On November 13th, at the Guangzhou Motor Show, the young Chinese company Zotye Auto presented to the public its new model - a budget crossover called the T600. Serial production started in December of the same year, and later the management announced the imminent appearance of the model on the Russian market, and they planned to launch production at a plant in Tatarstan.
However, the “imminent appearance” was slightly delayed, the start of sales of the Zotye T600 car in Russia fell on March two thousand and sixteen. It was not possible to agree on the assembly of cars in Tatarstan, so cars for our market are assembled at the Unison plant in Belarus.

Being built on a truck from Hyundai Veracruz, the Zotye Auto T600 2019 SUV belongs to the class of mid-size crossovers. Its overall dimensions are 4631, 1694 and 1893 mm in length, width and height, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2807 mm. Depending on the selected configuration, the curb weight varies from 1,616 to 1,736 kg.
By default, the trunk volume here is 344 liters, which, by the standards of the class, is quite a bit. Naturally, the backs of the rear sofa can be folded, thereby increasing the capacity of the cargo compartment, but you can’t count on a flat floor.
The suspension on the Zoti T600 car in a new body is completely independent. MacPherson struts are used at the front, and a multi-link at the rear. Ground clearance is declared at the level of 185 millimeters. Front and rear brakes are disc.
In the database, the SUV is offered with a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 160 hp, although the power unit was derated to 149 hp especially for Russia. At the same time, the torque has not changed - all the same 215 Nm, which are available in the range from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm.
Such an engine works in conjunction with a five-speed mechanics, allowing the crossover to accelerate from standstill to hundreds in 9.8 seconds. The maximum speed of the basic version can reach 180 kilometers per hour.
The top Zotye T600 2020 is equipped with a 2.0-liter Mitsubishi gasoline engine, which, working with a six-speed dual-clutch DCT robotic gearbox, develops 177 “horses” and 250 Nm of torque in the range from 2,400 to 4,400 rpm. This option exchanges the first hundred in 9.3 seconds, and its maximum speed is 188 km / h.

Exterior
The exterior design of the new Zoti T600 2020 model is quite modern and attractive, however, like most young Chinese brands, it is not original. In the guise of an all-terrain vehicle, numerous borrowings from other famous brands are openly read.
In front, the “Chinese” strongly resembles the Volkswagen Touareg – the cars have an almost identical bumper with side sections and a similar grille with horizontal chrome fins. The shape of the head optics of the T 600 also in many ways resembles the “German”, however, the Chinese SUV has pentagonal headlights with LED strips of running lights.
The cab-back silhouette on the Zotye is quite sporty. This is also facilitated by a smooth roofline and neatly accentuated wheel arches. The latter have 16-inch wheels with 235/70 tires by default, but more expensive versions have 17 or 18 inch wheels.
As for the back, it is already more difficult to blame the company's specialists for plagiarism, since they borrowed design solutions from several models at once. As a result, they got a kind of hodgepodge of design solutions from a number of cars.
In some places, the rear of the Zoti T600 resembles a Tiguan, while the contour of the rear side windows was definitely peeped at the Audi Q5 crossover. If you look even closer, you can also see solutions from Toyota and Hyundai.
However, the SUV also has distinctive features. For example, the car received two small rounded exhaust pipes that modestly peek out from under the bumper, as well as a horizontal chrome bar with the inscription “Zotye Auto”, the edges of which are in contact with the rear lights.

The interior of the 2020 Zoti T600 is well-cut and has a fairly good layout. The build quality is decent enough, but the materials are budget. The decoration is dominated, though solid, but still quite cheap plastic. The seats are fabric-covered by default, and leather is only available on more expensive versions.
The front panel is almost completely made of hard plastic with dotted inserts “under the metal” or “under the tree”, and the first ones look quite concise, and the second ones literally “scream” about the budget model.
The dashboard consists of two large “wells” and a monochrome on-board computer display located between them. The Chinese offer to drive the car from a large three-spoke steering wheel. In the basic configuration, the “steering wheel” is ordinary, and in more expensive trim levels it is multifunctional (with buttons on the spokes).
It is also worth noting that by default, a simple radio tape recorder is installed for the Zoti T600 2018-2019 car, and a full-fledged multimedia complex with an 8.0-inch display on the center console is available only in expensive versions.
