Is it worth it to buy an old BMW. BMW E60

03.09.2019

In 2004, the BMW 1 Series appeared in the back of the E87, this car is considered the most modest and inexpensive BMW car. The body in terms of reliability is no different from its counterparts. There is also a large layer of paint, the paintwork is high-quality and durable, it corresponds to BMW cars. The 1st series was built on the basis of the 3-ki BMW in the back of the E90.

The car looks good for a long time, it loses its gloss slowly, if chips appear, they still do not bloom due to the galvanized body. Even on 12 year old cars, rust is rare. Of course, it is difficult to find a BMW that has not been involved in an accident, but it is possible. The main thing is to check the wheel alignment before buying, if the suspension is working, and the corners cannot be adjusted, then it is better to look for another option. You also need to check if the emergency circuit breaker is intact on the positive terminal.
But if you wish, you can also replace the emergency contact on the positive terminal, for this you have to pay 130 euros. Therefore, this is not yet an indicator that the car was not involved in an accident.

If the body is well protected from corrosion, then the electrician is susceptible to corrosion, most often, the main power supply circuit suffers from corrosion. Sometimes it happens that after 4 winters, the positive wire seriously rots if it is not treated with anticorrosive.

After about 5 years of operation, the rear wiper may stop working, rust usually disables the mechanism that is inside the trunk lid, a new one costs 120 euros, and road dirt can eventually disable the tailgate lock, this lock costs 50 euros, hides He's behind the BMW badge. It also happens that creaks inside the front panel begin in the cabin, which indicate that the electric motor of the stove fan will soon fail, which is quite expensive - 170 euros for the original and 90 for the non-original.

There is also an unpleasant situation when the waterproofing on the doors came off and after the rain water got into the cabin, so that the entire rug became wet. But this situation is easy to fix - just remove the door trim and normally glue the waterproofing that has moved away.

Motor

The M47 diesel engine with a volume of 2 liters is considered very reliable, but on the 1st series it is very rare to find such an engine - on a car manufactured before 2007. Approximately 3% of the BMW 1st series can be found such a motor. The M47 diesel engine, with proper care, can easily last 400,000 km.
After 2007, 6% of cars began to install a new N47 diesel engine with an aluminum cylinder head. Weaknesses in this motor has become a little more. The gas distribution mechanism drive in it is rather weak. On the earliest motors, the chain could already wear out after 50,000 km. run.

But in addition to diesel engines, there are still a huge number of different configurations with other engines. Of course, the Germans began to correct the situation with the engines, made upgrades, but it is better to bypass cars with an N47 diesel engine older than 2009. After 2011, the chain can already last 100,000 km. But all the same, on all cars you need to listen for a clatter from a loose chain. Replacing the chain, tensioners, spacers and sprockets will cost about 450 euros. Moreover, the timing chain is installed at the back, so in order to change the chain and all these little things, you have to remove the motor, that is, you still have to pay money for the work.

That the injection pump, which costs 1100 euros, and the piezoelectric injectors, costing 470 euros, which do not serve more than 180,000 km. - this is nothing compared to the complexity of replacing the chain every 100,000 km.

Petrol engines

Motors running on gasoline also have problems with the timing chain. Back in 2004, when a 2-liter N46 engine was installed in the 1st series. Cars with this engine - about 25%. Usually after 100,000 km. run, the engine starts to work more loudly and rumble like a diesel engine. Here, the cause may be a stretched chain or a worn tensioner. Sometimes there are rare cases when the drive can reach up to 150,000 km. The original new chain costs 100 euros, the tensioner - 45 euros, analogues can be found 2 times cheaper.

The most popular engine is considered to be the N45 with a volume of 1.6 liters, the total number of cars with this engine is about 50%. But after 80,000 km. it may also have problems with the timing drive, especially if the motor is spun to the fullest.

But in this motor, the chain breaks very rarely, but it happens that if it stretches, it can jump over the teeth of the sprocket. The motor uses variable valve timing couplings of the Vanos system, they usually serve 180,000 km each. Their replacement will cost approximately 370 euros. The cylinder-piston group has approximately the same resource. These motors are thin-walled and light-alloy, so usually, if it's time to change the cylinder-piston group, they change the short blocks, but since the new ones are expensive - 2600 euros, in order to save money, many craftsmen have learned to sleeve the old ones.

