What is more profitable than a taxi private car. Why do you need a car? It's expensive and inconvenient! The problem of public transport in Russia

Good afternoon friends! Come on, let's list together the main criteria by which it is customary to identify successful person . So, the list will certainly include your own apartment, nice car in the garage and money in the bank account. But let's see, is it really necessary to have your own car to make your travel comfortable, or will it be cheaper to take a taxi and not worry about the safety of the car? In this article, I suggest that you turn to banal mathematics, common sense and find out what is more profitable, a taxi or Personal car.

Traveling without your own car: what to choose?

Agree, there are a lot of alternatives to your own car. You and I can always use public transport, ask friends or acquaintances who have their own car to give us a lift to work or a supermarket if they are going the same way with you anyway, or simply call a taxi. Let's talk about each option in more detail.

The problem of public transport in Russia

Since most of you, dear readers, live in Russia, you know that we have a big problem with public transport. Unfortunately, in our country there is no such thing as a bus that arrived at a stop at a time clearly indicated in the schedule. That is why in transport a constant hustle and bustle, a bunch of dirt, and rudeness is a constant companion in all our trips.

However, the undoubted advantage of this method of transportation can be considered a low fare. In all countries of the former Soviet Union for a ticket on a tram or bus, you will need to pay 10 times less than for travel in the USA, Germany or, for example, the Czech Republic.

Search for fellow travelers

Traveling with friends can be a great option. However, this is only appropriate if your schedules match and you go in the same direction. If you don’t have such a friend, then you can always use the services of various services that help in finding fellow travelers for a small fee. It happens that even it is possible to find free trips if the owner of the car is simply looking for a company in which he will get to his work. In general, be that as it may, but this option will be much cheaper than a taxi ride, but more expensive than public transport.

Taxi as a lifesaver

And finally, the last alternative to your own car is a taxi. The comfort of your movements this case will be comparable to that in the case of fellow travelers, but the price will be much higher. It is quite possible that it will be two or even three times more than if you were looking for a companion for a trip on one of the services. Fortunately, in big cities there are a huge number of competing taxi services, and therefore you can always choose a company whose rates would suit your wallet.

Speaking of taxis. Just recently, a company of a good friend of mine decided to stop paying for parking spaces for their employees in order to save money. Now he has to pay 1940 rubles a day for parking in the very center of Moscow.

Even taking into account the fact that he works on a shift schedule every three days, the amount still turns out to be considerable. That is why, literally after a week of such trips, he decided to take a taxi. Trips from his home in the near Moscow region to work and back cost him 1,500 rubles. In the meantime, a friend is at war with his superiors for a place for a car, I decided to calculate, which is more profitable: taxi or private car?

We calculate the budget for a taxi

I’ll tell you a little secret right away and tell you that in order to understand for sure whether it’s cheaper to take a taxi or still use own car, you need to start from what city do you live in. To be more precise, it all depends solely on taxi fares. Maintenance of cars largely depends on their class, and not on location. In order for our calculations to be correct, I propose to find out how much a taxi ride costs if we are dealing with cars of three categories:

  • « comfort»
  • « business»
  • « premium»

For calculations, I decided to take forty-minute trips in such megacities as Moscow and St. Petersburg, since it is simply impossible to get to your destination there faster during rush hour, or, if we are talking about traveling at unloaded times, 30-kilometer trips. In all other cities, fifteen-minute or 15-kilometer trips are taken for calculations. Since most of you work 5 days a week, then in a month it turns out 21 trips to the office and back. Based on this, I came up with the following table monthly taxi costs:

It is obvious that in Moscow and St. Petersburg one does not have to puzzle over whether a car is profitable or not. In these cities, even an expensive car with full insurance will cost you less than a taxi. The only exception may be if you use the car only twice a week - then, of course, the taxi wins. I advise you to sit down and calculate how often you need a car, how much the average trip costs, and then evaluate whether it is cheaper for you to drive a taxi or use a car. Will help in making a decision which was covered earlier in my separate article. I strongly recommend it for reading to anyone who aspires to financial independence.

