What is the latest iPhone model released. Apple unveiled three new iPhones

Almost everything is known about the new iPhone XS!

The main novelties of the upcoming presentation of Apple, of course, will be the new iPhone. Just over the past week, almost everything has become known about the latest iPhone XS with 5.8- and 6.5-inch displays. The exact specifications, unique features, and even the official Apple-approved design of the smartphones were revealed. We have collected all the reliably known information about the iPhone XS in one article - smartphones are really declassified. And they are great! Especially considering the seriously reduced price. iPhone XS presentation date - September 12, 2018

Note: We will regularly update this material about the iPhone XS as new reliable leaks appear until the official presentation of the smartphone. However, almost everything is known about the iPhone XS, even the final and official design.

Until August 30, 2018, it was customary to call the new iPhones iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Plus, but, nevertheless, analysts did not know exactly how Apple would name its new smartphones. However, on August 30, there was the largest leak in the history of Apple.

The company accidentally left official images of the new iPhone and Apple Watch Series 4 on its website. Along with the pictures were the names of the devices. The discovery was made by the famous developer Guilherme Rambo, who declassified the exact name of the new Apple smartphones of the 2018 model.

Apple will call both new flagship smartphones iPhone XS. Yes, both the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch 2018 iPhones will have the same name. For the first time, Apple decided to drop the "Plus" prefix in the name of a major version of a smartphone.

  • 2014: iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
  • 2015: iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
  • 2016: iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
  • 2017: iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X.
  • 2018: iPhone XS.

Getting rid of the “Plus” prefix will not greatly affect the ease of distinguishing models from each other. Apple and users will refer to the smartphones as 5.8-inch iPhone XS and 6.5-inch iPhone XS.

Apple uses a similar naming in the case of the iPad Pro and MacBook. Users of these devices do not experience problems with the names, so there should be no problems with the iPhone XS.

Throughout 2018, there have been numerous leaks showing the design of the iPhone XS. However, all of them were overshadowed by a leak from the official Apple website, which we described above. Thanks to her, the official image of the iPhone XS appeared on the Internet. Here it is:

It is important to note that the above image is not a mockup or concept. The illustration was created by Apple itself for the upcoming presentation. That is, this is exactly what the new 5.8- and 6.5-inch iPhone XS will look like.

Now more. The 5.8-inch iPhone XS will look almost the same as its predecessor, the iPhone X. The smartphone will receive the same glass case and connecting frame made of stainless surgical steel. The shape of the 5.8-inch iPhone XS will remain unchanged from the iPhone X. The dimensions of the new smartphone will be 143.6 × 70.9 × 7.7 mm (identical to the iPhone X). If there are any changes in the dimensions of the model, then they are completely insignificant.

The front surface of the iPhone XS is almost completely covered by a 5.8-inch OLED display with minimal bezels. The top frame, like the iPhone X, will be cut off on the sides. According to some leaks, the bezels around the iPhone XS display may be reduced, but barely noticeable. On the back of the iPhone XS, we will see the same vertical dual camera with flash.

The 6.5-inch iPhone XS will get an identical design - tempered glass panels, a surgical steel connecting frame, a bezel-less full-screen display with a “monobrow” and a dual vertical camera. However, the 6.5-inch model will surprise, quite obviously, with its size.

The 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be Apple's largest smartphone ever. At the same time, the model will not turn out to be a really huge “shovel”. By reducing the display bezels, Apple will be able to squeeze a huge 6.5-inch OLED display into a body with dimensions of a 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus. This means that the dimensions of the 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be approximately 158.4 × 78.1 × 7.5 mm (probably a little more).

The new iPhone XS will receive a design almost completely identical to the iPhone X - at most, some small details will change, which we will only learn about at the presentation. But what will Apple surprise in terms of design? The answer is - a new color.

Apple will release the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone XS in a brand new gold color. For clarity, we have posted the official image of the new Apple smartphones, which accidentally leaked to the Web, once again. Apple has never painted any of its smartphones in this color before. The difference with the usual golden color, well known to everyone from previous iPhones, is visible to the naked eye.

