Reviews

The main thing — clearance! I stopped looking at every pebble on the road. Large diameter wheels add comfort when driving on bad roads. I don’t have to look out from behind the wheel onto the road (even with my rather big height). I was pleased when leaving for nature - even on the front-wheel drive you can drive where the road was previously closed.

A little more detail about the expense, as it excites many. We can say that he is happy. It all depends on the driving style of a particular driver, the time of year and where you have to drive. The first three winter thousand (although in our area last winter was warm) consumption was 9.4-9 liters per hundred city-highway approximately 50:50. It seemed a lot, but spring came, the run-in ended and the flow dropped to 8l.

It is worth forgetting about dynamic driving, and there are several reasons for this. Somewhat dissatisfied with the algorithm of the automatic transmission. During long climbs (or overtaking), you almost always have to use manual mode, since the machine shifts downshift early and then, apart from the roar of the engine, there is little sense.

In general, I like the car. Despite the simple interior and average appearance, the Hyundai Greta is one of those that are larger inside than outside (praise to the designers), so far it does not annoy even small jambs. And … This car is more for the city, for traffic jams, for a leisurely ride. Such a workhorse for every day.

Vladimir, a review about the Hyundai Greta 1.6 on a front-wheel drive machine.

I drove at night in normal conditions without rain, without meeting and spraying headlights - the light on Crete is very weak. This is the first problem. The second - the car (my opinion) is light, it holds the road in principle, but due to poor lighting it flew into a frozen roadside rut, it’s good that there was a low speed, it pulls and jumps. The feeling of an unbalanced car is present, maybe it's a matter of habit, I don't know.

At low speeds in the snow, this lightness is even a buzz, it rows normally and skids a little, if you add it, but the stabilization, in principle, keeps it without the intervention of the steering wheel. It works quite often. The engine is not particularly run-in, but gave heat when overtaking. Frankly, the engine is weak. Maybe for now.

The car heats up quickly and efficiently. I put 23 on the book, and forgot (climate). True, with frosts of minus 20-30, it tightens the windows when driving for a long distance, you turn it on to the normal mode, it passes. How the air conditioning and climate will work in the summer, we'll see. With the ergonomics of the cabin as a whole is normal. The doors do not close the first time, maybe from frost.

Owner's review of Hyundai Creta 2.0 with automatic and all-wheel drive

Where can I buy?

In the first week, there was a knock in the trunk, I did not find it until I got everything out of the trunk, including the shelves and the spare tire. I found a rattling in the trunk lock ... I turned to the dealer, pulled it up - corrected it.

The second week, the next day after visiting the dealer, the tire pressure sensor caught fire, checked, the pressure is normal. Proezdil a couple of days — again clattered trunk lock and gradually stopped closing from the first, second, fifth time. I visited the dealer, changed the lock, did something with the tire pressure sensors, the lamp stopped burning

On a run of 1,300 km, the consumption gradually decreased from the run-in 18-20 to 10.2 on the highway in the 100/120 mode and to 12-14 in the city. And yes, guys, this is a 95 G drive)) Mileage of 4,000 km, no more problems.

Of the disadvantages of the Hyundai Creta, I note that both the engine and the interior cool down quickly, not tightness - it bleeds from the windows in the closed state, when the seats are reclined, the blowing in the trunk is very noticeable, a lot of crickets, in the cold the trunk lock clicks, traffic safety on the highway is low - from ruts straight throws,
there is no lumbar support - the back gets tired after 400 km of the track, the audio is very mediocre, it is treated at least by replacing the head.

Nikita, a review about the Hyundai Creta 2.0 with a front-wheel drive automatic.

123 forces is enough for driving around the city, it’s stupid to expect some unrealistic acceleration indicators from an urban crossover. In conditions of driving with smooth accelerations on the streets, this engine is enough for the eyes. The 6-speed manual turned out to be cool and comfortable - a short stroke, clear shifts and electronic assistants do their job.

