Hello to all those interested and readers! Today I will tell you about my impressions of the two-hour test of the third generation Hyundai Tussan.

Do not forget that this is an urban crossover with all-wheel drive and you still shouldn’t expect miracles from it on muddy off-road. Although the machine is quite interesting. In the morning the car was frozen, -17 degrees upon arrival at the salon. I started the car, turning on all possible heating. By the way, I later turned off the steering wheel heating, since I no longer felt the need for it. The seats stayed on until our destination. In the first position, it seemed to me the most comfortable heating. Strong heat is not felt, you just feel comfortable. Adjusting the lumbar support is also a very convenient thing, at first I had to deal with it for several minutes, trying to find the right position.

Well, we decided to go to the off-road track for testing. There we already tested the vesta cross. But then there was little snow. And after a few days of snowfall, this is it for such a crossover.

They didn’t test it in an unknown place and went to the polegon.

They also did not dare to drive along the entire length of the route, the snow was getting more and more and, accordingly, deeper. Before us, someone could be seen trying to pass, but he abandoned this idea and turned around. We rode there for a bit.

To say that the car is not lucky is impossible. Tussan not only carries, but also takes out. I saw several videos on YouTube, which showed how four-wheel drive does not work and the car cannot even drive up a small hill. It’s very strange, maybe their equipment was not rich, with front-wheel drive ?! In my opinion, the car coped well with the snow. This is not a frame SUV for you. And for moving around the city, for a trip to the country, or fishing, you don’t need more.

The presence of exchange rate stability only adds confidence behind the wheel. True, it seemed to me that it worked with a slight delay. The car begins to drift a little into a controlled skid, and only then the system is connected and aligns the car. In general, it allows you to splash a little adrenaline.

By the way, I did not think that Tussan had such a trunk. In appearance, the car seems short, like a hatchback, and it seems that there will be little space in the trunk. However, this impression turned out to be deceptive.

Let's sum it up. A comfortable car with all-wheel drive, good cross-country ability and sound insulation. On the track, only the hiss of the tires could be heard. You can talk freely. You have to raise your voice a little when you press the accelerator pedal to the floor. The low-pitched growl of the engine at high revs permeates the cabin. Otherwise, I did not feel any discomfort.

Externally, the car attracts its attention. We had the maximum package. For myself, for example, the presence of all-wheel drive, foglights, exchange rate stability, I consider it necessary, and the rest, as they say, depends on the capabilities and desires.

And for those who will write that the review is paid, I will answer. Certainly, one of the strengths of this model is its appearance, which combines sportiness and at the same time rigor, a kind of middle manager with an athletic build and an active lifestyle. You may have noticed that over the past few years, Korean Hyundai and KIA cars have received significant changes in appearance and are among the most attractive in their class. And all this thanks to the involved designer Peter Schreyer, who previously worked at Audi.

A distinctive design feature of the new generation of Tussans is a hexagonal grille with three horizontal stripes, which is connected to new and stylish LED headlights that extend onto the car's fenders. At the top of the headlights is a stylish strip, which many confuse with daytime running lights, but in fact it is just a decorative element, while the DRLs themselves are located in the front bumper under the fog lights. Moreover, their design differs depending on the sales market, in the American version they are located above the foglights and have the shape of a checkmark.

The Tucson looks bigger than it actually is, thanks to swollen wheel arches and a massive front end with hood stampings. Thanks to the dimensions, the designers managed to make the appearance of the novelty swift and get rid of the “barrel shape”, for which many scolded the Hyundai ix35. And all this thanks to the fact that, compared with its predecessor, the 2016 model year has become longer, wider and lower. If you look at the crossover from the side, then because of the falling roofline, it seems that the car is ready to "jump", the same feeling is visually preserved when driving.

If the front part turned out to be memorable, then the back of the car looks very faceless, there is no detail in it that the eye would cling to. Personally, we were especially disappointed with the lights, it seems that they were not worked on at all, but taken from the Cerato model. Similar lights can be found, for example, on the Ford Kuga or Nissan Qashqai. And there’s nothing more to consider here, everything is like everyone else’s - a plastic bumper protection, a tailgate that opens up, and so on, perhaps the only thing that was done unusually is the twin exhaust pipes, hinting at a cocky character, although there is no one today surprise.

Salon, forget about cheap and hard plastic

Getting into the interior of the car, you immediately understand that the manufacturers paid special attention to its design, ergonomics and choice of materials. Tucson got rid of almost all the sores that the ix35 owners complained about so much. Let's start with the materials, the first thing you want to pay attention to is the presence of softer plastic, though not the entire interior is trimmed with it, but only those places that your hands reach during operation. The door lining itself, the lower part of the console and torpedoes, all this is still made of hard plastic, but this is due only to the class of the car in defense, we can say that competitors have the same thing, and some of them are worse. Potential owners can choose from a wide range of interior colors (black, beige and red) and materials, including leather. The selected material will be upholstered in the seats, the armrest insert in the doors and the armrests on the door handles. Separately, it is worth noting that the control unit for the central lock and power windows moved to the door handle, if earlier it was separate and too high, now everything has been done perfectly in terms of ergonomics. The instrument panel got rid of the wells and received a monolithic design, the drawing of the instruments themselves and the numbers does not cause any difficulties in reading. Depending on the chosen configuration, the dashboard can be equipped with a small screen that displays the indicators of the navigation system. Previously, one of the main troubles of the ix35 was the presence of uncomfortable seats with a short seat, in Tussan there is no such problem. The seats received an elongated seat, the company's desire to conquer the European market, excellent lateral support, heating and ventilation, lumbar support and a wide range of adjustments affect. The center console has a new 8-inch touchscreen display with the ability to output information to a new generation navigation system, which, according to company representatives, has become three times faster than the previous version. The new navigation system comes with a seven-year free subscription to TomTom Live Services, including TomTom Traffic, speed camera locations.

The new Hyundai Tucson 2016 model year, in addition to all of the above, has become even safer, and this is not only due to the presence of modern security systems, but also due to the new body shape, which has significantly improved visibility. And perfectly adjusted ergonomics allows you to intuitively find one or another control key without being distracted from the road.

Passengers in the back row are not deprived of comfort, they also have the ability to adjust the angle of the seatback, move them forward and backward, and most importantly, the seats have a heating function. True, the seat cushions could be longer, because. on long-distance trains, passengers whose height is above average may get tired.

Despite the increased dimensions compared to the ix35, the luggage compartment of Tussan, on the contrary, became smaller, this was done for the benefit of the interior space. The trunk volume of the Korean crossover is 513 liters, with the rear seats folded down, the volume can be increased to 1503 liters, the indicators for ai x 35 were 591/1436 liters. But it has become more convenient to load luggage, and depending on the equipment, it is possible to order a function that allows you to open the tailgate by swiping your foot under the bottom, where a special sensor is located, the same system, for example, is installed on the Ford Kuga.

Engine range, available transmissions and drive type

Tussan 2016 is equipped with an upgraded line of gasoline and diesel engines that have become more economical, along with this, a new turbocharged gasoline engine has appeared, which is installed for the first time on a Korean SUV. When developing the Hyundai Tussan, manufacturers tried to make their car economical and comfortable so that it could compete with European and Japanese models. At the same time, the front task was to make the car also manageable, if earlier the ix35, which was originally intended for the American market (by the way, in the USA the car was originally produced under the name Tycson) where rollability is preferred for the benefit of comfort, then the current generation, in its sense, is more reminiscent of European models, on Volkswagen Tiguan likeness with precise steering.
