➕ Comfortable interior
➕ Noise isolation

The advantages and disadvantages of the 2018-2019 Volkswagen Tiguan in a new body are identified based on feedback from real owners. More detailed pros and cons of Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4 (150 and 125 hp) and 2.0 with mechanics and DSG robot, as well as 2.0 diesel with front-wheel drive and 4x4 all-wheel drive can be found in the stories below:

Owner reviews

In a car for 1.5 million, the button to open the 5th door completely froze (this is at -2 degrees), and condensation formed in the rear lights. At the same time, fogging of both lights is not a warranty case (for removing and installing the lights and drying them on the battery for 5 hours, the officials billed 1,800 rubles). This is German quality...

Gasoline consumption of the new Tiguan (automatic, 2.0 l) in winter, when driving vegetables, did not fall below 16.5 l / 100 km. And this is after a competent break-in (no more than 2,000 rpm for 1,500 km).

Liked: handling, comfort, dynamics, Shumka.

Did not like: fuel consumption, no USB input on the head unit.

Video review

Here they write about the steering wheel, usb, etc. - this is all nonsense. The main drawback of the new Volkswagen Tiguan 2 is the fuel consumption of 15-16 liters ... If this is not stressful for you, then I kindly envy you.

In all other respects, the perfect crossover for the city. Optimal price-quality ratio. For six months of intense use, no questions.

Sergey Krel drives Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 (180 hp) AWD DSG 2016

We have been driving the new VW Tiguan 2 since March 2016. The equipment is CLUB. The first maintenance was carried out at 11 thousand km, i.e. before the prescribed 15 thousand. By the way, all VW dealers have a promotion on Sundays - a 20% discount on maintenance. Before passing the maintenance, they filled 95, periodically there was some kind of whistle for a few seconds when the engine was started, then it disappeared, the speed dropped to 0.8 in two minutes. Passed MOT — everything is OK, changed the oil, filters.

They asked about the whistle, no one answered intelligibly. We live in the Crimea, 98 gasoline has been imported to us since September. We switched to it. And a miracle - the whistle disappeared, the speed after starting the engine falls in 10-15 seconds. The car is frisky, the turbine turns on when the driver needs it, i.e. when overtaking in low gear and helps a lot.

Noise isolation is good. When we bought, we were frightened by oil consumption — nothing like that. There were practically no expenses. In general, comfortable, dignified, crossover))

Consumption on the highway - 5.4-6.0, city - 8-10, up to 11 - if there are traffic jams. There is a good function - Autohold - keeps the car on the descent and ascent, like a handbrake, when you need to move off, you press the gas pedal and there is no rolling back at all.

Accelerates well and briskly, holds the track steadily. The speed of 120-130 km / h is not felt. Didn't like the upholstery. The fabric could be better.

Irina, review of the Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4 (125 hp) mechanics in 2016

Very comfortable car, dynamic and economical, stylish and modern. A daily trip turns into a pleasure for the whole family. For 30 years of driving, I changed 10 cars - the Tiguan did not disappoint. Of the shortcomings, I will only note that the seat upholstery material could be better.

Marina drives a Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4 (150 HP) AWD DSG 2017

Where can I buy?

The car was bought in the spring of 2017. I had three main requirements: diesel, webasto and bumper off road. I bought this one - Comfortline equipment + six option packages.

I often go to nature (fishing, mushrooms), so I decided to change the BMW sedan to something higher. In principle, I am satisfied with the replacement, but, as they say, there are nuances. After the purchase, I pasted over the entire front of the car with a film (I drive fast and sometimes far, and the headlights and paint become cloudy in a couple of years). I installed a mesh in the bumper - the radiators look painfully defenseless))

LED headlights, especially at night and in the rain — it's class! I also liked the strips of LED lighting in the doors and thresholds, it’s cozy.

I do not like the fabric upholstery on the doors - it quickly gets dirty. For some reason, several electrical connectors were placed under the neck of the windshield washer reservoir - if you miss a little, liquid gets on them. In some modes, the rearview mirror shakes and vibrates. Dipped beam — well, very close.

Review of Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 diesel (150 hp) with robot and all-wheel drive 2017

The car is purely masculine in design, strict, as my friend says: “not very pontovitaya and not very simple, spectacular — that is, the golden mean.” I fully agree with him.

