It is hard to imagine the way of thinking of Japanese marketers, because in fact this Toyota is more suitable for something like the Spartan. The chassis, which in the current fashion is now called the "IMV platform" (that is, "international multifunctional"), is a pickup truck frame with a dependent rear suspension - only springs are used instead of springs. Honest plug-in four-wheel drive with a reduction gear is designed for driving on slippery roads, and on a dry highway you need to switch to reverse. In the first generation, Fortuner was assembled in Thailand and Kazakhstan, and they were brought to us unofficially - privately or through "gray" dealers.

Sales of the car will begin in November, but there are no prices yet. It is only known that not only rich people expect us to be equipped, there will also be a basic version - without steering wheel heating, windshield and front seats, but with a 7-seater saloon. In addition, it is clear that the Fortuner will be slightly cheaper than the more comfortable Prado, which costs from 2 to 3.9 million rubles. Finally, the only direct competitor of a newcomer in our market, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, is sold for 2.4-3 million. Only Sport, as well as Prado, has one very significant advantage over Fortuner - a multi-mode transmission, which allows not only to successfully knead the dirt, but also to drive on a dry road with all-wheel drive. But the Hi-Lax pickup truck, on the basis of which the Fortuner was built, costs 2-2.5 million rubles. It turns out a little strange picture. The Japanese brought us a reliable and unpretentious car, hunting and fishing enthusiasts, for whom the Prado and, especially, the 200th Land Cruiser, are large and expensive, would be happy to buy it.
