Description of CHEVROLET BLAZER. Chevrolet Blazer II - description of the Chevrolet Blazer model specifications

23.06.2020

The Chevrolet Blazer mid-size SUV (which replaced the compact S-10 Blazer in the model range of the American machine builder) debuted in 1995 - compared to its predecessor, it significantly changed in terms of design, increased in size and received new equipment, but at the same time remained practically unchanged in technical terms. (unless he just “armed himself” with modernized motors).

It is noteworthy that in Russia it was presented in a slightly different design than in the US and Europe.

In 1998, the car underwent a planned update, as a result of which it acquired a slightly tweaked exterior and interior design, as well as an adjusted range of power units, after which it was mass-produced until 2005 (however, in Brazil it was produced until 2011).

Outside, the Chevrolet Blazer shows a very attractive, balanced and concise outline, and with its small dimensions it looks like a full-fledged SUV.

A solid front end with neat lighting equipment and a relief bumper, a brutal silhouette with flat sides, rounded-square wheel arches and a darkened rear roof pillar, an unpretentious rear with compact lights and a large trunk lid - the exterior of the SUV does not shine with design frills, but there is no rejection either. calls.

This is a mid-size rogue with a three- or five-door body, which is 4639-4724 mm long, 1834 mm wide and 1689-1709 mm high. The distance between the wheels of the front and rear axles is 2553-2718 mm for the car, and its ground clearance is 200 mm.

The curb weight of the "American" varies from 1629 to 1915 kg, depending on the modification.

The interior of the Chevrolet Blazer looks simple, but functional - a large four-spoke steering wheel with a flat rim, a concise and informative instrument cluster with analog dials and control lamps, a center console deployed towards the driver, carrying a radio, three climate controls and auxiliary functions buttons.

Inside the car, solid, but inexpensive finishing materials are used, and the build quality is at a good level.

The "apartment" of the mid-size SUV is designed to accommodate the driver and four of his companions, and a sufficient supply of free space is provided on both rows of seats. Amorphous chairs with weak lateral support and wide adjustment intervals are installed in the front of the cabin, and a comfortable sofa with soft filler is installed in the back.

In normal condition, the Chevrolet Blazer trunk can hold from 855 to 1056 liters, depending on the number of doors, and with the second row of seats folded down, from 1849 to 2098 liters. A full-fledged spare wheel is suspended from the car on the street (under the bottom).

A wide range of power plants is offered for the Chevrolet Blazer:

  • The gasoline palette consists of in-line four-cylinder and V-shaped six-cylinder naturally aspirated engines with a working volume of 2.2-4.3 liters with a distributed "power" system and variable valve timing, which develop 106-200 horsepower and 195-353 Nm of torque.
  • One diesel engine is provided for the SUV - this is a 2.8-liter "four" with an in-line layout, turbocharging, Common Rail direct injection and a 16-valve timing structure, producing 140 hp. and 339 Nm of torque potential.

The engines are mated with a 5-speed "mechanics" or a 4-band "automatic", rear axle drive wheels or an all-wheel drive transmission with a hard-start front axle, a "razdatka" and a reduction gear.

"Blazer" is based on a spar steel frame, on which the power unit is placed longitudinally and other components are mounted. The front axle of the SUV is suspended by an independent suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers, anti-roll bar and coil springs, and the rear axle is suspended using a dependent design with leaf springs.

The car is equipped with a steering gear of a "worm" configuration, in which the power steering is integrated. Disc brakes are used on the front wheels of the "American", and drum or disc brakes on the rear wheels, depending on the modification (already in the "base" - with ABS).

In the Russian market of used cars, the “first” Chevrolet Blazer in 2018 can be purchased at a price of ~ 100 thousand rubles.

In the initial configuration, the SUV boasts: front airbags, alloy wheels, ABS, a radio with a CD player, an anti-theft system, automatic headlight range control and other equipment.

The Blazer name first appeared in 1969, when the Americans began making the K-series Blazer car.

