Renault sandero 1st generation. Budget hatchback Renault Sandero

Renault sandero 1st generation. Budget hatchback Renault Sandero

02.07.2020

Maybe my review will help someone. I will try to describe everything as objectively as possible.

A little about myself: driving experience 2.5 years, mileage about 100 thousand km. across the expanses of our homeland and its capital. The first car VAZ 2115i 2005 was bought in 2008, sold in 2010, skated for 1.5 years (70,000 km). I took the first car for reasons that it should be a VAZ on a front-wheel drive, and inexpensively (because, IMHO, when you learn to drive a VAZ, you struggle not only with the road, but also with the car). Then in the spring of 2010 puzzled by the question of buying a new car. The requirements were as follows: the maximum of a new car for a minimum of money. Choose from the following options: KIA Rio, Priora, Logan-Sandero. There was no Polo sedan then, so I probably would have taken it.

I was not too lazy to go for a test drive of everyone: in Priora, apart from the cheerful engine, I didn’t like anything. The Rio is a really good car, and the motors are well driven, and the finish is at a very decent level, but the price tag .... left much to be desired. So, Sandero: the first thing I liked was a huge salon by the standards of "B" class, a high seating position, after Sandero I don’t get into all other cars, but actually fall into a chair. I chose an intermediate configuration with a hydraulic, front power windows and something else (in short, Expression), 1.4 (75 mares), the issue price is 330 thousand rubles. + CASCO + OSAGO 37,000 (since a loan), total 367,000 rubles. Eight-valve 1.6 was not considered in principle, because rides not much better than 1.4, but eats with great appetite (more than 1.6 16v), did not count on anything more, because finances didn’t even sing romances, but probably already serenades ...

So, about the car: after the tag (with a new hodovka) from the suspension of the Sandera there was just a puppy delight (I still can’t drive in our brands), awesome energy intensity, there are rolls in fast turns, but not critical, for the city the base motor is more than enough , but there is not enough on the track, and in order to overtake trucks that drive 80, you have to stick the 3rd one, while the motor spins merrily up to 5500 (the limiter works at about 6000) rpm and accelerates to 120, the roar is serious, but not critical, maximum clocked up to 180 (according to the speedometer) on the Moscow Ring Road, you can really comfortably drive 140, more scary.

Reliability - for 30,000 km. not a single breakdown, it works and starts like clockwork (this winter, it was -38 at night, it started up with half a turn), the only thing I changed was the bulbs in the headlights and the central brake light.Consumption: I measured a full tank in the bay, correlating it with mileage, a 55l AI-92 tank, went to the village, 515 km from house to house, refueled upon arrival, fit 28 liters with a penny, respectively, the average consumption on the highway is 5.2l / 100 km, the city by the same method (with traffic jams, etc.) - 7.5-8.5. I would like to note that with this mini-motor I have never felt myself defective in the city.

So, what else ... yes, for 30,000 km. 1 cricket in the area of the right window lifter, transported all the country belongings on it for 1 time, when they dumped everything near the entrance, the dumped heap visually exceeded more than half of the car, also transported tiles for repairing the bathroom (about 450 kg) at a time, neatly, but arrived . In general, for the money that I bought a year ago, it was the most honest offer on the market in terms of maximum car for minimum money.

Which appeared in our country under the hood of the second generation Renault Sandero is not new. A gasoline, atmospheric, 4-cylinder in-line, 16-valve engine with a working volume of 1.2 liters has already been installed on the Clio, Kangoo, Symbol ... The new Sandero engine with a capacity of 75 hp. has a factory name Renault D4F 1.2 16V. Its progenitor was the 8-valve D7F, of the same volume with a power of 59 hp, which was discontinued back in 2000.

engine block Renault Sandero 1.2 cast iron, aluminum block head. The very design of the 16-valve mechanism is interesting. Oddly enough, but the camshaft located on top is only one. The timing drive itself has belt. A schematic representation of the design of this engine is below.

Actually, the camshaft of the 1.2 engine, through the original design of dual roller rockers, opens the valves in pairs. That is, instead of one valve, the designers decided to install two small valves, it was this device that made the engine more powerful and economical. A photo of the cylinder head of the Renault Sandero 1.2 engine in disassembled form is below in the photo.

The tubes that stick out of the head of the block are the wells for the candles, that's where they are screwed. Usually in 16-valve engines with 2 camshafts there are hydraulic lifters that automatically adjust the valve clearance. There is only one camshaft and the thermal clearance of the valves must be adjusted manually, approximately every 80 thousand kilometers. The timing belt is replaced every 100-120 thousand kilometers.

