How to turn on the fan from the button on the VAZ-2106 is an urgent question in the hot season. Meanwhile, to make such a refinement is not so difficult.

There are two types of cooling fans on the VAZ-2106. On the old "sixes" they were mechanical, driven by the crankshaft of the engine, and on newer machines - with electric motor and an automatic switch. A mechanical fan is more reliable in the heat, but it is completely unnecessary in winter, which is why it was replaced by an electric “fellow”.

The second glass heating button actually turns on the engine cooling fan

The electric cooling fan on the "six" is turned on due to the operation of a sensor installed in the main radiator. But often this sensor fails and then there is a threat. That is why it is worth making a fan switch button in the VAZ-2106 cabin. How to make such a system?

The meaning of such a refinement is to run your own parallel to the factory power line and “along the way” put a button in the cabin. To understand how it should work, let's take a closer look at the principle of operation of a cooling fan on a classic.

The fan activation sensor is wrapped in the right (in the direction of the car) tank of the main radiator from below. It is purely mechanical, that is, there is no electronics inside. When the antifreeze in the radiator is heated to a certain temperature (the sensors are different, but, on average, it is 92 degrees), the contacts close inside the sensor and voltage is applied to the fan switch-on relay.

To organize the inclusion of the engine cooling fan from the button in the cabin, you need to be able to apply voltage to the relay directly, bypassing the sensor in the radiator. This will require about seven meters of wire, electrical tape, pliers and screwdrivers.

On idle engine remove one of the two wires from the fan on sensor and bite off its terminal. , and we clamp the factory wire and our own into the new terminal, which we will subsequently lead to the salon. We reliably crimp the terminal, isolate it with electrical tape or put on a standard factory rubber band and put it on the sensor.

When the hole for the button is ready, we connect the key itself. It needs to be connected. This scheme allows not only to turn on the fan, but also lights an orange signaling device inside the key.

After the key is connected and installed in a new hole, the rest of the wire must be routed back to the sensor in the radiator and connected in the same way through the new terminal to the second factory wire of the sensor. It turned out parallel circuit.

Now turn on the battery, ignition and press the button. If everything is done correctly, the cooling fan will turn on at any engine temperature. This happens because now the current can pass not through the sensor, but bypassing it through new wires. By pressing the button, we, as it were, simulate the operation of the sensor in the radiator and, accordingly, do not depend on its performance.

Turning on the engine cooling fan from the button in the cabin is a very convenient thing. However, rely on it completely, replacing it automatic switch on, is not always convenient, because you have to constantly monitor the temperature of the engine. Under the conditions, for example, big city often there is simply no time to look at the devices, so it is better to use the built-in system as an auxiliary one that will come to the rescue in the event of a sudden failure of the factory sensor.

The engine performance depends on the VAZ 2114 radiator cooling fan when driving in hot weather, with a load and, especially, in traffic jams. Sometimes the fan thermostat does not work and the motor overheats.

It is difficult to fix such a breakdown on the spot, so it is better to install a forced fan button in advance, with which you can turn on the radiator cooling if necessary to prevent the engine from overheating.

What you need to install the VAZ 2114 fan switch button

Before you make a button on the VAZ 2114 fan, you need to prepare the following components:

  • four-pin relay;
  • button mounted in the dashboard;
  • connecting terminal blocks for relays and power buttons;
  • 5 meters of wire with a cross section of 0.75 mm2

Button wiring diagram

To be able to turn on the fan manually, the VAZ 2114 fan switch button is installed in onboard network in parallel with a thermal switch, which is triggered by an increase in the temperature of the coolant. There are two options for connecting the button: directly or using an electromagnetic relay.

In the first case, through the contacts, the buttons will break too high current and quickly fail. That's why correct connection fan must be produced only through a relay. In this case, only a small current will pass through the button, which controls the electromagnet of the relay.
A pair of wires is connected to the outputs of the relay contacts (those that are open when the electromagnet is not powered): one from the output of the thermal relay, the other from the input. In this case, when voltage is applied to the relay solenoid, the radiator fan will turn on. The “ground” of the relay can be connected to the nearest bolt, and the “plus” can be connected from the fuse box. Moreover, it is better to connect it to the fuse outlet, which is de-energized when the ignition is off. For example, to fuse F10. In this case, even if you forget to turn off the fan, it will stop working after the ignition is turned off. Otherwise, there is a risk of putting the battery “to zero”, leaving the car in the parking lot with the fan on.