Also, with these motors, a situation occurs when the timing chain tensioner gasket flows, because after a while the tensioner mounting bolt loosens. This situation can also occur after 50,000 km. run, but this leak does not affect the performance of the tensioner, everything will just be in oil.

After 2007, N43 engines with direct injection began to appear in the 1st series. In them, the timing chain already lasts longer, but other unpleasant things have appeared. For example, fuel injectors, each of which costs 200 euros, and they last about 100,000 km. To understand that it's time to change the injectors, the situation will tell when the engine runs unevenly on an unheated state.

Also here already after 50,000 km. failure of the ignition coils. Sometimes there are cars with 3-liter engines, there are no more than 4% of such cars, they sometimes have problems with the electric pump of the cooling system and high-pressure fuel pump, this usually happens after 100,000 km. A new electric pump costs 350 euros, and a high-pressure fuel pump costs 1100 euros. These are original spare parts, and the high-pressure fuel pump from Bosch can be taken for 470 euros. These motors do not like overheating, so once every 3 years it is advisable to do a serious cleaning of the radiator.

All gasoline engines have unreliable vacuum pumps, usually after 80,000 km. they start to flow. The valve stem seals wear out quickly, at about the same mileage, which is why oil consumption increases greatly. The oil in all BMW cars must be changed more often - once every 7-10 thousand km. If tightened with an oil change, the crankcase ventilation unit may become clogged and oil will go into the intake manifold, after which carbon deposits will appear on the valves. Deposits will also appear on the Vanos variable valve timing clutch control solenoid, as evidenced by vibration at idle and weak traction. But if you do a flush, then everything will return to its place. In addition, there may be problems with Valvetronic, so the oil in a BMW should be changed more often and not be aware of these problems.

Transmission

Gearboxes, unlike motors, are more trouble-free. After 120,000 km. it's time to listen to the rear gearbox on cars with 6-cylinder engines. If a slight click appears during rapid acceleration, this means that the propeller shaft flange nut has loosened and must be tightened normally. Approximately 150,000 km. semi-axle seals will last and will hold oil. The cardan coupling, which costs 90 euros, will also withstand the same mileage.

A manual transmission is installed in about 12% of cars, it is quite reliable and rarely needs to be repaired. Regardless of the motor, the manual box lasts for a long time, perhaps after 160,000 km. seals need to be changed. But there are cases that after 200,000 km. you have to change the clutch, for this it will be necessary to remove the box. A clutch kit will cost about 300 euros, a non-original can be found for 180. The clutch must be replaced immediately, the clutch must not be allowed to slip, because the 2-mass flywheel of the motor can be damaged, which costs about 1000 euros for the original. Brake pads last 40,000 km. front and rear 60,000 km. Discs usually last 2 pad changes.

The 2000 ZF 6HP19 automatic transmission can be problematic. It is this box that is installed in cars with engines 1.6 and 2.0 of 2004. These gearboxes do not like overheating and too low temperatures. Therefore, you should not start abruptly on an unheated box, the more powerful the motor, the more harm will be for the box. In winter, it is advisable to warm up the automatic transmission before the trip too - turn on the drive and keep the car on the brakes.

Engineers made this box nimble and quick-firing - the torque converter locks on as early as possible, starting from first gear, thus the box is maximally stressed. Frictions slip in traffic jams, wear products appear in the oil over time, so the oil quickly begins to age and needs to be changed so that the box lasts longer. In general, bushings, friction clutches, a torque converter, solenoids, and the entire valve body wear out quickly. It often happens that the automatic transmission requires overhaul after 120,000 km. run.

In 2006, a new automatic transmission 6HP21 was released, in which the mechatronics was seriously improved, the valve plate, clutches and solenoids were changed. Such a box began to serve longer - about 230,000 km. According to the regulations, it is necessary to change the oil in it every 60,000 km. The signal that it is time to change the oil immediately will be shocks or vibrations. Also, you need to watch for leaks, because in the winter the gasket of the solenoid block can freeze. After about 4 years, the block seal may leak.

