LiAZ
Since the mid-2000s, LiAZ, which is part of the GAZ Group, has been gradually modernized. Now Likin produces fifteen basic models and about sixty of their modifications. The latest development is urban low-floor buses that fully comply with European requirements. In addition to the traditional 12-meter LiAZ-5292, vehicles with a length of 9.5 m (LiAZ-4292) to 18.75 m (articulated LiAZ-6213) are produced.

Urban aesthetics

A beautiful city bus is actually the same "small architectural forms" that adorn our streets. There were times when LiAZs were not particularly pleasing to the eye. And it's not about design frills - the paint peeled off, holes appeared in the body panels, on the steps and even in the floor. Now everything is different. The welded body of each bus undergoes cataphoretic priming in eight full-immersion baths. Body sides - from steel sheets with double-sided galvanization; they are stretched with preheating and then welded on. It turns out very smoothly, without dents and bubbles, beautiful and durable. In addition, on modern LiAZs, the wheel arches are made of stainless steel, so the plant guarantees the absence of through corrosion of the body for twelve years.

The modern look of Lika buses is given by pasted-in windows. This technology also increases the rigidity of the body. Air conditioning and independent heaters are responsible for the microclimate. Armchairs - anti-vandal, imported or domestic. It is difficult to damage the plastic panels of a beautiful interior, but it is easy to clean and wash. Thanks to the low floor, stepping into the cabin is easy even for older passengers. Bumps hides air suspension.

Our forces

Engines for buses manufactured in Likino-Dulyovo are produced by YaMZ. These motors are the fruit of the joint work of Yaroslavl and the Austrian company AVL. The six-cylinder YaMZ‑536 with a working volume of 6.65 liters develops a power of 240–312 hp, the four-cylinder YaMZ‑534 with a volume of 4.3 liters produces 190–210 hp.

In November 2016, engines (from 150 to 312 hp) were put on the conveyor in Yaroslavl. The abbreviation CNG stands for compressed natural gas. Both motors are not prone to overheating and will find application on trucks and buses designed specifically for use in the city.

Fuel system - Bosch common rail, injection pressure is 1800 bar (with the possibility of increasing to 2000 bar). To meet the requirements of Euro-4 and Euro-5 eco-standards, the engines were equipped with a liquid-cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. In terms of efficiency, engines of the YaMZ‑530 family are able to compete with foreign ones, while being 20–30% cheaper. The declared resource of diesel "fours" is at least 700 thousand kilometers, "sixes" - 900 thousand.

The new motors have significantly reduced the noise and vibration levels at the rear of the bus compared to the previous Cummins and Caterpillar motors.

LiAZ

Don't switch

Automatic transmissions on new LiAZs are imported - ZF EcoLife with electronic control or Allison Transmission T2100 or T270. Both are 6-speed, with torque converter lockup in each gear. The torque converter is also used as a retarder, and it is integrated into the working brake system, which allows you to save pads. Another automatic is the 4-speed Voith Diwa D 864. Imported boxes noticeably raise the price of the bus, but GAZ Group is already working on its own family of automatics with a torque converter.

Lika low-floor trucks are equipped with leading ZF portal axles with cunning final drives. Schematically, they are similar to the army bridges of UAZs and Benz Unimog off-road vehicles. Such bridges allow the floor to be lowered from a height of 405 mm from the ground to 205 mm - of course, when using the appropriate tires.

Will domestic portal bridges appear? There is a hope that their production will be mastered in Chuvashia, at the Kanash auto-aggregate plant, which is part of the GAZ Group.

History of the enterprise LiAZ.

In August 1933, in the Moscow region in the small town of Likino-Dulyovo, the Forest Engineering Plant for Wood Improvement (LOZD) was launched. This event is considered the beginning of the history of the Likino Bus Plant (LiAZ).

Already in 1935, the plant produced: pressed wood and products from it, lignoston bars, insulating boards.

