Renault Kangoo 2 test drive for a long time. Renault Kangoo"Facing the city"

22.09.2019

If there is no transport company label on the back of the Renault Kangoo driver, you can safely glue the inscription “Summer Resident” there. But he can wear that uniform with pride. After all, this is not the summer resident on a sedan, in which the rear window is tightly “tinted” with seedlings, a rake sticks out of the door, a couple of bags are tied on the roof, and the exhaust pipe clings to the asphalt. Our summer resident does not cause laughter from others - in Kangoo all the same fits unnoticed by prying eyes. There is also a place for a mother-in-law with a cat ...

And damn it, I liked being in the shoes of such a “correct” summer resident! I took the junk out of the garage to the dump (finally!), took the huge chair to the relatives - I just put it in the back, folding the back seat. He worked as a camera car - the operators are delighted with the sliding doors and the sunroof. I could have continued to perform feats, but my colleagues took away the keys - they also had to transport something ...

Kangoo, which is at the junction of passenger and commercial vehicles, is as practical as possible. Everywhere (even on the ceiling!) Drawers, pockets, shelves. Five full-fledged seats are complemented by a huge trunk. Do you need to transport a "long vehicle"? We put the passenger seat in the horizon - and forward. Not enough of this - you can open one of the wings of the back door.

However, among the buyers of Kangoo there will certainly be those who don’t even have a dacha. Their spacious interior will captivate others - with its "airiness". The roof is somewhere high, the window sill is low (for a high-seated driver), the glass is huge - salvation for those suffering from claustrophobia. Toning Kangoo is the height of stupidity!

And all this for over eight hundred thousand - at the price of an ordinary golf class. Of course, Renault is not finished so exquisitely and is equipped with a simpler one - air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors, heating, music of the class “plays well”. Yes, there is Bluetooth! True, when talking on the phone it is better to slow down, otherwise the caller will think that you are on the subway - Kangoo is not the quietest car.

And not the fastest. Renault offers a choice of two engines: “gasoline” 1.6 and a 1.5-liter diesel – both exclusively with mechanics. The first is more powerful (102 hp versus 86), the second is more torquey (200 Nm instead of 145). The first is faster on the highway and quieter, the second is more cheerful in the city and more economical (minus 1.5-2 l / 100 km). But the essence is the same - the main thing is how to press it properly ... no, not the gas pedal. The rider that's in you. Yes, I understand this is not an easy step. But he, believe me, will emphasize all the advantages of Renault Kangoo and at the same time mask the shortcomings.

And, of course, the mother-in-law with the cat will be just happy.

TEXT: VALERY ARUTIN

So they called in Soviet times people who competently managed enterprises. Imagine - in the days of a planned economy and centralized management, this was not easy! Now is a different time, but you also have to spin - this time in order to please customers. Renault Kangoo "spins" between economic summer residents and business entrepreneurs

And there are many rivals around, and two of them are “French”. There are also “Germans”, among whom an “ally” was unexpectedly found: a premium “heel” Mercedes Citan was created on the basis of Renault Kangoo. Speaking between us, it’s not that premium (I saw it from the inside - frankly, it’s far from a design masterpiece), but the brand speaks for itself, and the price too.

But now the fuel runs out, which the on-board computer begins to warn about when gasoline remains for about 66 km. By the way, with the remaining fuel for a run of 50 km, the indication disappears. What are we going to run? On the back of the fuel filler cap, three grades of fuel are indicated at once: "91", "95" and "98". Eyes open! Members of specialized forums on the Internet also disagree. Some believe that only "95" gasoline should be trusted, others believe that this grade is too often "body", and "92" gasoline is cleaner, so you need to refuel with it.

