Review of summer tires. Summer tire tests R16 (2013)

23.12.2020

laneks.lv

The test is traditionally divided into two stages, and in order to get into the second part, the tires had to demonstrate optimal braking performance, which is rightfully considered one of the most important parameters of any tires. When braking hard from 100 km/h, the new Dunlops turned out to be the best on dry pavement, which generally perform brilliantly in tests of European magazines this year, and on wet surfaces, the benchmark for the rest also when stopping from 100 km/h was set by Continental.

Summer tire test from Auto Bild. Qualifying round

As a result, 15 summer tires passed in the second round of tests:

  • Bridgestone Turanza T001
  • Continental ContiPremiumContact 5
  • Dunlop Sport BluResponse
  • Fulda EcoControl HP
  • Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance
  • Hankook Kinergy Eco K425
  • Kumho Solus KH17
  • Michelin Energy Saver+
  • Nokian Line
  • Pirelli Cinturato P1
  • Sava Intensa HP
  • Uniroyal RainExpert
  • Viking ProTech II
  • Vredestein Sportrac 5
  • Yokohama C.Drive2 AC02

Summer tire test from Auto Bild. Second round results

Longitudinal hydroplaning

Uniroyal RainExpert once again proves that they can bear this name, and take first place thanks to the V-shaped tread pattern. Worst of all were Pirelli, which “surfaced” 7 km/h earlier.

Transverse aquaplaning

Cornering is also best handled by Uniroyals, which securely hold traction and keep the front wheels from losing contact with the road. Pirelli are falling back again, losing hope for a high place in the overall standings.

Handling on wet surfaces

The highest grip in difficult situations is provided by Goodyear, which allows you to most dynamically cover the distance on a wet track.

Passing the circular track

On the circuit track, sister brands Goodyear and Dunlop take the lead with the fastest lap times. Tires under the Viking brand (owned by Continental) hold the trajectory much worse.

Dry handling

Thanks to their sporty nature, Yokohama, Bridgestone and Michelin have the best results on dry surfaces, which received the highest subjective ratings from the pilots. At the same time, the very strong understeer of Uniroyal and Viking can spoil all the driving pleasure.

rolling resistance

After the introduction of the new EU label, manufacturers have tried to reduce the rolling resistance of their tires as much as possible, as can be seen from the results of these tests. Compared to Sava, Goodyear tires can reduce fuel consumption by 5%.

Viking was the quietest, while Yokohama and Goodyear demonstrated the highest noise level.

In the small size tire market, competition is fierce: there are top manufacturers, second-line brands, inexpensive domestic products, and Chinese competitors advancing all at once. And this despite the fact that the income from the sold tires in this segment is much less than from tires with a diameter of at least 16 or 17 inches. To make money, you need to sell a lot, and to make good money, you need to sell a lot.

IN THE BEST TRADITIONS (185/60R14)

To test tires of the most massive size in Russia, we attracted products of all price categories.

On the top step of the podium is Nokian-Hakka Green, having improved its last year's (second) result by upgrading the mixture and design in the "wet" direction. Having scored 959 points, Nokian decently broke away from Continental with its new product KontiPremiumKontakt 5, which took second place with 945 points. It is noteworthy that both tires scored more than 748 points out of 750 possible in the "Our measurements" nomination. In terms of price, both products are close, but due to the difference in the results obtained by us, Nokian made in Russia with Finnish roots is slightly more attractive in terms of price / quality ratio than the German Continental made in Portugal.

Pirelli-Chinturato P1 is firmly in the third position, which it has held since last year. Price / quality ratio - 2.6; 925 points is a worthy result.

The Korean "Hankuk-Kinerji eco" aggressively broke into the fourth place. A very ambitious company is constantly improving its product. The result of the efforts is obvious - 916 points, last year's score improved by 20 points!

They will continue in the same spirit - you see, next year Pirelli will be moved from third place.

Somewhat unexpectedly, the younger brother of Nokian, the Nordman brand with the SX model, got into the top five. He is only 1 point behind Hankook. A high level of performance is offered for relatively modest money: price / quality - 2.4.

A little behind, at around 893 points, the Bridgestone MY-02 SS is located. The level reached last year by the Turanza ER 3000 model has remained the same.

We don't consider the MY-02 SS a bargain: the price/quality ratio of 2.9 is the same as that of Continental, which scored 50 points more.

“Yokohama-S.drive2” literally breathes down the back of the head - 891 points. Last year's result of the A.drive model improved by almost 50 points. Although the price / quality ratio, equal to 2.8, is clearly overpriced.

Very close by is our native Amtel-Planet T-301 - the oldest tire in the test (more than six years on the market). Apparently, the relationship with Pirelli helped to stabilize the quality. But, hopefully, it will soon give way to a new model. Nevertheless, the price/quality ratio of 2.3 is the most tempting in the test.

Michelin-Energy XM2 is, by and large, just an enhanced version of the popular Energy Saver. But, judging by our results, something went wrong with this tire with traction, as a result of which it scored only 879 points. This is 15 points worse than last year's result of the previous model. As a result, XM2 could only reach ninth place.

The top ten is closed by purely domestic Cordiant-Sport 2. According to the points scored (872), he improved his position by almost 20 points, but in comparison with others, he rolled back. In terms of price / quality ratio (2.4), it is slightly inferior to Amtel.

Eleventh place "Contyr-Megapolis" clearly shows how difficult it is for a small company to compete with seasoned ones.

However, 828 points is quite a worthy result.

Place of manufacture Ukraine

Tire weight 7.7 kg

The average price is 2100 rubles.

Braking on a dry road is weak, on a wet road they slow down the worst, yielding to the leader of the exercise by 5.8 m - one and a half car bodies.

On a straight line they float slightly. Correction of direction and soft rebuilding are hindered by delays in reactions, insufficiently informative steering wheel and lateral buildup of the car.

The speed of performing extreme maneuvers on dry pavement is noticeably lower than that of other participants. In the limit - the demolition of the front axle at the beginning of maneuvering and a deep skid at the exit. Delayed reactions and lack of information content interfere.

On wet roads, the speed is noticeably reduced: it is limited by a very deep skid with a sharp recovery of grip after slipping. The steering wheel is empty like a joystick.

About comfort: the noise is not annoying, but the smoothness of the ride leaves much to be desired. On small and medium bumps, the tires vibrate and shake the car, on large ones they throw up.

They roll reluctantly, forcing them to consume excess fuel at any speed.

Low noise level.

The weakest braking properties on wet surfaces, weak on dry ones, increased fuel consumption, problematic handling during extreme maneuvering on dry and wet surfaces, poor directional stability, poor ride.

The average price is 2100 rubles.

Braking on a dry road is weak, on a wet road - satisfactory.

At high speed, they do not go quite smoothly, constantly requiring slight adjustments. Slight delays in reactions, blurry, fuzzy "zero", insufficient information content.

During extreme maneuvering on a dry road, it is inconvenient to drive a car: very large steering angles and low information content interfere.

Speed is limited to a sharp stall into a deep skid.

On wet pavement, the behavior changes slightly.

The balance is closer to neutral, but not completely - the drift in the initial phase of maneuvering at the exit turns into a protracted skid with a sharp restoration of adhesion. Remarks to the steering wheel remain.

They make a howling noise, sound irregularities.

They itch and vibrate on rough asphalt and small bumps, large bumps go through hard.

