Detailed characteristics of the crossover Hyundai ix35. Bad owner reviews about Hyundai ix35 I Typical problems and malfunctions

24.12.2017

Hyundai ix35 (Tussan/Tucson)- a compact crossover of the Korean company Hyundai. The popularity of crossovers in the modern world is simply off scale, and this model is not only one of the most prominent representatives of this class, but for a long time was one of the three most popular crossovers in the CIS, Europe and Asia. Today, like 7 years ago, there are a lot of people who want to buy a Hyundai ix35, however, it’s unlikely that they will be able to buy this car new (out of production), but in the secondary market, the head is spinning from offers. Therefore, today I decided to talk about the most common sores of this popular model and what you should pay attention to when choosing a used Hyundai ix35 (Tussan).

A bit of history:

Hyundai ix35 debuted in 2009 at the Frankfurt auto show, mass production of the model was launched in 2010 at factories in South Korea, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and China. By and large, it was not a new model, but the second generation of the popular Hyundai Tussan crossover in the CIS, which premiered in 2004. This was confirmed by the fact that the novelty retained its former name (Tussan) in the American and Korean markets. Compared to its predecessor, the ix35 is equipped with more powerful and economical engines, the security system has also been improved, but in terms of dimensions, the novelty is not much different from the first generation. Like the Tussan, the ix35 was designed on a common platform with the Kia Sportage model. Based on the Hyundai ix35, the Chinese company JAC Motors created the JAC S5 model.

In 2013, the car experienced the first restyling, which resulted in a modified design of rims and optics - a bi-xenon with diodes for daytime running lights was installed in front, a new two-liter gasoline engine with direct fuel injection appeared (for many CIS countries - distributed injection). The changes also affected the interior, appeared: a system that allows you to change the degree of effort on the steering wheel Flex Steer, a heated steering wheel and an electronic instrument panel with a diagonal of 4.2 inches. Production of the Hyundai ix35 crossover ended in 2015. In March of the same year, the third generation of the car was presented at the Geneva auto show, which was returned to its former name - Hyundai Tussan. Sales of the new car in the CIS started in November 2015

Weaknesses Hyundai ix35 (Tussan) with mileage

The paintwork of the body turned out to be not too resistant to external influences and is considered a frankly weak point of this model. Small chips and scratches occur even from a weak mechanical impact, so finding a reason for minimal bargaining will not be difficult. However, owners of almost all modern cars face similar problems. On copies operated in megacities - paint may begin to swell on the hood, roof, rear wheel arches, tailgate and windshield pillars. Fortunately, dealers recognize this defect as a factory defect (reluctantly) and fix it under warranty. As for the corrosion resistance of the body, there are no comments yet, which means that the car has protection against the red disease.

The disadvantages include the unfortunate location of the glass washer fluid reservoir. The fact is that it is located very close to the front bumper (on the right side) and in case of a minor accident or a collision with a large snowdrift, in addition to restoring the bumper, you will also have to change the reservoir (cracks). Some owners complain that it takes considerable effort to close the doors. This drawback is the merit of the people who assemble the Korean crossover. In most cases, the problem is solved by adjusting the locks.

Disadvantages of power units

Hyundai ix35 on the domestic market is presented with gasoline engines - 2.0 (150 hp since 2003 164 hp) and 2.4 (177 hp) - installed in Europe and on the top version of the Limited Edition, as well as diesel CRDi 2.0 (136 and 184 hp). The European market was also available petrol 1.6 (138 hp) and diesel CRDi - 1.7 (116 hp). The two-liter G4KD gasoline engine is quite reliable, besides, it can run on 92-octane gasoline without any problems. But in this case, it is necessary to adjust the valve clearances more often (every 90 thousand km), since it does not have hydraulic compensators ( only on pre-styling versions of cars). The presence of characteristic noises will tell you about the need for this procedure. Common disadvantages of this motor include malfunctions of the chain tensioner, CVVT clutch and hydraulic compensators ( on cars since 2013). Troubles with them can begin quite early (after 50,000 km), the symptoms are increased noise.

The most serious problem is the appearance of scoring in the cylinders ( may appear after 70-80 thousand km), because of this you have to change the piston. A signal about the need to visit the service will be an extraneous knock that appears while the engine is running. If the warranty is over, then the cylinder block will have to be lined - 1000-1500 USD. So listen carefully before buying. In the cold season, the diesel engine until it warms up at least a little, this is a common thing for this engine, which dealers call it a feature. Also, “chirring” is considered a normal phenomenon - a feature of the operation of fuel injectors. If a whistle appears, pay attention to the condition of the air conditioning compressor bearing, most likely it is worn out and needs to be replaced. If the spark plugs fail, at low engine speeds (1000-1200), vibrations increase. Although the motor itself is not the quietest, you need to be prepared for the appearance of various sounds, for example, the gas pump may begin to make various hissing sounds over time.

On cars with a mileage of 100,000+ km, it is necessary to monitor the condition of the catalyst, the fact is that when it is destroyed, its particles enter the cylinders and form scuffs there. The resource of catalysts is 100-150 thousand km. In the gas distribution mechanism, the only weak point was the phase shifter on the intake shaft. The problem is rare, but unpleasant, since replacing the phase change clutch will be expensive. At the same run, there is a high probability of failure of the timing balance shafts. The disease is accompanied by increased vibration during engine operation. With proper maintenance, the motor will last 250-300 thousand km without problems. A more powerful power unit G4KE / 4B12 - a volume of 2.4 liters. It is structurally similar to the G4KD motor - it uses the same system for changing the valve timing on both shafts, there are no hydraulic compensators, and it has identical disadvantages.

Diesel engines

Solar engines attract buyers with their fuel efficiency, for example, the weakest unit paired with “mechanics” consumes a little less than 7 liters per 100 km on average and has better traction. In diesel power units, the weak point is the crankshaft damper pulley, as a rule, it becomes unusable at a range of 50-100 thousand km (a “chirring” appears). Replacement will cost relatively inexpensively - about 100 bucks. The glow plug relay is also considered problematic - if it fails, the engine stops starting and the turbine boost pressure sensor - if it malfunctions, the “check engine” error appears on the instrument panel and power is lost.