New golden color, never seen before

In total, the iPhone XS will be released in three colors. The new gold color will be accompanied by "space gray" and silver.

The new iPhone XS will feature 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch full-screen OLED displays with minimal bezels. The display resolution of the 5.8-inch iPhone XS will be 1125×2436 pixels. The resolution of the enlarged 6.5-inch iPhone XS is 1242 × 2688 pixels.

Other screen specs for the new iPhone XS are unknown. Analysts suggest that the improvements in displays will be quite serious. The 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be hit especially hard. Apple will certainly want to equip its largest iPhone ever with the best display. In addition to the standard increase in brightness, contrast and color spectrum, it is expected that the display will have some kind of unique feature.

Experts tend to believe that this feature will be support for ProMotion technology, which allows you to increase the display frequency to 120 Hz. This unique technology is currently only supported on the latest iPad Pro models.

It is also known that Samsung and LG Display will produce displays for the iPhone XS. Most of the orders will be taken over by Apple's South Korean competitor.

In 2018, Apple will finally abandon the Touch ID fingerprint scanner. Both the iPhone XS and the low-cost iPhone 9 (detailed review) will get support for ultra-accurate Face ID facial recognition. You can learn more about this truly revolutionary development in this article.

Until mid-2018, analysts said that the Face ID feature would not be greatly improved in the iPhone XS. However, later information was received that the technology would still be improved. The first generation Face ID creates a map of the user's face using 30,000 points. Face ID 2.0 (or Face ID 1.5) is expected to project even more dots onto the iPhone XS owner's face. This will improve the scanner's accuracy in determining the user and the overall stability of the function.

Note that the first generation Face ID works almost perfectly. It is with this argument that some analysts predict that Face ID in the iPhone XS will not receive any improvements.

As for the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, the smartphone will not have it. Despite widespread rumors that Apple plans to integrate Touch ID into the display of new iPhones, the company is not going to do this. This was announced by eminent analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Moreover, he emphasized that in 2019 Touch ID will not be built into the screens of Apple smartphones. The company sees this technology as very raw and is betting on Face ID.

The 5.8- and 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be based on the Apple A12 processor. The chip will be significantly faster than the A11 Bionic. Moreover, insiders reported that in the iPhone XS, Apple wants to focus on improving the performance of smartphones.

The Apple A12 chip will run 60-70% faster than the A11 Bionic due to the use of a new technological process in its creation. It is known that the production of the A12 processor will be carried out by TSMC, which will use the 7-nanometer FinFET process technology to create chips. By comparison, the A11 Bionic chip used in the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X is made using a 10nm process.

The performance gain of the A12 chip compared to the A11 will be from 30 to 70%. In addition, the chip is 40% more energy efficient. This means that the iPhone XS will be able to work longer without the need for recharging.

iPhone XS vs. iPhone 9

Back in June 2018, the test results of the iPhone XS were “lit up” on the official website of the Geekbench benchmark. Thanks to this, it became known that one of the iPhone XS prototypes scored 4673 points in single-core and 10912 points in multi-core modes. These figures are 10-20% higher than the iPhone X.

The amount of RAM 5.8- and 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be 4 GB. Thus, the new Apple smartphones will be the first in the line with such a large amount of RAM. Apple, as you know, does not stuff the iPhone with RAM just "to have it." Certainly, the new iPhone XS needed more RAM to successfully perform completely new functions. Experts believe that most of these features will somehow be related to smartphone cameras.

Apple will release both iPhone XS models with 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB of storage. By doing so, the company will double the maximum amount of storage compared to the iPhone X. No iPhone has ever been equipped with such a large storage.

The 5.8-inch iPhone XS will be equipped with a 2700-2800 mAh lithium-ion battery. The 6.5-inch version of the iPhone XS will receive a battery with an increased capacity of 3300-3400 mAh. In both cases, the battery will consist of two cells and is made in the shape of the letter L. Apple first used this solution in the iPhone X.

For comparison, the battery capacity of the iPhone X is 2716 mAh. As you can see, the latest 5.8-inch iPhone XS won't see much of a boost in battery capacity. The 6.5-inch iPhone XS will have a significantly increased battery capacity.