Roll badly, forcing to spend excess fuel at any speed.

Average braking results on wet pavement, satisfactory noise level.

Unsatisfactory braking on dry pavement, increased fuel consumption, poor directional stability and handling during sharp maneuvers on dry and wet surfaces, low ride comfort.

They brake on dry land the worst of all, losing to the leader of the exercise 3.6 m - almost the body of the car.

On a wet surface, grip properties also do not shine, only Contyre is worse.

At high speed, the car walks along the road.

Correcting the direction or gently changing the lane is difficult due to the very wide "zero", delays in reactions and lateral buildup after the maneuver.

Fast lane changes on a dry road are limited by sharp skids. Before the start of slips, increased steering angles and a lack of information content interfere.

On wet roads, the speed of performing extreme maneuvers remains low. It is limited to an even sharper slip into a skid already at the moment the rudder is shifted - as if the sidewall of the tires has developed and the tread has lost contact with the road. The disadvantages in behavior are the same as on a dry road, but more pronounced.

There are no comments regarding comfort. They roll quietly, only slightly voicing the transverse seams. Well hide medium and large irregularities.

Economical at any speed.

Modest fuel consumption at any speed, good comfort.

The worst braking properties on dry pavement, weak on wet pavement, handling during sharp maneuvering on wet pavement leaves much to be desired.

On a dry road, they slow down weakly, almost on a par with the Cordiant. On a wet road, they stop reluctantly, only the Contyre is worse.

At high speed, they keep the given direction well, soft changes are performed clearly, without remarks. I liked the tight steering wheel with good reactions.

High-speed maneuvering is possible at a fairly high speed, which is limited by a sharp stall into a skid. Clear reactions and good steering information help to perform and complete the maneuver.

On a wet road, the behavior does not change, the speed is limited by the same stall into a skid. Immediate reactions to the steering wheel and understandable behavior of the car remain unchanged.

Noise buzzing, general plan. Rigid almost like Cordiant, they jump on large irregularities, and on small ones they vibrate so that the door upholstery begins to “talk” in the cabin.

Fuel consumption in urban driving modes is average, in suburban - increased.

Good directional stability, stable handling during sharp maneuvering on dry and wet pavement.

Worst braking properties on dry pavement, weak on wet pavement, increased fuel consumption at 90 km/h, poor ride.

In terms of braking properties, it is average on both dry and wet surfaces.

At high speed keep the course clearly. However, directional corrections and soft rebuilds make wide zeros and delayed responses more difficult.

With sharp maneuvering on a dry road, the speed is limited by the rate of rotation of the steering wheel and its low information content. With smooth, soft steering, you can achieve better results. But sharp turns of the steering wheel cause drift at the beginning of the maneuver and skid at the exit, culminating in a sharp restoration of grip.

On wet surfaces, the speed remains average.

It is not possible to increase it by a deep skid at the exit and insufficient information content of the steering. Conclusion: tires on any surface require smooth, gentle steering. Sudden actions lead to loss of traction.

Soft and quiet on the road of any quality, extinguish almost all road bumps.

Easy to roll, economical.

Modest fuel consumption at any speed, a good level of comfort.

Difficult handling during sharp maneuvering on dry and wet pavement.

They brake very well on dry surfaces, but on wet surfaces they pass, sliding into the lagging group, to Michelin and Amtel.

At high speed, they require clarification of the direction; when correcting, they strain the driver with a fuzzy “zero” and insufficient information content.

The speed of performing extreme maneuvers on a dry road is limited by a stall. It is difficult to clearly perform a sharp lane change: delayed reactions and increased steering angles interfere.

On wet roads, the speed of a successful speed change is reduced, but the behavior of the car does not change. The comments on the steering and the behavior of the car are the same - delays in reactions, increased steering angles and stalling in a skid at the limit.

There are no comments regarding noise, but the ride is far from ideal. On microroughnesses, seams and cracks they vibrate and shake the car, on large ones they bounce like pumped balls. At a speed of 60 km / h, fuel consumption is average, at 90 km / h above average.

In braking on dry surfaces, they show the third result, only Continental and their older brother Nokian are ahead. They also stop well on wet pavement: they hold on to fourth position, losing to the same two tires and Hankook.

There are no claims to exchange rate stability at high speed. With a smooth lane change, the not quite clear “zero” and small delays interfere a little.

The speed of intensive changeover on a dry road is limited by a sharp skid, but the recovery of the course is soft. For the successful implementation of extreme maneuvers, it is important to choose the right rate of rotation of the steering wheel, correlating it with the speed of the car. This is not easy to do due to the large angles of rotation and insufficient information content.

When performing such maneuvers on a wet surface, the behavior of the car practically does not change - the speed is limited to a slight skid.

Steering notes are the same as on dry pavement.

They roll quietly and quite softly, but at the seams and cracks they make the car shudder.

Fuel consumption is normal at any speed.

The level of braking properties is high. They slow down on dry land on a par with the Pirelli. On a wet road, the results of braking are close to those shown by the leaders of the exercise - "Continental" and "Nokian": only 30 cm worse.

They keep a clear course, but soft rebuilding and direction correction are complicated by a wide “zero” and delays in steering responses.

The speed during extreme maneuvering is high, limited by a soft skid. Strain only a slight delay in reactions and a feeling of clamped steering.

On wet pavement, the rearrangement speed is record-breaking (in this exercise, Hankook is on a par with Pirelli), limited by a soft skid. Small complaints that arose during a sharp lane change on a dry road remain: the information content is mediocre, there are slight delays in reactions, forcing the steering wheel to work slightly ahead. They roll silently and softly, but on rough pavement, seams and cracks make the steering wheel and gear lever tremble.

Fuel consumption is average at any speed.

They brake well on dry, in this discipline they are on a par with Hankook. In the wet, they roll back to the middle peasants, yielding to the leaders by almost 2 m.

The set course at high speed is kept clearly.

Soft rebuilding is performed without delay, without straining the driver.

During an abrupt lane change on dry pavement, the speed is high. Limited by a shallow, smooth drift that does not allow you to go faster.

With complex maneuvers, clear reactions help, a well-understood steering wheel with small turning angles.

On wet pavement, the speed reaches the highest values in the test (again on a par with the Hankook). The behavior of the car remains unchanged, the speed limiter is a light skid, which practically does not require adjustment. The steering wheel with excellent reactions and information content is well understood.

In terms of comfort, they are close to the “Continental”: they roll just as inaudibly, they itch in the same way and shake the car on small road bumps.

They save fuel both at urban and suburban speeds.

In good tradition, Continental tires have a minimum braking distance. On a dry road, they are the best in the test: only 10 cm, but they beat Nokian.

On wet roads, the braking distance is also the shortest, but here it is the same as that of the opponent.

At high speed carry the car smoothly. Smooth lane changes are performed smoothly and safely. This is facilitated by an informative steering wheel and immediate execution of commands.

Extreme maneuvers on dry roads can be performed at high speed, but slightly less than in the case of the Nokian. Reactions are immediate, the steering wheel is clear and informative, but unnecessarily heavy at the moment of exiting the “straight” position. This feature, albeit a little, but limits the rate of rotation when shifting through “zero” during extreme maneuvering.

On a wet road, everything repeats itself without changes in behavior.

Roll quietly, do not make noise. But they feel any road bumps and micro-roughness - as if you are walking barefoot on the road

Economical in all conditions.

