Burning indicator light in the form of a red oil can on dashboard- this is a signal that the pressure in the lubrication system has dropped to a critical minimum. Under no circumstances should it be ignored, because without oil the engine of a VAZ 2110 or any other car will not last long.

The principle of operation of the warning lamp on the VAZ 2110

Warning lamp emergency pressure oil in VAZ 2110 cars is located in the left bottom corner instrument panels. It is easily identified by its characteristic icon in the shape of an oil can.

The light works in tandem with an emergency pressure sensor, which is installed in the cylinder head and connected to the oil line. These two elements are combined into the simplest electrical circuit similar to a test “control lamp”, where the sensor acts as a switch. The design of the sensor is also very simple. It consists of a housing with a fitting and a membrane with a contact connected to on-board network cars.

When the engine is turned off, there is no pressure in the lubrication system and the membrane is in free position. The contact is closed to sensor ground. When we turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine, everything remains the same, only power is supplied to the contact. Since the circuit is closed, our control lamp is on. As soon as we start the engine, the pressure in the system begins to rise and act on the sensor membrane, moving it away. The contacts open and the lamp goes out. But this only happens when everything is working properly.

Why does the emergency pressure indicator light come on?

If you notice that the lamp is constantly on or turns on periodically during operation power unit, hurry up to diagnose and find possible malfunction. It is better not to continue driving until it is eliminated. The reasons for the constant or periodic burning of the control lamp may be:

  • insufficient level of lubrication in the engine, as well as low-quality oil (used up its service life or not corresponding to the viscosity class);
  • break or short circuit in the emergency pressure sensor circuit;
  • sensor malfunction;
  • oil filter clogged;
  • clogging of the oil receiver strainer;
  • malfunction oil pump or its pressure reducing valve;
  • failure of liners crankshaft.

Let's look at each of these problems in more detail.

Oil level and quality

The first thing you should do when the warning light comes on is check the lubricant level in the engine. To do this, we will use a special probe, which is provided in both eight-valve and sixteen-valve “ten” power units. Measurements should be made with the engine cooled down. If their result shows that the oil level is below the minimum, add it and check the operation of the sensor with the lamp.

Pay attention to the consistency of the oil as well. How bigger car has passed since its replacement, the thinner it is, and an oil pump designed for a certain viscosity will naturally be unable to create required pressure. IN similar cases The lamp usually comes on when the engine reaches operating temperature.

Similar symptoms can be observed when using oils whose viscosity class is lower than that specified by the engine manufacturer. If you are not sure about the quality of the lubricant, it is better to replace it.

A few words about the location of the sensor

Before we begin describing the sensor verification algorithm, let's figure out where it is located. In eight-valve VAZ 2110 engines, the sensor is located on the rear side of the engine in the upper right part of the cylinder head (as viewed from inside the car). You won’t confuse it with anything, since there are no other devices there.

In sixteen-valve "ten" power units, the sensor is located on the left side of the engine near filler neck. The power cord going to the device will help you find your way faster.

Checking the emergency pressure sensor circuit

If the warning lamp turns on periodically, you should check the sensor's power cable. It often happens that its break or short to ground causes the oil can to flicker, especially while driving. The verification procedure is as follows:

Will help solve the short circuit problem visual inspection wires and restoration of its damaged area.

Sensor check

Engines of 2110 vehicles, regardless of their modification, are equipped with emergency pressure sensors type MM 120, manufactured under catalog number 6022.3829.

Characteristics of the MM 120 sensor:

  • rated voltage - 12 V;
  • weight - 28 g;
  • thread - M14x1.5;
  • response pressure - 0.4±0.2 kgf/cm2;
  • analogues - MM 120D, MM 120DM.

Emergency oil pressure sensors on “tens”, as in principle on other VAZs, are very capricious devices and fail very often. Testing them at home is easy.

Tools and tools for checking:

  • tire compressor or pump with pressure gauge;
  • a piece of hose with an internal diameter of 10–12 mm and a length of 20–30 cm;
  • 2 clamps;
  • crosshead screwdriver;
  • key for 21 or 22;
  • car tester or control lamp with battery;
  • dry rag.

The procedure for checking the sensor is as follows:

You can, of course, not waste your time checking, but simply buy and install new sensor. Moreover, it costs about 70 rubles.

Oil filter

A clogged and worn oil filter invariably leads to a decrease in oil pressure in the system. In a serviceable, correctly selected and installed filter, a certain amount of lubricant always remains after the engine is stopped. This is provided for by the design of the device. If the filter is worn out, or does not correspond to the engine modification, oil will flow from it into the crankcase, causing a “starvation” effect in the engine.

