This standard establishes the shape, color, dimensions and technical requirements for the marking of streets and roads under construction and in operation (hereinafter referred to as roads), regardless of their departmental affiliation.

3. Types and basic parameters

3.1 Lines, inscriptions and other designations used independently, in combination with road signs or traffic lights, on the carriageway of roads with an improved surface, curbs, elements of road structures and road conditions should be considered markings.

3.2 There are two marking groups horizontal and vertical. Each type of markup is assigned a number consisting of numbers, meaning the first number is the number of the group to which the markup belongs (1 - horizontal, 2 - vertical), the second is the serial number of the markup in the group, the third is the type of markup.

3.3 The numbers, shape, color, dimensions and purpose of each type of markup are given in the appendix (tables and). The sizes of arrows, letters and numbers are given in the appendix (figures -).

3.4 Horizontal markings may be permanent or temporary. The functions of temporary road markings are limited to the duration of roadworks or events that require its introduction.

Temporary road markings, except for 1.4, 1.10, 1.17, must be orange in color and made with materials that allow for its quick removal. When applied, the removal of permanent markings is not necessary.

3.5 Rules for the use of road marking lines are given in GOST R 52289.

4. General technical requirements

4.1 Marking can be done with various materials (paint, thermoplastic, cold plastic, polymer tapes, piece molds, reflectors, etc.) that meet the technical requirements below.

4.2 When drawing marking lines, their deviation from the design position should not exceed 5 cm.

The deviation of the dimensions of the marking lines from those established by this standard should not exceed:

1 cm - along the width of the line;

5 cm - along the length of strokes and breaks.

4.3 The markings should not protrude above the carriageway by more than 6 mm.

Reflectors (reflectors) used for optical orientation of the driver in combination with horizontal marking lines or independently, should not rise more than 15 mm above the carriageway.

4.4 The curing time of markings from plastic marking materials after their application to the coating should not exceed 20 minutes, and drying of paintwork materials to degree 3 according to GOST 19007 - 30 minutes, at a temperature of (20 ± 5) ° C and relative humidity (65 ± 10) %.

4.5 The coefficient of adhesion of horizontal markings in any period of operation should not differ by more than 25% from the coefficient of adhesion of the coating on which this marking is applied.

4.6 Markings made with thermoplastic, cold plastic or other similar materials must have a functional durability of at least one year, and paintwork materials - at least 6 months.

The functional durability of the marking is determined by the period during which the marking meets the requirements of this standard, and in any control section with a length of 50 m, the destruction of the marking made of thermoplastic or other durable materials, except for paints, does not exceed 25%, and the wear of the paint marking does not exceed 50% of it. area.

4.7 When marking according to the changed scheme, there should not be visible traces of the old marking.

4.8 Plastic marking materials must be resistant to static exposure to water at a temperature of (20 ± 2) ° C and a saturated sodium chloride solution at a temperature of (0 ± 2) ° C for at least 72 hours, paintwork materials - at least 48 hours.

4.9 Chromaticity coordinates X And at road markings applied to the surface of the carriageway, determined in the CIE 1931 colorimetric system with a light source D and a measurement geometry of 45 ° / 0 ° (see figure), must correspond to those indicated in the appendix (table).

4.10 Marking of roads, except for roads of the 4th category, must be carried out using retroreflective materials.

On road sections that do not have artificial lighting, white marking strips 2.1 - must be made of retroreflective material (except for bollards with internal illumination), and fencing and guiding devices marked with markings - must have retroreflective elements.

Types of retroreflective elements, their dimensions and installation rules must comply with the requirements of GOST R 50970 and GOST R 50971.

4.11 Retroreflective elements used in conjunction with markings - or without markings on galvanized surfaces of road barriers, located to the right of the carriageway in the direction of travel, should be red, and to the left - white or yellow.

The measurement of the retroreflection coefficient for night-time conditions when illuminated by the headlights of a car for wet markings and in the rain is carried out in accordance with the methods described in sections and (Appendix).

5.4 Measurement of the adhesion coefficient of road markings is carried out in accordance with the methodology described in the section (Appendix).

5.5 Measurement of the curing time of the markup after its application to the coating is carried out in accordance with GOST 19007.

5.6 Test marking for resistance to static effects of water and saturated sodium chloride solution is carried out in accordance with GOST 9.403

3. Terms, definitions and designations

3.1. For the purposes of this International Standard, the following terms apply with their respective definitions:

3.1.1. Road markings: lines, inscriptions and other designations on the carriageway of motor roads, artificial structures on them and elements of the arrangement of motor roads, informing road users about the conditions and modes of movement on the road section.