Excellent braking on dry and wet roads, coming close to the results of the constant champion in braking "Continental". On a dry road, they lose 20 cm to him, and on a wet road, the rivals have the same results.

They hold the road very well at high speed.

Sharp reactions and high information content help to correct the direction with a slight movement and gently change the lane.

When performing extreme maneuvers on dry pavement, they reach a record speed in our test. This is facilitated by a clear steering wheel with excellent information content, understandable behavior of the car with a slight skid in the limit.

On wet roads, the speed of complex maneuvers remains high. The behavior of the car is perfectly balanced: there are no pronounced drifts or drifts.

FOR BUDGET AMENDMENT (175/70R13)

At the numerous requests of readers, we checked inexpensive tires of a size that is very popular on our market - “thirteenth”. But there is not much variety here. Here is a clear example of the economical approach of manufacturers to this category of tires: some of them are made only with a “slow” T index (speed up to 190 km / h), while others are made only with a “fast” H (up to 210 km / h). It doesn’t matter, we’ll combine them, because all the same, such speeds are unattainable in real conditions.

So, we took eight tires of the most popular brands. They also added a reference tire - a kind of reference point, appointing the Nordman-SX model, relatively inexpensive, but very decent according to the results of the 185 / 60R14 tire test, to its role.

In addition, we considered that the tests of these tires would be incomplete without braking on locked wheels. After all, their main consumers - "Samara", part of the "grant" and many other inexpensive cars - do not have an anti-lock braking system in the standard.

So, in this group, the Amtel-Planet 3 model, which appeared on sale six years ago, was ahead of everyone, gaining 913 points - the oldest in the test. The price / quality ratio (2.1) is the most favorable for her. Following, with a gap of only 3 points, is the Cordiant RoadRunner: 910 points. Almost on the same level with him "Tigar-Sigura" (909 points) from Serbia. The price / quality ratio they have is the same - 2.2.

"Breeze", a fresh model of "Kama", is in fourth place with 905 points. The top five also included Belshina Bel-103 (894 points). The sixth result for the tire "Matador-Omka": 871 points. Seventh in our rating was Contyre-Megapolis with 863 points. The eighth-placed Chinese Capitol-Sport, which literally cannot stand wet roads, is far behind. He could not even reach 800 points, scoring indecently low - 785. At the same time, his price / quality ratio is prohibitively high: 2.5.

And how is our reference point - "Nordman-SX"? He showed himself well done: scored 940 points and took a leading position. However, the results are not the best in all exercises, in some ways he slightly lost to less expensive tires. The price / quality ratio is the same as that of "Kontyre" - 2.3.

With ABS, they lose to the leaders of the exercises on a dry road for more than 6 m, on a wet road - almost 8 m.

In braking, skidding also does not shine. On dry pavement, the result is worse than that of the leaders by 3 m, on wet pavement - by more than 5 m.

Exchange rate stability is disgusting - the car scours. The wide, empty "zero", delays in reactions and catching up steering of the rear axle interfere with correcting the direction.

The rate of successful maneuvering is significantly lower than that of other participants. Even at low speed, the car does not want to obey the driver - it refuses to turn, it slides straight with all its might. If you managed to turn into the next lane, then staying on it, struggling with a sharp, whip-like skid, is an even bigger problem. On wet roads, the car loses traction much earlier than on dry roads, and slides longer, as if on soap.

Uncomfortable. They hum, rumble and vibrate, especially strongly at speeds from 50 to 70 km / h. Shake vigorously on medium to large bumps.

They will help save fuel in the city and outside the city.

Economical at any speed. Good skid braking on dry pavement, medium

With ABS, braking is weak both on dry and wet roads.

However, they stop better with skidding: good in the dry, satisfactory in the wet.

The set course is kept well. But delayed reactions, an empty, uninformative steering wheel and unpleasant steering of the rear axle interfere with correcting the direction.

It is not recommended to maneuver sharply. On a dry road, such actions are complicated by the car's sluggish reaction to the steering wheel, very large steering angles and low information content. In addition, the speed of successful extreme maneuvers is average, limited by a sharp and deep skid.

On wet roads, the maximum maneuvering speed is low, comparable to that obtained on the Matador.

Management is complicated by the fact that the car begins to lose traction even at the beginning of the maneuver, significantly straightening the trajectory, and the skid at the exit becomes progressive, moreover, with an unpleasantly sharp recovery of traction.

Not the quietest: they voice the change of coverage, changing the tone of “singing”.

Good skid braking on dry pavement, medium on wet pavement, high smoothness, satisfactory noise.

Weak braking qualities with ABS on any road, problematic handling when performing extreme maneuvers on wet surfaces, difficult on dry surfaces, average directional stability, low level of comfort.

At high speed, the car goes smoothly, without comment. Nice tight steering wheel with a clear, well-understood "zero".

On a dry road, sharp maneuvering does not bring surprises.

Soft drift in the limit, small steering angles, good information content make the car's behavior understandable and predictable.

On wet pavement, the speed of successful maneuvering is significantly reduced.

Behavior is also changing. The steering angles are growing, the information content is deteriorating. Deep drift in the limit requires timely adjustment. They hum and rumble, especially loudly in the speed range from 40 to 70 km / h.

They close the group of tires with weak braking properties. With ABS, they slow down badly both on dry roads and on wet ones. However, in braking on skids, they are comparable to Contyre: good on dry and average on wet surfaces.

They clearly keep the set course, without delay they react to the adjustment. A clear, understandable "zero" and high information content of the steering wheel contribute to a good understanding of the car.

On a dry road, the rearrangement speed is average, limited to a small skid. The steering angles are slightly more than average, the information content is good.

On wet roads, the speed is noticeably reduced, and the behavior deteriorates. The skid becomes deep, with reverse shooting when traction is restored.

Performing a complex maneuver, you have to turn the steering wheel ahead of the curve.

Comfort without comment. Roll with a modest, non-irritating rustle, well absorb any bumps.

With ABS, braking on a dry surface is good, on a wet one - acceptable.

Yuz on a dry road stop well, and on a wet road it is the best, except for the Nordman. The braking distance is shorter than that of the outsider, by more than 5 m!

At high speed, the car is carried smoothly, without deviations. Direction correction is easy with clear, immediate responses.

The speed at the rearrangement is limited by entry drift rather than exit skid.

Wet surfaces are reacted with a decrease in speed to medium and a deterioration in behavior. At the limit, a deep protracted skid occurs. It is not easy to cope with it, despite the precise steering, good reactions and good information content.

They cannot boast of comfort. The noise is not annoying, although in the speed range from 40 to 70 km / h it is quite loud. On small and medium-sized bumps, itching and unpleasantly shaking the car.

ABS braking is good on dry pavement and average on wet pavement. Skidding on dry pavement is the best, the separation from the outsider is more than 6 m. On wet surfaces - the third place in the test. Not bad!

Sharp maneuvers on dry pavement are successful even at high speeds.

On wet surfaces, the speed of extreme maneuvers is significantly reduced. It is limited by a smooth, increasing drift and an inert steering wheel with an abrupt change in resistance with an increase in the angle of rotation.

The rolling noise cannot be called loud, but the change in tone depending on the coating is annoying.

Best skid braking on dry pavement, good skidding on wet pavement and with ABS on dry pavement, highly economical; stable controllability.