In 2017, a new German crossover Volkswagen Tiguan of the second generation will go on sale on the Russian market, which has significantly increased in size compared to its predecessor. It should be noted that the first generation Tiguan was in great demand in Russia due to its excellent handling, attractive design, good off-road capabilities due to the all-wheel drive system based on the Haldex clutch, as well as best-in-class cabin ergonomics. But the crossover also had its drawbacks, which include modest dimensions, a cramped interior, a small trunk and modest ground clearance.

Differences between the new 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan and the old one

Like any new car, the Tiguan has grown significantly in size compared to the previous version. Thanks to the modular MQB transverse platform, the engineers managed to increase the wheelbase, free space in the cabin and the volume of the luggage compartment.

New dimensions (predecessor dimensions):

  • Length - 4 486 mm (4 426 mm);
  • Width - 1,839 mm (1,809 mm);
  • Height - 1,673 mm (1,703 mm);
  • Wheelbase - 2677 mm (2604 mm).

Tiguan 2017 model year exceeds the old version by 73 mm in wheelbase length, 30 mm in width, 60 mm in length, the volume of the luggage compartment has increased by 145 liters (from 470 to 615 liters). It is also worth noting that the crossover will be available in a seven-seater version, although it is not yet known whether the seven-seater Tiguan will be sold in Russia. But in terms of height, the predecessor surpasses the novelty by 30 mm, but despite this, the cabin of the second generation is noticeably more spacious. As for the ground clearance, it has increased from 189 mm to 200 mm.

In terms of interior and exterior design, as you can see from the photos, the car received:

  • another grille;
  • new modern front and rear optics;
  • new front and rear bumper;
  • new design alloy wheels (215/65/R17, 235/55/R18, 235/50/R19, 235/45/R20);
  • more interesting body design with all kinds of stampings;
  • design of air duct deflectors;
  • different climate control;
  • new instrument panel;
  • new finishing materials and colors.

All these improvements have affected the price, unfortunately all new Volkswagen models can hardly be called a “people's car”, and the manufacturers themselves say that they are striving to get closer to premium brands. Now the title of “people's car” has migrated to Skoda cars.

Specifications

Engine

The second generation of the German crossover is represented on the Russian market by two gasoline and one diesel power units of different capacities (you can read more about the available engines and transmissions by clicking here). For the review, we decided to take, in our opinion, the most optimal version with a 2.0 TSI with a capacity of 180 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque.

Transmission

With a 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine, a wet clutch DSG-7 is offered as a transmission. Immediately, we note that this gearbox is, which is also installed on Audi sports models, such as RS 3 and RS Q3 and TT RS. The stock DQ500 is capable of withstanding 600 Nm of torque.

The most unreliable robot is considered to be a seven-speed DSG with a dry clutch DQ200 manufactured by LuK. This robotic transmission is capable of withstanding up to 250 Nm of torque and is installed on front-wheel drive cars of the VAG brand. Most of the complaints were caused by the first generation of transmissions installed on the Volkswagen Passat. One of the main problems was the failure of mechatronics.

All-wheel drive system

The fifth-generation Haldex clutch is responsible for all-wheel drive, which, in the event of wheel slip, redistributes torque almost instantly. Recall that Tiguan has front-wheel drive, which can significantly save fuel consumption, and all-wheel drive is switched on only forcibly or automatically if necessary. What's more, the crossover perfectly demonstrates its 4MOTION capabilities on light off-road terrain, with Electronic Differential Lock (EDS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) acting as a lateral wheel lock.

All this allows you to disperse a car weighing 1,653 kg from 0 to 100 km / h. in 7.7 seconds, you must agree, good performance, not every sedan or hatchback will be able to demonstrate such an impressive acceleration from a standstill. The maximum speed of the Tiguan in this configuration is 210 km/h. Another impressive indicator is fuel consumption (AI-95);

  • urban cycle - 10.8 liters;
  • track - 6.4 liters;
  • mixed - 8 liters.

these indicators are declared by the manufacturer, for the most part fuel consumption depends on your driving style and traffic congestion.

Price in Russia

Potential owners will be offered two configurations to choose from:

comfort line

  • 2.0 180 HP 4motion - 1,909,000 rubles;

Highline

  • 2.0 180 HP 4motion - 2,069,000 rubles;

The difference between these two trim levels is that the richer one will include a tire pressure sensor, an electric trunk lid, an electrically heated windshield, a combined interior, door sills and R18 alloy wheels.

