Problems Nissan Pathfinder R51
Which diesel engine to choose
2.5 (YD25DDTi) or 3.0 (V9X)?

"Not all diesels stink the same - Master class from our diesel sommelier."

The main question that arises when choosing a Nissan Pathfinder is What's the Difference diesel engines 2.5 174 forces and 2.5 190 forces, what is the difference between 2.5 and 3.0 diesel engines? The short answer is the characteristic problems that will be discussed now. However, there is one more important one that is often overlooked.

What Nissan Pathfinder problems do you fear the most? Ordinary car enthusiasts are usually afraid of repairing a turbine, beaten and criminal cars. As in the case of cars, where buyers are unreasonably afraid of air suspension, but forget about the problems of diesel fuel equipment and gasoline engines, Pathfinder's main problems lie precisely in the fuel supply and injection units.

The problems of Nissan Pathfinder fuel injectors are the wear of the pressure-retaining valve mechanism and the spray nozzle. The reason is, as usual, negligence and savings. Low-quality diesel fuel first destroys the nozzles and, later on, the valve itself - the nozzles begin to pour fuel into the cylinders in excess of the norm. Symptoms of wear of fuel injectors are the smell of diesel and blue smoke from the exhaust system; in especially advanced cases of fuel overflow, water hammer can occur.

I want to make a reservation that almost all diesel engines are worn out to one degree or another, so the task of our auto experts is to determine the degree of wear and the number of worn fuel injectors. The cost of one nozzle at the beginning of 2018 is ~ 25-35 thousand rubles.

Differences between the diesel engine 2.5 l dorestyle and restyling YD25DDTi
(2.5 174 forces and 2.5 190 forces) and the characteristic problems of the Nissan Pathfinder.

In 2009, due to problems with the Nissan Pathfinder diesel engine, a new modification of the YD25DDTi was released, which was very different from its predecessor in terms of reliability. Main differences:

Problems Nissan pathfinder R51 2.5 - Operational and age-related diseases

Problems Nissan Pathfinder 3.0 Diesel (V9X) - what is true and what is fiction

We often hear from clients that 3.0 is a whimsical engine, this is not entirely true and we will try to understand the nuances and sores.

EGR valve and particulate filter. The problem is not worth a damn. The particulate filter is not a troublesome unit if you even occasionally leave the city on the highway. If necessary, the V9X particulate filter is cut out and the ECU is reflashed. Moscow is full of companies ready to do this operation within a few hours. The EGR valve is usually turned off along with cutting out the particulate filter and chipping the engine.
The only disadvantage of the absence of the USR valve is the longer warm-up of the diesel engine in winter.

There is a myth that a 3.0 diesel engine has a short resource and cranks liners for many. In fact, the reason for these rumors is not at all in the internal combustion engine. The devil is in the details - the reason for the oil starvation of Nissan engines and especially the 3.0 V9X are defective oil filters (Nissan original) with an article ending in "60A". The rubber gasket is sucked out of the filter and stuck in the oil passages. The Internet is full of photos and discussions of this incident, however, many still learn about this problem exclusively from their own engine.

Active engine mounts dampen diesel vibration better, and thicker soundproofing of the engine compartment is also installed. Concern Nissan is not in vain so confused, because the same engine is installed on the Infiniti FX30d.
Nissan Pathfinder with a 3.0 diesel was sold with richer trim levels and mostly seven-seater.

Instead of a 5-speed gearbox, paired with a 3.0 diesel engine, a 7-speed JATCO gearbox From Infiniti FX is installed. Finally, the engine thrust and cooling system are much more thoughtful and perfect than the outdated YD family. No CVTs have ever been installed by Nissan on the Pathfinder.

Diagnostics Nissan Pathfinder R51 - Where is it better?

“Hurrying up with the choice of a diagnostic organization or service is worse than buying blindly”

The number of services and organizations offering to conduct Diagnostics Nissan Pathfinder or just help in buying a Nissan car, it is extremely great. At the same time, the vast majority of companies or service stations do not have a “profile” or specialization. In the boxes are usually both Lada Granta and old BMWs, and the staff changes every couple of months. The profile of such organizations is the replacement of oils, pads, wheel alignment and suspension diagnostics. Usually, due to low salaries, experienced locksmiths leave such services or open their own “garage” service stations.

In recent years, independent certification centers have appeared, such as Auto.ru Certification or Carprice Diagnostics. These centers also do not have specialization, so their diagnosis is extremely superficial.
We know many examples when Auto.ru certification missed serious malfunctions and gave good marks. (Examples can be found and.)

The diagnosis of an aged Pathfinder should also not be trusted by official dealers. First of all, because of the specifics of the work of the OD. Officials never do repairs, the whole point of their activity is to change oils / pads and SKD replacements. Dealers never repair anything themselves. Even the input diagnostics of the cars they buy back is periodically carried out not by the dealer itself, but by a contractor ().