Problem starting the engine in the cold season may be due to poor contact, due to oxidation of the wiring on the glow plug bar at the crimp point. When using low-quality diesel fuel, the pre-filter located in the fuel tank quickly becomes clogged (after 30-50 thousand km). The problem is accompanied by a deterioration in dynamics and twitching during acceleration. After 150-200 thousand km, you need to be ready to replace the turbocharger, fuel injectors and dual-mass flywheel. None of these options will be cheap. Of the minor ailments, one can note the loss of tightness of the oil pan gasket. The remaining possible troubles can be attributed to the operational features of all diesel engines - long warm-up, sensitivity to the quality of diesel fuel, etc.

Transmission

Hyundai ix35 (Tussan) was equipped with one of two types of gearboxes of its own production - 5 and 6-speed manual, as well as a 6-speed automatic. Any of the transmissions, with proper maintenance (oil change every 60,000 km), will please with impressive mileage and a small number of problems. One of these is the noise of a manual transmission, which in most cases can be eliminated by changing the oil. In automatic transmissions, minor jerks can be bothered when changing gears. The problem is treated by flashing the transmission control unit. Rarely, but still, there are cases of failure of the gearbox switch position sensor. With this malfunction, it is not possible to change the position of the box switch. On cars of the first years of production, the oil supply pipe to the oil cooler may not hold well - it may fly off ( risk of oil leakage).

Four-wheel drive

In all-wheel drive versions of the car, when slipping, the rear wheels are connected using an electronic center clutch. It is also provided for forced locking of the clutch using the “Lock” button located on the front panel - when the lock is turned on, the moment will be distributed between the axles 50:50. If you move at a speed of more than 30 km per hour, the forced lock is turned off and the clutch works in automatic mode. As for the reliability of this system, here the owners can expect a couple of unpleasant surprises. Over time, pockets of corrosion appear on splined joints, which significantly accelerate wear - the joint of the right compound drive shaft suffers the most. As a result, the slots are licked - there is a backlash and a rumble. To fix the problem, you will have to replace the intermediate shaft and the inner CV joint (200-250 USD). If the ailment is not eliminated in a timely manner, the intermediate shaft bearing mount may break off.

After 100-150 thousand km of run, corrosion can begin to affect the splines of the drive shaft in the transfer case and differential cup. In this case, the repair will cost 1000 USD. To avoid the above troubles with an all-wheel drive transmission, it is recommended to carry out preventive maintenance every 30-40 thousand km - lubrication of splined joints. In cars with diesel engines, due to the greater torque, under heavy loads, the differential basket along the weld can begin to collapse. Two types of couplings were used on the car - JTEKT (Japan) was installed on cars until 2011, after Magna Steyr (Austria). Up to 100,000 km there are no serious complaints about their performance, later failures may occur due to damage to the insulation of the wiring and wear of the brushes of the electric motor.

Also, over time, the clutch seal begins to flow, if you ignore the problem for a long time, you will have to repair the clutch. For cars manufactured before 2011, the propeller shaft outboard bearing is considered a weak spot (it may need to be replaced after 50,000 km), for later copies, 120-150 thousand km go. The problem is manifested by a hum while driving.

Disadvantages of running Hyundai ix35 (Tussan) with mileage

The Hyundai ix35 has a moderately stiff and knocked down suspension, which provides the crossover with a good level of handling at high speeds. But outside of flat roads, due to short suspension travels, the cabin shakes noticeably, which reduces ride comfort. But such a drawback can be forgiven, since the car is a typical "SUV" and is more designed for driving on the highway, and not beyond. Independent suspension with anti-roll bars is used on both axles: in front - MacPherson strut, in the rear - multi-link. Extraneous noise when driving over bumps is a feature of the suspension and is aggravated with the advent of cold weather. Often the noise is caused by loose plastic inside the wheel arches and other elements. Another source of knocking can be anthers and bumpers of shock absorbers - they fly off the seat (relevant for cars manufactured before 2012).

As for the shortcomings of the suspension, first of all I would like to note the small resource of the floating silent blocks of the rear suspension wishbones, it is often necessary to change them on a run of 60-70 thousand km. The stabilizer struts run a little less - 40-50 thousand km. Also, the rear springs are not famous for a large resource - they sag, and shock absorbers - go up to 80-100 thousand km. Other elements of the rear suspension can last up to 150,000 km. In the front suspension, before 100,000 km, only the stabilizer struts and bushings need to be replaced - they go up to 60,000 km. Ball bearings and wheel bearings serve an average of 100-120 km, shock absorbers, thrust bearings and silent blocks nurse up to 150,000 km. For vehicles with all-wheel drive, up to 100,000 km, the rear arm bracket, to which the stabilizer bar is attached, may begin to collapse.

On cars equipped with a tire pressure sensor, tire replacement or repair must be carried out very carefully, as often inexperienced craftsmen break off the spool ( it has a pressure sensor), because of which I had to buy a new part, and it is not cheap. There are complaints about the reliability of the steering, equipped with electric power. As a rule, bushings wear out by 80-100 thousand km - if there is a problem, a knock appears while driving on rough roads. On some specimens, rack gears wore out on the same run. Steering tips go 70-100 thousand km, thrust up to 150,000 km. There may be problems with the brake system, some owners complain about the premature failure of the brake pedal switch. If the car is equipped with a keyless start system, if there is such a problem, the engine will not start, and the automatic transmission will not work either.

Salon and electronics

The quality of the interior finishing materials is quite budgetary, because of this you should not count on good wear resistance - the plastic elements of the panel are easily scratched, air duct deflectors, at times, break only from a harmless attempt to change the flow in an unheated car. You should not count on good acoustic comfort either - at first the whistle of the stove fan begins to disturb (cleaning and additional lubrication of the motor solves the problem). Then the “crickets” from the armrest are connected to the symphony, and then the center console with the glove compartment and the trunk lid trim. The problem is solved by gluing the noise, but do not use excessive force so as not to break the plastic fasteners.

