Restyling Chevrolet Captiva is designed to return the position of the model in the urban SUV segment in Russia. Not to say that there was no demand for Captiva, the model has always enjoyed stable, but not overwhelming demand. In addition to its impressive size, the car now boasts a new false radiator grille, with a large horizontal bar that divides it into two parts. The new "face" wears the brand's "signature" design, without distinguishing it from other Chevrolet models.

Internal Features

The Captiva salon has always been famous for its interior space, therefore, by and large, the designers did not change or redo something, focusing on strengthening the sound insulation of the cabin. For this purpose, a new windshield appeared, a more durable soundproof upholstery of the ceiling appeared, seals in the doors were changed, and more powerful fender liner appeared in the wing niches.

Apparently, when preparing the car, all the miscalculations and shortcomings of the previous version were taken into account. And it seems that this is true, because the car received not only new sound insulation, but also the chassis of the car was reconfigured in the most serious way: the stiffness of the springs was increased, the shock absorber struts were reconfigured for a harder mode of operation, and the anti-roll bars became more powerful. The choice of power units has also been expanded: if earlier the Russian motorist felt left out, not being able to choose a diesel engine, now he is offered a choice of a three-liter V-shaped six-cylinder engine with a capacity of 249 horsepower, a turbocharged diesel engine with a working volume of 2.2 liters and with a capacity of 184 horsepower and the already familiar 2.4-liter gasoline engine with increased power to 167 hp. The changes also affected the transmission: both automatic and manual gearboxes received six steps.

The changes made benefit the car: when driving, aerodynamic noise is not heard, thanks to the enhanced sound insulation of the cabin, and the car does not notice pits and all kinds of irregularities, “swallowing” them due to its energy-intensive suspension. The car turns more confidently, which is expressed in the absence of rolls when passing at high speed. The new high-torque turbodiesel "takes out" the car from the very bottom. The speed characteristics are impressive: the car accelerates to “hundreds” in 9.6 seconds, and the maximum speed of the turbodiesel Captiva is 200 km / h.

Pleasant little things also appeared, such as an electromechanical parking brake that allows you to block the wheels of the car at the touch of a button, Bluetooth wireless communication, as well as a descent assistance system, when the electronics prevent spontaneous “rolling” of the wheels.

Equipped with a diesel version of the Chevrolet Captiva is quite worthy. In addition to various options such as full power accessories, leather steering wheel trim, all kinds of factory tinting, parking sensors and roof rails, front, side and ceiling airbags (six in total), exchange rate stabilization system, climate control and cruise control system, fog lights.

Visitors to the annual Geneva Motor Show (March 2013) were able to get acquainted with the updated Chevrolet Captiva crossover in 2013. The purpose of our review is to tell readers about the updates in the exterior and interior of the Chevrolet Captiva 2013, indicate the overall dimensions of the body and the tires and wheels proposed for installation, help choose the color of the enamel, recall the full technical specifications and fuel consumption (engines, gearboxes and chassis were not subjected to intervention) . Let's take a closer look at the new options that were not previously available for installation on the American-Korean SUV, evaluate the level of equipment with comfort, entertainment and security systems. Our readers will be able to evaluate the new Chevrolet Captiva from photo and video materials, it will be possible to order and purchase a car in Russia starting from the fall of 2013, then the exact price will be known.

Dimensions

Let's start with the external dimensions of the updated 2013 Chevrolet Captiva:

  • 4670 mm long, 1868 mm wide, 1756 mm high with roof rails, 2707 mm wheelbase, ground clearance varies depending on the wheels installed, in the end clearance ranges from 171 mm with 235/60 R17 tires to 178 mm with 235/50 R19 tires, 235/55 R18 tires can also be installed. Size 17, 18 or 19 rims are made from aluminium.
  • Let's supplement the data with the parameters of the geometric cross-country ability of the Captiva body: the approach angle is 20 degrees, the ramp angle is 18 degrees, the exit angle is 24 degrees, the fording depth is 450 mm.