In 1945, the plant was born again and, having received new modern equipment, changed its profile and was renamed, receiving the name "Likinsky Machine-Building Plant" (LiMZ). It produced an extensive range of products: mobile power plants, electric saws, motor trucks, sleeper machines. By 1946, the company employed more than 1,100 employees.

In 1958, a government decision was made on the next re-profiling of the enterprise. The plant was given the name "Likinsky Bus Plant" and since then the production of buses has become its specialization.

Since January 1959, the assembly of passenger buses begins. The first released model from this manufacturer was the LiAZ-158. In just ten years, the company produced 50,000 units of this model. At the same time, designers developed new models.

In the late 1950s and 1960s, housing construction developed with giant strides in the Soviet Union. New microdistricts in the cities grew like mushrooms after the rain. The population in the cities grew rapidly. These circumstances led to the need to develop large-capacity city buses. This is how the famous LiAZ-667 model appeared, the development of which began in 1962. And in the spring of 1968, buses of this brand were put into mass production. For 25 years of production of this model, about two hundred thousand units saw the light.

Chronology of events of the second half of the 20th century.

In 1975, production reached its design capacity of 10,000 buses per year, and 7,837 people worked in the state.

In 1976, the plant, in accordance with the decree of the Government of the USSR, was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.

The enterprise successfully continued its activities, and in 1978 the modernized LiAZ-667M was introduced.

In 1985, the enterprise carried out a lot of work on the reconstruction and modernization of the enterprise, which was aimed at mastering the new LiAZ-5256 bus model, which was developed in the factory design bureau in the late 70s and early 80s.

In 1988, the start of mass production of the LiAZ 5256 model, which became the main one for the enterprise in the nineties.

In August 1994, the production of LiAZ-677 buses, famous throughout the country, was discontinued.

In the mid-nineties, very difficult times came for the company, as a result of which production was completely stopped in 1996. The plant turned out to be a debtor both to its staff in terms of wages and to the state (in the form of taxes). As a result, in 1997 the enterprise was officially declared bankrupt and passed under external management.

Nevertheless, in these difficult times, the enterprise was able to retain the territory, buildings and equipment.

Some time later, after the reorganization, already under the banner of "Likinsky Bus", the enterprise resumed work.

From 2000 to 2004 it is part of the RusAvtoProm concern.

In 2005, it was already an integral part of the GAZ automotive group.

At this time, the designers of the plant are developing and putting into production such new models as the LiAZ-5293 and LiAZ-5292 low-floor buses, the LiAZ-6212 articulated city bus with increased capacity, and the LiAZ-5256 R suburban bus.

In addition, on the basis of previously created buses, trolleybuses are produced: LiAZ-52802, LiAZ-5280, LiAZ-52803.

Today, Likinsky Bus is the largest modern enterprise in Russia, which owns advanced highly developed technologies for the creation of large city buses and ensures the production of products that fully comply with all applicable European standards.

(LIAZ) has been a leader in the production of extra-large and large class buses for many years. The company's product line includes more than a dozen models of public transport, including trolleybuses. In 2005, the organization became part of the GAZ Group of Companies, which made it possible to re-equip the production base and organize the assembly of world-class equipment.

Experienced Wood Chemical

The beginning of the 1930s was a very busy time for the Soviet Union. Having recovered from the consequences of the civil war, the USSR rushed to catch up with the Western countries with all its might. The primary tasks were to build up industrial potential, develop and introduce advanced technologies.

In 1933, near Moscow (in the village of Likino-Dulyovo), on the site of the future LIAZ plant, it was decided to create an experimental enterprise - the Timber Chemical Plant. On its site, it was planned to develop new technologies for the processing and use of wood for the USSR: fiberboard, chipboard, lignoston bars, insulating boards, etc. However, the construction was delayed. Only by the autumn of 1937 were the main buildings built and equipment installed. The first products were wooden linings for rails for the Moscow Metro.

