The side view of the Chinese sedan shows us the presence of the correct outlines, a well-drawn rear end, which is decorated with sidewall ribs, which are very stylish.
The sedan version differs from the hatchback version. That they have different body lines. Despite this, both variations look attractive and stylish. Outside rearview mirrors have received LED repeaters, which makes the side view of the car more successful. As rollers, there are 16-inch alloy wheels that fit quite well into the overall appearance of the machine.
It's a lot better than the earlier model, as it had 15-inch wheels, which looked a little odd, especially given the car's large dimensions. The aft part of the Geely Emgrand EC7 Sedan reveals to us the presence of new Mercedes LED lights, C-class, a trunk lid with chrome molding across the entire width, a neat bumper with a plastic diffuser and reflectors on the sides.

On the right, there is a heavy and large front panel of a different molding with a considerable and wide plane of the console installed in the center, on which the new advanced multimedia system with a color screen that is 7 inches in size and supports touch input easily fits. Near it is the original control unit for the climate control system. The front seats received dense padding and well-developed lateral support.
Those passengers who are sitting on the back sofa, and there may be three of them, will receive a comfortable sofa and a rather large supply of free space. If we talk about the assembly in general, then its level has grown a lot, the equipment has become more modern and interesting. The Geely Emgrand EC7 sedan version wins a little in terms of headroom.
However, this is not the only plus of it over the hatchback. The hatchback has 390 liters of useful space, and if you fold the rear seat backs, you can increase the usable volume to 1,000 liters. However, the sedan, already in the basic kit, comes with 680 liters. Although it does not say how many liters there will be if the backs are folded down, it is logical to conclude that this volume will be at least 2 times larger.

The updated Chinese-made Geely Emgrand EC7 sedan has a brand new 1.3-liter 4G13T turbocharged gasoline engine that is capable of delivering as much as 133 horsepower. Such a power unit is synchronized with a 6-speed manual gearbox or CVT variator. The maximum speed is about 182 km / h. If we talk about fuel consumption, then it is quite modest, about 6.3 liters per 100 km.
The steering is installed with an electric booster. In addition to the brand new power unit, the Geely Emgrand EC7 will have the previous naturally aspirated engines. This is a volume of 1.5 liters (98 horsepower) and 1.8 liters (126 horsepower). More outdated motors come with a 5-speed manual transmission and a CVT variator. If atmospheric motors are installed, then only the hydraulic power steering is used.
As for the suspension itself, it has not changed, everything is also in front of McPherson-type struts, and on the rear wheels there is a torsion beam. The braking system is represented by disc brakes, which are also ventilated in front.

It is quite logical that the changes that affected the appearance simply could not but lead to changes in the size of the car. As a result, the length of the car is 4631 mm, width 1789 mm, height 1470 mm, wheelbase 2650 mm, ground clearance at the level of 167 mm. It is clear that this is not a very high car, but we do not represent Geely Emgrand EC7 as an SUV, so everything is relatively good here.

The salon, although not distinguished by sophistication and the use of expensive materials, has nevertheless become a little better and more pleasant. In more expensive trim levels, there is a 7-inch touch screen. The front seats began to have improved lateral support. In the back row, three adults can easily sit down, and they will not feel discomfort either in their legs or in their heads.
The volume of the luggage compartment was pleasantly pleased, if necessary, it can be increased by folding the rear seat backs. A very weighty argument in favor of the Chinese updated sedan is the presence of good equipment even in the basic configuration, which Chinese-made cars have recently been famous for. Although the power units that are installed in the Geely Emgrand EC7 car do not break records, they calmly cope with their tasks.
The company did not forget about ensuring the proper level of safety not only for the driver, but also for the passengers sitting nearby. Unlike its sedan brother, the Emgrand EC-7 hatchback received an additional door and a prefix of several letters in its RV name. The front of the hatchback is identical to the sedan. And why change something in such a "guise"? I really like it, that is, such a car is not just considered - it is bought! By the way, the price of a hatchback is only a few thousand more expensive, and the length is 23 cm shorter due to the overhang. The trunk has also significantly decreased, but the car’s capabilities for transporting larger loads have significantly increased. And let, usually a couple of packages from the supermarket are transported in your trunk. In the life of any car owner, there comes a moment when he regrets that he chose a sedan instead of a hatchback.

