Retro trolleybuses on the Frunzenskaya embankment. Horned in the city

01.06.2019

For just a few days, transport workers from the city on the Neva brought to Moscow the only surviving copy of the YaTB-1 trolleybus, which was produced in 1936-1937. Its rusty frame was accidentally found in a summer cottage in the Leningrad Region and was restored for five years by the restorers of the Gorelektrotrans Museum of Urban Transport. The Moscow Trolleybus Festival was held on October 24 and was dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the opening of the trolleybus service in the capital. The first route went through Leningrad highway from Belorussky railway station to Okruzhnaya railway and was seven kilometers. The LK-1 trolleybuses (“Lazar Kaganovich”) then entered the line, remaining only in old photographs. Trolleybus LK. 1934-1935:

Since 1936, the first-born began to be replaced by more advanced machines - YATB-1, mass-produced at Yaroslavl car factory. British trolleybuses served as their prototype, two copies of which were delivered in 1935 from Great Britain. The city authorities demanded more trolleybuses for the city and the factory workers mastered production in a short time. YATB-1 is a two-axle trolleybus, in which the rear wheels are driving, and the front wheels are used to set and change the direction of movement. The wheels, tires, wheel hubs, front axle, steering gear and a number of other parts and assemblies were borrowed from the serial Yaroslavl YAG-4 truck. The trolleybus had a wooden body with metal lining, with two narrow doorways. The folding wooden doors were opened automatically rather than manually by the passengers. Soft spring sofas were installed in the cabin, but the capacity of the trolleybus was small, and situations were created at stops, as in the old photo below. By the way, in Soviet time for the entrance of passengers to the trolley bus and the bus was intended backdoor, and the front one is for the exit.
“A new trolleybus car, produced by the Yaroslavl Automobile Plant, has arrived in Moscow, which has significant advantages in comparison with the cars currently running in Moscow. It has a beautiful coloration. There are 34 comfortable soft seats in the car. For heating in winter, 6 electric stoves were installed. The doors open and close automatically, like in subway cars. Interior decoration wagon is very elegant. In case of interruption on the current line electric lighting two bright lamps are lit in the car, receiving current from batteries. A comfortable seat has been provided for the driver. The ride of the new car is silent and flexible. This is facilitated by semi-cylinders on wheels and a worm gear instead of the usual one, ”the Pravda newspaper wrote then. The copy restored by St. Petersburg residents is painted in historical colors - blue, yellow and green.

In total, 450 copies of YATB-1 were produced, which were operated in different cities of the USSR. During the war years, trolleybuses were used to transport goods, sometimes replacing the body with an onboard platform. The wooden parts of the body were short-lived and in 1948 all-metal MTBs forced out their predecessor from Moscow streets. Appearance unique machine aroused great interest among the townspeople, who staged a real pandemonium on Frunzenskaya Embankment.
YaTB-1 headed the column of retro trolleybuses that drove from Filevsky Park to Frunzenskaya Embankment. MTB-82D 1954, SVARZ TBES-VSHV (1957), SVARZ-MTBES (1963), ZiU-5 (1961), ZiU-9 (1980) and modern machines. Perhaps the most rare exhibit is TBES-VSHV, intended for the main exhibition of the country. Sightseeing trolleybus route passed along the alleys of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition, along which from 8 to 12 cars simultaneously ran. However, by the mid-1960s, the RAF road trains were forced out of the territory of the “horned” exhibition, and the freed trolleybuses with the symbols of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (VDNKh) entered the city routes.
VDNH. 1959:

Another exhibit that attracted the attention of visitors to the Moscow Trolleybus Festival is a trolleycar adapted for the inspection vehicle of contact networks. Curiously, the first domestic car, driven by electric energy, was planned not as a passenger, but as a cargo one. It was in 1902, and in Soviet times, experiments began on the creation of trolley cars equipped with an electric motor and an engine. internal combustion. Such economical vans could move along permanent routes and deliver goods from the base to large stores. In old photographs, they can be seen on various streets of Moscow. Trolleyvoz. 1966:

Here, to be honest: I initially did not want to go to Frunzenskaya Embankment, where the event in honor of the Moscow trolleybus was to be held. It wasn’t even in my thoughts: it was quite enough for me to understand that there was nothing to catch in this human anthill. And yet, for a long time I wanted to make shots from the button accordion place - from the Borodino bridge across the Moscow River, from where a view of Bolshaya Dorogomilovskaya Street and Moscow City opens:

I went there. Came with a spare. But ... I mixed up the time of departure of the trolleybus column from Filevsky Park. And I decided that when the time was over half past ten, and nothing had gone, that the column did not go along Bolshaya Dorogomilovskaya, but directly, along Kutuzovsky - Novy Arbat. And I was also embarrassed by two respectable comrades who obviously also stood with cameras and waited for the passage of the column. When at half past ten they abruptly blew themselves up and rushed to the subway, I became convinced that Something went wrong.

