How is the tower crane KB-403 arranged?
- The use of metal pipes in the form of a lattice structure makes the structure of the tower and boom lighter, which gives the structure greater accuracy when moving and free visual control of the actions performed.
- With the help of a cargo trolley, movably fixed on the boom, both vertical and horizontal movement of building parts and materials is carried out.
- The turntable of the KB-403 tower is made in the form of a roller circle with a diameter of 2500 mm.
- The turret is unified in design with some units of the KB-160 crane, with the exception of the design and equipment of the turret head. It differs in the length of the chain hoist ropes and the maximum possible number of installed inventory sections, as well as the design of the head section of the tower has been changed - now it has become collapsible.
- The cabin of KB-403 differs from the cabin of the base model in a more advanced design, adapted for convenient viewing at a higher crane height, and also differs in internal filling and equipment - improved insulation and heating panels. Additionally, it can be equipped with air conditioning.

For the installation of KB-403, our own tower crane mechanisms and truck cranes are used.
- Laying railroad tracks. Rail tracks with sleepers of the required length are laid on a pre-prepared site, and traffic limiters are installed along the edges of the rails.
- Installing the turntable and running frame on rail track. Installation is carried out by two truck cranes, one of which sets the platform (on the running frame, the transport position locks are removed from the swivel supports). The second truck crane, in turn, under the fastenings of the rotary supports, support carts are installed on the rail tracks. Carts are fixed in working position. Then side counterweight plates are installed on the sides of the turntable.
- Installation of a portal with a tower. The fastenings of the trussed truss of the turntable are docked with the fastenings of the crane portal. Fasten with hinged bolts. Next, a control cabin is mounted on the tower and struts with blocks are placed on the tower. Then, in turn, the main counterweight plates are placed on the turntable. A clip is attached to the fastening rods of the lower clip of the boom pulley block. The crane ropes are reeved and the electrical equipment is adjusted.
- Lifting the crane and assembling the boom. The crane is lifted by its own mechanisms. Installation of working struts to hold in a vertical position. The boom is assembled using a truck crane. After the boom is assembled, the crane hook frame is installed and the boom ropes are reeved (boom bracing, cargo rope). If necessary, the crane is built up with additional (inventory) sections of the tower.

When dismantling the cranes, all the above actions are carried out in reverse order, in accordance with the installation instructions and the Safety Regulations. Dismantling is carried out using truck cranes and own mechanisms. Installation, dismantling, extension, and extraction of crane sections is prohibited with a raised boom. On the running frame of the crane, the slewing weathercocks are fixed in the transport position. The boom is completely removed from the crane together with the cargo trolley and loaded separately from the rest of the crane (tower, head section, portal) onto transport. Take off cargo trolley from the boom during transportation is not necessary. Each element of the crane is transported in parts (a turntable with a support frame, a control cabin, inventory sections of the tower, an boom with a cargo trolley, ballast plates, support trolleys). For transportation on highways, rolling carts and / or a truck tractor are used as transport.
To transport a crane, it is necessary to coordinate with the traffic police (issuing a travel permit, obtaining an escort car - in accordance with the Rules of the Road).
