The maximum speed of the Mercedes E63. The fastest Mercedes e63 AMG: Interior Exterior Engine Price

Turn Dynamic Select to Race mode, put box in manual mode, turn off ESP, p-pull on the steering wheel paddles, confirm the command with the right. Congratulations, you've entered Drift Mode and turned your 4WD Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4Matic+ into a rear wheel drive car.

He's really rear wheel drive, that's not for you Ford Focus An RS that just puts more power to the rear axle. The car now sends 612 forces and 850 Nm only to rear wheels. Without traction control.

Of course, you won't need it. Unless you're going to fill the pages of a magazine with photos of smoking tires or trying to be a drift hero. In this case, a terrible shame and a huge repair bill will invariably follow the phrase: “Look how I can ...” Better show off on words, people.

So, you don't need it, but it's important. Don't see the logic? Wait. As far as I know, no one has yet designed a four-wheel drive sedan that can be converted to rear-wheel drive at the push of a button (or buttons). The E 63 S is the first and has a wide range of talents beyond that. And the competitors? This is a stone in the direction of the Audi RS6 and BMW M5, and in general an application for sole leadership. If the system is good, of course.

Tobias Moers, head of AMG, believes that the new E 63 models “represent the biggest step forward we have ever taken from one generation to the next.” Notice he says "models". There are two of them: E 63 and more expensive and advanced E 63 S (the one I rode). The extra charge is not only for extra forces and Newton meters. The Eski has more brake (390mm front if regular and 402mm if carbon-ceramic), Track Pace app, dynamic engine mounts, and an electronically controlled rear diff instead of a mechanical self-block. And then there's Drift Mode...

Axel Seilkopf, chief minder of the E 63, says what they have changed. Much, mainly in order for the motor to develop 850 Nm, as marketers ordered. old box was also designed for only 700 Nm. Pistons, turbines, brakes - all new or reinforced. And the “S” turned out from the less powerful E 63 is not a simple reconfiguration of the brain. It has lightweight pistons, other air intakes, an intercooler. And most importantly - a pair of dual-flow turbines that increase traction at low revs.

In the box - “wet” clutches instead of a torque converter so that you can start with slippage - the oil cools. And the multi-plate clutch distributes torque along the axes, it is compact and can send all 850 Nm forward or backward.

And here I am at the race track in Portimão, following the legend - Bernd Schneider, who drives the AMG GT S. I can't go through the corners as fast as he does. The E 63 S weighs 1880 kg, only 35 kg more than the old one. rear wheel drive car(commendable!). But still it is a large mass, and the center of gravity is higher. The carbon-ceramics don't overheat, the 265/35 ZR20 front tires (295/30 ZR20 - rear) grip superbly and don't let the front end slip, and the steering is precise and reliable. Not very sensitive, but the variable tension bar is not annoying, although I usually hate that.

But the most relish begins after the apex, when you let the moment go to all wheels. This is magic. Partly thanks to the motor, which sounds magical and delivers exuberant traction, but the main thing is what the chassis of the new E 63 does with that traction. The Audi RS6 would blow the nose, but the Mercedes behaves more like a rear wheel drive. First, a portion of the moment goes to rear axle, levels the car, collects, and then the power moves forward to clean up the trajectory. And all four wheels work, pull in the same direction.

Of course, it all happens in a fraction of a second and feels like a smooth, uninterrupted and natural d-motion, but it's amazing. Auto-mobility is not only fast and efficient, but also fun.

The type of shield is customizable. You can put separate dials for the speedometer and tachometer

Turbines stand in the collapse of the blocks for quick response and environmental friendliness

Behind the beautiful discs are carbon ceramics. The dynamics are just incredible.

If you step on the gas too sharply or too early, you will beautifully exit the turn in drifting. Quite a bit, leaving the stern, but this is enough to feel like a hero. Even when the traction control is off, you need to accelerate a lot to get into a full spinning skid. Unless you turn off the four-wheel drive... A good stomp on the pedal will blow your ass off so you can't get it back. This n-occurs instantly. But at higher speeds, the car is incredibly controlled and incredibly high. Unless you pay your tire bills, of course.

