A cultivator, like any other technique, requires timely maintenance and repair. If you do not intend to contact specialists and are well versed in mechanical engineering, then you will be able to detect a malfunction and restore the device to working capacity on your own.

Fuel supply problem

To indicate that the engine for the Krot motor cultivator is out of order may be the inability to start the equipment. The reason in this case may be the launch system. The master must determine the source of the breakdown, for this the condition is checked. If they are dry, this indicates that the fuel mixture is not pumped into the cylinder by the engine. This can be caused by clogging of the hole in the gas tank cap, lack of fuel and the presence of foreign objects in it. A closed fuel supply valve can cause a malfunction.

Troubleshooting

If the engine for the Krot motor cultivator does not start, then you need to open the fuel tank, free the drainage holes from foreign objects, and remove the fuel valve. Gasoline should be drained from the tank, and then the internal surfaces should be washed with clean fuel. The master will have to remove the connecting hose, which is located on the side of the carburetor. These manipulations are necessary in order to blow it along with the jets without disassembling the latter. In this case, it is recommended to use a fuel pump.

at startup

If the engine for the Krot motor cultivator does not start, despite the fact that the candles are wet, the problem of ignition system failure may be that carbon deposits are present on the electrodes of the candles. In this case, the operator will have to clean the surface of the candles using emery. After that, the elements are washed with gasoline and dried well. The cause of the problem may also be that the gap between the electrodes does not correspond to that recommended by the manufacturer. You can adjust the gap by bending the side electrode to the required size.

Additional Causes of Ignition System Failure

The engine for the Krot motor cultivator may also not work for the reason that the candle insulators are damaged. This also applies to faulty wiring. These elements must be replaced. The "Stop" key can be shorted to ground, in order to start the motor, the circuit should be eliminated. The contacts of the squares of the candles may also be broken, if this condition is met, then the contacts must be put in order. The Krot motor cultivator with a Honda engine may not start if the gap between the starter and the magnetic shoe does not match the value mentioned in the passport. The starter will need to be replaced if defects are found on it.

Compression failure

During operation, the Krot motor cultivator may require repair. The Honda engine, for example, in some cases "pleases" with a violation of compression. In this case, it is possible to launch, but this process is quite difficult. The motor will run unstable, and it will not be able to develop sufficient power. The cause may be the appearance of soot on the working surfaces of the valves. The exhaust valve is often deformed and worn out, all this leads to difficult start-up of the equipment.

Compression recovery

If you purchased a Krot motor cultivator, engine repairs may be needed after a while. When a consumer encounters the above problems, it is necessary to analyze what is the state of the engine's gas distribution mechanism. Parts that have accumulated soot must be cleaned. If some parts are damaged, they must be replaced. The operator should check how well the piston rings are. In the event of a malfunction of this unit, it will need to be replaced.

Black smoke from muffler while engine is running

If you encounter similar problems, and an excess of oil was noticed on the electrodes of the candles, then you most likely need to adjust the carburetor and replace the failed piston rings.

Engine installation

The installation of the engine on the Krot motor cultivator can be carried out independently. However, it should be understood that if the work is carried out without observing the technology, then an error can cause a quick failure of the equipment. In this case, you will encounter long-term dysfunction of the device until the problem is corrected. If you do not want to lose the equipment that is so necessary for performing many tasks, then the work should be approached with responsibility.

At the first stage, from the engine to the gearbox, the transmission must be securely fastened to the structure frame or gearbox. To carry out the work, it will be necessary to buy a special installation kit that will allow you to mount the engine in place. A new engine will need to be fixed to the site purchased from the installation kit. At the next stage, the pulley is put on the output unit. If you use the installation kit, then you can install the engine in a matter of minutes. In this case, it will be possible to use an imported motor by installing it on a unit manufactured by a domestic plant.

