We put ordinary and spring washers on the thread of the wedge and lock it with a nut with a cotter pin. 15. We fasten the splines of the other end of the new shaft in the same way as the old cardan was fixed. 16. We fix the steering column completely. The length between the shaft hinges should be 30 cm. 17. Tighten the castellated nut and install the steering wheel. 18. We connect the wires, adjust the position of the horn bushing. The steering gear has been replaced, you can continue installing the power steering parts. INSTALLATION OF THE PUMP AND POWER RESERVOIR Procedure: 1. Remove the cooling fan, crankshaft pulley and drive belt. 2. Unscrew the pump bolts and fasten the radiator fan to the water pump hub using the spacer from the kit and longer bolts. 3. Install the power steering pump pulley in place of the crankshaft pulley so that the ignition mark looks back in the direction of the car. 4. Fix the new pulley with longer bolts. 5. Unscrew the bolts and remove the fuel filter together with the bracket. In its place, install the power steering bracket. 6. Unscrew the top nut of the pump and install the bracket from the power steering kit on the stud with the eye back. Then screw the nut back on. 7. The pump is installed, after that it is necessary: ​​to drill 3 holes in the left mudguard of the engine compartment, attach a bracket to the mudguard and use a clamp, bolts and nuts to fix the tank on it; connect the tank with the pump and steering gear with polymer hoses; pour multigrade gear oil into the system; turn the steering wheel in both directions until it stops (hanging the front wheels) to remove air from the system; start the UAZ 469 engine, check the operation of the power steering and, if necessary, add fluid to the reservoir. If the oil in the reservoir foams when the engine is running, it means that the system is leaking. Stop the engine, seal the hoses and bleed the system again.
