Motorcycle driver's license. How to get a motorcycle license and what categories to open

Motorcycle driver's license. How to get a motorcycle license and what categories to open

Category "A" rights give the driver the right to drive a motorcycle. They are one of the easiest to obtain. Motorcycles with a small engine capacity, as well as mopeds, are available for riding from the age of 16, but only with open categories M or A1.

Powerful motorcycles and motorcycles with a sidecar can be driven from the age of 18. Training is given easier themes who knows the rules traffic or already has an open category B.

Category A training includes the same as category B - a car, the difference is only in control exercises during practical driving training and the cost of training. Learning to ride a motorcycle is much cheaper and costs around 10-15 thousand rubles. Of course, apart from the fact that later you will have to go broke to pay for a medical examination (about 2,000 rubles) and a state duty for obtaining rights (still 2,000 rubles).

How to learn to ride a motorcycle

Learning to ride a motorcycle takes place in several stages. The first stage is common to all categories driving license: learning the rules of the road.

You can learn traffic rules for the subsequent passing of an exam in the traffic police both at a driving school and on your own - manuals containing rules are updated annually in bookstores. This is important - do not try to learn the rules from outdated textbooks.

The second stage is learning to drive a motorcycle. For many novice riders, the motorcycle itself looks intimidating, because it is known that it is not uncommon for falls or collisions on high speed cause disability or death.

Therefore, it is better to approach the exam with practical experience. It is clear that riding around the city on the available two-wheeled "horse" is not the best option where to learn how to ride a motorcycle is fraught with either an accident or an administrative penalty from traffic police officers.

Driving a motorcycle is taught only at the circuit. Of course, as in a car, no one will sit next to you. The instructor will explain the maneuvers, and you will practice them yourself on a training vehicle under his control.

How long does driving school take?

The full course of study is divided into theory and practice. According to the legislation, full training The exam takes 2.5 months.

  • You will have to spend at least 108 hours on theoretical classes. The rules of the road are the same for everyone. Therefore, to you, as well as to future motorists, I will explain the categories of road signs and how to read each of them correctly. They will also talk about the operation of traffic lights and the rules of the first medical care on the roads. By the way, the section "Medicine" often explains a real doctor working in an ambulance for disasters. These classes usually allocate 4 hours, no more. In addition, together with the teacher, you solve the tickets that will meet on the exam. In the course of your studies, you will be explained in detail which ticket and how it is decided. That is, from you, in a good way, only the presence and normal memory is required.
  • You will conduct practical exercises at the autodrome. On average, 18 hours are allotted for driving. It all depends on the driving school where you study. The instructor will teach you to perform the following exercises: "Dimensional corridor", "Dimensional semicircle", "Acceleration - deceleration". In other words, you will need to pull away in first gear at the starting gate. Then drive in a straight line, reach the control post, give a left turn signal by stretching your left hand up, and, passing the post, lower your hand. Similarly, it will be necessary to make a semicircle, switch speeds from low to higher and stop at the finish line, giving a signal.

The exercises “Snake” (drive with a snake around the marking cones), “Rut Board” (drive straight along the track board), “Movement with low speed" (everything is clear here) and "Dimensional eight" (drive first in a straight line in the overall corridor, then along the trajectory of the eight and return to the finish line). The same tasks will be performed in the exam.

Be careful. Since the instructor does not sit next to you, but watches your movement, standing on the road, he sees very well any slightest errors.

How to get a motorcycle license through a driving school

Experienced bikers recommend courses at a driving school that teaches category A rights for training. Driving a motorcycle is taught in the vast majority of driving schools, and exam exercises are not always immediately given even to those who have already dealt with such transport.

In total, the practical exam in the traffic police includes five exercises:

  • maneuvering in a limited space;
  • braking and stopping when driving at various speeds, including an emergency stop;
  • parking vehicle and exit from the parking space;
  • stop for the safe embarkation or disembarkation of passengers;
  • passing through a controlled intersection.

To successfully overcome the final exam in a driving school, each cadet passes both theoretical and practical lessons. During the training, the future motorcyclist rides for 10 hours - five practical sessions of two hours each, and also studies theory for 16 hours. This is not very much, but the motorcycle training is intensive, which allows you to pass a difficult exam.

Passing a practical exam

If in order to obtain a category B certificate it is necessary to pass the autodrome and the city, then for category A only the autodrome is needed. The motorcycle driving test hasn't changed much since last years, and, as a rule, the traffic police provides a vehicle to overcome the tests.

Often this is an “older” domestic motorcycle or Japanese made. If the exam is held in a small locality, the inspection may provide the opportunity to pass the exam on your motorcycle, but in large cities, as a rule, such an opportunity is not provided.