Interestingly, in the 80s, Chevrolet produced two different Blazers at once. One of them was introduced in 1982 and was called the Blazer S10. This car is based on the Chevrolet S10 pickup truck. Such a car for a long time was produced only in a 3-door version. This was done to separate the S10 from the larger C/K series 5-door Blazer (the latter model grew into the Chevrolet Tahoe in the mid-90s). Chevrolet Blazer S10 was equipped with engines of 2.5, 2.8 and 4.3 liters.

In 1991, the Blazer S10 was restyled. A 5-door modification appeared, and only a 4.3-liter engine (160 hp or 200 hp, depending on the modification) was installed under the hood. In 1993, the name of the SUV was slightly shortened - the car became known as the Blazer S. And in 1994, when a new generation of the model was introduced, it was decided to remove the letter “S” as well. This is how the Chevrolet Blazer was born. This Blazer was produced with 3- and 5-door bodies and a 4.3 liter engine. 193 hp

And in the next 1995, another Chevrolet Blazer was born, which was intended for the South American market (it was made in Brazil). Such a car had a slightly different appearance and other power units: 2.2-liter gasoline engines. (113 hp) and 4.3 liters. (179 hp), as well as a 2.5-liter diesel engine (95 hp).

In our market, cars are found in both American and Brazilian assembly.

Cars targeted at the US market can be distinguished by a more aggressive grille and a powerful 4.3-liter engine (193 hp). This, by the way, is the largest V6 engine in terms of volume. Equally important is the fact that the power unit has an impressive torque of 338 Nm., which develop already at 2800 rpm. According to passport data, the car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 10.1 seconds, and the maximum speed is 180 km/h.

The appearance of South American SUVs is slightly different, and they were equipped with 2.2-liter engines with 106 hp. or 4.3 liter with 179 hp. In addition, cars with such a power unit had rear-wheel drive, so they can be called SUVs with a big stretch.

It was them that began to be assembled in the period from 1996 to 1999 at a plant in Yelabuga in Tatarstan. From the factories of General Motors do Brasil came car kits, which were almost finished cars, only without bumpers, lighting, exterior mirrors, seats and other trifles. These parts, neatly packed, lay in the cabin. Only rubber mats and jacks were Russian. This project ended rather ingloriously - after the financial crisis of 1998, Brazilian-Tatar Chevrolets were poorly bought, despite very attractive prices.

Corrosion on the second generation Blazer is quite rare. At the heart of the car is a powerful frame that can serve for a long time.

Interior design is made in a typical American style. The interior does not boast of designer frills, but everything is done simply and clearly. A significant part of American Blazers have leather trim.

In standard situations, the trunk volume is decent, and if you fold the rear seat (completely or in parts), you can get a whole cargo area at all - in the five-door version 2.1 m³. In addition, there are four metal eyelets in the floor, with which you can easily secure any large load. There is enough space in the back seat. The SUV has good sound insulation and a decent ride.

The complete set of American Blazers is rich. Cars have electric windows and mirrors, and often seats are also adjusted using buttons.

All-wheel drive modifications of the Chevrolet Blazer behave well on the roads, because the model has a high ground clearance and a lower range of gears.

In 2001, a new SUV was introduced in the US to replace the Blazer. True, it was called differently - TrialBlazer.

The Grand Cherokee is considered a 1998 American off-road Chevrolet Blazer. Among Russian motorists, the Chevrolet Blazer has gained popularity due to the line of powerful engines, rich equipment and good dynamism. Since you can only buy an SUV in the secondary market, it is advisable to check the authenticity of the numbers of all components and assemblies and the technical condition of the model before buying.

Chevrolet Blazer Features

The predecessor of the Blazer was the S10, which went through several restylings and was eventually replaced by a full-fledged comfortable off-road, radically different from the previous model.

Chevrolet Blazer 1998 was offered in three- and five-door versions of the body, and only five-door modifications of the car were supplied to the Russian market. Versions of the Blazer with a shortened base are extremely difficult to meet. The body structure is based on a durable spar frame with corrosion resistance. The ground clearance of the SUV - 20 centimeters - allows you to overcome the bumps in the road.

The owners of the Chevrolet Blazer 1998 in the reviews note the practicality of the car. Some motorists complain about the lack of a third row of seats in the cabin and the relatively small volume of the luggage compartment.

