Vaz 2107 carburetor does not start. What to do, the carburetor does not start

27.09.2019

Hello everyone, today I would like to consider three reasons why the VAZ 2107 car does not start.

The carburetor seven may not start if one of the three systems fails - this is the starting, ignition and power system. If the start system is out of order, the driver will immediately understand about it. After trying to start the VAZ 2107, the engine crankshaft will either not rotate, or it will be very sluggish, which is not enough for a fruitful engine start.
In most cases, this is due to a dead battery. Also, the starter will not be able to crank the crankshaft if the battery terminals are oxidized or there is no voltage. Now a little about the possible malfunctions of the VAZ-2107 starter. Burning the traction relay will also wear out and hang the brushes and prevent your starter from starting the car. Starter mechanical failures include wear on the overrunning clutch, drive gear, and starter armature bearings.

The second reason why the seven does not start is, of course, the lack of a spark. For your information, this car was equipped with two types of ignition (classic and non-contact). The reasons for the loss of a spark on spark plugs are rather banal, first of all, carbon deposits on the insulator and a strong increase in the electrode gap. Also, a faulty ignition distributor cover, a slider that breaks through to ground, high-voltage wires, a faulty ignition coil, and on non-contact systems, the switch fails.

Well, the third reason why the VAZ-2107 does not start is the lack of gasoline, or rather, when gasoline stops supplying. On the carburetor seven, this is due to a leaky fuel pump diaphragm. Or a badly worn drive pusher.

Also due to dirty carburetor fuel jets. But on electronically controlled engines, the lack of gasoline supply to the cylinders gives a lot of trouble finding a problem. Well, that's all, we have considered the main reasons due to which the VAZ-2107 car does not start for everyone yet.

What to do if the injection engine of the car does not start? What to do when, when the key is turned in the ignition, the starter turns, but the engine does not start. If the engine was carbureted, then the situation with the definition of breakdowns is a little simpler. How are things with injection engines?

In an area where there are a sufficient number of auto repair shops, and calling a tow truck is not a problem, solving the problem is not so difficult. But what if there is no such possibility? After all, there are times when you have to do everything yourself. In fact, many breakdowns due to which the engine does not start can be fixed on your own.

Tools needed for self-diagnosis

  • Bulb. You can make such a control lamp yourself by connecting wires from the instrument panel to the lamp. To do this, you need to use light bulbs up to 3 watts.
  • Discharger. It is needed to determine if a spark is being supplied to the spark plugs. There are many recommendations for self-assembly of such a device.
  • Multimeter. It's not very easy to assemble here. But such "testers" are widely available in the trading network.

Possible reasons why the injection engine does not start

Fuel system

It is necessary to diagnose the fuel supply system. In domestic injection cars, when starting the engine, you can hear a specific buzzing from the rear of the car. This sound indicates the operation of the fuel pump. Accordingly, if such a buzzing is not observed, most likely the problem lies in the pump.

You need to check the fuses that are responsible for the fuel pump, the main engine control relay and the fuel pump relay. In some cars of the VAZ family, the fuses are hidden under the glove compartment, in others behind the heating panel cover on the passenger side. If the fuses are ok, check the relay.

You can touch it, and a specific click should sound. If the relay is also working properly, you need to check the pressure in the fuel system. It is best to do this with a manometer. If this is not possible, you will have to find a spool, which should be under a protective cap.

When you press it, you should feel pressure. Some models do not have a spool. Then you need to disconnect the fuel supply pipe. If the pump is working, then pressure should also be felt under the finger.

Possible causes could also be clogged fuel filters or fuel lines. There may also be such a banal reason as the lack of fuel in the tank.

If it turned out that all the elements of the fuel system are in order, then the next thing to pay attention to is the ignition system.

Ignition system

The main thing to be sure of is the presence of a good spark, that is, a discharge between the two contacts of the spark plug. If the starter turns, but the engine does not start, then there is a high probability that the ignition system is malfunctioning. Here we need our spark gap. If you check the candle without it, for example, by attaching it to the engine, then the resistance will be too great.

Therefore, we will not be able to accurately check our candles and, in addition, the controller can be disabled. After checking the fuel system, the ignition system and not finding the causes of the malfunctions, it will be necessary to check the engine. Most likely, the reason is in it.

Starter malfunction

This can be a very common reason that the car engine does not start. In order to establish a possible cause of a starter failure, it is very good if the motorist has at least a rough idea of the structure of this mechanism, and how you can check whether it is working.