Exterior

With a cursory glance at the updated 2013-2014 Chevrolet Captiva, it is very difficult to find new exterior details, but they are present. Korean designers have changed the grid pattern of the radiator grille, the foglights are located in the boxes and have acquired a stylish chrome frame, the front bumper has barely perceptibly changed the proportions and configuration of the lower fairing.

The main innovations fall on the rear of the body. The all-new LED position lights not only look stylish and beautiful, but also turn on faster when you press the brake pedal (positive for safety). The reshaped rear bumper has acquired new strips of reflectors, the exhaust tips have become trapezoidal.

Otherwise, we have a well-known Chevrolet Captiva with harmonious body proportions and bright original elements in the form of a branded false radiator grille, a huge front bumper with a low fairing lip, and powerful crossover protection of the car body.

The manufacturer does not spare plastic and generously closes the lower parts of the crossover body, thereby hinting at the possibility of driving a Captiva off-road. That's just with ground clearance, like a regular sedan, and a front bumper that can be damaged even in urban conditions, there is no desire to leave the asphalt surface.

SUV in a word, and a manly look - a tribute to fashion and nothing more.

  • When ordering a car, it is possible to choose color body colors: basic white, for metallics - silver, light gray, beige, red, black and blue mother-of-pearl, you need to pay 15,000 rubles.

Interior

The interior of the updated Chevrolet Captiva 2013, at the request of the potential owner, can be with two or three rows of seats and, accordingly, is designed to accommodate five or seven passengers, including the driver.
The main attributes of the restyled Captiva model are a new instrument panel, consisting of two large radii of a tachometer and a speedometer with chrome-plated rim rings, and a color screen of the on-board computer. In saturated versions, interior lighting, heated second row seats, keyless entry to the cabin and engine start with a button, dual-zone climate control, and a rear view camera will be available for installation.

Traditionally, for Chevrolet cars sold in Russia, the Captiva crossover is available in four trim levels: from the initial version of the LS, more saturated LT and LT + to the richly equipped LTZ with leather upholstery, electric driver's seat and other attributes of a modern car.
The driver and front passenger will sit in comfortable chairs for a leisurely ride. The flat profile of the cushion and backrest, without a hint of lateral support, does not hold riders well in corners. Places with a margin in all directions, ergonomics at a high level for a car with a Chevrolet cross on the grille. Convenient multifunctional steering wheel, gear lever located in the optimal place, high-quality picture of the 7-inch touch screen, convenient location of the audio and air conditioning control units.

In the second row, three passengers are provided with a sufficient supply of space in terms of the width and height of the cabin. Even people with a height of over 190 cm can comfortably accommodate, the knees of those sitting do not reach the backs of the front seats. The passenger who is located in the center should not think about where to attach the feet, the floor is absolutely flat.

For the convenience of landing on the third row, the right seat of the second row of seats folds, and rising vertically provides a convenient passage. There is not so much space for two passengers of the gallery as for the inhabitants of the first and second rows, but it is comfortable to sit on full-fledged, and, not least, comfortable chairs.

Volume trunk the seven-seater version of the Chevrolet Captiva from 97 liters with all the occupied seats in the cabin increases to 477 liters (769 liters loading under the ceiling), if the third row seats are folded down. Having transformed the second row of seats into a flat floor, we get 942 liters, and by folding the front passenger seat - 1577 liters.
The five-seater version of the Captiva has a trunk from 477 liters with five on board to 942 liters with a driver and a passenger (data when loaded on the bottom line of the side windows).
According to representatives of the manufacturer's company, the finishing materials and the quality of the soundproofing of the interior of the updated Chevrolet Captiva 2013 have become significantly better.

Specifications Chevrolet Captiva 2013

The technical component of the machine remained unchanged. The suspension is fully independent with MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link at the rear, and an advanced Soft Ride suspension is also installed (automatically maintaining a constant ride height). Disc brakes, electric power steering with the ability to change performance depending on the speed of movement and the mass of electronic security systems - ABC with EBD and BAS, ESC, TCS, HDC and an assistant when starting uphill. For Russians, the crossover is available only with an AWD all-wheel drive transmission.
Engines for the 2013 Chevrolet Captiva also remained unchanged, a turbodiesel and a couple of gasoline engines. Transmissions 6-speed manual and automatic.