One cannot ignore the front seats, which by 100,000 km of run, in addition to having many defects in upholstery (leatherette is cracking), also lose their shape (crumbling filler of the driver's seat cushion). As for the reliability of electronics, not everything is so smooth here. After several winters, the rear view camera fails. The reason is that the contacts (connectors) on the microcircuit are oxidized. For the same reason, standard parking sensors also fail. Rarely, but still, there are malfunctions in the head unit. In some specimens, in the first years of life, spontaneous ignition of control lamps occurred, followed by a short-term shutdown of the instrument panel. When contacting the dealer, the “tidy” was changed under warranty.

Outcome:

Despite the impressive list of possible problems, it is impossible to call the Hyundai ix35 (Tussan) unreliable, since all these problems are unlikely to overtake the same car. But is it worth buying this car in the secondary market, you decide. But do not forget that when choosing this model, you need to take into account many factors, especially if you want to purchase an all-wheel drive version, because, for example, a faulty clutch can result in a very expensive repair.

Advantages:

  • The presence of all-wheel drive.
  • Original design.
  • Pretty comfortable fit.

Flaws:

  • Low quality finishing materials.
  • Weak paint finish.
  • Some elements of the all-wheel drive are prone to corrosion.

If you are the owner of this car model, please describe the problems that you had to face during the operation of the car. Perhaps it is your review that will help readers of our site when choosing a car.

The Koreans showed a restyled version of their compact crossover Hyundai ix35 back in the spring of 2013, as part of the Geneva Motor Show. The novelty reached Russia only in the fall - then the refreshed car began to appear in the showrooms of official dealers. This means that the time has come for a full acquaintance with the updated Hyundai ix35.

But first, a little digression into history: For the first time, the “ix35” was presented during the motor show in Frankfurt, Germany at the end of 2009 as a replacement for the 1st generation Hyundai Tucson, which was outdated at that time. The car arrived in Russia in April 2010 and eventually climbed to the third line in the ranking of the best-selling compact crossovers in our country.

The Hyundai ix35 is built on a common platform with the third generation Kia Sportage and is produced in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.

Restyling of the ix35′go (2014 model year for Russia) took place at the European Technical Center Hyundai Motor Europe in Rüsselsheim. And this is not surprising, because the main market for this model is located just in Europe and the car is sharpened specifically for a European buyer.

There were no global changes in the appearance of the crossover, and this is also not surprising, since it makes no sense to change the appearance of a successfully sold car ahead of time. The designers of the European division of Hyundai only slightly trimmed the contours of the bumpers, slightly updated the radiator grille, proposed a new design of 17 and 18-inch wheels and changed the optics, both front and rear.

The headlights now feature a stylish LED strip of daytime running lights, neatly emphasizing the upper contour of the optics, which in top trim levels can also be bi-xenon. LEDs also appeared on the rear lights, without which it is already quite difficult to imagine a modern car.

In terms of dimensions, there were no changes. The body length of the restyled Hyundai ix35 remained at the level of 4410 mm, while the wheelbase length is 2640 mm. The width of the crossover does not exceed 1820 mm, and the height fits into the framework of 1670 mm. The front wheel track is 1591 mm, the rear is 1 mm wider. The ride height is 170mm.

By analogy with the exterior, there are practically no changes in the five-seat crossover cabin.

It retains its ergonomic and time-honored layout while taking a step up in materials quality and adding some minor tweaks such as additional cupholders, new decor and a 'new Santa Fe' style instrument panel with 4" color LCD. -display.

The luggage compartment, as before, easily accommodates 591 liters of luggage (and, if necessary, by folding the rear sofa, its volume increases to 1436 liters).

Before restyling in Russia, only two engines were offered for the Hyundai ix35: one gasoline and one diesel. Now, our market has one more engine - due to the addition of a weaker version of the diesel power unit, which previously successfully proved itself in the European market. At the same time, diesel installations were significantly modernized, and the gasoline engine was completely replaced with a new generation engine.

So, from now on, Russian fans of the ix35 crossover will be offered a 16-valve engine of the Nu family instead of the previously used Theta-II. The new engine has the same front transverse inline four-cylinder layout under the crossover hood. Moreover, the total cylinder displacement of 2.0 liters (1998 cm³) remains unchanged. In the European market, the Nu family engines are offered with a direct fuel injection system, due to which the engine power is 163 hp, but versions with distributed injection will be supplied to Russia, so the maximum power will be limited to 150 hp. At the same time, the torque of the new motor at its peak at 4700 rpm is 191 Nm, which is slightly less than that of the old engine. In terms of environmental friendliness, the motor of the Nu family fully meets the requirements of the Euro-4 standard.

The gasoline power unit will be aggregated either with a new 6-speed "mechanics" or with the already familiar 6-speed "automatic". With a manual transmission, fuel consumption should be about 7.3 liters of gasoline of a brand not lower than AI-95, and modifications supplemented by automatic transmission “eat” about 7.4 liters per 100 km. For all-wheel drive versions of the crossover, consumption will increase by an additional 0.2 liters.

The manufacturer is silent about how the dynamic characteristics have changed, but we recall that with the previous gasoline engine (similar in parameters), the Hyundai ix35 accelerated to a maximum of 183 km / h, and spent about 10 on the starting spurt from 0 to 100 km / h, 4 seconds.

As mentioned above, another option appeared in the camp of diesel engines, which immediately became the youngest. In fact, this is the same four-cylinder turbodiesel with a displacement of 2.0 liters (1995 cm³), but with a lower degree of forcing. The engine has an in-line arrangement of cylinders, is equipped with a 16-valve timing mechanism and a fuel system with direct injection. At the same time, we note that the diesel engine has been noticeably modernized, focusing mainly on improving fuel efficiency. Among the changes made, we highlight the new exhaust gas recirculation system, which operates on the basis of the new LP-EGR eco-technology.

The power of the younger version is declared at the level of 136 hp, while the maximum power level of the older diesel engine remained at around 184 hp. The Koreans again do not disclose the exact figures for the achieved fuel efficiency, but, according to several European sources at once, diesel fuel consumption for a 184-horsepower engine has reached 6.0 liters instead of the previous 7.1 liters. However, only independent tests in Russian conditions can confirm or refute this information.