Carrying out an engine replacement

Replacing the engine with the Krot motor cultivator is quite often done by users on their own. Initially, the equipment is supplied with a 2.4 liter engine. With. If the engine is out of order, and you can start it, but with big problems, sometimes an electric drill is used as a starter. If you are faced with the problems described, which are complemented by the fact that the equipment stalls after heating, then the wear of the engine oil seal may be the cause. If you have an old-style generator that is capable of delivering 36 volts and has a power of 200 watts, you can use this engine as the basis of the device. It consumes about 3 liters of gasoline per hour.

Having cut the generator, you can remove the coupling with the bearing and some part of the body from it. A piece of the generator can be used as an adapter for a cultivator pulley. To form a second point of support, you can purchase Chinese bearings by attaching them to vertical bars. This element can be simply welded onto the axis of the former generator. After a replacement has been made for such an engine, any gasoline can be used. As many users emphasize, even kerosene can be used to start equipment. The maximum speed, of course, will be reduced, but it feels like the torque will increase. You should note that after this the noise level will increase, but this is not critical when operating such a device. Since the unit makes quite a lot of noise even with the "native" engine. Among other things, the manufacturer advises the use of headphones when working.

The mole cultivator has earned the trust of customers due to its reliability and simplicity of design. However, many farmers are trying in every possible way to improve the unit, improve its technical characteristics and performance.

To do this, you can purchase and install a new engine for the Krot motor cultivator - it will make the unit more powerful, which will positively affect its performance and capabilities.

Mole cultivator device

There are practically no extra parts in the configuration of the domestic unit, however, the design of the cultivator is made in such a way that the owner can use it for a variety of economic purposes. Due to the reliability of the main components, the equipment is able to withstand prolonged loads. The design of the unit consists of the following elements:

  • The frame, which is connected from two half-frames, is attached to the gearbox housing with bolts;
  • Tubular handle and bracket for the operation of attachments;
  • control levers;
  • Pneumatic wheels that are mounted on the output shafts of the gearbox;
  • 2-stroke single-cylinder engine with an air-cooling system attached to the frame - connected to the reduction shaft through a V-belt drive.

Among all the elements, the engine deserves special attention - its volume is approximately 60 cm3, torque - 6000 rpm, and power - 2.6 liters. With. The engine runs on a mixture of engine oil and gasoline.

It is not difficult to guess that the low power of the standard engine is pushing farmers to replace it. This operation is quite simple, but you will need to choose the right engine for the Mole cultivator. Below we will figure out which motor is suitable for mounting on a domestic unit.

What motors are suitable for installation on the Krot cultivator?

Among the suitable engines for most Mole units, the following models stand out:

Motor Lifan 168 FB

Power 6.5 liters. With. with 2cm pulley shaft. Some configurations have a shaft, 1.9 cm long.

The motor air filter should be equipped with an oil bath, which helps to reduce the load on the motor in dusty areas.

Imported motor Sadko DE-220, 4.2 l. With.

The shaft diameter of this motor is 1.9 cm, and the motor is started with a cord.

Patriot electric motor, 7 hp. With.

It is also quite reliable, however, an uninterruptible power supply should be located near the site.

Each of these motors fit well into the design of the cultivator, and the installation of the device will require a minimum of frame alterations.

Self-replacement of the engine - instructions and nuances

To change a standard motor to an imported one, you need to follow the instructions. The correct algorithm looks like this:

  1. First, unscrew the factory motor mount, remove the gas and mute wires;
  2. Remove the engine from the frame;
  3. Attach a new motor and mark on the frame the places where you need to drill holes;
  4. Install a new motor, put a belt on it and move it along the frame until the maximum tension of the belt. Make sure that the motor pulley and the gearbox pulley are in the same plane;
  5. Connect the motor to the frame with bolts.
  6. Connect transmission channels.

Before work, the finished structure should be "driven" at idle.

During the break-in, you will have to burn at least two gas tanks of fuel, however, such “victims” are necessary for the new engine to work properly.

I don’t know about you, but I already miss summer and spring. When it's wet, cold, dark and dirty, you really want heat, sun and light.

I have already mentioned that I am very good at agriculture, I love it to some extent and do not mind working with my hands. This feeling is indescribable and certainly joyful and positive even when the sweat pours into three streams.