It turns out that you seem to be on a manual transmission, but the car still does not give you full control over yourself, but to call it a minus is complete nonsense. You just sit down and go, getting used to everything in a matter of minutes. The only thing you need to get used to is the electronic gas pedal, the delay of which is felt for about a second.

Well, appearance, it is determined for each in its own way. I, for one, like her very much. A strong and swift silhouette in a small body. Although, by the way, there is a lot of space inside the car, both in front and behind - I still don’t understand how they were able to achieve such a result.

Feedback from the owner of the Hyundai Creta 1.6 on the mechanics

Video review of the Hyundai Creta

Suspension moderately hard. In my memory, of the crossovers with a similar wheelbase, the softest is the Qashqai, the hardest is the Suzuki Grand Vitara. Crete is somewhere in the middle. The suspension is not very elastic (like the Tiguan), but not flabby (like previous Hyundais). Small bumps go well, speed bumps are no longer very good if you drive at a speed of more than 30 km / h. Large holes depending on the speed. On a small - normal, medium.

Steering wheel Crete obeys well, does not heel - handling at an average level of cars of the C-class such as Focus, which is very good. The steering wheel itself is light, it gets heavier at speed, but non-linearly, i.e. already at low speed becomes quite heavy. It is light only in the parking lot and when driving at speeds up to 10 km / h. Noise isolation is average, at low speeds it is very quiet, then mediocre.

The engine follows the gas pedal well somewhere up to 60-80 km / h. Then it starts to fade. Over 100-120 km / h is already beginning to howl. The box, again, up to these speeds works just fine. All this points to the urban nature of the car - it is good to drive on city roads of average scall and not too fast. For Moscow and the region - ideal.

Interior design, dashboard is simple but nice. Like all Hyundais, Creta has a very good appetite. The track is 9 liters, the city with traffic jams and warm-ups is 13 liters. Well, this is a fee for an atmospheric engine, peppy starts from a traffic light and a classic automatic machine - you can’t get anywhere. The brakes are again average - not sharp, but informative, though somewhere in the middle of the brake pedal stroke.

The build quality of the car is normal, but there is a disease with closing the fifth door - you have to clap hard. I really don’t recommend refueling with 92 and saving on engine oil (take Total Quartz) - because of this, two-liter engines may experience scuffing in the cylinders.

Owner review Hyundai Greta 1.6 automatic transmission with front-wheel drive

If you are surprised by my choice, I will explain: as of December 2016, this particular modification was one of the most popular. The starting price of a 1.6-liter monodrive with hydromechanics did not exceed a million rubles, which, from the point of view of the buyer's psychology, turned out to be a success. But those wishing to purchase an all-wheel drive crossover until last week had to overpay for a 150-horsepower two-liter engine. The price of such versions confidently rushed to a million and a quarter. And here not everyone retained interest in Crete.

At the dealership, I was given a brand new crossover in Marina Blue color (surcharge for any color other than white - 5,000 rubles) in the Comfort package. The Advanced package (heating for the rear row, steering wheel and windshield, rear view camera, leather steering wheel trim and Supervision dashboard) for fifty thousand rubles went to the test Crete as an option. Then - before the New Year holidays - the cost of such a machine was 1,054,900 rubles. Today, for a similar one, you will have to pay almost 1.1 million. However, given the level of Creta equipment and the price lists of the main ones, pricing does not cause protest.

But the interior at first acquaintance seems too simple. There is not an ounce of soft plastic here, there is no automatic driver's window closer and there is no banal illumination of the passenger control keys. And yes - the 5-inch touchscreen of the head unit is catastrophically small by modern standards. As a result, only the thought that 22,000 people could not have been so badly mistaken somehow suppresses the skepticism that is emerging in me.

The first kilometers do not cause much enthusiasm either: the steering wheel seems to be pinched (and this is true), the noise from the engine after four thousand revolutions is more distinct than we would like. And although the suspensions work out any bumps perfectly, and the 123-horsepower 1.6-liter aspirated turns out to be not so “dead”, I still wonder: is this really the best crossover for about a million rubles? I am perplexed and have no idea how much I will stick to this car during our two-month test.