  • The 2.2-liter VCDi diesel (184 hp) with 6 manual transmissions (6 automatic transmissions) is distinguished by excellent traction of 400 Nm and provides a crossover weighing 1928 (1953) kg with dynamics up to 100 mph in 9.7 (11.0) seconds at maximum speed 200 (191) mph. According to the manufacturer, diesel fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 6.6 (7.7) liters.
  • Petrol four-cylinder 2.4-liter (167 hp) is paired with a 6 manual transmission (or automatic 6 automatic transmission), the tandem of the engine and gearbox is capable of accelerating a car weighing 1843 (1868) kg to the first hundred in 10.3 (11.0) seconds and up to a maximum speed of 186 (175) mph. The declared consumption of gasoline in the combined cycle is about 9.3 liters per hundred.
  • A petrol 3.0-liter V6 produces 249 forces paired with 6 automatic transmissions, a car weighing more than 1900 kg does a spurt up to 100 km / h in 9.0 seconds, a maximum speed of 198 km / h. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle is at least 10.7 liters.

According to the reviews of the owners of the Chevrolet Captiva of the 2011-2012 model, in real conditions of everyday operation, fuel consumption differs upwards. A diesel engine consumes an average of 9-10 liters of diesel fuel, a gasoline four-cylinder 11-12 liters, but the appetite of the "six" is rarely less than 14-15 liters in combined mode, with active driving with frequent acceleration and braking, as well as with dense city traffic consumption can reach 18 liters.

According to preliminary information, the cost of the updated crossover Chevrolet Captiva 2013 model year in Russia will increase, but not significantly. Recall that the 2012 Chevrolet Captiva can be bought at the showrooms of official dealers in Russian cities at a price of 1.065 million rubles for the initial configuration of the LS. The sale price of a richly equipped version of the Chevrolet Captiva LTZ with a powerful 249 horsepower gasoline engine, automatic transmission and leather interior is from 1.375 million rubles.
Added. As expected, the updated Chevrolet Captiva 2013 has risen in price by only 10 thousand rubles. You can buy a Captiva crossover that survived the facelift at a price of 1075 thousand rubles for the initial configuration of the LS with a 2.4 petrol (167 hp) 6 manual transmission. The presence of 6 automatic transmissions will raise the cost to 1197 thousand rubles. Diesel Chevrolet Captiva 2013 (2.2 liters 184 hp) can be bought for a price of 1400 thousand rubles, which is interesting with a powerful gasoline six for 249 forces under the hood, the new Chevrolet Captiva 2013 costs from 1372 thousand rubles.

This crossover was introduced to the general public more than a year ago, simultaneously with the Chevrolet Cruze. Despite the apparent identity with its predecessor, the Chevrolet Captiva has changed a lot in terms of technical characteristics, equipment and prices, as well as many other aspects such as technological content.

Of course, the body of the restyled version of Captiva has undergone major changes, as a result of which a huge number of different innovations have appeared. Also in the car, the interior and its functionality have changed in favor of greater diversity. Today, the Chevrolet Captiva is one of the most common cars that does not really stand out among its own counterparts.

It is important to note that despite the variety of configurations and modifications, only two different versions of the Chevrolet Captiva are available to the Russian consumer:

  • five-seater;
  • seven-seater.

However, this does not affect the dynamics of the crossover in any way, since in Russia you can buy this car with any presented manufacturer, power unit, without any restrictions. At the same time, the price of the most powerful version does not greatly exceed the minimum configuration.

For the Russian consumer, Chevrolet Captiva is available in several different trim levels, each of which can be equipped with one of the power units specially designed for the updated model range. At the same time, as a rule, engines, with the exception of the 3.0-liter engine, can be found in each existing configuration in the price range corresponding to power.

Most of the Chevrolet Captiva owner reviews are positive and emphasize a wide range of different modifications as one of the main advantages. This is due to the fact that thanks to this, anyone can buy this car without particularly high cash costs. At the same time, it is still worth knowing that the equipment and prices for cars are strongly related to power.