Companies engaged in car selection in Moscow also not always the right way to buy a used Nissan. If the organization’s website contains general words, there is no portfolio, and the manager cannot tell anything about the car over the phone except for clichés and stereotypes, there is no point in contacting such a company. A car will be selected for you according to your parameters, but the entire selection will be based on the number of owners and the condition of the body.

We recommend that you contact companies that specialize within one brand or range of models, for example, companies that only deal with the selection of BMWs, if you want to buy an X5 aged. A good alternative is club services, but they are more interested in maintenance and repairs. Nissan diagnostics before purchase has never been a large source of income for service stations. Our dear fellow citizens are still buying cars without pre-purchase diagnostics and subsequently write angry reviews about car dealerships like ATC "Moscow" or tell stories about how their engine / automatic transmission “crumbled” on “100 thousand” twisted mileage.

Despite the Japanese roots, Pathfinder diagnostics should be no less thorough than checking a diesel Mercedes.

Diagnostics Nissan Pathfinder - Five kopecks about lifts and service stations

In the light of all of the above, I want to emphasize that the Nissan diagnostics before buying on a lift does not allow you to check even half of the critical “sores” of the Pathfinder.

In addition to the impossibility of checking the transmission, turbine, engine and fuel equipment in a stationary service, service stations have another extremely important and negative feature.
Service personnel often not only do not know the nuances and weaknesses of Nissan, but also assert things that contradict the real facts. For example, we met several times with statements from service providers about the need to replace the timing belt on chain engines or computer diagnostics using a cheap ELM327 issued by management as an unrealistic innovation.

Often, service station employees diagnose the Nissan variator on cars with an automatic multi-stage gearbox, including the Nissan Pathfinder R51. By the way, checking the variator before buying is not so difficult. On Nissan cars, this only requires a long test drive in different modes on a warm transmission fluid and access to the gearbox dipstick.

In conclusion, I want to add that most of our clients do not read articles and do not know about us because of specific advertising on avito and auto.ru. However, after the very first on-site diagnostics, they take business cards and recommend them to friends.

Selection Nissan Pathfinder R51 2.5/3.0

“Every second Nissan Pathfinder has at least once been in Astrakhan fishing or planted in the mud up to the window frames.”

Contrary to all the stereotypes about Nissan and other brands of car selection services, it is impossible to choose a specific car without ownership experience and knowledge of the specifics of the model. Even though all cars have four wheels, an engine and gearbox, the principles of operation of which are unchanged - the devil always lies in the nuances, the repair of which is very expensive.

Nissan Pathfinder, despite its Japanese origin, is by no means a simple and hassle-free car. If you make a rating of the difficulty of selecting a Nissan, then the Pathfinder will be in second place after the Nissan Patrol Y62. The thing is that despite the relative reliability of the units, these cars suffer greatly from operation in extreme conditions and the depressing economy of the owners. In addition, the restyling and dorestyling of the R51 Pathfinder seriously differ in typical problems, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Our company has vast experience in the selection of Nissan Pathfinder. In this article, we will outline the main problems of the Nissan Pathfinder R51 platform.

Selection of Pathfinder in Moscow is not just a fight against outbids, masquerading as private traders and lying in ads. Many of the options rejected by our auto experts have technical flaws that contradict the safe and trouble-free operation of the buyer, and not just a duplicate title and a painted fender with a door.

Based on conscience and morality, then the selection of Nissan Pathfinder or any other car should be carried out on the basis of technical diagnostics of each instance that meets the criteria. For most car pick-up companies in Moscow, there are no boundaries in the field of activity and the level of quality of their services is incredibly low. If the autoexpert does not understand anything about a particular model, then all his checks are worthless. It’s not enough just to know that the Nissan Pathfinder has a frame and a turbine, you need to know all the subtleties, “sores” and weaknesses, as well as the symptoms of their manifestation.

If an amateur or a buyer unfamiliar with the model will be engaged in the selection of a Nissan car, then there is a high probability of buying severe hemorrhoids. In the Nissan Pathfinder Problems section, we have provided a description of the faults, their roots, symptoms, and solutions.

“I will buy a Pathfinder with one owner up to 100 thousand kilometers and fix the fuel injectors with the turbine as a gift.”

Our advice is to stick to a few basic rules for finding and choosing a Nissan Pathfinder R51.

Starting work on the selection of Nissan Pathfinder

  • Nissan Pathfinder restyle, 2.5 diesel, preferably 3.0 (V9X)
  • 1-2 owners
  • Salon in good condition, top of the range in priority
  • No need for costly repairs
  • Without duplicate TCP
  • Legally clean, wines on the frame must be free of corrosion
  • No major accidents.
  • Only a serviceable transmission without the classic Pathfinder aged problems
  • Budget 1.15-1.3 million
  • Mileage preferably up to 100 thousand, in priority as little real mileage as possible

The third generation Nissan Pathfinder (factory index R51) was first introduced on the North American continent in 2005. Pathfinder is based on the Nissan Navara pickup truck. The assembly of Pathfinder SUVs for the European continent is carried out in Spain.