However, the battery life of both smartphones will be increased. First of all, this will be affected by the new energy-efficient A12 processor.

Support for fast and wireless charging technologies appeared in the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. Both technologies will be improved in the new iPhone XS. First, Apple will equip the new smartphones with a powerful charging adapter that supports fast charging. The power of the charger will be 18 watts. This adapter allows you to charge your iPhone XS almost twice as fast as a standard 5W charger.

Note that the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X do not come with a charger that supports fast charging. In order to use the function, smartphone owners need to purchase a special adapter separately.

And secondly, the iPhone XS wireless charging speed will be increased. Apple will equip both smartphones with a thicker transmission coil, which is made of copper wire. It has increased power and efficiency, due to the iPhone XS will charge wirelessly faster. Also, the use of copper wire will solve the problem with excessive heating of the iPhone during wireless charging. It compensates for the occurrence of heat and the cases of smartphones heat up less.

Cameras iPhone XS, without a doubt, the most intriguing and mysterious component of the new smartphones. It is known that both iPhone XS will be equipped with dual 12-megapixel vertical cameras with six lenses and support for dual optical image stabilization.

On the one hand, key camera specs are revealed and confirmed by lead analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. But additional characteristics, which are perhaps of greater interest, are still unknown. In particular, there is no information on additional camera functions and their new features. And there will certainly be, and in large numbers. Experts have repeatedly stated this, and the powerful A12 processor with a record 4 GB of RAM directly hints at this.

In other words, despite the fact that almost everything is known about the iPhone XS, and even the official images of smartphones have leaked to the Web, it will definitely be interesting at the Apple presentation.

In the summer of 2018, several leaks at once indicated that the iPhone XS would have support for the Apple Pencil stylus. It was reported that the ability to work with a stylus will significantly expand the capabilities of new smartphones. However, later a number of sources denied the previous information. Whether the iPhone XS will support the Apple Pencil stylus or not is unknown. Another intrigue.

In 2018, Apple will launch its first dual-SIM smartphones. But the company will act selectively. Only the 6.5-inch iPhone XS and the affordable 6.1-inch iPhone 9 will get a second SIM slot. The 5.8-inch iPhone XS will be left without a second SIM card.

What's more, the new dual-SIM iPhones will only be released in "certain regions," according to analysts familiar with Apple's plans. It is noteworthy that initially it was reported about the release of dual-sim iPhones only in China. Later, the wording was changed to "some regions". Perhaps the iPhone with two SIM-cards will visit Russia as well?

Only one thing is known about the communication capabilities of the iPhone XS - smartphones will be equipped with 4 × 4 MIMO antennas. Antennas will decently improve the bandwidth of smartphones.

The presentation of the iPhone XS will be held on September 12, 2018. Apple officially announced the presentation on August 30th. The event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater on the new Apple Park campus.

The start of sales of the iPhone XS will take place approximately 10 days after the presentation. Given that the presentation of the iPhone XS will be held on September 12, the release date of the iPhone XS is September 21.

This is the most likely launch date for the iPhone XS. True, it is possible that Russia will not be included in the list of countries where the iPhone XS will be sold in the first place - this is normal practice. Most likely, the iPhone XS will reach Russia a week after the global launch.

Throughout the year, there have been many different rumors regarding the prices of new Apple smartphones. Some analysts predicted that the iPhone will become even more expensive, others reported price cuts.

  • 5.8-inch iPhone XS - $800 to $899
  • 6.5-inch iPhone XS - $900 to $999

Thus, Apple will indeed reduce the prices of new iPhones compared to the iPhone X. In the most positive outcome of events, the 5.8-inch iPhone XS will immediately fall in price by $200. At worst - $100.

In Russia, the new iPhone XS will be sold at the following prices:

  • 5.8-inch iPhone 11 with OLED display - from 63,990 rubles to 71,990 rubles.
  • 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Plus with OLED display - from 71,990 rubles to $79,990 rubles.

Note: Please note that the prices above are already inclusive of Apple's taxes and other costs.