The list of kits available for purchase in Russia and in many other countries of the world includes the following assemblies:

  • LS - from 1 million 565 thousand to 1 595 thousand rubles;
  • LT - from 1 million 645 thousand to 1 million 792 thousand rubles;
  • LT+ - from 1 million 746 thousand to 1 million 876 thousand rubles;
  • LTZ - from 1 million 884 thousand rubles.

It is important to note that the top LTZ package can be purchased exclusively for the above-mentioned fee in combination with a 3.0-liter, unique to the lineup, engine and automatic transmission. It is this modification that provides the maximum set of functions and the highest performance indicators.

Notes

Given that the start of sales of the Chevrolet Captiva has already begun, it remains only to get acquainted with its main advantages:

  • excellent maneuverability;
  • cabin comfort;
  • dynamic acceleration;
  • universal characteristics.

With a fairly versatile appearance, the Chevrolet Captiva will be an excellent option for both men and the female half of the world's population. The car is equipped with two gearboxes:

  • 5-speed automatic transmission;
  • 6-speed manual transmission.

Among other things, an important note is also that after the global update in the 2018-2019 Chevrolet Captiva car, not only the appearance, but also the interior design has changed. Thus, each owner of this car can see in some way unique interior details.

Critics singled out the technological elements of the cabin, which include: improved electronics, a significantly increased level of comfort and ease of driving in any conditions.

Specifications

The power performance of the car does not have any claims from both professional critics and ordinary motorists. In existing reviews, new body parts, electronics and powertrains are particularly praised. At the same time, it is worth noting that configurations and prices are highly dependent on technical characteristics.

In addition to the main advantages, less remarkable details also deserve attention, which, although they are boring to the modern consumer, however, fully fulfill their role. This applies, of course, to both the interior of the car and its body.

Internal functionality

As a rule, the 2018-2019 Chevrolet Captiva is an extremely affordable car, which is why even the basic version was endowed with a huge number of options:

  • led lights;
  • air conditioner;
  • updated fog lights;
  • heated seats;
  • excellent audio system;
  • lock with remote control system.

The list of all the functions present is best seen in person by referring to viewing photos on the Internet. You can also get acquainted with the car in detail by watching a video test drive and studying the tables on the official resources of the manufacturer.

External functionality

As for secondary reviews, changes in the appearance of the car are especially positive in them. After restyling, the Chevrolet Captiva, released to the automotive market in 2018, received:

  • modified new body;
  • fog lights with a memorable chrome trim;
  • decorative false radiator grille;
  • updated rear bumper;
  • led lights.

Each of these advantages, combined with high power levels and an incomparable level of comfort, makes the 2018-2019 Chevrolet Captiva ideal for family driving in the city and outside the city.

Power

First of all, it is worth noting that the novelty, as mentioned earlier, can be equipped with both a 5-speed automatic gearbox and a 6-speed manual transmission. Each of the possible power units, when combined with a particular gearbox, provides the driver with unique dynamics.

In total there are three engines of different power, which, in combination with optional extensions, can be installed in certain configurations. It is important to consider here that some power units that are completely identical to each other have different dynamics indicators due to the type of transmission.

The first engine is a 2.2-liter diesel engine with very remarkable performance:

  • power - 184 horsepower;
  • acceleration time to 100 km / h - 9.7 (MT) and 11.0 (AT) seconds;
  • the average fuel consumption for every 100 km is 6.4 (MT) and 7.9 (AT) liters.

This engine is present in the LT and LT+ configurations.

The second engine has a volume of 2.4 liters, runs on gasoline and has the following indicators:

  • power - 167 horsepower;
  • acceleration time to 100 km / h - 11.0 (MT) and 11.1 (AT) seconds;
  • average fuel consumption for every 100 km - 7.9 liters (MT and AT).

This power unit is present in three trim levels at once - LS, LT and LT +.

The third and last power unit requires gasoline to operate, it has a volume of 3.0 liters and provides indicators such as:

  • power - 249 horsepower;
  • acceleration time to 100 km / h - 8.6 seconds;
  • the average fuel consumption for every 100 km is 10.7 liters.

The 3.0-liter engine can only be combined with an automatic transmission and is present in one single LTZ package, which is, in combination, top-end.

