The white block of the wiring harness will open to the eyes, stretching from the LCD display of the instrument cluster. Often this block touches the casing, and it chirps in motion! The regular plastic harness holder does not save from this. I put a piece of rubber hose cut lengthwise on the block, but foam rubber or other suitable material can be used.

But somewhere else was hiding another source of rattling, and of a lower tone. After listening, I realized that it was the lower facing casing that was “talking” when it was disturbed by the steering column adjustment lever. I got rid of the annoying sound very easily: by lowering the lever, I bent it a little.

Doors can rattle quite loudly at the "viburnum" - any play in the hinges is given by a knock on the bumps. On Kalina, the hinge axis is removable, screwed into the body on a thread. If the tightening weakens, the knot begins to tap more and more. Tighten the axle - you need a TORX T-40 head. But it happens that the tightening of the axis weakens again. Then we completely unscrew it (the assistant supports the door), clean the threads and, after applying the adhesive fixative, wrap it in place. As a rule, this is enough for a long time, but nevertheless we will make a mark on the axis of each hinge and the body with paint. Such a beacon in the future will allow you to keep an eye on the state of the loop, without bringing the matter to knocks.

I will finish the story with advice for those who are just going to buy Kalina. If I adjust the front seat for myself (my height is 174 cm), then it is impossible to expand the rear seat for carrying cargo. The front seat adjustment range is 168mm, while the raised rear seat cushion eats up a good 90mm. If you have to transport cargo, it is better to remove the pillows in advance and leave them at home (in the garage) or reserve a place for them in the cabin.

In some comments, many owners of Lada Kalina were interested and asked questions about eliminating the rattling of the driver's door. I promised to fix this problem with my car as soon as it gets warmer outside.

After Easter, when the temperature was up to +20 degrees, I decided to deal with this issue of treating my swallow.

So, I will describe in detail all my actions to eliminate all these knocks and rattles. First, I unscrewed all the screws from the bottom pocket, there are two of them. Then I unscrew the plastic latch of the lock along with the insert.



We carefully take it all out, and put it aside so as not to lose a single detail. Then, we take out the plastic round plug, which is located next to the handle for opening the door lock. You will need a thin screwdriver to remove this plug.

After removing this plug, unscrew the screw with a curly screwdriver, and then unscrew and remove the handle. To remove it, you need to pull it towards you and unscrew the screw that secures the handle.

After that, we turn out the last bolt, which is located at the very bottom of the hole, with which we open the door. If you look at the photo, the hole is located to the left of the opening handle.

Then you can proceed to the removal, or partial removal of the skin. The main thing in this matter is not to overdo it, since the plastic latches with which the skin is fixed to the body are not very reliable. Carefully pry a screwdriver under the door trim, and slowly try to remove the trim, preferably around the perimeter. You can insert, for example, a screwdriver, and move around the perimeter, the main thing is not to break the latches.

When the casing has moved away from the door, it is not at all necessary to remove it to the end, you just have to then disconnect the wires from the speakers and the central locking control unit and power windows. It is not necessary to do this at all.

To begin with, we tighten all the bolts and nuts of the body, this will require two keys for 10, and for 8. After all the connections have been tightened, we proceed to the main source of rattling. And this source is the pull that closes and opens the lock.

And we do something like it is shown in the photo, preferably more carefully, I'm just in a hurry. We wrap the rods with foam rubber and fix it with electrical tape. And then we move it all down so that the rod does not touch the body and does not rattle.

Of course, all this could be done much easier, it was enough to find a flexible thin hose or tube, something like a tube from a dropper, only of a larger diameter. Then we put everything in the reverse order, we tighten all the bolts and screws, and try to make all the latches sit in place. That's all, after this repair, now the driver's door of Kalina no longer rattles and rattles.

So, if you notice that the windows of your car are dangling, then most likely the problem is in the rubber seals. For example, the Kalina door glass seal wears out after 2-3 MOTs.

You can solve the problem by replacing it with a new one, but it is very difficult to find a new seal for Kalina even knowing its catalog number. In addition, this approach will relieve the problem only for a short time. To forget about door crickets for a long time, it is proposed to modify the seal, reinforcing it from the inside by installing another D-shaped seal.



You can find such a sealant on the construction market, costing 20 rubles / m. We lower the glass, take out the rubber seal, prying it on both sides and pulling it down. We install an additional seal inside on both sides. As a result, the windows no longer rattle, not only when traveling, but also when you close the doors.

A year ago, a group of LADA car owners visited the plant, who talked with the quality director, expressing their claims and suggestions. And in November last year, at the invitation of Quality Director Laurent Fofan, I visited AVTOVAZ, where a traditional event called “Quality Day” was held. I was invited to speak at the event with a report on how we, consumers, see LADA cars, what problems we face, and what we would like to improve. For several days on the forums of the club, we collected complaints about cars, supported by photographs and explanations, compiled statistics ... As a result, we got an extensive report, which I made at the Quality Day in the presence of hundreds of factory workers and enterprise management.