Engines

The list of available power units initially included: turbodiesel with a working volume of 2.5 l / 174 hp. and gasoline aspirated V6 with a volume of 4.0 l / 269 hp. Later, after restyling in 2010 (R51M), the 2.5-liter diesel added power and began to develop 190 hp, and instead of the gasoline V6, they began to install a 3.0-liter diesel V6 with a return of 231 hp.

The most popular among power units is a 4-cylinder turbodiesel 2.5 l (YD25). Its weak point is the cylinder head. Cases of cracks in the head are not uncommon. The reason is long-term work under heavy load and overheating. The problem arose after 100-150 thousand km. The cost of a new "head" at dealers is about 70-80 thousand rubles, and the full estimate of the replacement work is more than 100,000 rubles. A similar block head in online auto parts stores is cheaper - about 30-40 thousand rubles.

When replacing the oil filter, some negligent craftsmen break off the fitting on the vacuum valve, which causes the turbine to stop functioning. The cost of a new valve is about 6-7 thousand rubles. By negligence, the plastic tip of the tee of the heating tube block may also be broken. This results in coolant leakage. For a new "tee" you will have to pay about 4-6 thousand rubles.

With a run of more than 60-100 thousand km, the turbine often begins to “howl”. Reason: wear on the rod through which gases escape. With heating, the metal expands, the gap decreases, and the "leakage" of gases decreases, so the howl subsides. The gap in no way affects the efficiency of the turbine, “howling” is a specific age feature. The turbocharger itself easily reaches 300-400 thousand km.

Fuel injectors begin to "pour" after 120-150 thousand km. Nozzles are not repaired, the cost of a new one is about 12-15 thousand rubles.

Upgraded 190 hp YD25 engine received a slightly modified cylinder head and a turbocharger with an electrical control system. After 10-30 thousand km, Pathfinder owners, more often than 2010-2011, experienced a loss of traction, accompanied by the illumination of the MIL indicator. "The blues" appeared periodically and spontaneously. When dealing with a problem, official services calibrated the turbine and flashed the ECU. If the disease recurred, then the turbocharger was changed. The cause of the malfunction lay in the turbine control unit. Separately, the control unit does not change, so the "officials" updated the turbine assembly. Many managed to "cure" the turbocharger after cleaning and soldering the contacts in the block.

The number of 3-liter V9X diesels is not yet large. The most common reason for contacting services is the jamming of the EGR valve with a mileage of more than 50-80 thousand km. This problem also occurred on the YD25 diesel.

On many Nissan Pathfinder diesel engines, after 50-70 thousand km, the pipes connecting the turbine to the intercooler begin to “sweat”. Oiling indicates the appearance of microcracks, which will soon increase. The pipes will have to be replaced.

Gasoline aspirated VQ40 is quite reliable. Engine problems sometimes arose due to the destruction of the ceramic catalyst filler, small particles of which fell into the cylinders. Due to the abrasive effect of particles on the walls of the cylinders, scoring appeared, and oil consumption increased significantly.

Owners of a Nissan Pathfinder older than 5-6 years old often encounter a fuel level sensor failure: the pointer needle sticks to "maximum" or drops to "0". The manufacturer provides for the replacement of the fuel pump assembly, the cost of which at dealers is about 18,000 rubles and about 8,000 rubles in “regular stores”. In addition, to replace the pump, you will have to remove the tank, since there is no technological hole in the body for these purposes.

At a run of more than 100,000 km, the overrunning clutch of the generator or its bearings may fail. Extraneous noise will tell you about this: crackling or squeaking. The cost of a new clutch is about 6,000 rubles at dealers and about 2-3 thousand rubles at regular auto parts stores. For two original bearings, you will have to pay an additional 2 thousand rubles, and for an analogue - about 1 thousand rubles. The work done is estimated at about 5 thousand rubles. This clutch is not installed on the gasoline version of the Pathfinder.

Transmission

On pre-styling Pathfinders, there were often problems with the rear gearbox. The problem gearbox was replaced under warranty.

The rumble and vibrations at high speeds after 80-120 thousand kilometers owe their appearance to the crosses of the cardan shafts. The cost of a new cross is about 1.5-2.5 thousand rubles. They are also the culprits of the squeak that occurs when reversing. Transfer case seals will last more than 100-150 thousand km.

Only the Nissan Pathfinder with a 2.5 liter turbodiesel was equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox. There are no problems with the box itself. But the grip was too weak. Most often, it has to be changed even up to 100 thousand km, but under gentle operating conditions it can last up to 150-180 thousand km. A set of a new original clutch is not cheap - about 40 thousand rubles, an analogue is a little more affordable - about 30 thousand rubles.

