Getting out of the parking lot - is it easy? Check if you know all the rules! Departure from the parking lot forward and reverse (Video).

Recently, one of the readers in the comments to our article "" asked me to tell you how to learn how to properly exit the parking lot and we decided to answer her with the help of two wonderful video tutorials found on the vast Russian Internet.

We have already written a lot of articles about what the right one looks like, how to drive into the garage, how to learn and cited for novice motorists. Let's take a closer look at how to learn to leave a parking space forward and reverse.

Leaving the parking lot is no less difficult task than checking in. The risks are almost the same, and the skills to properly exit the parking lot also need to be worked out and improved. When leaving a parking space, it is important to carefully monitor standing side by side cars, curbs and fencing elements.

The video tutorials describe in great detail and intelligibly how to correctly exit the parking lot in front and reverse, using small toy cars with turning wheels. The author of the video tutorial is a professional driving instructor who recorded a very high-quality and understandable video even for a novice driver.

Lesson 1: Driving out of a parking lot

Getting out of a parking lot in front is a fairly simple task and you will probably learn quickly by watching this video. The main thing is to do everything calmly and confidently.

Lesson 2: Backing Out of a Parking Lot

The second video tutorial is a continuation of the first one and demonstrates the correct exit from the parking lot in exactly the same form, but in reverse. This is a more difficult manoeuvre, as visibility when reversing is severely limited. If you are just starting to learn how to drive, then ask some of your friends to help you and monitor the situation on the road while driving your car.

In the pocket! Now you can move around the city in your car, but here a lot of inconvenience awaits a novice car enthusiast. In the conditions of a big city, there is a problem of finding parking spaces, and if a place is hardly found, then another snag appears, but what is the right way to park?

In a driving school, of course, we are taught this technique, but with self driving, due to lack of experience, there is some fear of reverse parking or other types of parking. In this article, we will look at useful driving techniques that will help you learn how to park correctly.

Parking in reverse

How to park in reverse? Consider the near and far method (perpendicular), as well as parallel.

Nearby parking between cars. We find a free place and drive closer to it, stop so that the front wheels are on the marking line (see figure - position No. 1).

Next, spin steering wheel all the way away from the parking lot and move to the side at an angle of 42-47 degrees. As soon as the corner of the car appears in the right mirror (the neighbor on the right), we stop (No. 2). Now, we unscrew the steering wheel in the opposite direction and slowly turn it back, controlling the process in the mirrors. We stop when your car catches up with the neighboring ones, for example, on the mirrors or on the doors (No. 3).

Long distance parking between cars. We stop so that your driver's seat was on the same level with the second car in the parking lot (No. 1).

We unscrew the steering wheel in the direction of the parking lot and turn it back until your car takes a level position along the parking lines (No. 2). It remains to align the wheels and turn back to the end (No. 3).

How to park properly parallel parking. We are looking for a free place between the cars, it is desirable that it be spacious (it would fit one and a half cars). As the place is found, we stop parallel to the car behind which we will stand (No. 1).

We turn the steering wheel in the direction of the parking lot and slowly back it up at an angle of 42-47 degrees until position No. 2 is obtained. Next, we twist the steering wheel in the opposite direction and continuing to take it back, we take correct position (№3).

Video: how to park in parallel (reverse).

We looked at the most common ways - how to properly park backwards.

Departure in reverse (from the parking lot). We hand over exactly back until we catch up with our front bumper with the ends of the dimensions of neighboring cars (No. 2).

We unscrew the steering wheel in the opposite direction from the exit and turn it back until it moves forward freely (No. 3). Turn the steering wheel to the right side and on the road (No. 4).

Front parking

How to properly park in front? Consider parallel and perpendicular methods.

Check-in in front. We find a free place and stop so that the bumper of your car is in the middle of the future parking lot (No. 1).

And the distance between your car and the starting line of the parking space must be within 1.5 of the vehicle body. With the help of the steering wheel, we move to position number 2. Then turn the steering wheel reverse side and move back (#3). We put the wheels straight and drive into an empty place (No. 4).

