powerful "eight" with a volume of 5.0 liters and a power of 575 "horses".

Compared to the previous version, 25 hp has been added under the hood. This engine comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Compared to the previous model, the speed of the F-Type SVR increased by 22 km/h and reached 322 km/h. The new Jaguar accelerates to hundreds in 3.6 seconds.

Externally, the F-Type SVR is easily recognizable by the unusual shape of the rear wing, the unique rear diffuser and the front bumper with a built-in spoiler. A distinctive feature of steel and impressive air intakes, providing better cooling to the motor and brakes.

In addition, the new car has become lighter and dropped almost 21 kg. To achieve the goal, the engineers installed tita new system release and 20-inch alloy wheels.

It is worth noting the appearance of a new suspension with a sports "bias". Sales of the car will begin in mid-2016. The starting price is 130 thousand euros.

Rolls-Royce Black Badge

Rolls-Royce arrived in Geneva in early 2016 not empty-handed. At the auto show, the concern presented two cars - a sedan and a Black Badge coupe. Engineers present their new products as a technique for self-confident and daring people.

The main features of the cars are the dark palette of elements (including the radiator grille).

For painting the car, Black Badge Black paint, unique in structure and quality, was applied in several layers.

Allocate a car and wheels, which are based on lightweight and reliable carbon fiber.

The same material found a place in the cabin. It was carbon fiber that the developers covered the internal panels with.

Does not lag behind the appearance technical part. The sedan has a 612 hp engine. This figure is 42 "horses" more than the standard version.

In the coupe version, there was no increase in power, and here the indicator remained the same - 632 hp.

The automatic transmission has undergone changes, which has become more sporty and switches with a delay (by 500 rpm). When overtaking, when the pedal is pressed to the floor, shifting does not occur until 6,000 rpm.

Citroen E-Mehari in Courreges style

Shitoroen surprised fans with the E-Mehari model, made in the unusual style of Courreges.

The car was the result of a combination of the popular electric car and the talent of the masters of the famous fashion house Courreges.

The goal of the creators was to achieve maximum freedom in style and functionality. And already at first glance at the car it is clear that the French succeeded.

The new model is a continuation Citroen E-Mehari presented at the end of last year. updated version turned out to be modern, with the spirit of creativity and freedom.

The car is equipped with an electric motor that has a solid, as for its size, traction.

As for capacity, the Citroen will be comfortable for 4 adults.

The new concept has a number of features - a white body color (the wheels are also painted in it), the presence of an orange trim in the cabin, the use of white leather for interior trim, a non-standard double-spoke steering wheel and an original color scheme.

One charge of the Citroen E-Mehari is enough to drive a distance of 200 km (in the city). Top speed- 110 km / h. The charging time depends on the current strength.

With a charger current of 16 A, charging will take up to 8 hours, and with a current of 10 A - 13.

The difference between the new concept is the silence of movement, when even on top speed you can hear the wind in your hair and the noise of the wheels.

Infiniti Q60

At the Geneva Motor Show, Infiniti showed the new Q60 coupe, which has become a follower of the already outdated version of the G37.

The car is presented in several versions. The basic version has a 2.0-liter engine and 208 "horses". The engine comes with a seven-speed automatic transmission.

The advanced version is equipped with a 3-liter engine with 304 hp. The most expensive version of the Infiniti Q60 has 405 hp. on board and 475 N * m of thrust.

Ford Kuga Vignale Concept

The Ford automaker presented two new items in Geneva - the updated Ford Kuga, as well as the premium version of the Vignale Concept.

In fact, we are not even talking about updating the model, but about a full-fledged premiere.

The creators introduced the world to the new SYNC 3 system, which made driving as simple and clear as possible. Now the main functions are activated by voice commands from the driver.

The car is distinguished by a bold and sporty design, unusual in shape (trapezoidal) bi-xenon headlights with built-in LEDs.

The merit of the creators is the development of an adaptive head light, adjustable to the level of external lighting.

The new Ford Kuga managed to introduce many technical innovations. Of the main ones, it is worth highlighting the following systems - automatic braking, all-wheel drive and opening the trunk. All this simplifies the life of motorists and makes operation comfortable.

Experts assure that the popularity of the new concept is not worth worrying about. In 2015, more than a hundred thousand cars were sold in a luxury consultation.

Analysts predict that car sales in the next 2-3 years should grow by another 25-30%.

Toyota C-HR

Toyota has pleased compact crossover C-HR class B.

In fact, this concept has become a continuation of the C-HR model already known to the public a year ago.

There are no exact technical parameters yet, so you will have to wait for the world premiere.

The basis of the car is the TNGA architecture, which has already shown itself in the Prius.

The car is equipped with a powerful 122-horsepower hybrid or a classic engine (at the request of the customer).

The advantage of the hybrid version is all-wheel drive, which opens up new possibilities on the road.

The choice of buyers will be offered gasoline and diesel engine. The first has a volume of 1.2 with a turbine that squeezes up to 116 horses out of the engine.

Lexus LC 500h

In Geneva, Lexus presented another car that deserves close attention - the LC 500h.

A feature of the new RX-Vision is unusual proportions, modern shapes, a wide wheelbase and minimal overhangs. It is planned that mass production will be launched next year.

Results

In 2016, the Geneva Motor Show managed to surprise with a lot of new products and improvements to already time-tested concepts. It remains to be hoped that the developments proposed by automakers are not the ultimate dream, but only the first step towards something greater.