The story is similar with climate. In the base, the crossover is content with conventional air conditioning, while the top versions are equipped with modern climate control, the functions of which can be controlled from a small display and a few buttons.
As for landing, the front seats have a wide cushion and underdeveloped lateral support, thereby favoring a more relaxed and measured ride. A standard three-seater sofa is installed at the back.

The Zotye Coupa (in China, known as the T600 Coupe in its home country) is a front-wheel drive, five-door mid-size SUV that boasts a sleek (albeit not without borrowing) design, stylish interior, modern technology and not the poorest equipment ... It aims, first of all, for urban youth (regardless of gender), leading an active lifestyle and wanting to get a "stylish and well-packed" car for a reasonable price"...
This coupe-like crossover, suspiciously reminiscent of the Volkswagen Touareg on the outside, was born in April 2015 (albeit then only as a T600 S concept) - its premiere took place at the international auto industry exhibition in Shanghai. A serial copy of the five-door made its debut at the same place, but two years later (in the spring of 2017), and shortly after this event, its sales in the Chinese market started.
Zotye Coupa looks beautiful, imposing, modern and harmonious, but from some angles it looks too much like a Volkswagen Touareg.
The solid front of the car is decorated with laconic headlights with LED elements, a chrome-plated radiator grille and an embossed bumper, and its elegant rear catches the eye with stylish lights and two “curly” exhaust system nozzles.
On the side, the off-road vehicle demonstrates a proportional appearance with visual sidewalls and regular wheel arch cutouts, which is added by a lowered roof, black inserts on the rear pillars and an elongated spoiler visor above the rear window.
In terms of its dimensions, Zotye Coupa performs in the class of mid-size SUVs: length - 4654 mm, height - 1696 mm, width - 1893 mm. The wheelbase fits into the car at 2807 mm, and its ground clearance does not exceed 185 mm.
In running order, the mass of the five-door varies from 1541 to 1661 kg (depending on the modification).
Inside, Zotye Coupa meets riders with an elegant, original and quite solid design, made with sporty notes. A three-spoke multi-steering wheel “sawn” at the bottom, a concise “toolkit” with two analog instruments, an ergonomic center console with a 9-inch multimedia complex display and a stylish “microclimate” unit – visually, the interior of the crossover evokes exceptionally positive emotions.
In addition to this, the “apartments” of the car are distinguished by pleasant finishing materials and good build quality.
Salon kupeobrazny SUV is designed to accommodate the driver and four of his companions. Comfortable seats with optimal side support rollers and large adjustment ranges in several directions are installed in the front part.
On the second row there is a well-shaped sofa, a sufficient supply of space (although a sloping roof will hang over high riders) and an almost flat floor.
The luggage compartment of the all-terrain vehicle demonstrates the correct shape and neat finish, but the reserve of space is not impressive - in normal condition, its volume is only 344 liters. The "gallery" is compared with the floor by a pair of unequal parts, significantly increasing the possibilities of the "hold".
On the Russian market, Zotye Coupa is presented with only one engine - a four-cylinder unit with a displacement of 1.5 liters that meets Euro-5 environmental standards, with turbocharging, a multipoint injection system, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt and variable valve timing, which generates 143 horsepower. force at 5500 rpm and 207 Nm of torque at 2000-4000 rpm.
By default, it is mated with a 5-speed "mechanics" and a front-wheel drive transmission, and as an option - with a 6-band "automatic".
Regardless of the modification, the crossover accelerates from standstill to 100 km / h after 10 seconds, gaining a maximum of 180 km / h, and in the mixed mode of movement “digests” 7.9 liters of fuel for every “hundred” run.
It is worth noting that in other countries this car is offered with a 1.5-liter "turbo" producing 156 hp. and 207 Nm of peak thrust, and a 1.8-liter turbo engine that develops 177 hp. and 245 Nm of torque. The first unit in tandem is assigned the same gearboxes as in Russia, and the second is exclusively a 6-speed “robot”.
The Zotye T600 Coupe is based on a licensed front-wheel drive platform from Hyundai Veracruz with a transversely mounted power unit, and high-strength steel is widely used in its body structure.
Front and rear, the crossover has independent suspensions with transverse stabilizers and hydraulic shock absorbers: in the first case, MacPherson struts, in the second, a multi-link system.
The car is equipped with rack and pinion steering with power steering and disc brakes "in a circle" (ventilated on the front axle) with ABS, EBD and other electronics.