When the filter element becomes clogged, its throughput. In this case, the pump operates in normal mode, however, the amount of oil entering the system is reduced. Naturally, this leads to a drop in pressure. If you are unsure of compliance installed filter engine parameters, or the car with it has traveled more than 7 thousand km - replace it. A new filter unit for a VAZ 2110 will cost you about 200 rubles.

Important: it is advisable to replace the filter simultaneously with changing the lubricant. When installing a new filter, be sure to fill the filter housing fresh oil. This will prevent the appearance air jams in the system and will protect the engine from oil starvation.

Pressure check

Further search possible reasons, according to which the control lamp lights up, requires partial or complete disassembly engine. To make sure that the problem is really deep, you need to measure the oil pressure in the system. You can do this yourself if you have a special pressure gauge. And if not, you can buy it. It costs about 300 rubles. In addition to the pressure gauge, you will also need a 21 or 22 wrench and a dry rag.

Procedure:

Oil receiver mesh

The oil receiver is designed to collect oil from the oil pan and supply it to the pump. To prevent wear products from entering the system along with the lubricant, the device is equipped with a mesh filter. Clogging of this filter prevents the oil from entering in full.

In order to get to the oil receiver mesh, you will have to drain the oil and remove the oil pan. The device is attached to the crankcase and oil pump with three bolts. By unscrewing them, the oil receiver can be dismantled. It is not possible to disassemble the filter, since it has a one-piece design, but you can still clean it. For these purposes, white spirit, solvent, and various household products for cleaning sewer pipes are used.

Oil pump

The oil pump is the main element of the system. It is he who creates pressure in it, pumping lubricant into the line. The main malfunctions of this unit include wear of its parts, as well as “sticking” of the pressure relief valve, which happens much more often. The exact reason why the pump cannot cope with its duties can only be determined by removing it and disassembling it. Removing the oil pump involves removing the oil pan, the right wheel of the car and the crankshaft pulley.

In most cases, the problem is solved by replacing the device. Buying a new oil pump will cost about 1000 rubles.

Crankshaft bearings

The pressure in the system may also drop due to severe wear of the main or connecting rod bearings crankshaft. This phenomenon occurs on engines that have traveled more than 200 thousand km without major overhaul. Such a malfunction can only be detected after disassembling the engine.

Video: causes and consequences of pressure drop in the lubrication system

Diagnostics of the lubrication system is a rather complex and time-consuming process. But you can’t do without it, especially since the car itself gives you a distress signal. It’s better to waste a day looking for a minor malfunction and try to fix it, rather than having to carry out major renovation engine.

Welcome, friends, to the DIY auto repair website. When you turn the ignition key, the dashboard lights up whole line signal lamps. They signal that the system is working properly and the engine is ready to start.

One of these indicators has an image of a battery. When you turn on the ignition, it starts to light up, and after starting the engine, it goes out.

This indicates that the battery is charging. But what if this does not happen? Why does the battery charging light stay on even after starting?

A little theory: scheme of work

To solve the existing problem, you must understand the essence of the generator interaction vehicle and power source (battery).

While driving, the battery is in constant charging mode with a voltage of 13.6-14.2 Volts. As engine speed increases, the voltage at the generator output increases. But this is unacceptable.

To limit the voltage, a small relay regulator is inserted into the rotor excitation circuit. Its task is to reduce the current to normal level(even with a significant increase in speed).

The result is maintaining the battery charge voltage at a stable level. If the battery light is on, this indicates a lack of charging from the generator.

How does the scheme work? After turning on the ignition, voltage through fuse No. 10 (for VAZ-2107) is supplied to control lamp battery charge.

Next, the “+12V” voltage passes through a diode, a built-in relay-regulator (we mentioned it above), a brush, a slip ring and a winding.

As soon as the rotor speed increases, the phase voltage also increases. As a result, the voltage at the terminals of the battery warning light is equalized and it goes out. At the same time, the battery is charging.

Reasons why the battery charging light is on

In fact, there are many reasons why the battery light comes on and does not go out. These include:

  • Loosening of the belt tension on the generator, its wear or damage;
  • fuse blown or deterioration of contact quality in the connectors of the mounting block;
  • failure of the relay regulator, diode bridge, additional diodes;
  • the appearance of a break in the generator excitation circuit;
  • decreased quality of contact at the battery terminals or generator output;
  • wear generator brushes ;
  • lack of high-quality contact of the ground wire.

What to do if the battery charging light is on?

First of all, get out of the car and, with the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery terminals (do not remove the clamps under any circumstances).

