- Shoulder blocks with sharp edges increase traction on snow and ice, crashing into slippery surfaces. They also prevent uncontrolled wheel slip when manoeuvring.
- Wedge-shaped drainage grooves remove mud and snow from under the wheels, preventing the tires from losing traction on wet surfaces.
Adapted rubber compound
To adapt the tire to the conditions of sudden temperature changes and enhance grip on snowy surfaces, the developers increased the concentration of silica and silicon additives in the rubber compound. Due to the increased content of these ingredients, the compound remains resilient and elastic even in severe cold weather, when cheaper economy class tires begin to “stone” and lose their flexibility.

The components that make up the rubber have a natural basis and do not pose the slightest danger to the environment. The environmental friendliness of tires is also due to the fact that the car consumes less fuel with them, since the surface of the tread elements has rather low rolling resistance. Put the wheels at the first cold snap. There was no snow. The first 200-300 km on dry pavement were terrifying! At a speed slightly above 40 - as if you were driving a caterpillar tractor! I had a headache at 100 km/h. (well, maybe the head is like that, more from frustration, probably)Then this sound began to go to higher speeds.
Now - after 2000 km - the sound has returned to normal. Yes, he is, but very normal, My head doesn't hurt!) I don't notice anymore. And when there is snow on the road - generally silence.
Rubber is comfortable. The suspension on the Tiguan of the second generation is stiff. This tire absorbs road bumps very well. Spikes in place. And they are very felt above the level of rubber.
I like this IG65. I advise. But immediately after installation, do not be discouraged - the noise will go away.

Nord Frost 5 was out for 4 seasons, after the third season there were practically no spikes left and it was decided to try something new. Ice Guard IG65 is just a novelty of 2017 and attracted my attention with the price and design of the tire. In addition, my summer tires of this company adequately departed for 4 years. October 29, 2018 tires were installed. At the time of writing this review, it has covered 2900 km. After running in about 800 km, it was tested on dry pavement, wet track, on ice, and also on snow. Impressions from operation... Unlike the Gislaved, I am pleased with the absence of a rumble at a speed of about 90 km/h. The noise of spikes in the cabin is not audible at all. Someone wrote that they behave badly up to their knees ... I drove in the rain and in the snow and in porridge ... Those who live in St. Petersburg and drive along the Vyborg highway know what a deep rut is there in the left lane near Aspen Grove . Rubber behaved with dignity .. The car does not leave anywhere. As for driving in the snow, it also keeps the road well, the car does not lead into a skid when cornering, although several times I specifically tried to drive the car into a skid. And as for deep snow... The tread pattern is not for off-road, of course... But so far it has never got stuck. Boxing, but rowing and pulling ... I don’t regret buying a few. While all the spikes are in place. This is the biggest disappointment I have ever experienced. After watching video reviews and vaunted articles by bloggers, I bought this samurai. Before that, there was a BU hack 7 and you know, I was more satisfied and calm about the behavior of my car. Mokka has everything good with coursework, but I don’t work on this rubber with lamellas at all: the snow just sticks to the surface, a sliding effect is obtained. It pissed me off. On dry pavement, it is not comfortable, it does not make much noise, but in terms of grip - a cow on ice. In general, it is not clear what element for her.