List of modern inexpensive taxis

Today, to find the most profitable taxi, you do not need to study the tariffs of all existing automotive companies, call them or browse sites on the Internet and clarify latest prices. You just need to download to your smartphone mobile app , and you will receive all the information you are interested in regarding which taxi is more profitable, in just a couple of minutes. In each service, you will have the opportunity to receive nice bonuses in the form of promotional codes for free trips. You just need to enter the code during registration, and you can either ride a taxi at a discount, or at all for free.

I suggest that you do not waste your time looking for programs, but use one of my list of the best mobile taxi apps that are available in most major cities. When registering using my links or manually entering a promotional code, you will receive discounts or 1-2 free rides:

  • Taxi Uber . Promo code - 8e8m3c
  • gett taxi . Promo code - GTMULXL
  • Yandex Taxi. Promo code - adjzicah

We calculate the budget own car

Well, now let's calculate our costs of maintaining and maintaining our own car in a similar way. We will make the calculation for several items of expenses, among which there will be insurance, parking, regular washing cars (we will take once a week) and, of course, the purchase of gasoline. To be honest, I decided to make a table with the cost of cars in three classes - budget, family and business. We believe that the time of owning an average car in Russia is 3.5 years (42 months) and lay 5 thousand for Maintenance budget car per month. Here's what I ended up with:

budget carfamily carBusiness class car
Car cost400 000 rubles800 000 rubles1,600,000 rubles
Insurance and payment for annual parking46 000 rubles87 000 rubles168 000 rubles
Gasoline expenses7 000 rubles8 000 rubles12 000 rubles
Wash three times a month1 500 rubles1 500 rubles2 800 rubles
Maintenance5 000 rubles8 000 rubles15 000 rubles
TOTAL per month26 857 rubles43 798 rubles81 895 rubles

Pragmatic Calculation

Well, now let's move on to just numbers: given the endless traffic jams in Moscow and St. Petersburg, distances and taxi prices, in these cities you do not have to rack your brains and decide whether it is profitable to have a car, the answer is obvious, and it positive. Even if the car is expensive, you will have a full CASCO, it will still be cheaper. Daily use of taxi services in such megacities is extremely expensive: monthly expenses are almost equivalent to the average salary in the city (literally in 2016 it was 60 thousand rubles). In this case, there is no need to puzzle over whether the taxi business will be profitable or not, because if you refuse a premium taxi and invest in buying your own business class car, your costs will pay off in two and a half years. And this is even if we take into account the maintenance of this car.

If the need for a car arises infrequently - 2-3 times a week, when you need to return home from a restaurant on Friday evening or take heavy bags from a supermarket, it will be more profitable to use a taxi. Since you will be traveling mainly on weekends, you will need a car no more than 8 days a month. For this comfort, you will have to pay no more than 12,000 rubles, which in any case is less than if you service the car. In addition, you do not have to worry about changing tires, repairing and renewing insurance.

In small towns, where taxi rides take up to 20 minutes on average, a car on call service will be more profitable than maintenance. expensive car equivalent to maintaining a middle-class car and more expensive than driving budget car. Therefore, in this case, the choice will depend on what class of car you want to drive. If the car costs less than 800 thousand rubles, feel free to buy - the service will cost you less than taxi rides. However, such an investment will pay off only on the condition that you use transport daily and travel long distances.

Keeping a "weekend car" in cities such as Yekaterinburg, Voronezh and Novosibirsk will be unjustified. Judge for yourself: an average family from Voronezh, who uses taxi services only on weekends (that is, 8 days in a month), will spend only 8,000 rubles on their trips. At the same time, servicing a used domestic car(even without insurance) will cost much more.

"Romantic" calculation

Well, now let's move away from boring numbers a bit and try to compare what advantages each of the options has. After all, no matter what I write, you can’t take a taxi with friends on a weekend trip. But an old Nissan next to a restaurant will not look as romantic on a first date as a brand new yellow checkered car.

