The SUV of the 2017 model year acquired not only a “mature” exterior design, but also a modernized interior (with “next generation multimedia”), as well as a number of electronic “assistants” ... it also received a new 120-horsepower diesel engine (which, however, in Russia never showed up... and is unlikely to get here).

The European "bride" of the updated Ford Kuga II took place in March 2016 - at the Geneva Automobile Forum, but they cannot be called a full-fledged premiere, because. for the first time this car, in serial form, was exhibited to the public on February 20 - at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Restyling clearly benefited Kuge - the crossover noticeably “matured” outwardly and began to look more solid and aggressive. The strict “facade” of the five-door flaunts a large “trapeze” of the radiator grille and frowning headlights with LED “eyes” for running lights, and the sidewalls have dynamic outlines thanks to the sloping roof and “inflated” wheel arches.

The stern of the car is decorated with a large trunk lid and stylish LED lights, and a diffuser with two “trunks” of the exhaust system adds sportiness to it.

The overall dimensions of the Ford Kuga, after the update, remained the same: 4524 mm long, 1745 mm high and 1838 mm wide. Its wheelbase is 2690 mm, and the clearance under the "belly" in running order does not exceed 198 mm.

The interior of the Kuga 2017 model year was also not without changes, as a result of which it became prettier, nobler and more modern.

The driver’s workplace demonstrates a stylish three-spoke steering wheel with embossed handicaps and a visual “toolkit” with a color display of a trip computer, and a very massive center console is headed by the “SYNC 3” multimedia complex with an 8-inch screen, under which there is a convenient “climate” control panel. .

The passenger-and-freight capabilities of the restyled Ford Kuga have remained at the level of the pre-reform model: the interior can accommodate five crew members without problems, and the luggage compartment has a volume of 456 to 1653 liters, depending on the position of the “gallery” back.

Specifications. In the Russian market for the crossover, as before, there are three power plants:

• The first option is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder "aspirated" with distributed injection, developing 150 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 230 Nm of peak thrust at 4500 rpm.
• The second is a 1.6-liter direct-fed turbo engine, offered in two boost levels:

  • or 182 forces and 240 Nm at similar speeds.

  They are combined with 6-speed “mechanics” or “automatic”, as well as front or intelligent all-wheel drive (with a multi-plate clutch in the rear axle).

But in the countries of the Old World, the updated car is available with completely different units:

• The petrol part includes a 1.5-liter "four" EcoBoost, generating 120-182 "horses" and 240 N m of torque potential.
• The diesel palette includes a new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that develops 120 “heads” and 270 Nm of torque, and a 2.0-liter Duratorq, whose output is 150-180 horsepower and 370-400 Nm of maximum thrust.

In terms of design, the Ford Kuga has not undergone any improvements after the update: a platform from the “third Focus” with McPherson front struts and a rear multi-link scheme, a rack and pinion steering system with electric power and brake “pancakes” on all wheels with ABS, EBD and other modern assistants.

Options and prices. On the Russian market, Ford Kuga 2017 model year is provided in four trim levels - "Trend", "Trend Plus", "Titanium" and "Titanium Plus".

For a base car, dealers ask for a minimum of 1,364,000 rubles - for this money it is equipped with a 2.5-liter engine and a front-wheel drive transmission. In the “state”, the crossover boasts seven airbags, engine start with a button, 17-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, a six-speaker audio system, HSA, ABS, EBD, an ERA-GLONASS system, a rollover prevention system and other goodies.
An all-wheel drive SUV will cost from 1,619,000 rubles, but the price of the “top modification” in its “starting” value reaches 1,999,000 rubles.