Diesel engines will be aggregated with a 6-speed "automatic". Before the restyling, the 184-horsepower engine was already supplied only in tandem with the “automatic”, but the 136-horsepower engine is “friends” with the automatic transmission for the first time. There will be no front-wheel drive on diesel versions, both engines will be offered only complete with an all-wheel drive system.

The suspension of the Hyundai ix35 compact crossover was practically not updated during the restyling. Korean engineers only slightly reconfigured individual components and replaced a couple of silent blocks. Everything else remains the same. An independent suspension based on MacPherson struts with an anti-roll bar is attached to the load-bearing body in front. At the rear of the car, a multi-link independent design is used.

In the top version, the crossover can be equipped with shock absorbers with adjustable stiffness, and rack and pinion steering is complemented by a new Flex Steer system that controls the operation of the electric power steering and allows you to adjust the steering sensitivity and gear ratio. Flex Steer operates in three standard modes: "Normal", "Comfort" and "Sport", the function of manual (free) adjustment of parameters is not provided.

Disc brakes are used on all wheels of the crossover, while the front discs are ventilated. The all-wheel drive system is based on a multi-plate clutch with electromagnetic control and has the function of forced blocking with subsequent auto-off when a speed of 40 km / h is reached.

Even before restyling, the Hyundai ix35 crossover was considered one of the safest cars in its class, for which it even managed to receive the Top Safety Pick award from the American Institute for Insurance and Highway Safety (IIHS), as well as five full stars in Euro NCAP tests, showing a decent a level of 90% safety for an adult passenger and 88% for a child. During the restyling, the developers strengthened their leadership by bringing the crossover security system to almost perfection. However, you can appreciate the innovations only by becoming the owner of a top-end configuration; on basic modifications, the security system is limited to front airbags and standard electronic systems like ABS and EBD.

After restyling, the Hyundai ix35 2014-2015 model year is offered on the Russian market in more trim levels, and the names of the equipment levels themselves have changed: instead of the previous “Start”, “Classic”, “Base”, “Comfort”, “Style” and “ Prestige" appeared "Start", "Comfort", "Travel" and "Prime", while some of them have additional configurations with "Advanced" and "Style" packages, which in total is as many as 15 versions (taking into account different gearboxes ).

From now on, the manufacturer includes in the basic equipment of the crossover full power accessories, air conditioning, an on-board computer, a standard audio system with AUX and USB support, fog lights, heated front and rear seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, a full-size spare tire, fabric interior. The cost of the starting configuration of the Hyundai ix35 in 2015 is 1,142,900 rubles, the “surcharge” for “all-wheel drive and automatic” will be about 157,000 rubles.

In the "top" equipment, the car is equipped with a leather interior, an engine start button, a Flex Steer system, window tinting, a heated steering wheel, bi-xenon headlights and other options. The cost of the "top" version of the Hyundai ix35 starts at 1,628,900 rubles.

And for fans of "heavy fuel" - the most affordable version of the ix35 with a diesel engine will cost 1,468,900 rubles.

Six years ago we "tried on" Hyundai Tucson (AR No. 21, 2004), which became a bestseller in Russia. And now it's the turn of the Hyundai ix35 successor, which gathered more than a thousand buyers in the first month of sales. And this despite the considerable prices - from 899,900 rubles for a front-wheel drive version with a two-liter gasoline engine (150 hp). But the Russians most willingly take the ix35 with a multi-plate clutch in the rear wheel drive and a six-speed “automatic”: this is the crossover we took for “fitting”. In the basic configuration with climate control, a stabilization system, leather inserts in the cabin and a rear view camera, such a Hyundai ix35 costs 1 million 93 thousand rubles, but the keyless entry system, engine start button and rear parking sensors increased the price of our car to 1 million 168 thousand rubles.

Nikita Gudkov

I put the car in the editorial parking lot, brought the keys to the security guard on duty - and now it remains to certify this fact in a special journal. I'm writing: "Gudkov, the date is such and such, Hu..." How do you spell it? Hiu?.. Hue?.. Hyu?.. I looked at the previous pages - there was no one to even peek: my colleagues did not rack their brains and simply wrote - ix35...

It is difficult to live without a well-established, understandable name. So you have to impersonate someone else. For example, for the Ford Kuga: the same trapezoidal motifs, in profile - a little obese, but the same silhouette. It is even more difficult to live without character and without a taste for life. Who can love this primitive plastic with a blue backlight, like in a morgue?

The gasoline ix35 does not want to pick up speed - but you can “blunt” it even more by turning on the Eco mode. The steering wheel seems to be wedged near “zero”: if you turn it five degrees at high speed and release it, it will remain turned. The suspension hammers and rumbles on bumps, as if under a pseudo-Ford body - heavy continuous bridges from UAZ. But you can’t dream of UAZ’s cross-country ability - with such a clearance and short-travel suspensions, you still need to try to go around Logan ...

There was such a film - "Without a Face" with Travolta and Cage. The face of a scoundrel was transplanted to a police agent in order to introduce him to the bandits. And the robber forced the doctors to transplant the agent's face with threats - and for a long time he pretended to be a hero!

So far, the no-name ix35 manages to pass itself off as "good". Moreover, there are advantages: spacious rear seats, a roomy trunk, even two - the niche around the spare wheel can be filled with a huge amount of belongings. But cracking the impostor is easy: you need to ride it a little more than a test drive around a car dealership suggests.

Pavel Karin

Looking at the ix35, it seems to me that there were no less of them, designers. Moreover, they worked separately, and the appearance was eventually “generated” by a megacomputer. I rustle my pencil on paper, but I can't reproduce anything that reflects the appearance of the car. I didn't remember.

And the “iha” chassis seemed to be tuned by competitors. He does everything by force. I press on the gas, and in response - silence. I give a kick pedal - and immediately jump. In a good way, Hyundai does not understand. And in the corners, it seems to increase in size - a similar feeling you experience, say, driving a Chevrolet Tahoe. And although my colleagues, who are sporty in spirit, assure that the ix35 holds on to the arc as if it were life, I still preferred to roll turns in an undertone. Moreover, this crossover clearly likes to slow down more than accelerate: the discs literally get stuck in the pads!