Owner's notes

In addition to the advantages, there are some shortcomings. Namely: they note dissatisfaction with the quality of the steering wheel, which remained unchanged after restyling. True, the assembly of the cabin has significantly improved and the safety of both passengers and the driver has slightly increased. Thanks to a spacious interior and a fairly large trunk of 770 liters, the car is indispensable during long trips.

Chevrolet Captiva is an urban SUV with all the makings of a full-fledged SUV and a large list of advantages, including a seven-seater saloon, plug-in all-wheel drive and a solid exterior. Serial production of the car started in 2006, and in 2012 a restyled version was released. Despite the Korean origin, in terms of quality and style, the Chevrolet Captiva is an American SUV, which ensured its high demand in the Russian market.

Specifications Chevrolet Captiva 2008

Russian dealers offer an American SUV with three engines. The most budget is considered a 2.4-liter unit with a capacity of 136 horsepower. The motor is quite high-torque and reliable, but you should not expect incredible dynamics from it. An additional plus of the 2.4L engine in the 2008 Chevrolet Captiva is a small power tax.

The General Motors claimed fuel consumption of this power unit is 10-12 liters in the combined cycle and 8 liters on the highway. In practice, judging by the reviews of the Chevrolet Captiva 2.4 (2008), fuel consumption is much higher: in the city - about 14-16 liters, on the highway - 11.5 liters.

The three-liter engine appeared after the restyling of the SUV, replacing the V6 with a volume of 3.2 liters. Engine power has been increased to 249 horsepower, but at the same time improved efficiency compared to its predecessor. Dynamic performance as a result was improved by 0.2 seconds - up to 100 km / h Chevrolet Captiva 2008 can be dispersed in 8.6 seconds. The maximum speed is limited at around 198 km / h, fuel consumption on the highway is 8.3 liters, in the city - 14.3 liters.

The top version of the engine is a 3.2-liter V6 installed on the pre-styling version of the Chevrolet Captiva 2008 with a capacity of 230 horsepower and a weight of 1770 kilograms. The dynamics of acceleration of the car with such a motor is not bad - 8.8 seconds. For an urban SUV, this indicator is very good and allows you to comfortably move around the streets. Fuel consumption in the city is 18-20 liters, the maximum speed is limited to 198 km/h.

The diesel engine is represented by a 2.2-liter unit with a capacity of 184 horsepower. Up to 100 km / h, the car can be accelerated in 9.6 seconds, the maximum speed is limited at around 191 km / h. Fuel consumption in the city is 17-18 liters, on the highway - 14 liters. The consumption declared by the manufacturer is less: 14.3 liters in the city and 8.3 liters on the highway.

The owners of the Chevrolet Captiva 2008 in the reviews complain about the high fuel consumption and its discrepancy with the manufacturer's declared indicators. However, the problem is solved by installing HBO on the SUV.

Transmission

Chevrolet Captiva is offered with manual and automatic transmissions. A six-speed manual transmission provides smooth ride and throttle response on any trail. Automatic transmission is installed complete with engines of 3 liters and 3.2 liters. An automatic transmission with a 2.4-liter engine is not the best tandem: the transmission slows down a bit, the engine dynamics are enough to maneuver in the city, but Chevrolet Captiva owners note its excessive slowness.

Interior

Chevrolet Captiva 2008 has a roomy and spacious interior. The driver's seat provides a comfortable and comfortable fit, there is a large amount of free space above your head. Passengers in the second row have enough space for boarding and accommodation.

The seats in the cabin are equipped with a wide range of settings: the rear row can be folded in proportions of 60/40, which increases the volume of the luggage compartment and allows you to carry bulky cargo. Additional comfort is provided by the functions of heated seats and lumbar support. In versions of the Chevrolet Captiva 2008 with a seven-seat interior layout, the rear row of seats can be folded in a 50/50 ratio.

The SUV boasts a high quality interior trim. The only drawback, some owners consider the lack of perforation of the seat upholstery, which is not particularly comfortable in the warm season. In budget trim levels, the layout of the cabin is five-seater, but the rear row of seats is designed for only two adult passengers or three children. There is enough free space to accommodate two child car seats and a booster. Modification with a seven-seater layout is somewhat more expensive and less common.