The rich equipment of the Chevrolet Blazer pleasantly surprises: a leather interior is available even in the basic modification. The car is equipped with a large number of servos, the performance of which is desirable to check before purchasing an SUV.

Specifications Chevrolet Blazer 1998:

  • Body length - 4639 millimeters.
  • Width - 1736 millimeters.
  • Height - 1689 millimeters.
  • Wheelbase - 2718 millimeters.
  • Ground clearance - 200 millimeters.
  • Curb / gross weight - 1915/2427 kilograms.
  • Four-wheel drive.
  • Five-speed manual or automatic transmission.
  • The maximum developed speed is 190 km / h.
  • Fuel consumption - 10.5-19.1 liters;
  • Disc brake system.

Engine range

The range of power units, unfortunately, is not particularly rich: the automaker offered the Chevrolet Blazer 1998 4.3 with the Vortecc 4300 V6 engine. The working resource of the engine, created on the basis of a V8 with a volume of 5.7 liters, is more than 500 thousand kilometers after a major overhaul. The dynamics of acceleration to 100 km / h is 10 seconds, which is quite good for an SUV.

The owners of the Chevrolet Blazer 1998 2.2 in the reviews note that the SUV engine is not subject to serious damage: in general, there may be problems with the EGRR exhaust gas recirculation system, which is reflected in the unstable operation of the engine. Similar problems are typical for SUVs with high mileage.

The working life of the fuel pump is 60-80 thousand kilometers, after which it is desirable to replace it. The fuel pressure regulator also has a short service life and requires regular diagnostics and replacement if necessary.

In a quiet driving mode, the fuel consumption of the Chevrolet Blazer 1998, equipped with a 4.3-liter engine, is 17-20 liters, and lovers of high-speed trips will have to prepare mentally at 30 liters for every hundred of the way.

Transmission

All versions of the Chevrolet Blazer 1998 2.2, presented on the Russian market, are equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission. The 4L60-E automatic transmission is considered the most popular and is characterized by unpretentious maintenance and a long service life. Serious investments in the transmission with regular oil changes are not required: the first 200 thousand kilometers the box works perfectly. It is worth noting that the replacement of transmission oil is required quite often - every 25-30 thousand kilometers, which, however, has a positive effect on the general condition of the gearbox.

As an additional option, a five-speed manual transmission was installed on the Chevrolet Blazer 1998, which was very unusual for an American SUV and affected the number of modifications with this type of gearbox - it is almost impossible to meet them on the Russian market. The only drawback of such a transmission is the leakage of oil seals after 200 thousand kilometers.

Drive unit

The 1998 Chevrolet Blazer, like all SUVs, is equipped with all-wheel drive and an InstaTracc transfer case with a low range of gears, which does not cause any special problems, unlike its control mechanism. Switching the transfer case is not carried out manually, but by an electronic system. The control keys are located on the dashboard of the car. There are three modes of operation: 2Hi full drive, 4Hi all-wheel drive and 4Lo low-speed all-wheel drive, which greatly simplifies and facilitates driving. However, it is worth considering that in the event of failure of the electronic connection mechanism, you will have to change it completely, which will cost a large amount, therefore, when buying a Chevrolet Blazer, it is advisable to carefully check the condition and performance of the front axle. The SUV is also equipped with an automatic rear axle differential lock. Similar technical characteristics of the Chevrolet Blazer 1998 provide the SUV with a high level of cross-country ability, which is especially noticeable on three-door modifications of the car.

Chassis

Chassis Chevrolet Blazer combines high-speed and off-road performance. A torsion bar suspension of an independent type is installed at the front, and a continuous spring suspension at the rear. After 120-150 thousand kilometers, the rear shock absorbers need to be replaced. The front suspension, unlike the rear, requires regular diagnostics and competent maintenance: every 5-7 thousand kilometers it is necessary to lubricate the ball bearings in order to increase their working life. With proper operation, their operational life is 100 thousand kilometers. The service life of silent blocks is not inferior: at least 150-200 thousand kilometers.

Steering and braking system Chevrolet Blazer 1998

The rack and pinion steering mechanism cannot boast of its characteristics, since it does not have the proper level of reliability and quickly fails, especially in the conditions of Russian roads: the bearings are the first to fail.

