If available on working surface scuffing disk, deep scratches and other defects that increase pad wear and reduce braking efficiency, as well as in case of increased lateral runout disc causing vibration when braking, replace the disc. In specialized workshops, such a disc can be machined and polished on both sides to the same depth, but after processing, the thickness of the disc must not be less than the minimum allowable.
Minimum allowable brake disc thickness brake mechanism front wheel- 24.4 mm. If the thickness of one of the discs is less than the specified value, replace both discs. When replacing brake discs be sure to replace brake pads new kit.
You will need: screwdriver cross blade, wrench for wheel nuts.
1. Remove the wheel from the side of the disc being replaced.

2. Remove the caliper assembly (see "Replacing the front wheel brake caliper assembly with shoe guide") without disconnecting brake hose, and secure with wire without twisting or pulling on the hose.

3. Turn out two screws of fastening of a disk to a nave...

4. ...and remove the disc.
5. Similarly remove a brake disk of the brake mechanism of other forward wheel.
6. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

Note
Before installing the disc, carefully clean the hub and disc mating surfaces of rust and scale, as even the smallest particle sandwiched between the mating surfaces will cause the disc to beat and vibrate when braking.

Helpful advice
If you are installing an old disc, file off the shoulders on the working surfaces of the disc, formed as a result of wear on the disc on both sides, with a file.

This photo instruction shows step by step process such repair procedure, How pad replacement, and brake disc replacement on Hyundai car Tucson (Hyundai Tucson).

Pads and discs should be changed for several reasons, such as pad or disc wear, degraded braking, or grinding. The following tools are required for the procedure:

  • hammer;
  • crosshead screwdriver;
  • keys for 14 and 17;
  • drill, if there is a need to drill stuck screws);
  • WD-40, just in case something is rusty and hard to cut;

Kit for replacing brake pads and discs.

Unscrew rim disk, remove the wheel. The following view will open.

We unscrew the two fixing bolts of the caliper with a 14 wrench.

After removing the caliper, proceed to remove the brake pads. pull it out to the side, after which they can be easily removed. IN this case the pads have a lot of wear and they are almost completely worn out.

After that, remove the caliper holder housing, for which we unscrew the two fixing screws with reverse side. Most likely you will have to use a hammer, after a few blows the bolts will give in and unscrew with some effort. You can use WD-40 first.

The next step is to unscrew the two screws in the drive. It is possible that after long-term operation they could boil. if all else fails, use a drill.

After we have finished with the screws, remove the disk. If it does not go the first time, use a hammer, lightly tapping it on the back of the disc.

Old and new brake discs for comparison.

Install the brake disc. To do this, we put studs on it and clamp it with the screws unscrewed earlier.

Hello. We will replace the front brake pads on a Hyundai Tussan car.

Pads are changed when the thickness of the pads is less 2 millimeters. Checking the condition of the pads should be done every 15 thousand kilometers.

On the Hyundai Tussan, wear indicators are installed on the front pads. With critical wear during braking, you will hear a creak.

Step by step replacement

1. Dismantle the wheel.

2. Turn off the bolt of the lower guide.

Unscrew and hold the guide pin from turning.

We need open-end wrenches for fourteen and seventeen.

3. Raise the caliper and dismantle the metal lining from the inner pad.

4. Remove the old inner and outer pads.

5. We dismantle the metal brackets for the guides for the pads. We clean the dirt under them with a brush.

6. We drown brake piston using plumbing pliers through the guide. You can also buy a special for this. tool.

7. Inspect guide pins. Lubricate them, and also replace the anthers if damaged.

8. Install the guide brackets of the pads.

9. Install the inner and outer block. We only buy original pads.

10. Install the metal lining on the inner block.

11. Close the caliper and tighten the guide bolt.

The pads are changed on the axle, you can not change the pads on only one wheel.

Tools: a syringe or rubber bulb, a flathead screwdriver, a set of wrenches, a set of heads.

Note. Internal brake shoes of brake mechanisms rear wheels are equipped with lining wear indicators that emit a characteristic creak when the car is braked, in contact with the brake discs when the linings reach the minimum allowable thickness.

Before replacing the brake pads of the brake mechanisms of the rear wheels, it is necessary to select working fluid from the main tank brake cylinder if its level reaches the "MAX" mark. To carry out this operation, it is most convenient to use a rubber pear or a large medical syringe. Make sure that the brake fluid sampling tool is clean, otherwise contamination may enter the master cylinder reservoir, which, in turn, can cause it wrong work or failure.

1. Remove the rear wheel.

2. Push the piston into the slave cylinder by pushing the caliper outward by inserting a large screwdriver between the outer brake shoe and caliper.

3. Unscrew and remove fixing bolt lower guide pin of the caliper while holding the pin from turning with a wrench.

4. Raise the brake caliper rear wheel up.

5. Remove the outer brake shoe from the shoe guide.

6. Remove the inner brake shoe from the shoe guide.

7. Remove the two fixing springs from the brake shoe guide.

Note. Each time you replace the brake pads, pay attention to the condition of the rubber boots protecting the caliper guide pin. Also make sure that the movement of the caliper relative to the brake shoe guide occurs without difficulty, otherwise, lubricate the caliper guide pins with grease (lubrication is described in points 8, 9 and 10).

8. Remove the caliper guide pin.

9. Remove the protective cover from the guide pin.

10. Apply grease on the caliper guide pin, and then lubricate the inside of the pin guard. Apply grease to the second guide pin and its protective boot in the same way. Install the caliper guide pins in reverse order. Replace protective covers if they are torn, hardened or deformed.

11. Before installing new rear wheel brake pads, lubricate them seats in the guide with a waterproof grease.

12. Install new brake pads in reverse order.

Note. Prevent spontaneous unscrewing of the bolt securing the caliper guide pin by applying to its threads anaerobic fixative threads.

13. Similarly replace brake shoes of the second back wheel.

14. Check and, if necessary, top up brake fluid into the brake master cylinder.