Three weeks later, I was again invited to AVTOVAZ - now in order to give answers to the comments made by the members of the forum (all the materials of the Club, of course, were transferred to AVTOVAZ). For more than three hours we talked with engineers at the scientific and technical center of AVTOVAZ. There were also heated debates. Discussion of some issues was postponed to a later date. Well, what I was told and shown is below. Complaint: "The front struts knock, working on the rebound"

This noise is functional and occurs during the operation of the hydraulic buffer. When picking up, the restrictive sleeve fixed on the rod rests against the hydraulic buffer plunger and moves it all the way into the guide sleeve. In this case, damping occurs due to the throttling of the fluid.

The applied design in the form of a hydraulic buffer reduces pickup forces and significantly reduces the level of knocks in comparison with the design in the form of an elastic recoil buffer widely used in racks.

Functional noise is the price to pay for a long-travel suspension. However, today AVTOVAZ, together with the supplier, continues to work on reducing the noise of the rebound rack. A technical solution has now been found. Implementation is planned for 2014.

Complaint: "Problems of regular multimedia (slowdowns, freezes, does not reflect all formats, etc.)".

The supplier has developed an upgraded software that eliminates these comments. It was possible to increase the speed of the processor. If an old version is installed on LADA Kalina or LADA Granta, it can be replaced in the near future during scheduled maintenance at an authorized dealer or when addressing a problem with MMC operation. LADA Priora with MMC started immediately with updated firmware.

The navigation function is planned to be launched in 2014. Cars with navigation are being tested today. The navigator consists of a combined FM and GLONASS antenna, an antenna cable, a radio set, and a combination of instruments, which includes a navigation receiver. In addition to the main screen, a prompt will be used in the instrument cluster - it warns of turns in advance, it also works at difficult interchanges.

Complaint: "Rear doors are hard to open"

This problem is a consequence of the vibration activity of the power unit on the supports and the cable drive minimizes the transmission of vibration to the gearshift lever. When checking the consumer's claims for "bounce", a deviation in the socket of the cable tip and a lack of lubrication were revealed. Measures have been taken to eliminate the deviation in the socket, and the lack of lubrication. Strict quality control of cable manufacturing has now been introduced.

Complaint: "Hum, howl MCP"

Together with Renault, work was carried out with the supplier to improve the stability of the EURU by changing the software (software) of the control unit. The new software is validated, the supplier is preparing for production. The modernization took place without changing the design - only by changing the software. The use of the modernized chassis improved the steering characteristics in the area of ​​small steering wheel angles (up to 30-40 degrees), the feeling of the "center", the steering information content (increase in effort when deviating from the center), at steering angles of more than 40 degrees - uniform angular acceleration of the car (Fig.9).

Steering column reach adjustment is used mainly for the more expensive car segment. For cars on the platform LADA Kalina and LADA Priora, its application is not provided. This function will be implemented in the LADA B platform.

On cars with ABS, new front pads with TIIR 299 linings and rear pads with TIIR 444 linings are being introduced. This improves the efficiency of the pads and their heat resistance. Due to this, the brake pedal became more sensitive. Further plans are to change the characteristics of the vacuum brake booster. The gain will be changed; was 5, now it will be 6.3. And the so-called “jump” will be changed - the pressure in the system has become greater after pressing the pedal. This will improve the ergonomic performance of the brakes.

Complaint: “Insufficient tightness of the passenger compartment (water from the street gets into the trunk, passenger compartment, seat belts)”

Additional sealing of welded flanges and seams on the body has been introduced. Before painting the body, the mastic is applied to those places where water can seep.
To prevent water from entering the trunk through the deflector zone, on the entire LADA Priora family of cars, the exhaust ventilation deflector 2112 (with a complex surface of contact with the body) was replaced by 1118.
Additionally, sealing of the deflector zone was introduced.
. Simultaneously with the update of LADA Priora, the position of the deflector 1118 on the sedan (2170) was optimized. It is taken away from the water flows that occur on the sides of the trunk lid during rain or washing. Additionally, the design of the deflector 1118-8104085 was corrected to prevent water from entering the trunk through the deflector valve.

Models 2172 (hatchback) also use an improved exhaust deflector 1118.

On 2171 (station wagon), the deflector 1118 was initially used on the side surface of the body, where water could not enter the deflector.

Measures to prevent water from entering the cabin:

Before the development of mirrors of a modified design, water could enter through the door into the cabin - through the wiring harness of the external side mirrors. With the development of mirrors of a new design (including those with direction indicators) used on the modern LADA Priora, the problem has been completely solved.