Still, the E 63 is not a track car, and it proved it. The dawn of the next morning we meet on the N2 - it's a fantastic road, endlessly winding back and forth, sometimes diluted with short sprint straights in third or fourth gear. On it, the sedan is more impressive than on the track. I expected it to be cumbersome and cranky, but no - it's amazingly accurate and efficient. And again the system all-wheel drive turns the car into an athlete with effortless movements. Body control is so excellent. And this motor...

Opponent - BMW M5
More comfortable and relaxing than the E 63, but not as cool

I wondered if the 4.0-liter engine would be suffocated compared to the old 5.5-liter twin-turbo, because the mass of the car is greater. I thought there would be a turbo lag, there would be no traction from the bottom. Nothing like this. This engine is the future of Mercedes-AMG. They've invested heavily in the development that's still going on, and here's the result - a kickass, powerful V8. At medium revs, the thrust is simply endless, the motor rams the limiter at 7000 rpm if you are late with the switch, and roars delightfully in your ears. Even by super sedan standards upper class this is crazy stuff.

The steering and brakes are a little lacking in feeling, but the responses to commands are always predictable and reliable, which feeds the pilot's confidence. I was more impressed with the box, although I've never been a fan of the MCT trans-mission - the shifts are crisp, instant, bright, they make every acceleration very alive.

The engine roars, the wheels grip, and the E 63 S shoots so hard and fast it makes you want to do it over and over again. It's more fun than the M5 or RS6. Doubt? Yes, I'm surprised how aggressive he is. On a winding highway, you can fall under its spell and get addicted. If the BMW M5 feels plush and comfortable, sinking you into deep seats, the Mercedes won't let you relax. Buckets are hard with thin pads. The ride is hard and the tires are loud.

But you can take softer pillows and drive the E 63 to work. The engine and transmission will take it easy, and you will quickly get used to the road noise. And the salon is great. The quality of the carbon fiber is just exceptional, the fit is the most comfortable and there are more gadgets than you can use. The feeling of high cost does not leave. I doubt only about the dual screen and control with touch panels on the steering wheel. This is nonsense, and E 63 does not need it. What about Driver Assist systems? They seem completely out of place. Semi-autonomous AMG? No thanks, I prefer to drive it myself.

At the Los Angeles Auto Show 2016 world premiere"charged" Mercedes-AMG E63 4MATIC+ sedan in the new W213 body. But the manufacturer distributed pictures and all the details about the new product a few weeks before the opening of the exhibition.

As expected, outwardly the new Mercedes-AMG E63 2018 (photo and price) does not differ too much from the standard one. Here is a different radiator grille with a wide rib and vertical slats, more aggressive front bumper with enlarged air intakes, side skirts, carbon fiber spoiler on the trunk lid and lining on the front fenders.

Options and prices Mercedes-AMG E 63 2019

AT9 - 9-speed automatic, 4MATIC - all-wheel drive

In addition, the 2018 Mercedes E 63 AMG in a new body stands out with a diffuser in rear bumper, a quartet of tailpipes, carbon fiber rear-view mirror caps, and flared wheel arches. By default, there are 19-inch wheels, and on the top modification S there are wheels with a diameter of 20″.

In the salon of the model are installed sports chairs and steering wheel, carbon fiber inserts are used in the interior trim, plus the graphics on the instrument panel are changed. But the main thing, of course, in such a car is its technical filling, which has undergone significant changes.

Specifications

On the new Mercedes-AMG E63 W213 2017-2018, they abandoned the 5.5-liter V8 with two turbines that was installed on its predecessor, which gave way to a more modern “eight” biturbo with a working volume of 4.0 liters. On basic version sedan engine produces 571 hp. and 750 Nm of torque, and on the E63 S it was possible to raise the power to 612 “horses” and 850 Nm. Thus, we have the most powerful serial “yeshka” in history.

The car has lost its rear-wheel drive modification, so now both variants are equipped with 4MATIC all-wheel drive and 9-band by default. automatic transmission AMG Speedshift MCT with function manual switching paddle petals. The sedan spends 3.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h, and the 612-horsepower Mercedes-AMG E63 S does it in 3.3 seconds.