I try - and see noticeable changes in the behavior of Kangoo. First of all, it becomes… a little faster. Yes, the acceleration time from 60 to 80 km / h improves by about a second, and from 80 to 120 km / h - by as much as two seconds, both in third and fourth gear! It's hard to judge economics. I used up two tanks of various fuels in various conditions, on the “95th” the car was able to move faster (it was freer on the highway). Therefore, the 1.2-liter "economy" of low-octane fuel can be attributed to the difference in measurement conditions. When refueling "95th" gasoline, Kangoo consumed an average of about 8.7 liters per 100 km on the highway, when refueling "92nd" - about 7.5 liters.

In any case, the real fuel consumption, regardless of its octane number, is higher in a French car than indicated in the technical specifications. Ideally, Kangoo should “drink” 6.3 liters of fuel per “hundred” on the highway, and 7.9 liters in the combined cycle. Probably, if you keep the tachometer needle in the ECO zone, it will work out. But, I repeat, you will quickly get bored, moving along the highway at speeds of 60-70 km / h. If you don't fall asleep earlier.

But the noise of the engine when using the "92nd" gasoline, according to sensations, increases. In general, the French "heel" when driving at high speeds is by no means quiet. His tires make a great noise (Continental VancoContact), at speeds close to 100 km / h, the whistle of the oncoming air flow begins to penetrate into the cabin. And in the range of 110-120 km / h, the car's units enter into a kind of resonance, and a noticeable monotonous rumble begins to be heard outside. Pick up speed a little higher or reset lower - the hum disappears. But since this speed range is optimal for driving on the highway, you have to listen to the mournful buzz for a long time.

For normal acceleration, the 1.6-liter 100-horsepower Kangoo engine has to be “twisted”, moreover, to almost 4000 rpm. In the "torn" urban mode, you have to constantly accelerate (and brake), it is rarely possible to move with uniform speed. On the highway more often, only the speed of 60-70 km / h is unlikely to suit you. Dial a little more - and that's it, no ECO.

So, when filling the tank with "92" gasoline, this rumble begins to be heard earlier and sounds longer. But what you hear is the hum, and nothing else. There are no signs of detonation when using the 92nd gasoline from the side of the engine compartment. Also, there is no noticeable change in the position of the arrow of the coolant temperature indicator: in any of the driving modes, it is in the middle of the instrument scale and does not move.

At speeds close to 130 km / h, the "heel" begins to scour slightly, directional stability, in general, is not bad, it decreases to this mark. But in general, he should be commended for following the course and neglecting the asphalt ruts. They are practically non-existent for a car. Perhaps this is the merit of Continental tires. In that case, it's a pity that these tires are prone to wear quickly. Over 23,000 kilometers of the test car, they were pretty worn out - but they probably changed for the winter to others. However, choosing tires for Renault Kangoo is easy, it has a common tire size - 195 / 65R15. According to the state, in any configuration, steel stamped wheels are put on it, the surcharge for "casting" is about 19,000 rubles.

Does it make sense to lay out about 16,000 rubles for the installation of a stabilization system, judge for yourself. She was present at the test copy of the car - and, so to speak, declared her capabilities. But not at once. When the empty car was “spinning up” on a dirt platform, the icon started flashing early, but the engine was “suffocated” far from immediately. On the other hand, as soon as I set off with too much “gas” on the asphalt sprinkled with sand, the electronics instantly “slowed down” acceleration. And, frankly, it was not at the right time: I intended to jump out of the construction yard into the street in front of a car approaching from the left ... True, along with the system, a button to turn it off is also mounted on Kangoo. This is a plus. On some other cars of the concern, only non-switchable ESP is installed.

What else is “deprived” of the regular equipment of the car? Surprisingly, metallic coloring requires an additional payment (about 16,000 rubles). It makes sense to fork out for it, since the “metal” enamel is stronger than usual (no noticeable damage to the paintwork on the test car was noticed). None of the kits include side airbags (plus about 9,000 rubles). The Autentique version can be upgraded with air conditioning (this will cost close to 25,000 rubles) and heated front seats (21,000 rubles). And Expression can be supplemented with a panoramic roof worth about 16,000 rubles.