Engine Renault Sandero 1.2 16V 75 hp (model D4F) characteristics, fuel consumption, dynamics

  • Working volume - 1149 cm3
  • Number of cylinders - 4
  • Number of valves - 16
  • Cylinder diameter - 69.0 mm
  • Stroke - 76.8 mm
  • Power hp / kW - 75/55 at 5500 rpm
  • Torque - 107 Nm at 4250 rpm
  • Maximum speed - 156 kilometers per hour
  • Acceleration to the first hundred - 14.5 seconds
  • Fuel consumption in the city - 7.7 liters
  • Fuel consumption in the combined cycle - 6 liters
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - 5.1 liters

The main advantage of this engine is low fuel consumption. In addition, the cost of production of this motor is not high, therefore, as a base engine for a budget car, the power unit fits perfectly. However, it is worth noting that the dynamics of the Logan / Sandero 1.2 engine are modest to say the least.

Surely every present or future car owner is interested in possible weaknesses and shortcomings of his present or future car. Therefore, this material is intended for those whose soul fell on such a car as the first generation Renault Sandero. Of course, at first glance, this car has an attractive design and price, but Sandero still has its weaknesses, illnesses and shortcomings, which not only the present owner, but also the future one needs to know about when buying.

* - data are specified depending on the configuration.

What are the advantages of Sandero I:

  1. Fuel efficiency;
  2. High reliability;
  3. Unpretentiousness;
  4. maintainability;
  5. Low cost of both the car itself and spare parts for it;
  6. Corrosion resistance;
  7. High ground clearance;
  8. Strong running gear.

Weaknesses of Renault Sandero 1st generation:

  • Paintwork;
  • Cooling system;
  • automatic transmission;
  • Exhaust system;
  • power steering sensor;
  • High voltage wires;

In this case, it is certainly impossible to call the paintwork a weak point of this car, but a factory defect. This is very common on the roof of a car in the form of pitting. But few people pay attention to this or simply do not know. But this is an occasion to bargain with the seller when buying this car. Perhaps he himself does not know about such defects in his car.

Of course, one cannot and should not say that the entire system in this car is defective, from the radiator to the pipes, etc. The weak point in the cooling system is the thermostat. Most of the owners of these cars already in the first years of operation faced the failure of the thermostat, and with low mileage.

This problem, as is already clear, often occurs on cars with automatic transmission. And it is impossible to name specific weaknesses of the automatic transmission, namely the entire box is weak and prone to overheating. Sometimes it happens that with a run of less than one hundred thousand with a box, problems arose due to overheating, and accordingly, if the car was under warranty, contact the officials, and if not, then invest a pretty penny. It can also be noted that troubles may arise with the automatic transmission control unit. This problem is felt in the movement of the car, namely before switching 3 or 4 gears. In this case, the engine speed is reset, and then vice versa and, accordingly, switching to a higher gear. And in general, you should pay attention that when buying any car, you need to make a test run and feel, listen, and see how the car behaves.

Exhaust system.

Why can the exhaust system be called a sore point, because it is subject to corrosion and quickly rusts and rots. Of course, we can say that this “jamb” is found on most cars, but it is on this particular nuance that special attention is paid. Logically, this can only be explained by the quality of iron and poor corrosion protection. In any case, when buying a used car, this moment cannot be ignored.

The essence of the problem is that very often the owners of Renault Sandero I encounter such a phenomenon as fluid leaks in the area of \u200b\u200bthis sensor. This happens due to the extrusion of the sensor under pressure and, accordingly, the loss of fluid and the problem with the power steering as a whole. This is not a critical problem, but quite common.

High voltage wires.

In this case, high-voltage wires present quite a few problems for car owners. The point is that on this car, high-voltage spark plug wires are of poor quality. And the most important thing is that this can be called not only a weak point, but even a factory flaw. It affects primarily the behavior of the machine. The car starts to twitch while driving, and this, in turn, indicates that the high-voltage spark plug wires are breaking through. This is mainly due to dampness. But again, it is necessary to pay attention that this is due to the low quality of high-voltage wires.

Steering column turn switch.

Many Sandero owners complain that after several years of active use, one or more signal wires on the turn signal switch break, making it impossible to turn on the turn signals. This issue can only be resolved by a complete replacement of the assembly, or by re-soldering the wiring.

