Installing a timing belt 2110. We select a new belt

Installing a timing belt 2110. We select a new belt

The upper pulleys were not fixed, and now it is not clear how to expose them. The marks on the pulleys do not “look” in exactly the same direction. Maybe it's easier to turn all the pulleys to the TDC position in cylinder 1? If we are talking about 16 valves, the marking on the VAZ-2112 is familiar to me: I performed this operation on the timing belt 21124. Well, I have a motor with a volume of 1.5. Are there any differences?

Set the timing marks correctly - otherwise you will bend the valves!

The VAZ-21124 engine has a feature: no matter how its pulleys are twisted, it is not. WITHjokes like this don't work! If the pulley positions are not strongly knocked down, try to put on a belt and tighten the mechanism to the “TDC 1 and 4” position. And always follow the instructions:

In theory, on the VAZ-2112, tagging is carried out in the same way, no matter what motor it is. Here are photos for the 21120 engine.

How everything looks in reality and in the instructions

Do not be too lazy to find a viewing window on the gearbox housing. Under the cap is another label.

The last step is optional. And then they do it so as not to redo all the work from scratch.

Additional information:

  • The number of belt teeth between the marks of the "upper pulleys" is exactly 16;
  • The mark on the crankshaft pulley sometimes breaks off - use the control method "1" (photo 1) or "3" (bottom photo).

Clarifications for VAZ-21124

On a motor with a volume of 1.6, all actions are performed in the same way as indicated above. There is one exception - the generator drive pulley is set according to the mark on the casing (see photo).

Alternator drive pulley, motor 21124

However, if this mark is not there, use the proven method: 20 teeth are counted from the DPKV body. Instead of the 21st, there should be a "pass".

Timing pulleys can be rotated as you like - the pistons in any case will not touch the valves. Compare what the pistons of two different engines look like - it will become clear what we are talking about.

Two different 16-valve

For those who don't understand

The number of teeth on the crankshaft pulley is 21, on the camshaft pulleys - 42. When the crankshaft rotates 360 degrees, the camshafts rotate 180. In general, a complete engine cycle consists of two revolutions of the crankshaft (720 degrees).

In theory, an alternative configuration method can be used. Let the camshaft pulley marks look straight down. Then the mark on the crankshaft pulley should be facing up (TDC 1 and 4).

If there is no fixing device, you can make it yourself. Even a puller is suitable for (see photo).

Taken and fixed

We wish you success.

Checking timing marks on one video

Hi all. Today we will talk with you about the VAZ 2110, 2111. Namely, about replacing the timing belt on their engines. It is necessary to control the condition of the timing belt every 10-15 thousand kilometers. Inspect the belt for cracks. You also need to check the timing belt tension. If it breaks, then you will have an expensive engine repair. Now we will tell you how to remove and replace the timing belt on a VAZ 2110, 2111. According to the regulations, the belt is changed every 50-60 thousand kilometers.

Vendor code:
Timing belt - 1 987 949 095, Timing belt tensioner pulley - T42042A
Tools:
10" and 17" wrench, 19" socket, flathead screwdriver
Removing and replacing the timing belt VAZ 2110, 2111:
Let's start replacing the timing belt. First of all, unscrew the 2 bolts on the front of the timing belt guard.

Then unscrew the central nut.

Now remove the timing belt guard.

Then unscrew and remove the right wheel. And we remove the protection behind him. Next we see the alternator pulley. We throw the head on 19 "and start turning clockwise.

We turn the pulley until the marks fall into place.

Next, remove the rubber plug on top of the gearbox.

It should show a label.

This is what it looks like when the gearbox is removed.

Now insert a screwdriver into this window and block the flywheel from rotating.

Then unscrew the alternator pulley. Turn the socket 19" counterclockwise.

Then remove the pulley and put it aside.

The next step is to loosen the timing belt tensioner nut with a 17" wrench.

Then remove the old timing belt.

After that, unscrew the timing belt tensioner and change it to a new one.

Do not forget to install a special washer under the roller.

Then we put on a new timing belt and pull it.

Next, look at the location of the labels. If everything remains in place, we collect everything in the reverse order.