Braking with ABS on wet roads is worse than average.

Braking with ABS on dry roads is record short, the difference with the worst result exceeds 6 m.

But on wet pavement they slide into the middle peasants.

For skid braking, the layout practically does not change.

The trajectory at high speed is kept without comment, but a wide “zero” and small delays interfere with the adjustment.

In a rearrangement on a dry road, they show a record result: soft, speed-limiting skidding to the limit, clear reactions and good information content. But on wet roads, the speed drops significantly with a sharp lane change. The pace limits the deep skid with a kickback when traction is restored.

They make almost no noise, but there are comments on the smoothness of the ride.

Better braking with ABS on dry pavement, good skidding, economical at 60 km/h, good handling during extreme maneuvers on dry pavement, low noise level.

Average braking properties on wet roads, difficult handling during sharp maneuvering on wet surfaces.

On a dry road, braking with ABS is good, on a wet road - so-so. When braking with skidding, the behavior is similar.

They keep a straight line at high speed, but with a smooth lane change they are annoyed by delays in reactions and insufficient information content.

Extreme maneuvering speed on dry road is the best. A fly in the ointment is a skid in the limit, requiring timely adjustment.

On wet roads, the speed naturally decreases.

Better skid braking on wet roads, good with ABS; low fuel consumption, stable handling, a good level of comfort.

Braking with ABS on dry pavement is good.

On wet surfaces, the result is leading, and by a wide margin: from the best rival - 1.3 m, from the worst - 7.8 m!

The results of skid braking on dry land are in the leading group, and on wet surfaces they are generally record-breaking.

Movement in a straight line and soft rebuilding - without comment.

The speed during a sharp lane change on a dry road is the highest. In the limit, a soft transition into a skid and the same soft recovery of adhesion.

On a wet road, the speed remains unchanged, the behavior changes only in nuances. The skid becomes even softer, but in the initial stage of the turn there is a slight hint of drift - the understeer shifts a little to neutral.

Better braking with ABS, good skid braking, low fuel consumption, stable, reliable handling when performing sharp maneuvers on any road, low noise level.

Minor remarks on the smoothness of the ride.

IRON INTERMEDIARY

During tire tests, we also indirectly check the rims. The load and intensity of operation they have is serious - mounting and dismantling of tires several times a year. And the “take-off” technique is performed on average more than once a month (about 15 operations during the year), and at different temperatures - from summer heat to bitter frosts. That is why we use only high quality products.

For 15 years of tire testing, K&K, Proma, RW and Vikom wheels have passed through our hands. All products worked almost flawlessly.

Today, the LS brand is gaining momentum in the domestic market. Its wheels look high quality, like a beautiful import, they are quite light, and the price is quite democratic. Offering a choice of designs to suit every taste (more than 200 options) and a wide range of sizes, these wheels are suitable for a variety of cars - from budget "lads" to expensive foreign cars and SUVs. Now they are in our arsenal.

We express our gratitude to the tire manufacturing companies,

who submitted their products for testing,

as well as to the employees of the AVTOVAZ test site and the Togliatti company Volgashintorg for technical support. Anton ANANEV, Vadim KORABLEV, Yuri KUROCHKIN, Evgeny LARIN, Anton MISHIN, Andrey OBRAZUMOV, Valery PAVLOV and Dmitry TESTOV helped Sergei Mishin in testing tires.

Winter will be over soon, it's time to think about summer tires.

Below in the article we will consider the top ten best summer tires.

Experts conducted tests and ranked the top 10 most best summer tires 2013 year, which we will introduce you to in this article. The car tires described below are representatives of different price categories, however, each of the models provides a comfortable and safe driving experience. For each participant in the rating, the approximate price for size 205/55R16 is given.

10th place - Barum Bravuris 2

The price for 1 tire is 5,000 rubles. The tires feature an asymmetrical projector pattern. The composition of the material includes silicon, which optimizes the behavior of the car on wet roads, and also reduces rolling resistance. Compared to the previous model, the new summer tires Reduce braking distance on wet pavement by 5 percent and improve handling performance by 4 percent.

9th place - Federal SS595.

Price - 3,000 rubles. V-shaped pattern provides precise control and maximum grip in all conditions. And in general, Federal is one of the best brands in the budget segment.

8th place - Yokohama AC02 C.

Price - 4,000 rubles. Orange oil is added to the rubber compound to improve environmental performance and grip levels. Tires guarantee excellent handling of the machine and are characterized by low noise levels.

7th place - Pirelli Cinturato P1

Price - 4,000 rubles. According to the manufacturer, compared with the company's old models, the new tires reduce noise levels by 30% and fuel consumption by 4%.

6th place - Michelin Energy Saver.

The price is less than 4,000 rubles. According to TÜV SÜD Automotive tests, these tires will last an average of 10,000 kilometers more than most of their class brethren. They also have some of the best rolling resistance of any tire on our list.

Their price is about 4,000 rubles for 1 tire. Compared to the predecessor model, the new tire version has reduced rolling resistance. The new anti-noise wall and wall tread pattern make driving comfortable and as safe as possible.

4th place - Kumho Solus KH17.

Price - 3.5 thousand rubles. These comfort-class summer tires offer low noise levels, good grip and excellent handling. It is worth noting the excellent fuel efficiency of this tire model.

3rd place - Toyo Proxes CF1.

Price - 4,000 rubles. This model closes the top three in the ranking of the top 10 most best summer tires 2013, replacing the tires TOYO R610. Tires with an asymmetric tread pattern outperform the previous model in terms of comfort, noise and handling precision.

2nd place - Nokian Hakka Green.

Price - 3.5 thousand rubles. The word "Green", included in the name of the tires, testifies to their high safety in terms of ecology. Moreover, experts note the absence of the effect of "melting", low rolling resistance and a high level of grip.

The best summer tires of 2013 are the Michelin Energy XM2.

Price - 5,000 rubles. The manufacturer describes this model as ideal for countries with poor roads. Tires are characterized by low rolling resistance and increased durability. The unique sidewall design allows them to overcome road pits and curbs without loss. The Michelin Energy XM2 lasts 20 percent longer than the previous model.

The most demanded size in this segment is 215/65R16. Such shoes are worn by the Chevy Niva, popular among the people, and the rather expensive Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Renault Duster bestseller - we used it as a carrier. Realizing that most of the time crossovers iron the asphalt, they limited themselves to comparing competitors only in these conditions, leaving the primer as an optional extra - outside the offset.

The Nokian tire, the Hakka Sport Utility model, got to the head of the column with 936 points. The leader has the highest rearrangement speed among the test participants. The cost is not at all a record - 5000 rubles, this provides a completely democratic value for money: 5.3.

The Michelin Latitude Diamaris is noticeably more expensive, scoring 926 points and taking the vice-championship position. We consider this tire the most balanced and devoid of shortcomings. The exception is the price: it is the highest. Therefore, the price / quality indicator is appropriate - 6.3.

On the bottom step of the podium is Pirelli (model Scorpion Verde), losing only a point to Michelin in the overall standings. Due to a much more modest price, the price / quality ratio of 5.3 is the most attractive in the leading group.

The first trinity is slightly behind the "Continental", represented by the ContiCrossContact UHP model. It came close to the 900 mark (898 to be exact) that separates great tires from just good ones. These wheels are expensive (5700 rubles), and therefore, in terms of price / quality (6.3), they compete with Michelin.