Installing the forced fan button VAZ 2114

You should start work by disconnecting the “ground” terminal from the battery so that there is no short circuit during the wiring process.
The procedure for installing the button is as follows:

  1. Prepare a block to which the VAZ 2114 fan force button will be connected. To do this, leave 4 terminals with wires on it: two central ones for button illumination and two corner ones for controlling the power supply circuit of the electromagnetic relay.
  2. Connect to the electric fan power wires that go to the K1 relay (terminals 30 and 87), two wires with lugs. To do this, it is necessary to strip a part of the insulation on the wires suitable for the relay and fasten the wire segments to them that will go to the relay. Ideally, it is better to solder the connection, but you can get by with just a tight twist. Connection points must be carefully insulated.
  3. Connect the tips of the connected wires to the relay block to terminals 30 and 87.
  4. Connect the control wire from the button block to terminal 85 of the relay, and connect terminal 86 with a wire to the car's ground.
Install the fan switch in a free slot on the dashboard after removing the plug.
  5. Set the relay to comfortable spot, for example, under the dashboard of the car, and secure.
  6. Connect ground to battery.
  7. Turn on the ignition and press the fan button. The relay should click and the fan motor should turn on.

This completes the installation of the forced fan button on the VAZ 2114.

Unlike Mokvichi, VAZs do not have inherent problems associated with constant boiling in the summer, and Samara even more so. But there is a moment. Even a few. Firstly, now we cannot imagine our life without traffic jams and toffees. Secondly, spare parts for VAZs are cheap, but the quality, alas, corresponds to the price ... In other words, you can boil in a traffic jam because of one small penny detail - a temperature sensor, which turns on the fan when a certain temperature is reached. And even if it does not fail, but simply will not work properly for a long time and the motor will often overheat - you can fly in for a pretty decent engine repair.

It's summer now and so this topic is quite relevant.

But there is a fairly simple option how to protect yourself from overheating the engine in a traffic jam in the hot summer and from cuckooing in the middle of the traffic jam until the engine cools down (if the sensor still closes and the engine starts to boil). It is enough just to make a button for forcibly turning on the cooling fan of the radiator.

All that is needed for this refinement is a wire and a button or toggle switch (anything, any switch that can close the circuit).

The temperature sensor is designed to close the circuit when a certain temperature is reached and thereby turn on the fan on the radiator. All we need is just to send 2 wires from the sensor into the cabin, in parallel, so to speak, and connect them to the switch. If the sensor does not turn on the fan - you can do it!

Probably, many have noticed that the temperature of turning on the fan on engines latest generation VAZ 2110 -2112 (100-105 C) is too high for the normal operating temperature of the engine (85-90 C).

First of all, this introduction is connected with the manufacturer's struggle for cleaner exhaust from the pipe of your car (requirements modern standards euro 3 and above). At this temperature, more complete combustion fuel and its constituents.

But it should be noted that, as always, this positive side for one aspect brings something negative for another. So, with a slight, but still overheating of the engine and head, irreversible physical and chemical processes occur in the metal, which ultimately affects the overall final operation of the engine hours. power unit. Apart from the fact that in the event of a failure of the electrical components that affect the switching on of the fan, the time to notice this at an overestimated temperature of the nominal switching on of 105 C to overheating of 125 C will be much less than from normal operation to overheating.

For more uniform and controlled operation of the engine, it is proposed to make a parallel circuit for switching on the fan. A positive contact is always connected to one of the fan contacts, and for the second negative contact, it is proposed to connect via a parallel wire with a switch according to Fig. 1.

After implementation this decision it only remains to mention additional features control the operating temperature of the power unit with all the subsequent positive arguments given above.

PS Many, due to the prevailing conservative views, may have the idea that in wiring diagram a relay is required to turn on the cooling fan. I am against excess and I can say that in order for the circuit to work, it is enough just to have a powerful switch rated for a current of at least 20 A for 12 Volts, that is, 240 watts (such switches are on sale - for example, 220 Volts 16 A, as in Figure 3, that is, at 3520 watts) This scheme has been successfully operating on a VAZ 21102 car, manufactured in 2001, for 3 years already. It should also be additionally noted that this method is not a replacement for the standard radiator fan operation circuit in a car and is intended only as an alternative solution for engine operation at more low temperatures controlled directly by the driver.