War

No sooner had the plant gained momentum than the Great Patriotic War began. In a few months, fascist troops reached Moscow. The question arose about the evacuation of the enterprise. The equipment was dismantled and relocated under bombardment to the Chelyabinsk region. However, soon the enemy from the capital was driven back, and the echelons returned home.

Through the heroic efforts, mainly of women and adolescents (most of the men fought), the work of the plant was restored. Already in February 1942, the production of wooden products for aircraft, balls for obtaining gunpowder and other products began. For selfless work, the employees of the team were repeatedly awarded medals, orders and commemorative signs.

From wood to machinery

When most of the USSR was liberated, the government faced a no less serious task than defeating the enemy - restoring the country from ruins. The first step was to significantly increase the production of building materials, the most affordable of which was wood. And to increase the pace of logging, mechanisms and equipment were needed.

In 1944, the Wood Chemical Experimental Plant, taking into account its profile and the experience of its employees, was reconstructed into the Likinsky Machine-Building Plant (LIMZ). Its specialization was the production of machines and units for the logging and woodworking industries: sleeper cutters, mobile power plants, skidding winches, motor trucks, electric saws, spare parts for KT-12 tractors and ZIS vehicles. The company also organized the repair of complex diesel engines.

Buses to be

The 1950s were marked by the rapid growth of the automotive industry. As cities expanded, the lack of public transport became more and more acute. This problem was especially urgent for the country's largest metropolis - Moscow. In the late 50s, a decision was made to create a LIAZ bus plant on the basis of LIMZ. The enterprise was located near the capital, and the qualifications of the workers made it possible to organize the production of complex equipment.

In 1958, the reconstruction of the plant began for the production of city passenger buses ZIL-158. The Firstborn rolled off the assembly line on January 10, 1959. This model was produced through 1970 inclusive. For 11 years, LIAZ has manufactured 62,290 vehicles.

From copying to own developments

LIAZ developed rapidly. If in 1959 the factory workers produced 213 vehicles, then in 1963 5419 buses were assembled. By the end of the 60s, productivity was more than 7,000 vehicles.

However, the team swung at more - to create their own model, superior in performance to the reliable, but outdated ZIL. Having gained some experience, engineers and designers have developed an improved version of the large capacious city bus LIAZ-677. The prototype was released in 1962, after a series of tests and improvements in 1967, the first batch was released.

The model turned out to be extremely successful. In 1972, at the autumn Leipzig Fair, she was awarded the Gold Medal, becoming an example for other enterprises of the socialist bloc. It was produced in various versions and modifications until the mid-90s: excursion, city, suburban, northern version, with gas-balloon equipment, in special version (mobile television station). By the end of 1994, 194,356 units had been manufactured.

Thus, LIAZ-677 became one of the most popular models in the country and was widely used both on the territory of the USSR and abroad. For labor achievements the team in 1976 received a well-deserved award - the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.

Development

Having released an excellent product, the factory workers were not going to rest on their laurels. In the early 80s, a new model was developed - LIAZ-5256. However, for its production it was necessary to carry out technical re-equipment of the LIAZ plant. The reconstruction began in 1985 and lasted until 1991.

Initially, the 5256th model was assembled in an experimental workshop in small batches. In 1985, 14 machines were manufactured. During this time, the main shortcomings were identified and eliminated before the release of the model into large-scale production. In March 1991, LIAZ-5256 entered the updated main conveyor, becoming the main model of the enterprise.

Hard times

It is surprising that even during the dramatic years of the Second World War, the enterprise suspended its work for only a few months. But at the end of the 20th century, in the era of technological progress and incredible opportunities, the LIAZ plant was on the verge of an abyss. After the collapse of the USSR, ties with suppliers of components and customers of finished products represented by municipalities were broken. The new government was not up to the buses. The situation was aggravated by a fire at the site for the production of KAMAZ engines, and power units stopped coming to Likino. In 1997, LIAZ was declared bankrupt, and external management was introduced.

