Note 1: early GAZ-31105 2004 may be available. for Type 1, with RK GAZ-3110.
Note 2: for Type 2 cars, GAZ-311052 and GAZ-311053 are indicated, which were not in nature. Therefore, special equipment for them has been removed from the list.
Note 3: fuse 13 of the left block of machines Type 1 and 2 is erroneously listed as "headlight washer relay", in fact the washer. Corrected.
Note 4: GAZ-310221 and GAZ-310231 were added to the list of Type 3 vehicles, since they were produced in 2007 (i.e. they were "Euro 2").
Note 5: fuses 11 and 13 of the upper block in Type 6 are specified for the "KMSUD block". According to the wiring diagrams - only the 13th.

One fine day, the electrical wiring finally began to live its own life. The reason for this was the fuse blocks type PR121. Blocks of this type have a lot of drawbacks, in particular, they constantly weaken the contact of the circuit with the fuse (which leads to burning of the body of the unit itself and the main wiring) and it is inconvenient to replace a blown fuse with a new one, etc.

The upper fuse box has already been replaced due to constant burning.

This time the lower unit failed. The photo below shows: sagging and almost falling out fuses (especially the second green one), burnt contacts.

I'm already tired of changing the awl for soap. at times, the upper block has already begun to act up. Here it was decided to replace all this disgrace with fuse blocks of a new sample 41.3722 from GAZ-3110.

Differences between blocks of old and new types. The number of fuses in the old block is 10 pieces in the new 14. The new block does not have internal jumpers (see diagram below). The distance between the holes intended for mounting in a new type of block is less by 4 mm.

Preparation for work.

In the diagram below, jumpers that are missing in the new blocks are highlighted in red.

These jumpers can be replaced with external ones, made from a piece of wire and automobile terminals of the MAMA type. The number and configuration of jumpers in the photo below.

You also need to make a metal bar for mounting new fuse blocks.

Now the subtleties of the replacement procedure itself. You need to start with the lower fuse box, but you need to unscrew both at once. ALL OPERATIONS TO BE PERFORMED WHEN THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED!!! The wires are switched following scheme: disconnect ONE wire from the old block - install in a new block (after insulating, see below).

Isolation of terminals is carried out using a thermotube, I do not recommend using electrical tape.

And this is what should happen:

Now you need to solve the issue with different distances between the mounting holes. On one side, make a cut as in the photo below and screw the untouched side of the blocks to a regular place.

Then screw the second side of the fuse blocks through the previously made plate.

The final work should be: selection of fuses of the required (or at least approximate) ratings in accordance with the operating instructions, and full check performance of electrical wiring.

The main functional purpose of the Gazelle fuse box, as in other cars, is protection against short circuit or voltage increase in onboard network. Its task is to timely open the circuit during overloads, and thereby avoid the failure of the electrical appliance it protects.

It looks like a gazelle fuse box

Fuses for electrical equipment Gazelle

  1. The first level of protection is provided by power fuses located in a separate mounting block under the hood of the car. Their operation is designed for a significant change in the current strength in the circuit, and the main purpose is protection against short circuits.
    In this case, two main circuits of the electrical circuit are separated, including:
    • main positive circuit, excluding lighting fixtures, And ;
    • positive circuit of the generator and light circuit.

    In modifications equipped with anti-lock braking system, two additional electrical fuses are installed that are directly responsible for this function.

    Electrical fuses in the electrical network

    This module uses fuses with a rated operating current of 40, 60 and 90A, while depending on the Gazelle model, different circuits are protected by a fuse of their rated current. For used, as a rule, fuses 25A.
  2. The main fuses and relays in most modifications are divided into two mounting blocks, which are located in engine compartment. Wherein:

Relay designations mounting block gazelles

It should be noted that in cars manufactured after 2003, new-style mounting modules are used, with a more modern fuse structure, in which the fusible thread is soldered into a plastic case. At the same time, the electrical circuit diagram for the blocks of the old and new models is different, therefore, replacement with a modern module is possible only with additional refinement.