A 5-speed "automatic" was installed in tandem with any of the Pathfinder engines. Automatic transmission is able to confidently drive more than 200-250 thousand km without repair. The hydraulic block may be the cause of the malfunction. The cost of a new valve body at dealers is about 50-60 thousand rubles, in online stores to order - about 30-45 thousand rubles. Often the box "dies" not from natural wear and tear, but because of mixing its working fluid with antifreeze. The preparation of the "death cocktail" takes place in the lower part of the radiator due to the leakage of the heat exchanger (the lower radiator tank). The cost of a new radiator is from 10 to 20 thousand rubles. There is only one harbinger of trouble - slippage. If you catch yourself in time, then you can get off only by washing the box, otherwise - replacing the valve body and clutches. Problems with the automatic transmission are sometimes added by a design flaw: the bolt for fastening the plastic lining of the front bumper frays the box's oil cooling pipe.

Chassis

The bushings and struts of the front stabilizer serve more than 60-80 thousand km, the rear one more than 80-120 thousand km. Wheel bearings run over 100-150 thousand km. The cost of a new hub at dealers is about 17-18 thousand rubles, on the side - about 8-9 thousand rubles. The suspension arms and ball joints, steering tips and rods go the same amount.

Knocks in the steering of the Pathfinder when driving over bumps are not uncommon. The culprit of the "celebration" on the pre-styling model is the steering shaft cardan. After replacing with a rubber-metal analogue of a new sample, knocks disappear. The cost of a cardan is about 300-400 rubles, and replacement work is about 6-7 thousand rubles. In the restyled version of the Pathfinder, knocks in the steering occur due to wear on the splines on the crimp structure at the bottom of the steering shaft.

Some Nissan Pathfinder owners report brake pedal failure and reduced deceleration performance. The problem may appear both after 20-30 thousand km, and only after 200,000 km. In most cases, the cause of trouble in the master brake cylinder. The cost of the new "main" is about 10,000 rubles.

Other problems and malfunctions

The paintwork, traditionally for most automakers, is weak: it is easily scratched and quickly overgrown with chips. Already after the first winter, “spiders” (small swellings of paint) may appear on the hood, front pillars, on the roof above the windshield, but most often on the rear tailgate. The chrome coating of the decorative elements of the body trim also suffers.

Due to problems with the valve in the headlight washer pipeline, nozzles often begin to “poison”. Many are faced with the appearance of cracks on the glazing of the front headlight unit near the wing. The reason is a strong internal stress due to the fastening features. Some lucky people have to change the headlights almost once a year. Although the cases are not isolated, dealers, when accepting a car, are sincerely surprised by what they see every time.

The peeling “leather upholstery” of the seats and steering wheel is another sad reality of most modern cars, incl. and Nissan Pathfinder (after 20-40 thousand km). Over time, the plastic pads on the steering wheel spokes are also wiped.

There are also problems with the contacts of the power window control buttons, power seats and their heating. Often you have to deal with a break in the steering cable, which causes the buttons on the steering wheel to stop working, the sound signal, or the airbag malfunction indicator lights up. The cost of a new loop at dealers is about 4 thousand rubles, in online stores - about 2 thousand rubles.

Often the regular navigation system is buggy - the monitor goes out. On its own, the system can get out of the stupor only after a few hours. If the lethargic dream has not stopped, then the navigation unit will have to be replaced. Dealers, when asked about the reasons for this behavior, answer that special zones operate this way. Anomaly? When such "jumps" appear, electricians recommend removing the plug of the active GPS antenna from the socket and not using it again.

If smudges appear on the racks near the ceiling and the ceiling, it is necessary to check the condition of the rubber bands under the rails and stretch their fastening. Water in the front passenger's feet is the result of a disconnected rear window washer hose under the front right fender.

Owners of diesel Nissan Pathfinder often complain about the slow warming up of the cabin in cold weather. Over time, the stove motor may make noise. Lubrication will help silence it. A new motor costs from 5 to 10 thousand rubles. The rear passenger air conditioning pipes located under the bottom are easily corroded. There are also episodes with the failure of the servomotors of the air distribution dampers. A new servo will cost 1000 rubles.

Electrical harnesses laid under the bottom, and connectors under the thresholds often rot after 4-6 years of operation. This is the main reason for displaying errors on all-wheel drive or ABS sensors.

Conclusion

The hero of our story, in terms of reliability, does not stand out from a large crowd of modern cars. It is alarming that there are problems with the cylinder head of the 2.5-liter diesel engine and the “freezing” of the turbocharger of the restyled version. Problems with the paintwork and low quality of finishing materials, unfortunately, today few people are surprised. Otherwise, everything is predictable, the resource of aggregates and assemblies is sane, as are the prices for spare parts. Perhaps it makes no sense to refuse to purchase a Nissan Pathfinder if you need a large all-wheel drive car. As the experience of individual owners shows, Nissan Pathfinder, with timely maintenance and proper operation, quietly reaches the mark of 300-400 thousand km without major repairs.