In the picture above, one of my favorites is a Mole cultivator with a Chinese engine, which, over the years, has survived the transplantation of a capricious dying domestic 2-stroke and regular maintenance work. Of course, a small weak motor cultivator is not capable of cultivating a large field, cannot compete with motoblocks and mini tractors, but it is a pleasure to process several acres on it. Next, I will tell you how I put the new engine on the Mole cultivator.

The gearbox, which is already 20 years old, and the new NOMAD NT200 engine (an analogue of the Japanese HONDA GX-200 engine) work very well and help a lot in the household. Now there are a lot of wonderful equipment from different manufacturers, but if the price confuses you, try looking for an old Mole, put a new engine on it and it will last you a very long time, since the alteration consists, by and large, in 2 holes in the frame for mounting the engine, buying a new pulley and ... nothing else. Engines have hardly risen in price and cost about 6,000-7,000 rubles (for a Chinese-made 4.5-5.5-6.5 HP engine such as Champion G200HK, NOMAD NT200, Lifan), a maximum pulley of about 500, and hands, if from the shoulders, help save a couple of thousand on rework work. I assure you that the alteration is only in 2 new holes, no matter how they try to tell you in the service.

Installing the engine on the cultivator

First, as I said, you need to make a couple of new holes, increasing the engine stroke. This is necessary so that you can tighten the belt by moving the engine slightly forward.

So, we drill holes and process with a file so that the fastening bolt can move freely.

The keyed pulley you bought with the engine, there is a belt. We mount the engine with 4 bolts. Don't forget to put a washer-grover, otherwise the nuts will unscrew from the vibration. We pull the belt. The belt for the "Mole" has the brand A-750.

I fixed the engine, started it and check the clutch. Everything is okay. Keep in mind that the motor and gearbox pulleys must be aligned so that the belt does not fray too quickly.

Now need to manage. Due to the fact that the new engine has a different location for the carburetor cable - in front, the standard cable has become a bit short.

What to do?

  • Move the throttle on the handlebar lower
  • Replace cable

Honestly, there was no time to change the cable. But it's not a problem to buy the right one. The main thing is that the rope should not be soft. The task of the cable in our case is not to pull, but to push!

Connecting the gas control on the cultivator

First you need to remove the air filter. We unscrew the wing nut to get to the air damper controls.

The air filter with the housing is removed and now you need to do the following:

  • Loosen the self-locking throttle nut. The lever should move freely under the action of the spring.
  • We fasten the cable sheath under a special clamp
  • We bite off the ball at the end of the cable with side cutters and insert it into the locking nut and clamp it. The throttle release on the cultivator lever must match the same position on the engine.

In the ignition off area, there is access to the wiring in order to connect the button on the steering wheel to turn off the ignition. I did not do it. I don't ride it. Then maybe I'll do it.

Well, the main controls. This is in the instructions and on other sites. Now everything is in position to start the engine. After it warms up a little, the air damper is moved to the opposite position, air enters the carburetor and the engine starts to run more evenly and quieter on a normal benzo-air mixture.

In conclusion, I will add that on some soils the wheels should be left in the transport position and the deepening coulter should be removed.

Well, this is how the Mole is being remade for a typical engine of 4.5-6.5 forces. I will say that the speed of the new engine is slightly higher, which is noticeable only on large wheels with lugs- harder to work.

Good luck with the engine change! Good harvest!

Mole cultivators are perhaps one of the most common among all manufacturers. In addition to their many advantages, they also have disadvantages. Reading the reviews of the owners of such equipment in various forums, one can identify one main problem of all Mole units. It lies in the engine. Basically, 2-stroke motors were installed on older models. Despite the fact that they did not work badly, they nevertheless constantly made themselves felt. The engine stalled very often. And you don’t carry out any diagnostics, and no matter how you fix it, the problem still remains. Therefore, many owners began to replace low-quality 2-stroke engines with imported, more powerful and durable models.

Models of engines for the mole cultivator

The model range of such a part is quite large. It is clear that everyone differs in manufacturers and capacities. Most often, imported engines Lifan, Honda, Greenfield, Subaru are installed on the Mole.