Fortunately, in 2000, the Ruspromavto auto holding took patronage over the production, and five years later the enterprise became part of the GAZ group of companies. This made it possible to restore and modernize the technological equipment. And at the same time, start producing modern, economical and environmentally friendly buses of a new generation.

Products

To date, LiAZ produces 20 leading models and about 60 modifications. In 2012, the first LIAZ-6274 electric bus was produced as an alternative to large class buses with gasoline, diesel and gas engines. The vehicle was developed on the basis of the LIAZ-5292 low-floor bus, powered by lithium-ion batteries and designed for urban transportation. For several years, trolleybuses were produced on the basis of LIAZ. Today, the company is ready to produce them to order.

2013 was the year of innovations:

  • Together with partners, a low-floor bus of the European level LIAZ-529230 was manufactured. By the way, 30 cars of this series were used to service the Sochi Olympic Games in 2014.
  • The first suburban low-floor car with a MAN engine was created.
  • For the first time, a Russian YaMZ engine was installed on the LIAZ-529260 low-floor bus.
  • A new design and interior of the bus of the future has been developed. Among the improvements are new front and rear masks, panoramic windows, LED headlights, aerodynamic mirrors, curved, ergonomic handrails, and for the first time in Russia, self-leveling flooring technology was used.

In 2014, a new modification of the large-class bus LIAZ-529260 with a length of 10.5 m was created. A year later, a promising 9.5-meter model of the middle class saw the light. Comfortable ultra-modern tourist and intercity buses of the Cruise and Voyage series became the pride of the factory workers. According to the corporate policy of the company, in the future new models will be produced under the single GAZ brand, regardless of the place of production, be it in Likino, Pavlovo, or Kurgan.

LIAZ plant: reviews

Judging by the feedback from employees, the company is a desirable place to work. After joining the GAZ Group of Companies and the subsequent modernization, the conditions for the implementation of labor activities have improved markedly. Salaries have grown, all employees are provided with a significant social package.

Satisfied with the activities of the plant and partners: whether they are suppliers of components, or customers. LIAZ pays off contracts on time, avoiding debts. And its products meet the highest standards of quality, convenience and economy. By the way, all currently produced buses are equipped with engines of Euro-4, Euro-5 environmental classes, and some modifications are of the promising Euro-6 standard.

Where is the LIAZ plant located?

The production facilities of the enterprise are located in the large east of the Moscow region. Administratively it belongs to the Orekhovo-Zuevsky municipal district. The plant is city-forming.

Address of the LIAZ plant: 142600, Russian Federation, Likino-Dulyovo, Kalinina street, 1.

"Blog Trucker" continues a series of photo reports on the enterprises of the division "Russian Buses - GAZ Group". We present to your attention a photo report from the Likinsky bus plant. Get comfortable, there will be many photos.

1. Our factory tour begins with the press and blank shop.

2. Here, longitudinal and transverse cutting of rolled steel takes place, as well as all the necessary blanks for cold stamping of parts for future buses.

3. Line "Halbron".

4. In cold stamping production, facing panels of the body, as well as parts and assemblies of elements of the body frame are made.

5. Laser cutting section using the "Trumpf TL - 3030" complex.

6. With the help of a cunning crane, the operator feeds the metal sheet into the working area of the machine.

7. We managed to look behind the protective screen and see how the laser beam burns through the correct profile of the future workpiece at high speed.

8. After some time, the machine unloads the finished parts.

9. But this is just the beginning of a long process.

10. A little later, with the help of a press, they will be given the desired shape.

11. Finished parts are waiting to be sent to the next stages of production.

12. Workflow.

13. Manufacturing, coil - evaporator, air system. Later we will see how the part looks on the finished bus.

14. Now let's proceed to the workshop of welding and bodywork. The photo shows the SCHLATTER roof assembly-welding line. Previously, workers are gathering elements of the future roof on the slipway.