Video: how to park in front (perpendicularly).

How to parallel park in front. We stop next to the car, in front of which we park so that your driver's seat is on the same level with the bumper of the neighboring car (No. 1).

Now, turning the steering wheel in the right direction, we slowly drive into an empty space parallel to the curb (No. 2). We put the wheels straight and turn back with the help of mirrors (No. 3).

How to quickly become a parking ace?

We got acquainted with the theory, and in order to feel confident when parking, practice is needed! If you just got behind the wheel, then do not rush to merge into the city stream. It is better to find a quiet area, place pegs on it (you can put close people instead), which will pretend to represent other cars.

And with the help of such a racetrack, you will feel the dimensions of your car and learn how to properly park in different ways. Believe me, this way you will save your and other people's nerves, and the banknotes will remain with you - in case of damage to someone else's or your car during an unsuccessful check into your pocket.

Parking is the hardest part. Many beginners think so, and in many ways they are right, but do not forget that leaving the parking lot can also carry a number of risks. So this wisdom should be learned separately, because sometimes it is an attempt to leave the parking lot that is more difficult and more dangerous than entering it.

If you need reverse

Most often, the departure involves precisely the inclusion of reverse gear, and you will also need to move at an angle. Naturally, other cars will definitely stand nearby, complicating the exit (especially a difficult case - if some kind of large facility like a truck or van, severely restricting visibility). This situation can lead to accidents, but they can be avoided by following these simple guidelines:

The main rule in both situations is the same - before starting to move, you should independently make sure that there are no obstacles. This means that the situation must be assessed by looking both in the mirrors and in the windows. rear doors. In no case should you start even very slow movement without looking in the rear-view mirror - someone may pass behind the car, and then it will be very difficult to avoid a collision. The danger of a side collision is also great, especially if the movement is at an angle.

Attention! Attention!

Another nuance - before leaving the diagonal parking, you need to turn on the direction indicator (usually the left one) - this will let other drivers know that the car will leave.

If the car was parked between cars standing in parallel, then when leaving this “pocket”, you need to assess the situation on the roadway both on the right and on the left. Starting the movement without this, you can collide with a car passing by, and in this accident, all the blame will be placed on the driver who left the parking lot.

If nearby cars block the view (for example, they have blank windows or large dimensions), the exit must be carried out very slowly. First, the car needs to be moved forward 30-50 cm - this will allow you to see carriageway better, and signal to other drivers that it intends to leave. After pausing and evaluating all the circumstances, you can continue to carefully and safely exit the parking lot.

Every driver should know how to park well. Some people acquire this important skill while still studying at a driving school, but not all after receiving driving license can say that they can properly park in reverse. One of the most intimidating maneuvers for beginners is parallel parking. About it, as well as other ways of parking, will be discussed in today's article.

The ability to confidently park a car in reverse is sure to come in handy. It's hard to even imagine how to drive a car in general. big city, and not only in large, not being able to perform this procedure. Of course, few people can immediately become a parking master, practice is very important in this matter. But first you need to clearly understand how to act in a given situation.

We will look at several ways to reverse park between two cars.

Method 1: Right Perpendicular Parking

In the parking lot, follow the same rules as on the road, keeping right side lanes between rows of parked cars.

Once you have selected a parking spot to the right of your car, turn on your right turn signal to let other drivers know you plan to park in that spot.

Slowly drive past free space for parking, making sure there is enough space for your car. Check the parking lot for obstructions and make sure there are actually parked cars on both sides.

When you pass by, reduce your speed to a minimum. Keep a distance of about 1 meter from parked cars.

When your rear bumper will be flush with the left side of a car parked to the right of your chosen spot ( brown car in the figure), come to a complete stop.

Step 2. Prepare to move. Turn on reverse gear. Make sure that the turn signal is on during the manoeuvre.

Look in your mirrors and make sure there are no other vehicles behind you or next to you.

Follow right side your vehicle using right mirror. Keep the corner of the rear bumper in sight and keep a distance between it and the parked vehicle.

