Hi gear 10 minute engine flush. Oil System Flush Additive Test

« The debate about the need to flush the engine has recently escalated. And all due to the fact that more and more used cars appear on the market than new ones. Panacea? Or harm? Are there many engine oil system flushes that are really effective? Let's deal with everything in order.»

Flushing into oil they are poured before replacement, mixing it with a lubricant that has already exhausted its resource, and let it work for some more time (most often 5 ... 10 minutes). Then the resulting slurry is drained and fresh oil is poured into the engine. All of these products contain cleaning additives similar to those found in conventional motor oil or only solvents. It is this fact that causes many doubts whether such a composition can wash off the sludge accumulated over the years, the products of combustion of oil and fuel, in a few minutes or at least a couple of days of work.

You can flush the engine with several means - oil or liquid with which you need to ride for a while. But the most popular one is 5 minute engine flush. Since the last two drugs are used most often - because of their ease of use, we will consider their effectiveness in more detail.

How flushing works

Quick (five-minute) flushes of the engine lubrication system work according to a fairly simple method. This composition is poured into the lubrication system, after which the motor should run for about 5 to 10 minutes, and the resulting mixing liquid is drained. The composition of the tool after flushing, a large (so-called shock) dose of detergent components. Which in a short time are able to wash old dirt, scale, deposits and other debris. This is evidenced by numerous engine flush tests. Their results can be found in sufficient quantities on forums and various resources on the Internet.

Sometimes on the network you can find conflicting reviews about a particular tool, the essence of which boils down to a negative action. Often, however, this attitude is the result of improper flushing. If the product contains aggressive substances, then with their prolonged exposure to rubber seals, there is a risk of damage to the latter. And this leads to an emergency. Therefore, before using a particular tool, you must carefully read the instructions for its use, and act in accordance with it.

Looking ahead, it is worth noting that the effect of using such flushes is indeed observed, however, it not as fantastic as their manufacturers say in the instructions. Therefore, the feasibility of use remains in question.

How is the engine flushed?

Despite the fact that most flushes act similarly, they still fall into several classes. Among them:

  • "Five Minutes". As a rule, they are based on an organic solvent, which allows you to quickly, at an accelerated pace, wash off dirt and deposits. The advantage of such funds is the high speed of action. Disadvantages - together with dirt, the “five-minute” can wash off grease from working mechanical pairs. As a result, burrs may appear on the parts. Therefore, such drugs can only be used at idle speed of the engine.
  • Soft engine flushes. They are added to the oil approximately 100 ... 300 kilometers before the moment. They act more sparingly than previous products, since their base is made from calcium sulfonates (some kind of soap and similar detergents). In addition to the base, the composition includes dispersing additives.
  • A mixture of the first two options. It can be a variety of compositions containing both solvents and detergent components with additives. As practice shows, universal tools are not as good as special ones, sharpened to solve a specific problem.

There is another class of washes that can be conditionally called popular, but they also belong to the “hard” class. For decades, before the advent of modern chemicals, motorists added various solvents to clean the oil system, including acetone or solvent. Such a solution takes place, but with some limitations:

  1. The effect of such a tool is very limited in time. Their work is allowed literally within 3 ... 5 minutes. Naturally, during this time they will be able to wash only surface deposits.
  2. In no case should you increase the speed when there is such a flush in the engine!

As an example, we list several popular compositions belonging to certain classes (naturally, their true number is many times greater).

  • "Five Minutes" - Hi-Gear-Motor Flush HG2214, and "EL TRANS Cleaner Oil System".
  • Means of long action -.
  • Universal means -, and.

Each of the listed washes has its own characteristics of composition and use, so reading the instructions is a must!

Remember that all of the listed remedies are preventive, and are not intended for. And also, that before filling in new permanent oil, it is advisable to purge the system with a compressor or use a vacuum pumping apparatus in order to remove all remnants of the oil mixture in the engine (after traditional draining, there are always about 200 ... 300 grams).

Rating

Currently, a huge number of different flushes for the engine oil system are being sold on the shelves of car dealerships. Having summarized all the information about the most popular funds, it turned out to create a rating of 10 funds. The search for effective engine flushes was based on feedback from use as well as their performance. We offer a short review in order to find out the real effectiveness and choose the best and most effective one.

It is positioned as a soft flush of the engine. Laboratory tests have shown that the composition of the product includes elements that also occur in fresh. In addition, detergent and anti-seize properties are characteristic since there are calcium, magnesium, boron, zinc and phosphorus. Due to this, the surface of engine parts is reliably protected from the decomposition products of old oil present in it.

The can is enough for pouring into 5 liters of oil. Flushing must be filled 100 ... 200 km before changing the oil. At the same time, remember that during the period when the flush is flooded, you can not use the engine for more than two-thirds of its power (drive in a gentle mode).

Sold in 300 ml cans. Its price for the spring of 2018 is 550 rubles. Article - 1990.

  • Advantages:
  • Balanced composition, the presence of gentle additives and washing elements;
  • Has anti-seize properties;
  • Possibility of use even in old engines.
  • Flaws:
  • Small volume of the can;
  • Relatively high price.

This is a classic American quick engine oil flush. The instructions indicate that it must be poured into the system for 10 minutes. It can also be used as a means for restoring compression and oil scraper rings, as it does not contain substances that destroy rubber or plastic. Additionally, there is a so-called "friction winner", (Energy Release), which is believed to contain chlorinated paraffins.

In addition to directly cleaning engine elements, High Gear provides good heat dissipation, which has a beneficial effect on parts, preventing them from heating up significantly during operation. The effectiveness of the oil flush application depends very much on the specific conditions of use and the condition of the engine.

It is sold in a 444 ml can, which is enough for an oil volume of 5 liters. Its price is about 450 rubles. The article for purchase is HG2214.

  • Advantages:
  • Positive effect on rubber and polyurethane products;
  • Can also be used in a turbocharged engine;
  • The use of flushing the oil system of the old engine is envisaged.
  • Flaws:
  • Requires a lot of precise work of the additive over time;
  • Efficiency is highly dependent on the condition of the engine.

This is a 5 minute engine flush that can be used on both petrol and diesel engines. The manufacturer reports that the product can also be used in motors operating under heavy load. This creates the effect of a protective layer that reduces friction.

The key to a positive effect is the use of flushing the lubrication system of the Liquid Moli engine on a regular basis for preventive purposes, that is, only in slightly contaminated cases. In engines with severe contamination and / or with improper use of the product, motorists note low efficiency.

Laboratory test studies have shown that the following elements are indeed included in the washing composition - calcium, magnesium, boron, zinc, phosphorus. And also the absence of any aggressive chemical elements. This means that the flush can be used as an all-rounder and not just for flushing the oil system. That is, the composition is able to effectively counteract the occurrence of scuffing and engine wear.