For owners of foreign cars, it is important to know that imported starters can stop turning even from a lack of lubrication or contamination. In this case, the solution is very simple: remove the starter from the engine, thoroughly clean it of dirt and thoroughly lubricate the necessary mechanical components. Moreover, the used grease must be removed. In principle, this is not difficult, but if it does not work out, then it is better to contact the master.

Some starter malfunctions can be identified by ear. If you turn the key in the ignition, the starter clicks, but it does not start, then most likely the relay is faulty. If possible, then you need to repair it. If the relay cannot be repaired, then it is worth replacing it. Only collapsible types of relays can be repaired.

Accumulator battery

The battery must not be damaged and the terminals must be clean without oxide, otherwise the battery will not make good contact with the car's electrical wiring. The battery must have sufficient charge and "hold" it.

If the battery has been used in the undercharge mode for some time, then the probability of deep discharge is very high, at which it will no longer be able to recover.

Wiring

Corrosion can form on the wiring elements or at the joints, which prevents the normal flow of current. All contact pairs must be clean and connections insulated.

nozzles

Injectors in a car rarely fail all together and at the same time. Therefore, if there is a malfunction of one of the injectors, then the engine will still be able to start and work, albeit intermittently.

crankshaft sensor

If this sensor is faulty, the engine will not be able to start. At the same time, the starter turns, but the engine still does not start. The failure of other sensors will not be able to affect so much that the engine does not start. To test the sensors, you should use a multimeter.

On the road, as you know, anything happens. It can lower the wheel, and more than one. The axle shaft may pop out of the rear axle. The brakes can also fail, moreover, only the rear or front, or maybe all at once. There are cases when a car driving along the autobahn simply flared up like a Bengal fire due to a simple circuit. in such a situation, it is useless to try to save your iron horse, you need to think about yourself and the passengers, everything happens pretty quickly.
Tests have shown that a production copy of BMW burns to the ground in 3.5-4 minutes. But, let's not scare the reader of this article, but consider the option when the car just stalled. In this case, no dramatic events should occur, if, of course, it is not winter in the yard, and the nearest settlement is not a couple of tens of kilometers away. Let's say it's summer outside, in the trunk there is an elementary set of tools: a couple of screwdrivers, a candle wrench, pliers, there is enough money in the wallet, and there is a car shop nearby.

Power supply

The first thing an engine needs to run properly is a steady, constant spark of the right amount of power. We will not go into the details of sparking. We only note that there is a wiring from the distributor to the ignition coil, the shorting of which “to ground” is the first, most elementary reason that the VAZ 2107 carburetor engine does not start. To test this hypothesis, it is necessary to remove the cover of the ignition distributor and inspect everything inside. If this is not the case, then, without closing the lid, we look at the slider. It has a resistor on it. Why it is needed - we will not understand either. We just take it out, insert an aluminum wire jumper in its place, after which we collect everything and try to start it.
We unscrew the candle from the 1st from the front cover of the cylinder. First of all, you need to examine it. Let's assume that it is raw, that is, gasoline enters the combustion chambers. Now you need a source of fire to "ignite" it, burn all the gasoline vapors on it. This operation can be omitted if there are spare candles or the ability to purchase them. After that, we insert it into the candlestick and press it with pliers to the “mass”. Then we turn the starter and see if there is a spark. As a rule, it is visible even on a sunny day. But even her presence means nothing. You have to pay attention to what color it is. It should be bluish, if dark blue, then the spark is just perfect. If it has an orange color, or red, then such a candle is unsuitable for further use. As motorists say, it "struck to the ground." This means that the center electrode, which is surrounded by an insulator, shorts to a housing that is screwed into the cylinder head.
If, nevertheless, the car does not start even after such events, then there are several more possible reasons. If a contact ignition system is used, then again remove the cover of the ignition distributor. We take a piece of sandpaper, clamp it into the contact node and fidget with it until their surface becomes even. It is also advisable to check the gap between them by placing the piston of the first cylinder at top dead center.

Well, if all this did not help to start the engine, then it remains to replace the armored wires, or the ignition coils. Unfortunately, it is impossible to check these details without special equipment, at least a simple multimeter.