The maximum speed of both modifications is limited at around 250 kilometers per hour, but for a surcharge, the limiter can be moved up to 300 km/h. When the "Comfort" mode is activated, the engine is able to turn off half of the cylinders at light loads in order to reduce fuel consumption. And the top version was equipped with the “Drift” mode, in which the lion's share of traction is directed to the rear axle, allowing you to effectively drive the car in a controlled skid.

Also in terms of technology, the new 2018 Mercedes E63 AMG model received reconfigured Air Body Control suspension and steering, mechanical interlock rear differential, completely disabled ESP system with three modes of operation, as well as powerful brakes with 360 mm discs in front (with six-piston calipers) and rear (single-piston).

However, on the E 63 S 4MATIC+, the front brake discs go to 390 mm, and you can also order carbon-ceramic brakes - then there will be discs at 402 mm in front, and 360 in the rear.

What is the price

Sales of the new Mercedes-AMG E63 W213 in Europe started in the spring of the seventeenth, and in the US in the summer. Then the car appeared on Russian market, but the prices for it were announced in February. Behind base sedan with a 571 hp engine. they ask for a minimum of 7,670,000 rubles, and the top-end E 63 S with drift mode will cost customers from 8,180,000 rubles.

In addition, in March at the Geneva Motor Show debuted "charged" station wagon with a similar technical stuffing.

In general, an extra charged sedan is a very specific product. You know, there is such a dish in world cuisine - deep-fried ... butter. Strange? Why fry oil in oil? Then a counter question - why “fry to a crisp” an already “fat” business sedan, turning it into a car in which you can’t even take children to school, and it’s somehow stupid to ride friends? In addition, the price is comparable to sports coupe, but it looks, to put it mildly, not so cool. It also seems strange at first glance...

However, in spite of everything, the demand for charged sedans is very stable. Moreover, according to statistics, the vast majority of owners of such machines are ready to change them except for new analogues. The 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 is designed not only to win the hearts of the owners of the previous “yeshki”, but also to attract the attention of the owners of others fast sedans. Actually, Mercedes has a chance, because he, busting, was the first of the German trio to release new model"charged business". Audi and BMW promise to arrive in time in the spring and summer of 2017.

rear wheel drive

Behind last years The world of cars has changed as dramatically and radically as the world of gadgets. What was considered unreal yesterday is already serial today. Fortunately, the Germans did not equip the E63 with a fully autonomous driving system, but offered something new.

From time immemorial, fans of charged cars (and not only) have been arguing which is better - rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Apologists for cutting donuts, arms crossed and eyes closed, confidently repeat that the rear drive wheels are definitely better, a little more balanced (although how does this word fit in with the owner of a car with half a thousand horses under the hood ...) remind that in bad weather you can "play out". And this is also true - all-wheel drive is good in its own way, but you can’t fight it just as recklessly, treading into a turn at a supercritical angle of attack ... But now that’s it, forget it - no disputes and difficulties of choice. New AMG E63 S 4MATIC+ can be all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive! Doesn't it happen? Now it happens.

Multi-plate clutch with electronic control allows you to completely “chop off” the front wheels so that the driver can still burn the rear tires and arrange a smoke screen when driving sideways. I emphasize that we are talking only about the E63 4MATIC + version with the prefix “ S ". Without this letter, you will have a rear cross-axle differential with a mechanical lock.

Before the start of the races, instructors and marketers made everyone literally salivate. I was looking forward to riding the E63 in style the best representatives best professions and in reality I saw how I “smoke” along the Portuguese track Algarve in slow motion, feeling like the illegitimate son of Jeremy Clarkson and Ken Block, but ... it turned out that the Drift Mode and the Race setting on the test cars were deactivated. The organizers, of course, cannot be forgiven, but one can understand - otherwise the brave journalists would annihilate cars that cost more than their apartments in a couple of hours. In theory, the drift profile allows you to drive virtually without assistance. electronic systems and on the "honest" rear-wheel drive. By the way, according to rumors, it will be the same with the new one. BMW M 5. But about the Audi RS such information is not yet available.