The main disadvantages of Renault Sandero 2007-2012 release:

  • Many owners complain about fuel consumption higher than stated;
  • When you turn on the air conditioner, the engine loses a lot of power;
  • The inconvenient location of the spare wheel, which makes it very difficult to replace it;
  • Mudguards are very poorly fixed from the factory, as a result of which they constantly strive to fall off;
  • Low beam and high beam bulbs often burn out;
  • The interior does not retain heat well;
  • Uninformative clutch pedal, located in such a way that when it is squeezed out, you have to keep your foot on weight;
  • Low level of safety in case of an accident;
  • Material quality. Hard plastic scratches easily;
  • Weak soundproofing. Although there are few cars with good sound insulation, it is necessary to mention this drawback;
  • Windshield wipers on Renault Sandero are also a disadvantage. The essence of this drawback is that the wipers are very short, and this affects the driver's visibility;
  • Weak dynamics. This is not surprising, because these cars do not have the most powerful engines;
  • Fuel gauge. It is also a disadvantage due to its defectiveness. Quite often there are moments with an incorrect display of the real amount of fuel;
  • Simple interior design;
  • Small trunk volume;
  • Manual transmission is also a disadvantage, not a weak point, as so many car owners have experienced knocking when shifting gears. But this is not a sign of failure of the manual transmission, but the typical operation of the box.
  • Ergonomic flaws. Each owner of a Sandero car will definitely find something not convenient for himself. And there is no middle ground;
  • Crickets in the cabin and in particular the side windows.

Summarize.

In conclusion, we can say that each car has its own weaknesses and shortcomings. And, of course, Renault Sandero has more pluses than minuses, but the choice of which gearbox and engine to buy a car with should be approached with a thorough analysis, weighing all the pros and cons. Also, you should not expect unsurpassed comfort and a high level of equipment from this car, because it belongs to the ultra budget class. Oddly enough, many people forget about this and begin to harass the poor car for nothing, not noticing its obvious advantages.

Weaknesses and typical shortcomings of Renault Sandero 1st generation with mileage was last modified: January 24th, 2019 by Administrator

Good day! So I am ripe for writing a review about owning a car that we produce under the Renault Sandero brand.

Before buying, he owned a tired "nine", in which something flew periodically, but always brought it home. Thanks for that! In official use were: VAZ 2104, Citroen Berlingo 1, GAZ Sobol, Daewoo Nexia, Passat B7, Hyundai Getz.

By what criteria did you choose:

New, because I don't want to buy a pig in a poke. Needed under me, not in the garage.

The car is needed to work and move from point A to point B, therefore no complaints.

Limited budget of 400± tr.

Reliable, unpretentious.

Do-it-yourself serviceable, inexpensive consumables and spare parts.

Body type sedan or 5-door hatch, as transportation of oversized cargo and passengers. Now of course I'm thinking about the car.

So, I went to the salons, like Rabinovich in the shops in a joke, asking the price, studying the market. Considering this or that option, I read reviews on the net and talked with experienced people. Considered: Priora, Logan, Nexia, Accent, Lacetti. Grant came out, but, according to reviews, it was still raw.

So, briefly about the impressions of the reviewed cars:

Nexia. Not satisfied with the poor quality of iron. According to the stories, the deterioration of the build quality in recent years. Weak alternator and pump.

Priora. Normal appearance. Restyling 10 family. About the squeaks and crickets of the cabin, everything has long been said. Small dirty tricks - all passed on 9-ke. By reliability. Fifty fifty. Maybe in 15 minutes you will return to the cabin, or maybe in three or four years, the flight is normal, unless of course you will not kill.

These 50 to 50 fell out in the cabin when viewing, when at first the driver's seat refused to move, and then the engine did not start at all.

Accent. Simple strict appearance, no raisins. Reliable suspension. Taxi drivers are happy. The only thing is low landing, although many people like it. True and the price is under 500 and above.

What about the presence in the salons? Out of stock, there is some kind of perturbation at the plant, production is suspended and it is not known whether it will resume. It's a pity. By the way, I heard that they are produced and sold in Rostov-on-Don to this day.

Logan. For some reason, the appearance did not evoke any emotions. To put it mildly, an amateur. Large spacious interior, high seating position, ascetic panel made of oak plastic, which looks more like a panel from previous generations of commercial "pies".

I had heard a lot about the quality of the suspension and the reliability of the units, but I also knew that he would not be able to please with any dynamics.

Lacetti at that time was already out of production, there were leftovers in minced meat for sale at inflated prices for me. Yes, and it turned out later, the last batch could not boast of build quality.

In short, without departing far from loganoid, the choice fell on the Renault Sandero. It seemed the most optimal for me in terms of requirements and suitable for money, of the cars I was considering.