Many owners of the Mole complain about its built-in 2-stroke engine and undertake to replace it with a more powerful one. Such an operation can, in principle, be carried out independently by adhering to all the instructions and schemes. But if you do not have such technical skills, it is still better to contact the workshop, where the engine will be replaced quickly and efficiently.

In general, in order for the engine to function normally, it needs constant proper care. So if you did not adhere to all the operating conditions for this spare part, then of course the motor can upset you with its malfunctions.

The engine for the Krot cultivator is replaced according to the standard scheme:

  1. First, drain all the oil from the engine.
  2. The gas cable is disconnected.
  3. Unscrewing the 4 lower nuts, remove the engine itself.
  4. In order for the mount to be correct and accurate, we try it on the unit.
  5. If the mounting holes do not match, then new ones will need to be made.
  6. Installing a new motor.
  7. We make adjustment of transmission belts and control systems.

Those who are just about to acquire a Mole brand unit should know that its engine must be run in. This will contribute to its normal operation in the future and help to avoid a number of future malfunctions. Absolutely every Mole cultivator has its own service manual, which details the engine break-in period. Also there you will find all the information on filling fuel and oil. Be sure to follow the proportions that are painted in the instructions. If you do not follow those elementary instructions, then you cannot avoid engine repair.

Dear gardeners!

On the eve of the next summer season, we are all faced with the need to cultivate the soil. Most use mini-agricultural equipment for this, namely a cultivator or walk-behind tractor. Moreover, the Soviet cultivator "Mole" is known to everyone.

As a rule, this unit was massively purchased 10-15 years ago and served faithfully for a long time. Serially, this cultivator was equipped with a 2.6 hp two-stroke engine, modifications were produced with a rear speed and only with a front one.

At the moment, for most gardeners, the Krot cultivator has served its time and requires a thorough repair. As a rule, the quality of modern spare parts leaves much to be desired, and native parts have worn out. After replacing one part, another breaks.

If the gearbox is working, then it is enough to replace the engine on the cultivator. Now in stores there is a large selection of engines from different manufacturers. To work in the country, feel free to choose engines from well-known Chinese manufacturers, such as Champion, Forza, Lifan etc. The main thing is to contact trusted sellers. Before buying, be sure to require a pre-sale check, that is, it must be filled with oil, gasoline and started. Fuel is paid by the buyer.

For the Mole cultivator, a 4 hp engine is enough, you can also put 5.5 hp, 6.5 hp engines.

Important! A flooded engine must not be turned over.

1.Pulley

The pulley must be selected depending on the diameter of the shaft on the new engine. As a rule, it is 18 mm, 19 mm, 20 mm.

2.Oil

The new engine is four-stroke, so you need to buy special oil for 4-stroke garden equipment. Automobile is not allowed. Do not forget that oil is poured separately, gasoline - separately (AI-92). The first oil change is done after 5 hours. Therefore, two bottles of oil are usually purchased (one of which is filled during a pre-sale check).

3. Bolts, washers, nuts.

You will need bolts to mount the motor to the frame, the pulley to the motor.

4. Gas cable- installed on request.

Now let's move on to the installation of the engine on the Krot cultivator.

Depending on the modification of the cultivator, the new engine will either perfectly fit the frame, or two additional holes will need to be drilled.

Step 1

It is necessary to install the pulley on the shaft on the engine, insert the key, adjust the distance from the engine to the pulley with washers, fasten the pulley with a bolt and washer.

Step 2

We try on the engine on the frame. At the same time, we put the belt on the engine pulley, gearbox pulley, tension roller.

In our case, the holes did not match, we had to drill new ones.

Step 3

We install the engine on the frame, fasten everything with bolts.

Step 4

Be sure to make wings for the cultivator, otherwise all the dust during cultivation will get into the engine, the air filter will become dirty very quickly.

Step 5

Let's get to work. In no case do not work at idle! Maximum - a couple of minutes we warm up the engine and get to work. The only thing is that at first we work in a sparing mode: after 10-15 minutes we let it cool. The first oil change is after 5 hours.