Installed as an option, the ABS system can be a source of problems. Owners of pre-1996 Chevrolet Blazers often encounter E-hydraulic unit malfunctions, which are resolved by replacing the pump relay. On the "younger" modifications of the SUV, to fix the problem, you will have to change the entire unit.

Complete set

The equipment of the American SUV Chevrolet Blazer 1998 cannot be called meager. Rich equipment includes automatic drive of windows and mirrors and seats with a wide range of settings. The 1998 facelift added several options - headlight washers, climate control, an Auto4WD transfer case electronic control system, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. The owners of the SUV highly appreciate the proposed vehicle equipment and note the serviceability and excellent operation of all systems. The main problems are associated, as a rule, with the age of the model: often the wiring responsible for adjusting the driver's seat rots. When buying a Chevrolet Blazer, it is advisable to check the alarm key: in the event of a malfunction, you will have to completely change the entire switch block. Repair work will cost approximately 8-10 thousand rubles, including the cost of spare parts.

The owners of the SUV indicate the need for periodic replacement of the engine of the heating system, which costs 5-7 thousand rubles. Despite these refurbishments, the Blazer's heating system is excellent, warming up the cabin quickly and evenly in the coldest ambient temperatures, despite its size. Another weak point is the wipers - after prolonged use, they begin to work on their own. The reason for this lies in a special board that needs to be replaced.

History of the SUV

The first modification of the Blazer was officially demonstrated to the global auto community in 1982. The car was created on the basis of the Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, which was presented to the public a year earlier. Blazer S10 was produced for a long time only in a three-door version.

On the platform of a more impressive and powerful pickup truck of the C / K series, another modification of the Chevrolet Blazer was created, which later laid the foundation for the Tahoe lineup.

The first restyling of the Blazer S10 was carried out in 1991: the SUV began to be produced in a five-door version and received a 4.3-liter engine with a capacity of 160 or 200 horsepower, depending on the chosen configuration. In 1993, the car was renamed Blazer S, and in 1994, after the next generation, the SUV received its standard name Chevrolet Blazer.

In 1998, the automaker released a new generation of the car, which was subsequently divided into two separate models. In 2001, the new Trail Blazer SUV was introduced at the US auto show, equipped with an aluminum 4.2-liter V6 engine with 273 horsepower and a 5.3-liter engine with 294 horsepower.

With the exception of the standard version, official dealers offered customers a modification of the EXTT SUV with a wheelbase extended to 3275 mm.

Summary

The 1998 American SUV Chevrolet Blazer compares favorably not only with its main competitors, but also with analogues assembled in Brazil, with an aggressive exterior, rich equipment and high-quality interior trim, one of the most powerful and dynamic 4.3-liter engines and two body versions - three- and five-door. Models of the car assembled in Brazil were equipped mainly with four-cylinder 2.2-liter engines, which lacked power.

The undoubted advantage of the Chevrolet Blazer is its wide distribution in the secondary markets and the so-called "dismantling", which greatly facilitates the search for the necessary components and spare parts, especially body parts. It is worth noting the significantly lower price of components for an American SUV in comparison with competitors.

The Chevrolet Blazer II is a two- or four-door all-wheel drive SUV produced by General Motors from 1995 to 2012. In different periods, the model was assembled at factories in America, Brazil, Venezuela, Indonesia and even in Russia.

Story

The second generation of the SUV was introduced by the American manufacturer in 2005, and mass production began the same year. The new Chevrolet Blazer differed from the previous generation in its increased size and redesigned design. The first batches of cars began to leave factories in Brazil and America.

Later, the geography of production of the second generation model expanded, and at the end of 1996 Blazer II began to be assembled at the plant in Yelabuga in Tatarstan. From the factories of General Motors do Brasil, car kits were delivered, which were almost finished cars, only without bumpers, lights, mirrors, seats and other trifles. These parts, neatly packed, lay in the cabin. At that time, only rubber mats and jacks were Russian. True, two years later, the assembly had to be curtailed: sales of Blazer II of Brazilian-Tatar production were not at a high level, plus the financial crisis in Russia was added to this.