In 2012, a special non-drying mastic was introduced on all LADA Priora cars on the lower edge of the side door upholstery and additional drainage holes in the inner panels of the side doors. Thus, water from the door glass, falling into the space between the upholstery and the inner door panel, is retained by the sealing mastic and flows out through the lower drainage holes in the door.


Measures to prevent water from entering the belt:

On all updated LADA Priora, to prevent water from entering the passenger compartment and onto the seat belt through the door wiring harness and the "B" pillar, door glass with water-reflecting plates (curtain) has been mastered. Water from the door glass, falling on the plate (and not on the tourniquet!), flows back into the door and through the drainage holes back to the street. Thus, water does not enter the harness and further along the harness through the “B” pillar to the seat belt. The plates are glued to the glass - while taking into account the experience of other models, and the connection is made more reliable.

To reduce the likelihood of water entering the cabin through the front doors, water-reflecting plates (curtains) in the front doors will also be mastered in 2014.

Complaint: "Knock and play of the steering rack"

Previously, the rectifier unit was prefabricated, pulled together with a bolt, then it became monolithic. In autumn 2013, the supplier switched to the supply of generators with a new rectifier unit, as well as a shaft with a thrust flange (prevents self-loosening of the nut). In addition, the supplier has implemented the torque control of the B+ output terminal.

When LADA Priora was updated, the design of the door upholstery was changed.

To eliminate rattling and departure of the door upholstery from the inner door panel, the upper fastening buttons of the door upholstery were replaced with imported ones (F.Raymond), which provide a more reliable fixation.
For cars without an audio system, grille plugs have been introduced in the door upholstery in front of the speakers.
The already mentioned sealing mastic dampens vibrations of the door upholstery and eliminates rattling.

To eliminate rattling, metal lugs with holes for attaching rods were replaced on all 4 doors with plastic brackets.

A spacer sleeve was used on the rear window lifter drive shaft. It is elastic, creates a small tension and reduces noise.

Noise-damping elements are installed on the rods with a lock and noise-damping bandages on the wiring harnesses.

Complaint: "Insufficient noise-vibration isolation"

Unused holes were eliminated or muffled and existing holes in the soundproof upholstery of the bulkhead shield were optimized.

In 2014, engine compartment seals will be installed to reduce cabin noise.

The supplier of supports and suspension braces of the power unit has been replaced. Now supplier v. Trelleborg (Germany). The production of components is localized in Russia. With the replacement of the supplier, stable quality and the required characteristics of the suspension components of the power unit were obtained.

The suspension has improved vibration damping characteristics. Thus, the vibration transmission from the operating power unit to the body and further into the cabin is reduced.

New KP2180 and new cable drive, shifting with flexible cables, the design eliminates the transmission of vibrations to the gearbox lever and provides a clear shift.

The serial design currently being installed is KP2112, switching by rods, the design involves the transmission of vibrations to the gearshift lever through rods.

Since mid-2012, Federal Mogul pistons with graphite coated skirts have been introduced. This coating provides piston and cylinder running-in with minimal clearances and eliminates piston scuffing during cold starts.

In the near future, almost all clamps of the cooling system will be replaced with spring ones - this will happen when switching to the MCP 2180.

A measure has also been introduced that allows eliminating corrosion of the exhaust system by removing aggressive liquid accumulating in muffler banks due to the ejective effect and special holes.

Initially, a simple 1DIN radio player with an original front panel was planned for use in an expanded number of configurations, but a supplier was not found. Today we are preparing an adapter for using standard 1DIN players. The adapter is being developed and should be mastered in the second half of 2014.

Now we are working on the development of the production of a new mudguard 2172. It should appear in 2014. It has fewer holes, it covers more area (and has more rigidity).

Having traveled for more than one year on Kalina, its owners may begin to notice an unpleasant rattle of the side windows. Over time, the seals wear out and press the glass with less force. Therefore, there is rattling. Also, because of this, the glass can arbitrarily descend to the bottom, which is also not very pleasing and, moreover, causes unnecessary trouble. How to fix these problems?

Of course, you can buy a new seal and the matter is over. But a new seal costs money, which in this situation can be easily saved.

We will be engaged in the restoration of the rear door glass seal Lada Kalina. To do this, we need to buy a regular home window / door seal, just not too thick. We will seal the worn glass seal with it.

Eliminate glass rattle

First you need to lower the window and pull out the sealing gum. Just pull out not completely, leave its edges in the door. This will make it easier to install back.

We turn out the gum from the side of the glass (its bottom) and wipe all the accumulated dust.

On the larger side (inner), we will glue the purchased sealant. Try to stick as tightly as possible, closer to the side. We glue the entire perimeter in this way. One side will be enough.

Now you can push everything back. We do the same with the second window. If desired and necessary, the front windows can also be sealed. I have ESPs in front, so I didn’t notice much rattle.

You will feel the result immediately after the first ride. There will be no glass rattle, moreover, less dust and noise from the street will get into the cabin.