Advantages of a taxi

Benefits of owning a car

  1. You you will love your car
  2. You will have an invaluable opportunity to take off for a weekend in another city with family or friends, without adjusting to the dates and without thinking about buying tickets
  3. You can always help your loved ones with transportation
  4. You will enjoy the joy of driving

Summing up

To finally understand the benefits of implementing one of the described scenarios, it is enough to do the following:

  1. Count up how often do you need a car within a month
  2. Find out how much a trip costs on average
  3. In a separate calculation column, sum up the costs of insurance, parking, car wash services, seasonal change rubber. Then increase the resulting amount by another 3-5% to lay here also Unexpected expenses
  4. Now find the difference between all your trips during the month and the amount of car service.
  5. Count how many months must pass from the date of purchase of your own car for your investment to pay off

Exceptions to general rules

Used cars and their features

It is quite obvious that not all motorists in our country can afford a brand new foreign car. Unfortunately, most of the purchases, as before, take place on secondary market. However, the same arithmetic works here. If in your city the cost of a taxi ride does not exceed 200 rubles, you regularly go to work, and you don’t feel like using public transport at all, the annual cost of maintaining a car should not exceed 150,000 rubles. For this money, you can only buy an old, most economical in terms of fuel consumption, and at the same time not insured car. In other words, the car should be such that you would not be sorry to throw it in a landfill after it has served you for several years.

Capital cities

Moscow and St. Petersburg are exceptions to general rule because in these cities average cost taxi ride is 550 rubles. This almost three times more than in other cities, albeit millionaires. But at the same time, the car park in megacities is much more expensive. Refusal to buy cars in these cities will make you a potential owner of a bank deposit of one and a half million rubles. And he will provide you stable passive income of 240 thousand rubles a year.

I think that those of you who have ever played the game of "" know how important passive income is in order to get out of the rat race. Unfortunately, this amount will not be enough for you to ensure the freedom of movement that your own car will allow you. But in any case, this is more profitable than endless car maintenance, which requires about 400 thousand rubles annually. In turn, using taxi services will require money from you only for the time that the car will be on the road, and the driver of the car will work for you.

Outlying areas

And finally, the third exception to the general rule is the case if you live somewhere out of the way, where taxis either refuse to go, or ask for too much for a call.

For example, if you live in a country house, where you constantly need to bring Construction Materials, garden tools, and the stores you need are located in the distant kingdom, the purchase of a car will be an economically justified undertaking. After all, it is obvious that you will travel often and quite far.

Conclusion

A little more and lovers of their vehicles can say goodbye to their car, the fact is that you will have to pay in full for existing and new road constructions, as well as for parking and parking lots. Of course, not directly, but indirectly: fuel for cars will only increase in price, toll roads will be another reason for fewer motorists, the same applies to parking and parking spaces.

“Strategy 2020” is a government program (one of the final options), which has been worked on for a whole year, tirelessly. And no matter how much this document is rewritten, some points will be inviolable, it remains to wait for approval at the highest level. And as for the Russian motorists, it will directly affect them.
The tax on oil products will be increased, export duties on oil will be canceled, and duties on oil will be canceled completely.
There are several versions of this scenario, the worst of which is a rise in gasoline prices of more than twenty percent. And, of course, the main minds of this process want to increase fuel excises by a higher amount, that is, by raising them to seven or eight rubles per liter. The Federal Antimonopoly Service showed its ingenuity in introducing "floating" excise taxes in order to keep prices in the fuel market.
Since most motorists are "state employees", the tax service has found itself here, they believe that the burden should be much increased, "they say, there is no need to relax." The authors of "Strategy-2020" believe that paying only half of the costs is a very unconvincing and ineffective waste of money, and this small indicator should be taken to a new one hundred percent level.
Car owners are sure that for the use of roads they lay out a significant amount of money, such costs as: (payment of transport tax and purchase of very expensive gasoline). According to motorists, the authorities do not see what is happening on the roads, constant traffic jams in big cities, off-road. And of course, the fact that motorists are not brought to the attention of the fact that on road infrastructure only fifty percent is paid, and this, in turn, is justified excise taxes on fuel and transport tax.
A huge number of motorists are the second link after our pensioners, the largest link in the budgetary support. In foreign practice, this situation has no analogues - approved in government program. What can we say about the crazy idea, to pay for every kilometer traveled by car. And how can one not look at their foreign comrades, the authors of "Strategy-2020" took a direct example from the Netherlands, they have long decided "If you like to travel a lot - love and pay a lot!". To do this, cars registered in Russian Federation will be stuffed in without fail GLONASS systems (Global Navigation Satellite System), according to this system, the amount of payment will be calculated, after which motorists will get rid of such a thing as “transport tax”.
Well, after all that has been said, how not to knock out motorists retro car: it is possible to introduce fractional tariff differentiation ( axial load, dimensions, power, etc.), and what is not unimportant for the categories of owners is a miracle of technology. The location of the parking lot or parking space will be evaluated according to its location, i.e. the entrance to the center will thus become expensive pleasure, while parking or a parking space on the outskirts of large cities will remain conditionally free. And expensive "property" will be managed by the owners, that is, our "Caring Government".