Fuel

Another necessary factor for the normal operation of any internal combustion engine, not only VAZ, is the timely supply of the working mixture to the combustion chamber. If the engine is hot, the first thing to check is whether the choke is closed. The fact is that hot gasoline tends to be more sprayed, and when air enters a hot cylinder, it does not expand as much as it would be “cold”.
The easiest way to check if gasoline is entering the cylinders is to unscrew the candle, as discussed above. If it is wet, then everything is in order. If it is dry, then the first thing you need to pay attention to is the fuel filter, more precisely, whether it is filled with gasoline or not. Even if there is no gasoline in it, you need to follow a couple of simple steps:

  1. Loosen the fuel line clamp at the fuel pump inlet.
  2. Remove hose
  3. Plug the inlet pipe of the fuel pump and make a few strokes.

We look at the field of this, whether it sucks in air. If not, then unscrew the central screw and check if the filter is clogged. Well, if it just does not pump, then it must be replaced.

Other cases

There are other reasons why the engine will not start. For example, a car drove down a slope for a long time, in which case all the gasoline in the tank drains to one side and the intake is not immersed in it.
This situation can also be the case if the car has been standing back to the slope for a long time, then gasoline flows out of the system. There is a check valve on the fuel pump for this case, but it often does not work.
It may also be that the battery charge has dropped to zero, but in this case, the starter will not rotate. Well, it would be necessary to say about the most elementary reason, which should not be allowed, let's say last. Run out of petrol.

Consider a very important issue: the VAZ 2107 will not start. Every car owner should know the solution to this problem, this is very important. The car may refuse to start both on the highway, and somewhere in the forest at a picnic, and in the garage at home. And it is not always possible to call someone for help or to hold the car to a car service. Plus, if you ask someone to help, it will take your time and money. Therefore, each driver should be able to solve this issue for himself.
So, we have the following problem: the VAZ 2107 will not start. Before describing the search for a problem, you need to decide: do you have a VAZ 2107 injector or carburetor?

The VAZ 2107 with a carburetor was produced at the very beginning of the production of this car since 1982, since 1994 they began to install an injector on newer cars. Naturally, troubleshooting is very different. Therefore, if you have a VAZ 2107 injector, then you need to read the following article “VAZ 2107 injector does not start”.
If we are dealing with a VAZ 2107 carburetor, then again we need to decide on the ignition system. VAZ 2107 was produced with both contact and non-contact ignition systems. The contact ignition system has a breaker-distributor in the distributor, the contactless ignition system has a switch with a Hall sensor.
It is very important to immediately decide on the ignition system, because the very first thing we will look for is a spark, but first things first.
VAZ 2107 does not start, procedure:
1) The very first thing you need to pay attention to is whether the starter turns the engine. If the starter turns the engine vigorously, go straight to the second point. If the starter does not rotate when the ignition key is turned, the following reasons are possible:

1a) The battery is dead, or poor contact in the battery terminals. A dead battery is checked with a multimeter. The voltage of a charged battery should be about 12.8 volts. If the battery voltage is less than 11.2 volts, then such a battery needs to be charged.
Poor contact of the battery terminals is visible as oxide on the contacts. In this case, the terminals are removed and cleaned with sandpaper.
1b) If a click is heard when the key is turned, but the starter does not turn, this works out the starter solenoid relay. Check if all wires are connected to the starter, as well as the reliability of their fastening. If no sounds are heard at all when the key is turned, it is necessary to check why the solenoid relay does not work. In any case, if the starter does not turn, then you should try to start the VAZ 2107 from the pusher: turn on the ignition and try to put in third gear on a rolling car. If the problems are with the starter or the retractor relay, then the car will start.
1c) Problems with the contact group of the ignition switch, that is, when the key is turned, the ignition switch does not close the necessary contacts and the starter control circuit is not assembled.
2) If the starter turns the engine vigorously, it is necessary to check for spark from the ignition coil. To do this, we take out the central wire from the distributor, bring it to the mass and rotate the engine. A spark should jump from the wire to ground. If there is a spark, we immediately go to step 3. If there is no spark, then we recall the question at the beginning of the article: is a contact or non-contact ignition system installed on the VAZ 2107?
2a) Contact ignition system. It consists of a distributor with a breaker-distributor and an ignition coil. We remove the cover from the distributor and turn the starter - the slider should run. If the slider is in place, then the timing belt is torn. On the first VAZ 2107, there was a chain drive instead of a belt, but then they began to put a belt. If the slider is spinning, then:
- We check the ignition coil by the continuity of its primary and secondary windings. A detailed check is described in the article.
- We check the correct operation of the breaker-distributor.
- Change the distributor breaker capacitor. If it fails, a spark sometimes remains, but it is too weak. Sometimes there is no spark at all.