Three years after the launch, the model was updated. The changes affected both the interior and exterior of the car: a new instrument panel, head restraints for rear passengers, and other door handles.

After the model was updated annually: rear-view mirrors, bumpers and dashboard changed. The American manufacturer did not offer significant technical changes.

In 2001, in America, the company showed its new model - which replaced the Blaizer model in the manufacturer's line. However, in Brazil, the production of Blaizer II was carried out for quite a long time - until 2012.

Technical features

The SUV had rich equipment. The basic equipment of the model included electrically adjustable windows and rear-view mirrors, electrically adjustable seats, headlight washers, an automatically dimming interior mirror, an air conditioning system and an all-wheel drive system with the ability to change settings and transmission modes.

The second-generation Chevrolet Blazer SUV was equipped with a single power unit - a 4.3-liter gasoline V-shaped “six”.

The chain-driven V6 engine (the chain lasts for a very long time) is renowned for its reliability, and its design has long been proven on many Chevrolet models. With proper operation, it can withstand more than 500 thousand km.

The trunk volume of the Blazer is very decent, and if you fold the back seat (fully or in parts), you can get a whole cargo area, which will fit up to two cubic meters of cargo. In addition, there are four metal eyelets in the floor, with which you can easily secure large items. There is plenty of space in the back seat as well. The SUV has good sound insulation and a decent ride

Advantages over competitors

Chevrolet Blazer is a "workhorse", a typical American SUV - large and "gluttonous". Its main advantages over competitors (such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee or Ford Explorer) are a huge trunk, excellent corrosion resistance (the body is completely galvanized), a powerful engine and an almost indestructible suspension. In addition, many owners cited the original appearance of the car and the interior, designed in the style of models of the 80s, among the advantages.

In the Indonesian market, the SUV was offered with an "exclusive" 2.2-liter 4-cylinder in-line gasoline engine. Later, production began in Russia with the same engine, but it was soon decided to abandon the low-power engine, replacing it with the main 4.3-liter unit.

One of the meanings of the word blazer in translation from English is “jacket, sports jacket”. There is a version that the creators of this model associated the car with a kind of “clothing”, in which you can both comfortably ride out of town and show off in high society without shame.

In different markets, the model was also called GMC Jimmy and Opel Blazer.

Numbers and awards

In 2005, the SUV was awarded the Truck of the Year title. True, he got such an honor not at all from an automobile publication, but from Playboy magazine.

Production of the model in Russia began shortly before the default in 1998. Naturally, this affected car sales in the most negative way: about 2.5 thousand cars were produced during the year, but by the end of the year almost half of them remained unsold. Between January and May 1999, only 22 Trailblazers were sold in Russia.

Chevrolet Blazer Owner Reviews

Chevrolet Blazer, 1995

My driving experience is almost 15 years, and during all this time I have had different cars, but mostly VAZs. By the time I bought the Chevrolet Blazer, I had long dreamed of an SUV. One employee, then working with me, drove a Blazer. And so I took a closer look at him and realized that this is the car I want to buy. Of course, I didn’t have money for a new one, so I studied offers for used cars on the Internet. Chose, bought - and was satisfied. The car is large, roomy - both interior and trunk. If you want to take a lot of people - please, you need to bring building materials to the dacha - and there is no problem. At the time of buying Chevrolet Blazer, I already had a 3-daughter, and in October 2008 a son was born. For our family, a big car is an important condition, because all the time you need to put something in the trunk - a stroller, a bicycle, numerous things, or all at once, for example, when we go to the country or to the village. Everything fits in my Blazer. I am also very pleased that my car is simply indispensable when traveling out of town - it showed its best side there: to drive along any road - in the forest, across the field, where, of course, an ordinary "passenger car" will not pass. Again, during the recent snowfall in winter, I had no problems - my Chevrolet Blazer will go everywhere. It is very convenient that the all-wheel drive is plug-in - if it is not needed at the moment, I just turn it off and I spend less gasoline. By the way, about gasoline - you can even fill in the 80th, it will go without problems. On the highway, his consumption is somewhere around 13 liters, and in the city 18 liters. In general, I am very pleased with my car, I have been driving for the fourth year, now, however, I decided to change it to a newer one - my wife asks.

