Three years ago, a solemn premiere of the little-known in our country brand Luxgen, originally from Taiwan, took place in Moscow. In September 2013, the Luxgen 7 mid-size crossover went on sale. A full-fledged production was launched right in Cherkessk at the Derways enterprise. In general, the correct name of the Luxgen brand is Laksgin, but we deliberately call it Luxgen. So it's more convenient and easier.

The basis for the brand name was two English words - Luxury or luxury, and Genius, aka "brilliant". In just seven years of the company's existence, the Taiwanese have made an ingenious leap forward. Luxgen 7 is positioned as a representative of the premium segment, which remains relatively affordable for the mass buyer. The entire range of Laxjin.

Exterior

The design of the seventh Luxgen turned out to be at least unusual. The decisive role in this was played by large head optics and a massive radiator grille. When viewed in profile, the crossover looks like a puffy Infiniti Ex. In our opinion, the front of the car is its weak point. Take a look at the Luxgen 7 photo - you will see incomprehensible small grilles, a strange shape of the radiator, headlights.

Somehow everything is clumsy and unsightly. Behind the machine looks a little better, the feeling of "bad taste" does not arise. The nose of the car has a considerable bumper, which in turn closes a considerable vertical "nose". The “trapeze” of the radiator grill found its place on the central part, which received a chrome frame and two-story air ducts on both sides, which were made of black plastic.

Located at the top, they were decorated with ribbons of the LED daytime running light system. The fog lamps got their place quite high, almost near the head light. The embossing, which is U-shaped as if it hugs the grille, stylish fins run through the surface of the hood and seamlessly join the A-pillars. Ledges infusion of the hood into the wings have headlights, almond-shaped.

The ancestor indirectly looks like a Peugeot 3008. The side of the Taiwanese car contains considerable door openings, an ascending line of side windows with an “armrest”, which turned out to be quite high, a rib at the level of the door handles, neatly calibrated wheel arches, which easily accommodate light wheels alloy, designed for 18 inches, a roof dome with a spoiler and a compact aft part in the style of current crossover coupe-type bodies.

If you turn your attention to the aft part of the car, it is distinguished by narrow-sized ceiling lamps, which are made in the style of an LED system, a small tailgate, a stylish bumper with auxiliary elements of lighting technology and built-in exhaust pipes, which received a trapezoidal shape.

The car turned out not bad, with proportional and attractive qualities. Of course, something was purchased from other automotive companies, but we can confidently say that the model came out original.

Interior

And here the Taiwanese designers guessed right. First of all, space. After all, having a length of 4.8 meters (this is more than that of the Volkswagen Tuareg 2015), there is no doubt that there is free space both in front and behind. The interior finishes are of average quality. This is no longer China, but not premium models of well-known European brands.

If the exterior of the Luxgen 7 car raises more or less controversial issues, then when you get into the interior, you freeze a little, surprised by the unexpected luxury. The interior received leather trim, not leatherette, but real leather. She covered the door cards, the lower part of the front dashboard and the central tunnel, the steering wheel, and the seats were covered with perforated leather, which hints a little at the function of heating and ventilation.

The driver's seat has an excellent profile and well-defined support rollers on the sides. A large steering wheel with a thin rim can be adjusted purely in height, a considerable dashboard flows through a large console into a floor tunnel, which looks high. In the middle of the central panel, a 10.2-inch LCD display found its place.

It displays a picture from 4 cameras, which provide all-round visibility, navigation maps, video from a night vision camera, adjust the multimedia system, 3-zone climate control. The console, which is located in the center, has a scattering of keys, and it will take time to get used to them and know which one is responsible for what. The first row of seats offers sufficient free space.

In addition, the seats have an electric drive function. As for the rear sofa, there is no less free space, so even three tall people playing basketball can comfortably fit. The chairs installed at the back can be moved forward and backward with the help of a slide, the backrest can be adjusted in terms of the angle of inclination, there are own deflectors of the ventilation system. The floor is flat.

The luggage compartment is really huge, however, its exact volume is still unknown. The crossover model Luxgen 7 SUV in its list has a considerable number of useful features. So, there is a “smart” electric tailgate drive, which was trained to monitor the possibility of fully opening the door.

In practice, this will help in a cramped parking lot or in a garage, where there will not be enough free space for the door and it will not rise to the maximum opening, protecting itself from possible damage. An interesting option for the Luxgen Seven car was the anti-theft system. In the event of a threat, the driver's seat tilts forward so much that no one but the owner can return it to its place and drive. It is clear that this is unlikely to stop a professional car thief, but still ...

