Fiat tipo specifications. New Fiat Tipo (2017-2018) - a massive offensive

08.12.2020

The five-door Fiat Tipo golf-class hatchback was introduced in 1988. The car was designed on a new platform, which was later used for other models of the Italian concern (for example,). In 1989, Tipo won the Car of the Year competition.

Gasoline engines of 1.1, 1.4, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8 and 2.0 liters were installed on the car, developing from 56 to 148 hp. with., as well as diesel engines with a volume of 1.7 and 1.9 (58–92 hp)

The car was in very good demand in many European countries, where its competitors were models such as,. In 1990, Tipo began to be sold in the USSR.

In 1993, the Italians carried out a restyling of the car, at the same time a three-door version appeared in the lineup. In Italy, the production of the Fiat Tipo ended in 1995, this model was replaced by cars /.

In 1995, hatchback production began in Brazil, and soon Tipo became the best-selling car in the local market. The car was also made at the Tofas factory in Turkey - here it stayed on the assembly line until 2000.

2nd generation, 2015

The Fiat Tipo golf-class sedan has been produced since 2015 in Turkey, at the Tofas plant in the city of Bursa, the hatchback and station wagon were put on the conveyor in 2016. In the Turkish market, this model is called. Since 2016, the car has been delivered to Mexico as .

The Tipo is equipped with atmospheric gasoline engines 1.4 (95 hp) and 1.6 (110 hp), as well as a 1.4-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 120 hp. The range of diesel engines consists of power units of the MultiJet II series with a volume of 1.3 and 1.6 liters (95 and 120 hp, respectively). In some markets, versions with gas engines are offered. Gearboxes - mechanical, automatic or robotic with two clutches.

The first show of the car Fiat Tipo 2018 took place back in 2014 in Geneva at the motor show. But May 2015 was just marked for lovers of the Italian brand Fiat by the official presentation of the new model, which was shown to the general public in 3 body styles at once: sedan, hatchback and station wagon. However, information about the hatchback and station wagon remained closed, and the sedan went into mass production. Moreover, he became the flagship of the Italian automaker, which replaced two models that were previously very popular - Linea and.

The development of the compact C-class sedan has been going on for three years, together with the Turkish company Tofas, which is probably why the car debuted at the auto show at the Istanbul Motor Show. The production of the car is organized just at the enterprise of this very company.

It is worth knowing that the Tipo model name is available only for residents of Europe, but in Turkey the car is sold under the name Fiat Aegea. Since it belongs to the class of compact sedans, the Czech and two French models - and. If the "Italian" has a choice of bodies, then the above competitors are available only in the "sedan" body.

Design

Regardless of which buyer chooses a body, the car has an elegant and stylish outline that meets modern requirements.

At the front, the car received slightly squinted optics and a large radiator grill, which is made in a corporate and unique style. The logo of the Italian company flaunts in the center of the lattice. From the cutouts on the head optics, a chrome strip runs along the lower part of the grille, separating the front bumper from the rest of the Fiat Tipo component. The bumper has an inflated shape, and small rectangular fog lights are mounted at its corners, between which there is a large air intake in the form of a trapezoid. The hood of the car, complemented by clear edges along the edges, gives a little aggression.

The car has a very striking profile that combines dynamics and elegance. Especially worth noting are the unique rims, the front optics that strongly extend onto the fender of the car and the “cutout” at the rear between the lamps and the bumper, which, in combination with long tail lamps, gives a special look.

The sidewalls of the Fiat Tipo 2018 are adorned with tides and flowing lines that make consumers forget that this car came from the center of world fashion, from a country where people know what style is.

No less spectacular is the stern of the sedan, which has a complex architecture with many lines and transitions. The trunk lid has a "protrusion" along the edge similar to a small spoiler. Immediately below it is the brand's logo, followed by a chrome stripe identical to the stripe at the front of the car. The rear lights originate from the chrome strip and descend in a semicircle to the rear bumper. In the center of the semicircle is a reversing lamp. The rear bumper looks neat, and its lower part has a flat surface, the exhaust pipes are disguised.

Dimensions:

  • the length of the compact sedan is 4532 mm;
  • width - 1792 mm;
  • height - 1497 mm;
  • wheelbase - 2636 mm;
  • ground clearance - 150 mm.