In any case, if the engine overheats, even if you have implemented the principle described above, still check the cooling system and ensure it is in full working order.

Emergency actions in case of overheating of the engine cooling system while driving.

At the first sign of overheating, if the arrow of the temperature gauge has gone into the red zone, but no clouds of steam escape from under the hood, turn on maximum mode interior heating. This is necessary in order to reduce the temperature of the coolant in the engine cooling system.

Turn on alarm, depress the clutch pedal and, using the momentum of the car, try to carefully move to the edge of the carriageway and stop as far to the right as possible at the curb, and if possible, outside the carriageway. Let the engine run for a couple of minutes at normal speed. idle move with included on full power heater, do not turn off the engine immediately. Open the hood and inspect the engine compartment.

After the overheated engine stops, local overheating of the coolant begins at the points of contact with the most heat-stressed engine parts and the formation of increased local overheating. In addition, it is better to start the car for 10 seconds after 2-3 minutes, so that the new volume of coolant begins to contact the engine parts.

Determine where the steam is coming from, if any. When inspecting the engine, pay attention to the presence of coolant in expansion tank(be careful not to burn yourself), on the integrity of the rubber hoses, radiator, thermostat.

Look under the dashboard on the passenger side of the passenger compartment and find out if there are any leaks or traces of coolant flowing from the heater radiator under it.

If coolant leaks are found, a burst hose can be temporarily repaired with adhesive tape or band-aids from the first aid kit.

A radiator, thermostat or heater leak is quite difficult to fix on the spot, so in such a situation it is necessary to add water to the cooling system and carefully monitor the temperature gauge while driving, periodically restoring the level in the cooling system.

The engine can overheat if the thermostat fails, which controls the flow of fluid in the cooling system through the radiator or in addition to it (to accelerate the warm-up of a cold engine). To check the thermostat, on a warm engine, check by touch the temperature of the hose connecting the thermostat housing to the radiator. If the hose is cold, the thermostat is defective and there is no circulation through the radiator.

Very often, the cause of overheating of the engine, the cooling system of which is equipped with an electric fan, is the failure of the fan. Start the engine, monitor the temperature and note if the cooling fan turns on when the engine overheats.

If the fan does not turn on, the fuse may have blown, the turn-on relay may be faulty, the motor may have burned out, or the wiring may be faulty.

Check the integrity of the wiring, the reliability of the connection of electrical connectors.

If the wiring is OK, check the fuse and replace it if it is defective.

If the fuse is good, try replacing the fan relay.

If the fan still does not turn on, check the motor. To do this, take two additional wires and power it directly from battery. Wires must be securely fastened and insulated.

If the electric motor started to work, the wiring is faulty; if not, the wiring or the motor itself is also faulty. The relay and motor are not repairable, replace them as an assembly.

Many drew attention to the fact that the temperature at which the radiator fan on the VAZ turns on is too high when compared with operating temperature motor. Manufacturers are trying to reduce harmful emissions, because at high temperature the fuel burns better with the components.

But there is not only positive effect, but also negative. If the engine overheats a little, then destructive processes begin for the metal inside, so wear resistance decreases. If you do not take into account that the electrical components that affect the switched on fan may fail, then the time to notice overheating will be less than at normal temperature.

We need to ensure that the operation of the engine is evenly controlled. This can be done due to the fact that a parallel fan switching circuit is created. A positive wire must be connected to one contact, and a negative contact is connected to the switch through a parallel wire.

It is worth mentioning the additional features that allow you to control normal temperature engine. There is no relay in the electrical circuit, since a simple switch is enough to operate.

This method is not a replacement regular scheme fan operation, but only Alternative option operation of the unit at low temperatures. The driver must control the entire process.

If the engine overheats in a car, but this connection scheme is implemented, then it is better to check the cooling system again, ensuring its operability.

As soon as signs of overheating are detected, that is, an arrow has entered the red zone, which indicates the temperature, but there is still no tangle of steam from engine compartment, then turn on the interior heater at full power.

This will help reduce the temperature of the coolant that is in the cooling system. Then you need to turn on the emergency gang, squeeze the clutch pedal and roll to the side of the road. You can’t turn off the car right away, the engine at normal idling speed is worked out for about five minutes, and the heater must still work at full power. Only now you can open the hood and inspect the engine compartment.

You need to try to determine where the steam is coming from, see if there is coolant in the expansion tank, check the integrity of the thermostat, radiator and rubber hoses.