Advantages : reliable, safe, large, roomy car. In terms of driving performance, too, everything is excellent.

Flaws : fuel consumption.

Chevrolet Blazer, 1996

Impressions from the operation of the Chevrolet Blazer: 10-14 l / 100 km AI-80, sometimes I add 92 - 5-10%. According to the passport it is written that it works on AI-86, and when loaded, it needs better gasoline. In the USA, gasoline is the 86th unleaded, which I don’t know, but I make a “mix” of 80 and 92 gasoline and there is no difference on the “mix” on the 92nd. Comfort - no bumps. A friend has an Outlander. I gave it a ride - he says that it goes softly. Cruise speed 80-110 km/h. I squeezed 130, then it's a pity and uncomfortable. Visibility, large mirrors. Convenient to park. When buying a Chevrolet Blazer, look at the frame, almost everyone rots. Replacement - 100 thousand rubles. Repair of a box on a Chevrolet Blazer - usually about 90 thousand rubles. After the "lighters" it is immediately difficult to get used to the weight and dimensions. Gotta be more careful. I have had several situations. I hit the brakes and he goes. Once, moving away from a collision, I jumped into a shallow ditch, drove 1 km across virgin soil. Losses - the insert in the bumper burst, almost imperceptibly, did not change. Too bad it rusts. There is no galvanizing in the American assembly. Patency: after rain on "bald" tires on muddy clay and with slides. Passed without fanaticism "with a bang." There is not enough differential lock, at 2.5 tons uphill on wet grass on a lower one it started, but with difficulty. In general, while the choice is satisfied. Definitely for the "passenger car" will not sit down again. For the future, I plan to "Vitara" or "RAV4" with a gun.

Advantages : smooth running. Load capacity. Trunk volume. Consumption. 80th gasoline.

Flaws : corrosion. Difficult access to candles. Spare parts to order. Few specialized services.

Chevrolet Blazer, 1996

Bought Chevrolet Blazer purposefully. It was necessary to meet the funds. Of all the SUVs presented in Russia, it is unrivaled in terms of price and quality. I took the car in a state of disrepair, drove it into the service, paid off about 60-70 thousand rubles, and the days of joy began. I must say right away that the engine was in good condition, but the attachment, suspension and bodywork with the interior were completely neglected. During operation, the Chevrolet Blazer turned out to be reliable and unpretentious, all the troubles were predictable. However, "pitfalls" got out, the joy began to overshadow. As a result, I decided to sell it, I felt sorry for the time and money, then they couldn’t be recaptured from the car, and I wasn’t a fan of the Chevrolet Blazer. Operation: consumption in the city - 18-28 l / 100 km, moreover, 18 is very slow and sad, like a turtle. The track is 12-14 l / 100 km, if you do not spin above 1900 rpm. High center of gravity - corners must be entered carefully. Prices for spare parts are adequate, not cheap and not hard on the pocket. The Chevrolet Blazer's suspension is tough, on a bad road it presses on the ears, on good asphalt, like in a passenger car, the sound insulation is good. Annoying is the lack of pockets in the cabin, they simply do not exist, except for door pockets and a central glove box, oil, keys, basting, etc. hanging around the trunk, along with a first aid kit and a warning triangle. In general, if it weren’t for the “killed” car and a more modest appetite (you can bring the consumption to 16-22 liters in the city, you just need to pour in a lot of money), most likely you wouldn’t sell it. I really liked the interior (leather), comfortable seats, the back row unfolds - it turns out a flat floor in the back, you can easily sleep together. Planting a Chevrolet Blazer in the mud and snow never succeeded, although he did not specifically strive. The engine is a separate song, after it the 2-liter engine is just a "corncob".

Advantages : engine. Patency. Clearance. Noise isolation. Frame. Unpretentious.

Flaws : fuel consumption. High center of gravity. Rear suspension.