It is sold in a 300 ml can, which is recommended to be dissolved in 5 liters of engine oil. Its price is 300 rubles. Article to buy - 1920.

  • Advantages:
  • Relatively low price;
  • Flushing can be used to flush, protect engine components and its oil system;
  • Non-aggressive chemicals.
  • Flaws:
  • An exceptionally preventive drug.

Another quick cleaner (10 minutes) from the German company Liquid Moli. Able to effectively wash the combustion products in the elements of the engine oil system, but only with a small layer of deposits. Especially the fact that after the end of the work it completely evaporates, so there is no need to worry that the residues will mix with the new oil. It can also be used to flush manual transmissions.

The chemical analysis showed that the washing contains not only cleaning elements (Ca - 780 mg/kg), but also antiwear additives (Zn - 2181 mg/kg, P - 2179 mg/kg) and an organic solvent. Therefore, such a quick flush can effectively and gently clean the engine.

It is sold in a 500 ml can, which is enough to fill up to 5 liters in a system, the price is about 450 rubles. Its article number is 7507. And, what is remarkable, it can also be found in canisters of 1 and 5 liters ..

  • Advantages:
  • Different volume of packages;
  • The versatility of the tool;
  • Quite a lot of anti-wear additives.
  • Flaws:
  • Efficiency deteriorates as the deposit layer of oil and fuel combustion products increases.

According to the declared characteristics - a highly effective soft express flush for engines with high mileage and pollution (designed to idle for 5–7 minutes). In addition to cleaning, it eliminates coking of oil scraper and compression rings. Compatible with all types of oil, safe for rubber and plastics. Can be used in gasoline and diesel engines, including those with turbocharging.

However, the tests and chemical analysis carried out did not show any fantastic results. In particular, the composition does contain a detergent additive - calcium, but what is most surprising is that its content is lower (only 1682 mg / kg) than that of the similar agent HG2214 (2247 mg / kg). So, using a miracle as a cleanser is not worth hoping for, except that the main effect is achieved due to the solvent, which the manufacturer does not mention in the composition.

Sold in a 444 ml can. Its price is 360 rubles. Order number - HG2204.

  • Advantages:
  • It is permissible to use for gasoline and diesel engines, including those with turbocharging;
  • Compatible with both mineral and synthetic oils;
  • Safe for rubber and plastic;
  • It can be used as a prevention of ring decoking.
  • Flaws:
  • Mediocre indicators in terms of the level of cleaning from carbon deposits, slags and oxidation products from the channels of the lubrication system.

English synthetic oil flush additive. A distinctive feature of which is that it can be used as a quick and as a soft rinse. In the first case, the composition is poured into the engine, which runs at idle for 10 minutes. After that, you can change the oil. In the second case, the agent is poured into the engine a week before the replacement procedure. However, in the latter case, the car should simply stand, you can’t ride it!

Application for gasoline engines is envisaged. Has a thick consistency. Chemical analysis showed that the drug is based on motor oil with a concentrate of additives. Moreover, most of all it is detergents - 3509 mg / kg, although there are much more extreme pressure than in any other agent (2572 mg / kg of zinc and 2611 mg / kg of phosphorus).

The use of such detergent-dispersant additives instead of organic solvents has its own nuances. What is achieved is not the dissolution of oil deposits and dirt, but their exfoliation. And here lies the danger! If the system filter is in order, it will be able to catch large pieces of dirt. Otherwise, it will move on through the system. Therefore, it is absolutely impossible to use such a tool in heavily polluted engines! The best option is to use the rinse as a 10 minute cleaner.

Flushing is carried out in a 400 ml cylinder which is enough for 5 liters of oil. The price of such washing is about 400 rubles. Article - PEF400M.

  • Advantages:
  • Better efficiency in removing deposits and dirt;
  • Neutralization of harmful acids;
  • Frees sticky piston rings.
  • Flaws:
  • The impossibility of using the product with a clogged oil filter and / or a very dirty oil system.

Hi-Gear-Engine-Tune-up-HG2202

This is a mild cleaner for the engine oil system, the main composition of which is a pure solvent (oil distillate) since it has practically no third-party additives (silicon - 18 mg / kg and phosphorus - 7 mg / kg). Therefore, it is similar to the action of “grandfather's” acetone. It makes it possible to clean the crankcase ventilation system, restore the throughput of the PCV valve, clean the piston rings from carbon deposits. It is recommended to pour only into semi-synthetic and mineral oils.

An effective tool can only be for cars with medium mileage. On old engines with high oil consumption, it is recommended to fill in and drive with it for 100 ... .200 km before changing the oil.

But the composition of this drug is still questionable. After all, like washing an engine, having a meager number of additives and only traces of hydrosilicates will be able to cope with the declared characteristics. So, most likely, this flushing of the engine lubrication system is a representative of the “empty” class. That is, it absorbs dirt floating in the engine and merges when changing the oil.

For a better effect, there is a need to combine this drug with another one that has an additive package. A 946 ml HG2202 bottle costs about 500 rubles.

  • Advantages:
  • Multifunctionality;
  • Possibility of application in the worn-out engine.
  • Flaws:
  • No detergents or anti-seize additives.

This 5 minute engine flush is made in Russia by AGA. Designed to clean CPG parts from carbon deposits and varnish. It is safe for oil seals and gaskets. The manufacturer claims that it was tested on VAZ cars and allowed the car to be operated for 300 thousand km without.

Contains a metal conditioner. In addition to cleaning channels and other elements of the system, it also increases engine compression. It is used only before the next change of engine oil.

Real tests have shown that it does contain elements of calcium in an average concentration (1772 mg / kg). Accordingly, washing really has a washing effect, although it is not so pronounced. But in general, it is quite possible to use it, the main thing is to observe the time frame.

Sold in a 444 ml can. Its price is 300 rubles. Article - P023RU.

  • Advantages:
  • Low price with an average volume of the cylinder;
  • Gentle action on rubber and plastic parts;
  • The presence of elements of detergent additives.
  • Flaws:
  • Useless when used in an engine with high mileage.

Produced on the territory of the Russian Federation. In the declared abilities, it is noted that this flushing of the oil system is universal. Thus, it will not only remove carbon deposits and deposits, but also protect the surface of engine parts from scuffing. Soft flush Lavr according to the instructions is poured into the system approximately 100 ... 200 km before the planned oil change.

However, the performed laboratory analysis showed that the washing contains not the additives themselves, but only their elements. In particular, traces of calcium, zinc, phosphorus and a very meager amount of boron were found. Therefore, we can conclude that such flushing can be harmful to the engine over such a long section of the road as 200 km. Therefore, it is recommended to use it either at shorter distances (which is more appropriate) or as a classic “five-minute” when working at idle. But with such an action, there is another additive from laurel, a 7-minute solvent-based.

“Soft” Laurel Motor Flush Soft is sold in bottles of 330 ml, which is enough for an oil system of 4 ... 6 liters. Its price is 200 rubles. Article - LN1005.

