The engine is an improved version of the 11183 engine, it significantly reduces the weight of the connecting rod and piston group. Thirty-nine percent - the engineers from Togliatti did their best. The new version of this type of engine is better, for example, with the latest camshaft drive, as well as a metal cylinder head gasket, and finally, an improved block conditioning system. The main advantage of the latest engine model is also the mandatory heat treatment for the cylinder head. So the parts become stronger and more enduring.

All front-wheel drive models of Lada cars have an electric throttle actuator in the engine. This engineering upgrade added another ten to the amount of horsepower of the motor. And now the motor has become ninety-horsepower. And due to the fact that the number of mechanical losses was reduced, the engine torque also increased by 20 units. But it will be possible to achieve it already at 3800 rpm. Fuel consumption has also been greatly reduced - which has affected the increased environmental friendliness of the car. Less carbon dioxide emissions into the air.

Manufacturers assure buyers that before the first overhaul, the car will travel at least 200 thousand kilometers. It should also serve the same amount paired with a new engine model.

For the configuration "Lux" there is a motor 21126

1.6 liters and almost a hundred horsepower - these are the characteristics of this engine. This was the second engine for Lada Kalina 2. It is available only for the "richest" versions of the car's configuration. Here, too, the connecting rod and piston group, as well as valve hydraulic pushers, were lightened. And there will be neither few nor many of them - four pieces for each cylinder. In the new engine model, as in the previous one, there is a so-called "gates" belt. The guarantee for such a belt is 120 thousand kilometers of the roadway. Basically, all 200 thousand are subject to his resource. Such a belt was tested with great success on the Lada Priora model.

Updated prioromotor with index 21127

Togliatti decided to update the existing 21126 engine and add a little fire to it - now Kalina 2 with such a “heart” will have a power of 106 horsepower, with a maximum torque of 150 N * m. This was achieved by adding a different intake mode - at low speeds, air passes through a long channel, at high speeds - through a short one. Also, the engine has a new absolute pressure sensor and updated software.

True, as elsewhere, there are some drawbacks - during the timing belt breaks, the valves are crumpled and the connecting rod-piston group of parts suffers.

A new car - a new power unit. It is quite logical that with the release of the new Kalina, AVTOVAZ decided to introduce a new engine. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, but let's talk about all the engines that will equip the new station wagons and hatchbacks of the second generation. Engine 21126.

This is the only engine that will be installed on Lada Kalina 2 without modifications. The Priorovsky motor, as before, will produce 98 hp. and 145Nm of torque. Detailed technical characteristics of this engine have already been repeatedly described on the Internet, and therefore we will not repeat ourselves. Let's note only one thing - AVTOVAZ plans to install automatic transmission on Kalina only in tandem with this engine. Recall that the same is true for Lada Grant cars.

As you know, because of the other ShPG, the engine became "plug-in", i.e. when the timing belt breaks, the pistons meet the valves and the latter bend, which subsequently requires expensive repairs. In order to somehow reduce this drawback, the manufacturer changed the timing drive system. Now it has an automatic tensioner and a belt with a resource increased to 120 thousand km.

Engine 21116.

This power unit is the result of a deep modernization of the engine of the first Kalina 11183. The new engine is timed not only for the release of Grant and Kalina 2 cars, but also for the transition to environmental standards of the Euro-4 standard.

The cylinder block of the new engine exactly matches that of 21126 despite its new index. However, there are still differences. This is due to the fact that it is more difficult to organize a workflow in an 8-valve engine. In addition, a resource increased to 200 thousand km is also presented for the new motor, in contrast to 160 thousand km on the 126th.

The intake system migrated here from the 11183-50 engine without changes. This is a plastic receiver with electronic throttle.

Due to the longer intake channels, it was possible to shift the point of maximum torque by 700-800 rpm lower on the VSH. Thanks to this, the characteristic is close to that of a 16-valve engine. Throttle - only electric. Thanks to this, it is possible to fully comply with environmental standards. In addition, with the advent of additional options, such as the stability control system for Lada Kalina 2, the controller simply cannot do without this node in order to control the vehicle's traction.

Let's talk a little about the new connecting rod and piston group. A 39% weight reduction was achieved through the use of new rods, connecting rods and other elements. The photo below illustrates this clearly.

Due to the increased temperature loads on the piston 8-cl. engine introduced additional anodizing in the area of ​​the first ring. Another innovation of the 21116 pistons is a graphite coating on the skirt, which should eliminate possible scuffing during a cold start of the engine.