If different body variants have the same wheelbase and ground clearance, then their dimensions differ slightly.

Hatchback/wagon:

  • length - 4368/4571 mm;
  • width - 1792/1792 mm;
  • height - 1495/1514 mm.

Salon Fiat Tipo

Inside, the car has a minimalist style, but the interior looks quite attractive and has high-quality finishing materials for this class of car.

The steering wheel does have a premium look with a large set of functions, and the dashboard located behind it is “strewn” with a large number of indicators. A tiny display of the multimedia system is located on the center console. It is separated from the rest of the console by one row of buttons. Below are rounded air ducts and a climate control unit in the form of three rounds.

The tunnel doesn't have anything special, however, it does have a pair of cup holders and a large armrest. The front seats have a comfortable filler and pronounced lateral support, as well as a wide range of adjustments.

Regardless of the body type, there is more space in the rear row of seats than the closest competitors, and the manufacturers themselves even state that three tall basketball players can easily and comfortably fit in the second row of seats. By the way, if there are only two of them, they will be able to use the central armrest, which has a pair of cup holders.

The volume of the luggage compartment varies from 440 to 550 liters, but it can be increased by more than three times by folding down the backs of the second row of seats. Again, it all depends on the body type. There was a place for the Italian model, both for the repair kit and for the spare wheel.

Specifications Fiat Tipo

Type Volume Power Torque Overclocking Max speed Number of cylinders
Diesel 1.2 l 95 HP 200 H*m 11.7 sec. 180 km/h 4
Diesel 1.6 l 120 HP 350 H*m 9.7 sec. 199 km/h 4

Petrol 1.6 l 110 HP 152 H*m 11.2 sec. 192 km/h 4

The car has a wide choice of power plants, including two turbodiesels and two gasoline "aspirated".

  1. Petrol modifications are represented by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 95 hp. and 127 Nm of torque and an engine with a volume of 1.6 liters, which will already allow you to develop 110 “horses” and 152 Nm of thrust. The first of them accelerates the “Italian” to hundreds in 11.5 seconds, and Tipo 2018 continues to accelerate to the maximum speed limit of 185 km / h. At the same time, the average fuel consumption in the combined cycle is only 5.7 liters. This modification is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission.
  2. The second power unit, due to its increased power, allows you to “exchange” the first hundred in 11.2 seconds, and the maximum speed will increase with such an engine to 192 km / h. It will also increase fuel consumption to 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle. It works in tandem with a 6-speed automatic.
  3. The diesel line of Fiat Tipo MultiJet power units is represented by 1.3 and 1.6 liter engines that produce 95, 120 hp. and 200, 320 Nm of thrust, respectively. The weaker one is also equipped with "mechanics", and the more powerful one with "automatic". Detailed characteristics of the powerful version are not yet available, but a weaker diesel engine will accelerate the car to 183 km / h, breaking the first hundred in 11.8 seconds. At the same time, the average consumption is only 3.5 liters.

Torque, both diesel and gasoline units, is transmitted only to the front axle. At the front, the car has an independent suspension with MacPherson struts, and at the rear the car is on a semi-independent suspension with a torsion beam.

Price

The base price of the 2018 Fiat Tipo in the European market is 850,000 rubles (12,000 euros). The basic package will already have everything you need:

  • audio system with a small display;
  • air conditioner;
  • 15 inch wheels;
  • 6 airbags;
  • tire pressure sensors;
  • electric power steering;

The maximum configuration with all options is additionally equipped with: cruise control; climate control; rear view camera; navigation system along with a 5-inch Uconnect multimedia display; rain and light sensors.

The result of buying a good package will be the presence of a 5-inch multimedia display with a TomTom navigation system, a rear view camera and climate control. Despite all this, it is difficult to call the car a significant player in the market, many will prefer other brands.

Video

At the Istanbul Motor Show in May 2015, Fiat officially showed the public a new sedan under the name Aegea, which is considered the successor to the Linea three-volume that was once popular in emerging markets. The Italians have been developing the model for three years together with the Turkish company Tofas, at whose enterprise its serial production will be organized.

The appearance of the Tipo sedan (that's how it will be called in all markets except Turkey - where it will remain Aegea) is designed in a beautiful and elegant style with smooth and airy contours and spectacular plastic body panels. But along with the purely Italian elegance, the three-volume vehicle is not without its solidity, which is created due to the “squinted” headlights, a large radiator grille and original taillights that extend onto the trunk lid at the top. Stylish embossing on the sidewalls, a few chrome elements and a sloping roofline complete the harmonious appearance of the car.