Overclocking

Fortunately, the organizers at least allowed to try the “slingshot” mode, as my instructor called it. Nothing new - you clamp two pedals and then abruptly release the brake. In this case, the new E63 AMG shoots like Chuck from Angry Birds . The improved RaceStart profile allows you to rip the car as sharply and without delay as possible - this is how the claimed 3.4 seconds to a hundred are achieved. No less impressive is the deceleration, forcing you to literally hang on the belts.

Feelings of driving E 63 ... original. For the foreseeable past, I have testedwith an acceleration of 2.8 seconds, but one thing is a supercar or even a hypercar, and quite another is a full-fledged sedan weighing 2 tons. The sensations from overclocking are completely different - something like drinking three liters of beer or a bottle of vodka in three sips ... It seems that the result is the same, but the path to it is completely different. However, so is the sound.

Juicy pops when dropping, a terrible roar - when dialing ... The acceleration of a new “yeshka” is accompanied by such an accompaniment that a Himalayan bear can inadvertently go under itself when it hears it. In principle, I myself was almost embarrassed when, carried away by a set of speeds, I inadvertently ran into a limiter - the traditional 250 km / h (with AMG package Driver's will have 300). By the way, the exhaust sound can be changed - a separate key near the gearshift lever is responsible for its setting. In comfort mode, peace and quiet await you. Almost…

"Regular" Mercedes-AMG E 63 4 MATIC + develops 571 hp With. (torque - 750 Nm), and E 63 S 4MATIC-612 Horse power(850 Nm). The difference in power is achieved by the pressure of the turbines, otherwise the motors are identical. The new charged Mercedes sedan has a 4-liter biturbo V 8, mated to a 9-speed AMG Speedshift MCT. This "robot" is fully electronically controlled and has become "smarter" than ever, although the hardware is not much different from its 7-speed predecessor. The top "eska" accelerates to hundreds in 0.1 seconds faster model without prefix " S - in 3.4 seconds. But only she is able to "chop off" the front end, allowing the owner to have two cars in one.

Comfort and sport

Up to obscene fast acceleration, smoky fun, race track games… Wait, are we sure we're still in the E-Class? Having run your finger up to the elbow into the cream rosette on the cake, you forget that, in fact, the main thing in it is the biscuit at the bottom. But only we forgot about it and only now - the Mercedes people perfectly remembered what they were creating. Otherwise, how to explain what is new Mercedes-AMG E 63 - one of the most comfortable charged sedans in history?

On 20-inch wheels and tires with a "thirtieth profile" you expect furiousness, but it is not there - the suspension is very energy-intensive. True, this still does not mean that it is comfortable in the usual sense. When compared with the “civilian” E-class, even in the softest mode, the air suspension E 63 4 MATIC + may seem "wooden". But this AMG will make you put your teeth on the shelf only twice - first when buying, and then after shifting from turn to turn in rear-wheel drive and at full speed. On the way home, you can fearlessly stop by the dentist - in civilian mode, working out irregularities is worthy of respect and even surprise. I'm not sure that a forced march at sea with children is good idea, but it is quite feasible without a subsequent appeal to a chiropractor.

In sport modes, the suspension frankly “hardens” and turns a relatively flexible sedan into an overgrown kart, but Mercedes comfort still does not disappear. You can take off on it, like on a punching bag, hanging on the tail even of very fast and famous sports cars. After all, without activating the drift mode of the E63 4MATIC + with the prefix " S » rulitsya just a miracle as well. He reacts to manipulations with the steering wheel sharper and faster than the father of five children to the fall of the youngest daughter from the couch.

Brief specifications

Engine: V8 Displacement: 4.0 L Transmission: 9-speed AMG box Speedshift MCT Power: 612 HP With. Acceleration to 100 km / h: 3.4 s

Just as predictably, the "yeshka" passes and turns. Go too far with the gas in the turn in this case possible (and often it is even safe), because electronics constantly monitors traffic situation and, if necessary, adjusts the transmission of traction from 50 to 50 to 0:100 (to the rear axle). Let me rephrase: in a matter of milliseconds, the thrust is redistributed in such a way as to provide the most precise controllability and complete predictability. Ligaments can be passed without the slightest effort, and you really need to be able to start the car into a skid or “get out” into the bump stop.

