What I like about this car is that it has a lot of unusual solutions, that the ergonomics of the car are very well thought out. The seat is very comfortable, moderately hard, with adjustable lumbar support, adjustable in height. All knobs and switches are in accessible places, their modes are logically clear. Particularly convenient is the mode of short-term pressing the turn signal, turns on the turn signal 3 times and that's it, it's convenient when changing lanes. The signal is located where it should be, and not on a pip on the side. I like that the door trim near the glass is very wide, my hand lies on it very comfortably and does not slip off. The glass falls completely, does not stick out of the door. The handles in the doors, which are armrests, are also very conveniently made, their height is thought out so that the hand rests on it very comfortably. The main armrest for the right hand is also good, wide, the passenger's elbow does not interfere with the driver at all, there is an adjustment for reach. Under the armrest there is a convenient glove box with a 12-volt socket, where I charge my cell phone from an auto charger.

In my configuration 4 power windows with auto-windows windows. A very handy option. The windows close by themselves at the touch of the close button. The car is equipped with a signaling device of not switched off dimensions and movement with open doors. Shouts very loudly, it is impossible not to pay attention. But I have a light sensor, the circuit has been redone, in the auto mode during the day, the dipped beam is switched on together with the ignition - running lights. I didn’t convert to fogs, I don’t see the point. Changing a burned-out fog light is more difficult than changing a headlight bulb. Yes, and the “walk me home” option also has a place, it turns on by briefly lifting the high beam lever, with the ignition off. Headlights turn on for 30 seconds, illuminating the way home. There is a mode of parking lights. This mode works without ignition, in this mode only the dimensions are turned on without the dashboard lighting.

I want to talk about the rain sensor. Its algorithm is a bit incomprehensible to me, it seems to work, but you constantly have to intervene with your hands. Either he waves like crazy, or he does not clean the glass. For me, this is not a very necessary thing, it can come in handy only when in auto mode you will be doused with water from a puddle, it works instantly, including the wipers. Even at first, the rear wiper caused misunderstandings, I could not understand why, when reverse gear is engaged, it either turns on or not. It turns out that if the front wipers were activated for about 1 minute, then the rear wipers will turn on, if not, it will not turn on. Another feature of Ford is an extra wave of the wipers when the washer button is pressed. The wipers do a triple cycle on the glass, after a few more seconds a control stroke, remove the remnants. The machine is equipped with a nozzle heater. Splashing anti-freeze in winter, steam from the water was visible, and the glass was washed from frost better and faster than heating the glass. By the way, about the heated windshield, the option is necessary but not well thought out. In winter, when it snows, it quickly sticks to the wipers, and heating the windshield does not help defrost them at all. At rest, they lie down just in the place where water flows from the glass, freezing on the wipers and further aggravating the situation. It was necessary to bring the heating to the parking area of ​​the wipers.

A few words about native music. I really don't like bad sound, I just can't stand it. If the speakers fart from the bass, or vice versa squeak from the highs, I can't listen to it. In the same car, the Sony acoustics are worthy of praise as standard. 8 speakers, 2 in each door (mid and high frequencies), plays very clean and pleasant, moderate bass, and high too. A good mp3 disc plays just great, the volume is oversized, at the maximum the glass starts to rattle. There are no complaints about the radio either, confident clear reception, no hiss, no background.

I want to note the trunk, when unfolding the seats, we get a completely flat floor. In the trunk there is a 12 V socket, constantly energized, it is convenient to pump the wheels or connect the lamp. There are 2 closable pockets in the side niches. I keep a first aid kit and gloves there, as well as a towing eye and a funnel. Also in the trunk there are 4 ears for attaching an organizer or securing cargo.

The most unusual solution is opening the hood with a key. Many who are not familiar with the Focus are surprised by this action, very unusual. After washing the car in the winter, you have to carefully wipe the lock mechanism so that it does not freeze. The solution is not very practical.

My car is equipped with an ESP system. In winter, her work was especially noticeable. The car almost never skidded on the ice, esp does not allow the wheels to slip, the gas pedal can be pressed at least all the way, as soon as traction appears, the car picks up speed. It’s just that the electronics don’t always work predictably, and therefore sometimes when you need to quickly get onto the road on a slippery section with slippage, you had to turn off the esp. And if you need to drive through large snowdrifts, it is also better to turn it off. But in general, this system is designed to help, preventing the car from skidding.

The car was purchased in early May 2008, was ordered in December 2007. before that, he owned a VAZ-2115, took it from scratch and sold it to a 5-year-old. It's time to change the car, I was looking for a class C sedan, with a 1.8-2.0 engine with at least 2 airbags, ABS / ESP, and the extreme threshold was 600 tr. The choice was among the machines Lancer X, Elantra, Mazda 3 and Focus. After collecting the necessary information, I set off on a journey through dealers, so to speak, to feel the goods, I will not go into details. Everyone has their own criteria for choosing a car, I settled on a focus. I liked it the most, both inside and out, and was cheaper, and in price, and on credit, and in MOT, although my acquaintances were frightened by the Russian assembly, I decided to purchase it. I took the Gia package, in my opinion the best choice, it’s a pity at that time there was no Titanium, I would have taken it, a 2-liter engine, gasoline, manual transmission, the standard color is silver. Of the options took: Xenon headlights, ABS, stability control (IVD), regular Sony music, heated front seats, climate control.