3.1.2. Road marking luminance coefficient: a parameter determined in dry conditions and characterizing the visibility of the markings during daylight hours when viewed in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the road markings from a limited area, and which is an intermediate Y color coordinate, expressed as a percentage.

3.1.3. Reflectivity of a road marking: the ratio of the luminance of a surface in the direction of observation to the illuminance of that surface in a plane perpendicular to the direction of the incident light.

Note. The coefficient of retroreflection of road markings is determined separately for its two states - with a dry pavement and with a wet pavement (during rain).

3.1.4. Diffuse daylight or artificial light reflectance of road markings: the ratio of the brightness of a road marking surface in a given direction to the illumination of that surface by diffuse lighting, determined when the pavement is dry.

3.1.5. Color coordinates of the road marking surface: parameters characterizing the color of the road marking surface and determined in the CIE 1931 colorimetric system.

3.1.6. Functional durability of road markings: the period during which the markings meet regulatory requirements.

3.1.7. Horizontal road marking with a structural surface: a marking made from individual fragments, the degree of filling of the lines of which, when applied, is less than 100%.

Note. The degree of filling of the lines is the ratio of the area covered by the marking material to the surface area of ​​the marking in its outer boundaries, expressed as a percentage.

3.1.8. Horizontal road marking with profiled surface: marking with alternating protrusions of various shapes, the degree of filling of the lines when applied is 100%.

3.1.9. Design position of road markings: the position of markings on the carriageway of motor roads, artificial structures on them and elements of the arrangement of motor roads in accordance with the traffic management project, approved in the prescribed manner.

3.2. In this standard, the following designations for photometric and lighting parameters of horizontal road markings are used:

Marking brightness factor, %;

Light reflection coefficient of the marking under diffuse daylight or artificial lighting, ;

Coefficient of retroreflectivity markings with a dry coating, ;

Coefficient of retroreflectivity markings with a wet coating (during rain), ;

x and y are chromaticity coordinates.

4. Classification of road markings

4.1. Markup is divided into two groups:

  • horizontal marking;
  • vertical marking.

Each markup type is assigned a number that has the following structure of two or three digits or two-digit numbers separated by dots:
the first digit of the number indicates the group to which the markup belongs (1 - horizontal markup, 2 - vertical markup);
the second digit or number indicates the serial number of the markup in the group;
the third digit (if any) is a type of markup.

4.2. The numbers, shape, color, dimensions and purpose of each type of marking are given in Appendix A (tables A.1 and A.2).
It is allowed to apply markings 1.1 - 1.12, 1.14.1, 1.14.2 with a structural and profiled surface.
The outer boundaries of horizontal markings with a structural surface should not exceed the limits established by this standard.
Dimensions of arrows, letters and numbers are given in Appendix B (Figures B.1 - B.9).

4.3. Horizontal markings can be permanent or temporary. Permanent markings, except for 1.4, 1.10, 1.17, must be white, markings 1.4, 1.10, 1.17 must be yellow (see Appendix A).
Temporary markings should be orange in color and made with materials that allow them to be removed quickly. When applying it, the removal of permanent markings is optional.
The functional durability of temporary markings is limited by the duration of roadworks or other events that require its application.

5. Technical requirements

5.1. Marking can be done with paint (enamel), thermoplastic and cold plastic in accordance with GOST R 52575, polymeric tapes in accordance with GOST R 54306, piece forms in accordance with GOST R 53170, reflectors in accordance with GOST R 50971. To give markings made of paints (enamels), thermoplastics and cold plastics, piece forms, retroreflective properties, microglass beads are used according to GOST R 53172.

5.2. When marking is applied, its deviation from the design position should not exceed:

  • for horizontal markings in the transverse direction (relative to the axis of the carriageway) - 0.05 m;
  • for horizontal markings (with the exception of markings 1.1 - 1.6 and 1.8 - 1.11) in the longitudinal direction (relative to the axis of the carriageway) - 0.05 m;
  • for horizontal markings 1.1 - 1.6 and 1.8 - 1.11 in the longitudinal direction - 1.00 m;
  • for vertical marking - 0.05 m.

The deviation of the marking dimensions from those established by this standard and GOST R 52289 should not exceed:

  • 0.01 m along the width of the lines for 1.1 - 1.12 and the distance between them for 1.3, 1.9 and 1.11;
  • 0.10 m along the length of the strokes and gaps between them for 1.2.2, 1.5, 1.6, 1.8 - 1.11;
  • 0.05 m along the length of the strokes and gaps between them for 1.7, 1.15;
  • 5% (but not more than 0.10 m) for other linear dimensions.