Thanks to all this, in theory with Mercedes-AMG a beginner can cope, but not everyone can fully experience all its advantages and unleash its potential. Apex, braking point, corner entry point, smoothing… All these terms are owner E 63 is not just required to know, but must be able to apply in real life.

Interior and exterior

I deliberately left this part for last. After all, it makes no sense to meet the new 63rd in terms of clothes - he is very conservative and ... modest. So much so that I doubt that everyone you meet will understand the real possibilities of this car - but those who know will immediately recognize AMG . In front, there is a different hood and grille, as well as large air intakes. Behind - a diffuser, a miniature "wing" and a pair of bifurcated exhaust pipes.

If you diligently squint and take a closer look, you can see enlarged wings, small spoilers and immodestly large brake discs with silver calipers (just E 63 AMG ), red or golden colors (at S -versions). "Gold" refers to the most powerful optional brakes - carbon-ceramic.

Inside is the real empire of this very carbon. The interior of a charged sedan is perceived as lightened beyond recognition, but at the same time restrained. Yes, probably only the Germans can install buckets and generously stick varnished carbon fiber so that the interior seems businesslike and sporty overnight.

There are almost no buttons, even on the cut steering wheel they are touch-sensitive. And the screens - a giant 12-inch touchscreen, electronic tidy ... They display so much information that the "Children's Encyclopedia" was not even close. The menu has a bunch of submenus, where there are submenus that allow you to track the lap time on a particular track, view overloads, chassis settings, node operating modes ... in general, you will always have something to do. But, as in a “civilian” car, navigation is provided here, a separate climate unit for rear passengers(Oh my God, why should they) and a full-fledged trunk. The front seats are terribly comfortable and terribly beautiful. True, getting out of them, as well as from other buckets, is very difficult. But the rear sofa is almost like in a regular “yeshka”. A car for the whole family?

You will like the Mercedes-AMG E63 4MATIC+ if:

  • a traditional sports car is too flashy;
  • you have enough money for a "two-wheel drive" S-version;
  • you like to ride with the whole family with a breeze, and at the same time no one is sick in the back.

You won't like the Mercedes-AMG E63 4MATIC+ if:

  • you think that a sports car cannot be a four-door;
  • Do you think it's stupid to buy an E63 when you have a "normal" Mercedes-AMG GT sports car?
  • kitsch is more important than features and real features.

Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach (the first two words are the names of the founders, the third is the location of the company's first headquarters) - AMG for short, has been refining Mercedes power sedans for many years into a very powerful technique that can completely grind tires to dust with just one hard pedal stroke gas to the floor

The first sedan in the AMG stable was the very aggressively tuned W109 300 SEL 6.8, which was prepared specifically for racing. serial engine replaced by a more powerful V8 with a working volume of 6.8 liters with a return of 400 hp. Then came the turn of the popular W123. The company showed how fast a "sofa carrier" can be.

The W124 model has already received several charged versions: 300E AMG Hammer, E36 AMG and E60 AMG. Their forces were distributed in the range from 272 to 381 hp. This was enough to turn the honest Merce into a real torpedo.

More than 20 years have passed and the premium business sedan from Stuttgart in the AMG version has got a 5.5-liter unit under the hood with a capacity of 558 hp. The letter S at the end means that the engine develops 585 hp. It was such a car, in the toughest performance, that I got for the test.

Many admirers of the brand begin to yawn with boredom when they see the face of the restyled W212 with “merged” headlights. Unfortunately, "speed freaks" also apply to super fast AMG-S, which is different from the usual civilian version an aggressive model of the front part, predatory lines of the front fenders with the V8 Biturbo nameplate, huge 19 and 20-inch rims, behind which hefty brake discs with giant calipers are hidden. The rear is adorned with a diffuser with integrated 4-pipe exhaust. The car lacks a bit of brutality, thanks to which it could well become one of the "heroes" of the famous movie "Fast and the Furious".