If Kuo's most optimistic forecast is confirmed, then the 5.8-inch iPhone XS will cost 16,000 rubles less than the iPhone X. In another scenario, it will be 8,000 rubles cheaper. In any case, the price of the new iPhone XS will be less than that of Apple's flagship a year earlier. And this is good news.

September has already arrived and the Apple presentation is getting closer every day. Therefore, I would like to discuss a couple of very important points that you are probably interested in knowing.

Firstly, which iPhones will be shown to us in September. Then let's talk about the exact date of the presentation of the new iPhone and what is the approximate cost.

What iPhone models will be shown in September 2018?

So, all summer we read rumors about three iPhone models. And as the experience of past years shows, the probability of the appearance of just three new iPhone models is almost 100 percent.

Already there is even a photo that inexplicably leaked onto the Internet. So let's start in order.

iPhone XS (iPhone 5.8" and iPhone 6.5")

First, it is worth talking about two models that will differ only in size (iPhone 5.8 inches and iPhone 6.5 inches). In all other respects, they should be identical.

From the pictures of the summer, I think absolutely everyone already knows that all three devices will receive exactly the same design as the current iPhone X.

What I'm talking about now is that the notch for Face ID remains. True, the budget model, which we will talk about a little further, will still receive some differences.

I have collected all the facts about the iPhone XS that are known at the moment (the information is based on rumors):

  • Name. The word "Plus" will definitely not be in the title. According to recent rumors, there will certainly be an "iPhone XS".
  • Colors. There will be three colors: Gold, Space Gray and Silver. As for the appearance of the golden color, both leaks and an invitation to the presentation speak.
  • Screen and dimensions. iPhone XS 5.8 inch: dimensions - 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7 mm, resolution - 2435 x 1125, 458 dpi, OLED. iPhone XS 6.5 inch: dimensions - 157.53 x 77.44 x 7.85 mm, resolution - 2688 x 1242, 458 dpi, OLED.
  • Performance. Apple A12 processor (using 7nm process) and 4GB of RAM.
  • Camera. About this moment there were the least number of rumors. There was talk of three lenses in 2019, but little to nothing about this generation.
  • Main features. There have been a lot of rumors about dual SIM support, as well as the addition of a new charging adapter (18W power adapter and Lightning to USB-C cable).

Also, we can say about the Lightning to 3.5 mm adapter, which should be removed this year. So now, if necessary, it will have to be bought separately.

iPhone 11 or iPhone 9 (6.1 inch)?

The sensation of this year should be exactly the budget model. It will use cheaper materials and a simplified camera.

With the name of the device, nothing is clear at all. In the title, I wrote about the possible options for the iPhone 9 or iPhone 11, but it’s hard to guess what will actually happen.

Here the information is less accurate than with previous models, but it is still there:

  • Name. Maybe iPhone 9 or iPhone 11.
  • Colors. There is no accuracy, but based on rumors, these will be Grey, White, Blue and Orange.
  • Screen and dimensions. Screen 6.1 inches, LCD display, 320 or 330 dpi, dimensions - 150.91 x 75.72 x 8.47 mm.
  • Performance. It is possible that instead of the future A12 they will put A11. RAM 3 GB, like the iPhone 8 Plus.
  • Camera. Instead of two lenses, there will be one. Therefore, we are waiting for the absence of a portrait mode and other features that depend on the second camera.
  • Main differences. There will be savings and this is quite normal. Apart from the materials, LCD display and single lens camera, we expect the lack of 3D Touch technology.

As you can see, there are a lot of inaccuracies. But perhaps this is for the best, because at least something should surprise us at a future presentation. Now, by the way, more about her.

When will the new iPhone be released in 2018?

Not so long ago, there was official information on the Apple website. By tradition, they posted a post with a puzzle picture, as well as the exact date and time of the presentation.

Everything will take place September 12 at 10 am California time. If anything, this 20.00 Moscow time.

How much will the iPhone 9, iPhone XS, iPhone 11 cost?

It's time to talk about the most unpleasant - the cost of future iPhones. Despite the fact that there are no exact figures yet, the predictions are very frightening.

Although, on the other hand, absolutely everyone knows that Apple technology has never been famous for its low prices.