The main competitors of the second generation Tiguan in the Russian market can be considered such cars as:

  • KIA Sportage with a 1.6-liter petrol turbo engine, all-wheel drive and a DCT robotic transmission, costing 2,084,900 rubles;
  • a new Ford Kuga with a 1.5-liter petrol turbo engine, all-wheel drive and an automatic 6-speed transmission, costing from 1,769,000 rubles;
  • Honda CR-V with 2.0 liter engine, 5-speed automatic, all-wheel drive. The price of a car is from 1,769,900 rubles.
  • Mazda CX-5 with 2.5 liter engine, all-wheel drive and 6-speed automatic transmission. Price from 1,750,000 rubles;
  • Toyota RAV4 with 2.5 petrol engine, six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. Price from 1,850,000 rubles;

Unlike all of the above competitors, with the exception of the crossover, the representative of the German school gives better handling, better dynamic performance and, most importantly, significantly lower fuel consumption.

To summarize, the second generation got rid of all the shortcomings of the first generation, became much more technologically advanced and as close as possible to the premium segment. Unfortunately, all of these upgrades have significantly increased the cost of the car, let's see if the 2017 Tiguan can become the leader in the mid-size crossover segment and show as strong sales as the previous generation.

The new German crossover Volkswagen Tiguan 2016-2017 of the 2nd generation was officially presented on September 14, 2015 in Frankfurt as part of. The German company Volkswagen AG has prepared for public demonstration at a car show not only the serial crossover Volkswagen Tiguan 2016-2017 model year, but also the future hybrid version of the model - with a 218-horsepower hybrid installation (we will devote a separate review to the hybrid version of the new Tiguan). The start of sales of the new Volkswagen Tiguan in Europe will be in April-May 2016, in Russia it will be possible to buy a Volkswagen Tiguan 2016-2017 towards the end of next year. According to preliminary information, price new generation crossover Tiguan in 2016 will be from 26.5 million euros.

The German manufacturer, having released in 2007, hit right on target, the model became a real bestseller. During production, the first Tiguan sold over 2,640,000 copies around the world, in Germany alone over the past 2014, more than 62,000 Volkswagen Tiguan of the first generation were sold. So the new model of a compact crossover simply has to be no worse than its predecessor, or rather better, better, and better again.
The second Tiguan is built on the latest MQB modular platform. The new modular bogie will allow engineers to slightly stretch the crossover platform in the future and launch a seven-seater version into mass production -. Also, the platform is able to accommodate the hybrid power plant and batteries, which will allow the production of the Volkswagen Tiguan GTE hybrid.
The new bogie, in addition to the above advantages, made it possible to reduce the curb weight of the new generation of the crossover by 50 kg compared to its predecessor, and this with an increased body size of 60 mm in length and 30 mm in width. At the same time, the height has become less by 33 mm, the front and rear overhangs of the body have decreased, and the wheelbase, on the contrary, has increased by as much as 77 mm.

  • As a result, the external dimensions of the body of the second generation Volkswagen Tiguan 2016-2017 are 4486 mm long, 1839 mm wide, 1632 mm high, with a 2681 mm wheelbase and 200 mm ground clearance (clearance).

As before, the new generation Tiguan is offered to the buyer in four versions, two of which "Trend & Fun" and "Sport & Style" are sharpened for movement on asphalt, and a pair of "Track & Field" and "Track & Style" will provide confident movement on dirt roads due to an additional off-road front bumper package that provides an approach angle of 25.6 degrees (with a standard bumper 18.3 degrees), an exit angle for all versions of 24.7 degrees.

Motorists will have access to the new Volkswagen Tiguan in the R-Line version (the crossover is shown in the photo with a white body color), the model is equipped with sports bumpers with aerodynamic skirts and door sills, huge wheels for a compact crossover with 19-20 inch rims and a large spoiler over tailgate.
The exterior design of the body of the second generation of the compact German Tiguan crossover can be safely called revolutionary, especially with an eye to the fact that we have a model from the Volkswagen line. The novelty received a strict, solid and modern “suit”, first tried on by concepts and. In the presence of compact rectangles of LED headlights, stylishly emphasizing the narrow false radiator grille, a solid hood plane with charismatic longitudinal ribs (the hood is active and in the event of a collision with a pedestrian or cyclist rises and minimizes the risk of injury), the original front bumper with sections of additional air intakes and low-lying foglights are the face of the crossover.
On the side, the body of the novelty demonstrates the straightness and severity of the lines inherent in modern Volkswagen AG models, complemented by huge circular arches with powerful stampings and characteristic ribs decorating the sidewalls of the body.
The rear of the crossover attracts with stylish marker lights with LED filling, an original tailgate with bizarre contours.
The official video and photo materials posted in the gallery will tell you more colorfully about the appearance of the novelty, as well as about the interior design of the second generation Volkswagen Tiguan.
We propose to focus on the increased dimensions of the interior and trunk of the new crossover, on modern equipment, safety and comfort systems.