Inside, as it should German car very luxurious and comfortable. At first glance, the salon is no different from the usual civilian version. Only a careful comparison reveals the logos of the German tuner AMG on the gear selector and the button next to it, with the help of which the sedate sedan, as if by magic, turns into a real Lucifer. Nearby are the on / off buttons for ESP and for changing the stiffness of the suspension. The business style of the car is emphasized by only one gadget - the IWC Schaffhausen watch, located between the deflectors on the front panel.

About Quantity inner space nothing bad to say. Both front and rear space is more than enough. A positive impression is enhanced by a 540-liter trunk. The side rollers of the front seats during cornering are constantly “pumped up” either to the left or to the right, depending on the direction of the overload. It is almost impossible to fall out of a chair in a turn.

To dwell in more detail on numerous systems does not make any sense. Imagine everything that a car can be equipped with, and feel free to double this amount. E63 is simply overloaded with equipment. However, many will enjoy it.

And now the most important moment is approaching - the moment of starting the engine. After turning the ignition key, everything in the world is forgotten, and any, even the most serious reasons for worry. Is the campaign being audited? Doesn't matter! Mistress reported pregnancy? Damn her! The wife threatens to divorce and take away her beloved dog. Let him take! This unique sound is mesmerizing. For the sake of it, there is any excuse to recover on a “journey”.

Under the hood of the AMG E63 S is a real 8-cylinder monster with 585 hp. and a torque of 800 Nm. Is the car really faster than many Porsches? Doubts disappear, even after shyly pressing the gas pedal. Dare to push the accelerator harder, you realize how strong this sedan is.

800 Nm pass through a 7-speed MCT gearbox developed by AMG engineers. Thanks to it and the all-wheel drive system, the car literally "bites" into the asphalt, reaching the first hundred in 3.6 seconds. Further acceleration is no less impressive. The speedometer needle freezes at around 250 km / h, and in the presence of a special package it “creeps” up to 305 km / h.

Driving an E63 AMG-S will require a lot of fuel. On the highway, you can see figures of 14 l / 100 km, and even 26 l / 100 km. With a light driver's foot on city avenues, fuel consumption will freely exceed 40 liters! More sedate will be able to keep within 20 liters.

Suspension and steering have nothing to do with the usual E-class. AMG S is a demonstration of the possibilities of modern automotive technology. However, during extreme driving By Russian roads with a strongly clamped suspension, at the transverse joints, in addition to tangible shocks, dull knocks are also heard.

For drivers who do not want to part with driving license, normal chassis settings are provided that turn the E63 AMG into an ordinary business sedan that does not notice holes in the pavement or bumps.

A short adventure with the Mercedes E63 AMG S brought a lot of positive emotions. Great car with outstanding abilities in ten years, it would certainly become a coveted classic. You can get complete satisfaction and real pleasure only if you have the amount of 6,000,000 rubles!

Oh, this eternal dispute about the best drive For powerful machines. Rationalists cheer for the full, purists defend the back, and the mentally ill prefer the front. For some reason, manufacturers do not take the latter seriously, so any sports car with a capacity of several hundred forces has a cardan. A cool thing - it allows you to famously take turns, effectively rush sideways and, finally, burn rubber on the spot. But when it comes to fast seconds - especially in the hands of a kettle or during the vagaries of the weather - a more complex design is needed. Although many petrolheads believe that four-wheel drive is more boring. How to please everyone?

The answer lay on the surface: why not combine both options in one? Mercedes-Benz did just that, allowing the new E63 S 4Matic+ to turn into a zwei-matic for a while. You no longer have to choose the type of drive, as in the previous generation of "super-eschki" - it is enough to agree to the top version of the new E63 with the letter S. There is more strength and a unique two-faced driving.

The rims look particularly cool in polished silver. Perhaps no amount of tuning wheels will make the E63 look even better

On the one hand, you don't have to worry about the snow under the wheels or the lap time - advanced all-wheel drive takes on some of the fine work. On the other hand, he activated a special drift mode - and you have fun without restrictions, only turning, but not turning the wheels of the front axle. It turned out something like an off-road plug-in part-time, only the other way around: it is intended for normal driving automatic circuit 4x4, and for special fun - monodrive mode. This is the main idea of the E63 S version: one the only car With several different characters. All in order to keep the old audience (giving it even more than before) and attract a new one. For example, northerners.