I have been driving a car for a year since May 2008. Of course, I wanted to buy either a Honda "Pilot" or a Toyota "Land Cruiser" -200. "- 200 with a diesel engine 4, 2 were not available. Before that, I drove a Honda Accord bought from a dealer in 2005. I drove 140,000 km on the Accord in 2.5 years. In principle, I am very pleased with the design - the SUV looks decent! Good off-road qualities - in those places where I had to go around due to an accident on the highway (plowed field), both Taureg and Cayenne sat down ... But after a run of 50,000 km, two front shock absorbers, a CD player and rear stabilizer bushings were replaced under warranty. But this is an SUV!. For those 2, 5 years that I drove 140,000 on a passenger Honda Accord, they didn’t change anything at all. This is on our roads! There were even a couple of hits in the pits of the front discs, which then required repair! A climate control in comparison with the Honda no.

Car pluses:
Excellent design and cross-country ability. Economical fuel consumption. Good safety.

Cons of the car:
There are no backlights on the buttons located on the steering column - you have to study them by touch like a blind man! Cruise control signaling devices are inconveniently located - sometimes it is not visible whether the cruise control is on. Navigation works only in Europe. It is not clear how dealers selling such a number of cars in the CIS missed this moment ? Very little space for rear passengers! And the headrests and backs of the chairs of the rear passengers only increase the close discomfort. The spare wheel is located at the bottom on the bottom, and I will sympathize in advance with those who try to change it in off-road conditions.

Buyer advice: But if the main thing for you is economy, inspiring design and cross-country ability, you can buy this car.

We will not comment on the VAZ 2103 ... But all "SUVs" like Pathfinder are cheap "show-offs" for stupid Americans. No one endowed these cars with any off-road qualities. The designers didn't even think about it. If Pathfinder or Pilot were real SUVs, then you and I would not be able to drive them on highways. Have any of you driven a Niva, UAZ or Gelentvagen? That's it! It is impossible to combine the incompatible: the comfort of a sedan and the cross-country ability of the GAZ-66... Even the Japanese have not yet learned to do miracles.

Def 9 years

stupid Americans built the Jeep Wrangler, stupid British built the LR Defender, stupid Japanese built the LandCruiser ...70, 80, 105..., Patrol, Samuray series, and Soviet practicality gave birth to Niva and UAZ. I drove all of the listed cars, and came to the conclusion that real SUVs can be driven on highways, well, only with the exception of the UAZ (Niva, with a huge stretch and thanks to my patriotism, remains in an indefinite state).

Don't be ridiculous, the frame on the bridges on the highway is like a cow on ice and will NEVER be compared with a sedan. Yes, he is driving, but because of the bridges at high speed he is thrown.

Def 9 years

Scribe, who was talking about sedans here? Zhenya, you are clearly not from our sandbox. And the fact that it throws is loudly said: yes, bridge cars have a large unsprung mass, and the wheels are held on the same stick, and because of the panhard thrust during suspension operation, the bridge shifts to the side relative to the body, but you can live with all this. It's good to live! And I also drove a bridge SUV in the Ukrainian rally-raid championship, and I note that you can not only drive it, but also drive very fast.

I sold my Pathfinder and breathed a sigh of relief. I understand that Q7, Cayenne or Tuareg are not justifiably expensive, but already in the "standard" "German" has enough useful and convenient functions that WORK !!! to its owner. Half of the pseudo-functions of cheap "Japanese" simply do not work or work in such a way that you don't want to use them over time. I do not want to offend anyone, but I have already made sure that a Japanese car is 90% marketing and 10% the actual car. I will not repeat myself - read the reviews about the Pathfinder of others, because. All this is true and no nit-picking.

+1

Def 9 years

I partly agree in the sense of pseudo-functional, but not in Japanese, but specifically in Pathfinder. Everything else is complete nonsense: the Tuareg in the database does not even have window lifters (German marketing: mudguards are also an additional option, etc.), in terms of reliability, these three pearls "Q7, Cayenne or Tuareg" also regularly and unpleasantly please their owners. Probably, general globalization has instilled in the fact that among the Germans and Japanese, the Chinese are increasingly squeezed in. I myself drive a Landcruiser 100 (4.2TD), I experience a lack of dynamics and controllability, but I know for sure that it will start up in the morning and will not break off on the floor of the road.

think Q7 or Tuareg is perfect, I doubt it

Vladimir 8 years

well, Q7 is generally a bomb for breakdowns! Read the reviews and from personal experience I can say that having changed Passfinder and switched to Audi ... I regretted it terribly. I had a poof from the salon and it was 2 years old at the time of sale. 4 liters, full stuffing, climbed and went fishing and hunting ... which I didn’t pass more on Audi ... but it was clear when buying that Torsen’s drives and such a size and weight would not allow climbing where I climbed on a pouffe. I just had to put rubber normal and would not sit down in snow or mud. Of course, this is not a full-fledged SUV and not a sedan, this is an SUV class. But Audi is a pipets! a single sin for 2 years and 85000 km !! and this cow sang. Pneumo hung ... again for service ... and so in one winter or two not pleasant things, although Poof has not one for 2 years. There is a difference. Now I want to sell this fascist hassle and buy a new puff 3.0 turbodiesel (sorry they don’t produce 4 petrol ones) I hope it will be as successful as my old friend Passfinder