IN modern world, with its rhythms and tempos, time is the essential factor of human life. We are planning our work time, your leisure and life. We have to be more mobile and flexible in order not to get out of the social rhythm and the world of clearly defined objects with certain qualities.

Objects among which we move, which resist us and which we can influence. And in order to optimize and improve our lives, we use modern services of civilization, namely taxi services.

But we are faced with a choice of what is better and more profitable: to use taxi services or still use our own vehicles for travel.

The advantages of a taxi over your own transport

You don't have to drive yourself

This is very convenient when you are tired after work or return late, for example, from a corporate party. A taxi will quickly arrive anywhere in the city and at any time of the day and take you home, which, of course, is very convenient, especially if you spent your evening in an institution in the company of acquaintances and friends.

No need to pay for car parking

Now, perhaps, this is one of the most significant problems of large cities, because. the number of cars on the roads of the city is growing, but the number of free parking spaces, unfortunately, is not. And the cost of a parking space for your car is not low. For example, the cost of a parking space at the railway station in Orenburg since June 2018 has the following form:

  • the first hour - 100 rubles;
  • more than 1 hour and up to a day - 200 rubles.

So why would you pay extra money for parking if you can use taxi services. Moreover, taxi-only parking lots are marked with special road signs and they can park on them for free to wait new order or rest. Parking lots are located in the busiest places where citizens most often call a taxi. Thanks to the parking lots, the waiting time for cars by passengers has been reduced.

No unexpected interruptions

Do not forget that there are circumstances that are beyond our control. They knock us out of our usual pace and ruin our plans. For example, a personal car suddenly broke down and does not want to go. Or bad weather conditions can disturb our peace: a sharp drop in temperature, ice, etc. In such cases, taxi services are indispensable. The crew is always ready and waiting for their client in any weather. And also a taxi will save you time for warming up your own car in the morning, washing the car and finding detour routes (traffic jams).

Saving time for refueling and more

Taxi arrives already filled. And you don't have to include a gas station in your travel plans. By the way, the lack of cash in your pocket is absolutely no reason to panic and look for ways out of this situation: you just need to pay for the order by bank card through the taxi app. To do this, you need to order a taxi through the official mobile application and pay for the fare with a card. It is very mobile, simple and convenient.

Vacation has not been canceled

If you are going to go somewhere to relax and are not sure about the safety of your car in the parking lot of the station or airport, then it is best to use a taxi. Plus, you won't have to worry about how to fit all your luggage. The taxi fleet has any model of car, of various levels of comfort from a sedan to a minivan, which will be a plus in transporting your luggage: from a suitcase to your beloved pet.

Own car has become a luxury

I would like to pay special and main attention to the fact that you can say that you go somewhere on own car cheaper. However, if we take into account the cost of gasoline, for example, the cost of gasoline for 1 liter of AI-92 is now set at 39 rubles, and AI-95 - 42 rubles. Oil change about 6000 rubles. Car wash from 150 rubles. and above (only for washing the top of the body), as well as regular technical inspections car. Do not forget that the OSAGO policy will cost you a lot of money (it all depends on your brand of car, which you have to pay every year) ...

So it turns out that the operation personal car mobile is not so cheap compared to the amount of payment for a taxi ride. And taking into account personal needs, it can become many times more expensive.

I accepted the initial conditions as follows: every weekday we go to work at a distance of 7 km. On weekends, we go out to visit or park within the city - twice a week .. Once a month we ride along the intercity within a radius of 120 km (say, in Miass).