On the road, the Taiwanese is disappointing. At high speeds, the engine frankly lacks traction, and the steering sensitivity leaves much to be desired. Speaking of which, such a large crossover would be better off with a powertrain in a more powerful state, because its competitors are superior to the Luxgen 7 in this regard.

The Luxgen 7 crossover has the following overall characteristics: length - 4,800 mm, height - 1,760 mm, width 1,930 mm, wheelbase 2,910 mm, ground clearance is 175 mm, which is very good, because such a clearance will only come in handy according to our roads.

Safety

The novelty has a complete set of AirBag, which includes curtains on the sides and the ABS system and electronic brake force distribution. There are 9 pillows in total. The Luxgen is equipped with top-end passive safety features as built and adjusted for crash testing by the German firm Continental. Active security options were developed by the US company Delphi.

In the fall of 2013, another novelty “arrived” in Russia - the Luxgen 7 SUV crossover from the automaker from Taiwan - Yulon Group (by the way, this car has been presented in its homeland since 2010).

And now a little note: the company was founded in 1953, today the company is engaged in licensed production of cars of well-known world companies for the domestic market and export to the countries of Southeast Asia (its partners are Nissan, Chrysler, Geely, GM, Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi) . And cars under their own brand "Luxgen" have been produced since 2009 - the "first-born" was the Luxgen7 MPV minivan, and the Luxgen7 SUV crossover appeared a year later ... In 2011-2012, the Russian market showed rapid growth - therefore, Russia became one of the first countries with which the Taiwanese automaker decided to start "expansion" ... and already in 2013, in the territory of the Russian Federation (at the Derways plant in Karachay-Cherkessia), a "local assembly" of the Luxgen7 SUV was launched.

By 2014, the appearance of the crossover was slightly refreshed - having modified the optics (both in form and in terms of the widespread equipping with LEDs) and noticeably changing the design of the front of the car.

Let's say right away about the dimensions of this Made in Taiwan crossover, and the car is quite large: length - 4800 mm, height - 1760 mm, width - 1930 mm, wheelbase - 2910 mm, ground clearance is good - 229 mm.

We open the door of the crossover - and “we freeze with surprise at the unexpected luxury” ... The interior is completely in leather (and this is not leatherette, but the most natural leather) - door cards, the lower part of the front dashboard and central tunnel, steering wheel, seats - are trimmed with perforated leather (hint for heating and ventilation) ... in the skin it’s just “everything”.

We sit down in a comfortable chair with an excellent profile and pronounced lateral support rollers. A large steering wheel with a thin rim (but it is only adjustable in height), a large dashboard (through a large console it goes into a high floor tunnel). The “title” on the center console is a 10.2-inch LCD screen - you can display on its monitor: images from four cameras (providing all-round visibility), navigator maps, a picture from a night vision camera, control a multimedia system and three-zone climate control. The lower part of the center console with a scattering of buttons - it will take time to deal with them ... Seats in the first row - with a margin, seats - with electric drive.

We pass to the second row - where there is enough space for the location of three "basketball players". The rear seats can be moved back and forth on a slide, the backrest is adjustable in tilt angle, there are ventilation system deflectors, the floor is flat (even without a hint of a tunnel). The luggage compartment, as we have already noted, is simply huge (its maximum volume reaches 1204 liters).

If we talk about technical characteristics - Luxgen7 SUV is built on the L7 platform, which provides for both front- and all-wheel drive versions (the all-wheel drive version is implemented using the Getrag electromagnetic clutch - to connect the rear wheels, with three transmission modes: "2WD "", "Auto" or "Lock" Suspension: front MacPherson strut, rear torsion beam with Panhard rod ... available power steering, disc brakes and a host of electronic systems (ABC, EBD, BAS, ESC, TSC, BOS).

The crossover is equipped with a non-alternative gasoline four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a volume of 2.2 liters, which can provide a maximum power of 175 hp. (at 5200 rpm) and thrust 270 N m (in the range of 2500-4000 rpm). The power unit is paired with a 5-speed "automatic" that is also uncontested.

Such a tandem provides dynamics in ~ 10 seconds (up to 100 km / h) and a maximum speed of 190 km / h. And fuel consumption (AI-95), in the combined cycle, is about 11-12 liters per 100 kilometers.

Prices. In 2014, Luxgen7 SUV was introduced to the Russian market in three trim levels: Comfort, Comfort Plus and Prestige.

Crossover Luxgen 7 SUV has a large size, which is why there is a lot of space in the cabin. The front seats are equipped with an electric drive, there is plenty of space here, so even a tall person can choose a comfortable position for themselves. But still, a short pillow interferes with a truly comfortable arrangement, and lateral support could be developed stronger. But the seats are endowed not only with heating and ventilation, but also with a massage function.