The increase in the size of the wheelbase and the correct use of interior space during the creation of the 2nd generation Tiguan made it possible to achieve an increase in the overall length of the cabin compared to the previous generation of the model by 26 mm, and the rear passengers received an increase of 29 mm in the knee area. Separate seats of the second row, in addition to step-by-step adjustment of the backrest in terms of tilt, are able to move along the cabin by 180 mm, thus increasing the free legroom or the dimensions of the trunk.

  • The luggage compartment allows you to place from 615 liters in the presence of five people in the cabin to 1655 liters, subject to the addition of the rear seats. If you need to transport long loads, you can fold forward the backrest of the front passenger seat.

The new Tiguan will please motorists with a super modern set of standard and optional equipment.
As standard, the new Tiguan is equipped with 7 airbags, Front Assist systems with City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring, active hood, Lane Assist and Lane Departure, Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, electronic handbrake, ABS with Brake Assist, ASR, EDS, MSR, hill start and downhill assistant.
Depending on the version level, while the traditional one offers three configuration, Trendline, Comfortline and Highline, simple instrument cluster with trip computer color screen or advanced instrument cluster with 12.3" Active Info display (multi-mode graphic screen), Head-Up display, audio system with 5" monochrome screen - Composition Touch radio system, 5-inch color touch screen - Composition Color radio system or multimedia complex with 8-inch color touch screen in two versions - Composition Media radio system, or advanced Discover Media and Discover Pro radio-navigation systems, two or three zone climate control, driver and front passenger seats with electric drives, heating and ventilation (the simpler ones with mechanical adjustment), but the most advanced ergoActive with all the usual bells and whistles and a massage function !!!

Tire pressure monitoring system with Autolocation function.
Tire pressure monitoring system with Autolocation function is gradually being introduced, which replaces the previous tire pressure monitoring system.
- As before, the system is based on tire sensors that transmit tire pressure values to the tire pressure monitoring control unit -J502-.
- The "Autolocation" function of the system can correctly display tire pressures and warnings in the instrument cluster after a short run.
- The "antenna" is a combination of a tire pressure monitoring control unit and a central receiving antenna.
- After changing wheel sensors or changing tires, manual adaptation is not required. The tire pressure monitoring system automatically recognizes new tire pressure sensors and adapts them when you start driving.

But as a result of the all-German vote, it was the Tiguan variant that won, and it was under this name that the car was presented to Urbi et Orbi, that is, to the City and the World, at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The very first years of production clearly showed that an exceptionally successful car was born in the bowels of the concern. And what about the fact that the "tiger" of the German designers came out somewhat frivolous and very homely, a sort of "Tigrik Petrik" from the children's performance of the Obraztsov puppet theater. The main thing is that it appealed to buyers in many countries, and in 2014, at the peak of its popularity, more than 500,000 compact crossovers of this model were sold in the world!

By the way, the fact that most of the cars were sold just a year before the planned appearance of the second generation Tiguan, as well as the fact that in the nine years of the conveyor life of the model only one restyling was needed (and even then not the largest), speak of an exact “hit ten."

But the laws of the auto business are inexorable, and in 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show (traditions must be observed!) The official premiere of the second generation of the crossover took place. World markets met the new Tiguan no less favorably than its predecessor, but in our country, the wait for the start of sales was somewhat delayed.

There were reasons for this, which I have already mentioned: only Russian-assembled crossovers equipped with the ERA-GLONASS system will be sold in Russia. And in order to organize this very assembly, VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus LLC needed to build a new workshop and spend about 180 million euros. But now the waiting period is over, and here it is - the new Tiguan comes from Kaluga!

Growing up tiger cubs

The tiger has grown up. He lost his childhood swelling, all the features became sharper and tougher, and the overall image approached the older brother VW Touareg. The new LED lights look great. I especially liked the rear lights in the form of the Latin letter F.

And yet, compared with the previous generation, the car has grown in length by 60 mm, in width by 30 mm, and has become 33 mm lower. This growth was achieved not only due to the size of the body as such: both the wheelbase and track have increased (by 77 and 20 mm, respectively). And this is not surprising, because the new Tiguan is built on a modular MQB platform, which is worth a few words.