2b) Contactless ignition system VAZ 2107. The contactless ignition system consists of a switch, ignition coil and.
- Check the Hall sensor. We take it out of the distributor, turn on the ignition, and insert it with a knife, take it out into the gap of the Hall sensor. At the same time, a spark should jump on the central wire of the ignition coil. If there is no spark, then this does not indicate a malfunction of the Hall sensor, you need to look further.
- The switch is checked only by replacing it with a new one. We change to a new one, or taken from a friend - a spark appeared, which means the problem was in the switch.
- We call the ignition coil as described above.
- Check for voltage at pin B of the ignition coil. If not, we find out the reason for the lack of power to the ignition system.
- If there is a spark on the central wire of the ignition coil, but it is not on the candles, then the runner resistor is broken, or it is necessary to clean the contacts of the distributor cover.
3) There is a spark, but the VAZ 2107 does not start, which means that fuel does not enter the carburetor. Do you remember if there is fuel in the gas tank? Fuel system check required:

3a) We check the VAZ 2107, for this we fold the hose from the pump to the carburetor, bring the container to the fitting and turn the starter.
A good stream of gasoline should spray from the pump. If it is not there, then the fuel pump is faulty, or the pipeline from the gas tank to the fuel pump is clogged. It is also very easy to check for clogged fuel lines. Disconnect the supply tube to the pump and blow into it with your mouth. Air should pass through and you should hear it gurgling in the gas tank.
3b) If the fuel pump is working, then the carburetor needle may be stuck. To check it, first remove the air filter pan from the carburetor.
Immediately pay attention to the condition of the carburetor cover, whether it is splashed with oil from the crankcase ventilation system. It is necessary to draw a couple of milliliters of gasoline into the syringe and sprinkle it into the first chamber of the carburetor. Then try to start. If the engine tries to start, or even starts but then stalls, then the carburetor needle valve is stuck. The float chamber is empty, there is no gasoline in it and therefore the VAZ 2107 will not start. To make the needle come off, you can try to blow into the carburetor's gasoline supply fitting with compressed air. You can also tap on the carburetor cap with a wrench. If that doesn't help, you'll have to remove the carburetor cover. If after removing the cover you see a float
camera without gasoline, then the problem is in the needle.
3c) Check the carburetor strainer. To get it, unscrew the plug with a 13 key and take out the strainer with tongs. If it is dirty, clean it and try to start the car.
4) We check the timing marks: the mark on the camshaft and flywheel. If the marks do not match, then the valve timing is broken and the VAZ 2107 engine will not start.
5) If you have fixed the problem, there is both a spark and fuel, but the car does not start, then the candles may be filled. It is necessary to unscrew them and dry them on fire. If this is problematic, you can try to squeeze the gas pedal to the floor and turn the starter for 5-10 seconds. When the gas pedal is depressed to the stop, the fuel is not sprayed and the candles are dried by the air drawn in during engine rotation.
The technique described above works in 99 percent of cases when the VAZ 2107 does not start. Very often people do not even know what to check when the car does not start. They do not know how to check the spark, how to check the fuel supply. In most cases, everything is very simple.
However, there are special cases that only masters or car service workers can figure out. In any case, it is always worth trying to start the car yourself, especially now that you know what to do.

I must say, the reasons why the VAZ does not start: 2107, 2106, the model is not so important, not so much. Consider in the article the main reasons why the engine does not start.

In general, this problem has two directions: lack of gasoline and lack of spark. That is, fuel must enter the cylinder, and it must ignite. This is a simple truth that needs to be addressed. In addition, there are two more directions - this is an injection and carburetor engine. We will focus on them.

VAZ 2107 carburetor does not start

  • Checking the fuel pump. To do this, it is desirable to have a fine fuel filter, which is installed under the hood. And with the quality of our gasoline, there is simply no way without it. So, if you manually shake the pump, then gasoline should circulate in the filter. If the filter is dry, then it is worth looking for the cause in air leakage in the fuel line. This is rare, but it does happen.
  • If the VAZ 2107 engine does not start, and the fuel line is intact, the fuel pump itself must also be checked. To check, remove the inlet pipe, for starters. Fuel must not leak from the pump. If this happens, then the check valve is faulty, the pump needs to be replaced. If the fuel is holding, it is necessary to plug the inlet pipe with your finger, and then pump the pump 5-6 times. After doing such actions, a vacuum should be created in the pump. It should not reset even after a minute.
  • When the fuel pump is working and the fuel reaches the carburetor, it is worth doing the following. We remove the air filter cover, after which we ask the assistant to look into the intake manifold. Next, turn the starter and press the gas pedal. With such actions, fuel must be poured into the manifold. If not, then the carburetor needs to be flushed.