To fall in love with Creta, you need nothing at all: stop waiting for driver's revelations from her and start perceiving it exclusively as a household appliance. You do not plan that the refrigerator will cheer you up by the process of cooling food. And don't sit "sticky" on the spinning drum of the washing machine. All you need is fresh food and clean clothes. It's the same thing with Creta. Although from the height of two months of living together, I can assure you: she rides well.

The steering wheel heats up all around. Seat heating - fire. In all senses. There is enough space in the back for a comfortable fit of two tall passengers. And with the rear seat folded down, you can easily transport three adult bikes here - with the front wheels removed, of course. Ultimately, in 60 days, I never found myself in a situation in which I could be disappointed in the possibilities of Creta. She started in any frost, warmed and delivered from one point to another with more than adequate comfort. With any baggage. Is that in the days of snowfall a little lacking.

Unlike, Creta perfectly digests 92nd gasoline: no hint of detonation, no drawdown in dynamics, and no increase in fuel consumption. In the city, a 1.6-liter engine burns nine and a few liters per hundred in four “boilers”, while driving on the highway it is content with a family. And if you try - six and a half.

Of course, during the test, the interior plastic did not become soft, the diagonal of the touchscreen of the multimedia system did not increase by a millimeter. However, in the absence of serious disadvantages, you simply stop paying attention to these little things. In addition, it is warm to think that from the point of view of Kreta, it should also not be problematic. Here is the simplest atmospheric engine, a classic hydromechanical machine ... And if we talk about the 1.6-liter version - a rear beam as simple as two rubles.

Parting with Hyundai was sad. So in exchange I asked the dealership for a 2.0-liter all-wheel drive Creta - for another three months. For contrast. How dynamic is it? How much more greedy? Is it more interesting to drive due to the multi-link rear suspension?

Looking ahead, I will say that the answers to all these questions were not as unambiguous as it might seem at first glance. And I will definitely tell you everything in detail in the very near future. Both on the site and on the pages of the magazine.

The Hyundai Creta mini crossover appeared on the domestic market in 2016. The car was named after the Greek island of Crete and was originally conceived as a universal model. Creta received several modifications, among which there are several all-wheel drive options with a motor to choose from. The Crete engine is suitable for any driver and is designed for a different type of riding.

Despite the large number of competitors, among which are: Renault Kaptur, Kia Soul, Skoda Yeti, the new car quickly gained popularity among drivers. The Korean company has tried to combine a confident design and solid functionality, all at an affordable price.

It should be noted that they coped with the task quite well. The car received not only the original appearance, but also a rather pleasant interior. But is everything as good under the hood as it is outside and inside? What is used in Creta timing or chain? Let's take a closer look at these questions and try to answer them.

Hyundai Creta engine range

The engine is the heart of any car and the Korean brand knows this like no other. Hyundai cars have always been distinguished by reliable engines with an increased resource and ease of operation. They equipped the lineup with the most optimal power units for such a body:

  • Gamma G4FG with a volume of 1.6 liters
  • Two-liter Nu G4NA.

The old versions of these nodes have proven themselves well: the owners often noted the absence of serious problems during operation. Engineers have finalized the design of engines for Hyundai Creta, thereby improving the technical characteristics. These changes helped make slightly outdated motors quite competitive. In the front-wheel drive version, the rear has a new generation of suspension (beam with vertical shock absorbers and modified attachment points) in front, nothing special: the usual McPherson.

The all-wheel drive modification is similar in design, but the rear suspension is independent with an electro-hydraulic clutch, similar technical solutions were used in Tucson and Santa Fe. In addition, the variations of the car are distinguished by power steering: hydraulic on the basic ones, and electric on the more expensive ones.