I read these judgments and thought about what is better to take: Nissan PF or Land Cruiser Prado 150 (I am considering both diesel options). And yet - how do diesel engines behave in Nissan PF. Experienced practitioners please advise. Thank you.

the passfinder's engine runs quietly and magnificently, the power is quite enough, though in winter it takes a long time to heat up without a vibasta if it is minus 25 and so at -30 it starts up with half a turn

Al 9 years

I don’t quite agree about quiet, but it’s not noisier than LR and by the way you don’t need a webast, you put a simple signalization with auto start, and in the evening you leave electronic suction (talking about diesel), 15 minutes of work and in the cabin it’s definitely above zero, even if it’s -20 outside

Al 9 years

and about the minus of turning on the cruise indication, complete nonsense, because the green light of the cruise lights up under the speedometer. and even compare Patfay with the 200th corn mill, well, finally, in any gate, only the new Patrol can be compared with the 200th, Patfay is Prado in size

Became a lucky owner of Pathfinder in January 2013 after a sad event with the Grand Vitara 2.4l 167 hp. INC, so I will compare with it. At the time of writing the review, the mileage was a little less than 2000 km (I took a new one from the official dealer at a discount of 240 thousand + carpets + crankcase protection, although it was possible to take another 40 thousand cheaper from the unofficial), so first impressions: Well, ELEPHANT !!! It's just huge. The trunk is super-large, everything will fit: a boat and a motor and all the necessary things for a few days of fishing and there will be no lying around in the cabin that did not fit into the trunk, as constantly happened in Vitara. Ergonomics: the first complaint: the power window buttons are located strangely: if the hand rests on the armrest, then it is impossible to control them, you have to lift them (((for a smoker who uses the window often, it is not convenient. The door lock button is moved down to the central panel, also not ICE, on Vitara is more comfortable.Adjusting the mirrors on the left under the steering wheel through the switch is minus. The next jamb is a very short armrest on the right and not adjustable.Again, Vitara loses - there are 2 positions. The ignition lock (I have a model with a simple key) looks like a cheap Chinese foreign garbage from another car, especially against the background of the gloss around the gearshift knob ... On-board computer: informative, but I don’t have enough instantaneous fuel consumption, like on a Vitara, there I could adjust the fuel consumption with a pedal, here - no. By the way, there it was an LCD, although b/w I have no experience of driving an automatic, so I don’t understand how to put pressure on a sneaker and the consumption in the city is not happy - 13.5 - 14.5. Track - 7 on a cruise, Vitara ate more on the highway and less in the city, but I suppose manage and develop over time economical style for the city. By the way - the cruise is super, there was no Vitara. It starts without problems at 25, I was afraid that the automatic and diesel would give problems, nothing like that! The engine heats up VERY slowly. Before work - 6.6 km, I arrive the arrow has slightly moved from the minimum, while it is warm in the cabin, the air begins to blow warm immediately after starting the engine, from the parking lot to the barrier - 50 meters, and it is already comfortable in the cabin. There is not enough steering wheel heating, but compared to the Vitara, the comfort when starting to drive in cold weather is simply not comparable (100 pluses). It picks up speed with dignity, but there is a dip for about a second after pressing the pedal. The suspension seemed stiffer to me compared to the previous car, but this is not critical in the driver's seat, and the passengers in the Vitara were shaking not like a child. The 3rd row of seats is convenient, but it’s hard to ride it (((and the trough in the trunk folds so that it’s not convenient to close the trunk. About the fifth door is a separate song: to close it is necessary to make an effort, and a significant one at that. Maybe our masturbators (Russian assembly) adjusted badly, or maybe such a design feature, I'll go to the dealer - let him say. A separate plus for the trunk with its pockets and compartments for tools: everything you need lay down very good. it’s convenient and the compressor and the cable are large and the sign and skewers (I always carry with me))) you never know if I’ll run into a lamb on the way ... Stability on the track is a plus, but I don’t want to drive. 120 - comfortable, then ... until you get used to it, and the roads are slippery - I'm afraid after the accident. There is a noticeable drift in sharp turns, the ESP works softer than on the Vitara, it doesn’t get into business right away, which is also good, at least for me. ABS works decently and more than predictably. I liked the downhill assistance system, low gear operation, cross-country ability (although I haven’t done a real test yet, but I rode a little on a hill with an angle of 50 - 55 degrees. I never got stuck in the snow - a plus, Vitara didn’t climb there (now Blizzak is standing, Hakkapelita 4 was standing on spikes.) And now the problem is back to work... At 1700, the Check caught fire!!! ESP, called the dealer, advised once again to throw off the terminal. I threw it off - the ESP is on and I'm really very afraid ... (on the Vitara, the ABS unit (52 thousand at the dealer's office) flew for 90 thousand km, the entire panel was on fire: ABS, ESP, slippery road and something else. I did not give due attention to this, the result is a kuvet, the Vitara sadly lies on its side with a crumpled side and a roof) agreed to visit the dealer, went - the ESP went out, refused to call back. And in the evening the check caught fire again, today at 15.00 I will go to get acquainted with the Nissan Avtotrakt Vladimir service, then I will unsubscribe. But I don’t like the situation itself anymore: was it worth buying a car for 1.5 million to throw off the battery terminals ??? I haven’t had keys in the car for 10 years already, do I really have to carry it now (((There is not enough rear-view camera, I’ll have to change my head and put something else, but it’s my TOAD’s fault, I could have taken it more expensive, but with a camera, although they say there is no navigation, but I want it to be normal and with traffic jams ... I unsubscribe: I went to the dealer, they installed a breakdown of the synchronizers in the box, they promised to call and replace it under warranty, the impression of the service is positive, everyone is affectionate, kind, they tried to solve the problem with the flash drive. .. one thing is bad - a month has passed, and no one has called for repairs. The check really went out by itself ... Consumption is not yet happy: in the city for 13 liters. By the way, the door has developed and closes normally ... The patency is better than that of Vitara - definitely, so I was not disappointed in the choice ... If it weren’t for the servicemen, the spare part was under warranty for 3 months ... A nightmare, I was driving from Karelia, I thought I wouldn’t make it ... Warranty repair part 43, total with work and oil for 50 thousand rubles. Of course, I did not pay anything, except for the tow truck. But the curvature of the masters is amazing ... They forgot to close the side window (((the whole interior was covered in dust (((

