Use the moment to engage a lower gear: first or second. If you missed the crossing and fly over the tracks at high speed, do not press the clutch pedal, otherwise the car may suddenly skid on bumps. 4. Smoothly release the clutch and move over bumps on very low gas. If you do this in second gear, then professional drivers will call this a “pull” movement. This kind of practice is useful, as it is not only a way to extend the life of the suspension parts of the car, but also the ability to gain “wheel feeling”, thanks to which you can confidently drive over flyovers, more precisely, avoid obstacles and park close to the curb. However, the movement on the iron tracks has contraindications. The groove of the tram rail, which prevents the car from going off the tracks at sharp bends, often has a sharp edge, like a blade. There are always such curved knives sticking out of the ground on turns, they can also come across on straight sections if the rails are old. When driving on tram tracks, the driver must be very careful, although it is not too difficult to visually assess the degree of wear of the rails.

When crossing paths at different angles at intersections, avoid braking and sudden acceleration with slipping: it is too easy to cut a tire. But even where the rails do not give reason to fear for the safety of the wheels, one must be prepared for a decrease in the effectiveness of the brakes, especially in winter, when the bare metal is covered with an ice crust: the car will slide, and even the spikes will not help.

Rules for turning left over tram rails

SDA allows a left turn through public transport lines. To make a U-turn, you need to make sure that there is no marking line located on either side of the tracks.

It is forbidden to cross the intersection if there is a sign 5.15.1 or another sign - 5.15.2 in front of it.

Some concessions

They really are. And they relate to maneuvers. So, for example, traffic is allowed on tram tracks of the same direction (2016-2017, SDA) when:

The last maneuver is allowed in the absence of a double solid between the tram tracks and sign 4.1.1, which prescribes movement only straight ahead. And also there should not be an obstacle to the advancement of the tram car and the exit to the rails of the opposite destination.

A detour is permitted only at a high density of passing traffic. Most often, if the distances between vehicles are minimal to maintain safety on the road, making the car move along the tram tracks of the same direction for possible overtaking, it is unlikely that it will be possible to return to your lane (as indicated in the SDA, paragraph 11.4). Therefore, paragraph 9.6 of the current Rules slightly expands the easing of paragraph 11.4, the part that concerns the impossibility of returning to the lane occupied earlier. It consists in allowing the use of tram tracks running with the roadway in the same direction. Nevertheless, no one cancels the rule that rail transport has an advantage over a car. Consequently, these reliefs can only be applied without interfering with the movement of the tram car.

Note to the driver

It is strictly forbidden to make maneuvers on the tram rails located on the right hand of the motorist. Non-compliance is fraught with serious consequences.

In places with heavy traffic, special markings are applied on the roadway and special prohibition road signs are installed. That is, on such a segment there will always be:

Signpost with the words "Lane",

A sign prohibiting the entry of any vehicle,

A solid white line on the pavement.

The driver must understand that the tram track is not an additional lane for the movement of vehicles.

Any maneuver must be accompanied by turn signals, which turn off only after its completion.

Traffic police officers recommend paying attention to making turns. If there is no special sign, then the maneuver must take place at right angles. There are times when drivers ignore this and turn while moving along the rails. Traffic police inspectors regard this as driving on tram rails in the opposite direction, which, of course, is taken for driving into the opposite direction and is punishable by a fine of 1,500 rubles or (less often) loss of a driver's license.

If marked

On some urban highways, there may be a continuous lane marking. This topic raises many questions in driving schools and disputes in specialized forums.

On the one hand, according to the tram tracks of the same direction, it is not prohibited, and on the other hand, as indicated in the same rule in paragraph 1.1, it is impossible to cross the continuous one.

In response to repeated requests to clarify the situation, the traffic police officially reported that this marking line shows the edge of the roadway. for ignoring these requirements prescribed by the marking of the roadway, this year they amount to one thousand and one and a half thousand rubles.

Crossing the tram track is not allowed in the following episodes:

Sometimes on city highways in front of the intersection you can see signs 5.10, 5.15.1, 5.15.2 informing about traffic in lanes or about a road with reverse traffic. In this case, penalties for leaving the rails will be mandatory. When entering a road with a sign, it must be taken into account that the sign indicates traffic only on the extreme right lane of the roadway. Rebuilding can be done only if the advising signs or special road markings allow such movement.

Left turn

According to the traffic rules, this maneuver is allowed only if the following conditions are met:

There are no markings on the road

The tram track is located to the right of the vehicle moving in the outer lane.

The driver must remember that this turn must be made in accordance with clause 8.5 of the SDA. That is, in the absence of signs 5.15.1, 5.15.2 and markings 1.18 at the turn, the tram rails running to the left and on a par with the roadway allow the car to turn left from them. The main thing is not to forget that the car should not be an obstacle for the tram car.

Penalties

Many violations involving the movement of tram tracks in the same direction are considered very rude. But there is no provision for revoking a driver's license.

The most modest of them is the crossing of a continuous strip separating the rails from the highway. In accordance with paragraph 12.16 of the SDA, this driver's mistake is punishable by a fine of 500 rubles. A fine for stopping on the rails will also be collected from the violator, making movement along the tram tracks of the passing direction. Today it is one and a half thousand rubles.

Secondary and subsequent non-compliance with the Rules of the Road may result in the loss of a driver's license for a period of at least a year. If this violation was recorded by a video camera, the fine increases to five thousand rubles.

Accidents on tram lines

The main thing to remember is that the transport department of the settlement will recover lost profits from the perpetrator of the incident through the court. After all, while waiting for traffic police inspectors, parsing, trams will not run along the route. And this is a loss for the electric transport fleet. They can amount to tens of thousands of rubles. Courts, by the way, almost always take the side of management representatives. Therefore, the car must be removed from the tracks as soon as possible.

Even if the traffic on the passing tram tracks provoked an incident in which the tram was not involved, it is necessary to draw a diagram of the accident as soon as possible, take photographs from different angles, record the telephone numbers of witnesses and remove the vehicle from the rails. Then both the victim and the culprit must come to the nearest traffic police department to draw up and sign the protocol. Or, if there are no discrepancies between the participants in the accident, you can resort to the increasingly popular scheme for registering a transport accident according to the European Protocol.