  • Advantages:
  • cheap;
  • Compatible with all types of motor oils.
  • Flaws:
  • At a distance of 200 km, judging by the composition, it can only harm the engine.

Another American tool related to quick flushing of oil channels, and according to the instructions, it must be poured into the engine for up to 10 minutes. It is positioned as an effective drug that is safe for all engine elements, including rubber and plastic. Among other functions, it increases compression, and can also be used to decoke oil scraper and compression rings. Therefore, car owners, in the hope of a miraculous effect, buy it.

However, practical tests of this washing showed that it has very mediocre properties. In short, it does not fully correspond to the manufacturer's statements. From the positive test results, it is worth noting that BG 109 does increase compression slightly, and can also be used for incomplete ring decarbonization. It is used only as a prophylactic. This brand has other tools for solving the problems of flushing and rebuilding engines. For example, it is recommended to use BG 110, which is an additive to engine oil and enhances its properties, prolongs service life, keeps the engine clean and performs. Therefore, it is desirable to use these two described means in pairs.

It is sold in a 325 ml can, a 948 ml canister and a small barrel with a volume of 18.9 liters. A small can is enough for a system with a volume of 4 ... 5 liters of oil. Its price is 500 rubles. Article - 109.

  • Advantages:
  • Increases compression;
  • Use for decarbonizing rings;
  • Sold in packages of various sizes.
  • Flaws:
  • The efficiency of cleaning the oil system is greatly “bloated” and requires the use of an additional agent;
  • High price with other equal characteristics with analogues.

Conclusion

Hundreds of flushes of the oil system, costing from 200 to 500 rubles, can only be exposed in chemical analysis laboratories. And you, dear car owners, have only to rely on the honesty of the manufacturer or rely on the reviews of other users of already tested proven products and engine oil system flushes.

Therefore, even if you buy an original, and not a fake drug, you should not expect a miracle from it. Yes, the chemical composition will remove some soot and soot from the engine, but a large amount of them will remain in the power unit. After all, as you can see, not all products are as good as they are advertised.

An interesting fact is that the manufacturer does not hide much of the direct function of his liquid. It is in the very name on the case of the five-minutes that it means “flushing”, and not “washing”. We advise you to pay attention to the translation of English and German words. Flush - “flushing”, “flushing”, “flushing”, cleaner - “cleaner”, “cleaning”, Spülung - “flushing”, “cleaning”, “flushing”.

Cleaning the motor In fact, the automakers themselves recommend not flushing the engine at all, assuring that most high-quality motor oils have detergent properties. It is, of course, so. However, there are situations when the engine still needs to be flushed, because a lot of various contaminants are formed during its operation. For example, after the combustion of a gasoline-air mixture, a large amount of nitrogen oxides remains, which cause oil oxidation and, as a result, the formation of high-temperature sludge or deposits in the lubrication system. In a diesel engine, when fuel is burned, sulfur oxide is formed, which further increases the degree of contamination of the oil. And it itself also partially burns out and oxidizes, leaving varnish deposits on the pistons and rings. In addition, if the fuel mixture is too rich or does not burn completely, the formation of soot increases, which then enters the engine. All these and other processes lead to contamination of the oil system as a whole, which threatens to cause problems, voiced at the very beginning of the article. So what: should I flush the engine or not? If you enter the territory of the nearest garage cooperative and try to conduct a kind of public opinion poll on this topic, then the votes “for” and “against” flushing will be divided approximately equally. into the old oil before replacing it with new. For some, the term “flushing” may also be associated with a special flushing oil that is poured into the engine after draining the used lubricant. With this tool, the engine should idle for some time, after which the “flushing” is drained, and only then the engine lubrication system is filled with fresh engine oil. Based on this understanding of the issue, motorists often go off their feet in search of the most effective "5 minute" flush, or the highest quality flush oil. Many, especially people of the "old school", carry out such procedures with each oil change. In fact, engine flushing is a very useful process, but it is not necessary to do it in all cases. To begin with, let's recall the composition of any motor oil. It's no secret that it initially contains a whole range of additives. Moreover, at least one of them is responsible for keeping engine parts clean. Thus, if the same high-quality oil is poured into the engine regularly and on time, then you will not need any additional cleaning procedures. But let's say that we decided to pour some kind of preparation "for flushing the engine" into the engine along with the already used oil. It is quite obvious that some active substances must be present in this agent, otherwise washing, as such, loses its meaning. It is difficult for a non-specialist in lubricant chemistry to even imagine what kind of ingredients are contained in a container with a “5-minute engine flush”. And how exactly can these substances interact with the internal parts of the motor? Who guarantees that such a “flushing” will not corrode, for example, o-rings? In addition, by pouring the flush into the old oil, we radically change its characteristics, and first of all, one of the most significant - viscosity. Experts say that during this procedure, it can change significantly! After flushing, the old oil is drained, but some of it (up to 10%, depending on the design of the motor) remains in the lubrication system, mixed with the remnants of flushing chemicals. Then we pour fresh oil into this “cocktail”. Let's say that the content of this infernal mixture in the new oil is no more than 10%. But the fact is that the contents of the factory canister consist of about 85% of the base (base oil), while the remaining 15% are all kinds of additives. And this means that we added almost the same amount of “additives” to the new oil as there are already there. No one will say what characteristics the final composition of the lubricant will have, on which the car will have to work until its next replacement. Note that the above applies to any additives designed to "improve the properties" of motor oils. Approximately the same picture develops when using flushing oil. True, in this case there will be much less foreign active substances in the lubrication system, and therefore the negative effect will be hardly noticeable. At first glance, it turns out that an engine in which the oil is changed regularly and correctly does not need any “flushing”. However, there are a number of cases when it is still necessary to resort to the help of appropriate autochemistry. For example, an untimely oil change. After all, with a run of 10-15% more than recommended by the automaker, the additives that ensure engine cleanliness work out and the engine starts to get dirty. Another situation is the purchase of a used car. The new owner is not able to accurately determine whether the oil was changed on a given car in a timely manner, whether it met the manufacturer's instructions, and how dirty the lubrication system is. If for some reason the new owner did not flush the engine after purchase, then it is advisable to at least pay attention to the color of the newly filled oil. If it darkens after 100–200 km of run, then the lubrication system is significantly contaminated and requires urgent flushing. The third situation is forced topping up (more than 20% of the volume) of another brand of oil. The fact is that products from different manufacturers are not always compatible, especially when fresh oil is added to the working oil, but having a different composition. In such a cocktail, certain additives can precipitate, which, in addition to contamination, will lead to a sharp deterioration in the ability of the resulting mixture to resist engine wear. If the store does not have the oil that your car needs, and topping up is necessary, it is better to purchase a product from the same manufacturer - as a rule, it contains a similar package of additives, just in different quantities. The main thing is that the base (mineral, semi-synthetic or synthetic) should be like engine oil. Of all the possible options, the worst is adding "mineral water" to the lubrication system with "synthetics". In the most extreme case, you can buy oil from another manufacturer that has the same base with a similar level of performance properties (according to API, ACEA classification). The viscosity of the purchased top-up oil (according to SAE classification) must be no less than that of the oil poured into the engine or allowed by the car factory for a given ambient temperature. Otherwise, in high load conditions, low viscosity can lead to increased wear. After such forced mixing, it is necessary to drain the contents of the lubrication system as soon as possible, and flush the engine before filling in fresh oil. The engine must also be flushed if coolant (coolant) gets into the oil. This is due to the loss of tightness by the cooling system, most often due to damage to the cylinder head gasket. Even in small quantities, antifreeze causes significant damage to engine oil. Water and ethylene glycol contained in the coolant cause sticking (coagulation) of contaminants, decomposition (hydrolysis) of additives and accelerate the oxidation (aging) of the oil. Its performance deteriorates sharply, and sticky sediment particles can clog the oil receiver mesh, which will lead to oil starvation of the engine. It is better not to operate a motor with such a malfunction (if possible), and after the tightness is restored, the lubrication system should be flushed. In addition, flushing the motor is mandatory in case of filling low-quality or fake oil. The symptoms here are the following facts: a strong blackening of the oil after 100-200 km of run with confidence in the cleanliness of the lubrication system, black deposits on the inner surface of the valve cover, increased oil consumption, the appearance of blue smoke from the exhaust pipe, a sharp decrease in power. The latter is due to the fact that soot immobilizes the piston rings after 10–15 hours of operation. If any of the above signs appear, it is necessary to immediately drain the surrogate and flush the lubrication system. Motor oils are considered one of the significant sources of environmental pollution. Their discharge into the soil and water bodies exceeds the volume of emergency discharges and losses of oil during its extraction, transportation and processing. Therefore, the safe disposal of used oil is given serious attention. During operation, oils come into contact with metals, are exposed to air, temperature and other factors, under the influence of which their properties change over time: decomposition, oxidation, polymerization and condensation, charring, fuel dilution, flooding and contamination with foreign substances. These factors work in combination and mutually reinforce each other. For example, the presence of water contributes to the oxidation of the oil, as well as the appearance of biocontaminants in it, which develop at the oil-water interface. Mechanical impurities, which in most cases, along with soot, include metals in the form of corrosion products, are catalysts for the oxidation of oils. As a result of this process, acids and various resinous-asphalten compounds are formed. Waste oils are collected and recycled to preserve raw materials. For reference, about 1.7 million tons of oils are collected on the territory of the former Soviet Union per year. During their processing, base oils are obtained, which are identical in quality to fresh ones, and the oil yield, depending on the quality of the raw material, is 80–90%. Thus, the base oils can be regenerated at least two more times.