Engine with a volume of 1.6

Which engine should the buyer choose? Let's start with volume 1.6. GAMMA G4FG is distinguished by decent power for such a volume, low noise level and has good environmental friendliness.

The updated engine has a power of 123 horsepower, which is complemented by a thrust of 155 Nm. The unit is distinguished by the following parameters:

  • aluminum cylinder block;
  • two camshafts;
  • fuel rail injector;
  • separate ignition coils that go for each of the cylinders;
  • the use of a chain in a gas distribution mechanism;
  • CVVT system for intake and exhaust.

These technical solutions made it possible to create a balanced motor that is unpretentious and economical. In addition, it can be filled with 92 gasoline without loss of traction, which is of great importance. Hyundai engineers have also optimized the software component, leaving the electronic control system. The GAMMA G4FG engine can be combined with a 6-speed manual or automatic, depending on the selected configuration.

2 liter engine

This variation of the engine is more dynamic and, like the first one, is a modified version of the old unit and is called G4KD. The updated motor has the same design with an aluminum cylinder block, a timing chain and two shafts. In addition, there are hydraulic valve compensators, as a result of which the need for constant adjustment is eliminated.

Here, as in the engine with a volume of 1.6 liters, there is a “dual” CVVT system, which is provided for both the intake and exhaust shafts. For the domestic market, the engine will be supplied with distributed injection. The power of the two-liter "engine" is 150 hp. Similar to the previous motor, this modified MPI can be filled with 92 gasoline.

One of the main innovations of the engine is the appearance of hydraulic lifters and roller levers in the valve drive. Thanks to this, it is not necessary to regularly check the clearances in the valves and the levers themselves, as a result of which the reliability increases and the overall performance of the power unit improves: wear and fuel consumption are reduced, and the power, on the contrary, is growing.

Thanks to the upgrade, the maximum torque in the engine is available at lower revs. Like the first option, the G4KD is combined with a 6-speed manual and automatic. The motor shows a very good dynamics at above average speeds and, in general, is quite decent for such a car.

Conclusion

Undoubtedly, the network in Hyundai Creta engines is a fly in the ointment. Basically, this is due to the aluminum block. The units are high-tech, but have poor maintainability indicators.

Cast-iron sleeves poured into the block are practically impossible to get, and there is no possibility of boring. Some owners say that the resource of the car is limited to two hundred thousand kilometers, while others say that they have "hit" more than 300.

In any case, the entire block can be changed, although it will cost a lot. The indisputable advantage of Hyundai Creta is the ability to buy an economical car with an engine capacity of 1.6 liters, good power and all-wheel drive, which competitors clearly cannot boast of.

Crete engines are not perfect, but if we compare them with competitors, we can conclude that they have a simple design, sufficient power and unpretentiousness in operation, which is very important for a responsible driver. Over time, owners will be able to find out what kind of resource the engines actually have and draw the appropriate conclusions.

Hyundai Creta engine on video:

Today we will look at Hyundai Crete engines, which we will compare with each other and compare with competitors' engines.

The Korean concern "Hyundai" has established itself in the world market as a manufacturer of reliable power units. They are characterized by high service life, reliability and ease of use. Every new car that rolls off the production line gets an authentic motor, manufactured and assembled in-house. Korean engineers did not violate the established traditions and installed two gasoline engines on the Hyundai Greta car:
1. Power unit for 1.6 liters.
2. Motor power two liters.
Both engines are powered by AI-95. Moreover, a 1.6 liter engine can use AI-92 as fuel. It is clear that each has its own zest, but there are certain disadvantages.

As for the features and technical characteristics of the Hyundai Greta power units
The type of power plant designs is in-line. In both cases, the cylinders are located transversely. There are 4 of them, like valves. There is a difference between the engines in volume: 1.6 versus 2.0 liters.
The cylinder diameter of the lower power unit is 77 mm. In the two-liter version, this figure is at the level of 81 mm. In terms of compression, there are also differences of 10.3 versus 10.5 of a more powerful one.
The power figures are also different. The “little brother” is capable of delivering 151 Nm with a maximum power of 123 l / force. The two-liter version has 192 Nm. The power of the installation is at the level of 149.6 horses. Both designs are equipped with a distributive injection system.
Let's define the features of each unit and begin the review of the basic version.