For Russian motorists, Zotye Coupa is offered in two equipment options - “Exalted” and “Royal”.
A crossover in the basic configuration with “mechanics” will cost from 990,000 rubles, while for a version with an “automatic” you will have to pay at least 1,150,000 rubles.
Regularly, the car is equipped with: two airbags, a “leather” interior, ABS, ESP, a dual-zone “climate”, a virtual instrument cluster, 18-inch alloy wheels, power windows for all doors, a media center, an audio system with six speakers, a “cruise”, front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera, keyless entry system and other modern options.
The five-door in the “top-end” version comes only with a 6-speed automatic transmission at a price of 1,250,000 rubles, and its signs are: six airbags, light and rain sensors, a panoramic roof with an electric sunroof, electric folding side mirrors, “music” with eight speakers, electrically adjustable front seats and anti-corrosion protection.
The Chinese company Zotye Auto, which already tried to enter the Russian market in 2007, but was able to successfully enter it only in 2016, currently offers Russians only two models. One of them is the T600 crossover, which is a clone of the 2nd generation Volkswagen Touareg. Well, almost a clone. Being inspired by the work of Volkswagen chief designer Walter de Silva, the manufacturer from the Celestial Empire tried to make sure that outwardly his creation was still a little different from a German car and attracted the people of Russia with a democratic price tag. Design
Zotye T600 and the second VW Touareg are indeed similar, but there are certain differences. Firstly, the Chinese counterpart is 170 mm shorter and 47 mm narrower compared to the "German", and the distance between the axles of the wheels is 86 mm less. It may seem to someone that we are not even talking about Touareg, but about his younger “brother” Tiguan, but no: the “Chinese” will be larger - it is 205 mm longer, 84 mm wider, and its wheelbase is 203 mm more. Secondly, the head optics of the T600 is different, although, like the Touareg, it has the shape of a slightly beveled diamond and is equipped with separate high and low beam spotlights.
The Zotye car has slightly different DRL LEDs, and the high-beam lenses have a bright blue edging, and the location of the foglights is slightly different. Both models have a trapezoidal lower air intake with a wide base, but the German "SUV" base is at the bottom, while the T600 is at the top. And yet, despite all the changes, at the first glance at a car from China, a comparison with a Volkswagen is sure to arise. There are fewer similarities in the rear of the body. Here, some lines are clearly reminiscent of the VW Tiguan, some of the Audi Q5, and something borrowed from Toyota and the Hyundai Veracruz, on the basis of which the T600, in fact, was created. Thus, it is impossible to assume that the "celestial" crossover is completely copied from the Touareg.
Design
The T600 is based on a chassis from the Hyundai Veracruz (aka ix55), since it has an almost identical wheelbase, and Zotye has just established a joint venture with Hyundai. An ordinary MacPherson strut is installed in front, and an independent multi-link suspension is installed at the back, although a conventional semi-independent suspension on trailing arms combined with a beam could be dispensed with for a front-wheel drive car.
Adaptation to Russian conditions
As they say, there are no miracles in the world: if an almost copy of the VW Touareg costs much less, then something is wrong with it. But this is not so: the T600 has neither all-wheel drive, nor “smart” assistants like electronic “pseudo-locks”, nor the Tuareg 201-mm ground clearance (the ground clearance of the “Chinese” is 185 mm), which means that on the harsh Russian off-road he has nothing to do. He also cannot boast of a large trunk: the minimum volume of the luggage compartment in this case is only 344 liters, which is quite inconvenient for those who have a rather big family and a dacha where you need to travel often. Such a car is quite suitable for daily city trips, because the features of its control quickly become clear and familiar, 185 mm clearance is enough for the city, and side mirrors and heated seats are provided for operation in the cold season.
Comfort
Salon T600 looks rather controversial. The first thing that catches your eye is a lot of wooden inserts. In this respect, the car from China surpasses both the Range Rover and the Mercedes-Benz GLS, and, it seems, even the Bentley Bentayga. But the wood here is not real - the inserts are actually plastic ... And the leather on the seats, door armrests and the central box is not natural, but artificial (in the "base" the seat trim is fabric). Despite such a clear imitation of luxury, the interior does not cause rejection, but, on the contrary, attracts with its originality and in some way intelligence. The "intelligence" of the interior is also emphasized by stylish analog instruments with milky white backlighting and an on-board computer screen located in the middle. The dashboard is readable without problems, everything is simple and clear. The steering wheel, unfortunately, devoid of natural leather braid, has a comfortable grip and has media system control buttons (multi-steering wheel is available in all trim levels except the base one).
