    However, such a task will require you to have basic knowledge in this matter, otherwise, due to frivolity or ignorance, you can enter into a serious conflict with tax and other legislation, which can result in large fines or even a prison sentence for actions classified as fraud against the state.

    Horsepower and vehicle tax

    Immediately I will briefly provide you with the most necessary general data directly related to our question, since not everyone may know them.

    For example, what is meant by horsepower, in this case. This is not at all what you may have heard about in physics class. And there is little in common with the horse and its draft efforts.     There it is called “tax horsepower”. Its value relative to the car in different countries is calculated differently. Usually this is the squared value of the diameter of the cylinders, which is multiplied by their number and divided by a certain factor.

    Important! Keep in mind that tax horsepower (a measure of the tax law) and horsepower (an obsolete measure of physical effort) are not at all the same thing and far from being equal to each other.     True, this cart does not stand still. For more than five years, there has been talk in the Duma about the need for the complete abolition of the transport tax and the introduction of expenses for the road department into the cost of fuel.     On the other hand, rumors began to circulate that the cost of roads in the price of gasoline was still introduced and is “running in” the levels of finance receipts. I don’t know how true this is, but it looks very plausible, because a simple abrupt cancellation could have suffered a complete financial fiasco.

    Motorists, in general, are not against preliminary monitoring of the action new system, but they are afraid that the state husbands would then feel sorry for parting with a double income.

    As for the transport tax itself, in the Russian Federation it does not have clear meanings and is regional. That is, each region sets its own tariffs on this account. The only thing is that these values ​​\u200b\u200bcannot exceed or be lower than the base ones (recommended by the state) by 10 times.

    Therefore, the need to lower horsepower (HP) is also highly dependent on the region of registration of the owner.

    So, is it legal to change the engine power of a car in a “better” direction in order to reduce the tax? Can.

    But I immediately warn you that, unfortunately, there are no easy ways here, and some advise you to pay and not "bother with this hemorrhoids." It is true, but what if the tax is under 100 thousand per year and more, and the car from the rich grandfather was left as an inheritance? How do you keep it if you don't want to sell it?

    Among motorists, the most well-known are three legal ways to reduce drugs, which include:

    • Correction of data error in PTS;
    • Replacement of the motor unit;
    • Aggregate deforcing.

    This method is the least expensive of all, since it does not imply the need to redo anything in the internal combustion engine. However, this does not mean at all that this option easy.     Then you can again storm the traffic police, having already two serious documents in your hands:

    • The conclusion of the official representation of the brand;
    • Conclusion of an independent technical expertise of internal combustion engines.

    You may be denied again, but this time you have every right to demand a written justification for the refusal.     But this, again, is not enough. You must follow the process of transferring the changed data to the tax office.     Replacement of the propulsion unit

    This is a fairly obvious method for many motorists. According to it, you carry out an official replacement (the so-called swap) of the internal combustion engine with a less powerful one. Of course, for this you need to spend money on an additional motor, which must be legally clean and have all the documentation necessary for its registration.

    Just for many brands, on which taxes are especially high, such engines are very expensive, unfortunately. But that doesn't stop everyone.

    The scheme of actions here is simple:

    • Buying an engine
    • Doing a reinstallation of the internal combustion engine;
    • Carry out the examination already described;
    • Register the reinstallation and approve the examination in the traffic police;
    • Control the change in your tariff in the tax office.

    However, with the new engine itself, not everything is so simple.

    On top of that, it must actually match:

    • Manufacturer's certificate - when buying contract used units, it is better to take a person who understands them to help;
    • Legislation of the Russian Federation regarding environmental requirements;
    • The engine must be a less powerful version of the same model line or officially authorized by the manufacturer to be replaced with another model.

    The handicraft work of non-certified workshops is still absolutely not allowed, because after the replacement you will need an official opinion on it from the senior brigade of auto mechanics.

    But the change of the internal combustion engine to a less powerful one does not suit everyone. Therefore, after successfully changing their tax rate, some motorists “throw to quiet” engines in the reverse order. This is quite safe, because the engine number, with its model correspondence, is not checked by the traffic police on the roads, and even more so, it is not checked against the tax.     Aggregate deforcing

    If the design features of your internal combustion engine provide for this, then to reduce the number of drugs, the unit can be deformed. Deforcing consists in a technical modification of the engine according to the scheme provided by the manufacturer.

    • The last item, as usual, controls the change in your tax rate.

    As you can see, there are quite a few subtle places, in any of them the authorities can show certain arbitrariness and their own interpretation of legislative norms.