Of course, after 15 matches there was heaven and earth, a month I got used to the fact that nothing creaks or rings, five people in the car are not "sprats in a tin can", the car accelerates, slows down. A month later, the car became just a means of transportation, the first shortcomings were found compared to the previous car. The main thing is the trunk: visually and in liters it is larger (about 100 liters), but actually less!!! So I bought winter tires in March and calmly brought them from the store in the trunk, and only 2 wheels fit into the focus and there is a lot of free space ... A very narrow loading slot had to bring the printer in the package (healthy infection) which used to load normally in the trunk, barely got into the Focus without a box. In general, the trunk for small bags)) Although the trunk can be opened from the remote control, it’s of little use to just click, but you have to lift it with your hands, and when both are busy, and it’s wet and dirty on the street, I remember with a kind word a tag, there the lid itself rose. The racks are good, massive, but a problem arises when you need to give way to the car on the right, before it was enough to glance to the right and assess the situation, now you have to slow down and shake your head like a cobra, so as not to miss the car in the dead zone, and if the front passenger is sitting, then in general paragraph. I got used to the dimensions quickly, before that I was a little scared by the width of the car, I thought there would be problems in the yards, but everything is ok, it took longer to get used to the ass, I still couldn’t determine whether there was still a meter or I would now move someone else’s car with the rear bumper.

High gas mileage, did not expect, I knew that the passport will never be, but almost 14 liters is cool. True, the "doctor's" mode of operation of the car is probably to blame, but as you get out on the track, the consumption on the computer decreases by about 0.1 liters every 70-80 km. So in the summer I traveled a lot on the highways, the consumption fell to 12.6 liters. I thought everything was ok, the car was run-in, but no. On a run of 5000 km, I decided to change the oil myself, the problem came where it was not expected, I almost blew my belly when I drove into the garage, where I used to drive in a 15-ke without any problems. I drove well very slowly and carefully, although the clearance is quite high ... Apparently, the larger distance between the wheels is to blame. Yesterday I was driving along the highway after snow, the anti-buks often worked - zero sense, only when the light flashed for 6-9 seconds in a row and a slight smell of a burnt clutch came - I realized that I didn’t need to do this anymore, it would be expensive. But in the corners, the IVD system pleased, I tried to make an artificial skid, I couldn’t with the system turned on (though I didn’t try hard). A month later, the purchase decided to check the tire pressure turned out to be about 3, I had to lower it a little according to the table. Although nothing rattles in the cabin, but the noise from the wheels is strong, and from the winter khaki it generally lays my ears, I will do soundproofing in the spring. Well, probably the cons ended there, there are a couple of nitpicks in the form of the inability to order curtain-type side airbags, the inconvenience of opening the hood, I’m somehow used to doing it from the passenger compartment, sometimes the first gear is not switched on clearly.

Let's move on to the merits: the brakes are something, for the whole summer the ABS worked twice, although there were moments when I put in the brake, the first time when I checked the operation of the system I felt a couple of pedal vibrations, and the second time on a wet road one horseman cut. I am very pleased with the brakes, a couple of months ago I drove a couple of kilometers in a friend's car (VAZ-2112). One dog poked out under the wheels, I braked, but the car does not slow down, it slows down a little, I thought I would definitely hit the tail, but I was lucky. The 2-liter engine was not particularly impressive, well, yes, the VAZ and small-capacity competitors are resting, but I didn’t notice much acceleration, so I don’t recommend it for fans to tear everyone from the traffic light, but the high-torque motor, in particular, it doesn’t notice the climate, it adequately accelerates the car with 4 people, so there was a case of one street racer on a 9-ke trying to overtake on the right somewhere at a speed of 80-90, on a slight rise in the overpass, I gas to the floor in the car 5 people + 30 kg in the trunk, after 10 seconds a loud farting sound remained somewhere then at the back, I am satisfied with the engine - 2 liters is what I need for me, if you do not take into account the consumption.

I was pleased with the xenon headlights when I ordered it, the toad choked a little, I thought it was more show-off, but when I turned it on for the first time I realized that it was worth it, the illumination was several times higher than it was at 15-ke, and when I turned on the far one it seemed that the sun had risen. I can’t evaluate the work of the 2-zone climate, because I didn’t go with air conditioning, I took more because of the appearance, and the difference in money was small, in general I’m very pleased with the system, I drove all summer like in paradise, for the first time in 10 years, there was no desire, standing in traffic jams, to go to the nearest Kamaz and not insert its own exhaust pipe into the salon, it was cool and the salon smelled of freshly bought "stink". Heated seats work great, there are 5 modes nice. The head unit is certainly not super, but a good average, the sound would be rated at a solid 4-ku, in my opinion it fits more harmoniously into the interior and is less interesting to junkies-thieves. The radio picks up well. I was satisfied with all the options that I ordered, I regret that I did not order a heated windshield.

Well, probably everything else you can write about an 8-month-old car with a mileage of 7 t.km? I hope there will be nothing bad to add in the future =)

4. Operation after warranty.

In the third year I went to the dealer to get serviced, then I stopped wasting money.

They redid it under warranty, but they took the money for the withdrawal, at the same time they changed the silent blocks. Feels like they did better.

Tromozuha was also changed twice, every 17-20 thousand brake pads. The rear drums were changed to 70s and were less than half worn.

Candles changed about every 40 thousand.

Flaws

  • The trunk is small.
  • Noise from rough road!!! It really gets on the track.
  • Long mudguards, often come off, after the 5th I stopped buying them.

Looking back and asking myself if I made the right conclusion, I answer yes. Do I want a Ford again? Probably not, although if there is an interesting offer, I will take it.

I plan to sell the car in the next six months. I would like Passat station wagon B5 2008-09. with 1.8 TSI on the handle. Unfortunately, we don't have many of those. Considering the Opel Insignia as an analogue, it is also, of course, a station wagon.