But the suspension was even more impressive: with such characteristics, it seems that the entire mass of the car is unsprung. On pits, joints and small cracks, Hyundai keeps cold. On the way from the dacha, he even talked to his mother's fighting cats, which no car was able to muffle. After such pitching, I myself was ready to meow.

I counted two pluses: a trunk for a million zucchini and a high seating position, comfortable for crushing in traffic jams. The price of this wealth is not even interesting to me.

Sergey Znaemsky

The name ix35 seems to have escaped from a math book. What does it mean? This is definitely not a formula of love - rather an expression for calculating some practically important value. It is also difficult for me to pick up bright epithets for a family crossover - it is best described by utility functions and budget constraints. But no matter how much I substitute myself for the variable x, which means the owner, I cannot get the true equality of goals and means.

If I am a unit, a lonely city dweller, then the choice of ix35 is definitely from the realm of irrational decisions. Let Hyundai now be almost European - with exemplary ergonomics, a firmly learned steering feel and good handling. But for a million rubles there are a lot of other cars, no less suitable for driving on asphalt.

Two months ago, I would have put an end to this. But since then he has become a little wiser - for four thousand kilometers of the Moscow-Simferopol-Moscow route. A road trip with suitcases, tents and bicycles on the roof is almost mathematical proof that outside the Moscow Ring Road the spark of drive in the formula of an ideal car can be successfully replaced by high ground clearance, a large trunk and a spacious rear sofa. I got sympathy for roomy crossovers!

But Hyundai ix35… No spark, no sofa. You can still put up with the sad union of a two-liter engine and an “automatic” in an empty car, but substitute five family members with luggage instead of X - and Hyundai, it seems, will not even enter the Riga overpass. It's not just crowded behind my back - it's inhuman there because of the hard pads on the backs of the seats. And the dense European suspension on potholes is either about to break me, or it itself will crumble into components.

For ix35, you can find other meanings. Hyundai will attract someone with cool design or luxurious equipment. A rear view camera, a touch monitor and connectors for connecting anything for an additional fee of 60-70 thousand rubles are very exciting arithmetic.

But in my current coordinate system, only the consumer indifference curve corresponds to the ix35 formula.

Yuri Vetrov

I heard right, one million one hundred sixty-eight thousand? Are you saying that Hyundai and Volkswagen cost the same now? Richer equipment? Rearview camera, heated rear seat, steering wheel keyboard and USB media? This makes me happy. But only on condition that the ix35 is as comfortable as the Tiguan and drives just as well!

Convenient? Partly. The head restraint that makes me bend into a respectful half bow is designed not for people, but for BioRID dummies and a good EuroNCAP rating for neck protection in a rear impact. Passengers, on the other hand, have to put up with uncomfortable armrests and a bulging back of the rear sofa, which is also not adjustable in tilt angle. Compromising between passenger and luggage capacity by moving the rear seat is also unattainable.

And in driving Hyundai is by no means better than Volkswagen. Especially when it comes to acceleration dynamics: 13 seconds to a hundred, according to our measurements, against nine and a half for a 170-horsepower Tiguan. I do not argue that the Koreans have tuned the chassis well: the ix35 is excellent on a high-speed “autobahn” arc, and the Korean steering wheel with “electric relief” pleases with an effort close to natural. But at what cost has this been achieved? It seems that the suspension has been stiffened without fuss: Tiguan is much more tolerant of the ulcers of Russian roads.

The ix35 is not worth the money they ask for the Tiguan and CR-V. Five year warranty? Re-read the long list of limitations and caveats - and you will understand that an honest two-year warranty for Volkswagen, and even more so for a three-year Honda, is much more profitable. But the fantastic 184 hp diesel engine does not allow me to cross out the Hyundai ix35 from the list of potentially interesting cars. Neither Tiguan nor other Kugs with Yetis have this in Russia. Even the platform Kia Sportage does not have it.

I fell in love at first sight. By the light of night lights - nothing to do with either a shopping bag or a lightweight armored personnel carrier. How much good energy can this car give me!

But the first impressions behind the wheel were gloomy. At first it dawned on me that I was driving with the door ajar, then, during acceleration, the obsessive noise of the engine began to strain - and, finally, recounting all the bumps of poor-quality asphalt. Where is the clock here?

The fitting day, thanks to the Muslim holiday and the traffic jams that blocked Moscow, turned out to be long. And I found the clock: I turned on the radio - and saw them on the monitor. And late in the evening she rejoiced at the magical inner light, similar to the radiance of distant stars on a frosty night. Moreover, the radiance is adjustable - from barely noticeable to intense lilac-blue. Great tool for setting the mood!

After that, I no longer tormented the engine for acceleration, enjoying how stable the car was at high speed and how gentle on a good, smooth highway. And on broken roads, I tried to drive as slowly as possible - so as not to be angry either with myself or with the car. You roll yourself - and once again you are convinced that life is beautiful.

Have I thought about this purchase? Why not? After all, it is very important to look spectacular every day, and this also applies to the car you drive.

Once upon a time, for the traditional work-home-dacha route, I betrothed my friends a simple and practical Hyundai Tucson - without disappointing, it has been serving them for the fourth year. And what to answer the question about his successor?

Yes, there is no trace of the former emptiness and facelessness of the cabin, and another supercar will envy the “alien” steering wheel. But is it worth the third overpayment?

The familiar country road, which Tucson barely notices, shook the soul out of me, but I don’t want to think about off-road with symbolic suspension moves and a slow imitation of differential locks. And last but not least, I will advise someone ix35 with a gasoline engine and an “automatic”: this couple will fit only for crawling through traffic jams. And free roads will require you to put up with either calm right lanes, or with fuel consumption of 15 liters per hundred - this is if you don’t give a damn about the Eco mode and your own ears, trampling the gas pedal from the heart. And on the track with a “dacha” load and household members in the cabin, it’s sad even in the most fun manual mode of the box.