The debate about whether or not to flush the engine oil system during the engine oil change procedure does not subside. The idea of the need for flushing has both supporters and opponents, not only in the camp of car owners, but also among professionals. We will not list the arguments and sides. The test of the AvtoDela magazine, conducted jointly with the specialists of Liqui Moly, made it possible to wash 180 grams of oil deposits from the engine walls, which already allows us to look optimistically at the need for the procedure itself.

Other studies also point to the need to flush the engine during an oil change. In the winter period of 2012-2013 in the Moscow region, a large number (about 400) of engine failures were noted in the form of the impossibility of starting them in cold weather. Moreover, the “epidemic” affected fairly new cars that are still under warranty repair. Everyone began to sin on the quality of engine oil and began to make claims to manufacturers of engine oils. Shell conducted research and found that the wax deposits in the engine turned out to be hydrocarbons that were not contained in the original oil composition. This suggested that fuel was the cause of the deposits. This fact caused a great discussion in the professional community. This fact allows us to look at the question of the need to flush the oil system during the engine oil change procedure from another angle.

So if you are one of those skeptics who believe that it is not necessary to flush the internal combustion engine during an oil change, you can read no further. Our experiment convinced us of the need for such a procedure. The matter remains small: you need to purchase a flushing of the engine oil system and use it. That's just the question - which one?

A search on the website of one of the auto shops found 160 items of oil system flushes, the price of which ranged from 55 to 745 rubles. The difference is 13 times, so there is a choice between cheap or expensive products. In order to understand what is actually poured into a bottle with a beautiful label, we tried to compare the features of the product declared by the manufacturer and its chemical composition, which was evaluated in the laboratory of MIC Fuel and Lubricants and published in the blog of one of the LiveJournal users. Let us take the trouble to explain what is written in the laboratory protocols and how it compares with what the manufacturer himself claims about the product.

Why know this?

Before taking any pill or medicine, a reasonable person goes to the doctor and asks what kind of medicine it is. In extreme cases, each package of tablets contains an insert describing the chemical composition of the drug and its mechanism of action. In a car shop, no one bothers to write the chemical composition of an additive or cleaner in the instructions. Everything is limited to laudatory words that the buyer is acquiring a super tool that will make the engine perfectly clean. But no one is going to explain the cleaning mechanism, composition and possible complications if used improperly.

What can be in the bank?

There are three options for what cleaning additives are made from.

The first option is "five minutes".

These are additives based on an organic solvent, its task is to wash away accumulated deposits. As a rule, many “five-minutes” consist of a solvent. The Achilles' heel of such compositions is the dissolution, together with deposits of an oil film from rubbing pairs. That is why they can only be used when the engine is idling. If it is loaded while solvent is introduced into the oil, scoring may occur on unlubricated parts.

The second option is soft washes.

These are flushes that are added to the oil 100-300 km before the replacement procedure. They contain detergent-dispersant additives based on calcium sulfonates.

The third option is symbiosis.

Accordingly, it is possible to make a "compote" of washings of various types by adding a solvent and detergent-dispersant compositions to the extreme pressure additives.

Thus, knowing what is contained in the oil system flushing agent, one can draw conclusions about the effectiveness and safety of its use.

Probably everyone has heard about the old-fashioned way to clean the engine: add a solvent to the oil. Acetone is a good cleaner. But only the time of this procedure must be counted with a stopwatch, so as not to overdo it and not ruin the engine. Therefore, the use of washes based on solvents (though not acetone) is very limited in time. The only question is: what deposits can they wash off in 5 minutes of application? The answer suggests itself: only superficial. And God forbid, during the procedure, rev up - you can kill the engine ...

Manufacturers are looking for more complex compounds to wash off deposits and not damage the engine. As the most interesting in terms of the composition of the five-minute flushing agent, Liqui Moly preparations can be cited. In addition to the solvent, the manufacturer adds an extreme pressure additive based on phosphorus and zinc (it reduces the likelihood of damaging the engine during the procedure), plus a detergent-dispersant additive based on calcium sulfonate. This additive package will not only complement the actions of the solvent and compensate for the shortcomings, but also minimize the poisoning of fresh oil with waste residues.