Powertrain 1.6 MPI

The basic version of the engine is closely related to the Gamma family. She is known not only in Russia, but also throughout the post-Soviet space. The simplified version of the power plant in question has already been used on a number of Honda and Kia car models. Let's get acquainted with the distinctive features of the engine with a capacity of 123 l / force.
The cylinder block is made of lightweight aluminum alloy. Despite its low weight, it (the block) is considered very reliable.
The timing system uses a belt.
The injection system is equipped with a special fuel rail.
Engineers have defined an individual ignition coil for each cylinder.
The unit has 16 valves. Adjustment is carried out mechanically.
Simplicity and reliability - this is the feature of the 1.6-liter power plant.
According to experts and user reviews, the Creta 1.6 engine is very economical. As noted earlier, base 95 gasoline or 92 can be used as fuel.

If you stand still and do not improve the installation, then competitors will bypass you. The engineers of the Korean concern also understand this. So in the latest version of the crossover, certain changes have been made:
improved CWT phase adjustment system;
as for the technical characteristics of the motor. Passport engine power is 123 l / force with a unit volume of 1.6 liters;
the developers preferred an aluminum cylinder block and cylinder head;
a coil is used to supply ignition.
It is necessary to say about fuel consumption. Averaged at the level of 7 liters per hundred.

Power unit 2.0 MPI

This engine belongs to the Hyundai powertrain family and is considered a more advanced version. In his favor is the fact that he is operated on a crossover version with all-wheel drive. Although the total operating period is only 3 years. The features of the two-liter unit include the following. The use of a cylinder block, in the production of which light alloy metals are involved.

The chain drive serves 2 shafts at the same time.
The throughput and intake shaft aggregates with the CWT phase control system.
The power unit is equipped with a distribution injection system.
In version 2.0, the valve lifters are adjusted automatically.
The engine as fuel can "eat" 92 gasoline. This allows you to reduce (save) basic fuel consumption.

Note!

With the existing capacities of 164-167 mares, the Russians are offered only an installation with a capacity of 149.6 l / forces. The use of only one version is associated with legislation regarding the transport tax. But this fact in no way affected the dynamics of the car.
An intake tract geometry adjustment system is connected to the Crete 2.0 power plant.
Speaking about the positive aspects of power plants, you should not artificially raise them to the automobile Olympus. It is necessary to reveal the shortcomings, which we will try to do.

Disadvantages of power units 1.6 and 2.0 Hyundai Greta

Although the engines are assembled in China, there is no particular reason to worry about this. But, there are certain shortcomings somehow: the complexity of the recovery process (repair) and the low operating threshold. According to the official version, engines can operate within 180-200 thousand kilometers without major repairs. There is unofficial evidence that the service life can be increased to 300 thousand with proper and regular maintenance. But, we will adhere to the official position of the Korean concern. According to experts, the price of cylinder blocks is too high. The working life of the parts is 250 thousand kilometers. And the cost reaches 80 thousand rubles. Consider the economy here.

Problems with sleeves made of cast iron. They are filled with liquid aluminum, and combined with the block design. What does this mean in practice? It is unrealistic to repair and / or change individual elements. Difficulties associated with an aluminum cylinder block. Yes, it is light and reliable - no doubt. But, at the same time, it cannot be squandered. The block wears out quickly. At the same time, its productivity is lost, and fuel consumption indicators increase. And most importantly: the cylinder block, made of aluminum, cannot be repaired.

A few words about competitors
A large company has gathered in this segment, which includes representatives of Renault Kaptur, Kia Soul, Skoda Yeti. Korean engines are considered leaders. This is due to the power and moderate consumption of gasoline. As well as the ability to vibrate with fuel using the AI-95 and AI-92. This fact can only amuse our compatriots.
But the developers made one significant mistake: they neglected the main thing - maintainability, chasing lightness and manufacturability.