Rounding out the top 5 with 886 is Hancook's Dynapro HP, which is constantly improving its performance. In terms of price / quality (5.0), the tire managed to catch up with Pirelli. At the same time, she, albeit only by one, beat Bridgestone's Dueler H / P Sport, which scored 885 points. According to the characteristics determined during our test, Hankook and Bridgestone can be safely called twins: these tires differ in nuances that only high-precision equipment can capture. The only noticeable difference is the price. And if so, why pay more? 5.0 versus 5.9, there is no doubt which purchase is more profitable.

Viatti with the Bosco A / T model got to the seventh line - 868 points at a price of 3700 rubles. give a price / quality ratio of 4.3.

A very profitable purchase, although domestic competitors have a price / quality ratio of less than 4.

Eighth place with 866 points goes to "Goodyear" (model Efficient-Grip SUV) with an exorbitant price. The highest speed index (240 km / h) could serve as a partial justification - but where in Russia can you drive so fast? Unless it warms the soul. In terms of price / quality (5.9), we will include Bridgestone and Yokohama among the same “shower warmers”.

By the way, the latter, having gained 842 points, lagged behind the main competitor, Bridgestone, by more than 40 points and took only ninth place.

Literally on the heels of her comes the domestic "Amtel" with the Cruise 4 × 4 model. He is a little slower than the bulk of the participants, his maximum speed is “only” 190 km / h, but this did not stop him from scoring 841 points and taking the tenth line. In terms of price / quality (3.6) - the most profitable purchase.

Very close to it - All Terrain ("Cordiant") with a semi-all-terrain tread. For such a tire, 834 points and eleventh place in a dispute with asphalt colleagues is a very worthy result.

The twelfth place, quite unexpectedly for us, was taken by the "Japanese" "Dunlop" - the Grandtrek PT2 model, which was able to score some 804 points. It seems that the lowest speed index (180 km / h) has nothing to do with it. But the rough Russian asphalt is clearly not to her liking. In terms of price and quality ratio (5.5), this sissy is located in the middle between the Nokian, Pirelli, Hankook tires on the one hand and Bridgestone, Yokohama, Goodyear on the other.

WORD AND DEED

Tires for all-terrain vehicles, unlike ordinary cars, work in more difficult road and off-road conditions. Their features are not only in specific dimensions and increased load capacity. They are structurally stronger due to a more powerful frame and reinforced shoulders and sidewalls. Sometimes such tires are marked with the abbreviation SUV, more often with a destination code. Here are the most common (but not mandatory) categories.

M/T (MT) - Mud Terrain- tires with a toothy tread for mud. As a rule, such tires are not recommended to drive on asphalt. Here they are noisier than purely asphalt counterparts. Coupling properties are low, because due to the wide grooves, the contact area of rubber with asphalt is minimal. Yes, they wear out quickly.

A/T (AT) - All Terrain- universal tires that combine increased cross-country ability with satisfactory behavior on asphalt. However, on hard roads they exhibit the same disadvantages as the M/T, but to a lesser extent.

H/T (HT) - Highway (Terrain)- road tires for paved roads. More comfortable than the previous two categories, with better traction on asphalt. Naturally, they are inferior in cross-country ability to A / T and, to an even greater extent, to M / T.

S/T (ST) - Sport (Terrain)- as a rule, they differ from the H / T category by a higher speed index. The tread pattern is even less aggressive and does not involve driving on primers. If you are not going to drive, it makes no sense to overpay for them.

On sale there are passenger (PC - Passenger Car) tires of the same dimension as the SUV. They can be used instead of all-terrain vehicles, provided that the speed and load indexes are correctly selected, but if you drive only on flat roads. You will have to forget about curbs, ruts, pits and other obstacles that load and strain the sidewalls.

215/65R16 SUV SUMMER TIRE RANKING: BY LOCATION

12th place. Dunlop Grandtrek PT2 98S

Place of manufacture Japan

Tread depth 7.1-7.4mm

Shore hardness 61 units.

Tire weight 10.7 kg

Price/quality 5.5

The weakest braking on dry and wet surfaces. The leader of the exercise loses 7.5 m on a wet road and 7 m on a dry one.

At high speeds, they are affected by crosswinds. Correction of the direction is complicated - a blurry "zero", a significant delay in reactions. You should not even think about sharp maneuvers, they succeed only at the lowest speed. The car suddenly breaks into a slip, and early, at a speed of about 60 km / h.

On a wet road, there is a strong drift at the entrance and a skid at the exit, and again at a low speed.

Comfort sucked. Loud noise from 20 to 65 km / h. Early start squealing in corners and when braking. They transmit shocks from convex irregularities.

They roll best of all: at a speed of 60 km / h it is inaccessible to the rest, at 90 km / h - in the leading group.

Lowest fuel consumption, satisfactory ride.

Extremely weak braking on dry and wet surfaces, problematic handling during extreme maneuvers on wet surfaces, difficult behavior at high speed and handling on dry roads during extreme maneuvers, noisy.

Shore hardness 64 units.

Tire weight 11.9 kg

The average price in online stores is 3100 rubles.

Price/quality 3.7

This universal tire with a toothy tread has naturally weak braking, although it is better than that of the “asphalt” Dunlop: on a wet road, the braking distance is 3 m shorter.

At speed, drive the car slightly from side to side, without requiring steering. An attempt to gently change the lane causes a sluggish reaction, and then a sharp skid of the rear axle.

The speed at the rearrangement is average, the handling is difficult. Large steering angles and a sharp skid at the exit. On wet pavement, drift at the entrance and skid at the exit, lack of information on the steering wheel.

They buzz loudly with a toothy tread, especially in the speed range of 45–80 km / h. They shudder on medium bumps. Rolling resistance is increased at any speed, in this they are on a par with Amtel.

High cross-country ability, speed at the rearrangement is average, satisfactory smoothness.

Weak braking on dry and wet surfaces, increased fuel consumption, difficult directional stability and handling during sudden lane changes, noisy.

Price/quality 3.6

Dry and wet braking is average.

On a straight line, the car floats slightly from side to side. Direction correction is complicated by increased steering angles and delayed responses. The speed at the rearrangement is average. In dry conditions, it is problematic: large steering angles and a strong roll contribute to a sharp, unpredictable skid. In the wet, a little better, but the behavior remains difficult due to the large steering angles, coupled with a complete lack of information content.

They make a loud noise from 25 to 65 km / h. They make the car wobble on medium bumps.

Rolling resistance is above average at any speed.

Average braking, satisfactory noise level, good cross-country ability.

Tread depth 8.0-8.4 mm

Shore hardness 66 units.

Tire weight 11.1 kg

The average price in online stores is 5000 rubles.

Price/quality 5.9

Braking is weak: results on dry and wet roads are comparable to those shown by the more off-road Cordiant. Driving at high speed is smooth, but reactions to direction corrections are thoughtful.

The speed of performing extreme maneuvers is low. Handling is difficult - an unexpected breakdown in slip leads to a departure from the trajectory. Smooth steering wheel action is preferable. On wet surfaces, the speed is limited by a strong, progressive skid.

They buzz loudest at a speed of 40-45 km / h. Strongly push the car on average roughnesses.

Rolling resistance is low at any speed.

Economical at any speed, high speed behavior and comfort level are satisfactory, good cross-country ability.