Such products are the safest and most effective, but, unfortunately, the composition of the engine flush is not written on the packaging, and you can find out what is mixed there only after laboratory tests. Our readers, based on the knowledge obtained from the article about the chemical composition of a particular flush, will be able to choose a worthy drug for their car.

CONCLUSIONS

The presented diagram clearly shows what the engine oil system flushing agent consists of.

But evaluating their effectiveness is not an easy task. Let's figure it out.

Let's start with the biggest "stick" with the adaptive engine flush RESURS. In it, we observe the highest concentration of antiwear additive, but it is not entirely clear why the manufacturer did not add a detergent-dispersant package? At the same time, the manufacturer himself declares that solvents are not used in the composition. Due to what then the agent achieves a special cleansing effect remains a mystery. Yes, and a high concentration of phosphorus can adversely affect the operation of the catalyst.

Next richest flush COMMA Petrol Engine. An unusual flush, which, according to the manufacturer, can be used both as a five-minute and as a long flush of the engine. From which we can conclude that organic solvents are not used in it, and the effect is achieved through the use of a shock dose of a detergent-dispersant additive. The use of such a package for a long time is dangerous in contaminated engines, as the oil system may not cope with exfoliated deposits and become clogged.

Next comes Liqui Moly Oil-Schlamm-Spulung- it is declared by the manufacturer as a long-acting flush, which is also confirmed by laboratory tests. In it, the detergent and anti-wear package does not greatly exceed the concentration of new oil, and adding it to the engine 100-200 km away can really lead to a good result with minimal risks.

In lineups Liqui Moly Engine Flush And Liqui Moly Pro-Line Motor Spulung detergents and anti-seize additives are also present, but with an emphasis on protecting the engine during flushing. This is due to the fact that an organic solvent is introduced into the composition. As a result, we have a balanced composition with a solvent, protective and washing component.

Preparations Hi-Gear Motor Flush HG2214, ER PROFESSIONAL motor Flush P023EN, Hi-Gear Motor Flush HG2204 And EL TRANS Cleaner Oil System the test showed the presence of only a detergent-dispersant additive. Such a composition can hardly be called balanced. The manufacturer is clearly not concerned about the protection of engine parts during the flushing procedure.

Formulas that do not contain detergents or EP additives consist of a single solvent. Their use can lead to increased wear of the engine in friction pairs due to the dissolution of the oil film by the engine flushing agent.

Comments by Liqui Moly technical specialist Dmitry Rudakov

“The main part of any engine flush additive is the solvent. The task of the solvent is to thin the engine oil for better circulation and penetration into thin gaps. Also, the solvent removes some of the deposits in the engine. Most manufacturing companies believe that this is enough, forgetting that flushing must be both effective and safe. The effectiveness of solvents alone is not enough to fully remove deposits, so eminent auto chemical companies add a detergent-dispersant additive package similar to that used in modern motor oils. It is possible to determine whether such a complex is added or the manufacturer “saved” on the basis of laboratory analysis, which was done in this test. The presence of alkali and alkaline earth metals (ex: sodium or calcium) in the washing clearly indicates additional detergent additives and brings the product under study into the category of highly effective ones.

About safety: it is clear that the solvent in the flushing composition dilutes the oil, this leads to a thinning of the oil film and the risk of damage to modern high-powered engines (seizures and sticking). Responsible manufacturers solve this problem by adding EP additives, again closely related to the complex used in standard additive packages of modern motor oils. The same lab analysis, for elevated zinc and phosphorus levels, concludes that anti-seize components have been added and the flush is safe.

It is clear that the cheapest washes are those consisting of pure solvent. A full-fledged complex of detergent-dispersant and anti-seize additives increases the cost of the product, but gives the consumer confidence in the safety of the engine flush procedure, and sometimes one cannot do without flushing the oil system.

As a postscript

We added this paragraph for those who believe that the engine does not need to be washed, but still read the introduction. More recently, the magazine "Behind the Rulem" conducted a demonstrative test, in which it evaluated such an effect as poisoning fresh oil with the remnants of the old one after the replacement procedure.

A motor test showed that the use of engine flushing agents can not only reduce deposits in the engine, but also reduce the change in the physico-chemical parameters of fresh engine oil due to mixing with waste that is not drained from the engine.

FENOM synthetic - engine lubrication system cleaner, test

CLAIMED FEATURES

The manufacturer claims that FENOM synthetic engine oil additive is a 100% synthetic product that is designed to effectively clean high and low temperature deposits in the lubrication system and internal parts of gasoline and diesel engines that use synthetic engine oils. Hi-Gear Motor Flush HG2204 - High Mileage 5 Minute Engine Flush Test

CLAIMED FEATURES

The website of the manufacturer of the Hi-Gear Motor Flush HG2204 not only talks about what the flush consists of, but also conducts an educational program on why it is needed: “Specialists have found that the use of even high-quality oils does not prevent the formation of harmful carbon deposits on the internal surfaces of the engine and in the channels of the lubrication system. When changing oil without flushing, most of the contaminants remain in the engine. This is especially true for engines with high mileage, where the action of fresh oil detergents is much faster due to the presence of strong contaminants. As a result, active formation of oxidation and wear products occurs, which clog the oil channels, are deposited on the internal surfaces, which reduces heat dissipation, impairs the lubrication of parts, and causes coking of the piston rings. All this leads to an increase in wear of parts, a decrease in power and a deterioration in the fuel efficiency of the engine.”

It is stated that the high-performance formula used in the Hi-Gear HG2204 flush is designed specifically for high-mileage engines with heavy contamination, and allows you to remove most of them, including from the engine oil pan. This helps to maintain the working properties of the oil for a longer time and extend the life of the engine as a whole. The use of this flush at an oil change removes most of the dirt, oil decomposition products and carbon deposits (including from the engine sump). As a result of the use of this additive, fresh oil and a new oil filter work more efficiently. The oil retains its properties longer, which leads to an extension of the life of the engine as a whole.

The following distinctive features of the composition of Hi-Gear HG2204 are given

· Hi-Gear HG2204 is a special flush formula designed for heavily contaminated engines. The use of this engine flush allows you to remove most of all characteristic contaminants.

· Flushing engine Hi-Gear HG2204 effectively removes old deposits, carbon deposits, slag, oxidation products from the channels of the lubrication system and the internal cavities of the engine.

· Hi-Gear 5-minute engine flush for vehicles with high mileage helps to clean the surface of the pistons from varnish deposits.

Eliminates coking of oil scraper and compression rings, restores their mobility, thereby increasing compression, reducing gas breakthrough into the engine crankcase and oil oxidation.

· Eliminates the need for flushing oils. With regular use, it helps to restore engine performance, reduce wear of its parts and increase service life.