Which of the above can be concluded

The 1.6-liter engine can be proud of its aluminum cylinder block, timing belt and injection system using an injector. In addition, the motor has a minimum fuel consumption: 7 liters per hundred.
The 2.0 engine is capable of aggregating with an all-wheel drive system. This puts it head and shoulders above its competitors. Fuel consumption is only 8 liters per 100 kilometers.
The Creta motor cannot be called an ideal creation of technical thought. Although it outperforms its closest competitors. The advantages of Korean motors are reliability, power and economy.

Hyundai Creta 1.6 liter engine belongs to the Gamma gasoline engine series. All engines of that series have a similar design. This is an in-line 4-cylinder, 16-valve unit with a timing chain drive and an aluminum G4FC cylinder block. True, at the moment on Hyundai models you can find a huge number of modifications of this series.

These are engines with one or two phase shifters, a conventional injector or direct fuel injection. There are even turbocharged versions. The Hyundai Creta is equipped with a Gamma 1.6 D-CVVT with a dual variable valve timing system and MPI multipoint injection. For the Russian Hyundai Creta, the engine is assembled at the Beijing Hyundai Motor Co. plant. in China. The power unit is quite reliable and performed well on other models of the Korean manufacturer.

Hyundai Creta 1.6 liter engine

Crete's engine is almost entirely aluminum. This is both the cylinder block and the block head. Moreover, there are no special crankshaft covers in the design. For its fastening to the block of cylinders cast aluminum pastel is used. The lightness of this design also has a negative point, these are serious problems when the engine overheats. In some cases, overheating of the motor causes such deformation of parts of the engine that it can be safely thrown into the trash.

Cylinder head Creta 1.6 liter

The Creta aluminum cylinder head has a 16 valve design with two overhead camshafts. This is a typical DOHC in which there are no hydraulic lifters. That is, a fairly modern motor will have to adjust the valve clearance manually. In addition, there are special oil channels in the block head through which the phase shifters are controlled. The higher the pressure, the more the CVVT actuator deflects the camshaft, changing the valve timing. Special sensors, solenoid valves and control electronics are responsible for all this.

Changing the valve timing allows you to optimize the operation of the engine in any mode, thereby achieving the best combination of power, fuel consumption and harmful exhaust emissions.

Timing device Hyundai Creta 1.6 liters

As we already wrote, the timing chain drive. At the same time, the design is quite simple and reliable. The crankshaft sprocket rotates the two camshaft sprockets through a fairly reliable chain, dampers and tensioner. The replacement of the chain by the manufacturer is not regulated, however, over time, the chain on the Creta will stretch, and the loud grunting will increase. Replacing a chain drive will cost you significantly more than a belt-driven motor, but it is also not often required.

Characteristics of the engine Hyundai Creta 1.6 liters

  • Working volume - 1591 cm3
  • Number of cylinders - 4
  • Number of valves - 16
  • Cylinder diameter - 77 mm
  • Stroke - 85.4 mm
  • Timing Drive - Chain (DOHC)
  • HP power (kW) - 123 (90) at 6300 rpm in min.
  • Torque - 151 Nm at 4850 rpm. in min.
  • Maximum speed - 169 km / h
  • Acceleration to the first hundred - 12.3 seconds
  • Fuel type - gasoline AI-92
  • Compression ratio - 11
  • Fuel consumption in the city - 9 liters
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - 5.8 liters
  • Fuel consumption in the combined cycle - 7 liters

Let's say right away that the same 1.6 liter engine is installed on the 4x4 version of Creta with all-wheel drive, but with changed settings. So the power of the all-wheel drive version of the crossover is 121 hp, and the torque is 148 Nm. Moreover, the consumption is about 0.5 liters more, and acceleration to a groan is a second slower.