15. SCHLATTER at work.

16. We follow the conveyor thread. Step by step, the elements of the bus acquire more and more new parts.

17. The front panel of the bus is being assembled. Welder at work.

18. Finally, the time comes when all the elements of the bus frame are assembled on the conveyor into a single whole. The front is in the photo.

19. The so-called frame is the lower, load-bearing part of the bus body.

20. On the slipway, observing the strict geometry of the body, all parts are assembled into a single whole.

22. Welding of the body on the slipway. Now, if you wish, you can consider the silhouette of the future bus.

24. In order for the sides of the bus to be absolutely even, LiAZ uses a unique technology. Before welding, the metal sheet is heated to a temperature of 90 degrees Celsius. It increases in size and only then, it is pulled onto the frame.

25. The final touches of the bodywork.

26. Please note that two parts of the articulated bus are sent for cataphoresis treatment of the body.

27. There are no analogues of such a process for bodies of such dimensions in Russia, other CIS countries and neighboring countries.

28. A fragile girl is in command of the process.

29. The bodies are alternately dipped into several huge bathtubs.

30. At one time, the plant became the first enterprise in Russia to apply a complete anti-corrosion treatment of bodies using the cataphoresis method. The essence of this method of electrolytic staining is that the product placed in a cataphoresis bath is exposed to an electric field. As a result, a special water-based paint is deposited on the entire product, not missing even hard-to-reach corners. The adhesion of the epoxy layer to metal is extremely strong, and the resulting coating is resistant to the most aggressive weather conditions.

32. It was a revelation to me that the roof of the bus is one hundred percent covered with a plastic sheet.

33. LiAZ claims that this technology is an order of magnitude more practical and durable.

34. The company constantly employs about one and a half thousand workers, with an average salary of 35 thousand rubles.

35. At the moment, February 2012, 10 new buses leave the factory gates every shift.

36. But the highest volume of orders at LiAZ falls at the end of the year, because the main customers of the enterprise are budgetary organizations. At such moments, the output of buses from the assembly line increases dramatically. The company is recruiting temporary workers and raises wages.

37. Bodies are a matter of legitimate pride of the plant.

38. LiAZ guarantees that the bodies of its buses will last at least 12 years before through corrosion.

46. The size of the enterprise is impressive. The conveyor line floats on two floors at the same time.

47. It's time to go down to the final bus assembly line. Bridges are installed on the conveyor every 45 minutes, an engine every 90 minutes.

48. At the request of the customer, the machines are equipped with bridges from ZF, Raba or domestic KAAZ.

49. In this case, as can be seen in the photo, a drive axle from a German manufacturer, ZF, is installed on the bus.

50. The choice of engine and gearbox also depends on the desire of the customer. The range of units is wide, from domestic YaMZ and KAMAZ, to the best imported samples from MAN, Caterpillar, Cummins. Gearboxes Voith, ZF.

Likinsky bus plant

When in 1933, in the village of Likino-Dulyovo near Moscow, the Timber Chemical Pilot Plant for Wood Refinement (LOZOD) was built, few could have guessed that the foundation of one of the flagships of the future Russian automotive industry was being laid here. However, originally producing insulating boards and compressed wood, since 1945 the plant began to manufacture electric saws, trellis cutters and mobile power stations. The transition to "machine-building rails" finally took shape in 1958, when the first bus, ZiL-158, was produced at the plant, then called LiMZ (Likinsky Machine-Building). The following year, the plant was renamed and received the well-known name LiAZ.

In the nineties LiAZ, like most Russian enterprises, has gone through very difficult times. The rupture of traditional economic ties within the USSR, large personnel losses put the LiAZ plant on the brink of disaster. Nevertheless, having gone through enormous difficulties with the production and sale of products, bankruptcy and bankruptcy management, the LiAZ plant nevertheless got on its feet and was able to start producing passenger vehicles again. This turned out to be not an accident, but a real revival of the enterprise, and at the beginning of the new 21st century, LiAZ was able to modernize production equipment and start producing buses that could compete on equal terms with the products of other enterprises.