On broken roads and primers, the “heel” demonstrates the stiffness of the suspension. The front is a MacPherson strut, the back is a torsion beam. When looking at the car from behind from below, it is clear that the lower cups of the suspension springs have longitudinal reinforcement ribs. Perhaps this is good in terms of carrying capacity. But the claimed ground clearance of 158mm is not strictly true: the distance from these amplifiers to the ground is only 130mm. However, the "clearance" under the middle of the beam is 180 mm.

Unfortunately, when driving over bumps, almost all the plastic elements of the cabin come into motion. If they “sound” like that with a relatively small car mileage, what will happen next? Passengers immediately notice this and complain about the noise. Thus, for family use, this “heel” is not particularly comfortable. Although in all other respects it is more than convenient and practical.

It remains to be wished that the next generation of Renault Kangoo get a better interior finish. It would have received options such as a multimedia system with navigation and a more advanced on-board computer. Detachable second row seats are desirable. And, of course, a six-speed manual transmission would be very pleasing to a practical driver. With her, the “heel” would become noticeably more economical.

Unfortunately, such a convenient car in almost all respects barely holds its position in our market. Here he is desperately "crushed" by a competitor named LADA Largus, which is sold almost 25 (!!) times better. And no wonder, because it costs half as much, while offering almost the same voluminous body, plus a seven-seater version. In its "passive" and more modest equipment, and the worst ergonomics, and the Russian assembly (Kangoo comes to us from France). But in the "asset" - the price, the proven and reliable "Logan" chassis, the prevalence of spare parts ... in general, the buyer has something to vote for with his hard-earned money ...

Where they bought the car, it doesn’t matter at all if there would be reliable documents. The dealer determines the set-off value according to the European program Renault with mileage, adapted to local conditions. In reality, the average market price minus 15% is obtained. A so-called quick buyout is also possible. In this case, instead of a new car, the dealer puts money on the barrel, keeping about 30% for urgency. The most expensive product is the one that is accepted from the owner for a commission. He sets his own price. At the same time, you should not be very greedy: after a month, they begin to charge storage fees from illiquid assets - 50 rubles a day.

Preparation for sale for non-core brands comes down mainly to washing and dry cleaning. At Renault additionally eliminate defects that directly affect traffic safety. More thorough repairs will be done only at the request of the seller or buyer. It's worth it, because in this case the service is subject to a special "internal" price. The client will also be reassured by firm commitments for the work done and spare parts. Proponents of garage service will have to limit themselves to legal guarantees.

Thanks to significant purchase discounts and small investments in pre-sales, selling prices on the local secondary market are moderate - just below the average. But not only this attracts customers. A rather exotic representative of the automotive fauna is found here - Renault Kangoo. It is not easy to find him on the site - more than half of the secondary machines worked in commercial enterprises and, upon retirement, they are willingly bought up by local employees. The secret is simple - the passenger modification (we are talking about it), although it works on parcels, it does not carry bricks and cement, but one or two workers, and besides, without luggage. Serve this transport, of course, not in garages, but in dealerships according to established schedules. This means that the next owner will get a well-maintained car with an open pedigree. Fortunately, a decent part still goes to the trade-in. Here you can also find copies from private owners. They usually have less mileage, but they cost 5-7% more. There is no economic justification for the price difference - only the human factor works.

Dealership vehicles 2001–2005 can be bought with only one engine - a 1.4-liter 8-valve, designed for 92nd gasoline. The "gray" cars (most - 1998-2000) have more options - gasoline engines up to 2 liters, automatic transmissions and diesel, which is unpopular with us. Prices for the entire range range from $6,000 to $13,000. Sales volume is relatively small – 8–10 Kangoo per month.

UNIVERSAL
It was possible to find a suitable car in stock only by resorting to an appointment. Cargo-passenger Renault Kangoo 2003 with a mileage of 49 thousand km was offered for $11 thousand (the cost of a new one is $15.1 thousand). The basic package included a central lock and two airbags, as options were present: an alarm, floor mats and a shelf above the windshield.