By unscrewing the belt, you can check its tension. It must not be overstretched.

So we replaced the timing belt with a VAZ 2110, 2111. Next, we start the engine and let it run. Look at how the timing belt behaves. After that, we put on the belt protection. The whole procedure took us about 30 minutes. Good luck on the roads!
Video of removing and replacing the timing belt VAZ 2110, 2111. For 16 valve

For 8-valve:

The former flagship of the Russian automobile industry VAZ 2110 with a 1.5 16 valve engine. Scheduled replacement of the timing belt after 30,000 km of run after the last replacement. An autopsy showed that if today they had not changed, then tomorrow work would have been added to our minder. In general, we recommend that all customers check the condition of the belt at least once every 5,000, or once a year. But knowing the quality of our spare parts, it is better more often. On this engine, when the belt breaks, almost all valves bend. The article is also relevant for the VAZ 2112))

We look, remember and do not bring to this.

The patient became five millimeters narrower and generally looked very ill. We send it to the board of honor.

And here is the hero of the occasion.

We remove the absorber and the power steering reservoir so that they do not interfere in the future.

We loosen the bolt by seventeen, the tension roller of the service belt and remove the latter. It will not be possible to remove it completely because the engine support is in the way. If the strap requires replacement, you will have to unscrew the motor mount.

We remove the tension roller. We unscrew the bolts of the upper protective cover, they are under the hexagon.

We take it off.

Remove the right wheel, plastic mudguard and drain the antifreeze.

We see the crankshaft pulley. For his bolt, clockwise, we rotate the crankshaft until the marks on the camshaft pulleys and the timing belt protective cover match.

Labels on the left exhaust camshaft. The label on the protective cover is highlighted in red.

Same for intake camshaft. He's right. On its pulley there is an inner ring for the phase sensor, so it is very difficult to confuse the pulleys.

We remove the crankshaft pulley. Stop the crankshaft with the help of a friend. We put him in the car and force him to turn on the fifth speed and press the brake all the way. And at this time, with a slight movement of the hand, we unscrew the bolt of the crankshaft pulley. Remove it and the bottom protective cover.

We see that the mark on the stars and the slot on the ebb of the crankshaft cover coincided.

We loosen the bolts on seventeen tension and bypass rollers and remove the timing belt. Then there are the videos themselves. We change them anyway.

We stop and unscrew the camshaft pulleys and remove them. Remember that the right camshaft has a pulley with an inner ring for the phase sensor. The picture should look like this.

We unscrew everything that holds the protective plastic cover and remove the latter. Unscrew the three screws holding the pump. They are hexagon.

And we take it out.

The pump for a sixteen valve engine is slightly different from the usual one for an eight valve engine. It has a small threaded ear for attaching a protective cover.

Lubricate the gasket with a thin layer of sealant and put the pump in place. Tighten the fastening bolts. We put the protective cover in place. We check that he would sit in his place, otherwise he will rub the belt. If everything is in order, we twist everything that holds it and put the camshaft pulleys and new rollers.

We check the coincidence of the marks on the camshafts and crankshaft. Install a new timing belt. If there are no direction arrows, set so that the inscription is read from left to right.

The right one, it is the descending branch of the belt, must be tight. You can turn the right camshaft clockwise a few degrees, put on a belt and turn it back. Thus we will pull the descending branch. On the tension roller there are two holes for a special key. You can find it at any auto shop. The issue price is 60 rubles. To tension the timing belt, insert the special key and counterclock-wise spin the roller. Since there is a lot of controversy about the timing belt tension, we will write this: a tensioned belt should not have more than 5 mm sag between the camshafts when pressed and 7 mm on the longest branch (specially experimented). Remember: an overtightened belt reduces the life of the pump, and due to an undertightened one, you can get to repair the cylinder head.(photo below)

Checking all labels. We turn the crankshaft two turns and check the marks again. If the pistons did not meet with the valves and the marks matched, then accept my congratulations. Then we put everything in place in the reverse order of removal. Don't forget to tighten the bolts. We tighten the service belt pulley with the same key as the timing belt tension pulley. Fill with antifreeze and start the car. We wish the belt many years of service, but remember to check it periodically, after all, it was made in Russia.