This is what it looks like old block fuses on the Gazelle

The distribution of electrical fuses for different purposes and different operating currents for individual modules provides not only maximum protection for electrical equipment, but also convenient operation of the vehicle as a whole.

Fundamental differences in the arrangement of the fuse box depending on the Gazelle model

This is what the new fuse block looks like

Design differences of the modification of the Gazelle class, based on various systems protection of electrical equipment can be divided into the following main groups and highlight their features. Watch the video on how to install a new fuse box.

Vehicles with a carburetor-type gasoline engine

Cars with a gasoline injection type engine

Diesel vehicles

  1. A main fuse module, similar to the one with additional 5A fuses for the engine management system, was installed.
  2. changed engine block, including protected circuits:
    • air heating system with protection 125A;

      Schematic arrangement of the air heating system in the gazelle

    • engine control network - 30A;
    • lighting fixtures and air conditioning, if installed - 30A;
    • common positive circuit, as well as engine heating - 60A;
    • additional fuses for 25 and 40A for vehicles with pre-installed ABS.

      Scheme with the dimensions of the car fuse

Diversity, both in pre-installed engine and in additional equipment, the multiplicity of their combinations leads, in turn, to differences in the electrical protection system and the design of the mounting block.

Thus, the Gazelle fuse box is an indispensable element of the protective mechanism of the vehicle's electrical equipment and is implemented taking into account design features specific vehicle modification.

Two-level construction of the safety circuit provides a reliable barrier on-board instruments, both from a short circuit of the machine's network, and from voltage surges, thereby ensuring their trouble-free operation.

The vehicle's on-board circuit (except for the starter circuit) is powered by two fuses.

The lighting circuit is protected by a 40 A fuse, the remaining circuits are 60 A. Both fuses are installed in a block mounted on a partition in the engine compartment.

In addition, each circuit of all electricity consumers is additionally protected by fuses with a lower operating current.

They are located in two blocks under the instrument panel on the driver's side. The rated current of the fuses and the circuits protected by them are indicated in the table.

The fuses are numbered from left to right, 8 A - black; 16 A - green.

The starter circuit is designed for short-term high current and has no fuse.

When repairing the electrical system, disconnect the battery. Do not use fuses with an increased "value" or homemade ones - this can lead to failure of the electrical consumer, and possibly a fire.

Replacing the central fuses of the vehicle's on-board network

Fingers, squeezing the latches on both sides, remove the block cover.

With a “10” wrench, we unscrew the two nuts and, having removed the wires from the studs, we replace faulty fuse to a similar one (for 40 A or 60 A)

Spare fuses are stored under the cover plate

The lid is held on by two latches.

Replacing fuses in electrical circuits

Remove the block cover.

The fuses are installed between the spring terminals.

The 8 A fuses have a black insulator, the 16 A fuses have a green insulator.

They are listed in numerical order from left to right.

For cars from 2003 release. Press the lid latch

Remove the fuse cover

Having pressed the lower or upper terminal, we take out the faulty fuse and install a new one.

7.4. Most electrical circuits are protected by fuses located in two blocks on the instrument panel. The fuse numbers are on the block cases. Fuse numbers, devices of the circuits they protect, as well as the current strength are given in Table. 7.1.

Table 7.1.

Circuits protected by fuses

7.5. To access the fuses, move the decorative trim with the inscription: "Volga" located on the cover of the fuse boxes to the right. Insert your finger into the hole and pull the fuse block cover towards you to remove it. If the cover is difficult to remove, you can pry it off with a screwdriver. To remove the fuses from the block, it is recommended to use the tweezers supplied with the spare fuse kit. The fuse cases are colored according to the current strength (see Table 7.2).

Table 7.2.

7.6. To remove the fuse blocks, you must unscrew the two screws securing both blocks. Pull the fuse boxes out of the panel towards you so that the fuse blocks come out of the panel.

Mark the connectors, disconnect and push them back into the hole in the instrument panel.

7.7. On the left mudguard under the hood is installed additional block of two fuses: 30 A fuse protects the engine cooling fan circuit; a 60A fuse protects all circuits except the starter circuit. To replace the fuses, remove the cover of the block and, having unscrewed the two screws securing the fuse, replace it.
