Is it really a new generation?
Yes, I would like to say about the new Toyota Camry 2018 that we are not just dealing with restyling, but with a really new sedan, which is based on TNGA architecture combined with the GA-K platform. The length of the body reached 4855 mm (an increase of 35 mm), the width - 1840 mm (plus 15 mm). At the same time, the Camry has become 25 mm lower (1455 mm), adding 50 mm to the wheelbase (2825 mm). The design is made with a large number of high-strength steels, and a number of amplifiers were added in the front and rear parts, which made it possible to increase the final stiffness values by a third.
As you can see from the photo, the changes also affected the appearance of the new Camry: the radiator grille was shifted to the bumper and became larger, and the LED head optics acquired a proprietary narrowed shape. Interestingly, the cells of the radiator grille are made quite large, which, possibly, can lead to damage to the radiator by stones - you will have to order a protective mesh in addition.
Outwardly, nothing remains of the previous generation, but the rear can be perceived in different ways - it all depends on what angle you look at it from. For example, it adds massiveness if you walk around the car, however, while driving, the experience is completely different.
Bad news: ground clearance
Of the unpleasant changes, the ground clearance has been reduced by a centimeter, which is now just over 150 mm. The overhang of the front bumper was also reduced by a centimeter, and now it is separated from the asphalt by only 210 mm. In principle, most of the curbs are not terrible, but this nuance should be taken into account. The manufacturer's statement calms down that the data of serial cars can be slightly corrected. Another point concerns crankcase protection, which is not provided. For basic versions, 16-inch rims are relied upon, but as you move up the trim levels, their diameter increases to 18”.
Interior is better than before
The strict style in the cabin of the past Camry has been replaced by bolder forms. The driver's area of the novelty for the first time received clear boundaries, even the center console was turned a little. The materials used in the decoration have also improved, which is especially noticeable in the buttons and fittings. In comparison with its predecessor, by increasing the range of vertical adjustment of the steering wheel and adding lateral support to the seat, landing has become more comfortable. In general, only positive impressions remain from the new interior.
The cross section and diameter of the steering wheel has decreased, and the cruise control is placed on the right spoke. "Handbrake" has become conventional, electromechanical with a button, instead of the old foot, often used in American models. The accelerator pedal is fixed to the floor.
Among the shortcomings of the updated interior, one can single out the presence of glossy plastic on the center console, which is very susceptible to scratches. Unfortunately, neither a panoramic roof nor a sunroof will be offered in the new generation.
Rear passengers will be cramped
Despite the increase in the wheelbase, this did not improve the position of the rear passengers in any way: the knee space for those sitting in the back seat was reduced by 30 mm, and so that people would not rest their heads on the roof, which became lower, the sofa cushion was lowered closer to the floor. Reseeding in the new Camry with the old one, the changes are very noticeable.
In fairness, it should be noted that in general terms, the new 2018 Toyota Camry cannot be called cramped: the second row will still comfortably accommodate a couple of adults, while the sofa is wide enough to accommodate three. Expensive performances received seats with adjustable back angles, and on the large armrest there was control of the back positions, heating, sun blind, and rear climate control.
Lost in volume and trunk (minus 13 liters): depending on the presence of the function of adjusting the back of the sofa, the volume can be 469 or 493 liters.

The 2.5- and 2-liter gasoline power units have not changed, producing 181 and 150 “horses”, respectively, but the 6-speed automatic with which they were aggregated has undergone modernization - the torque converter lockup ranges have been expanded, which led to a more pleasant response to pressing the pedal .
It is stated that all available engines are designed to work with 92-octane gasoline. Later, the domestic consumer will be offered a 2.5-liter "four", in the American versions issuing 206 hp.

The engine compartment is separated from the passenger compartment with a five-layer coating, the rear shelf received additional sound insulation, technological openings in the doors were closed with plugs. Thanks to such manipulations, it became really quieter in the car: the sound of a running engine is almost inaudible, and the noise from the roadway and gravel flying away from the wheel arches does not bother as before. Annoy only the noise from the air flow near the A-pillars, but this does not cause much discomfort, and they are heard only after breaking the mark of 100 km / h.

The new Toyota Camry 2018 in Russia in the basic configuration has fallen in price, though symbolically - by 8 thousand rubles. However, this is nothing more than a marketing ploy: other versions have increased in price from 15 thousand to an impressive 180 thousand for top modifications.
The number of configurations for the new generation Camry has been reduced from nine to seven, but if earlier the equipment was tied to the power unit, now other combination options have appeared: in the top three configurations, you can choose motors, which made it possible to get ten possible combinations. The reduction in the starting price, taking into account discounts, can be called symbolic - only 8 thousand rubles, but other versions have only become more expensive. So, comparing different generations of a two-liter Toyota Camry in similar trim levels, the new generation has become more expensive by 15-40 thousand rubles.
The machine in the initial configuration "Standard" equipped with climate control (dual-zone), ESP system, six airbags, a simple audio system, engine start button, heated front seats, LED head optics, light sensor, electric handbrake and 16" alloy wheels.
IN "Standard Plus" there is a multimedia complex equipped with a touch screen, a rain sensor, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, parking sensors and a cruise. As mentioned above, the design of the sedan in the new body used a mid-size version of the TNGA platform, which has the GA-K index and is characterized by the use of high-strength steels, improved rigidity of the body elements, a reduced center of gravity, as well as a double-lever rear suspension (MacPherson struts were previously installed). The car has become 3 cm lower, the hood is 4.1 cm closer to the ground, the rear row of seats is 3 cm lower, and the front row is 2.5 cm lower. All this should have a positive effect on the driving characteristics of the sedan in the new body.
The wheelbase value was 2824 mm, adding almost 50 mm, and the overall dimensions have not changed significantly - the model has a width of 1839 mm and a length of 4859 mm.