Chevrolet Blazer, 1997

From comfort Chevrolet Blazer is, first of all, the engine. Why? Because it is he who allows you to drive on the road in a comfortable mode. Without thinking about whether or not you should overtake or pass - you will not pass. The second is the salon. Quite old, you feel like you are in an antique shop. By the way, I attribute this to the pluses of the car. Comfortable front seats with adjustable waist, electrics (which is not particularly critical) and comfortable ranges, unlike the "Japanese". For me, the cargo area is very important and if we were selling the S-10, I would prefer it. This is an American pickup truck, on the basis of which the Chevrolet Blazer is built. The suspension is hard in places, and in places very imposing. It's not clear what depends on what, but this is an off-road truck, so I resigned myself. The front suspension is like on any Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Torsion bars, four levers. Rear springs. Everything is on rubber bands, so there is no creaking (if you change it on time). Cardan joints on CV joints (did not observe vibration). Even with a broken cross. By the way, I think this is a big minus of foreign cars (and all). The driver almost does not feel the broken knot. And after a couple of years, the whole knot breaks. As a result, the diagnosis of a master locksmith sounds like a sentence. I cannot say with certainty that I am 100% satisfied with the purchase. I do not like to prevaricate. The issue price is quality. Well, somewhere around 40 to 60%. That is, for the money you get a good car. But no more. For potential buyers, connoisseurs of the brand and fans. Buy. They don't make those anymore. The car is not for show off. Business machine.

Advantages : power and torque. Automatic transmission of the old design. Frame. Comfortable front fit. The price tag for spare parts is within acceptable limits. Repairable. A good walker.

Flaws : uncomfortable fit at the back. Long wait for parts and a lot to look for yourself. Doesn't like ruts. Pretty tough for rear passengers.

Chevrolet Blazer, 1998

I will describe my Chevrolet Blazer. In terms of consumption - it all depends on what wheels are on, and of course how to drive (prancing or crawling) the normal consumption is less than on an UAZ. I have 13 liters in the city. Outside the city, less than 11 does not come out, even though the BC says 9 liters, and if you drive on a full drive, then up to 30 liters is possible (the tank is only 68 liters). But on evil or big wheels, no savings. The second is its low frame. Although it is adapted for an easy and quick “body lift”, the stock Chevrolet Blazer is much more passable at times. And, of course, these are torsion bars. Certainly better than springs. But they add a lot of problems if you want to not only increase the distance from the body to the frame and from the arches to the wheels, but to increase the clearance (the distance from the ground to the frame). To be wise is not to be too smart. But in general, who cares. I would say in stock, a machine for high-speed passage of rough terrain. On the highway 120-140. If faster, it starts to drive along the track. But in the fields, in the mountains, it's just super. Gas to the floor and rushed (weave across the field - easy). I didn't even expect the Chevrolet Blazer to cling to the ground like that. You think that's it, the springboard went into the gap, but no. You can't get off the ground. And it doesn’t beat on the bottom, you can’t even test protection. UAZ does not know how. In the end, I’ll say that it’s a great car if you don’t want to make a “mud-mixer” out of it. Very good as is. Well, maybe if it's just a couple of inches.

Advantages : permeability. Cheap spare parts. Very reliable. Thick, durable frame. Cross-country speed, his element. Designed for the body lift. A lot can be "fun" from the domestic auto industry.

Flaws : large displacement engine. Low frame position.

Chevrolet Blazer, 1998

From the positive: a full package in the base - automatic transmission, cruise, leather, heated front seats, a folding rear seat flush with the floor, full power accessories, air conditioning. The classic look of an SUV, especially when I hung up the "kengurin". Frame, really high ground clearance and full bottom protection. Ripe cherry color. The front and rear bumpers of the Chevrolet Blazer are iron. Soft on the go. The salon is huge. There is plenty of room for passengers in the back. Spare parts are inexpensive (however, in advance to order from 3 days). Consumption in the summer - city 16 (riding without complexes - I am a calm family man). It is possible to use 80 gasoline (without fanaticism). 197 horses - reduced tax. A lot of "collective farm" has been accumulated (without fanaticism). Adequate price in the market (without overpayments for the brand). Separately, the rear window opens with a button (conveniently). Cons: roll steering wheel (you get used to it over time). The protruding transfer case on the right causes discomfort to the passenger. There are no headrests in the back. I want a sunroof.