The pricing policy in September will look something like this:

  • iPhone 6.1 inch: 700-800 dollars;
  • iPhone XS 5.8 inch: starting at $899;
  • iPhone XS 6.5 inch: starting at $999.

How much you have to spend in September also depends on the amount of memory you choose. The maximum amount of memory will certainly be worth good money.

iPhone X is the most advanced iPhone from Apple. With a treasure trove of features completely new to the iPhone lineup, it truly deserves the title of innovation leader.

With a lot of talk of new features and exciting new products on board, it's easy to get lost in all the improvements that Tim Cook, Craig Federighi and Phillip Schiller showed on stage. Therefore, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the main innovations of the device in order.

Apple is back to basics with the design of the iPhone X... in theory. Just like the iPhone 4 a few years ago, the shiny new smartphone comes in a glass body with an aluminum frame. But that's where most of the similarities lie. ends. The glass has undergone a 7-layer coloring, the purpose of which is to bring out the colors of the case. TO In addition, the glass itself has been reinforced with a steel and copper internal frame that reportedly makes it the most durable glass ever used in a smartphone. We believe that many people will want to drop test this $999 phone as soon as possible.

Frameless design

With an exceptional screen-to-front ratio of 81.23%, the iPhone X is on par with other bezel-less smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, LG V30, Essential Phone, and the exotic Xiaomi Mi MIX 2. Despite the big 5, With an 8-inch screen, the iPhone X is not much larger than the average iPhone 8/7/6s/6, which is an achievement.

The home button with the fingerprint scanner has gone into oblivion, and there were quite good reasons for its disappearance. iPhone X is now fully gesture controlled, allowing you to unlock your phone and perform other actions without using buttons. To return to the main screen, just swipe up from the bottom.

improved camera

The iPhone has a larger and faster 12-megapixel rear camera sensor, accompanied by a new color filter, as well as larger pixels. The secondary telephoto camera also received optical stabilization for the first time since such an option appeared in the Galaxy Note 8. The main wide-angle camera has an aperture of F / 1.8, while the telephoto lens has an aperture of F / 2.4.

Also improved is the ISP (image processor), which is able to detect elements in the scene you are about to capture. It also provides fast pixel processing, wide color capture, faster autofocus, and better HDR photos.

What does this mean for the average user? Most likely improved quality of camera photos and videos, as well as an increased level of convenience, thanks to new additions to the camera app. With 4K video recording at up to 60fps and ultra-low 240FPS Slow-Mo at 1080p, iPhone X doubles down on the cinematic capabilities of Apple's previous iPhones, making it a noticeable and fairly expensive device for novice videographers who want to easily capture cinematic footage while traveling .

Updated portrait mode

In portrait mode, the "portrait lighting" feature allows you to artificially change the lighting of the image you've taken, even after you've captured it. This feature uses the image depth detection algorithms provided by the A11 Bionic chipset. It intelligently "cuts out" the face of the subject and, by manipulating lighting, emulates scene lighting, contour lighting, and other modes. There are also many new filters that you can use to create your own content.

Chipset Apple A11 Bionic

Meet the A11 Bionic, Apple's new six-core chipset that's set to take iPhone X (and iPhone 8 and 8 Plus) to unseen performance heights. With four energy-efficient processor cores and two high-performance ones, it's said to be 70% faster than the A10 chip inside the iPhone 7. We can't wait to test it out and see how true it is. This improved performance is exactly what allows Face ID to do its magic.

face ID

The lack of a physical home button and TouchID fingerprint scanner prompted engineers to implement a completely new biometric system in the iPhone X, dubbed FaceID. Using a combination of sensors from the front, it creates a face depth map using over 30,000 points on the face. With a low error rate, FaceID promises to be more accurate than TouchID has ever been. You can also use it with Apple Pay.

Better than Retina - only Super Retina

5.8-inch (although Apple does not deny that the usable area is slightly smaller) OLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a wide color gamut according to the P3 standard, a high resolution of 2436x1125 pixels, support for a contrast ratio of 1,000,000: 1 and HDR? Sounds very tempting and promising.

Loud stereo speakers

The iPhone X also got a pair of stereo speakers, just like last year's iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. But the manufacturer has worked on the sound component and increased the maximum volume by 25%. This is very good when it comes to content consumption, and it will help not to miss a call in a noisy place.