Base models are equipped with a 2.5-liter "four" with direct injection - this atmospheric engine is completely new, has a 40% thermal efficiency (previously this figure was 3% less on average). This minimizes engine power loss. This power unit is also aggregated with a new "automatic" DirectShift in 8 steps. In addition, a 3.5-liter upgraded "six" will be included in the engine range.
The hybrid version will include the previously mentioned 2.5-liter engine, combined with an electric motor and a new generation of electromechanical CVT transmission. It is noteworthy that the hybrid version has a sport mode, where the CVT simulates the operation of an “automatic” with 6 steps. To lower the center of gravity, the traction battery was removed from the trunk - now it is located under the rear seat. In Russia, a hybrid version will not appear.
The mid-range 2018 Toyota Camry is already equipped with Safety Sense, an active safety system with lane tracking and automatic braking assistants, a dozen airbags, intelligent high beams, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a rear view camera. The driver has several displays at once: the main one in the instrument cluster for 7”, an 8” multimedia system with the third version of Entune and a projection one on the windshield (optional). All this, of course, is available in the maximum configuration of the new Camry for the corresponding price (for 2 million rubles).

It seems that recently the Japanese company Toyota presented the seventh generation of one of its most beautiful sedans - Camry, and now the designers decided to refresh the model somewhat by carrying out a slight restyling of the sedan. The first, as usual, was the American version, the updated model arriving to us appeared a little later.
In addition to the timing of the appearance of restyled versions, they also differ visually. The American Camry has more sporty notes in appearance, but in general the European and American ones are similar, yet it is produced by the same company, albeit in different markets. In the meantime, we are interested in Toyota Camry 2015, designed for the American consumer.
Officially, the new Camry appears as a restyled model, but as for the American version, it is rather a car with a facelift, since all the improvements have only affected the exterior and interior. The technical part of the car remained unchanged.
So, the new Toyota Camry for the American market has changed its appearance, and for the most part the front of the car has changed, a little work has been done with the rear. As for overall dimensions, data on this car has not yet been indicated. If anything has changed in the dimensions of this sedan, then only slightly.
Changes in appearance
With the front of the car, the designers have worked thoroughly. The main place on the front end is occupied by a bulky bumper. The small radiator grille of the novelty is divided in the middle by a chrome strip with the company's label. The headlights come close to the grille, they are narrowed near it, but then expand somewhat. Headlights include all the elements of optics, including turn signals.
The bumper is really big. The main place on it went to the overall air intake. In the basic version, it is barred with horizontal stripes.
Also, the American Camry 2015 will be offered with a sports bumper, in which the air intake is divided into three sections and grilled with a mesh.
On the sides of the intake are stylistically well-designed LED strips of fog lights, located somewhat at an angle. The bottom of the bumper is decorated with a small and neat aerodynamic skirt.
As for the side part, only the shape of the mirrors was revised there, which ensured a reduction in aerodynamic drag, as well as a reduction in wind noise from them.
The rear headlights have also been revised. Their shape has changed somewhat, in the novelty they have a triangular shape. The remaining elements of the rear part were not subject to changes.
Interior
Alterations in the cabin and not much at all. The designers focused on comfort, so the cabin got a new improved sound insulation.
The dashboard was redesigned somewhat, making it more pleasant to look at. But the location of the information sensors remained the same - the wells of analog sensors, and between them - the on-board computer display.
The main place on the center console, as before, is reserved for the multimedia and navigation display. Along the edges of it are all kinds of control keys.
The heating and air conditioning system is installed under this display. The bottom of the console went to a closed storage box with a 12 V socket built into it. The interior of the novelty is decorated with chrome decorative inserts.
Technical component
As for the technical part, for the American Camry 2015 it completely and without changes “migrated” from its predecessor. Under the hood of this sedan can be one of two gasoline engines or a hybrid installation.
The first engine has a volume of 2.5 liters, which provides an output of 178 hp. The second installation is larger and more powerful. Its total volume is 3.5 liters, and the power indicator is 268 hp.
For a hybrid installation, they took a gasoline engine with 2.5 liters of volume, but the presence of power electric motors provides a sedan with such technical equipment with 200 hp. power.
Versions, cost
American Toyota will be offered in a basic version, as well as two specialized ones. One of the versions received the designation SE, it includes the presence of a sports bumper. The second version - XSE makes this sedan a full-fledged sports model, since it includes not only the presence of a bumper, but also a reconfigured suspension, improved power steering and special rims.
But the cost of the American version of this popular sedan cannot be called small. The base model has a minimum price of $22,970. The top sports version will cost almost a third more – $31,370.
