An excerpt characterizing Prusov, Pyotr Mikhailovich

It seemed so natural to Pierre that everyone loved him, it would seem so unnatural if someone did not love him, that he could not help but believe in the sincerity of the people around him. Moreover, he did not have time to ask himself about the sincerity or insincerity of these people. He constantly had no time, he constantly felt himself in a state of meek and cheerful intoxication. He felt himself to be the center of some important general movement; felt that something was constantly expected of him; that if he didn’t do this, he would upset many and deprive them of what they expected, but if he did this and that, everything would be fine, and he did what was demanded of him, but this something good still remained ahead.
More than anyone else in this first time, both Pierre's affairs and himself were mastered by Prince Vasily. Since the death of Count Earless, he has not let go of Pierre. Prince Vasily looked like a man weighed down by deeds, tired, exhausted, but out of compassion he could not finally leave this helpless young man, the son of his friend, apres tout, [in the end] and with such a huge fortune to the mercy of fate and rogues. In those few days that he spent in Moscow after the death of Count Bezukhy, he called Pierre to him or came to him himself and ordered him what needed to be done, in such a tone of fatigue and confidence, as if he always said:
"Vous savez, que je suis accable d" affaires et que ce n "est que par pure charite, que je m" occupe de vous, et puis vous savez bien, que ce que je vous propose est la seule chose faisable. You know, I'm overwhelmed with business; but it would be ruthless to leave you like that; of course, what I'm telling you is the only possible one.]
“Well, my friend, tomorrow we are finally going,” he said to him one day, closing his eyes, running his fingers over his elbow and in such a tone as if what he was saying had been decided a long time ago between them and could not have been decided otherwise.
- Tomorrow we are going, I give you a place in my carriage. I am very happy. Here we have everything important. And I should have for a long time. Here's what I got from the Chancellor. I asked him about you, and you are enrolled in the diplomatic corps and made chamber junker. Now the diplomatic road is open to you.
Despite all the strength of the tone of fatigue and the confidence with which these words were uttered, Pierre, who had been thinking about his career for so long, wanted to object. But Prince Vasily interrupted him in that cooing, bass tone, which ruled out the possibility of interrupting his speech and which he used in case of need for extreme persuasion.
- Mais, mon cher, [But, my dear,] I did it for myself, for my conscience, and there is nothing to thank me for. No one ever complained that he was too loved; and then, you are free, even if you quit tomorrow. Here you will see everything yourself in St. Petersburg. And it's time for you to move away from these terrible memories. Prince Vasily sighed. Yes, yes, my soul. And let my valet ride in your carriage. Oh yes, I had forgotten, ”Prince Vasily added,“ you know, mon cher, that we had accounts with the deceased, so I received from Ryazan and will leave it: you don’t need it. We agree with you.
What Prince Vasily called from "Ryazan" was several thousand dues, which Prince Vasily left with himself.
In St. Petersburg, as well as in Moscow, an atmosphere of tender, loving people surrounded Pierre. He could not refuse the place or, rather, the title (because he did nothing) that Prince Vasily brought him, and there were so many acquaintances, calls and social activities that Pierre, even more than in Moscow, experienced a feeling of haziness, haste and everything that comes, but does not happen any good.
From his former bachelor society, many were not in St. Petersburg. The Guard went on the march. Dolokhov was demoted, Anatole was in the army, in the provinces, Prince Andrei was abroad, and therefore Pierre could neither spend the nights, as he used to like to spend them, nor occasionally take his soul in a friendly conversation with an older respected friend. All the time it was held at dinners, balls, and mainly with Prince Vasily - in the company of the fat princess, his wife, and the beautiful Helen.
Anna Pavlovna Scherer, like others, showed Pierre the change that had taken place in the public view of him.
Previously, in the presence of Anna Pavlovna, Pierre constantly felt that what he was saying was indecent, tactless, not what was needed; that his speeches, which seem clever to him, while he is preparing them in his imagination, become stupid as soon as he speaks out loud, and that, on the contrary, the most stupid speeches of Hippolytus come out clever and sweet. Now everything he said came out charmant. Even if Anna Pavlovna did not say this, he saw that she wanted to say it, and she only, in respect of his modesty, refrained from doing so.
At the beginning of the winter from 1805 to 1806, Pierre received from Anna Pavlovna the usual pink note with an invitation, in which was added: “Vous trouverez chez moi la belle Helene, qu" on ne se lasse jamais de voir ". [I will have a beautiful Helen that you never get tired of admiring.]
Reading this place, Pierre for the first time felt that some kind of connection had formed between him and Helen, recognized by other people, and this thought at the same time frightened him, as if an obligation was imposed on him that he could not keep, and together he liked it, as an amusing assumption.
Anna Pavlovna's evening was the same as the first, only the novelty that Anna Pavlovna treated her guests was now not Mortemar, but a diplomat who had arrived from Berlin and brought the latest details about the stay of Emperor Alexander in Potsdam and how the two highest friend swore there in an inseparable alliance to defend a just cause against the enemy of the human race. Pierre was received by Anna Pavlovna with a touch of sadness, obviously related to the fresh loss that befell the young man, to the death of Count Bezukhy (everyone constantly considered it a duty to assure Pierre that he was very upset by the death of his father, whom he hardly knew) - and sadness exactly the same as the highest sadness that was expressed at the mention of the august Empress Maria Feodorovna. Pierre felt flattered by this. Anna Pavlovna, with her usual art, arranged circles in her drawing room. A large circle, where Prince Vasily and the generals were, used a diplomat. The other circle was at the tea table. Pierre wanted to join the first, but Anna Pavlovna, who was in an irritated state of a commander on the battlefield, when thousands of new brilliant thoughts come that you barely have time to put into execution, Anna Pavlovna, seeing Pierre, touched him on the sleeve.