Usually, the markings for passing the exam are pre-applied to the site, the conditions for passing are strict: minimum speed and full compliance with all instructions of the inspector.

A small life hack: if it is possible to choose an examination motorcycle, it is better to take the one that is weaker. The motorcycle exam is more difficult than the car exam in the sense that here the trained eye of the inspector sees even the smallest errors, and points are reduced for this.

After the perfect completion of all the exercises, the cadet can immediately obtain category A rights in the traffic police building.

If, after receiving the coveted crust, you decide to purchase a used motorcycle, be sure to check its history using the Autocode service. This can be done by VIN-number in just 5 minutes.

To drive motorcycles and mopeds, you must have a license with open categories allowing you to drive these vehicles. What categories of driving do you need to be trained in and what are the features of passing motorcycle and moped driving exams?

Category "A", "A1", "M": what's the difference?

According to the federal law "On Road Safety", categories "A", "A1" and "M" have the following characteristics:

  • Category "A".

Category "A" gives the right to drive any type of motorcycle, including a sidecar, three-wheeled and four-wheeled, having a curb weight of up to 400 kg. Persons over the age of 18 are allowed to take the exams.

  • Subcategory "A1".

Subcategory "A1" gives the right to drive light motorcycles with low power: with an engine capacity of not more than 125 cm 3 and maximum power no more than 11 kilowatts. Persons over the age of 16 are allowed to take the exams.

  • Category "M"

Category "M" gives permission to drive mopeds and light ATVs. Also, drivers with other open categories of rights can drive vehicles that belong to the “M” category. Persons over the age of 16 are allowed to take the exams.

Driving schools are attached to a specific examination department of the state traffic safety inspectorate. When recruiting a group, the school is obliged to register each student in the traffic police cadet database.

During the training, you will have to master the theoretical and practical material, after which a certificate of completion of training for vehicles of category "A", "A1", "M" is issued.

If you decide to get a motorcycle or moped, be sure to complete training for a driver's license with the appropriate categories. So you will avoid administrative responsibility and learn how to drive vehicles correctly. When choosing a driving school, make sure you have a license and pay attention to its validity period.

A motorcycle is a favorite vehicle not only for young people, but also for more mature drivers. In 2016, some changes were adopted in the relevant legislation, which affected the procedure for obtaining rights in this category. The emergence of new subcategories and changes in the age limit of future drivers require some clarification from specialists.

Gone are the days when you have to pass a category A test to get behind the wheel of a motorcycle. Modern connoisseurs of this type of transport can get a driver's license for the following categories:

  • "A", the owner of which can drive motorcycles without limiting power and volume. Persons who are 18 years of age are allowed to study in this category.
  • "A1" for those who will drive light motorcycles. This is a technique with an engine capacity of up to 125 cubic centimeters. This also includes scooters, whose drivers massively take to the roads every summer. Restrictions on the power of the vehicle was due to the fact that they are allowed to drive from 16 years of age.
  • "M", which allows you to control a moped. Young people at the age of 16 can learn to drive this vehicle. There are features of its receipt. You can open a category without additional passing exams if there is a category "A", "A1" or "B".

When exchanging a driver's license or obtaining rights, categories "A", "A1" and "M" are automatically entered into the document.

The introduction of new subcategories has significantly improved the situation on the roads. Now young people who prefer to travel on light motorcycles and scooters are required to undergo training and pass an exam. Having a clearly defined minimum driver age has reduced the number of emergencies caused by underage drivers.

Passing the motorcycle driving test

Tougher fines have made most motorcycle and scooter owners think about how to get a motorcycle license. Training takes place in special motorcycle schools that have the appropriate licenses. Obtaining the rights of category A is possible after completing the full course, which lasts 2.5 months and passing the exam in the traffic police. The test consists of two parts. future driver passes the theoretical part and confirms his skills by demonstrating his driving skills on the site.

There are some points that every examiner should keep in mind. If you passed the theory, but “flunked” driving, then you will be allowed to retake it only after a week. A positive result obtained on the theoretical part is valid for 6 months. If the rights will be obtained after more a long period You will have to retake both parts of the exam.

Obtaining the rights to a motorcycle involves the provision of the following package of documents:

  1. applications of the established form, a sample of which can be found on the official website of the traffic police;
  2. identity cards, as a rule, passports of a citizen of the Russian Federation;
  3. receipts for payment of state duty, the amount of which is 2000 rubles;
  4. the original and a copy of the document confirming the completion of training at a driving school;
  5. an original and a copy of a medical certificate of a certain sample, and if you have category “B” rights, you will also have to provide this document.

There is no need to provide photographs for the document. Now they are made right in the traffic police department.