I calculated the costs for two types of personal cars: a budget new one at a price of 350 thousand rubles (let it be Lada Granta) and the main price for 700 thousand rubles (such as Citroen C4, Ford Focus or Volkswagen Golf). Taxi also took two varieties: cheaper (private traders) and full-fledged.

It is clear that the numbers are conditional - everyone has their own situation, and one can argue about each parameter. But I'm not even interested in the exact value, but in the order of magnitude.

Car expenses, annual, rub.

Item of expenses

Car for 350 thousand rubles

Car for 700 thousand rubles

Fuel (mileage - 11 thousand km, fuel price - 33 rubles, consumption - 10 l / 100 km)

Parking (1500 rubles per month)

Maintenance

Tire fitting

Absent

Loss of value (in early years)

Others (scrapers, washer, etc.)

Transport tax

Total

In this calculation, I take the mileage calculated based on the above conditions. It is clear that having a car, sometimes we can make an optional trip. But I do not consider trips to Sochi or Vladivostok by car: in the end, the need for a personal car for such tours is generally very controversial - sometimes a plane will be more optimal in terms of price / time / risks. In short, I take into account the necessary minimum trips so that the conditions are comparable.

Taxi expenses, annual, rub.

Budget Taxi(Dispatching service)

Full taxi (with own fleet)

Daily trips (price x round trip x number of days)

120x2x250= 60.000

180x2x250=90.000

Weekend trips (price x round trip x number of days)

160x2x100=32.000

220x2x100=44.000

Intercity trips (price per kilometer x number of kilometers x number of trips)

8 x 240 x 12 = 23.000

12 x 240 x 12=34.560

Total

My rough calculation shows that car and taxi costs are more or less comparable. Here I must immediately admit that I chose the schedule of not the most mobile citizen of Russia, and if someone's work is connected with constant traveling, the question of a taxi, in principle, is not worth it. The cheaper the car we take, the less we care about it and the farther we drive, the greater the economic efficiency of a personal car.

In addition to price, of course, everyone is concerned about convenience. In the table below, I have compiled the pros and cons of taxi rides, regardless of the cost of pleasure.

Pros and cons of a taxi

Served at the entrance

In winter, you do not need to heat the interior and scrape the ice

You can drive drunk

On the trip, you can do your own business or sleep

Minimum maintenance hassle

Minimum hassle due to an accident or serious damage

Can be effectively combined with travel by public transport, walking or cycling

No problem with parking

Requires great organizational efforts: plan the day, call in advance, wait

More risk of being late

Possible problems with a call in heavy weather conditions (hard frost, sudden snowfall)

Difficulty traveling with children Baby chair)

There is a risk of running into an inadequate driver or a faulty / miserable car

Need to endure the presence of someone else in the cabin

Limited opportunities for spontaneous travel, especially long distances

Not so prestigious/interesting

As I see it, almost all the noted disadvantages of a taxi (except the last one) are not the disadvantages of the mode of transport as such, but the problems of local operators. If you imagine some kind of civilized service, which also appreciates regular customers, almost all the disadvantages can be reduced to nothing. In the end, a personal car can break down on the road or get stuck in a parking lot in a snowfall.

This little analysis brings me to the conclusion that a taxi, in principle, could be an alternative to a private car. Truth to be transformed from a means to emergencies into everyday transport, taxis must evolve. Let's say operators should appear with their fleet from identical cars. There should be driver control. There should be a convenient system for ordering a taxi and paying (for example, through an electronic application - they exist). Perhaps you need a taxi in the English style with a separate passenger compartment, where you can hardly see the driver. Then, you see, someone would have entrusted them with their lives on routine trips.

But my calculations work if a person, in principle, refused to buy a personal car in favor of a taxi. But what kind of credibility should taxis gain for this? And won't such a taxi be many times more expensive than the semi-official services that we use now? And if you have your own car, then paying for it in the parking lot seems to be completely stupid.

I do not urge everyone to sell the car and rush into the arms of taxi drivers. But in principle an efficient taxi service could be one way of curbing motorization. For example, good taxi instead of a second car for the family - why not?