The ceremony of selling the first car LADA 4x4 Urban was attended by the "godfather" VAZ-2121 "Niva" Pyotr Mikhailovich Prusov. We bring to your attention a short interview that the chief designer of "Niva" gave to the editor-in-chief of the Official LADA Club, Yuri Efimov.

Petr Mikhailovich, behind us is a LADA 4x4 Urban car. The opinion is ambiguous around this car, due to the fact that it has plastic bumpers. Off-road enthusiasts say that's bad for a car designed for off-road use. Fans of city driving, on the contrary, say that they like it. Express your opinion as a person who devoted many years to this car LADA 4x4, when it was still called "Niva". Your opinion? What can you say about this car?

If this car were offered instead of the Niva, I would, first of all, leave everything else, except for the bumpers. The bumper would not be "pulled". But it's a modification. This is an addition, of course. And so I think this is the case. You will remember: when there was a general decline in the market (we are talking about the post-perestroika years - ed.), we then “gave birth” to a bunch of modifications based on the Niva - both pickups, and vans, and 5-door versions and 3-door. Today, the time has come and we must again offer the market various options. Therefore, as a variant of LADA 4x4 Urban may well exist.

I just talked with Mr. Moskalyuk, who until recently led the LADA 4x4 project. He said that in the future (about six months) a car could be presented that would occupy the niche of the extreme version of the LADA 4x4. Do you know about it? Did you hear something?

I know I've heard about it. But I want to say that the extreme Niva is a narrow niche, since the Niva has enough prospects without it. This proposal (at the same time, Petr Mikhailovich points to the LADA 4x4 Urban standing behind him), in my opinion, in terms of the number of sales on the market, it will be more than the extreme version. But I will repeat again that I advocate that now, until a new car comes out, there would be as many options as possible.

As a person who was directly involved in the birth of this car, that is, the prototype, at least, and the base car, say: looking back many years ago, what would you change about it?

On a major note, I would change one thing: I wouldn't make the transfer cases separately. Because, even when I was dealing with this issue, I was persuaded to take this option, because (everyone probably already forgot) the original car production program was 25 thousand. Then it became 50 thousand, even later 75 thousand. But initially the program was designed to produce 25 thousand cars, and this left its mark on my decision. Today, if this project had been started from the very beginning, I would not fundamentally change anything at Niva. But I would not make remote transfer boxes.

When you and your team were designing the Niva, did you assume that this car would live so long?

To be honest, no. For two reasons, no. First, they don't live that long. Secondly, I will remind you that the Chevy Niva is the Niva, which was supposed to replace the existing car. But it so happened that the name was sold to a joint venture with General Motors. I can tell you that according to the law, when the contract was signed, this Niva (the current LADA 4x4 - ed.) should have ended in 2005. It was then that we raised public opinion, raised the Association of Automotive Engineers. There was a magazine called "4x4" there. The name remains, but the magazine, of course, is completely different. Raised the Union of Commodity Producers, headed by Ryzhkov. We appealed to the Antimonopoly Committee, and it recognized these points as worthless. That is why she is still alive. But again, I repeat, the car, unfortunately, is not cognac. With age, it does not get better and therefore it is already necessary to change it.

In Tolyatti, at the age of 75, the famous Soviet and Russian automobile designer Pyotr Prusov, who created the all-terrain vehicle VAZ-2121 Niva, died.

Prusov Pyotr Mikhavlovich was born on January 6, 1942 in the village of Zubki, Lioznensky district, Vitebsk region, Byelorussian SSR. Father - Mikhail Vladimirovich Prusov (born in 1905) - collective farm foreman, participant in the hostilities of 3 wars, holder of the Order of the Red Star. Mother - Prusova Olga Emelyanovna (b. 1907) - a collective farm worker, was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and two bronze medals of the USSR Exhibition of Economic Achievements.

The creator of the legendary Niva car, which entered the top three best cars in the world in 1979.