In terms of overall dimensions, the Tipo fits well into the golf class standards, settling halfway between the B + and C classes. The car is 4500 mm long, 1480 mm high, 1780 mm wide, and has a wheelbase of 2640 mm. This means that the “Italian” will have to compete with Skoda Rapid and Citroen C-Elysee.

The interior of the Fiat Tipo looks no less interesting - a stylish steering wheel with a scattering of control buttons, a laconic instrument panel with white digitization and an on-board computer screen in the center, as well as a beautiful center console with a 5-inch touchscreen on top, three air conditioning "washers" and auxiliary keys. But all this will become a privilege of rich trim levels, the interior design of the basic versions will be much simpler.

According to the Italian manufacturer, the 2016 Fiat Tipo is capable of accommodating five adult riders, and there is enough space in both the first and second row of seats.

The volume of the cargo compartment is 510 liters, underground, most likely, a full-size spare wheel will settle down, and the back will fold down to increase capacity.

If we talk about technical characteristics, then for the Tipo sedan, Fiat engineers proposed a line of four power units, these are:

  • two MultiJet turbodiesels with a volume of 1.3 (95 hp) and 1.6 (120 hp) liters
  • and two gasoline atmospheric "fours" with a volume of 1.4 (95 hp) and 1.6 (110 hp) liters.

In tandem, the motors will separate manual and automatic transmissions, as well as front-wheel drive transmission.

There are no detailed characteristics of the engines, it is only known that the most economical version will need only 4 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers in combined mode.

This car is based on a Small Wide platform with MacPherson struts on the front axle and a semi-independent torsion beam layout on the rear axle. An electric power steering is integrated into the steering system, and ventilated disc brakes are installed on the front wheels.

In November 2015, the Tipo / Aegea sedan will appear in the showrooms of Fiat dealers in forty countries (Europe, the Middle East and Africa). Options and prices will be announced closer to the start of sales, while it is only known that well-equipped sedan versions will receive a multimedia system with a 5-inch monitor, voice control, TomTom navigation and AUX and USB connectors, as well as a rear view camera.

Tell me, why is there no inner handle for closing the trunk?

Why would she? All the same, people often take the cover from above.

Italians in their repertoire. Cheap savings have repeatedly turned into problems for them not only in Europe, but also in the Russian market. Remember, about fifteen years ago, at the time of the next advent of passenger Fiats, we had a “popular wave” under the motto “We don’t need such a Fiat”? .. But as I got to know Tipo, it became clear to me that other serious almost no car.

Tipo is built on a crossover platform, but using a simpler rear suspension from the model - because there is no all-wheel drive version and there will not be. Tipo was designed in the Italian Style Center of the FCA concern (Fiat Chrysler Automotive), and in three versions at once - a sedan (length 4540 mm), a hatchback (4470 mm) and a station wagon (4540 mm).

We've seen sleeker Fiats, but there are a few things that stand out, like the sleek taillights.

There are four engines - two petrol (95 and 110 hp) and two turbodiesels (95 and 120 hp). In addition to a manual gearbox, there is an automatic and even a robot with two clutches.

At first, the sedan appeared as - and under this name is already sold in Turkey. And for the vast majority of other markets (there are about forty of them), the good old name Tipo has been chosen. The newcomer is to some extent the heir to the model - but it is more modest and cheaper, it is still in good demand (at least in Turkey), so for some time it will be produced in parallel with the Tipo.

I have ridden the Tipo twice. First, I drove a pre-production car in the vicinity of a factory in Bursa (Turkey), where cars will be produced for all European markets. I vomited about twenty kilometers along a straight road in a convoy of several cars. I managed to understand only that even the pre-production Tipo was made to last - not a single panel creaked or fell off. I also liked the seats (soft, but with a good profile) and a multimedia system unified with other FCA cars with a convenient touchscreen. Other pluses are a huge trunk (520 l) and a spacious rear seat: “by myself” I sit down with a small margin in my knees, and my height is 186 cm.

The second meeting was in Belgrade, where I managed not only to drive on public roads, but also cut down a few laps on a small ring road.