New opportunities in AR

Augmented reality features aren't exclusive to the iPhone X, but they're worth mentioning. Augmented reality is set to take the world by storm when iOS 11 arrives. With that, things like animated emoji, colloquially called “animoji,” and a bunch of cool apps and games are likely to fill the App Store quickly.

bluetooth 5.0

Using the latest generation of Bluetooth, iPhone X is capable of transferring data twice as fast as Bluetooth 4.2-enabled devices and over longer distances, which is great news no matter how you look at it. It remains to wait for the mass appearance of accessories that work with this standard.

Qi wireless charging

You can easily charge your iPhone X with a Qi-compatible wireless charger. Apple is set to work with several Qi charger manufacturers to promote its accessories in the Apple Store and make them available to the general public. A dedicated charging mat for Apple AirPower is scheduled for early 2018. It can be used to charge your iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods at the same time.

Fast Charging!

The iPhone 10, not the iPhone X, is a giant step forward in the world of smartphones. The device received a completely new design and a number of innovative technologies.

Despite the fact that some of the main features of the iPhone X, like its "little brothers", the smartphone boasts many new unique features that are not found anywhere else.

The entry-level iPhone X is priced at Rs 79,990 for the 64GB model.

So, below, we'll take a look at the features that only the iPhone X has.

Super Retina OLED display

The iPhone X is the first iPhone to feature an AMOLED display. The screen diagonal is 5.8 inches, the resolution is 2436 × 1125 pixels, and the pixel density is 458 ppi.

Surgical stainless steel

iPhone X is the first Apple smartphone to feature surgical grade stainless steel.

face ID

The iPhone X no longer has Touch ID, and the user is authenticated using the Face ID facial recognition system. The system is a camera and sensor located in a recess on the top of the iPhone X. Face ID is a very sophisticated technology and is based on the TrueDepth camera system.

TrueDepth consists of a Point Projector, an infrared camera, and an infrared emitter that detects a face. When the user looks at the screen of the locked iPhone, the IR emitter detects and illuminates the face. Then an infrared camera creates an IR image of him, and the Point Projector uses more than 30,000 IR points to assemble a model of the face.

The IR image and point model are sent via neural networks to the new A11 Bionic processor to create a mathematical template. The resulting template is then matched against the iPhone owner's face image that was set during Face ID setup.

All data is stored in the Secure Enclave, making it useless in case your device is lost or stolen. The recognition process happens locally on the iPhone and no data is sent to the server.

It is noteworthy that Face ID only works when the user purposefully looks at the screen of the iPhone X.

Cupertino also tried to make sure that the system could not be deceived either with a photograph or even with a well-executed volumetric mask.

Portrait mode for selfies

Thanks to the TrueDepth camera sensor, the front camera on iPhone X also lets you shoot in Portrait mode. The selfie camera in the top "apple" smartphone is a 7-megapixel module with support for portrait lighting, which allows you to change the backlight if you wish.

Both the front and rear cameras of the iPhone X are capable of shooting with the Portrait Lighting effect, while only the rear camera can do this on the iPhone 8 Plus.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have a good old FaceTime HD front-facing camera.

The widest range of current iPhones deployed on the official page of the Apple Online Store may raise doubts even among people who have been familiar with the equipment of the American manufacturer for more than a year. To sort out and choose "Best iPhone" with an acceptable price tag, an integrated approach to the issue is needed. In this article, we will talk about the advantages and disadvantages of certain iPhone models and help you make the right choice.

At the time of writing, there are 8 iPhone models on official sale: fresh iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, last year's iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (), previous versions of iPhone 7 / 7 Plus (). As for the iPhone X, iPhone 6s/6s Plus, and iPhone SE, they are officially out of production. But since these devices are still on sale from official resellers, this year we will leave them in our review.

Note: iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 were not included in the list, because Apple does not officially sell them in Russia (but some resellers do). Yes, and now a lot of restored “fives” and “sixes” are being sold under the guise of new ones (in detail and). Be careful.