But what happens when the belt breaks on a 1.5 16 valve motor.

Now you can easily change the timing belt on a sixteen-valve engine, your favorite dozen.

Good luck on the roads! Neither a nail nor a wand.

Timing brand. installation of timing labels on the example of VAZ engines 2110 , 2111 and 2112

Dear friends, today we will tell you about the basics of setting timestamps using the VAZ 16 valve engine as an example. It is no secret that correctly installed labels time is a guarantee of the correct operation of the engine. If labels displayed incorrectly, normal engine operation is excluded. It is also important to properly tighten the belt, this greatly affects its durability. So, when do we have to deal with the timing procedure on marks? When we need to replace the timing belt for the next maintenance order, besides, the rollers will also necessarily change along with the belt in this case. Also, if we have an "indoor" pump. the timing belt must be removed, since it is he who controls our "water pump". Well, if (worst case). we broke the belt. Then if the engine is "sticky" then that's a huge problem, the piston matches the valves and at least head removal with valve replacement is guaranteed to us. So what is timestamp and where do they apply. First. labels on the camshaft pulleys, both inlet and outlet:

Ignition marks on the injector. Replacing the timing belt on an 8kl motor. Gap between the DPKV and the ignition pulley.

replacement timing on 8 cl engine. The belt tensioner was shown incorrectly! Everything in the opposite direction is necessary tension.

They must match the mark on the crankshaft, and there are several methods for calculating this labels. It is quite difficult to remove the belt pulley generator (it does not allow you to see the label) and the street to see the labels match.

With this coincidence, the piston marks are at TDC (top dead center)

And finally, the third option for setting the position of the crankshaft position on the flywheel, they can be seen if you remove the rubber plug on the gearbox:

Here are the timestamp comparison options, we offer you an example of 1.5 16V engines installed on the VAZ- 2110 , VAZ-2112 and VAZ-2111. If you still have any questions regarding the timing of your engine. ask them on our forum in the appropriate section.

Every component and part in a car wears out, and the timing belt is no exception. In order for the replacement to be carried out correctly, the car manufacturer in the passport indicated the wear dates for all elements of the vehicle. VAZ replacement of the timing belt 2110 and 2112 according to the passport should take place every 45 thousand km. Of course, the indicator is inaccurate, because it all depends on the driving style, operating conditions and climate. Experts recommend checking the belt every 10 thousand kilometers.

In this article, we will consider the following questions:

  1. How does the timing and its elements work;
  2. Symptoms of timing failure;
  3. Replacement for 8- and 16-valve engines.

Helpful advice! If after 45 thousand you replaced the belt, but at the same time it remained in working condition, then you should not immediately throw it away. We recommend putting it in the trunk or in the passenger compartment, because no one knows what can happen to the car on the way.

The principle of the belt and location

This element is a rubber-metal belt or a metal chain. The intake of a mixture of fuel and air, as well as the release of exhaust gases - this is what the timing is. Breakage of the element threatens with costly repairs, in which even the pistons may need to be replaced. In other words, the timing belt is the link between the crankshaft and the camshaft.

When the timing belt VAZ 2110 or 2112 is to be replaced, the driver is primarily interested in the location of this element. When you open the hood, you will immediately find a belt with a toothed surface. Its main difference from other similar elements is that the belt covers several pulleys.

When to change the timing belt

First, consider the signs that you can feel or determine visually:

  • extraneous noises are heard from the engine compartment;
  • exhausts turned black;
  • difficulty starting the engine;
  • when the motor is running, there are tangible vibrations.

These signs do not always indicate a malfunction or damage to the timing belt, but if they occur, you first need to pay attention to this element. To check the element, it must be dismantled: the negative wire from the battery is disconnected, the plug is removed, then the alternator belt and six bolts securing the protective cover are removed. After that, you can evaluate the state of the element.

Replacing the timing belt VAZ 2110 or 2112 is required if you find the following damage:

  • rubber delamination;
  • there are oil stains;
  • the presence of scuffs, cracks and folds;
  • bulges, cuts;
  • the presence of broken threads.