If charging in progress, then the voltage should be at 13.6-14.2 Volts. In the absence of charge, the voltage level will be much lower - about 12 Volts.

To fix the problem, prepare the following tools:

  • twelve volt indicator light,
  • two screwdrivers (flat and Phillips),
  • multimeter,
  • pliers,
  • knife,
  • Use sandpaper to clean contacts.

So let's get started:

1. Indications onboard voltmeter indicate the presence of a charge, warning light charge on dashboard does not light up, there are about 12 volts at the battery terminals, and the battery itself is almost discharged.

In such a situation, clean the wire connections on the power source itself. If these measures are useless, measure the voltage level at terminal “30” of the generator itself.

Place one multimeter probe on this terminal, and the other on ground. If the voltage here is much higher than at the battery, then strip the thirtieth terminal. If necessary, replace the wire from the generator to the battery.

2. The voltmeter on the dashboard and the lamp show the presence of a charge, but the battery is discharged.

The voltage on the battery is normal (about 14 Volts). Turning on a load (for example, headlights) causes the charge arrow to shift to the extreme left position.

The main reason is weak belt tension on the generator pulley (tighten the belt, and if it is damaged, replace it).

This problem can also be caused by a breakdown of one of the diodes, as well as a break in the stator phase winding. Turn off the ignition and check the diodes with a multimeter. In case of breakdown, replace them.

Check the generator brushes. To do this, take them out and measure the length. If it is less than five millimeters, then it is better to replace the brushes.

3. When you turn the key in the ignition, the charge warning lamp does not light up, the charge sensor does not work, and there is no charge on the battery. The reason is a blown fuse.

Its designation is F10, rating is 10 Amperes. If installing a new fuse does not produce results, then the reason must be sought in the ignition relay or the lock itself.

4. After turning on the ignition, there is no charge, all devices work, the control warning lamp does not light up.

The check is simple - remove the wiring from terminal “sixty-one” of the generator and connect it directly to the “minus” (car body). If the light comes on, then the cause of the problem is the generator field winding.

The second option is bad contact in the connector. If after cleaning there is no result, then there is a risk of the lamp itself burning out.

5. When you turn the key in the ignition switch, the charge lamp lights up, and after starting it continues to light up. In this case, there is no charging or appears periodically. The reason is insufficient contact of the wire at the connector with the dashboard (it may oxidize).

Finally, check the relay regulator. To do this, apply voltage from the battery to its contacts. If there is 12 volts on the brushes, then the relay is working properly. If not, the device must be replaced.

If you have problems charging the battery (the warning light does not go out or does not light up at all), then check all versions.

But, as a rule, the problem is always on the surface, and the cause is poor contact, a burnt out light bulb or a faulty relay regulator. Good luck on the roads and of course no breakdowns.

One of the parameters of engine operation is oil pressure. To ensure uninterrupted and high-quality functionality of the power unit, each driver must constantly monitor the maintenance of the required oil level in the engine. If the oil pressure light comes on on the dashboard of a VAZ 2114/2115, you must immediately take some action. The indicator will light up in cases where there are certain problems with the oil pressure in the engine unit system.

Why does the oil pressure light come on in the VAZ 2114/2115

There are several likely reasons why this car light suddenly comes on. And only based on precise definition reasons can be taken necessary actions for troubleshooting.

The indicator may light up in two cases:

    at engine idle speed;

    when the car is moving.

Each of these cases has its own causes of malfunctions.

The light came on at idle

The oil pressure light may light up (or blink) at idle speed, and if you press the gas pedal, the icon will immediately go out. In this case, the most likely causes of malfunctions are the following:

    the crankshaft liners are worn out: the oil pressure will drop due to the fact that the gap between the thinned liner and the car’s connecting rod has increased;

    the oil receiver mesh is severely clogged: one of the most common reasons why a light bulb suddenly lights up. Various types of sediment are gradually deposited on the surface of the engine sump. At the moment when there are too many deposits, the pump can no longer supply enough oil to operate the engine;

    wear or any problems in the oil pump: another probable reason why the indicator may light up on a VAZ 2114/2115. Due to a breakdown of the pump itself or any part of it, oil does not enter the engine in the required quantity;

    the sensor is faulty: it is quite possible that the oil level and the engine itself fully meet their basic characteristics, and the problem lies in the sensor;

    wiring is shorted: problems with electronic system car can also cause incorrect operation of the engine oil supply system.

The oil can indicator light came on while driving.