Braking is average on dry and wet surfaces. At high speed, they make the car walk a little, however, within the lane.

When adjusting, a slight steering of the rear axle was noted. The speed at the rearrangement is average. Low informative steering, shooting skid at the exit. On a wet surface, steering of the rear axle, turning into a sharp deep skid.

The comfort is satisfactory. They transmit large irregularities to the body, slightly itch on small ones. Sound road junctions and change of coverage. Rolling resistance increased at 90 km/h and average at 60 km/h.

Braking is average.

Increased fuel consumption at 90 km / h, difficult handling on wet roads.

866 points

They show their best qualities in suburban modes, do not give up on the primer.

Shore hardness 74 units.

Tire weight 11.4 kg

The average price in online stores is 3700 rubles.

Price/quality 4.3

Braking is average on both dry and wet surfaces. They seem to be rolling the car evenly, but with soft changes they noticeably lag, then sharply, as if from a slingshot, they shoot to the side.

The speed at the rearrangement is above average, - the tires seem to have been created specifically for the Duster. On a dry road, the reactions are slightly delayed, on a wet road - a slight passive skid that does not require compensation.

The hum peaks at about 45 km/h. On small irregularities, the door upholstery and the instrument panel are forced to “talk”. Rigidly push the body on medium and large irregularities.

Rolling resistance is average at all speeds.

High speed during extreme maneuvers, stable behavior during extreme maneuvers on dry and wet surfaces.

Exchange rate stability leaves much to be desired, rigid.

Braking is slightly better than average in the wet, close to average in the dry. At high speed, move the machine slightly away from the intended direction under the influence of a slight transverse slope or side wind.

The speed when performing the rearrangement is average. Fast steering causes a sharp skid, smooth - thruster steering of the rear axle. On wet surfaces, the speed is limited by a sharp skid. The driver is hindered by increased steering angles.

Quite loudly buzzing in the range of 30-60 km / h. They push the car on medium bumps, large and small damp well.

Rolling resistance is average at any speed.

Stable in all respects.

Minor remarks about directional stability, handling and comfort.

They brake well on dry surfaces (fourth result) and excellent on wet ones. The palm of leadership in braking gave way to Pirelli. At high speed, the movement is smooth, without deviations. A clear "zero" and high information content help with gentle maneuvering.

Transfer speed is average. On a dry road, the reaction is good, but when the steering wheel is shifted, the information content decreases. Sharp, deep skid at the exit. If you do not have time to pay it off, the car is thrown out of the second corridor. On a wet surface, the same remarks - skidding. But not as sharp as on dry land.

Comfortable. The general noise background is increased, but the irregularities are not voiced. Shocks and vibrations are transmitted from all road bumps.

Rolling resistance is low at all speeds.

Excellent braking in the wet, good in the dry, low fuel consumption, a clear course at high speed.

Difficult handling during extreme maneuvers on dry roads, tough.

Braking is the best: they beat Continental, which usually leads in these disciplines, and the outsider of the exercises is "carried" by one and a half car bodies - 7.3 m on a dry road and 7.6 m on a wet one. The course is kept clear. Good response to direction correction. High speed of rearrangement on a dry road, on a wet one - medium. When driving on dry land, the speed is limited to a small, easily corrected skid.

On a wet road, large steering angles and a decrease in information content on the shift were noted. Speed limits smooth and soft drift.

Comfort is almost like that of the "Continental": rustling rustling, deaf sounding of irregularities. Shocks and vibrations from road bumps. Rolling resistance is average at any speed.

Better braking on dry and wet roads, a clear course at high speed, clear handling during extreme maneuvering on dry roads.

Tough, minor remarks on wet handling.

925 points

Dry braking is good, even better than the Continental. On wet - in the first four. At high speed carry the car smoothly. A clear "zero", good reactions and small steering angles help in soft maneuvers.

High transfer speed. Behavior is clear, handling without complaints. On a dry road, the clearest reactions and the best information content. On wet surfaces, the speed is limited to a slight skid, which is easily stabilized.

The best in terms of comfort. Softly pass any irregularities. Quiet, only slightly phony on coarse-grained and rough pavement.

Good braking, economical at 60 km / h, stable handling and directional stability, high level of comfort, good cross-country ability.

No deficiencies noted.

926 points

Tires for all occasions: stable in any conditions on different roads, will not let you down on the primer.

About sources and test methods

Tires of different categories, purposes and sizes took part in the tests of summer tires for the 2013 season. This year, in addition to the usual sources (Autoreview newspaper and Za Rulem magazine), the [email protected] website has also been added, which, relying on the expert base and the results of the analysis of the German automobile club ADAC, published its material on the assessment of summer tires in size 185/60 R15. In addition, along with the above, we will additionally consider the results of control measurements of the behavior of a car on tires of dimension 195/65 R15 of the German automotive magazine AutoBild. Now more detailed. Za Rulem magazine skated two sizes this year: the outdated 175/75 R13 and the very popular 185/60 R15, and the Autoreview newspaper tested crossover tires 215/65 R16 and high-speed sports-class tires designed for driving at speeds up to 300 km / h, but quite civilian size 225/45 R17.

Also in this review, we will analyze the results of the specialists of the Finnish test center Test World, who tested summer tires of dimension (205/55 R16). It is noteworthy that for many years the Autoreview newspaper used their data, but this season the newspaper did not use the material based on the results of Test World.

The ADAC club has almost half a century of experience in comparative testing of car tires, followed by an in-depth analysis of the data obtained. This year they tested tires from 19 manufacturers. All these tires are officially presented on the European market and perform in them in the lower and middle price range.

It is noteworthy that since the autumn of last year, new requirements for marking automobile rubber have been in force in the European Union. Each tire must be marked with the rolling resistance class, noise level, wet and dry behavior class of the tire. The requirements have become more serious. And since independent public organizations in Europe, together with specific states, are closely monitoring an honest and objective assessment, manufacturers have upgraded not only future, but also existing tire models. German experts from the ADAC club stated that the tires really got better that year. Moreover, some of the models have added quality very significantly. According to the ADAC club, the strongest summer tire of 2013 was the Michelin tire, which pushed the leader of the past years, the Continental tires, although their lag behind Michelin turned out to be minimal: they were only slightly inferior to the French tires in terms of resource, which, in principle, is subjective even in laboratory conditions. The tires Dunlop and Goodyear, brotherly to each other, showed themselves very well, which lagged behind the leaders by only half a step, which completely redeems the more democratic price tag. ADAC experts also considered balanced tires produced under the brands Vredestein, Bridgestone and Nokian. Slightly worse were the results of products under the brands Fulda and Semperit. Hankook, Firestone and Pirelli all performed satisfactorily, while tires made by Nexen, GT Radial, Kleber, Marangoni, Rotalla and Sailun failed the ADAC test.

The German publication AutoBild has tested fifty sets of summer tires in size 195/65 R15 this season. In addition, four models of all-season tires were additionally present in the test, but we will not consider them, since they are not applicable in our climate. The experts of the magazine arranged the test itself in two rounds. Fifteen models were awarded the second stage of testing, including summer tires of models: Bridgestone Turanza T001, Continental ContiPremiumContact 5, Dunlop Sport BluResponse Fulda EcoControl HP, Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance, Hankook Kinergy Eco K425, Kumho Solus KH17, Michelin Energy Saver+, Nokian Line, Pirelli Cinturato P1, Sava Intensa HP, Uniroyal RainExpert, Viking ProTech II, Vredestein Sportrac 5 and Yokohama C.Drive2 AC02.