Replacement process - detailed instructions

We will analyze options with 8- and 16-valve engines that are present in the VAZ 2112 and 2110 models. Regardless of the number of valves, the same set of tools will be required for replacement. The list includes regular tools that can be found in the garage of almost every driver.

In addition to the timing belt itself and the roller for the VAZ 2110 or 2112, the work will need:

  • a special key that regulates the degree of tension of the roller;
  • ring key on "17";
  • key on "15";
  • key on "10";
  • montage, as an alternative - a powerful screwdriver.

Replacement on an 8-valve engine

Replacing the timing belt VAZ 2110 8 valves is as follows:

  1. First of all, we de-energize the battery - for this you need to get the negative wire;
  2. We unscrew the bolts that hold the timing guard, and then remove the casing;
  3. On the passenger side, it is necessary to dismantle the mudguard of the engine compartment together with the protective element and the right wheel;
  4. Our task is to match the marks on the cover and, accordingly, on the pulley, as indicated in all the diagrams. To do this, turn the part clockwise;
  5. We go to the checkpoint and remove the plug from it;
  6. We need to check the coincidence of marks in this hole;
  7. We block the flywheel - for this you can use the assembly tool or a powerful screwdriver;
  8. Now you can remove the timing generator pulley;
  9. We got to the nut that holds the timing roller - it must be loosened, but not unscrewed;
  10. So we got to the desired timing element VAZ 2110 or 2112. Now it can be removed. All parts that he covered must be cleaned with detergent. After removing the dirt, the area should be wiped with a clean rag;
  11. Next, a new timing belt and tensioner roller are installed - follow the direction indicated by the arrow. Sometimes it happens that the manufacturer does not indicate the arrows, in this case, you need to put the element so that the inscription is read from left to right;
  12. To tension it is necessary to turn the roller counterclockwise
  13. The next step is testing the timing belt and its tension. You need to check the element with a cold engine, while the temperature in the garage or box should be within + 15- + 30C. We start the engine and inspect the timing belt.

If there are no extra sounds, vibration, then all the elements can be installed back - this is a wheel, a casing and a mudguard.

Replacement on a 16-valve engine

Despite the fact that there are more valves, replacing the timing belt is no more difficult than on the version with 8 valves. So, replacing the timing belt VAZ 2110 16 valves is as follows:

  1. As in the case of the VAZ 2110 or 2112, where there are 8 valves, we need to dismantle the belt protection. It is held on by 6 bolts.
  2. Next, you need to remove the chip from the crankshaft sensor - unscrew the mount and take out the sensor itself. For clarity, you can study the photo.
  3. If you yourself are dismantling the gas distribution mechanism, then you probably noticed the absence of one tooth. This is done so that the sensor can independently find the dead center. Also, with the help of this feature, you can block the crankshaft.
  4. Blocking can be done when a tube of a suitable size is placed in the hole under the sensor. Now the pulley is locked, as a result, it can be safely dismantled.
  5. Further, the scheme of work is practically the same as removing the 8-valve distribution mechanism with your own hands - we loosen the fastening of the roller and take out a faulty or worn belt.
  6. There are two ways to install a new element: remove the tension roller and then install the belt with it, or do it by turning the camshaft.
  7. When the new element is set, you can return everything to its original position. It’s worth starting with fastening the pulley - we tighten the bolt and combine the gear - the marks on the oil pump will help with this. If they are missing, then you can make a label yourself.
  8. It is necessary to combine the parts carefully, since the timing gear should not go astray.
  9. Using a special key, we must tighten the belt. Not everyone has such a key, but as an alternative, you can always take a powerful screwdriver and two nails. It is also worth remembering the nut, which must be tightly tightened.
  10. We check the tension, the rubber should move away from the gears, but there should not be any wrinkles.
  11. It remains to turn the crankshaft 2 times and make sure that the marks remain in the same place - the work is completed

As you can see, replacing the VAZ 2112 timing belt is quite simple. The main thing is to allocate time for this. Check the gas distribution mechanism every 10 thousand kilometers, and then you will not have to spend money on expensive repairs.