Step 3. Start parking in reverse. Turn the steering wheel as far to the right as possible, then turn it half a turn to the left.

Advice. When reversing, place your right hand on the back of the front passenger seat and look over your right shoulder. The steering wheel can only be rotated with the left hand.

Drive slowly in reverse gear. You will find yourself in a parking lot. Periodically look at left mirror to avoid colliding with the car on your left.

Step 4. Make adjustments if necessary. Make small adjustments with the steering wheel to center the car in the parking space.

Advice. It is important to understand dimensions your vehicle. It is difficult to determine the length of the car, being on driving seat. If necessary, while parking, get out of the car and check its position to make sure that you do not hit other vehicles.

If you get too close to the car on the other side of your car, stop. Shift into first gear and lean forward slightly to correct the position of the car in the parking space.

Step 5. Reverse to the end. Continue driving until the distance between the rear bumper and the edge of the parking space is 15-30 cm. Be aware of vehicles and obstacles such as curbs, lampposts and supermarket carts. Leave 15-30 cm between the bumper and various obstacles.

Estimate the distance between your car and other vehicles. Make sure you leave enough room for the doors to open.

If there is not enough room to get out of your vehicle or nearby vehicles, shift into first gear and drive forward slowly, correcting your vehicle's position. Try to center your car and come back.

Method 2: Perpendicular parking on the left

If you liked the parking space located on the left in the direction of travel, you can do the following:

  • find a place to turn around, after which the “cell” for parking will be already on the right side (and then you already know what to do);
  • wait for oncoming cars to pass, and park in the place you like in reverse.

Advice. If you decide to park on the left, you need to do it calmly, but quickly. A long parking process blocks traffic and annoys other drivers.

Step 1. Choose a parking space. Analyze oncoming traffic in the parking lot. Turn on your left turn signal to let other road users know that you are planning to park.

When there are no oncoming vehicles, drive onto left side lane and keep about 1 meter away from cars parked on the left.

Step 2. Choose a suitable position. Stop your car the moment your rear bumper aligns with the corner of the parked car's bumper.

Step 3: Engage reverse gear and start parking between cars. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and then back to the right about half a turn.

Step 4. Continue to park slowly. Look in your left rearview mirror to keep a safe distance between the rear bumper and the vehicle next to you.

Constantly check the situation through the right mirror and the interior mirror to make sure that you do not hit other vehicles or obstacles.

Step 5. Complete the movement in reverse gear. When your vehicle parallel with other vehicles, align the wheels by turning the steering wheel to its original position.

Continue to drive slowly in reverse until there is 15-30 cm between the rear bumper and obstacles or markings.

Step 6 Apply the parking brake. Estimate the distance to vehicles on your sides and behind you. If you drive too close to one of the cars and this will make it difficult to get in / out, you need to correct the position of the car.

Method 3: Reverse Parallel Parking

Parallel parking can be intimidating experienced drivers especially in areas of heavy traffic. Remain calm during the procedure. If you practice in advance in areas with minimal movement, this will prepare you and help you avoid unnecessary stress in the future when you find yourself in heavy traffic.

Advice. If you plan to park on the left side of the street, for example if it's a one-way street, follow the tips below, but change from left to right and vice versa.

Step 1. Approach the parking space. As soon as you notice appropriate place to parallel park on the right in the direction of travel, slowly approach it by turning on the right turn signal.

Step 2 Set the car to its original position. Drive past a free space and stop at the moment when the rear bumpers of yours and nearby standing car will be about the same level. The distance between your cars should be approximately 30-50 cm.

Step 3. Prepare to park. Engage reverse gear, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and hold it in that position.

Step 4. Begin to slowly back out. Your vehicle must enter the parking space at an angle first. Be careful when using the steering wheel with both hands.

Step 5 Align the wheels. When the driver's side mirror lines up with the car's rear bumper on the right side, stop for a second and align the wheels (they should be straight ahead).

Continue to drive back slowly until the right corner of the front bumper lines up with the rear bumper of the vehicle parked in front.

Step 6 Turn the steering wheel to the left. Stop for a second and turn the steering wheel all the way to the left.

