For a container into which the waste liquid will be drained, you can use a bucket or a five-liter plastic bottle from under the water. You can make your own funnel by cutting a plastic bottle in half.
Stages
It is desirable to drain the lubricating fluid from a warm VAZ 2115 engine, then it drains better. Therefore, it should be replaced after the trip. If the car was at rest and the engine is cold, then you need to start it and let it run for about ten minutes.
When draining the waste liquid, you must be very careful, as its temperature reaches one hundred degrees and you can get burned. Under the oil sump you need to substitute a container where it will drain.
To drain the grease, it is necessary to unscrew the plug on the oil drain hole with a 17 key. You need to turn counterclockwise. After unscrewing the plug, you should wait until all the grease has drained. This usually takes 10 minutes. When all the oil has drained out, the plug must be screwed back.
After draining, if necessary, the oil system will be flushed. To do this, fill in new oil or a special flushing fluid to the minimum level on the dipstick. Start the engine and let it run for 5 minutes. Then the liquid is drained again. After this procedure, they begin to replace the oil filter.
The old oil filter is usually unscrewed by hand. If manually unscrewing failed, use a special key.
In its absence, you can use a flat screwdriver, an awl or a chisel. With their help, the filter housing is pierced and rotated using devices as a handle.
After unscrewing the seat of the product, wipe it with a clean cloth to prevent dirt particles from entering the new oil. The new oil filter is 2/3 filled with lubricant so that it quickly lubricates the rotating parts of the engine, and they do not run dry when starting the engine after replacement. You should also lubricate the O-ring on the new filter with fresh oil.
Putting the oil filter on the fitting, you should manually tighten it until the gasket touches the cylinder block. Then tighten another ¾ turn. Do not overtighten to make it easier to remove the filter at the next replacement. Unscrew the plug on the filler hole
It is necessary to pour to the maximum level on the dipstick, without exceeding. Before pulling out the dipstick, you must wait a few minutes for the liquid to glass. For the accuracy of the result, the probe is wiped dry with a clean cloth before measurement.
After installing the filler plug in place, it is turned clockwise by 90 degrees. Then you need to start the VAZ 2115 engine so that it idles for several minutes. When the oil pressure light on the dashboard goes out, the engine can be turned off. After stopping the engine, check the lubrication level again. If necessary, add lubricant. The level must be greater than the minimum mark, but not exceed the maximum.

Step by step instructions for changing the oil

- The oil filter can be unscrewed either with a special wrench or with a screwdriver, which pierces its body and acts as a lever, which allows you to unscrew the filter from the thread. Be careful as there may be a small amount of grease in the filter element. In the event that you do not have a puller, you can try to unscrew the filter by hand. Use only a certain amount of caution, as you can burn yourself on a hot engine.
- We wrap the drain plug back in the oil pan and install a new filter element. It is necessary to pour a small amount of oil into the filter, and also lubricate the existing rubber sealing ring. The oil filter must be screwed in only by hand.
- Having twisted the drain plug and the filter, you can start pouring oil into the engine. This is done through the filler plug on the valve cover. We fill in about 3 liters and wait 5-10 minutes, which is necessary for the oil to settle and check its level with a dipstick. The oil level must be between the corresponding marks on the dipstick.
- We start the engine, at this time the oil pressure lamp should light up, and then go out after 5-10 seconds. The engine should run for several minutes, after which we turn it off and wait about 20 minutes.
- We check the oil level with a dipstick, as well as the oil filter and plug for leaks. If necessary, add oil to the middle level on the dipstick.

Worn spark plugs do not ensure complete combustion of fuel. Some part of it does not burn out and enters the crankcase. Motor lubricant liquefies, loses its viscosity properties. This process can be signaled by the ignition of a control lamp associated with the pressure sensor. Then, as soon as possible, the highly diluted grease is drained and a new one is poured.
How much and what kind of oil to pour
VAZ 2115 is equipped with gasoline engines with working volumes of 1499 cm 3 and 1596 cm 3. However, the type of engine does not affect the filling quantity of engine oil. In any case, 3.5 liters will be needed to replace.
You need to choose a lubricant product, focusing on the regulatory tolerances of SAE 5W-40 and API SM / CF. The preference for one or another type of engine oil should be motivated by considerations of optimal compliance with the operating conditions of the car.

Step by step oil change process
Changing the lubricant is carried out according to the traditionally proven scheme.
- The engine warms up well, the car is installed in a prepared place.
- The oil filler cap is unscrewed by turning it counterclockwise.
- Opposite the drain hole, a container is placed to collect the waste liquid.
- First, tear off the drain plug with a wrench. Then carefully unscrew it by hand. When the first drops of oil seep out, the plug is pressed against the thread and completely unscrewed. Then, with a sharp movement, the hand holding the cork is taken to the side.
- Drain the old oil. The procedure can last 10–20 minutes until the lubricant stops dripping.
- Remove the old filter by hand. If you can’t unscrew the sticky part with your hands, then use a special key. If it is not at hand either, then they pierce the filter housing with a thick screwdriver and, pressing the handle, unscrew the element that has served its purpose.
- Going down under the crankcase, tighten the drain plug.
- Ready to install a new filter. Pour fresh oil into its body (approximately a third or half of the total volume). Lubricate the rubber o-ring.
- Screw the filter by hand until it stops without using excessive force.
- Pour new lubricant through the funnel.
- After waiting 2-3 minutes, check the lubricant level. The optimal indicator is between the minimum and maximum designations.
- Start the engine, let it run for a few minutes, so that the oil pressure light goes out. After stopping the motor, re-check the lubrication level.
It is not recommended to fill engine oil above the maximum level. An increased amount of lubricant increases intra-engine pressure. The result of these processes is accelerated wear of sealing parts and the appearance of oil leaks.