Platform of strategic importance

The abbreviation MQB stands for Modularer Querbaukasten, which can be translated as "modular matrix with a transverse engine." The first official mention of this platform dates back to 2012, but I have not been able to find any information about how long ago work on its creation began. However, many sources note that more than 60 billion euros have been spent on the development of this platform.

The head of the VW Group development department, Ulrich Hackelberg, called the MQB a “strategic weapon of the concern” for a reason. The concept of platform construction, which has received the widest acceptance, has made life easier for engineers and saved companies a lot of money. But, as a rule, each individual platform, giving designers a wide field to play with the appearance and equipment, rather rigidly sets two parameters: the wheelbase, which is set in a single option (less often - in several fixed ones) and the track. All this, in turn, determines the general proportions of cars built on this platform.

But in the case of MQB, the situation is somewhat different. This "constructor" allows you to assemble from individual elements the power base of a wide variety of cars, ranging in size from "supermini" to mid-size SUVs, reducing costs and development time for each specific model by about 30%. In general, the second Tiguan is only the first sign in the planned cohort of various crossovers. But all this will be tomorrow, and today the "swallow" is quite ready to take me in the driver's seat.

Ideal somewhere near

As usual, for the test I got a car in a top-end configuration: a two-liter 180-horsepower engine, a 7-speed DSG robot, keyless entry (although a standard key fob was used, with a folding sting), electrically adjustable sports seats covered in Vienna leather two colors, and a lot of all sorts of "goodies" such as electric tailgate.

The overall architecture of the salon is fully consistent with the corporate style: strictly, elegantly, with high quality, and the glass roof and a huge panoramic sunroof fill the salon with light and air. Some chrome, some piano lacquer surfaces, and mostly soft, pleasant-to-touch plastics.

The only pity is that the designers were still a little greedy: the plastic parts in the lower part of the cabin, including those with which the knees can come into contact, are nevertheless made rigid. But the overall ergonomics of the driver's seat, in my opinion, is close to ideal. Literally a couple of clicks on the keys of the seat drives - and it feels like you've been driving this car all your life ... However, the ideal - it's the ideal, to be unattainable.

I probably will never understand why German designers carry the gas and brake pedals so high. It would be better if they increased the distance between them by 10 millimeters so as not to cling to the edge of the pedal with the welt of winter shoes. After all, Tiguan is not some kind of passenger car, but a completely full-fledged crossover, with all-wheel drive, 200 mm ground clearance and off-road transmission modes. Of course, a significant part of its owners will never leave the asphalt, but among them there may be fishing enthusiasts and owners of remote country houses.

The same goes for the steering wheel. It is certainly good and convenient on the highway, but off-road or just on a broken primer with deep ruts, when every now and then you need to shift the steering wheel 360 degrees in one direction or the other, it is much more convenient to use a "steering wheel" with a uniform section around the entire circumference. The same applies to long hauls: ergonomic influxes set the only comfortable hand position on the steering wheel quite rigidly, but when you drive a car for many hours in a row, you constantly want to change your grip every now and then. I didn’t like the obvious congestion of the steering wheel with buttons - as many as 9 pieces for each spoke.

The discreet charm of virtuality

But all this is not the main thing. In fact, the first thing that catches your eye is the 12-inch Active Info color display that has replaced the entire instrument cluster. Until recently, such a solution could only be seen in prestigious luxury cars, but now it is increasingly penetrating the “middle class”. Strictly speaking, there is nothing strange in this. I am generally sure that as electronic components become cheaper and cheaper, the scope of "virtual dashboards" will grow, and very soon we will see them even in the salons of very budget models.

And here two points are important. Firstly, versatility: you can display any data on the screen right in front of your eyes at will. You want trip computer data, you want digital speedometer readings, you want information about what music the entertainment system plays.

And secondly, designers get complete freedom and can "draw" the panel in any style. In the case of the Tiguan, the designers quite effectively used the display as a universal information output device. But for some reason they forgot that the style of the dashboard design can also change now. It's a pity...

Because this whole disco in the red-white-blue colors of the British (or Russian, Dutch, French, Czech...) flag will definitely not appeal to everyone. It seems to me that several preset styles (“sporty”, “aviation”, “retro”, “futuristic”) with the ability to select them through the menu would be quite inexpensive, would not require any changes in the design, and the pluses of the model would be added .

What do you have against the Chinese?

Nowadays, it is difficult to imagine any prestigious car without a touch screen display crowning the center console with a solid diagonal. In this regard, the new Tiguan does not lag behind competitors: all the data on the eight-inch screen is perfectly readable, the system has a high speed of response to touch, the main functions are duplicated by hot keys located on the side of the display.