But my friends, I feel, fell for "theirs" extraordinary appearance. I, having visited Korea, was convinced that my taste is radically different from Korean - at least in terms of female beauty, cars and fashion. IX (by the way, it is still called Tucson at home) is harmonious against the backdrop of acid-bright signs of colorful Seoul and probably won prizes at local auto design competitions. But the excess of curved lines and bulges only amused me. Turned away and forgot.

Fashionable, bright and very energetic. And the actual white color, although I managed to get bored with it over the summer, suits him. Although, I think it will be good in rich colors. I really liked the taillights - like water drops flattened from speed. And in general, the movement here is reflected in every line. Even when the car is at a standstill, it feels like a swift, almost sporty pressure, and it attracts.

The salon is strict, simple, but thought out: everything is at hand, and the materials are not bad. And so I was sincerely surprised: how can the driver's door not close the first time in such a car? Or such a strange trifle: a special bulge, designed to make it easier to open the mirror on the sun visor, is made of such an unpleasant, “sharp” material that you will think ten times when you want to admire yourself. There is no place for all sorts of things in the drawer between the seats, but the side pockets in the doors are simply huge - you can turn around with your belongings in full. I was amused by the instrument panel, which looks like two big eyes looking at you attentively - it seems that the car is alive.

And a car would be good for everyone, but I categorically did not like how it rides - weakly and sluggishly. Complete indifference to the commands of the right leg does not fit in with the taut muscular silhouette. The machine does not raise the mood, does not infect with excitement. It's a pity, because outwardly the car turned out to be really interesting and bright.

There is some imperfection in the look. It was as if the designer hovered around the plasticine model for a long time, experimented with planes and chamfers, and then went to look for inspiration in the nearest bar, but never returned. And the interior designers brought their work to the end. The controls are arranged logically, the indication is clear, nothing irritates the eye, and sometimes even pleases: for example, the instrument cluster is just a pearl! Just do not drum your fingers on the plastic, because the plastic sound lubricates the impression.

I was surprised to find that with my non-heroic growth there are problems with visibility. In order to see the instruments well, I had to raise the steering wheel as much as possible and lower the chair to the limit, but I could not defeat the myopia of the rear window - only those cars that came close to your rear bumper can be seen through its embrasure. Navigation? Bluetooth? But the electronic navigator does not speak Russian and does not understand Cyrillic. And the "blue tooth", reading contacts from the phone's address book, does not recognize them when there is an incoming call. I see no point in paying for these flawed options.

In dense city traffic and when driving at a low average speed, I liked the “automatic” gasoline ix35: it accelerates obediently, brakes no less obediently and is “transparently” controlled. But as soon as three passengers were put into the car, all the positive began to disappear before our eyes. When the engine is spinning up, it becomes so noisy in the cabin that the question involuntarily arises: how did this car pass the certification tests? The motor is sorely lacking in traction, and the gearbox is quick: it happened that she continued to sleep even in kick-down mode. On country roads, plastic panels creak, those sitting behind complain about the smoothness of the ride, and the body twists so hard that the windshield cracked on one of the bumps. And what happens if a loaded car is hung diagonally? I don't want to fantasize about this. On the topic of shopping, too.

Oleg Rastegaev

At the beginning of the year, Hyundai Tucson utilitarian crossovers were sold like hot cakes: a two-liter car with an “automatic” - and for only 750 thousand rubles! And suddenly - bam! - the pies were over, and croissants were brought in instead - with essentially the same two-liter engines and new "automatic machines", but already at 980 thousand rubles! The queue quickly dispersed. And if I was standing in it, I would also leave without a purchase.

Firstly, I do not like obsessive Asian motives in appearance. But more upset driving habits. There was a suspicion that they were cheating me, talking about 150 forces under the hood and 11.3 seconds of acceleration to hundreds. Pushing the accelerator pedal to the floor, I hardly overtake Lada Priora. Even a quiet ride in city traffic is annoying: let off the gas - the engine immediately relaxes to 1500 rpm. Then you choose half the pedal travel, but there is no reaction. Disabling the Eco mode (it works by default) slightly invigorates the motor, but does not completely remove problems with dynamics control. This makes a 184-horsepower diesel engine (AR No. 9, 2010), but with it, the Hyundai ix35 costs absolutely indecent money for a Korean crossover.

The second problem: the level of comfort does not live up to expectations. The suspension finds defects even on a flat road - the body constantly trembles. There are no hard blows, but the trembling is enough. As well as the hum of the motor - after 3500 rpm, only it is heard during acceleration.

What did you like? There are no major problems with brakes and handling. I even vouchsafed to recklessly go through a bunch of turns. Control responses are stable, the steering wheel is moderately informative. But traction is still not enough. And without her, dear, what is the excitement?

No, no, if you think you have the right to sell Hyundai ix35 at the price of cars like Volkswagen Tiguan or Honda CR-V, then please, provide me with the same level of driving properties. I don’t have enough pretty instruments, a little saturated with additional equipment of the center console. I need a strong, technically perfect "backbone", on which all this tinsel is hung.

I am ready to prefer croissants to pies, but at least they should be well baked.

Alexander Divakov

Like. The appearance is expressive, and the interior is neither frivolous nor cloudy.

Driving is comfortable. The range of seat and steering wheel adjustments was enough, the soft chair fit in shape and connected well with the car. Just right and the steering wheel, and other controls. Pleasing to the eye and the original, but quite informative instrument panel.

Satisfies and forward visibility. In order not to spoil it, the rear-view mirror is raised very high, but as a result, distant objects were inaccessible in the aperture of the rear window, squeezed in height. Yes, and the exterior mirrors are too small - especially for the city.

Leaving on a swift avenue, I easily fit into the stream. But a very “soft” “machine” blunts, if necessary, to accelerate again. You adapt to this - especially since he does not make unpredictable switches. It is more difficult to get used to how sometimes the engine screams sharply and unpleasantly.