Smartphones are equipped with an Apple A9 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 12 MP main and 5 MP front cameras.

All modern chips like 3D Touch (a technology that allows you to determine the force of pressing the display), Taptic Engine tactile feedback, second-generation Touch ID fingerprint sensor (when the iPhone is not charging) are present.

The iPhone 6s Plus model from the younger 4.7-inch brother, in addition to the increased diagonal of the display, has a more capacious battery that provides impressive battery life and the presence of optical image stabilization when shooting through the main camera.

iPhone 6s is available in space gray, silver, gold, and rose gold.

The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are powerful enough devices that are still relevant today. Currently, 32 and 128 GB versions are on sale (the 16 GB model was discontinued after the start of sales of the iPhone 7).

iPhone 6s prices in Russia

You can buy the basic version of the iPhone 6s at 32 GB from retailers in Russia from 29,990 rubles. The variant with 128 GB of internal memory will cost 34,990 rubles.

The cost of the iPhone 6s Plus 32 GB is 26,990 rubles.

iPhone SE is suitable for those who do not like modern “shovels” with a large display diagonal or who want to purchase a relatively modern device, but at a lower price than the iPhone 6s. The gadget will be as relevant as the iPhone 6s - the next 2-3 years. Supports iOS 12. Available in 32GB and 128GB models.

Prices for iPhone SE in Russia

The only downside is the lack of a 3.5mm audio jack, but Apple seems to have set a new trend as rival manufacturers have also started releasing models without it. The popularity of wireless headphones and Lightning-enabled accessories has skyrocketed.

The 5.5-inch model has got a lot of exclusive features: a dual main camera (two 12 MP sensors with a wide-angle and a telephoto lens) with a 2x main and 10x digital zoom and 3 GB of RAM.

Currently, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are sold in two versions with 32 and 128 GB of storage.

iPhone X

In 2017, Apple released three smartphones at once, but for those who want to use exclusively “hi-end” devices, the choice has narrowed down to one. iPhone X () is an order of magnitude more expensive than its counterparts, but it also offers much richer functionality.

Like the iPhone 8 / 8 Plus, the 2017 flagship received a body with a glass back panel, but the front of the device has changed dramatically. First of all, the 5.8-inch screen, which occupies almost the entire area of the panel, is striking, as well as the lack of a Home button.

Its functions were taken over by an operating system that supports new control gestures, as well as Face ID user identification technology, which replaced the Touch ID fingerprint scanner.

At the same time, despite the largest display diagonal in the line, the dimensions of the “tens” are not much larger than the dimensions of 4.7-inch models.

Other benefits of the iPhone X include a 2436 × 1125 pixels (458 ppi) Super Retina HD screen, an improved camera with OIS technology on both lenses, Portrait modes with functionality, and a feature for the front camera.

Again, with the release of iOS 12, the iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus did not receive a feature that allows you to adjust the level of background blur.

In the fall of 2018, the iPhone X was discontinued, but you can still find it on sale at large resellers.

iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max

Design and screen

The new flagship uses exactly the same display module as last year's iPhone X - an OLED type matrix, a resolution of 2436 × 1125 pixels (458 ppi), the same contrast ratio (1,000,000: 1), brightness (625 cd / m²) and a set of supported technologies (HDR10, Dolby Vision, True Tone, 3D Touch, etc.).

In terms of design, there are only two significant changes, one good and the second, as usual, bad. Good, of course, should be called the appearance of a new gold color of the case, which does not look like “Arabian doraga”, but rather modern and technologically advanced.

The negative point was the asymmetry at the bottom of the iPhone XS / XS Max case, which can drive a perfectionist crazy. To the left of the Lightning connector there are 7 holes for the speaker, while on the right there are 4 holes and a plastic insert (“antenna”). Probably, the designers had to take such a step reluctantly and under pressure from engineers who demanded better conditions for the signal to pass due to the expansion of the list of supported standards ().

Another announced change is more durable glass, but a number of tests conducted by various bloggers and reviewers show that there has not been a revolution in this direction, and it is still just as easy to put a web on the screen or back panel.