Complete set

Chevrolet Captiva 2008 was produced in several trim levels, differing in equipment packages, technical characteristics and, accordingly, cost. Let's consider them in more detail below.

Modification LS

The basic equipment of the LS is equipped with the ABS anti-slip system, which ensures the stability and safety of the car, the ESP and TSA systems, which are responsible for stabilizing the SUV during skidding. The 2008 Chevrolet Captiva received a high score in crash tests due to front and side airbags. The front seats are equipped with a heating function. The optional equipment package includes a CD player, a six-speaker MP3 audio system, air conditioning and 17-inch alloy wheels.

TS package

This modification is almost identical to the LS version, but is additionally equipped with the ability to adjust the steering column, cruise control, rain sensors, fog lights, rear-view mirror with electrochromic coating. The upholstery of the Chevrolet Captiva 2008 in this configuration is fabric with leather inserts. The steering wheel and gear lever are also trimmed in leather.

Wheels in the LT version are slightly larger than in the LS, there is a sunroof and an electric adjustment of the driver's seat. Interior trim is made in black shades. The rear-view mirrors are heated and electrically adjustable.

Top equipment LTZ

The LTZ modification is equipped in the same way as the previous ones. As additional options, roof rails on the SUV roof, tinted side windows, an audio system with eight speakers and 19-inch wheels are offered.

Chevrolet Captiva Options

Any complete set of Chevrolet Captiva (2018) is equipped with a tow bar that allows you to tow vehicles or transport boats, trailers and motor homes. guarantee smooth and soft movement on rough roads, including when the car is overloaded. Shock absorbers are installed only on the rear axle and are equipped with level sensors.

Front mounted conventional shock absorbers with stiffness settings and level sensors. Repair of the Chevrolet Captiva 2018 suspension will cost the owners a large amount, but at the same time the entire assembly is reliable and has a long working life.

The handbrake is standard for American cars, but it will be somewhat unusual for Russian motorists, since it is represented by a regular button on the dashboard. Cruise control and audio controls are located on the steering wheel, a hallmark of all Chevrolet SUVs.

The tailgate is equipped with an opening glass, so you can throw a small object into the trunk without opening the tailgate itself. The salon is equipped with a small compartment for small things, which has the function of cooling drinks. Many motorists do not know about this characteristic of the Chevrolet Captiva 2008 and have no idea how the function is turned on.

Should I buy a used Chevrolet Captiva?

The minimum cost of the basic configuration of the 2008 Chevrolet Captiva is 950 thousand rubles, which is very expensive for some motorists. The top modification will cost more than two million rubles. The SUV from Chevrolet is distinguished by high reliability and safety, excellent internal equipment and practically does not fail in the first years of operation, judging by the assurances of the owners. The only thing that is required is to regularly change consumables and undergo scheduled technical inspections.

It is difficult to sell a used version of the Chevrolet Captiva due to a strong decrease in value after operation. This is due to the expensive maintenance of used cars and high fuel consumption. In view of this, the cost of a used version of the Chevrolet Captiva is much lower than a new model.

The minimum cost of a 2008 Chevrolet Captiva in the used car market is 450,000 rubles. In the secondary market, you can purchase the top Captiva equipment at a price lower than the cost of a new basic version from official dealers.

Common faults

In the case of the Chevrolet Captiva, the suspension is the most expensive element to maintain and repair. Its structure is pneumatic, the cost of spare parts is too high, the installation process is laborious and complicated. Another weak point of this model is the catalyst, so when buying a car, it is advisable to carry out a full diagnostic inspection in order to avoid breakdowns and costly repairs in the future.

The working life of the stabilizer struts is 30-50 thousand kilometers. They can be replaced under warranty at an official car service. The rest of the problems and malfunctions are not so large-scale and relate mainly to electrical short circuits associated with incorrect operation algorithms and errors. All of them are eliminated in authorized services by experienced craftsmen and specialists.