But the main novelty, of course, was the AppConnect application, which allows you to fully integrate your smartphone (at least on iOS, at least on Android) with the navigation and information system of the car. I had very high hopes for this function, but, alas, they did not come true: the system refused to work with the ZTE Nubia smartphone. Maybe the owners of devices of more popular brands would be more fortunate ...

I could only regret the impossibility of displaying a navigator with traffic jams on a regular large screen, hanging a suction cup holder on the windshield and limiting myself to a Bluetooth connection with hands-free systems and a music player. By the way, music from a smartphone can also be connected via an AUX cable, or you can burn it to a USB flash drive or an optical disc.

In search of the Czech trace

The designers also took care of the passengers of the second row. Firstly, it is quite spacious there (and this is a considerable merit of the grown wheelbase), and secondly, they have at their disposal not only an armrest with cup holders, but also folding tables with retractable arms for drinks. The trunk volume is also impressive: 615 liters is a lot!

But even more I liked the fact that in order to fold down the rear seatbacks and increase the available volume to 1,655 liters, you do not have to run around the entire car, opening the right rear door, then the left. He pulled the handle inside the trunk - and part of the back obediently fell forward, pulled the second - and the rest fell. The tailgate itself can be opened in at least four ways: using the key on the driver's door, from the key fob, by pressing the button located above the license plate, and by magically waving your foot under the bumper.

Plus, the Tiguan offers a range of Simply Clever-inspired goodies that sister brand Skoda is proud of. Among such solutions, I can include the already mentioned folding tables, and massive hooks for packages inside the trunk, and a regular inverter with a 230-volt outlet, which allows you to use ordinary household appliances on the road. To be honest, the inverter is not that expensive and I don't really understand why so few companies even offer it as an option.

Pay for delight

But the most interesting thing is how the Tiguan behaves on the road. To begin with, I’ll say right away that finding a common language with this car is very simple. Any half an hour, and it begins to seem to you that the crossover is controlled by the power of your thought - it is so accurate and predictable. And even in difficult situations - for example, on a slippery road sprinkled with snow. It is quite predictable that the Tiguan in the “sport” mode looks more like a tiger (with a completely predatory appetite of 15-17 liters per 100 km), and in the “eco” mode it looks like a cold, slippery iguana.

Acceleration up to 100 km/h, s

And a few more words about the transmission. I can happily state that it looks like the company has finally brought their "robot" to mind, so for the most part I just forgot about the presence of a DSG box in the car. The times when the dual clutch transmission would start to twitch, “get confused”, and in many situations could not decide which gear to select (“Third ... Oh no, fifth ... No, still third. .. But no, the fourth ...”), are a thing of the past. However, I did run into one bug. Parking near the curb on a slope and engaging reverse, I was surprised to find that the car continued to roll forward. I had to “play two pedals”, pressing the brake with my left foot and the gas with my right foot, otherwise contact with the bumper of the car in front would be inevitable.

Assistants, your way out!

But what definitely helps when parking is the all-round view mode, supplemented by sound signals from sensors. I have already written more than once that the presence of video cameras in our conditions cannot replace traditional “parktronics”, because after 10 minutes of driving along the roads treated with a reagent, the lenses are covered with an opaque film, and the image on the monitor turns into a set of incomprehensible spots.

Maximum speed, km/h

But I never used the automatic parking mode ... But I tried how the Front Assist distance control assistant works in the city. A warning about a dangerous approach to a car moving in front is not superfluous at all, as well as about the presence of an obstacle in the blind zone.

couple of steps up

And one more circumstance confirms that the new Tiguan has climbed at least a couple of steps up the ladder of prestige: it has definitely become significantly more comfortable on the go. Firstly, I would like to note the excellent sound insulation: engine noise begins to penetrate into the cabin except during sharp accelerations, when the engine spins up to 4-5 thousand revolutions, and aerodynamic noise begins to be felt only at a speed of 110-120 kilometers per hour.

Secondly, on a long journey, both the driver and passengers will not be hot or cold: all problems are solved by three-zone climate control. Finally, on a decent road, the suspension is also quite comfortable, perfectly swallowing small bumps and joints. But more serious obstacles (for example, "speed bumps") Tiguan passes very hard, although I have never recorded a breakdown of the suspension. However, it is quite obvious that the car is tuned for speed and handling on the pavement, and this is what becomes the factor that limits the limits of its cross-country ability.