Performance

According to this indicator, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are significantly superior to the iPhone X and it is the performance that determines such a high cost of new items. In 2018, Apple managed to significantly outpace competitors in the nanometer race - while most vendors are having difficulty establishing a 7nm process technology to create innovative processors, the apple corporation is already equipping the new iPhone XS, XS Max and even the iPhone XR with them.

As a result, the 6-core Apple A12 Bionic at 2.6 GHz (predecessor 2.1 GHz) is about 20% faster than the Apple A11 Bionic, 50% faster graphics and 40% more efficient battery management. Thanks to this, the iPhone XS lasts for half an hour, and the iPhone XS Max for an hour and a half longer than the iPhone X.

Naturally, the secondary processor modules have also been improved - the graphics coprocessor, the M12 Motion coprocessor and the Neural Engine, which now processes 10 times more tasks (5 trillion) in one second.

In addition, the new Apple smartphones received an additional gigabyte of RAM and now do a much better job when loading a large number of applications into RAM.

cameras

The iPhone XS camera itself (as well as the iPhone XS Max) has hardly changed, but Apple programmers did a good job on it. The only new feature that you can "feel" is the increased sensor size of the wide-angle lens, which now has a 1.4µm pixel (1.0µm on the iPhone X). But from a software point of view, iPhoneography lovers have really interesting opportunities.

First of all, advanced users will notice the improved performance of the iPhone XS camera with objects in the background, especially those that are in difficult lighting conditions (in shadow or overexposure). Thanks to SmartHDR technology, you can see in the pictures what the iPhone X optics could simply “write off” to the side of darkness or light. Another innovation is the ability to adjust the level of background blur in already finished portrait photos thanks to a new feature.

face ID

Longtime iPhone users will remember how dramatic the speed difference between the Touch ID fingerprint scanner was between the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 6S. So, in the case of the iPhone XS, the same progress cannot be expected, although the technology update was announced at the presentation on September 12, 2018. Practical tests show that the user's face recognition speed has increased slightly compared to the iPhone X.

Water and dust protection

Apple is one of those companies that will play it safe three times before declaring that the device meets any standards, especially when it comes to security. For the new iPhone XS, Phil Schiller boldly declared the IP68 standard and assured that the smartphone can be lowered into water to a depth of two meters for no more than 30 minutes. In addition, the corporation's top manager said that during the tests, the gadget was also doused with other liquids. This statement, as expected, caused a response from the community - reviewers and bloggers began to massively drown the new iPhones in whatever they needed (chlorinated and sea water, beer, juice, etc.), and generally confirmed the assumptions that the new case is protected from moisture and dirt is much better than the iPhone X.

Battery

The battery capacity of the iPhone XS is lower than last year's model - 2658 mAh versus 2716 mAh, however, as mentioned above, the average battery life without an additional power source for the new flagship is as much as 30 minutes higher, which is due to the use of an innovative processor.

Dual SIM support

Deserves special attention. All three new 2018 iPhone models allow you to use the familiar nanoSIM along with the electronic eSIM. The latter in Russia, like in most other countries of the world, is not supported, however, some experts predict the launch of the technology by domestic operators in the near future. In addition, specifically for the Chinese market, Apple released a special edition version with a double-sided tray for two physical nanSIM cards, which will certainly be in demand in Russia (it works)

As discussed above, for the first time this year, Apple has equipped all models with the same performance kit, further blurring the difference between the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. If earlier there were obvious differences between 4.7- and 5.5-inch devices (more RAM, dual camera), now customers, in fact, just have to choose between a smartphone with a 5.8-inch screen, dimensions: 143.6 × 70.9 × 7.7 mm, weight 177 grams and a smartphone with a 6.5-inch display, dimensions: 157.5 × 77.4 × 7.7 mm, weight 208 grams.

It is noteworthy that even the resolution will not play any role when choosing, because both displays have an identical pixel density - 458 pixels per inch. The only difference is the slightly thinner bezels of the iPhone XS Max, where the screen covers 84.4% of the front panel area.

It's also worth mentioning that the iPhone XS Max has a larger (3400 mAh vs 2800 mAh) battery than the iPhone XS, which significantly improves battery life.

And, of course, price can be a decisive factor in choosing.