Key Benefits of Captiva

  • Original, modern and attractive exterior.
  • High quality materials used for interior trim.
  • A range of powerful engines, one of which is a 2.4-liter gasoline unit with a capacity of 160 horsepower and acceleration dynamics of 10 seconds.
  • The security system, represented by front and side airbags, special curtains and three-point seat belts for the rear and front seats.
  • Large luggage compartment with the possibility of increasing it by folding the rear row of seats. This allows you to transport bulky goods.
  • The layout of the car interior is seven-seater: two seats are in front, the other five are in the back.
  • Compact dimensions of the body. Captiva breaks the stereotype that all SUVs have to be huge and heavy. The silhouette of the car is swift and dynamic.
  • Automatic or manual transmission with smooth running and soft shifting.
  • Informative and easy-to-use on-board computer, which greatly facilitates and simplifies driving.

Summary

The main disadvantage of the Chevrolet Captiva, which repels buyers, is the cost of maintenance. However, with proper operation and a careful driving style, the SUV breaks extremely rarely. Chevrolet Captiva does not create any special problems for its owner and is an excellent car for trips with the whole family both in the city and in nature. The reliability, safety and affordable price of both new and used models make the SUV one of the most popular and sought after vehicles.

Captiva is available in four trim levels: LS, LT, LT Plus and LTZ. The basic version includes: 17-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, air conditioning, audio system with radio, CD/MP3 player, 6 speakers and steering wheel audio controls. The LT package includes a tilt and reach steering column, cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift lever, fog lights, rain sensor, electrochromic interior mirror, drawer under the front passenger seat, combined seat upholstery (cloth / leather) . In addition to the above, the LT Plus offers an electric sunroof, headlight washers, 18-inch wheels, power folding exterior mirrors with heating and repeaters, leather upholstery, and an eight-way power driver's seat. The top LTZ package includes 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, tinted rear side windows and rear window, and an 8-speaker audio system. For a surcharge, Captiva can be equipped with an additional row of seats, turning the car from a 5-seater to a 7-seater.

Initially for Russia, the Chevrolet Captiva was sold with two petrol engine options: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder DOHC (136 hp, 220 Nm / 2200 rpm) and a 3.2-liter Alloytec V6 (230 hp, 297 Nm / 3200 rpm). After modernization since 2011, the place of the 3.2-liter engine was taken by a new 3-liter power unit with a capacity of 258 hp. (since 2013 - 249 hp). The power of the 2.4-liter engine, which was equipped with a variable valve timing system, increased to 167 “horses”, and the torque was raised from 220 Nm to 230 Nm, although it moved into the zone of higher speeds. A 2.2 liter diesel engine with 184 hp also appeared. and a maximum torque of 400 Nm, which can please the owner with low fuel consumption (6.6 liters per 100 km).

The front suspension of the Chevrolet Captiva is independent, McPherson type. The rear is semi-independent in the LS configuration and independent multi-link in the LT. In the process of a global update of the model, some suspension units were modernized, in particular, shock absorbers with different characteristics, new vibration dampers and silent blocks were installed. All this made the behavior of Captiva more balanced and improved handling. The all-wheel drive of the car is connected automatically using an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. Hill-descent and hill-descent assistance systems make driving easier in difficult situations. The declared ground clearance of 200 mm, which sometimes appears in the characteristics, actually turns into real 160-180 mm, which, of course, is not enough for a real SUV, but it is quite enough for most everyday situations.

The car is equipped with a steel frame and has zones with a programmed deformation that absorb impact energy. In addition, the updated Captiva is equipped with ABS with EBV Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, ESC Dynamic Stability Control, HBA hydraulic brake booster, DCS Hill Descent Control and ARP. The standard equipment includes six airbags - two front and two side, designed to protect the driver and front passenger - and in addition - two curtain airbags to protect against side impact and second-row passengers. As well as three-point seat belts with pretensioners and child seat anchors.

As soon as it appeared on the market, Chevrolet Captiva immediately "staken out" a place in the category "a lot of car for reasonable money." However, time has made its own adjustments - at the time of the crisis, small localization created problems with pricing. And this despite the fact that Captiva is an excellent option for the "golden mean", especially after modernization - a roomy, economical, comfortable car with excellent equipment. However, thanks to the well-deserved popularity at the time, the car is well represented in the secondary market.