Before that I went: SangYongMusso, PajeroSport, passenger cars. I also now operate Pajero 4 gasoline.

There are things that cannot be bought. But everything else is possible. Therefore, if you want to have a little more freedom in the cabin space, the number and length of cargo, are you too lazy to put up a tent and you want to go where you want, and not where everyone can go, then buy SUVs - these universal cars are ideal to move around the territory of Russia. I’ll make a reservation right away that SUVs and 2WDs are not from this cohort.

Pathfinder took new from the cabin. Liked it right away. Male fit silhouette. Both rough and stylish. Compared with Discovery, Pajero, Patrol. Patrol did not like outwardly - archaic (but in vain). Discovery - stupid diesel, narrow interior, clumsy tidy. Pajero is a bit old (a relic of biodesign) and the last tuning did not embellish it much, the wait is long, more expensive, the back door is an amateur and the layout mechanism of its 3 rows is stupid. By the way, I also have experience in operating it (but that's another story). But this is all poetry, an SUV is not chosen for body color.

What did you want:

1) Diesel + automatic (less taxes, less consumption - more traction + easier in traffic jams).

2) Top-package (I don’t consider others).

3) Real four-wheel drive (I will go everywhere).

4) Large trunk (I will carry a lot).

5) 3 row (I will carry the crowd).

6) Navigation (I want to drive where I don't know the roads).

7) So that everything works and does not ask for a lot of money.

The main reason for the purchase was the banal price - the Nissan was cheaper than the Pajero, it took less time to wait (1 month versus 3 months) + the diesel engine was more powerful (at that time), the 3rd row mechanism was more convenient, the door was up and it just seems prettier to me. The rest of the classmates are more expensive (Tuareg, Discovery, X90) or not, the Koreans did not consider.

What did I end up with.

Diesel - like it, sharp, pulling. The machine works fine, but starts off too sharply (and I love it). Consumption from 9.5 to 16 liters (track - traffic lights with races) (Pajero 22 liters on average, though gasoline). But the brakes are weak (the Pajero is clearly better) and there seems to be no soundproofing at all (but I like it too - the feeling of driving a frenzied tank intensifies), but on a long journey it gets boring and you involuntarily turn on the music by at least 50%. The music is bogus (on the Pajero (in the top) it is clearly better), the simplest nonsense from Nakamishi sounds more expensive. In general, there is a general impression of excessive plasticity and even a slightly wretched finish. But in general it is in the style of the machine. No poor colorful inserts like wood and glamour. A car for a man - there is nothing to look for bulges and concavities. In general, when an SUV was made from a pickup truck, this did not spoil it, although the stern is of course rustic. The front seats are flat and slippery leather, but in principle they roll, there are enough adjustments. Rear sofa smallish and too short, but you can live. The third row is understandable for teenagers, but I also drove it - you can withstand 2 hours.

Very pleased with the interior transformation system. You can actually carry sticks 3 meters long. Moreover, it is convenient that the sofa of the 3rd row is separate (unlike the wretched Pajero bench). All rear saddles fold into a single plane and here is a healthy car in front of you. My height is 180 cm and I sleep comfortably in the car while hiking under my own blanket and usually not alone. Of course, I miss that capacious luggage box, which is observed in the top trim levels of the previous Pajero Sport, where you can dump a bunch of useful trash, including an ax, a shovel and a winch, and at the same time have an empty trunk, but the space for it is understandable due to the 3rd row of seats not visible. I will not spread what is in the car from the options, there is everything that is supposed to be for all worthy cars. I will only mention selectively. The rear view camera is very handy. Built-in bluetooth too (it's funny, it's not in the pager !!!). But with navigation, a bummer - there are no maps and never will be. It's a shame. It's annoying. (There is navigation in the pager! Regular. But the map is ancient - 2007, and the system is poor. Garmin works better for 6000 wooden ones. So it's not so insulting. But there is a video in the pager, but horseradish in Nissan).