Even being shod with 17-inch tires, Tipo does not shake out the soul on bumps: the suspension is what you need! But from a 120‑horsepower 1.6 turbodiesel, I expected more: noisy at high speeds and not too cheerful at low speeds. Partly the situation is saved by a manual box, which clicks no worse than on French and Korean cars of this class.

And on the ring Tipo opened up in all its glory! Rain, temperatures near zero, winter tires of an average level - and I boldly turn off the stabilization system and do whatever I want with the car. Light understeer turning into neutral is safe and exciting at the same time. It's a pity, the engine is still the same - a gloomy diesel. Here would be a 110-strong petrol, which is lighter and more cheerful, and it would be very good. The Italians have not yet forgotten how to tune the chassis!

Nice look, solid materials, high-quality assembly, interesting options (up to voice control of the audio system), a roomy trunk - Tipo got on the same level as Kia Rio. What are you laughing at? It was 15-20 years ago that few people took Korean cars seriously, but now the government has changed - at least in the Russian market.

I pestered the Italians with one question: when? After all, such a Fiat would look like our customers.

We are ready to supply Tipo to Russia, but it all depends on the market, competition, pricing…

An interesting movie: they will deliver Tipo to Serbia with its tiny market, but not yet to us. What is the reason? Sanctions? Does Turkish production put spokes in the wheels?

The price of everything is the head. The Italians are proud to say that the base Tipo will cost 10,500 euros in most markets - this is without taking into account domestic taxes, which vary greatly from country to country. European journalists beamed: a great offer! But 10,500 euros is 800 thousand rubles! And more taxes? No, without localization there is nothing to think about the Russian market - that's what I told the Italians. They went to think.

FIAT TIPO IS AUTOBEST WINNER

Initially, AutoBest is an Eastern European competition, and I represent Russia in it. We recently announced a major expansion: since autumn 2015, the jury has included automotive journalists from 26 countries. Almost all of Europe is represented - with the exception of Germany, Belarus and the Baltic countries. Every year we choose the best cars among relatively affordable ones - no more than 20,000 euros (excluding taxes).

Fiat Tipo is a good car, but not for our roads. The chassis and suspension are weak, but as for reliability, I can say that for the entire time that I have been using it, which is about three years, I have not had a single problem with the engine. The diesel engine is not whimsical either to fuel or to oil. The machine does not look big, but very roomy.

Fiat Tipo, 1992

There was a large selection. But before buying, I look a little ahead and compare the cost of repairs. Surprised. First, it's cheaper. Secondly, Fiats are not faked in China and Poland, and therefore all spare parts are licensed. I can only say good things about the car itself. Before that, I had both Merce and BMW, but in terms of briskness and controllability, I will give preference to Fiat. I have a height of 187 and can easily sit in the back with the same comfort, and if you fold the half of the rear seat, you can also put something big. And if you put gas shock absorbers and pump up the wheels with oxygen, then you can be afraid to fall asleep at the wheel when driving across the field.

Fiat Tipo, 1990

The car gave me a lot of trouble. As soon as they bought it, all the wiring and the switch flew off, the repair cost 18,000 rubles. not even a month, the engine went out. One torment with spare parts, it's good when you live in a big city, but if not? How much money was spent on repairs? For specialists? It seems to have been done, but again the joy was short-lived - the under-engine frame rotted, and again everything is all over again: order waiting for repairs! And they coped with this, and again, a problem with the stove, with the air! I don't even know when our problems will end? Children want to ride, but my husband and I are already tired! Yes, and it’s a pity for the money: they bought it for 75,000 and probably invested half the cost! In a word, tired!

Fiat Tipo, 1990

I loved this car, I still remember about it, I bought it when I was 6 years old, I drove it for about 2-3 years in general, I sold it only because I had money and it was time to buy something newer, I sold it about 7 years ago, after it I traveled on the Lagunas, also a good car, on the MB s240, now on the 206 transitional version, and I am tormented by the choice of a new one from the passenger compartment, but there is no unequivocal "love at first sight", as was the case with Tipa, with no cars yet. It’s a pity that Fiat doesn’t release anything similar ... or maybe it’s just nastolgia, about an inexpensive and very successful car, while I was driving it, at the end of the operation I had to change the levers, sometimes the starter was buggy, in the rest only pleasant memories.