The design of the Niva was truly revolutionary: never before in the world has a jeep been built on the components of a passenger car. Its design was ahead of world developments in this direction. Japan caught up with the USSR in this segment only in 1990, and it was the only Soviet car that was purchased by this country for sale on the domestic market; Niva fan clubs still exist and are actively operating in Japan. "Niva" was successfully sold in more than 100 countries around the world. In New Zealand in the 80s, 40% of all SUVs were Niva, and in Austria - 90%. In France, in general, the Niva has been a cult car for a long time. The Niva dossier contains world-class humanitarian actions: for more than 15 years these vehicles worked at the Soviet Antarctic station named after Bellingshausen, in 1998 the Niva conquered the North Pole of the Earth and under its own power reached the site on the Everest mountain range at an altitude of 5200 m, and in 1999, with a group of climbers, she overcame the ascent to Tibet to a height of 5726 m, which no one else in the world had overcome on wheeled vehicles before. Niva won dozens of victories at international rallies, including Paris-Dakar.

April 5, 2012 marked the 35th anniversary of the start of serial assembly of the Niva, the total volume of sales of which to consumers in all markets has long exceeded 2 million units.

As deputy chief designer (1983-1998) and chief designer of AVTOVAZ (1998-2003), P.M. No wonder in his honor (the only Soviet and Russian auto designer) on the Alley of Technical Glory in Flint (USA) in 2010 a nominal Star was installed.

Prusov is listed in the book "Who is who in Russia", according to this publication, he was awarded 16 Gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals of VDNKh of the USSR.

P.M. Prusov was the initiator of the creation in 1998 and the first chairman of the Council of Chief Designers of Russian Automobile Plants, which confirms the unprecedented height of his authority as a designer and organizer of production in the community of Russian engineers.

Since 2007 Prusov P.M. is engaged in solving problems of expanding the sales markets for the products of JSC AVTOVAZ. With his direct participation, the production of LADA-4x4 cars was organized in the Republic of Kazakhstan at Asia-Avto LLC, which allowed AVTOVAZ OJSC to increase the assembly program of car kits by 5,000 units. Currently, Petr Mikhailovich is working on organizing production at a new automobile assembly plant in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Since 2009 Prusov P.M. led a working group on projects for the production of LADA cars and auto components in Argun, the Chechen Republic. This task has been successfully completed, and in 2012 JSC AVTOVAZ will increase the production of car kits by another 2,000 units. For his contribution to the development of machine-building production in Chechnya in January 2012, the head of the Chechen Republic R.A. Kadyrov awarded Prusov P.M. Medal "For Merit to the Chechen Republic"

Thanks to his great life experience and deep professional knowledge, Prusov P.M. is rightfully invited by the government and relevant organizations to the commissions during the formation and discussion of new regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation in the field of technical regulation of the production and circulation of vehicles. With the active participation of Prusov P.M. the technical regulations of the Russian Federation "On the safety of wheeled vehicles", the special technical regulations of the Russian Federation "On the requirements for emissions of hazardous substances by motor vehicles put into circulation on the territory of the Russian Federation", the technical regulations of the Customs Union "On the safety of wheeled vehicles" were developed and brought to practical implementation. funds".

The number of received by Prusov P.M. Since 2000 alone, there have been 20 patents and copyright certificates for inventions and utility models, of which 4 are for inventions, the economic effect of implementation (excluding co-authors) is about 40 million rubles. For a huge contribution to the development of mechanical engineering on behalf of the Russian Public Commission in 2007, Prusov P.M. was awarded the gold medal of Peter the Great "For Labor Valour".

Prusov P.M. actively participates in social activities. He is a member of the executive committee of the international automotive organization FISITA. Recognition of the merits of Peter Prusov among the technical and scientific community was his election as president of the Association of Automotive Engineers of Russia, currently he holds the position of vice president of this organization. Prusov P.M. works a lot and fruitfully with young engineering staff, has repeatedly headed the State Attestation Commission at Togliatti State University.

In 2004, on the initiative of Petr Mikhailovich, a non-profit organization "Forte Charitable Foundation" was created, which is engaged in the development and implementation of social education programs in the city of Togliatti. He is the founder and chairman of the board of the foundation.

The name of Peter Mikhailovich Prusov is inscribed in golden letters in the history of the global automotive industry. Such people-legends, outstanding world-class figures like Pyotr Mikhailovich, multiplying the glory of Russia, set an example of true patriotism and pride in their native Fatherland. The life and fate of this man are a clear example of honest and conscientious work for the benefit of Russia. It is these people that the younger generation should look up to. It is a great honor for Togliatti that the legendary car designer lives in our city, strengthening the belief in the possibility of further development of his industrial enterprises. Thanks to the work of such people as Pyotr Mikhailovich Prusov, our city rightfully bears the title of the automobile capital of Russia.

Taking into account the contribution to the development of the industry of Togliatti, to the creation of a powerful engineering potential of the city, to strengthening the interest of the world community in the technical developments carried out in Togliatti, to promoting the popularization of engineering specialties among the youth of the city, Petr Mikhailovich Prusov was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the Togliatti City District" (Decision of the Duma city district of Togliatti No. 895 dated May 16, 2012).