Four-wheel drive and high ground clearance. This is probably one of the main reasons why it is really worth taking a jeep. So, to be honest, I expected more from Pafik. In general, the general tendency of a shift towards parquet is guessed in it. There is four-wheel drive, but there are no locks, except for electronic ones, and they, honestly, do not help much. But there is a reduced one (the main feature of an SUV) and ESP can be turned off. In general, a modern approach to cross-country ability. Almost all jeeps now follow this pattern. Honestly, Pajero and Patrol seem to me the best rogues due to more archaic designs. Off-road abilities are greatly reduced by poor road tires (standard), they instantly clog with dirt and become like bald ones, you really can’t get out of the rut. In general, guys, for specific dirt, completely different cars are needed - three-door angular and completely without overhangs, ancient Toyotas and Padzheriki. I assure you that an ordinary Niva with a collective farmer on board will easily do all the above-mentioned patrols, pajeros and pafiks in the mud. It is important to measure your abilities and capabilities.

And now about the pleasant: almost everywhere where he had the audacity to get in, he got out himself. Despite all the “buts”, the potential is great. In addition, the car steers nicely on asphalt and the steering wheel, unlike the Pajero, is not empty. The suspension, perhaps, is harsh, but at the same time the car is very collected (the Padzherik is actually a more rolled car, shakes in turns, bites with its nose). A special joy from driving in winter: well, where are all these behi - lovers to show me their stern in the summer. Sometimes I can't resist childishness and sod from a traffic light with full throttle - your lot is drifting, gentlemen. In winter, a fairy tale with both driving and parking. Electronic traction control systems really help - at the same time, they are practically not annoying (and I thought that I was driving so cool), except that sometimes they interfere with sharp turns and turns - they do not allow you to pass in a skid under gas, straighten the trajectory. Everything would be fine, but the brakes are not the same and the weight of the car is not small. I really like a yummy - to drive somewhere in an empty parking lot or a vacant lot on fallen snow or ice with the ESP turned off sideways in a skid, constantly catching the car.

For maintenance and service. I tried all the Mitsuha dealer and half of the Nissan in St. Petersburg. There are no good ones. In order not to be fooled, I recommend knowing the materiel and Russian legislation. To earn an acceptable attitude towards the dealer, you need to prove to him your ability to poison his life in case of poor service. Otherwise, you risk turning into a cash cow. I will say this - I trust much more Uncle Vasya in his dirty oily box with callused palms than a young glamorous pimple in a white shirt from the showroom. Almost after every call to the service center, this boy blushes when I explain to him what will happen to his company and manufacturing company if I am a father of many children and my whole family suffers as a result of the fact that some comrade there did not spin this one and this bolt, I forgot this, didn’t fix it and didn’t do it. There are frankly comical cases - once I lost an hour due to the fact that another collar was looking for a part of my fuel rail on a gasoline engine. Particularly frustrating is the built-in system for protecting management from clients. Fuck you will meet someone who will solve your problems really quickly. It's a pity, because management, as a rule, really understands better what a bad image threatens.

In general, the service is inexpensive. MOT is true often - after 10,000. In fact, MOT is really done after 20,000, in the interval there is only an oil change. Such MOT costs about 5,000 rubles, a full one from 10,000 to 20,000, depending on the work. Dealer prices really differ greatly (up to 50%). Often, dealers do not care what you had filled in the engine before. Leak anything. Who is branded Nissan, who is mobile, who is 5w50, who is 0w40. Parts are not cheap. There is no large warehouse in Russia. I waited for the fuel rail for almost a month (replacement under warranty). During the operation under warranty, I changed: the fuel rail (the sensor went out of standing), the front block headlight (the ignition unit burned out), the engine front cover in the generator area (leak), the automatic transmission control unit (the cause of the breakdown is unknown to me). Also, the hatch drive mechanism was sorted out several times. I changed it myself: a xenon light bulb (as it turned out, it was possible under warranty). The lamp costs 14,000 rubles at the dealer, and 2,000 rubles at the store. Mudguard (torn off). Boot CV joint rear (found a break quite by accident) before a long trip. Original - 3000 r in 2 weeks. Leave the day after tomorrow. Picked up from Audi (plastic) - 650 rubles. Luckily, the joint was not damaged. In general, the car cannot be called reliable in the full sense of the word. Change pads every 20,000.

Casco 90000-11000 rub. During the operation 2 times painted bumper insurance (without references).

Bottom line: I like the car, there are flaws and sores, but not critical. There is a breed, there is a character. There is a little more freedom. In general, there is something that cannot be bought. Why are there no good cars in Russia? Because it's not about the quality of spare parts, assembly, management, mentality. No.

Need a dream. And this, unfortunately, unlike machine tools and technologies, cannot be bought.

The next basin (hopefully) is a Cruiser 200 diesel.