What is, is, will do for the cause. The car cost completely for 405,000 rubles. This amount included: installation of fender liner with mudguards, radiator protection, music, alarm, front power windows. In fact, they've already been installed.

Bypassing the story about the work of the salon managers and the purchase, I will move on to the impressions from the operation of this unit.

Impression

The interior of the car is spacious. Plenty of room above your head and on the sides. There is enough space in front for two large men. When driving a manual transmission stick, you do not touch the elbow and knee of the passenger. Behind, three people of average build fit quite well.

Landing on the seats is high, which for me, in principle, is a plus. I will not say anything about the convenience of the seats, the lower back begins to buzz after 1.5 - 2 hours of travel. You sit and fidget constantly, trying to find a comfortable position. Partially solved the problem by throwing a massager on the chair. Lateral support is weak.

The trunk is moderately roomy. Two "dreams of the occupier" can be crammed and plus the little things. The back of the rear seat folds down completely. Having folded the back of the rear seat, they could fit a washer, a couple of cases with tools, two-meter polypropylene pipes.

Visibility is not bad. However, the wide A-pillars are a little uncomfortable when turning around. With mirrors, namely the right one, things are worse. They are too small for a wide cabin. If you can still turn your head when parking, then when changing lanes in heavy traffic on the highway, it causes some inconvenience. To help install a more panoramic interior mirror.

The interior, as already noted, is Logan's, taken from commercial "pies" of previous generations. The panel is made clumsily of oak plastic. At first glance, there is no ergonomics, however, having driven, I quickly got used to it. The signal is on the handle of the turn signals, it does not cause inconvenience. As for the plastic squeaks, I’ll say that they appear in the cold in winter, especially the knock of the electrical wiring pads.

In the summer, I didn’t notice anything criminal, unless, of course, I rush along a road that was broken into rubbish. Steering wheel with power steering, tilt adjustable. When you turn on the turn signal, both indicators light up - what's the catch, I don't understand. Noise isolation is weak.

Operation in winter. The oven is good. In general, the car warms up quickly. But here the windshield is blown at one point. We have to help with a scraper, cleaning off the partially thawed ice. The rear window is electrically heated. The factory wiper blades are crap, they leave snot (especially the driver's one). Replaced.

About the dynamics of the car to write, I think, it makes little sense, everyone knows everything. Boiled. The only thing, having swept around the city on a 16-valve Logan, did not notice much difference from his own. I won’t talk about behavior on the track - I haven’t tried it.

Fuel consumption was not measured. But according to the sensations, despite the volume, he eats with appetite. Perhaps the driving style affects, but there is no goal to monitor the economy, instead of the traffic situation. Between 92 and 95 I did not notice much difference in dynamics.

The box is mechanical, 5-speed. First gear is short. The feeling that it is intended only to get under way. But the sixth is asking. What morality the designers used is not clear. Gears are stuck with some effort. People note that this is treated by replacing native oil.

As far as clarity, I have no complaints. Clutch adjusted to fit. Moreover, the assemblers forgot to put the locknut. Corrected.

Suspension is soft, swallows all the bumps. Driving down the country road is a pleasure. However, with all this, when entering the turn felt valkost. On the highway, it accelerated to 130. The feeling that you are about to take off. Next is scary. When rebuilding on the track at speed, the car has to be caught.

Light. I will rate my native light at four with a minus. In principle, of course, you won’t be able to poke around like a blind man, but on unlit sections of the route you would need more help. For three years, there were no problems with the burnout of light bulbs.

About maintenance. I do my own car maintenance. Liquid pour specified by the manufacturer. In the fall of that year, I stumbled upon the fogging of the left inner CV joint. Having rummaged through the forums, I found that the sore is common. The people on the forums walk with boiling water, what needs to be changed and better assembled with a drive.

The guys from the base advised me to keep an eye on the oil in the box, and if there are smudges on the drive, then change it. It is known from experience that new ones will not keep you waiting long either. By the way, about the oil level in the box - why the dipstick is not provided, it is not clear.

By the way, after detecting fogging, I added 200 ml of oil to the box. After that, after six months of operation, the same amount of oil remained in the box. There was an opinion that it was possible to underfill from the factory, because. I didn't see any leaks anywhere.

Yes, I would also like to draw the attention of the owners to checking the tightness of the air filter mounting bolts. There is such a jamb that they like to unwind and get lost over time. I put them on the growers.

When replacing candles, deep candle wells are inconvenient. Namely, the dirt accumulated in them, which has to be picked off with an awl and blown out with a compressor. It is better to purchase a long candlestick in advance so that the collar does not cling to anything.