Well, okay, then a fallback option - let's go to the Frunzenskaya embankment. No-no-no, not to the site, but to where the column will go. But I decided to go there, just through the platform ... it was a mistake :) Everything was already fenced there, furnished with metal detectors and cops. Moreover, the latter, apparently, had a firm attitude “not to let them in” - they, for example, wrapped up all cyclists, and pedestrians were smacked with all the proletarian hatred. Forcing them to demonstrate all the equipment on hand in the switched on state, and probing with a hand-held metal detector from head to toe. And on my belt in a case, as usual, there was a piercing-cutting weapon - the usual Swiss Victorinox - but ... It is clear that it is useless to prove something to people during performance - and I didn’t really strive - I just wanted to go through fenced area further along the embankment. Yes, and figs would be with him, there was enough time to get around all this along Komsomolsky Prospekt. Which I did, and went on, dodging local cyclists, rollerbladers and joggers. So it was necessary to join the Moscow bike rental, and take a bike, especially since it is not at all expensive - a steward per hour:

Okay, it’s also useful to walk on foot :) In general, I walked and walked, the trolleybuses still didn’t go, and didn’t go ... so I got to Luzhniki. It was then that a convoy of trolleybuses stood ready:

And, literally, in five minutes she went:

Time shift:

Police captain, judging by the four stars on shoulder straps:

But the major, by status, already relied on the Volga:

Service vehicle:

Mmmmm ... not in vain "twenty-first" - iconic car. It's good after all:

And here are the main characters. YATB-1 from St. Petersburg:

SVARZ TBES-VSHV:

SVARZ-MTBES:

For a long time the Zhdanovskaya metro station has a different name ...

There were no three personalized "writer's" SVARZ-ov-6235.01, as last time - but there was SVARZ-6235.01 with the name "Blue Trolleybus", designated as a mobile club, and announcing the district with music from the speakers hung on it:

This man in brown really spoiled the frame for everyone who shot from this point :):

Today in Moscow there was a parade of trolleybuses. We managed to escort them from the bus and trolleybus depot to the venue of the parade. Vintage models of trolleybuses are a beautiful sight, I suggest you take a look.

1. In front of the bus and trolleybus park, trolleybuses with literary coloring also participating in the parade are already standing.

2. I wonder what kind of "kenguryatnik" he has in front.

3. The park itself is full of people, already from 10 am. Fans of retro technology, journalists, bloggers. However, this is still not the crowd that awaits the equipment at the final point of the trolleybus parade, on Frunzenskaya Embankment. Let's start with this handsome guy. KTG-1 service trolleybus with a cabin on top for technical inspection contact network. Cabin, by the way, from GAZ-52.

4. I sit high ... I look at the wires.

5. Very cheerful coloring.

6. Cute turn signals.

7. Large, iron, without windows.

8. The trolleybus can move using contact network or an internal combustion engine. Decoding KTG, by the way - Kiev cargo trolleybus.

9. On the right is Trolza-5275.00, if I'm not confusing anything. Operated only in Moscow, produced in 2003-2005. Left AKSM-101. Belarusian trolleybus, produced at the Belkommunmash plant from 1997 to 2003.

10. The usual one, square.

11. Next - a classic of the genre. That's how I remember trolleybuses. I think they are still running. This is ZiU-9. Plant them. Uritsky began to produce them (model ZiU-682) in 1972. In total, more than 40,000 of these machines were produced.

12. For me, a trolleybus is just that.

13. The interior is painfully familiar.

14. I also remember such emblems on board.

15. We delve further into history. ZiU-5G (modified ZiU-5). Produced from 1966 to 1968. Cute.

16. Some details. How many rivets.

17. And this is how the whole exposition looks like.

18. The next yellow-black one is the ZiU-5. It was produced from 1959 to 1966. They assure that it could be accelerated to 100 km / h. Hard to believe.

19. Let's look inside. Cabin.

20. Salon. Double padded seats. The shape of the body is still rounded, but already without windows at the top.

21. The coloring is just wonderful.

22. Bright, so visible from afar.

23. Also riveted headlights.

24. In addition to Moscow lovers of trolleybuses, there were also guests from St. Petersburg. They brought the oldest copy to the parade, about which a little later.

25. Here! A wonderful copy. SVARZ-MTBES. This type of trolleybus was produced from 1958 to 1967. Manufactured at the Sokolniki Car Repair and Construction Plant (SVARZ)

26. Also staves. Beauty. By the way, it is this model of the trolleybus that Detochkin's bride drives in "Beware of the Car"

27. Salon. Soft harnesses, in the curves of the body on top of the window. Panoramic glazing is fashionable now.

28. Cabin.

29. Door. Ladder with handrail and steps illumination.

30. In the cabin is a rare unit that issued tickets. You toss a coin, twist the handle and tear off the ticket. Everything is based on honesty. Naturally, they died out like dinosaurs.