And do you know why this 612-horsepower monster from behind looks so that at dusk I confused it with the C 180? Because not only “golden” students burn tires in front of their native faculty, but also their successful fathers go to business meetings. Others buy a charged "yeshka" as a "gran turismo". Today you are tolerably rushing along your native destinations towards the German autobahns, and tomorrow you are already “driving” with a nimble sports car on the meanders of the French Alps. After all, an enthusiast is inherent in the occasion to pump a skill on racing track. Behind the wheel of the same E63 AMG S, which will not beg for mercy after a couple of laps.

But wasn't the predecessor the same?

There is no longer the original “eyemjish” machine selector in the center of the console. The AMG button has also disappeared, replaced by the Individual preset.

Tekhlikbez

The same name, close power in the region of six hundred “horses”, V8 biturbo, automatic with petals and Race Start function, all-wheel drive. At first glance, everything is the same, but in fact it is a completely different car. The points.

Platform. The new E63 AMG is made on the basis of the fresh E-class of the W213 generation. This means that it has its own body, an ultra-modern interior with all the innovations such as a double front panel monitor taken in a single glass and touchpads on the steering wheel spokes, as well as a full set of highly intelligent electronics. For example, the autopilot can stay in a lane for a long time without hands on the steering wheel, change lanes and do many other things that are inappropriate for a super sedan.

Engine. Over the past seven years, the name E63 for the most powerful “yeshka” has remained unchanged, but under the hood, three have changed each other different motors. General trend: less volume, more power. In 2009 it was a naturally aspirated 6.2 M156, in 2011 it was a 5.5 biturbo with the M157 index, and now it is a 4-liter M178 engine with two twin-scroll superchargers. The peak power of the S version is as much as 612 forces against 585 for the most fierce E63 of the previous generation.

In the “regular” E63, there are only 571 hp / 750 N∙m versus 612 / 850 for the S. This is because the top version of the turbine blows with an excess of 1.5 bar versus 1.3. The younger one is 0.1 s slower, 5 kg lighter and lacks a drift program

Transmission. In principle, this is still the same AMG Speedshift MCT unit with a wet multi-plate clutch instead of a torque converter, launch control and regassing functions. But now in this box there are not 7 gears, but 9, as well as a completely new electronically controlled power take-off unit for the front axle.

Drive unit. This is the most interesting. The E63 had four-wheel drive in the previous generation, but based on a differential scheme with a constant distribution of 33 to 67. In the same car, a multi-plate power take-off clutch that constantly changes the thrust distribution from 50/50 to 0/100 in favor of rear axle. This means that the wiser all-wheel drive adapts traction to road conditions in real time, and also promises a crazy drift on a 612-horsepower sedan!

Start from the "launch" is accompanied by a visual effect - when ready, the tidy pulses red

Drift for everyone and everyone?

Do not consider it vulgar, but it is difficult to describe it more precisely. Excitement before the first drift - like before the first thereby date. How to complete the task is clear only in in general terms. There are cars that are not designed for the first time. And there are those that will prompt and push, and now you are already handsome, man. What category does the monstrous E63 S fall into? I don't know. Mercedes programmatically blocked Drift Mode for the duration of the presentation, so that someone would not drift into the Portuguese vineyards! Hints?

But guesses are guesses, but you need to check. Twilight, an empty Algarve paddock, FIA GT3 factory driver Jan Seyfarth is preparing to commit a small official crime. Turns on the Race program, turns off the stabilization, the box is in manual mode, both petals are on themselves. The Drift Mode icon lights up on the dash, and the 4WD clutch prepares to rest. Writing out "bagels" of a huge radius around the site, the pros do not particularly strain with the control of the super sedan. I guess I wouldn't stress too much either.

Stabilization can be turned on, off and limited. But drifting on all-wheel drive will not work in any case - the front axle will drag the car out

But what if you try to distribute sideways not on the site, but in tighter turns or turns? Won't the E63 S wrap itself around the first tree and plow the first flower bed? Alas, there was no way to check the possibilities, but all the introductory points point to a drift that is accessible even for dummies. Precise accelerator, understandable “short” steering wheel, smooth twin-scroll traction without jumps. And even the implantation of all-wheel drive, according to the engineers, did not affect the angle of rotation of the front wheels! Looking forward to the next, less formal meeting with the car.