Products LiAZ occupies one of the leading positions in the large-class bus market. Suffice it to recall the LiAZ-5256 bus model, which has already been produced in the amount of more than 20,000 units, and production is still ongoing. In addition to it, the LiAZ plant produces a number of other bus models. Not all of them have yet become widespread, but there is no reason to doubt that over time, transport organizations will appreciate the new LiAZ.

New buses of the "old" factory

The range of products produced by the plant LiAZ machines are exceptionally wide. Of course, LiAZ city buses are the most famous, but the company is constantly developing and preparing to release new models and even new types of transport. For example, not so long ago, LiAZ, in addition to the lineup of buses, began production of trolleybuses. In addition, the LiAZ plant was the first in Russia to master the production of modern low-floor articulated buses, without which the further development of urban passenger transport is unthinkable.

Currently, LiAZ produces many types of vehicles. It includes:

Of course, this classification is conditional. The product range of the LiAZ plant is constantly expanding, and at any time you can expect the appearance of new types of buses and trolleybuses LiAZ. Nevertheless, the above list gives a general idea of the sea of passenger transport that is produced at LiAZ.

Some of the buses produced at the factory LiAZ, are unique for Russia. Such, for example, are the LiAZ articulated buses produced since 2002. No one in our country, except for LiAZ, has so far manufactured low-floor buses of an especially large class, and the articulated LiAZ-62132 bus has no analogues among domestic transport. LiAZ has no competitors in terms of capacity: even the GOLAZ articulated bus, model AKA-6226, lags behind LiAZ's accordions. Its capacity is 170 passengers, while LiAZ articulated buses are designed to carry 178 people.

High quality LiAZ products

Not only buses are unique LiAZ– the technologies used by the plant are also unique. Currently, the LiAZ plant has equipment from Japan, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Thanks to the modernization of production, LiAZ can now produce world-class products, and LiAZ buses are not inferior in quality to their foreign counterparts.

New technologies on LiAZ applied on the widest scale.

The method of cataphoretic priming is widely used in the automotive industry, but only LiAZ among Russian car factories began to do full cataphoresis treatment of bodies. At the factory LiAZ a unique line of anti-corrosion treatment and painting "Jeiko" was installed, which has no analogues in Russia. This line includes a special cataphoresis bath, which allows you to place in it and process the whole body, so you do not need to fear that corrosion will begin at the joints. At the moment, this method of applying an electrolytic primer, in addition to LiAZ, is used only at individual enterprises in Western Europe.

In addition to cataphoresis, other methods provide corrosion resistance of LiAZ bodies. If earlier the outer parts of LiAZ buses were made of ordinary “black” metal, now all body elements that rust the fastest under normal conditions are made of galvanized steel. The introduction of other modern technologies, in particular, assembly on a volumetric slipway and precision welding, made it possible to reduce the cost of manufacturing bodies while simultaneously improving their quality. now factory LiAZ confidently guarantees that the bodies of its buses will last at least 12 years before through corrosion.

Despite the fact that the bodies are the subject of the legitimate pride of the plant LiAZ, the rest of the buses are not inferior to them. In the manufacture of buses, parts are used that are produced only by those manufacturers who have managed to prove the high quality of their products. For example, LiAZ power units increasingly include CAT diesel engines manufactured by the American company Caterpillar. This company has been producing industrial equipment and engines for ships and cars for more than sixty years, and during this time has managed to win the respect of consumers.

However, the plant LiAZ does not refuse cooperation with domestic enterprises, equipping its buses with engines manufactured by YaMZ and KAMAZ. Their quality is still inferior to imported ones, but both manufacturers are making every effort to correct this situation. Since 2007, the Yaroslavl Motor Plant, which supplies YaMZ engines for LiAZ buses, has been producing engines that comply with the Euro-3 international environmental standard. Not far behind YaMZ and KAMAZ, whose engines are still somewhat behind the Yaroslavl ones in terms of service life, but they are lighter, more economical and more convenient to maintain.