· Safe for rubber seals, oil seals, valve stem seals.

Compatible with all mineral and synthetic motor oils.

APPLICATION FEATURES

Before applying the Hi-Gear Motor Flush HG2204 5-minute engine flush, the engine must first be warmed up to operating temperature and then shut off. Then the jar with the additive must be shaken several times and its contents poured into the oil filler neck of the car. Start the engine and let it idle for 5-7 minutes. It is not recommended to exceed the crankshaft speed above 2000 rpm. It is forbidden to drive a car with a flooded flush. After the set time has passed, it is necessary to drain the old oil, remove the old oil filter, install a new filter and fill in new oil. The packaging is designed for a lubrication system with a volume of 4-5 liters. For a larger volume lubrication system, it is recommended to use a larger amount of product.

TEST RESULTS

A laboratory study has shown that a five-minute wash of the Hi-Gear Motor Flush HG2204 engine contains trace elements: calcium Ca - 1682 mg / kg, magnesium Mg - 6 mg / kg, boron B - 0 mg / kg, zinc Zn - 0 mg / kg and phosphorus P - 7 mg/kg.

A five-minute Hi-Gear Motor Flush HG2204 found only a detergent additive, as indicated by the calcium content. And what is most unusual: the concentration of detergent in the preparation is lower than in a 10-minute engine flush of the same manufacturer.

RESURS - adaptive engine flush, test

CLAIMED FEATURES

Adaptive engine flush RESURS is designed for internal flushing of the lubrication system of gasoline and diesel engines, removing carbon deposits, sludge, films, resin deposits while maintaining engine performance.

The RESURS additive is intended for deep cleaning of the engine oil system. Ideal when switching from mineral to synthetic oil and vice versa or to another brand of oil. Contains special components Aktiv Subs, adapting one type of oil to another. Recommended for all types of engines. With maximum effect, cleans the internal surfaces of the engine from hard-to-remove sludge and varnish deposits.

Does not contain acids, acetone or kerosene, other similar solvents that lead to scuffing.

RESURS adaptive engine flush includes refined mineral oils, detergent-dispersant, anti-corrosion, neutralizing and anti-wear agents that restore parts and save the engine during flushing.

APPLICATION FEATURES

The manufacturer recommends using the RESURS adaptive flush for worn engines that “eat” a lot of oil and whose walls are covered with strong deposits. And he also suggests adding RESURS adaptive flush to pure oil at the rate of 1 bottle per 3-5 liters of oil and then use it as a flush oil.

To use, it is necessary to pour the RESURS engine flush into the oil filler neck of the engine warmed up to operating temperature. Start the engine and let it idle for 5-10 minutes, then drain the flush with the oil and replace the oil filter.

WARNING: do not operate the vehicle when the RESURS engine flush is in the system.

TEST RESULTS

A laboratory study showed that the RESURS adaptive engine wash contains trace elements: calcium Ca - 11 mg/kg, magnesium Mg - 0 mg/kg, boron B - 1 mg/kg, zinc Zn - 6093 mg/kg and phosphorus P - 6044 mg /kg.

Thus, this flush contains a powerful anti-wear package and the question immediately arises, where are the detergent components? Why did the manufacturer not add detergent-dispersant additives to the formulation, the task of which is to wash the engine and remove all the sludge from it? At the same time, their presence is declared in the composition, but is absent in fact. In addition, experts immediately asked themselves what would happen to the catalyst if phosphorus entered it at a concentration much higher than the requirements of European standards. For this drug, the test revealed more questions than answers.

LAVR Motor Flush Seven minutes - engine flush, test

CLAIMED FEATURES

The manufacturer claims that LAVR Motor Flush Seven minutes (LAVR 7-minute flush) is a professional preparation for flushing the oil system of passenger car engines. Recommended for all types of gasoline and diesel engines of passenger cars, including turbocharged engines. One package of the drug is designed to flush the engine oil system with a volume of 4-5 liters.

It is also said that the effectiveness of LAVR Motor Flush Seven minutes (LAVR 7-minute flush) is achieved due to the increased content of detergent components and dispersants, which actively affect contaminants and remove them from the engine oil system as safely as possible.

The use of LAVR Motor Flush Seven minutes prevents coking of piston rings and increases the service life of new oil, as well as prevents sticking of hydraulic compensators and hydraulic tensioners, rejuvenates rubber cuffs and gaskets.

The product is claimed to be ideal for flushing turbocharged engines, as well as lubrication systems that have not been flushed for a long period.

TEST RESULTS

Laboratory study found that the following trace elements are present in the "LAVR 7-minute rinse": calcium Ca - 0 mg/kg, magnesium Mg - 0 mg/kg, boron B - 0 mg/kg, zinc Zn - 1 mg/kg and phosphorus P - 8 mg/kg.

A similar composition indicates that the LAVR Motor Flush Seven minutes engine flush consists of an oil deposit solvent.

COMMA Petrol Engine - engine oil cleaner, test

CLAIMED FEATURES

Synthetically enhanced COMMA Petrol Engine oil additive designed to quickly flush the oil system of a passenger car or van engine before changing the oil. Eliminates harmful deposits and sludge. Neutralizes harmful acids. Cleans the engine, allowing new oil to circulate freely in the engine. Helps release sticky valves and piston rings.

APPLICATION FEATURES

The manufacturer offers two ways to apply the COMMA Petrol Engine additive. Quick - pour the composition before changing the engine oil and let the engine run for 10 minutes, after which the oil should be changed. And the second way is to fill in the additive a week before changing the oil.

TEST RESULTS

A laboratory study showed that the COMMA Petrol Engine engine oil additive contains trace elements: calcium Ca - 3509 mg / kg, magnesium Mg - 8 mg / kg, boron B - 116 mg / kg, zinc Zn - 2572 mg / kg, phosphorus P - 2611 mg/kg and silicon Si - 13 mg/kg.

According to the data obtained, the COMMA Petrol Engine engine oil additive contains a package of detergent additives, as evidenced by the presence of calcium, and an anti-wear package (zinc, phosphorus), and an anti-friction additive is also possible. The concentration of the package is almost twice as high as in engine oil. The pitfalls lie elsewhere and open upon careful reading of the instructions. It turns out that the same remedy can be used both as a standard five-minute and as a long-term additive. A reasonable question arises: how did the manufacturer manage to combine the efficiency of cleaning with a quick flush in the service and the possibility of long-term operation in the engine? After all, for the first one, it is necessary to introduce solvents into the composition to increase efficiency, and for the second method of application, solvents cannot be used, since it thins the oil film and, when a load occurs, leads to scuffing in friction pairs.