Creators Kangoo, sacrificing swift contours, managed to build a somewhat awkward-looking, but surprisingly functional car. It is comfortable to ride in it: simple-shaped seats hold the body well, but do not press anywhere. The high landing provides excellent visibility and is comfortable not only in the city, but also on a long journey. Moderately short pillow does not press under the knees, and the kinematics of the pedals do not force you to reach out and slide forward. Behind, if necessary, fit four. Three passengers of average build here, at least, breathe easily, since the ceiling is high and there is a lot of air. True, due to the huge glazing area, combined with blind rear windows, the air will be hot in summer. It is better not to go to the warm sea without an air conditioner - the chance to turn into a hot one is too great.

The trunk will easily fit the belongings necessary for a long journey, and in addition, an inflatable boat, a barbecue, an emergency supply of gasoline and fresh water will enter. Luggage will not hang around the body - there are enough fastening loops in the compartment. An absolutely flat floor (thanks to the compact torsion bar suspension!) is also covered with an easy-to-clean rubber carpet with excellent friction properties. The rear sofa is folded in two stages - first, the back is placed on a pillow, and then the sandwich is placed vertically. In the resulting cubic capacity, a pair of medium-sized refrigerators can easily fit. Loaders will not have to strain, because inside you can stand up almost to your full height, and the loading height is barely above the knee. At the same time, the rear door resting on gas stops serves as a reliable shelter from the weather. But closing it is inconvenient - only gutta-percha boys can hold a considerable mass by the only recess in the end, and even with an interception in the middle of the move. If you do not hold, the blow is so strong that the machine rolls forward in pain. Less common are options with hinged rear doors, even less often with two side doors (right and left).

Interestingly, at the lifting door, the self-adjusting hinge of the lock swings freely, without closing the power structure of the opening, even with the door lowered. And note that it does not creak on the go! That's what sufficient body rigidity means. By the way, the huge, almost flat interior trim panels are just as silent. Even the self-tapping screws that are not screwed in some places (they will just fall on the passenger’s head) fastening the shelf above the windshield and the native radio tape recorder dangling in the nest do not emit extraneous sounds.

Traditionally for the “French”, the placement of the spare wheel is outside the body under the rear overhang. If a puncture happens, you don’t have to rake the contents of the trunk onto the asphalt. The car in general is distinguished by many carefully thought-out decisions.

Take at least a microclimate system for the battery - with a personal air duct and a heat-insulating shield. In such heavenly conditions, he is surely destined for a long life. A good impression left the inspection of the lower part of the machine. Simple suspensions look durable, there are no protruding elements under the bottom, and all vulnerabilities are securely covered with steel screens. Combined with the high ground clearance, this allows you to drive fearlessly on dirt roads.

But don't think that Kangoo- the perfect car, something still did not like. Where did the ridiculous gas tank cap come from, which you have to hold in your hands when refueling - there is nowhere to put it, and it does not fit in a jacket pocket? The hood tilted forward on a wide car is hardly justified, since even with daily maintenance it forces the driver to beat around the bush.

The keys of the power windows, obviously attached “in place”, are inconvenient, the remote audio control panel, blocked by the spoke of the steering wheel, is unsuccessfully located. It’s not so easy to get to the back seat - due to the lack of a handrail, the body hangs in the air at some point, and then falls with a flurry onto the seat belt buckle standing by a stake. Additional inconvenience is delivered by a high floor tunnel and limited space for the feet.

The high-torque power of a modest motor with a volume of only 1.4 liters, moreover, an eight-valve, is striking. There is also a considerable merit of the box, the gear ratios of which are ideally combined with the characteristics of the engine. Suspension Kangoo harsh, which, however, corresponds to the ideology of a family truck. After all, this car asks to be an assistant to lovers of outdoor activities, travel and just practical owners who prefer functionality to beauty. An honest car, although it could be cheaper.

