  • we bend the resulting petal and get the opportunity to gently knock out the damaged hairpin with a hammer;
  • if the pin is bent, it must be shortened with a hacksaw where the bend ends;
  • we insert a new stud so that its knurling coincides with the knurling in the hub, and carefully hammer it in;
  • from the side of the thread, insert a gasket (usually a nut of a larger diameter) and press the stud with a wheel nut until the hub head is firmly pressed against the hub flange; Then we collect everything in the reverse order.

Rear wheel stud replacement

Replacing the Solaris wheel studs is also simple and can be done on your own. The procedure is as follows:

  • we raise the car with a jack near the wheel where the pin is damaged;
  • put stops under other wheels;
  • remove the rear wheel where the stud is damaged;
  • remove the caliper and put it aside so as not to interfere;
  • remove the brake disc, as described above;
  • we get access to the damaged hairpin and knock it out;
  • insert a new stud, hammer and tighten it, as shown above;

Assemble the knot in reverse order. As you can see, the studs on the front wheels change quite simply, but on rear procedure even easier - there the protective cover does not interfere.

We will not tell our long story about how the hairpin broke and how we had to go to the store slowly and carefully. Usually, as you might guess, the stud breaks when working with the wheel, but it is relatively easy to replace it with a new one, and not only Hyundai example solaris.

5. Now worth it new problem in front of us: you need to decide something with a protective cover, since it prevents you from pulling out the pin. On all forums they write that it is easy to bend it back, but in our case it began to deform greatly during such an operation. It was decided to make a small incision, which allowed it to be bent in two parts, as it were.

6. We knock out the broken pin with a hammer and drive in a new one. It was very difficult for us to enter it, they even smeared it with grease and worked well with a hammer before fully inserting the pin.

7. It remains to return the casing to its original position, of course, you can’t bring it to its original state, but it’s better than completely deforming it or cutting out pieces altogether.
