Disassembly

Fully compress the suspension spring with tool J38401, A2 and install it on the suspension strut.

Withdrawal

Remove the front wheel.

Press the ball joint pin of the tie rod end out of knuckle using puller 09568-34000 ( rice. 4.11).

Remove the bolts securing the suspension strut to the steering knuckle.

Loosen the mounting bolts of the silent blocks A and G (Fig. 4.13 ) suspension arm.

Remove the suspension arm.

Installation

Installation of the suspension arm is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Tighten threaded connections the points below.

Tightening torque, Nm:

Replacing the ball joint and protective cover of the front suspension strut

Removing the ball joint and protective cover

Remove the ball joint boot with a flat blade screwdriver ( rice. 4.14).

Use tool 09545-1C000A/B to install the circlip ( rice. 4.15).

Checking the technical condition

Check the following:

– silent blocks for wear and damage;

– Suspension arm for deformation or breakage;

– all mounting bolts for damage and deformation;

Removing the hub

Remove the front wheel.

Knock out the cotter pin and unscrew the hub nut front wheel.

Remove the caliper assembly from the shoe guide and brake pads from the steering knuckle and hang it on a technological hook or wire to the car body.

Remove the wheel speed sensor from the steering knuckle.

Using a puller 09568-34000, press the ball joint pin of the tie rod end out of the steering knuckle ( rice. 4.19).

Front suspension hub bearing replacement

Using a puller 09568-34000, press out the pin of the ball joint of the suspension arm from the pivot arm.

Install the washer under the hub nut with the concave side inward, as shown in rice. 4.20.

Disconnect the wheel drive shaft from the hub.

Disconnect the suspension strut from the steering knuckle.

Remove the steering knuckle assembly with the hub.

Installation

Disassembly

Remove brake disk from the hub by unscrewing the two fixing screws.

Remove tools 09517-21500 and 09517-29000 and the mudguard.

Checking the technical condition

Check the hub for cracks and the splines for wear.

Check the brake disc for nicks or other damage.

Check the steering knuckle for cracks.

Check the bearing for cracks and damage.

Apply a light coat of multipurpose grease to the mating surfaces of the steering knuckle and bearing outer race.

Using tool 09532-31200A, press the hub bearing into the steering knuckle.

Assembly

Press the bearing inner race out of the hub using tool 09495-33000.

Using tools 09517-02000 and 09977-21811, press the outer ring of the hub bearing out of the knuckle.

Install the mudguard ring.

Remove tool 09517-21500.

The maximum permissible moment of resistance to rotation of the hub bearing must be no more than 0.99 Nm.

If the torque is zero, check the axial clearance in the bearing.

Roll Stabilizer

Remove the stabilizer bar bracket bolts ( rice. 4.28).

Remove the stabilizer bar.

Checking the technical condition

Check the stabilizer bar for material degradation and damage.

Check all mounting bolts for damage or deformation.

Check the stabilizer bar ball joint boot for cracks or damage.

Check the torque of the stabilizer strut ball joints ( rice. 4.29).

If there is a crack in the ball joint boot, replace the boot with a new one, putting grease into it.

Rock the ball joint pin a few times.

Tighten the self-locking ball joint nut and measure the turning torque of the ball joint pin. It should be equal to 0.7–2 N m.