Magazine "Behind the wheel"

Za Rulem magazine tested summer tires of two dimensions this year: 175/70 R13 (9 models), among which the winner was Amtel Planet 3 tires, and the losers were Capital-Sport tires. As a starting point in the 175/70 R13 dimension, Za Rulem magazine chose the time-tested Nordman SX tires, which were tested outside the standings and showed excellent results in all important disciplines.

The size 185/60 R14 is called by the experts of the magazine “Za Rulem” the most massive “format” of car tires in Russia. Nokian Hakka Green took the first place among fourteen-inch tires in the test cycle of the publication, and the little-known Contyre Megapolis tires came last.

Later, Za Rulem magazine published the results of testing summer tires for crossovers in the size 215/65 R16, which is identical to the SUV tire category that the Autoreview newspaper chose for the test. It is quite logical, because this is the most popular size among SUVs.

Usually the newspaper "Autoreview" in the test of car tires uses the results of the expert work of the independent Finnish testing center Test World. But a few years ago, along with the main material from Test World, Autoreview again began to publish the results of independent tests of car tires. This year, the Autoreview website does not have an article based on Test World materials, but two of its own tests have been published. One summer tire crossover dimension 215/65 R16, the other passenger car 225/45 R17.

The program of the first test included a wet braking cycle (at least six times), where the Pirelli tires were the best, and the Dunlop tires were the worst; hydroplaning resistance; imitation of a detour of an obstacle on a wet road; emergency braking and “rearrangement” on dry pavement, as well as an assessment of the level of comfort, rolling resistance, and, of course, cross-country ability.

As usual, when building our review, we use the results of the Finnish company Test World. In many ways, the list of measured values is comparable to last season: wet and dry behavior, handling, aquaplaning, rolling resistance...

Amtel Planet 3 - summer tires, test

MODEL FEATURES

The manufacturer claims that the Amtel Planet summer tire with a classic road pattern gives confident control over the car on both dry and wet road surfaces, providing reliability and comfort in all weather conditions.

With two solid center ribs combined with massive studded blocks, Amtel Planet tires deliver solid handling and improved roadholding. The directional V-shaped tread pattern most effectively removes water from the contact patch, and two rows of diamond-shaped checkers of different sizes and alternation of different-sized tread pattern steps prevent resonance and reduce noise generation.

TEST RESULTS

In the test of the magazine "Behind the Rulem", Amtel Planet 3 summer tires became the winners among tires with a dimension of 175/70 R13, but despite the leadership position, Amtel tires do not behave reliably in all disciplines. Braking on wet roads is not confident, although there are no problems on dry roads. On straight car tires, Amtel Planet 3 stands confidently, but when changing direction, the reactions are ambiguous, accompanied by delays. But the acoustic comfort of Amtel is at its best. In addition, Amtel Planet 3 summer tires are economical in operation. And yes, they are inexpensive.

Another modification of Amtel Planet tires - Amtel Planet T-301 participated in the "Behind the wheel" test in dimension 185/60 R14, where it took only eighth place. The reason is that many tires of foreign manufacturers of the first and second categories took part in this test, in contrast to the dimension 175/70 R13, where mainly Russian tires competed with Amtel tires. Therefore, in the test of the “senior” group, Amtel tires turned out to be weaker against the background of competitors. Braking on any surface is mediocre, but handling does not cause any comments. However, on this rubber it is especially important to control the speed. It is worth overdoing it, the car abruptly breaks into a slip. In addition, these tires turned out to be quite noisy, unlike the Amtel Planet 3.

BRIDGESTONE Turanza T001 – summer tires, test

MODEL FEATURES

The Bridgestone Turanza T001 is a premium summer travel tire that builds on the best of its predecessor, the Bridgestone ER300, and is even more reliable and agile, especially over long distances and at high speeds. The Bridgestone T001 delivers a luxurious driving experience with the perfect balance between comfort and handling.

The main features of the Bridgestone Turanza T001 tire is that it provides a low noise level, which is achieved thanks to the unique resonator grooves, the noise level is significantly reduced. The manufacturer also claims excellent wet handling, reduced rolling resistance, thanks to the use of Nano Pro-Tech technology, which improved tire performance on wet roads and reduced rolling resistance.

The Bridgestone Turanza T001 is also claimed to be durable and safe with: - A new angled shoulder that provides a flat contact patch, reducing uneven wear and extending tire life.

The innovative technologies used in the tread design provide maximum handling and safety on the road.

TEST RESULTS

Tires Bridgestone Turanza T001 were tested by the experts of the German magazine Auto Bild. The main strength of these tires, which was highlighted by the German testers, is balance. Both on wet and dry pavement, they performed well from all points of view. With these tires, the car brakes and handles well. The negative feature is the cost of operation. When buying these tires are very expensive, exactly as in operation. They have high wear and rolling resistance, and, consequently, fuel consumption.

Bridgestone Turanza T001 was tested by the ADAC club, the results of which are used by the Internet edition [email protected]. Tires of size 185/60 R15 participated in this test. The summary of the German specialists of the ADAC club was not much different from the results of their colleagues from the AutoBild magazine. The main automobile club in Germany used almost the same wording. The strength of these tires is balance.

The Finnish expert association Test World also got acquainted this season with the Bridgestone Turanza T001 tire. In Finland, Japanese tires took 11th place. Unlike their German colleagues, the Finns were disappointed in this model. First of all, a failure in wet disciplines (braking, handling). Yes, and on dry pavement, competitors turned out to be stronger. As a strength of the tire, Test World testers identified worthy resistance to aquaplaning.

BRIDGESTONE MY-02 Sporty Style – summer tires test

MODEL FEATURES

The BridgestoneMY-02 SportyStyle is an all-round sports tire with an attractive look and aggressive sporty design that reduces uneven wear and noise levels in city driving.

The manufacturer notes in its product -aggressive tread design saying that the design of the lightning grooves gives the tire an aggressive appearance, in addition, it provides improved water drainage and excellent traction.

The Bridgestone MY-02 SportyStyle has a low noise level due to the fact that the MY-02 has five randomly arranged shoulder blocks of different sizes of the tread, which helps to reduce the noise level.

Also, experts note a flat spot of contact between the tread and the road. It provides a constant contact patch width during vehicle operation, which reduces the deformation of the shoulder blocks during side sliding, and, as a result, reduces uneven wear and increases tire life.

TEST RESULTS

The Bridgestone MY-02 Sporty Style tires were tested by Za Rulem magazine in the 185/60 R14 category. In this test, the Japanese tires (although the test tires were made in Taiwan) finished in sixth place. For these tires, the coating is the determining factor. On a wet road, they give in, but on dry pavement they are rehabilitated. Bridgestone tires do not like high speeds. On them, communication with the car is lost more than on other rubber. Ride is not standard. But the acoustic comfort of the tires is acceptable.

Behind the wheel (185/60R14): 6th place

Dunlop Sport BluResponse summer tires test

MODEL FEATURES

So the manufacturer says about his offspring: "DunlopSport BluResponse deserves the best handling epithets", despite the environmental overtones and the corresponding fuel economy. The presence of polymers in the rubber compound allows you to quickly adapt to the road profile, significantly increasing the level of grip. Dunlop's slip threshold is higher; the speed of cornering on wet surfaces is frankly impressive and allows you to feel the rigidity of the shoulder area on the steering wheel.