I find in the menu and turn off the Eco mode. Shifts become slightly faster, although they are less smooth. But the feeling of "following the pedal" becomes even more pleasant. Especially in manual mode, which, by the way, excludes down transitions in response to kick-down, but goes up if the engine speed has reached the limiter.

In the city I do not have enough steering sensitivity. But, picking up speed on the highway, I felt calm in driving. On a straight line, the car stands confidently, the reactions are soft and accurate, there is enough feedback. It enters turns willingly, just stands on an arc. In tense turns under the release of gas, the car wants to slip into a skid, but a strict stability control system instantly stops outrages. And when driving around a sudden obstacle, the system “leads” the car, preventing it from slipping, but somewhat preventing it from changing the trajectory sharply.

Ride is acceptable, but the suspension still transmits a bit too much jolt in short waves and hard bumps.

Liked the car.

Ivan Shadrichev

It feels like they took a Ford Kuga - and moderately creatively adjusted the appearance to match the corporate identity that is beginning to appear and become recognizable. And driving habits miraculously came into line with the appearance - this swollen carcass moves with laziness ...

In order to somehow cheer up the car, you have to control the gears yourself, because in the automatic "drive" of traction at the right time you will not wait. The loud noise of the engine at high speeds, which is a sharp contrast to the silence with measured rolling, does not cheer up.

In corners, the car, although it rolls noticeably, is still not up to the driver falling from his seat. The reactions to steering turns are quite sharp, it’s even pleasant to steer at small angles, but as the deflection of the steering wheel increases, I notice that there is no adequate increase in effort on it. Demolition under thrust is too big, and the car is in no hurry to dodge in response to gas discharge. Perhaps you should not indulge in disabling the stabilization system.

Suspension at low speeds gives riders hard shocks, but sways the car on the waves. In a word, for every passenger's taste - some will shake, others will be swayed. Salvation one - to increase speed!

With its growth, potholes go smoother, it’s a pity that this benefit is not always combined with the Rules of the Road.

It's nice that you can ride on country roads with a good move without fear of suspension breakdowns. But one should not get carried away conquering serious off-road - diagonal hanging on the terrain stops the forward movement: neither the Lock mode, nor the electronics that brake the wheels with a crunch help. The tires are asphalt, they do not want to grip the ground. But they dig into the sand in an instant, you need to be on the alert.

However, I did not expect outstanding cross-country ability: I think that few of them will be registered in the village - the existing one is enough to conquer the city by the eye.

Here comfort is not enough, it is desirable to adjust the traction control better, and so that the steering wheel is “more transparent”. In the meantime, I do not see for myself an affirmative answer to the question - do I need such a Hyundai?

So, I went through the next TO-45000 and decided to write another story.

MOT cost the "standard" 10t.rub. As usual, the service offered additional services, such as those offered last time. In addition, they offered to change the brake pads. Like, the mileage is high, it's time to change. But they did not look at the pads themselves. They turned out to be in excellent condition, which I can’t say about the brake discs ... The protrusion along the edge turned out to be large. I would rather change pads frequently than discs. It turned out that the handbrake is not automatically adjusted in any way. A strange manual adjustment procedure worth 1,500 rubles ...

By the car itself. On the driver and passenger doors, just below the glazing, I found two swellings of paint. There were definitely no chips there (although the chips themselves do not rust). I found a cobweb of open rust on the inside of the trunk lid, in the area of \u200b\u200bthe castle, on a welded point, exactly where the seal lies. I will claim under warranty.

Strengths:

  • At this price, I don't see any merit. In Germany, for example, cars of this brand are 30% cheaper. Therefore, despite the high fuel consumption, they are bought there. But only

Weak sides:

  • Not a very successful model, in general, in comparison with the same jerboa

Review Hyundai ix35 2.0 4WD (Hyundai AiX 35) 2013 Part 2

Hi all.

Continuation of the review.

Yesterday, 12/12/2013, TO-15000 passed. It cost 8500 rubles (7300 rubles base price) with a 10% discount with the replacement of the air filter (optional), which, for some reason, is supposed to be replaced every 45,000 km. At the service station, I was offered (for money, of course) the following services:

Hi all.

For a long time I tried to find a spoonful of honey so that the review was complete ... But, only negative ... So, in order.

At the moment, the mileage of the car is about 66,000 km. At 60,000 km, as expected, another MOT was completed at the OD and cost almost 20,000 rubles. In addition to the regulations, the windshield wiper blades (approximately 1400 each) were replaced. It turned out that these brushes are able to perform their function for about a month. Then they begin to smear and skip ... Definitely you should not buy original wipers. The usual frame.osh from @shan for 160 rubles per brush lasts at least a season. And it does not smear dirt and does not leave gaps on the glass ...

Review Hyundai ix35 2.0 4WD (Hyundai AiX 35) 2013 Part 3

Hi all.

That ran 30,000km in less than a year. Since my last review, I have not changed my attitude to the car - I would not buy this car for myself. Well, or not for that kind of money ... Now more ...

Recently passed TO-30000. It cost 9 thousand. rub. I always change the air filter, even if not according to the regulations. Again they offered. services in the form of wheel alignment, but only in order to “stir up” the bolts in the suspension “otherwise they will turn sour”. ... After MOT, it seems like the car went better ... But the sound of the engine became louder. Now, at XX, the sound is like not from a foreign car for more than lam ...

Review Hyundai ix35 2.0i CVVT 4WD (Hyundai AiX 35) 2010

Auto faster for the city. Beautiful, dynamic, quiet and comfortable. Satisfies all my needs. Fishing trip or road - please. Of course, without fanaticism. Chassis, although it rattles in a factory way, but with music it is tolerable. Plenty of space in the trunk too.

As for me, very easy to manage: brakes, steering wheel. You have to get used to the automatic transmission and gas, albeit not for long. Although not top, there are many useful options: heating everything, usb, bluetooth, etc. Halogen shines quite well.

The downside is their MONDO stances and back row seating when the car is dirty due to its aerodynamics. “Design features, what is “Knocking from the front? — Anther and bump stop. Knock from behind!” — on cars 2009-11 change racks to improved under warranty.