Judging by the results of chemical analysis, in order to achieve the declared features, COMMA Petrol Engine does not use organic solvents, but cleaning is carried out due to a powerful detergent-dispersant additive package. The peculiarity of his work is not dissolution, but exfoliation of oil deposits, which begin to drift through the system and must be captured by the filter. In systems with a small amount of deposits, this is acceptable, but for heavily contaminated engines it is fraught with clogging of the oil channels. Therefore, in the case of using the additive on a contaminated engine, we would recommend limiting it to a 10 minute flush cycle.

During the operation of the car, even when using high-quality motor oils, harmful carbon deposits inevitably form on the internal surfaces of the engine and the channels of the lubrication system. When changing oil, some old used engine oil also inevitably remains in the internal cavities of the engine. Therefore, if fresh engine oil is poured immediately after draining the engine used without prior flushing, the detergent additives of the newly filled oil will immediately begin to actively dissolve all these deposits and contaminants remaining in the engine, which in turn can lead to a number of extremely negative consequences: in particular , to partial clogging of the oil filter and, accordingly, to a decrease in the efficiency of its operation, as well as to the premature development of an additive package and the loss of detergent properties of fresh engine oil. All this has the most detrimental effect on the engine resource and its power characteristics.

Today, the need to flush the lubrication system when changing engine oil is quite obvious, no one doubts and does not need any additional justification. Nevertheless, given the importance of this problem, let us dwell on this in more detail.

THE MECHANISM FOR THE FORMATION OF HARMFUL DEPOSITS IN THE ENGINE

In the combustion chamber of a gasoline engine, where the fuel-air mixture enters, it ignites, completely or partially combusts, resulting in carbon deposits. In addition, the products of incomplete combustion of fuel are the cause of the formation of varnish deposits on the internal surfaces of the engine. Further, most of the combustion products leave through the exhaust system, however, a small part of the gases breaks into the crankcase and, accordingly, comes into contact with the engine oil. In this case, the oil is oxidized and diluted, sparingly soluble oxidation products are formed, which, in turn, additionally contribute to the formation of sludge and other deposits.

In diesel engines, in addition, sulfur enters the combustion chamber with the fuel. As a result of oxidative reactions of sulfur, during the combustion of the fuel-air mixture, harmful deposits are formed, which result in corrosion and engine wear.

ENGINE FLUSH INTERVAL

Carbon deposits formed on the internal surfaces, channels of the lubrication system and engine parts lead not only to a deterioration in heat removal, but also to a noticeable decrease in the adhesion of oil to friction surfaces, which, accordingly, worsens the retention of the oil film on engine parts in friction units.

If these harmful deposits are not periodically removed, this can lead to an avalanche-like increase in engine wear. That is why it is necessary to regularly flush the engine with every oil change and oil filter change.

FLUSH SELECTION OF THE ENGINE LUBRICATION SYSTEM

If the question is “to wash or not to wash?” has not been on the agenda for a long time, since the answer here is unambiguous - wash! - then the problem of choosing the optimal means for flushing the engine remains relevant. So what to wash? There are several options. The best solution is to use as a flush ... fresh engine oil of the same brand that is currently being used! The used oil is drained, fresh is poured in, the engine is allowed to run for some time, then the oil is drained again, the oil filter is replaced, and fresh engine oil is poured again. This completes the oil change operation.

The solution is optimal and ... not used by anyone. Why? - The answer is simple: proceeding from the uttermost economic inexpediency! It is easy to calculate what such an oil change will cost - exactly twice as much. If, in addition, “synthetics” are used as engine oil, then the price of such “pleasure for the engine” becomes generally sky-high.

However, some unfortunate motorists who do not flush the engine at all when changing the oil, in fact, do so. If the motorist still mistakenly believes that there is no need to flush the engine when changing the oil, then he can be advised to remove the oil dipstick after two or three days and see what color the "fresh" oil will be. Most likely, he will be very upset - after all, the oil will be almost the same black color as the previously drained mining.

Another, more rational option is the use of flushing oils. The used oil is drained, and, without changing the filter, flushing oil is poured in full. The engine is allowed to idle for 15-20 minutes, then all flush oil is drained, the oil filter is replaced, and fresh oil is poured. The key word here is "everything"! The fact is that just all the flushing oil is physically impossible to drain. Depending on the design features of the engine, about 5-10% of flushing oil inevitably remains in it. Flushing oil is usually an inexpensive thin "mineral water". This residue can significantly reduce the viscosity and other service properties of fresh engine oil. Accordingly, this has a negative impact on both the oil change period and the engine life.

The best option is to use special “five-minute” detergents and some others when changing the oil, which are poured directly into the old oil. "Five minutes" significantly increase the detergent and dispersant properties of the oil, as well as increase its fluidity. Carbonaceous and other contaminants are effectively removed from the lubrication system and internal engine cavities, and used old oil drains more completely from the engine crankcase.

The use of "five minutes" allows for better flushing of the channels of the lubrication system and the internal cavities of the engine. As a result, the mobility of compression and oil scraper piston rings is restored, heat dissipation is improved, fresh oil and filter work more efficiently, engine wear is minimized, and engine life is increased.

The use of "five minutes" is completely safe for rubber seals, oil seals and valve stem seals. Does not affect the viscosity and does not reduce the resource of freshly filled oil, unlike "flushing" oils. At times, in comparison with "flushing" oils, it reduces the amount of waste product to be disposed of.

FEATURES OF FLUSHING WEAR-OUT ENGINES

When flushing engines with high mileage and in especially neglected cases, when the engine was not previously flushed during an oil change, certain care must be taken: large fragments of contaminants to be removed can pose a danger to interacting engine parts. In such cases, it is recommended to use "soft engine cleaners", which are poured into the engine 100-300 km before the oil change. They work while the car is moving, gradually transferring contaminants into finely dispersed phases that are safe for the engine.

PROFESSIONAL ENGINE FLUSHES

In case of constant use of low quality mineral oils (wash at least once every three oil changes);

In case of severe overheating of the engine (usually, when overheating, the oil is highly oxidized and forms carbon deposits);

In case of systematic use of fuel of dubious quality;

In the event of obvious engine malfunctions: excessive oil consumption associated with “bedding”, coking of piston rings, smoke, loss of compression, poor engine start;

In case of strong and constant knocking of hydraulic lifters caused by clogging of the oil supply line.

Assortment and technical description

FIVE MINUTE OIL SYSTEM FLUSH. Significantly improves the washing and dispersing properties of used oil. Additionally dilutes the oil, which allows you to remove contamination from the most inaccessible cavities and channels of the lubrication system. Contains special anti-seize components that provide additional protection for engine parts and guarantee complete safety of the flushing process. Promotes the most complete removal of used oil from the engine. Due to its ease of use, high efficiency and safety for the car engine, "five-minute" is in high demand among motorists. That is why this flush can be found not only on the shelves of specialized car dealerships, but also at gas stations and chain hypermarkets.

