How to change the oil in a Mitsubishi ACX engine. Mitsubishi oil is a high-quality product manufactured for Mitsubishi vehicles

Changing the oil in the 1.8 Mitsubishi ASX engine will not be more difficult for drivers who want to do the procedure on their own. Along with the oil, the oil filter will also need to be replaced.

When to change, how much and what kind of oil to fill in the ACX

The maintenance regulations for Mitsubishi ACX indicate the frequency of changing the oil and oil filter at 15,000 km. Given the severe operating conditions, it is not shameful to reduce the interval to 10,000.

For replacement in 1.8 engine need 4 and a few liters fresh engine oil. A 4 liter canister of original Mitsubishi oil with a viscosity of 5W30 has the article MZ320154 or MZ320364. A liter canister of the same original oil - MZ320153 or MZ320363.

The original Mitsubishi oil filter has the number MZ 690070. You can also supply an analogue: Bosch 00 986 452 041, Mahle OC 0196, Mann W 610/3.

You may also need to replace the drain plug gasket, part number MD050317.

How to change oil and oil filter ACX

Everything is pretty normal here. Before replacing the engine, it is worth warming up so that the oil is more fluid and drains better. Then get convenient access to the oil pan (overpass, pit, lift, ramp or jack to help).

The oil will drain faster if you unscrew the filler cap and pull out the dipstick.

First you need to substitute the container under the drain hole and unscrew the drain bolt. In this case, it is better to be careful, remembering the heated oil. While the oil is draining into the container, you can do the oil filter.

Usually oil filter replacement it's simple - it even has to be unscrewed by hand. But if it was tightly clamped, a puller may be needed - there are many varieties of them. When unscrewing the filter, you should also be careful, as a little oil will run from it.

It is advisable to fill the new filter with new oil before installation, and lubricate the filter sealing gum with it

It is necessary to twist tightly, but by hand, tightening no more than a quarter of a turn after the gum comes into contact with the seat. If you overdo it, then you need a puller.

After that, you can install the drain bolt in place by replacing the gasket on it. Making sure that screw and filter are securely tightened, you can start pouring new oil into the engine.

First, it is better to pour in a little less than 4 liters of oil, then tighten the filler cap and start the engine for a few minutes. After waiting another 10 minutes, while the oil flows into the sump, check the oil level on the dipstick, and add to the upper mark.

Mitsubishi ASX is a compact urban crossover, which is currently only available in the secondary market. In this regard, the question of the possibility of self-service of this car is now more than relevant. The machine is quite reliable, made of high quality components. But with the age of the car, the topic of repair becomes more relevant and, moreover, not everyone wants to use the expensive services of a Mitsubishi dealership. Therefore, more and more owners are adapting to maintenance on their own. There is no question of some kind of complex repair, because for a start it is enough to replace consumables - for example, change engine oil. This is one of the simplest and, at the same time, the most important ASX maintenance procedures. Let's consider it in more detail.

This question is asked by every inexperienced or professional motorist. Indeed, it is not always possible to immediately determine the appropriate fluid for the ASX motor, given the huge variety of lubricant companies. Among them, of course, it is better to choose the most famous and status brands, which, at the same time, are considered the most expensive. Buying an analogue is a very controversial issue. To choose a suitable analogue, you need to know the oil parameters specified in the Mitsubishi ASX operating instructions.

Mitsubishi has its own, original oil, with which the crossover of the same name left the factory assembly line. So, we are talking about the product Engine Oil with a viscosity grade of 5W-30. Thus, we have a fully synthetic oil that meets all international API and ALSAC standards. In general, synthetics are the best option for a modern car.

How much and when to fill in oil in Mitsubishi ACX?

Mitsubishi ASX engine fluid is poured in a certain amount. Regardless of the engine displacement, you can calculate the average oil fill volume for all ASX engines - it is 4.2 liters. In any case, it is recommended to purchase a 5-liter canister, because it is possible that in the future you will have to add oil.

As for the replacement schedule, it is 15 thousand kilometers, according to the manufacturer's recommendations. But given the difficult operating conditions in Russia (compared to the favorable European climate), it is desirable to reduce the replacement schedule to 10 thousand kilometers. Under the influence of adverse climatic and road conditions, engine oil quickly loses its properties and becomes unusable. Then comes the so-called "oil starvation" - in other words, dry friction of internal parts, which begin to experience a lack of lubrication. As a result, motor components wear out quickly and fail under the influence of various mud deposits.

Japanese engineers, of course, advise filling in only their own Mitsubishi branded oil. It is possible that such oil will not always be available in a particular region.

Now let's look at the best engine oils and parameters for them, as well as the best analogue brands that have approval from Mitsubishi:

Mitsubishi ASX was first seen in Geneva in 2010. In the domestic markets of Japan, the car is called the RVR and in the United States is sold as the Outlander Sport. In the Russian markets, ASX can be found with three different engines of 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 liters. There are also diesel units with a power of 1.6 and 2.2 liters, but they never reached Russia.

In any case, a car (even a Japanese one) needs care and maintenance. The better you take care of the mechanism, the longer it will please you. Routine maintenance should be performed once every 15,000 km. Changing the oil and cleaning filters is not difficult and can be done by hand in an hour in the backyard.

Refueling volumes and oil selection

Below is the location of the table of oil capacity for different engine versions of engines. In any case, if you buy a 5 liter canister, then about a liter step aside for topping up (and this must be borne in mind).