In the same 2006, in addition to the German box, they began to install the American automatic box GM 6L45 / 6L50. It is rarely found anywhere, usually it is in cars with 2-liter gasoline engines with a capacity of 150 and 156 hp. With. and 3 liter engines. With this automatic transmission, there is even less trouble than in the German one. It can fail if you often drive at maximum speed, because the rotary oil pump does not always withstand the rotary oil pump, especially on cars manufactured before 2008. And the valve bodies themselves can last at least 250,000 km, the oil must be changed every 90,000 km. But it is better to take the car after 2010, then there was a modernization of this box.

But you still need to follow the “donut” of the torque converter, because after 150,000 km. its hub wears out, the stuffing box will tell about this, which will suddenly begin to flow.

Thanks to its attractive price, high comfort and excellent handling, as well as a still fresh and modern appearance (despite the fact that almost 16 years have passed since the debut of this "five"), it makes a good impression and is still considered a prestigious car to this day. Today on the market you can buy this luxury car for an average of 500-600 thousand rubles (for restyled versions that entered the market in 2007), which, you see, against the backdrop of current price tags on the car market, is a tempting offer.

But we advise you not to rush to purchase this car, especially if you are going to make a purchase with the last money. Remember that the cost of maintaining and repairing this car will only be affordable for those people who have an above-average salary in large cities. And that's why.

  • When buying a BMW 5 Series with body designation E60, it is best to choose a petrol car, despite the fact that in this car it is more reliable. But for the diesel version, you will have to pay more. In addition, the quality of diesel fuel and the incredible cost of maintaining diesel cars eliminates all the advantages of a diesel compared to gasoline versions. Remember we are not in Europe
  • BMW 5 Series maintenance costs can be very high, despite the fact that such a car on the used car market can be bought even for 500,000 rubles. Also remember that some repairs to this car will cost you a fortune.
  • Spacious interior and large trunk, of course, are important advantages of the "five" - this car is very convenient and practical

The BMW 5 Series E60 entered the market in 2003 and over a 7-year market career + 1 restyling was sold in many different configurations: as a sedan, station wagon with rear-wheel drive or with full xDrive-wheel drive, with manual or automatic transmission with petrol and diesel engines. Therefore, today in the used car market, everyone can find for themselves exactly the "five" that will best suit individual tastes, preferences and needs.

But, on the other hand, such a variety of different modifications / versions gives rise to a huge number of offers on the used car market, which can not only make your head spin. The fact is that the more offers on the market, the greater the risk of running into a problem car: a car with twisted mileage, a car after an accident or in a killed technical condition. And the worst thing is that it is extremely difficult to find a really good used copy from such a large number of offers.

And what motor to choose? What is preferable? Our hearts and souls always lean towards petrol cars (has long been famous for its aggressive, awesome petrol engines). Common sense (especially today, when fuel has become more than 40 rubles per liter) tells us to buy a diesel car.

But if you look at the used car market, then most of the offers will be for gasoline versions. Why?

Because diesel cars in our country are less popular than, for example, in Europe. Why, if diesel engines consume much less fuel compared to gasoline? It's all about the quality of diesel fuel, as well as the high cost of repair and maintenance of diesel cars. Therefore, our motorists most often try to bypass diesel cars. In addition, diesel cars are always more expensive than their gasoline counterparts.

Nevertheless, we want to pay attention to the diesel "fives", because they are still more reliable, even with high mileage, than BMW gasoline engines. So, among diesel engines, 2.0-liter diesel engines and six-cylinder 2.5-liter and 3.0-liter engines can be distinguished.

Most often in cars until 2007 there were 3.0-liter M57 diesel engines. This is a good, successful engine. But today, when you buy an old "five", many cars with such engines have already covered 300,000 km or more and, of course, they need maintenance and repair. Fortunately, even with such miles, the cost of repairing old diesels is not too sky-high.

Especially if you can buy part of the engine components at a disassembly. As for new parts, if you don't buy them from an authorized dealer who can strip you naked without you even noticing, then you won't be too upset about the cost of the components you need to freshen up an old BMW diesel engine either. . So, most often, the M57 engine on a mileage of 300 thousand or more km requires regeneration of the injector, as well as replacement of the flow meter and fuel pump.

Also, labor should be added to the cost of spare parts. Naturally, the steeper the car service, the steeper the price tags for replacing diesel engine components will be. For example, if you contact the officials, then be prepared to part with a round sum. If you turn to the garage craftsmen who specialize in BMW, you can save a lot of money.