On the ceiling there is a built-in eyeglass case and an optional panoramic glass roof with a huge sunroof. Other amenities include climate control (in the initial version - air conditioning), a cup holder in the rear armrest and an adjustable steering column. The driver's seat is manually adjustable in 6 directions by default, and electric adjustment is offered at an additional cost. The front passenger seat has 4 positions. There is plenty of headroom in the front row of seats, which, by the way, is not so common in Chinese cars. There is also enough free space in the back row, but you won’t be able to cross your legs.
The T600's security ratings are very good. In the C-NCAP crash test, he earned 51.2 points out of 62 possible, and he is 0.8 points short of a 5-star rating. For a frontal collision with full overlap at a speed of 50 km / h, the SUV received 14.8 points out of a maximum of 18, for a partial overlap at a speed of 64 km / h, he was awarded 15.1 points, and for a side collision - 15.95 points. Front and side airbags, curtains, an electronic stabilization system, an anti-lock braking system, as well as brake force distribution and tire pressure monitoring systems are responsible for protecting the driver and passengers of the crossover.
The top multimedia T600 is equipped with a large touch screen, AUX and USB connectors, an SD card slot, Bluetooth and Navitel navigation. The smartphone easily connects to it via Bluetooth, but for it to start working as a music player, using the menu on the touchscreen alone is not enough: in addition, you need to press the Mode button located on the steering wheel. The advantages of the multimedia complex include more or less good graphics and the availability of detailed city maps, while the disadvantages include small navigation buttons and the inability to change the font size.

The T600 engine range includes two gasoline turbo engines: the base one and a half liter engine from the Chinese concern SAIC, whose power was reduced from 162 to 149 hp for the sake of the transport tax. (215 Nm), and a new two-liter engine from the Japanese company Mitsubishi, which produces 177 hp. and 250 Nm of peak torque. The first unit is combined with a 5-speed manual transmission, and the second is paired with a six-speed “robot” with two clutches. Both comply with Euro-5 environmental standards. According to the manufacturer, fuel consumption in the city is 7.9-8.4 l / 100 km, depending on the modification.
The Chinese crossover Zotye T600 appeared in 2013, its first photos were taken as part of the company's shows. Even then it was clear that the car is a unified model, copied from several Europeans at once, namely Tuareg and Audi Ku5. Outwardly, these similarities are quite soundly made, a peculiar design, even a certain style is felt, more reminiscent of not China, but a European.
This is partly due to the fact that the company's plans were such that the bulk of the Zotye T600 modification should go to the CIS countries, in particular Belarus and Russia. An amazing combination of styles from Chinese designers is respected, even if it's all borrowed, but creating such a hybrid is also not easy. Even the photo shows how the design is tailored in European style, modest, strict, smart, and the line of motors even allows you to try on the Zotye T600 Sport prefix, but more on that later.
The front part with optics, bumper structure, overhangs completely copies its Tuareg donor. But with regard to the radiator grille, Audi motifs are perceptible, where they also give preference to huge grilles trimmed with chrome. Of the own details, only the manufacturer's branded emblem remains here.
The silhouette is divided, as it were, because the “front end” copies Volkswagen, but closer to the stern we see Audi overhangs, as well as characteristic roof rails. Oddly enough, the crossover also received a protective body kit, and it stretches throughout the body. But, it is especially noticeable in the side part, where really high-quality protection from powerful plastic opens up.
The feed of the Zotye T600 Sport 2019 is multifaceted, here, in addition to motives from German donors, there is also its own, if not a unique part, but at least something that represents the true style of this concern. We are talking about optics and trunk lid.
The strip that visually emphasizes and connects the lights most likely came from Porsche. I was pleased with the rear bumper kit, despite the fact that manufacturers, on the contrary, are trying to hide the exhaust system, the Chinese have completely different thoughts on this matter.
Interior
In the interior of the Zotye T600 Sport, at first it is difficult to understand where you are, from the first minutes the impressions are not bad, it seems that the plastic is good, with a good cut. The quality is really good, perhaps the concern has indeed revised its policy. The most important thing that the Zotye T600 Sport has been awarded is the interior from Audi.