Externally Geely Emgrand looks very worthy! There are no fussy decorations or an abundance of chrome in it, which is - even gaps and high-quality assembly. There is a great desire to get into the demanding European markets, and not just to get, but to "bite off" a good piece of the European pie - not just a declaration of intent. The interior of both the sedan and the hatchback is almost identical. Such an interior could easily be in a car made in Europe. The Asian origin of the car gives out perhaps an abundance of blue on the dashboard, and also traditionally rich equipment. Emgrande really has everything and even more: central locking, leather upholstery, power windows, light sensor and climate control. Rear parking sensors, ABS and as many as 6 airbags are responsible for the safety of the car. This hatchback relies on a sunroof and alloy wheels.

In the engine compartment, the hatchback, like its sedan, has a 4-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1.8 liters. Its limit is 127 horsepower. To get the maximum acceleration dynamics, the car will have to be twisted, since peak torque is reached at around 4200 rpm. It is achieved quickly enough and it feels like a confident pickup, but for some reason I don’t want to start every time in this mode. This "for some reason" is explained by acoustic comfort. Up to 3 thousand rpm, the engine is almost inaudible in the cabin, but the farther, the louder its song becomes! On the other hand, this does not prevent the car from showing the declared 185 km / h of maximum speed. Moreover, regardless of the switching speed, the Geely Emgrand remains a very comfortable car.

Suspension "with a bang" is tested with very large irregularities. The price paid for driving comfort is not quite confident cornering. It should also be noted very light steering. In trail mode, the only two-pedal version of the X7 with a 148 hp 2.4 engine. and the Australian six-speed "automatic" DSI (this company has been part of the Geely holding since 2009) is not bad, but annoying in traffic jam mode. Even the most gentle pressure on the gas causes a micro-lag and an unexpectedly sharp jerk - the driver quickly gets tired, and the passengers constantly nod their heads.

Yes, with flaws, without all-wheel drive and with the need to go to maintenance with a wonderful schedule every ten thousand kilometers: for example, brake fluid is prescribed to be changed every 20 thousand, antifreeze - every 30 thousand, and power steering oil - every 40. But there is five-year warranty (mileage - up to one hundred thousand), impressive size and spacious interior. So the person who abandoned the two-liter all-wheel drive Duster in favor of the X7 does not seem crazy to me - unlike someone who chooses the Geely Emgrand EC7 ...

Let me remind you that this sedan with grief in half reached the end of the Autoreview resource test and at one time was one of the most popular “Chinese” in Russia: almost 34 thousand cars have been sold since 2012. Now it is called shorter - Emgrand 7. Outside - other bumpers and redesigned lighting. The red segments on the shield of the emblem have given way to blue ones - in honor of the unified Geely brand and the abolition of subsidiaries Englon, Gleagle and Emgrand. And the basic equipment was replenished with a stabilization system, keyless entry and - oh, a miracle! - factory heated front seats. The production site has also changed: from now on, the “seven” is produced not at the Derways plant in Karachay-Cherkessia, but at the Belarusian enterprise Belgi using the SKD method.

Belgian Punch variator in conjunction with a 1.8 engine with a power of 129 hp. instead of the previous 126 in a traffic jam, it works smoothly, but when maneuvering at speed, the lag on the gas pedal is simply catastrophic. The acceleration is viscous and straining, the engine roars like there is no motor shield at all.
What is the use of a good seat with a distinct lumbar support and tenacious leatherette, if the configuration of the steering wheel-chair-pedal triangle is simply terrible?
The chassis is supposedly improved, but the steering wheel setting is still ugly, and the rear suspension (or rather, its likeness) turns frighteningly. On potholes - blows and roar, on speed bumps - vibration like a jackhammer. Yes, my three-year-old Cruze against this background is the real pinnacle of the automotive industry. Well, at least the Emgrand 7 slows down normally, keeps a straight line securely, and seems very quiet on non-studded winter tires.

Two and a half years ago, we bought the resource Emgrand EC7 for 542 thousand rubles, but now the “seven” with a 1.8 engine and a five-speed “mechanics” will cost at least 700 thousand, and a CVT car is another hundred thousand more expensive. In principle, this information is enough to discard thoughts of buying as a bad dream. There is a five-year warranty with a mileage of up to 150 thousand kilometers, but the maintenance regulations are just as wonderful, the Geely dealer network is small, and besides, almost any “Chinese” is illiquid on the secondary market. But at home, Emgrand 7 is the most popular domestic sedan. Poor Chinese...

The front of the car is similar to the current Asian cars of well-known models, but it also has its own zest. On the large chrome radiator grille is the concern's logo. The front lights and stampings on the hood cover speak of the predatory appearance of the front end itself. We can say that the appearance looks restrained than sporty.