Continue driving in reverse gear. The front of your car will turn, taking the correct position in the selected place.

Step 7 Back up until your vehicle is parallel to the curb. Try to keep the distance between your car and the curb about 15-45 cm.

Step 8. Adjust the position of the car if necessary. Align the steering wheel. Move back until you are 15-30 cm from the bumper of the car behind you. Turn the steering wheel in the direction that is necessary to align the position of the car.

Drive forward until your car is roughly centered between the cars in front and behind.

You can easily exit a parking space by backing up a little, then turning the front wheels to the left and slowly driving forward. As soon as your front bumper and the rear bumper of the car in front will successfully miss each other, you can carefully fit into the traffic flow.

Parking in reverse can be both simple and quite complex. But constant practice, clear step-by-step instruction(scheme), which you need to keep in mind, and the ability to relax will help even novice drivers to cope with this task.

For almost 7,000 years, people have ridden horses, but we have only driven cars for the last hundred years. Tethering a horse at a saloon was once much easier than parking a high-tech vehicle today. Parking is a whole science, which in certain situations does not forgive mistakes. And the correct parking of the car is a guarantee of your peace of mind, the integrity of the car and the gratitude of colleagues on the road. Today we will teach you how to park properly.

Parking maneuvers sometimes cause headache even for experienced drivers, and beginners can be completely depressed. In driving schools, parking is given a minimum of attention, and this, in turn, once again confirms the fact that the private will help to more effectively bite into the granite of science. Be that as it may, drivers begin to park correctly only after a certain period of time has passed, the duration of which depends both on the regularity of trips and on the individual characteristics of a person.

Do you remember how Vysotsky sang? “And bulky like tanks, Fords, Lincolns, Selenas, elegant Mustangs, Mercedes, Citroens ... Every day there are more and more cars. If you believe the old statistics, then today the number of "iron horses" has already exceeded a billion .... And by 2015, the Russian capital's car park will be about 5 million cars. So knowing how to park becomes vital.

Parking errors

Why start with an analysis of the most common mistakes? At least in order not to step on a rake later, which are generously scattered in the thick grass of road tricks. So how do you learn to park so you don't make the most common mistakes?

Most often, novice drivers incorrectly evaluate both the size of the parking space and the dimensions own car. In order to correct the situation, it will be enough to show diligence during training at the racetrack or somewhere in the wasteland where you can simulate a parking situation. Try in a free area to test yourself in reverse gear, turn in different sides and try to observe the markings of the imaginary parking space. Believe me, with maximum effort, you can learn to park with your eyes closed (which, however, we strongly recommend that you do not).

Another mistake that even experienced drivers make is that they park exclusively in mirrors. How often can you hear the advice of instructors not to turn your head while parking! However, one must take into account important detail- the mirrors have a rather narrow field of view, so turning the head will be a very useful addition. But, of course, pay 70 percent of your attention to mirrors, thanks to which you can control obstacles much more accurately, and therefore increase the maneuverability of the car.

Very often, car owners do not take into account the features specific car, and this is very important for its competent parking. So, the maximum turning radius can boast all-wheel drive cars. But with rear wheel drive cars you need to be extremely careful - their turning radius leaves much to be desired.

Electronic assistants

To make life easier for drivers, automakers come up with various clever devices that help park. The most popular of them is parking sensors, which, using sound or visualization, tells the driver how close the car is to an obstacle. In premium cars, you can often find echoes of high technology- parking assistants that can put the car into the parking lot without the help of the driver.

But, as they say, rely on the gadget, but don't make a mistake yourself. The ability to park quickly, accurately and independently will never be superfluous, given that there is less and less free space in big cities.

Fundamentals of proper and competent parking

Today, on the streets of European cities, you can often see how one car pushes others, trying to free up parking space with the help of a bumper. But our mentality is still far from taking a crumpled and scratched bumper for granted. Therefore, we will be content with domestic and, importantly, legal parking methods.

Parallel parking is the most difficult way to park a car.