Architecture with some difference, but still the overall outline is memorable and recognizable. Even from the photo you can clearly see how well the interior is tailored, it's a pity that the photo does not convey the whole atmosphere. In terms of quality and finish, the manufacturer has actually taken a big step forward.
The instrument panel with two “wells”, as well as a large on-board computer, came from the second generation Audi, in such a key performance. The differences here are only in the steering column, here the Chinese preferred to install their own "steering wheel". Of course, it is more modest than that of the donor, but all the same, the possibilities are wide, so there are many keys that are available even in the database.
The center console can be seen that it was built on a budget, a cheap radio is available in the “base”, but the top version will please with a multimedia panel with an eight-inch screen. I was surprised by the climate control, surprisingly functional, it's a pity that the place of placement was not worked out to the end. Due to the close gearshift lever, ergonomics suffer.
The seats are simple, there is no significant lateral support here, the usual profile, in no way reminiscent of their German donors. In front, comfort can be achieved only through adjustments, there are really a lot of them.
But behind, for some reason, they provided a low sofa, it’s almost impossible to sit out for long distances, everything is somehow knocked down and uncomfortable. Plus the profile is flat, almost no shape for the back.
Technical indicators
The technical characteristics of the Zotye T600 in Russia are not modest, but it is difficult to call them sports. To begin with, let's discuss the power unit that they are ready to offer us in China.
So, the initial turbocharged 1.5 liter engine, but wired, that is, summed up under Russian tax conditions, its maximum power is 149 hp. But, I'm glad that he pulls from the bottom.
The second engine is positioned as the top one, its working volume is declared as 2.0 liters, and the maximum generated power is 177 hp, which is not bad. If only “mechanics” relied on the first unit, then the choice of the same “mechanics” and a modern “robot” with dual clutch goes to the second.
The motors provide generally good dynamics, up to a hundred the car of the Zotye T600 concern accelerates in 9.5 - 10.3 seconds. The consumption figures are also surprising, as for such engines, an urban-style consumption of 9 liters is an absolute victory.
At the heart of our Chinese crossover is the "trolley" from Hyundai VeraKruz. This is not a banal copy, but really a joint work, all through a license agreement, as is customary in the modern world. In part, the fact that the platform was taken from a famous model reduces the cost of repairs, which is important, given Russian realities and roads.
The suspension is completely independent, this is already a tradition when there are MacPherson struts in front, and the same type of "many lever" in the back. Even in terms of electronic equipment, the Chinese can compete with their counterparts, in this price category, of course, he is far from the capabilities of donors.
However, already the “base” is guaranteed to receive a couple of assistants who will provide reliable grip for the Zoti T600 Sport on the road. In addition, a modular hydraulic booster is responsible for reliability and controllability.
Options and prices
As for the choice of configurations on the domestic market in 2019, there are no changes, most likely an extended list of modifications will be available from the new year, that is, from 2019. But, also, this information has not yet been confirmed by the manufacturer itself. But, despite the absence of most versions, even now for Zoti t600 the minimum price is 900,000 rubles.
Many experts are of the opinion that while the Chinese concern is not ready to enter the market on a large scale, since its products may not withstand the appearance of the crossover Vesta, which is already trying on the first lines of the top cars for 2019. We remind you that Zoti T 600 2019 is offered in two trim levels - these are “Luxury” and “Royal”.
The initial unit will be available in both versions, but the top two-liter unit was awarded only “Royal”, although there are no differences between the maximum versions, except for other engines. The appearance of the Zotye T600 crossover reminds many of the Volkswagen Touareg, but it also has its own features that have become individual. Compared to the original, the Chinese crossover Zotye T600 is smaller in all respects, in body and components. It will surprise many that for a relatively small price, the characteristics and equipment of a crossover are like those of expensive foreign cars. The radiator grille of the novelty depends on the configuration, in the usual version it is made of horizontal chrome strips, and in the top sports version it is based on a mesh insert. The lower part of the Zotye T600 bumper will surprise you in its own way, starting from the basic configuration, an additional grille with three chrome strips is installed, fog lights or plugs can be on the sides. Instead of the usual plugs for fog lights, the designers installed full-fledged glasses, which, in appearance, do not give out the basic set. No less surprising are the front optics of the Zotye T600 crossover.