Renault kengo

Renault Kangoo is a multifunctional compact van of the "heel" type, the production of which began in 1998. It is currently available in several versions (passenger and cargo, 2-, 3- and 4-door) with all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive. The model is produced at the factories of the French brand in Turkey, Argentina and France.

At Renault Kengo one of the highest safety indicators - 4 EuroNCAP stars. In its class, the model has one of the longest suspensions and spacious interiors, which provides the best roominess. Among other advantages of the model, high efficiency and good dynamics should be highlighted.

Model history and purpose

1 generation

The history of Renault Kangoo began in 1997. At an exhibition in Geneva, the French automaker presented a futuristic Pangea prototype. A year later, a serial version of the car appeared. Renault Kengo practically did not differ from the conceptual version in terms of design. However, they were structurally different. The body shape of the car resembled a typical "heel".

Initially, the car was offered exclusively with one sliding door at the rear. In 1998, versions with sliding doors on both sides appeared. Such a decision was a unique feature of Renault Kangoo, and in terms of popularity, the model was ahead of even minibuses and minivans in Europe.

In 2001, the French performed a Renault Kangoo facelift, adding an all-wheel drive version of the Trekka (Pampa) to the product line. At that time, only some "classmates" could boast of this option. The all-terrain version was distinguished by black plastic lining, tinted headlights and increased ground clearance.

The appearance of the model has also changed. The hood, front bumper, grille and headlights have been redesigned. Plastic for the car was chosen to be of higher quality, and sound insulation was improved.

The whole truth about Renault Kangoo (Renault Kangoo)

In that video everything you need to know about Renault Canggu. Weaknesses and strengths, owner interviews, all technical…

The model was offered to the Russians with 2 engines: a 1.4-liter gasoline unit (75 hp) and a 1.5-liter turbodiesel (68 hp). All-wheel drive versions were not delivered to Russia.

Despite the incredible popularity, Renault Kengo I had a number of drawbacks:

  • models of the first years of production were subject to corrosion;
  • rear door locks and a sliding door mechanism were enough for 1-2 years of work;
  • the cooling system lost its tightness;
  • the transmission mount was too soft and was expressed in a large shift of the gearshift lever with an increase in gas;
  • bushings and stabilizer struts and ball bearings of levers quickly wore out;
  • regularly there were problems with the wiring (contact was lost, malfunction indicators lit up);
  • plastic in the cabin quickly began to creak.

Serial production of the first Renault Kangoo ended in 2007, but the model was offered to the Russians until 2010.

2 generation

In 2008, the premiere of the second generation Renault Kengo. The car was produced in 4 modifications: Compact, Van, Van Maxi and Van Maxi Crew Van, differing in capacity (500-800 kg). External transformations were on the face. The body of the model has become longer, and the front has acquired a futuristic look (some elements were borrowed from Renault Megan). Inside, there are new finishing materials, an updated climate control unit and a redesigned dashboard.

A year later, the French introduced the electric Renault Kangoo Z.E, which differed from the original only structurally.

In 2013, the car was updated. Key changes included a new front end, a separate display for climate control, improved noise isolation and sealing, and a new steering wheel. The line of power units was supplemented by a diesel of the Energy family and a powerful gasoline engine. The exterior of the model has acquired confident and powerful features. Instead of rounded ones, more "muscular" lines appeared. The brand logo has become more visible. Against the background of the black grille, it stood out especially. Additional confidence in the image was betrayed by a large rounded hood. The model was offered to the Russians in 2 trim levels (Authentique and Expression).

Renault cars kengo are among the most sold in Russia. The model is especially popular in small and medium-sized businesses, among private entrepreneurs and sales representatives. A comfortable and roomy interior allows you to transport goods over long distances or take a large family out of the city with convenience. Thanks to its high functionality and reliability, Renault Kangoo can be used to achieve various goals at minimal cost.