Step-by-step instruction

  1. Warm up a cold engine. We need to clean the crankcase of the old oil, the more it flows out the better.
  2. For easy access to the drain plug (and in some models the oil filter is also attached from the bottom) and the bottom of the car as a whole, you need to jack it up or drive into the inspection hole (the best option). Also, in some models, "protection" of the engine crankcase can be installed.
  3. Unscrew and pull out the dipstick and filler plug. This way we will allow air for a better stack of old mining from the crankcase.
  4. Substitutes a large container (equal to the amount of oil being poured).
  5. We unscrew the drain plug with a key. Sometimes the drain plug is made like a conventional “bolt” with an open-end wrench, and sometimes it can be unscrewed with a four or hexagon. Do not forget to wear protective gloves, the oil will most likely wake up warm, but you need to be careful.
  6. We wait about 10-15 minutes until the mining drains into a basin or a cut plastic canister.
  7. An optional item but very effective! Flushing the engine with a special fluid is not included in the maintenance schedule and is not mandatory - but. A little confused, you will much better flush the engine from the old, black oil. At the same time, flushing with the old oil filter is carried out for 5-10 minutes. You will be surprised what black oil will pour out with this liquid. It is very easy to use this liquid. A detailed description must be included on the flush fluid label.
  8. We replace the old filter with a new one. In some models, it is not the filter itself and the filter element that changes (usually yellow). Impregnation of the filter with new oil before installation is a mandatory procedure. Lack of oil in a new filter before starting the engine can cause oil starvation, which in turn can cause filter deformation. In general, this is not a good thing. Remember to also lubricate the rubber o-ring before installation.

  9. Fill in new oil. After making sure that the drain plug is screwed on and a new oil filter is installed, we can start filling in new oil, guided by the dipstick. The level must be between the minimum and maximum marks. Also, you need to remember that after the first start of the engine, a little oil will go away and the level will drop.
  10. Recheck the oil level on the dipstick after the first start. Let the engine run for about 10 minutes at idle.

There are products on the Russian market of automotive oils, the opinion of which Russian car owners have is ambiguous. One of these is Mitsubishi engine oil, designed for use in cars of this Japanese manufacturer. And since we have quite a lot of adherents of this brand, scammers began to manufacture counterfeit goods. Naturally, such a fake, in terms of its quality characteristics, cannot be compared with the original oils. This is the reason for the negative feedback.

Who produces the original lubricant

Mitsubishi does not produce engine oil for its cars, although its engineering and scientific staff are actively involved in its development. The work is carried out jointly with specialists from Nippon Oil & Energy, a subsidiary of the largest Japanese corporation. It also includes the Mitsubishi Oil division created by Mitsubishi. Nippon specializes in the extraction of oil and the production of automotive lubricants based on it, has its own brand of engine oil, known throughout the world - Eneos.

Japanese engines from major Japanese automakers, including Mitsubishi, have unique design features. Therefore, special oil formulations are produced for them - specifically for each car manufacturer. Honda, Toyota, Subaru are also on this list, having their own original oils. For them, these products, apart from Nippon, are also produced by Idemitsu Corporation.

Japanese power units are designed for low-viscosity oil fluids - 0W20, 5W20, 0W30, 5W30, 10W30, and also 5W40. Their main high-temperature quality indicators correspond to viscosity 20 and 30, with the exception of low-temperature (winter) viscosity. Here you can purchase lubricant both for the northern regions of the Russian Federation (0W), which can easily ensure engine cranking up to -30 ° C, and for temperate latitudes (10W), up to a temperature limit of -20 ° C. For consumers, synthetic and semi-synthetic motor fluid is produced.

Mitsubishi oil production technology

Japanese refining giants produce base oil (MM or lubricant) for automotive lubricants from crude oil, which they themselves extract. Moreover, raw materials cost them almost nothing. During primary processing, oil is separated into light and heavy fractions. Of the lungs, this is, for example, an accompanying gas - ethylene, gasoline. Heavier light fractions - kerosene, diesel fuel.

The heaviest components are gas oil and tar. A hundred years ago, these fractions were burned - until the time when mankind learned how to make lubricants from them. Now tar and gas oil undergo distillation and thorough purification, being processed using hydrotreating and deep catalytic hydrocracking technologies. The result is a colorless liquid devoid of harmful impurities such as water, mineral salts, aromatic hydrocarbons, sulfur and phosphorus compounds, paraffins, and other constituents. Its quality characteristics are very close to those of real 100% synthetics.

The base oil is fully compatible with any additives, neutral with respect to the materials of seals - oil seals, gaskets. It mixes well with mineral oils, forming semi-synthetic products.

Mitsubishi engine oil refers to HC or VHVI synthetics. True, not everyone considers hydrocracking oils to be synthetic. Some companies even went to court on this issue. Manufacturers of PAO-synthetic oils stubbornly refuse to recognize them, considering them semi-synthetic or completely mineral. The most interesting thing is that this assessment is also fair. However, it concerns only the origin, but not the quality indicators of this base oil.

Main oil components

As can be seen from the diagrams, almost all lubricants for automotive engines consist of 3 main components:

  1. Base base - mineral, semi-synthetic or synthetic.
  2. Viscosity modifier that increases the stability of viscosity properties in the operating temperature range.
  3. A package of additives that improve the properties of the base lubricant.

The additive package has a diverse purpose:

In addition to the main ones, the developers of new oils are constantly introducing additional components. The content depends on how the engines of each manufacturer behave during testing, including Mitsubishi.

Assortment of oils for Mitsubishi cars

Oil for Mitsubishi has a base base obtained by hydrocracking. But there are also products of the Full Synthetic and semi-synthetic class. Recommended for use in models such as Pajero of all modifications, Outlander, Lancer, ASX, Grandis, Colt and others.