It should be remembered that only those private centers that have the appropriate license can perform a medical examination of drivers.

Features of obtaining a driver's license in the presence of category "B"

Motorcycles and scooters are not exclusively youth transport. Many adults dream of exciting travels on expensive bikes. How to get a category "A" license if you have a driver's license that allows you to drive a car? This question interests everyone who does not want to be fined by the traffic police inspector.

Drivers do not need to be trained. You can get a category simply by passing an exam at the nearest traffic police department. There are some features of the exam. If no more than three months have passed since the test for obtaining the rights to the car, you will not have to retake the theory. In the case when the certificate was issued a long time ago, then the rights to the motorcycle will have to pass a full exam. Similar condition due to the fact that the theoretical part of the exam for drivers of these categories is practically the same, so the point in re-passing no test.

  • motorcycles;
  • tricycles;
  • quadricycles;
  • mopeds;
  • scooters.

Having studied the document, you can see that in paragraph 12, the mark "AS" or "MS" can be put. This suggests that the driver has the right to drive tricycles and quadricycles with an automobile or motorcycle type of landing or steering wheel. It is placed only in the document of category "A" or "B", and if both of these categories are present, such a mark is not put.

Responsibility for driving a motorcycle without a category

The absence of the required category in the document is equated to driving without a license, for which the inspector has the right to write out.

The entry into force of some amendments to the relevant legislation has led to a serious tightening of fines. Now the driver will have to administrative offense pay from 5000 to 15000 rubles.

The violator's vehicle may be taken to the penalty area. The services of a tow truck and the maintenance of equipment on the site are also paid by the driver. The result is a fairly tangible amount. The tightening of penalties significantly disciplined drivers. Practice shows that such violations have become much less.

Very often among minors and people who for some reason do not want to take an exam, the question arises, which motorcycles do not need a license? Previously, it was allowed to ride some types of two-wheeled vehicles without obtaining any certificate, which was used by tens of thousands of people in our country. However, after changing the categories of driving licenses, which were brought to the international standard, everything changed. In this article, you will find the answer to the question of whether it is still possible to drive without obtaining a license, and in which cases.

When exactly are documents needed?

Riding without a license on a motorcycle and any vehicle, regardless of its specifications considered as a serious violation. The law does not provide for exceptions, since even scooters and mopeds with an engine capacity of up to 50 cubic centimeters are now classified in the “M” category. To open it, you will have to undergo special training and pass two exams required for each driver, having received a certificate. If earlier inspectors turned a blind eye to drivers of small-capacity vehicles who did not have rights, now we have to forget about this. This is due to the emergence of training programs in driving schools for category “M” that meet all standards.

However, it is only a violation to drive on roads intended for common use. Therefore, to get the rights to motocross bike not at all necessary - if you bring it to the race track on truck and then pick up in the same way. Since racing tracks and forest clearings do not fall under the jurisdiction of the traffic police, even minors are allowed to ride a motorcycle on them. However, it is worth remembering that in case of an unpleasant incident that occurred off-road, all the blame will be placed on the owner of the motorcycle. If a complaint is made that a child rides a motorcycle without a helmet and appropriate equipment, parents can be severely punished for negligence in ensuring his safety.

You don't need a license to drive racing track if the motorcycle will be delivered by a cargo vehicle. However, the administration of many motordromes, following the standards established in Europe, is already beginning to create restrictions for drivers who do not have valid rights of the corresponding category. Racing is permitted without a regular driver's license. However, instead of such a document, you will be asked to present a racing license, which is not an example more difficult to obtain. Therefore, it is also worth getting a license for high-speed races on the weekend - there is no guarantee that the next time you will be given permission to go to the track.

There is one loophole in the law that allows driving a motorcycle without proper documents. This requires that the roads do not have the status of public use. Riding a motorcycle without a license is allowed by:

  • Technological paths of enterprises;
  • Special training grounds;
  • Self paved by people dirt roads;
  • closed private areas.

It is clear that it is simply impossible to meet a traffic police inspector here, so you don’t have to worry about fines and other penalties.

Punishment

The law does not make concessions for lovers of two-wheeled vehicles - therefore, the fine for without a license is equal to what car drivers pay. The inspector has the right to issue you a receipt in the amount of 5-15 thousand rubles, and he will send the vehicle to the penalty area. To the specified fine will have to add the cost of the services of a tow truck and impound. If the bike is dear to you, you need to pick it up as soon as possible, because every day the amount of your expenses will increase.

For those who simply forgot their rights at home and have a lot of free time, it is better to call relatives and ask them to bring the document to Right place. Having seen the document, the inspector must let you go, having previously read a lecture on respect for documents and standards, established by the Rules. If the driver, in addition to the rights, has forgotten the registration certificate, then he may be fined 500 rubles. You will have to pay the same amount if you do not have insurance, and the traffic police officer does not have the right to detain you or take the motorcycle to the impound.