In cases where the oil pressure light suddenly comes on while the car is moving, it is advisable to stop immediately. Probably, the following failure or breakdown occurred:

    The oil level in the engine unit is lower Min marks;

    the oil filter could be clogged - this leads to the fact that the pressure invariably decreases;

    it's time to change the oil - in cases where the car owner does not replace the substance in the engine for a long time, it loses its working properties.

What to do when the oil pressure light is on in a VAZ 2114/2115 car

Depending on the cause of the malfunction, the driver’s actions will differ when this indicator lights up.

In the event that the oil pressure light in a VAZ 2114/2115 lights up when the engine is fully warmed up and the car is stopped ( idle speed), the following steps will be required:

    If the cause of the malfunction is wear of the crankshaft liner, serious car repairs will be required. Depending on the general condition machines may be needed either complete replacement crankshaft, or large-scale repair of the shaft and replacement of liners with new ones. It is advisable to contact a car repair shop.

    In the event that the oil pressure has dropped due to debris and deposits in the receiver grid, each driver can independently eliminate the cause of such a malfunction. It is necessary to clean the mesh and also remove accumulated debris and adhered dirt from the tray. Also recommended for next replacement oils, flush the engine with special flushing oils.

    A faulty oil pump can only be removed in one way - by replacing the pump itself. If the car owner does not understand design features VAZ 2114/2115, then it is also better to seek help from specialists.

    If the oil pressure sensor is faulty, it is also recommended to replace it. It should be noted that recently, more and more often, owners domestic cars diagnose problems with pressure sensors. This is explained by the fact that auto shops and car markets often sell spare parts of dubious quality.

    It is better to entrust the search for a short circuit in the wiring to an auto electrician.

Video: the oil pressure light came on at idle, what to do

However, what should be done if the oil pressure light comes on while driving? The first step is to stop on the side of the road or at any convenient location, where the car will not become a hindrance to other road users:

    After stopping, it is advisable to check the oil level in the engine unit. It is quite possible that its level is below the Min mark, which is why the indicator in the cabin came on. Needs topping up working fluid and continue moving. If the light comes on due to lack of oil, then the problem is considered solved.

    The light may come on immediately after replacing the oil with a new one. This is a completely normal situation. You must wait 20 seconds - the indicator should go out.

    If the indicator does not go out, the cause of the malfunction lies in poor quality oil filter. We'll have to replace it.

Video: the oil pressure light came on while driving, what to do

All other cases (failure of the oil pressure sensor, short circuit, wear of parts) require a specialist. It is necessary to deliver the car to a service station.

In the event of a more serious breakdown, without special tool and equipment is indispensable. If you checked the oil level, you are sure that it is set quality filter, and the pump is in fully operational condition, it is almost impossible to independently identify other causes of malfunctions. Therefore, it will be necessary to transport the car by tow truck or tug to a service station in order to identify breakdowns of crankshaft parts and carry out professional repair work.

Constantly monitoring the condition of your vehicle is the task of every driver. This task is especially relevant for owners of domestic cars. Moreover, maintaining the oil level at required level- This is the main way to care for the engine unit and maintain the performance of the entire machine.

The instrument cluster on the VAZ 2114 is located on the left side of the dashboard, which motorists often call a “torpedo”. The dashboard also contains various switches and indicator lights, which are necessary to control lighting equipment, heater and other important units.

Located on the left side of the dashboard, directly in front driver's seat, the instrument cluster of the VAZ 2114 plays important role in driving a car. On it are located pointer instruments, VAZ 2114 indicators with electronic digital windows and signal lights for various purposes.

  • An induction speedometer, which receives speed readings from a sensor located directly in the gearbox, shows real speed car from zero to two hundred kilometers per hour. The division price is 10 km/h. It must be borne in mind that such devices have a permissible error of at least 5 km/h. In the lower, central part of the device there is a window with an electronic display, in which two lines reflect the total mileage for the entire period of operation of the car and the current mileage.
  • To the left of the speedometer is the tachometer. This electronic device, which, receiving a signal from on-board computer, shows the current crankshaft speed at this particular moment. The scale has divisions of 5 units, digitization is done after 10 units, the maximum value is 80. When multiplied by 100, the real number of revolutions is obtained, for example, 30 multiplied by 100, the result is 3000 rpm. The range of 55 - 60 is shaded in red - this signals that the critical speed is approaching. The critical range of 60 - 80 is shaded in red. If the speed increases to these values, the engine may fail. In the lower middle part of the device, an electronic display displays the time and real ambient temperature.
  • To the left of the tachometer is arrow pointer coolant temperature. It receives a signal about the actual condition from the coolant temperature sensor, which is located between the cylinder head and the thermostat. The division value is 20 degrees. Digitization of the device begins at 50, after two divisions it is 90 and the divisions end at 130 degrees. The red, danger zone starts at 105 degrees. If the arrow falls into this zone, then the engine must be turned off immediately, no matter what mode it is operating in. Due to overheating of the engine, failure of the main blocks of the power unit is possible. At the top, near the number 130, there is a graphic temperature icon. To the right of the speedometer is a device indicating the presence and level of fuel in cars.