In September, in the plans for maintenance, I want to clean the throttle, clean the IAC and replace the o-ring, because. Lately I've noticed a slight fluctuation in RPM's. Air leaks are possible.

Well, in general, for now, probably, everything. Anything else that comes to mind, I'll be sure to add. I tried to write an unbiased review based on my own impressions of the operation.

Outcome

Summing up, I want to say that the car copes with the tasks assigned to it, I did not expect anything more from it. For the money, at the time of purchase, I did not find an alternative for myself. In the future, of course, I am considering a minivan, but the crisis ... It is not known what will happen next.

Sales market: Russia.

Renault Sandero is a five-door hatchback based on the Logan chassis, which is not formally part of the Logan family. It has an intrafactory index B90. It differs in a different appearance, solved in the spirit of Renault Scenic, and a wheelbase shortened to 2591 mm. At the same time, Sandero is 230 mm shorter than Logan. This is noticeable not only in the back row, but also in the more modest volume of the luggage compartment. And yet Sandero has quite sufficient capacity - 320 liters of trunk with a fully folded rear seat increases to 1200 liters. To save passenger space in the rear, the rear seatback can be folded in parts (except for the basic version). Since December 2009, Sandero has been produced for the Russian market in Moscow at the Avtoframos plant. Start of sales in Russia - from March 1, 2010. The car is presented in a wide variety of trim levels, in modifications with gasoline engines of different power and volume (1.4 l and 1.6 l) and two types of transmission - "mechanics" or "automatic" .

In the basic Authentique configuration, the car offers halogen headlights, fabric upholstery, an indivisible rear seat back (it reclines entirely), a full-size spare tire, in addition, there is rear window heating, engine crankcase protection, and for an extra charge it was possible to retrofit the car with hydraulic booster. In the top version, Sandero has chrome trim on the radiator grille, chrome door handles and interior details, body-color mirrors, front door sills with Renault stamping, on-board computer, air conditioning, driver's seat height adjustment, front and rear power windows, heated front seats and leather steering wheel.

Under the hood of Renault Sandero are four-cylinder petrol injection engines of 1.4 and 1.6 liters. The base engine is an 8-valve 1.4-liter K7J series (SOHC). It develops a maximum power of 75 hp. and is equipped with a 5-speed "mechanics". The maximum speed of the car is 162 km / h, acceleration to 100 km / h in 13 seconds, the average fuel consumption is 6.9 l / 100 km. A more powerful eight-valve 1.6-liter K7M (SOHC) engine differs from the 1.4-liter only in displacement, which is achieved by increasing the piston stroke. This engine produces 84 hp. power, maximum vehicle speed - 175 km / h, acceleration to 100 km / h in 11.5 seconds, average fuel consumption of 7.3 l / 100 km. The most powerful modification has a 1.6-liter 1.6-liter power unit of the K4M series (DOHC). This engine paired with the “mechanics” is configured to deliver 102 hp, the maximum speed of the car is 180 km / h, acceleration to 100 km / h in 10.5 seconds, and the average fuel consumption is 7.1 l / 100 km. Modification of the same engine with an automatic transmission produces a maximum power of 105 hp, the maximum speed of the car is 175 km/h, acceleration to 100 km/h in 11.7 seconds, the average fuel consumption is 8.4 l/100 km.

Chassis Sandero almost does not differ from the "Logan". The front suspension is McPherson wishbones. Rear - spring-loaded torsion beam (semi-independent suspension). The front brakes are ventilated disc, rear - drum. As standard, the car gets 185/70 R14 wheels on stamped rims. More expensive versions have 185/65 R15 on aluminum rims. Decent ground clearance and minimal overhangs provide high cross-country ability for a conventional front-wheel drive car. A small turning radius makes it easy to maneuver in cramped urban environments.

In terms of safety, Sandero is already in the base equipped with a driver's pillow, an Isofix child seat mounting system in the back seat. The body has a strong frame and programmed deformation zones. More expensive versions can be equipped with anti-lock brakes (ABS) and brake force distribution (EBD), which guarantee a short braking distance and effective vehicle stability.

It is worth noting that at the time of its appearance on the market, Renault Sandero occupied a niche that had actually been empty before. Quite dynamic (especially in the version with a 16-valve 1.6-liter engine), with excellent geometric cross-country performance, this economical and inexpensive B-segment hatchback is perfectly adapted to Russian operating conditions. Borrowed from Logan, the simplicity of design, the conciseness of the interior turn into both undeniable advantages and disadvantages inherent in all budget-class cars.