After deprivation of rights for a serious offense, you should not tempt fate, risking being caught by a traffic police patrol. The punishment will be very severe - you will have to pay 30 thousand rubles, and part with the motorcycle, which will be sent to the penalty area. And you will be very lucky if the matter is limited to this - if the judge finds aggravating circumstances in your behavior, you will be threatened with administrative arrest and even 100-200 hours of community service.

Worst of all is for people who get caught for "drinking", being disenfranchised for any past offense. The amount of the fine reaches 200-300 thousand rubles, and it will not be possible to return the certificate in the next 3 years. If the guilty driver cannot pay such a large amount, judges often change the punishment, imposing public or forced labor. Also, a person can be deprived of 50-70% of the main income that is not related to social benefits. For a second offense, the motorcycle rider faces a prison sentence of 2 years.

It should be understood that the punishment for "drunkenness" with the proper execution of the protocol by the traffic police officer cannot be avoided. Caught without a license, many motorcyclists refuse medical examinations or take alcohol in the presence of an inspector. These actions are equivalent to driving a motorcycle while intoxicated. They lead to a large fine and the departure of the motorcycle to the impound.

How to avoid responsibility?

Some "craftsmen" say that they ride motorcycles without a license and numbers for several years. It is not worth repeating their achievement, since any meeting with a traffic police patrol is fraught with serious consequences. For the lack of numbers, another 5,000 rubles will be added to the above fines. If the motorcycle has never been registered in the country and does not have documents proving ownership, such a vehicle can simply be confiscated. The amount of punishment will depend on how the court qualifies such a violation - for smuggling and theft, you can get a considerable prison term, but in the absence of a criminal offense, the driver will get off with a warning and a small fine.

On the Internet, you can often find recommendations on how to ride a motorcycle without a license. One of them indicates that to avoid police persecution, it is enough to remove. Indeed, traffic police officers do not have the right to pursue a motorcyclist who is deprived of the required equipment, since they are responsible for the damage he received in the event of an accident. However, this will only help if you have a couple of kilometers left to drive - otherwise, a traffic police post will be waiting for you on the highway, where you will be issued fines for not having a license, a helmet and license plates, as well as for failing to comply with the law enforcement order to stop. If the police film the distinguishing marks of a motorcycle or its driver on camera, you can wait for a court summons.

Some people say that underage motorcycling cannot be punished to the fullest extent of the law. However, after the identity of the underage driver is clarified, his parents will be required to appear in court - the fine will be 2,500-5,000 rubles. Is it worth saying that the motorcycle will go to the impound for a long time? If a child is seriously injured while driving a motorcycle, the court may consider a case for the deprivation of parental rights - this is worth remembering when handing a dangerous vehicle to children.

Of course, not all advice should be discarded immediately. It happens that the most law-abiding motorcyclist forgets the rights and is forced to get to the destination without them. Of course, we are talking about the way to work and back, but not about long-distance trips. In this case, you should carefully check all the equipment, install a camera on the helmet if you have one, and also drive at a speed of 50-60 km/h in the city. The likelihood that the traffic police will simply let such a motorcyclist through is very high.

Ownership

There is also the question of whether a motorcycle license is needed if its owner does not plan to travel on a public road. The answer has already been given above - of course, they are not needed. However, it is worth clarifying that without valid rights, a person can purchase vehicles, donate them, resell them, or perform other transactions related to them. But it will no longer be possible to register a motorcycle, use it as a bank collateral, or travel abroad with such a vehicle. Although, to perform most of these actions, it is enough to simply issue a power of attorney to a person who has the rights of the corresponding category.

It is forbidden to drive until you get a driver's license. Traveling on the road without a license is also fraught with the impossibility of obtaining rights. Data on the committed offense are entered into a single electronic database of the traffic police. Before passing the exam at MREO, all candidates are carefully checked for the absence of such incidents. If a person has repeatedly been held accountable for driving a motorcycle without a license, he may be denied a certificate until the removal of administrative and criminal penalties.

Caution above all else

Not having a license is irresponsible and dangerous for both the driver and the road users around him. This is especially true for situations where the owner of the vehicle has no idea about current Rules- in this case, he is a mortal threat to everyone else. Therefore, before going on the road, you should take care of obtaining a driver's license - the procedure takes only 1-4 months and does not require large expenses compared to purchasing a motorcycle. Of course, you can drive a motorcycle without documents off the road - on race tracks, off-road and on private property. However, it does not interfere with training so as not to fall into extremely dangerous situations threatening human life.