fuel tank

  1. The numbers on the scale indicate:
  2. 0 is an empty tank.
  3. ½ - half a tank.

1 is a full tank. The graphic symbol of a gas station at the top of the device indicates a fully filled tank. Bottom right lights up orange

a signaling device in the form of a gas pump, indicating that the remainder in the tank is less than six liters.

Designation of light bulbs and indicators on the instrument panel of the VAZ 2114 The instrument panel, by definition, is designed to contain instruments, indicators and switches that could inform the driver about current state different systems car, signal during operation of the machine or about failures of any units, as well as using buttons and switches to control individual equipment or mechanisms.

The designation of icons on the instrument panel of the VAZ 2114 is made in accordance with all requirements and standards that call for the unification of symbols so that they are absolutely clear to every driver. Designations on the instrument panel of VAZ 2114 s injection engine latest issues located mainly in the lower part of the instrument cluster:

1 - icon of a light indicating that the oil level in the engine crankcase has dropped below minimum level, lights up red;

Key switch block. The first 1 - turns on the front fog lights, the second 2 - the rear ones fog lights and the third 3 turns on the heated rear window.

I am glad to welcome everyone to the site dedicated to cars domestic production, . Today in the "" section we will talk about problems associated with the battery. You will learn about why the battery light is on, the reasons why this happens, and how to solve this problem.

Anyone who has at least some idea of this and has minimal observation skills has probably noticed that after the key in the ignition is turned, various indicators in the form of pictograms and inscriptions light up on the instrument panel (battery light, " " indicator, oil pressure lamp, handbrake, etc...). You may also have noticed that after you turn the key again and the engine starts, almost all of these lights go out until the next time the engine is started or until the “brains” detect a breakdown.

If, after starting the engine, any of the above indicators continues to light up or lights up while the engine is running, this is a sign that something is wrong with this unit. In our case, if the battery light is on on the panel, it is necessary to take measures to identify problems, including complete elimination malfunctions.

Burning light bulb battery may indicate problems with battery voltage or a complete lack thereof.

So, the reasons why the battery light is on

The first thing to understand is that the cause is not necessarily related to a malfunction of the generator or its poor performance; in fact, the cause may turn out to be quite trivial and easily fixable. However, sadder scenarios should not be ruled out...

  1. Fuse . In case of F16 or poor contact (oxidation, burnout, etc.). This fuse is also connected to other indicators on the instrument panel, so if there is a problem with this fuse, other lights will also light up.
  1. Break of "zero" . A break in the “neutral” wire circuit will lead to power interruptions in the instrument cluster.
  1. Battery terminals . Check the condition of the terminals, the quality of the contact, and whether there is oxidation on the terminals. Because of such “little things,” it is quite possible that there will be problems with charging the battery and, as a result, the appearance of a corresponding indicator on the panel.
  1. Egnition lock . A malfunction of the ignition switch, or rather wear and tear of the ignition switch, often causes the battery light to remain on continuously. However, in in this case The battery indicator will also light up more than once.
  1. Weight . Poor contact Ground wires may cause the battery light on the panel to light up. Check the condition of the contact, and if problems are found, fix them.

Alternator malfunctions that may cause the battery light to come on on the dash

  1. Low tension on the alternator belt , slippage or critical wear of the alternator belt. , if necessary, replace the alternator belt and check the urgency of the problem.
  1. Generator brush wear limit . , as well as brush holders, then make sure that the problem has gone away. Also .
  1. Bearing . A malfunction of the generator bearing leads to an increase in the rotational resistance of the generator rotor, which results in “undercharging” or complete jamming of the bearing. The solution is to replace the generator bearing.
  1. Oxidation of contacts . In case of oxidation slip rings The battery will charge intermittently, and eventually the panel will light up battery light. The slip rings are washed using flushing fluid or WD-40.
  1. Voltage regulator . If it is damaged, it must be replaced.

As you can see, there are quite a few reasons, and even banal oxidation of contacts can lead to this problem. However, you should not be too careless, as soon as you see that the battery light is on, immediately take measures to eliminate this problem. Otherwise, you risk being left alone with your problem somewhere in the middle of the night forest...