You should definitely understand that these are not all possible reasons why gasoline does not enter the cylinders. Each case of a malfunction is purely individual, so there is simply no solution to the problem for all occasions.

Now let's see why the carburetor-type VAZ engine does not start, if everything is in order with the fuel system, and the candles are “filled”. In this case, you need to pay attention to the ignition system.
  • The first thing to do is check the spark on the candles. To do this, we unscrew one candle, insert it into the candlestick, lean it against the "mass", best of all, against the engine head. Next, we ask the assistant to watch, and we turn the starter ourselves. The spark should be stable, bluish in color. If it is red, then such a candle should be replaced.
  • Further, if there is no spark, you need to look at the cable that is screwed to the box bell. It must be securely rolled, the contact must not be oily. Ideally, it is worth throwing a separate cable to the engine. Preferably with a cross section of at least 12-15.
  • If there is still no spark, we pull out the central high-voltage wire from the distributor cap, be sure to take it with pliers and attach it to the block head with a gap of about half a millimeter, maybe a little more. Then we turn the starter and see that there is a spark. If it is, then the malfunction lies in the distributor. We will return to this point.
  • When there is no spark, then you need to check the ignition coil and check the voltage at the “K” contact (2 wires are screwed to it. If there is no voltage, then it’s either in the ignition switch, and the names, in the contact group, or in the wire, or in the block fuses To check, you can duplicate the wire from the 15th contact of the ignition switch.
  • Well, back to the distributor malfunction. First, you need to check the gap in the contacts of the breaker, if, of course, they exist. It should be 0.4 mm.
  • You also need to check the integrity of the resistor, which is installed in the slider.
  • If everything is in order, then it is necessary.

On this, perhaps, we will finish with the carburetor engine. Certainly. If the VAZ engine does not start, gasoline is supplied, there is a spark, the ignition is set correctly, then it would be necessary to check the compression. It in the "Zhiguli" engine should not be less than 11.

VAZ 2107 injector does not start

With an injection engine, everything is a little easier and more complicated at the same time. In principle, there are two directions again: gasoline and a spark. Well, compression, respectively. For starters, there is a "check engine" light that will come on if the ignition system is malfunctioning. The error code in this case will begin with P03XX. That is, misfires in the cylinders. Of course, you must first check if there is a spark. There are several diagnostic methods that you should pay attention to:
  • diagnostic scanner. There is nothing complicated here. If there is an error, then everything is much easier than when there are no errors at all. In this case, we check the part itself, and then the reasons, if it is working.
  • ignition module. There are several methods worth trying to check, but the most reliable is to go to the store and take it for a check with a receipt. You can immediately talk about returning it if your own is in good condition. Of course, not all stores will do this, but most will agree.
  • The VAZ engine does not start it for one reason. This is quite common among car enthusiasts. The control unit has two transistors, each of which is responsible for a pair of cylinders. Most often they burn out at the same time, and the spark disappears completely.
If everything is fine with the spark, you need to check the power to the engine. Again, we unscrew the candles and see if they are wet.
  • If the candles are dry, then you need to see if voltage is applied to the nozzles, for starters. To do this, remove the connector from one, connect the tester probes to the connector and the ground.
  • After making sure of this, it is necessary to measure the pressure in the fuel rail.
  • Most likely this is a bug. Therefore, it is necessary to check the fuel pump, first of all, the fuse that is responsible for it.
  • It is easier to check the fuel pump by replacing it with a known good one, as with the ignition module.

The VAZ 2107 engine does not gain momentum, does not pull

It happens that the VAZ engine does not pull. This is most often due to low rail pressure. The engine starts normally, at idle it also runs stably, but does not gain momentum. The thing is that in such modes, the fuel pump requires increased performance, which it cannot provide.

If the VAZ engine does not pull hot, then it is worth checking the air flow meter, as well as candles. The article has already mentioned a red spark, and so, on a cold one, they can be normal, but under the influence of temperature they become “pierced.