Art. 1920

PROFESSIONAL WASHING. Flushing the engine lubrication system (art. 7507) contains a higher concentration of detergent and anti-seize components than the "five minute". The mechanism of influence on pollution is the same. Allows you to effectively wash and safely remove a variety of contaminants: carbon deposits, sludge, varnish deposits that inevitably form in the engine. The composition is so active that it allows you to remove even DEPOSITS FROM PISTONS AND FROM THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER of the engine, restoring normal compression. Promotes the removal of particles insoluble in oil and wear products of parts. Developed with a synthetic base. The composition is effective both for removing varnish deposits and soot and sludge. It can also be used to flush mechanical transmission units.

[IMPORTANT:] The time of use of flushing should not exceed 10 minutes, since the volatile components of the additive evaporate from the oil and the cleaning properties of the composition after 10 minutes of operation are sharply reduced.

Art. 7507/2425/2428

Special flush, recommended to be used before applying the anti-friction additive "Motor Protect". Similar in action to PRO-LINE MOTORSPULUNG, but additionally performs preliminary preparation of surfaces of friction pairs for subsequent treatment with MOTOR PROTECT antifriction compound. Helps to increase the efficiency of using MOTOR PROTECT.

Art. 1019

NUMBERS "FIVE MINUTES". Appeared in the assortment of the company relatively recently - at the end of 2009. The purpose of the release of this line of flushes is to simplify the choice of flush by the buyer with minimal involvement of the seller. This is a classic example of a “self-selling” product. The range consists of three petrol flushes, varying in efficiency and intended use, as well as a specialized diesel flush. For the convenience of buyers, washings are assigned numbers, from 1 to 3, and operational features are presented in the form of a table:

SOFT FLUSHING OF THE OIL SYSTEM (100-300 km). Effectively and gently cleans the parts of the valve mechanism, the valve cover, the grid of the oil receiver of the oil pump. The peculiarity of this washing is to remove contaminants from those parts that oil does not get under pressure, but by spraying or in the form of oil mist. Removes even old oil sludge against which other flushes are powerless. Especially recommended for flushing engines WITH HYDRAULIC COMPENSATORS and other hydraulic mechanisms, such as VVT-i, V-TEC, VANOS valve timing clutches and hydraulic timing chain tensioners. Minimally dilutes the old oil, which allows the use of flushing during the operation of the car. Ideal for flushing engines of vehicles with high mileage or in cases where the lubrication system has not previously been flushed.

Art. 1990

FLUSHING OIL SYSTEM OF MOTORCYCLES. Specialized formula designed for gentle flushing, for engines combined in one oil sump with clutch mechanism and alternator in the same oil bath. Reliably and gently removes deposits, deposits, sludge and sediments from the oil system of 4-stroke motorcycle engines. Decokes rings, raises compression. Does not damage clutch friction linings, lacquer insulation of wires, gaskets and seals, exhaust gas catalytic converter.

Work with objections

Good oil cleans itself.

Answer: Towards the end of the oil's life, the detergent additives are exhausted and their effectiveness decreases. Without flushing, the contaminants remain in the engine, and the detergent additives of the newly filled oil are developed even faster - by the end of the service life, it no longer cleans, and the accumulation of contaminants becomes an avalanche.

Equipment manufacturers do not recommend washing.

Answer: In the same way, manufacturers do not recommend changing the oil in garage conditions, but insist on changing the oil in authorized car services, where engine flushes are also used. The first and main principle of creating all Liqui Moly products is DO NO HARM! Liqui Moly washes are completely SAFE. The main thing is to strictly adhere to the instructions for the use of flushes.

Washing for 5 minutes corrodes the seals.

Answer: This is not true! Liqui Moly flushes include a complex of ingredients that is aimed at restoring the elasticity of oil seals and all rubber seals. Accordingly, corrosion of seals when using Liqui Moly washes is excluded.

Full-volume flushing oil washes better.

Answer: Such a comparison is not very correct, in fact, it is necessary to compare the composition of additives, and not the base. The oil itself is only a base, and the additive package used provides detergent properties. Therefore, a truly high-quality full-volume flush is close to conventional motor oils in terms of cost. Our flushes are a concentrated package of additives, and the oil poured into the engine is used as the base, which allows you to save both on the cost of flushing and on an additional procedure (twice drained and disposed of). The volume of additives in Liqui Moly flushes is significantly larger than in full-volume flushing oil, besides, Liqui Moly flushes contain diluting components in addition to detergents, which allows more complete draining of the used oil.

Never washed the engine and everything was fine. Why wash?

Answer: This does not mean that you have a clean engine! A dirty engine increases the risk of its emergency failure.

I'm afraid to pick up dirt, and it will clog the oil ducts, and the engine will break.

Answer: Liqui Moly washes are completely safe, as they are configured not to “separate” contaminants from surfaces, but to gently and layer-by-layer erosion of contaminants. "Thrombosis" of the system is excluded.

What can she wash in 5-10 minutes?

Answer: Flushing, first of all, dilutes the used oil, which allows the washing active components of the flush to penetrate into hard-to-reach places. In addition, it contributes to a more complete drain of used oil. As a result, the maximum possible amount of contaminants is removed from the engine.

It is better to change the oil more often than to spend extra money on flushes.

Answer: The question of economic feasibility. What is cheaper? Are you ready to change the oil twice as often and fully comply with the operating conditions, using only high-quality fuel, which is very problematic in our conditions? Only in this case you will have a relatively clean engine.

I washed it once, I don’t want to do it again (negative experience from using washes).

Answer: Find out the reason. Most likely, it is connected with one of the objections indicated in this section.

The old flushed oil will remain in the engine and degrade the properties of the new filled oil.

Answer: Quite the contrary! Old oil thickens and settles on contaminated surfaces, and flushing dilutes the used oil and contributes to a more complete removal of it from the engine.

Service station Flushing of the engine is not registered in the technological map of TO.

Answer: Engine flushing should be offered to service station customers as an additional service, referring to the difficult Russian operating conditions. In addition to benefiting the engine, flushing can bring additional income to the service.

STO Customers refuse to wash.

Answer: Engine flushing should be offered to service station customers as an additional service, referring to the difficult Russian operating conditions. Service station customers need to be explained that this is an additional option, completely safe for the engine, on which they can make good money with the right approach.

The hydraulic lifter needs to be changed immediately.

Answer: This is a delusion, the performance of hydraulic lifters is just restored by flushing, which is much cheaper than replacement.

I use cheaper washes.

Answer: Only a well-known company with an excellent reputation and proven products guarantees effectiveness and safety. Washes from Liqui Moly are German traditions of quality!

High mileage car.

Answer: In this case, flushing is simply necessary to increase the resource and restore engine power. In such cases, we recommend a "soft" flush, which effectively removes old deposits and coking.

After such washing you will get to the engine bulkhead.

Answer: There is absolutely no connection between the use of flushing and engine overhaul. Overhauling is always associated with engine failure, and periodic engine flushing reduces the risk of engine failure and extends engine life.