Photo autocopilot.com.ua

Exist different ways parking: reverse and forward, parallel, perpendicular and diagonal. By the way, the last three methods can be performed both forward and backward.

Parallel parking in confined spaces

This type of parking is considered one of the most difficult for novice drivers. However, having mastered this technique, you will not have any difficulties with parking in the future.

The main condition for parallel parking is to choose the lowest speed possible.

Quick Guide to Parallel Parking:

  1. Slowly drive up to the parking space and stop the car parallel to the car behind which you are going to park. At the same time, it is necessary to maintain a distance of 50 cm to 1 meter (depending on the situation).
  2. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and start moving, guided by the left mirror.
  3. Straightening the left back angle your car with the front corner of the car that is behind you, align the steering wheel (one and a half turns to the left).
  4. Back up as slowly as possible and align your bumper with the bumper in front standing car. Having done this, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and track the distance to the edge of the curb or curb (it is best to use a special spherical mirror). The car must be placed strictly parallel to the roadway.

By the way, parallel parking is best done in reverse, because the maneuverability of the car in this case increases dramatically.

Perpendicular parking

This type of parking can be easily "saddled" if you take simple rules games, and then bring the manipulation of the steering wheel and pedals to automatism.

  1. It is best to find a place in the parking lot that will later allow you to fully open the doors in your car on both sides;
  2. You should stop about a meter from parked cars;
  3. Mentally draw a conditional line starting in the center rear wheel and ending at the driver's seat, and then connect it to the vertical with the intersection point on the rear arch;
  4. On the parking markings, you need to highlight the rightmost point for which you are going to turn;
  5. Engage right turn and reverse gear and turn the steering wheel 1.5 turns when your conditional intersection on the car connects to the parking point;
  6. Return the steering wheel to its original position when the car is parallel with other cars.

A small car is just a godsend for lovers of perpendicular parking

It is important to bring all movements to automatism, and then all this parking turmoil will seem to you easier than a steamed turnip.

Diagonal parking

This is the simplest type of parking and is most often used by shopping centers, which draw diagonal parking markings. It is necessary to enter such a parking lot exclusively in front and leave using the trajectory of arrival, giving way to passing cars.

Before choosing one or another parking method, consider in advance how you will leave the parking space. Competent parking is two basic rules:

  1. Park your car conveniently and safely for yourself
  2. Do not interfere with other road users
Before you start parking, try to evaluate:
  1. Can you physically park here? Is there enough room to maneuver, will you hit someone else's car, will you create inconvenience for other drivers and passers-by?
  2. in terms of traffic rules?
Remember that you can and should park your car only in specially designated places or where it is not prohibited by the current traffic rules. This will protect the vehicle from possible damage and communication with police officers. Do not forget that a car that has been parked incorrectly and has become participant in an accident is always guilty. And you along with him.

You can only park where it is not prohibited

Photo vipatovo.ru

Not all places where you can park are considered safe. You yourself must assess the situation by examining the potential scene. Make sure there are no venues nearby construction works, and icicles do not hang threateningly from the edge of the roofs.

Despite the dominance of videos on the Internet that tell about women's parking failure, the fairer sex, and concurrently the better half of humanity, park more competently than men, although much more slowly:
M - 16 seconds,
F - 21 seconds.
At the same time, 77% of women and only 53% of men do not interfere with other cars and do not violate parking rules.

If you're in reverse gear, it's never a bad idea to turn on an emergency flasher to alert other drivers that you're making a potentially dangerous maneuver.

It will not be superfluous to repeat the main rule: carefully look at the mirrors and turn your head if necessary. And also always think not only about how to drive into the parking lot, but also how to leave it.

Sometimes it's enough to respect others

Photo peugeot-citroen.net

They say that you can learn about a person by looking at how he parks. And parallel parking does not mean at all a situation where you parked the car and you are completely parallel. And if you ever hear something like this somewhere: “So, dear, a little forward, now a little back ... oppa .... and now a little to the right, ... woooo!!!.... and now sharply forward! ”, You should not think that they are having sex there. It is possible that they just park there.