When marking 1.1, 1.2.1, 1.3, 1.4, 1.11 with a thickness of 1.5 mm or more, it is allowed to use technological breaks no more than 0.05 m long with a distance between them of at least 20 m.

5.3. Horizontal markings (with the exception of retroreflectors in accordance with GOST R 50971) should not protrude above the surface on which it is applied by more than 6 mm, including the height of the marking protrusions with a profiled surface.

5.4. Marking made with thermoplastic or cold plastic with an application thickness of 1.5 mm or more, piece molds and polymeric tapes must have a functional durability of at least one year, thermoplastic or cold plastic with an application thickness of less than 1.5 mm - at least six months, and paints (enamels) - at least three months.
The functional durability of the marking is determined by the period during which the marking meets the requirements of this standard, and the destruction and wear of the marking of each type in area does not exceed the following values:

  • for marking 1.1 - 1.11, made of thermoplastic or cold plastic with an application thickness of 1.5 mm or more, polymer tapes, piece forms in any control section 50 m long, - 25%;
  • for marking 1.12 - 1.25, made of thermoplastic or cold plastic with an application thickness of 1.5 mm or more, polymer tapes, piece forms - 30%;
  • for marking 1.1 - 1.11, made of paint (enamel), thermoplastic or cold plastic with a coating thickness of less than 1.5 mm on any control section with a length of 50 m - 50%;
  • for marking 1.12 - 1.25, made of paint (enamel), thermoplastic or cold plastic with a coating thickness of less than 1.5 mm - 50%.

5.5. After applying the new marking, traces of the old marking should not protrude beyond the boundaries of the new marking by more than 0.05 m along the length of the dashes and breaks in the marking lines and 0.01 m along the rest of the geometric parameters.

5.6. The x and y color coordinates of the markings applied to the pavement of the carriageway, determined in the CIE 1931 colorimetric system with a D65 light source (according to GOST 7721) and a measurement geometry of 45 ° / 0 ° (see Figure B.1), must correspond to specified in Appendix B (table B.1).

5.7. On sections of roads that do not have artificial lighting, white marking stripes 2.1 - 2.3 must be made of retroreflective material (except for bollards with internal illumination in accordance with GOST R 52766), and enclosing and guiding devices marked with markings 2.4 - 2.6 must have retroreflectors in accordance with GOST R 50971.

5.8. 6 markup classes are set depending on the value of the brightness factor: B0, B1, B2, B3, B4 and B5.
The value of the brightness coefficient of the marking surface, depending on the class assigned to the marking, must correspond to the values ​​specified in Appendix B (table B.2).

5.9. 6 classes of horizontal markings are established depending on the value of the retroreflectivity of the horizontal markings in the dry state: R0, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5.
The value of the coefficient of retroreflection of horizontal markings with a dry coating, depending on the class assigned to the markings, must correspond to the values ​​\u200b\u200bspecified in Appendix B (table B.3).
4 classes of horizontal road markings are established depending on the value of the coefficient of retroreflection of horizontal road markings when wet (during rain): RW0, RW1, RW2, RW3.
The value of the coefficient of retroreflection of horizontal road markings in wet conditions (during rain), depending on the class assigned to the marking, must correspond to the values ​​specified in Appendix B (table B.4).
The coefficient of retroreflection of vertical road markings is not standardized.

5.10. 5 classes of horizontal road markings are established depending on the value of the coefficient of light reflection in diffuse daylight or artificial lighting of horizontal road markings: Q0, Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4.
The value of the coefficient of light reflection in diffuse daylight or artificial lighting of horizontal road markings, depending on the class assigned to the markings, must correspond to the values ​​\u200b\u200bspecified in Appendix B (table B.5).
The coefficient of light reflection in diffuse daylight or artificial lighting of vertical road markings is not standardized.

5.11. The requirements specified in 5.8 - 5.10 for the luminance coefficient, the coefficient of light reflection in diffuse daylight or artificial lighting and the coefficient of retroreflection of the markings must be maintained:

  • for marking out paints (enamels), thermoplastics or cold plastics with a coating thickness of less than 1.5 mm - during the first month of operation;
  • for marking from thermoplastic or cold plastic with a coating thickness of 1.5 mm or more, piece forms, polymeric tapes - during the first three months of operation.

With further operation of road markings during the period of ensuring functional durability, it is allowed to reduce the values ​​​​of the luminance coefficient, the coefficient of retroreflection and the coefficient of light reflection under diffuse daylight or artificial lighting, given in Appendix B, by no more than 25%.

5.12. Rules for the use of marking lines are given in GOST R 52289.