Pseudo SUVs have taken a huge step forward over the past few years. Clumsiness and a minimum of comfort are a thing of the past. Currently, these are ordinary cars with a rich set of features, a decent level of comfort and quality. One of the popular representatives of this group is Hyundai ix35.

Design features

Hyundai Aix 35 first appeared on the market in March 2010 with a 2-liter gasoline engine and a 2.0 CRDi diesel in two power options. Later, the engine range was replenished with 1.7 CRDi and 1.6 GDI petrol with direct fuel injection. Towards the end, the 2-liter gasoline aspirated also got a version with direct injection. In Russia, only cars with 2-liter engines were officially sold.

As befits a modern crossover, the ix 35 has a self-supporting body made of sheet metal of various thicknesses and strengths. The body structure provides high torsional rigidity and adequate crash protection - 5 stars according to EuroNCAP.

If you're looking for a crossover, you're probably looking for a high driving position and at least basic skills in the field. ix35 guarantees it all. It provides good visibility, including to the rear, despite the complex profile of the rear windows. Invaluable help and large mirrors that allow you to see everything you need. However, parking sensors do not interfere here.

The interior of Aix 35 with caring owners will not grow old quickly. You don't have to worry about practicality. Inside there is enough space for passengers and luggage. The ergonomics are nice and the instrument panel is simple and easy to read. Only too intense blue backlight confuses.

A slight disappointment is the dynamics of the petrol Hyundai ix35. The atmospheric engine seems dull and lifeless, especially in the presence of an automatic and all-wheel drive system. At the same time, the average fuel consumption does not fall below 9 liters, and in the city it can reach 15-16 l / 100 km.

The wiser will turn their attention to the 2-liter turbodiesel. It provides good dynamics and operational reliability. In addition, 2.0 CRDi is quite economical - about 8 liters per 100 km. The front-wheel drive version with 1.7 CRDi is content with 7 liters.

On the run

In this segment, it is difficult to find a car that successfully combines comfort and handling. None of this went to Hyundai. Aix 35 is driven boringly, the steering is uninformative, and the car reacts differently to steering movements each time.

All-wheel independent suspension uses anti-roll bars on the front and rear axles. Chassis settings are neither comfortable nor sporty. Rather, the suspension is just stiff. It looks like the front is from one car and the back is from another. On transverse bumps, the ix 35 bounces unpleasantly. All this is exacerbated by the resonant wave rolling over the car on potholes: the suspension rattles, the plastic creaks and the seats vibrate. Rigid settings shorten the life of the suspension elements. However, after restyling in September 2013, Hyundai became a little more comfortable.

Under normal conditions, the Hyundai Aiks35 is front-wheel drive, but if necessary, the rear axle is connected quite quickly (if AWD is available). The stabilization and traction control system works unobtrusively.

Typical problems and malfunctions

Probably, many will be surprised to hear that Hyundai is a fairly reliable car. ix35 engines are durable and hardy, subject to regular and high-quality maintenance. In the case of Aix35, prevention costs more than the possible costs of an unlikely repair.

Do not cause problems and engines such as GDI. However, in this unit, after 100,000 km, soot appears on the valves. The problem is especially acute in cars operated in the city in the gas-brake mode.

It is worth being careful with instances converted to run on gas. In GDI versions, the efficiency of HBO is low. And after 50,000 km, burnout of valve seats is possible and, as a result, expensive head repairs.

Both 1.7 CRDi and 2.0 CRDi demonstrate exemplary reliability. The 2-liter diesel has a large margin of safety, especially since it does not run “at full throttle” as often as the 1.7 CRDi. A turbocharger (from 68,000 rubles) and fuel injectors (from 15,000 rubles) usually serve more than 200-250 thousand km. At the same time, the resource of the clutch (from 13,000 rubles) and the dual-mass flywheel (from 56,000 rubles) cannot be called exemplary.

The lack of traction and twitching of the diesel engine appear when the pre-filter located in the fuel tank is clogged. It can clog after 30-60 thousand km.

Most often, the Hyundai Aix 35 makes it run into chassis malfunctions. Strange noises and knocks are often caused by loose plastic inside the wheel arches, other plastic elements, or even a freely moving jack. However, stabilizer struts can also knock (from 700 rubles).

Relatively often you have to change shock absorbers: front - from 4,000 rubles, rear - from 1,700 rubles. And the rear wheel bearings (from 3,000 rubles) sometimes begin to buzz without leaving even the first 100,000 km. By this time, play may also appear in the axle shafts (from 8,000 rubles). In general, after 100,000 km, the suspension begins to require repair more and more often. Bad roads significantly accelerate the wear of the chassis.

A common phenomenon is a knock in the area of \u200b\u200bthe steering rack. It was not uncommon for authorized service stations to change the rail under warranty. The cost of a new original is about 48,000 rubles, restored - from 20,000 rubles.

When inspecting, do not forget to pay attention to noise and vibration in the cardan area. To check the performance of the center clutch, you should install the front wheels on snow, grass or gravel and try to accelerate sharply. The most expensive malfunction is cutting the splines of the transfer case-box connection. The cost of repair - from 45,000 rubles.

Problems with all-wheel drive can occur due to the composite right drive shaft. The cost of the original is about 29,000 rubles, the analogue is from 8,000 rubles.

It is also necessary to inspect the functionality of the electronics. Not that she regularly refused, but extra caution would not hurt.

It is worth noting such a common phenomenon as the noise of a manual transmission. Often, it can be eliminated with a simple oil change. The machine requires updating the working fluid every 60,000 km or every three years. However, both gearboxes are very reliable.

Among the minor shortcomings, one can note malfunctions in the operation of the head unit of the audio system, rapid wear of the upholstery of the seats and its filler, and the appearance of scuffs on the plastic. The manufacturer regularly held promotions to replace airbags and belt tensioners. Luckily, the ix35 has no corrosion issues.

Conclusion

The decision to buy a Hyundai ix35 should be purely rational. Its engines and gearboxes are very durable, and the operating and maintenance costs are reasonable. True, the suspension and real fuel consumption are not the strengths of the Korean SUV. Prices for the Korean crossover will start around 670,000 rubles.