At the product launch stage, the developers conducted various tests, including the union of independent experts TUV SUD Automotive. Back then, across seven disciplines, Dunlop's Sport BluResponse tires outperformed the competition in most key factors. The braking distance on wet surfaces is three meters shorter than the average tire of other manufacturers, and the grip coefficient is 3% higher than the average result of the test participants. These impressive benefits are complemented by the BA label from the European Attestation Board for exemplary rolling resistance, wet grip and acoustic comfort.

Dunlop Sport BluResponse has been present in the official European dealer network since the beginning of 2013.

TEST RESULTS

The Dunlop Sport BluResponse tire, along with the Continental, is an important model for the European market. In this regard, she, like the tires of the German brand, has been tested by a wide range of publications in Europe. Nokian Hakka Black – summer tires test

MODEL FEATURES

The Nokian Hakka Black sports tire is a next-generation professional for demanding driving, thanks to the tread compound, multilayer construction, nanotechnology and a tread designed for high-speed driving. The tire immediately responds to steering, which is a necessary condition when driving within safety limits.

For Nokian Hakka Black, a new tread compound NordicIntelligentUHPSilica has been developed, designed for intensive use at high speeds. The rubber compound, which performs well in a wide range of temperatures, improves grip on wet surfaces, both on fresh spring mornings and on cool autumn evenings. Road contact and steering feel is perfect and predictable in all conditions.

The modern Nokian Hakka Black tread design enhances the precise handling of this performance tire. The tread of the model, like that of other relatives from the Hakka family, has an asymmetric pattern. Powerful outer and inner shoulder zones are united by blocks, which are interconnected by longitudinal ribs. Massive wide ribs strengthen the tire and reduce the vibrations of the checkered blocks when they touch the road.

The action of the longitudinal ribs of Nokian Hakka Black, located next to the inner shoulder areas, is enhanced by deep oblique grooves that stabilize the behavior of the tire. At the same time, this innovation, called Hydro-Grooves, effectively prevents the tire from hydroplaning by removing water from the contact patch and directing it into the longitudinal grooves. The innovation ensures safe driving in rainy weather. Also protected from the danger of aquaplaning are high-speed lateral grooves formed transversely to the main grooves in the outer shoulder area.

The comfort of the Nokian Hakka Black tire when driving is increased by hemispherical cavities in the walls of the longitudinal ribs of the tread, which in their appearance resemble depressions on the surface of a golf ball. The innovation is called SilentGrooveDesign, it reduces air turbulence, which limits the appearance of noise outside and inside the cabin while driving.

According to the manufacturer, the strong and durable Nokian Hakka Black also confidently passes roads in poor condition. For added safety, the tire has been updated with a disc guard that protects the bead area from damage.

On the Nokian Hakka Black tread, you can find the patented tread wear indicator, familiar to Nokian Tires products, showing the remaining groove depth (DSI - Driving Safety Indicator). An innovation in the latest model is the ease of use of the indicator. On the sidewall of the tire, there is a stylish Hakka ID logo, which indicates that Nokian Hakka Black has been developed with the conditions on the harsh northern roads in mind.

TEST RESULTS

Tires from Nokian have been ranked highly in all authoritative publications in recent years. Tires Nokian Hakka Black are the novelty of the season. She showed herself well. The only disadvantage of these tires, which was noted by the experts of Autoreview, is their low hydroplaning resistance. In other situations, these tires do well. However, in the overall standings, only the eighth place out of nine possible.

Vredestein Sportrac 5 - summer tires test

MODEL FEATURES

Vredestein Sportrac 5 tires designed for summer use with a road tread pattern. Tires have an asymmetric tread pattern, which consists of two parts with a different pattern, hence it takes its name. It combines rain and regular tire patterns in an attempt to get the best of both. This tire tread pattern provides improved driving performance and is superior to the symmetrical one in almost all respects. The main feature when using tires with an asymmetric tread pattern is the fact that they require a special installation - they have an inside and outside. Thus, such tires should always be installed with one side towards the car and the other out. The manufacturer marks the sides, which facilitates the installation process. The designations may vary slightly: Outside / Side facing outwards / External - indicate that this part of the tire (sidewall) should look outward.

TEST RESULTS

The Vredestein Sportrac 5 tires lit up in every European test we review. Moreover, they performed quite well everywhere, and in some disciplines they even pulled ahead, even despite the fact that this model is not of the highest rank. As a result, 5th place. We are in solidarity with Test World and ADAC, and AutoBild - these tires also took fifth place in them.

Yokohama C.Drive2 AC02 summer tires test

MODEL FEATURES

Yokohama C.Drive2 AC02 is a High Performance summer tire for passenger cars. This model is conceptually different from the previous Yokohama C.drive AC01 released 6 years ago. The clear advantages of this tire lie in the combination of excellent grip and of course handling. Driving on wet asphalt is no problem for the novelty, because the new asymmetric tread pattern is aimed at achieving high performance. Four longitudinal grooves serve as excellent hydroplaning protection, removing water from under the contact patch. Straight stabilizing ribs and ornamental tread grooves allow you to demonstrate excellent dynamic properties in any weather. During the passage of turns, this model is quite predictable, and does not cause any discomfort.

While designing the Yokohama C.drive2 AC02, the emphasis was on driving performance, but also on the flourishing trend towards lower fuel consumption. Such innovations were made possible by a modified structure of the rubber compound, which reduced rolling resistance. Yokohama C.drive2 AC02 meets all EU safety requirements.

TEST RESULTS

The Japanese tire Yokohama C.drive2 AC02 became the hero of the test of the magazine "Behind the wheel" and the publication of AutoBild. These tires turned out to be solid mid-range tires, which was revealed by the test of Russian journalists. However, this did not stop the German experts from classifying the Japanese tire as “recommended”. As a disadvantage of the model, the Germans noticed only understeer on wet roads.

Such characteristics are achieved thanks to a special tread pattern, which includes elements borrowed from heavy-duty off-road tire designs.

On good asphalt surfaces, the Continental ContiCross Contact LX tire also demonstrates excellent handling performance. Special blocks arranged around the entire circumference of the tread in a specific sequence calculated by the computer, together with large sipes, make this tire the best in its class in terms of handling characteristics, as well as providing a very quiet rolling.

The Continental ContiCrossContact LX tires are primarily designed for paved roads (80%), but light off-road use is also possible (20%).

TEST RESULTS

Summer tires Continental CrossContact LX - a model with an off-road bias. As expected, Continental tires are an excellent product and the test of Autoreview experts confirmed this. Confident behavior on wet and dry pavement. At the same time, quite convincing off-road abilities. The comfort of these tires is also not in last place! Continental CrossContact LX ride quietly and smoothly. Right choice!

Pirelli Scorpion Verde - summer tires for crossovers, test

MODEL FEATURES

ZR experts noted the best braking on dry pavement and good directional stability. AP experts - traction properties in all asphalt disciplines, recognizing them as the safest in the test. However, as a minus, the Autoreview newspaper singled out no cross-country ability, which is important for a certain part of crossover owners. In "Behind the wheel" they found other shortcomings, first of all, behavior on wet pavement.

Driving (215/65R16): 3rd place