In addition to diesel, for buses LiAZ gas engines are also installed. As you know, the use of natural gas as a motor fuel is cheaper than gasoline or diesel fuel, but at the same time, gas engines are much cleaner than other types of internal combustion engines. The LiAZ plant could not stand aside and developed a number of modifications of buses running on gas. These LIAZs use Cummins engines developed by the independent American concern Cummins Inc., which has been the leader in the US engine industry for eighty years, and the use of its products makes gas LIAZs high-quality and reliable vehicles.

In addition to engines, other bus parts are also of high quality. There are no complaints about Raba bridges, which are also equipped with LiAZs. These bridges have been known to us since the time when the USSR massively purchased Ikarus buses, and even then the products of this Hungarian enterprise proved to be the best. Standing on buses LiAZ Raba bridges have an amazing service life: in the difficult 90s, when domestic auto production practically stopped, bridges from decommissioned buses were often put on newly manufactured cars - and consumers had no complaints. LiAZ never had problems with these bridges either. In addition to Raba, LiAZ buses also use KAAZ bridges, which are not inferior in quality to Hungarian ones.

Passenger transport of the XXI century

No matter how high-quality the “stuffing” of the bus is, passengers first of all appreciate the convenience of the bus. It should be noted that the products LiAZ there are no problems with this. When modernizing the classic model of the LiAZ-5256 city bus and developing new LiAZs, great attention was paid to convenience and comfort.

This attention is manifested in many ways. Passengers of LiAZ city buses will certainly appreciate the convenience and practicality of the new seats. Now there is no need to be afraid that due to wear and tear or an unknown hooligan, the seat will become unusable: due to the high strength of the seats in the LiAZ cabin, they will last a long time, and hooligans will have to try very hard to damage the special anti-vandal structure. In general, it should be noted that hooligans on buses LiAZ sure to be boring: high quality workmanship and durable finishes do not allow destructive "talents" to roam. At the same time, we can say with confidence that ordinary law-abiding citizens will like the comfortable and roomy passenger transport manufactured by LiAZ.

Ordinary city buses are quite high, and it is not always easy for the elderly, the disabled and children to climb them. Taking care of the passengers LiAZ has developed and has already begun production of several models of low-floor buses. Their floor is only 35 cm from the road level, and therefore there is no need for passengers to climb the usual stairs into these LiAZs. Low-floor buses are produced in two versions - in the form of an ordinary city bus of a large class and an articulated giant with a capacity of 178 people. It should be noted that the low-floor articulated LiAZ is an absolute novelty of the domestic auto industry. Not a single enterprise in Russia, except for the LiAZ plant, has yet produced them.

In addition to high-floor and low-floor models, LiAZ manufactures semi-low-floor buses. Many consider this LiAZ model not a very successful compromise, but it should be noted that such a bus is still more convenient for passengers than the traditional high-floor LiAZ. In addition, low-floor bus models are still more expensive to manufacture than high-floor ones, and the semi-low-floor LiAZ makes it possible to combine the interests of bus buyers and their passengers.

As already mentioned, not so long ago LiAZ began the production of not only buses, but also trolleybuses. As you know, the Russian trolleybus fleet is significantly worn out, and many of the vehicles currently being produced were developed back in Soviet times and have become obsolete. The idea that it would be good to equip high-quality and modern LiAZ buses with electric motors has been ripe for a long time. For some time, LiAZ even cooperated with other enterprises, first producing experimental models, and then semi-finished vehicle kits, on which other plants themselves installed electrical equipment. However, such a "distribution" of production entailed an increase in the cost and a decrease in the quality of cars, and therefore in December 2007 a line for the production of trolleybuses was launched at the LiAZ plant. Now LiAZ trolleybuses are no longer a "hybrid" transport, in fact - a converted bus, but a full-fledged urban electric transport at the level of all modern requirements.