Track sofa

Fortunately, there were no stupid restrictions on the race track. DTM legend Berndt Schneider is up front in the AMG GT S coach coupe, and he doesn't like it when people try to "warm" him from behind. Therefore, the champion increases the pace: from about walking to Nordic walking. But for us, this is driving to the limit. It's amazing how comfortable these 1,880 kilograms (not including the driver) feel on the treacherous circuit of the Algarve!

Four-wheel drive constantly changes the distribution of traction: for example, in tight studs, almost all the moment is behind, so that the front can hook and turn, and when the steering wheel is released during acceleration, the traction moves forward to increase stability

From bunch to bunch, collapsing from the descents and soaring up the climbs, the E63 S demonstrates not only dynamics, but also stability and tenacity. Despite the fact that this is not the first task of the "sixty-third yoshka", she rides quickly and with pleasure along the track. And, importantly - without health complaints: six E63 S withstood a couple of hours of continuous sessions on the circuit! The steering wheel is short and sensitive, you don’t remember rolls, and stabilization stops traction so delicately that you won’t notice it every time without a blinking icon on the tidy.

This super sedan is very understandable in the limit, especially if you do not get greedy with entry speed and navigate the built-in driving modes. Comfort, sports and sports + leave for ordinary (and not so) roads. On the track we need Race, and not just because of the name. At first I drove in S + and could not keep the right pace - understeer and stabilization system interfered. Switching to Race, which weakens the “stub” and gives maximum rear-wheel drive and sharpness, I stopped smearing the inputs and “blunting” the outputs - a special calibration of everything and everything allowed me to keep up, but already lead in the same group of pilots.

But no matter how cool the E63 S turns, on the straights its strength is even more convincing. Only 3.4 seconds to the first hundred, and the emotions from acceleration do not dull even after 200! The feeling of Race Start is incredible. In any mode, except for “comfort”, you pressed two pedals, if desired, corrected the speed with the petals, released the brake - and the teleport is at your service. In the previous E63, this was a ritual, the description of the procedure of which would take another whole paragraph. It is a pity that the maximum speed is limited to 300 km / h, and even then with a special AMG Driver's package. However, the tuners will only be happy - the more contrasting the indicators that they can achieve will look.

The sound of the engine itself is a little far-fetched, as it is artificially amplified, but the exhaust is bubbling, albeit quietly, but in a bass voice - in the style of AMG compressors of the recent past. IN exhaust system there are 3 shutters that step-by-step adjust the volume and tone depending on the selected driving program. But you can always let the E63 S clear your throat by pressing a special key - in a rare tunnel you will forget to do this! For long-distance travel The “super-yeshka” is acoustically comfortable, as well as acceptable in terms of suspension in the softest mode of operation of the pneumatic elements.

Who needs all this?

Anyone who buys a Mercedes-AMG E63 S can afford several cars. Just like anyone is able to purchase a voice recorder, a camera and a mobile phone with a keyboard that lasts a week. But in the pocket of the majority, the notorious smartphone is still in it, which does everything at once and sits down in a couple of days. For the same reason, the insane E-class is also chosen, only at a different level of consumption. This is convenient, albeit to some extent a compromise. But many do not need more - few people make money from photography, but everyone wants to take pictures on vacation. Few race in the Russian Drift Series, but most owners fast cars likes to rock on a deserted road.

Supersedan owners are not professional racers and don't want to look unconvincing for their money. You need to press - go. Hence the four-wheel drive, and this friendly mode switch interface. Click - sport. Click - comfort. No need to change your driving style - the car changes it for you. Therefore, without all-wheel drive in the E63 S, nowhere: it’s a crime not to squeeze out the maximum dynamics, if this is the main thing in the car. And this is the whole point of the E63 S - the Mercedes managed to make a car that whispers convincingly to the owner: old man, you are special, you are very fast. At the same time, it is real fast guys do not get bored behind this wheel.