31. It's funny, but the speedometer is graduated to 120 km / h.

32. Let's move on to the most beautiful, in my opinion, instance. SVARZ-TBES-VSHV (excursion trolleybus). Excursion (!!!) Trolleybus (!!!). Produced in a limited edition for use at the agricultural exhibition VSHV. Issued from 1955 to 1957 only 18 copies. This trolleybus had a mega-pathetic emblem on the front. No Rolls-Royce or Bentley could not even dream of such a thing.

33. wheel arches interesting shape.

34. Luxurious decoration, beautiful turquoise color.

35. Cabin.

36. Salon. Fashionable saddles.

37. Beautiful.

38.

39. Outside, under the windows there is a wooden edging, between the windows there are decorative round pillars. Outrageously, of course.

40. And what kind of lamp to illuminate the stairs.

41. Headlights.

42. In addition, the journalists spoke CEO"Mosgortrans" Mikhailov Evgeny Fedorovich.

43. A bunch of media representatives. As they say, on all blue screens of the country. Well, well ... Moscow.

44. Dive even deeper into history. MTB-82D. Produced from 1946 to 1961. MTB is the Moscow TrolleyBus. And "82" is Plant No. 82 of the People's Commissariat of the Aviation Industry of the USSR.

45. A fashionable solution in its time with a kind of visor over the windshield.

46. No step illumination.

47. Cheerful blue and white coloring.

48. Trolleybus drivers who will lead rarities to the parade.

49. Rear view.

50. But I don’t know what is behind the glass, what kind of tubes?

51. As I understand it, they entrusted the conduct of historical trolleybuses experienced drivers. Sitting behind the steering wheel of such a rarity is a big responsibility.

52. Let's digress for a while from the classics. After all, this is a functioning bus and trolleybus fleet. Here are the models that are now running along the routes.

53. Lined up in a row. No, classic models more interesting.

54. The star of this parade of trolleybuses is YATB-1. This wonderful trolleybus is one of the first, its production began in 1936, it arrived from St. Petersburg.

55. For a long time it was believed that there were no more such trolleybuses, but in 1996 enthusiasts found one at their summer cottage in Zelenogorsk. It's amazing what the trolley bus did at their summer cottage.

56. The condition of the copy was deplorable, but they managed to restore it anyway. It took 5 years.

57.

58.

59.

60.

61. The body was made of precious wood. More than 70% of the volume of work on each trolleybus is woodwork. And the interior is really amazing.

62. What a luxurious door. Now imagine who rode in these luxurious trolleybuses. They were proletarians, collective farmers, workers. I think the chic of domestic transport was supposed to show the fidelity of the chosen communist direction of development.

63. Soft sofas. This is what I really like. Curtains are beauty.

64. The floor is interesting. Apparently such a depth of the profile so that any dirt from the boots of the proletarians would flow down and it would be impossible to slip.

65. All cars, as expected, are equipped with a sign with the route number, start and end stops. It is quite logical that there is number "1".

66. To be honest, this trolleybus itself looks a bit ridiculous from the outside, especially its front part, but the back is very cool. A slight bevel at the rear, like a car of that time. The wheel arches are also of interesting shape, adding dynamism.

67. Of course, this model is the star of the parade. Even lovers of trolleybuses and other urban transport studied it with great interest. Unique instance.

68. And here is the driver in authentic form.

69. It's time to go to the venue of the parade on the Frunzenskaya embankment.

70. We sit down in the legendary MTBES and move forward. The windows, of course, immediately fogged up. =)

71. To feel the atmosphere of an old trolleybus is priceless. The glazing going onto the roof is now fashionable.

72. Everyone, literally everyone who met the column, took out their phones or cameras and took pictures. Well, yes, not every day you see such beauty on the streets of the city.

On July 8, 2017, the capital celebrated a new big city holiday - Moscow Transport Day. On this day, a column of rare buses proceeded from Denis Davydov Street to Frunzenskaya Embankment, where a festive exposition of retro vehicles unfolded.

Before the start of the movement, retro buses lined up in the Filevsky bus and trolleybus depot.

The ZiS-8 bus is known from the legendary film "The meeting place cannot be changed." On it, Gleb Zhiglov and Volodya Sharapov are chasing bandits. The heroes of the film called this bus "Ferdinand", under this name it was remembered by many residents of our country. The ZiS-8 is unique: it has a wooden body covered with metal sheets. The roof of the bus is multi-layered, the top layer is made of tarpaulin.

The salon was designed for 52 people, 28 of whom could ride seated.