As for diesel engines, after the restyling of the 5th series, which took place in 2007, the 3.0-liter diesel engines have undergone some modernization, becoming more technically advanced. But, unfortunately, the repair of these motors has become more expensive.

If we talk about 2.0-liter diesel four-cylinder engines, then they once had a problem associated with frequent breakdown of the crankshaft. But, as a rule, this problem popped up with new engines, and, most likely, today there are no used cars left on the used car market with the risk of crankshaft destruction, since many car owners have long since changed it to a new one.

Comparatively worse in terms of durability, the 2.0d N47 diesel engine (appeared on the 5th series during restyling in 2007). His main problems were the turbine and particulate filter, as well as the timing chain mechanism.

BMW 5-series - gasoline deserves attention

When it comes to gasoline, the most reliable gasoline engine, of course, in this model is the M54 engine (a six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine installed on pre-styling cars). Unfortunately, most of the problems are found in the more modern direct injection engines that appeared in restyled models launched in 2007 (N43 four-cylinder engines and N53 six-cylinder engines). Most often, problems are observed in these restyled gasoline cars, constant problems with ignition coils, malfunctions of fuel system sensors. Including the fuel pump often fails. In addition, these engines are very demanding on fuel quality and become very capricious on Russian gasoline.

Other cons of the old BMW 5-series E60

In addition to possible problems with engines in the old "five", you should know when buying a used car that often in these cars there are problems with electric motors for rear-view mirrors, with trunk lid switches, and also with electric windows. Including when inspecting the machine, pay attention to the control icons on the dashboard, which can signal various errors in the electronics and malfunctions. Of course, if the indication "" is on on the tidy, then in no case do not buy this car until you have done a complete computer diagnostics of the car.

Also, during the inspection, check the performance of all the electrics of the car: including how the sunroof, clock, dashboard, screen, where various system messages are displayed, work.

But the main thing when buying an old BMW is to check the condition of the engine, gearbox and suspension. Including when inspecting the car, you must be careful to identify a car with an accident history. Remember that if the car has been in an accident, then most likely its integrity has been violated, which means that the car has become less safe. In addition, after a body repair (especially a handicraft one), the car body can rot in just a few years.

BMW 5-series - according to a specialist

The BMW 5 Series E60 has many typical failures and various "childhood illnesses", which BMW official technical centers usually say are a design feature of the car. Fortunately, the cost of fixing some problems in an old car is not that high. However, they are still pretty big. Therefore, when purchasing a BMW 5 Series E60, you must have a normal income in order to maintain a premium car. After all, despite the fact that this model is outdated and costs less than 1 million rubles today, this does not mean that the car has lost its status and class.

BMW 5 Series - Our Opinion

The BMW 5 Series is an enjoyable car that is a lot of fun to drive. This is one side of the coin. But if we talk about repair and maintenance, then the advantages of comfort, prestige and safety fade against the backdrop of a large number of possible breakdowns that the owner of a used "five" may encounter. Not only that, the cost of some repairs may surprise you, even if you have a large salary.

1 /19 BMW 5-series - this car can seduce many naive buyers with its appearance, character and performance

A used BMW 5 Series E60 is enticing in many ways. And although its cost today is affordable for many, it is still not an option for everyone.

2 /19 BMW 5-series - a cheap premium car is fraught with a catch

Attractive price tag on the market, high comfort, excellent handling (incredible information content / responsiveness of the steering wheel), as well as a fairly modern appearance. By the way, despite its age, this car still looks prestigious and remains premium in every respect. Even taking into account the fact that some cars can be bought for only 500 thousand rubles.

3 /19 BMW 5 Series - seduces like a woman in many different ways

Impressive even today, especially when you buy a car well equipped with various options.

4 /19 BMW 5 Series - for example, you will be pleasantly surprised by the comfortable front seats

The front seats in the BMW 5 Series are comfortable and well designed for people of all sizes.

5 /19 BMW 5 Series - minus - rear seat

The rear seat is also quite comfortable and wide. But the rear passengers will still not be very comfortable due to the lack of special niches in the front seats for the legs of the rear passengers. So, despite the size of the car, the back seat is pretty cramped. Especially if three adult passengers sit there.

6 /19 BMW 5-series - interesting, but no one needs options today

In many instances on the secondary market, you can find an old bulky one that no one needs now.

7 /19 BMW 5 Series - comfortable head restraints

Comfort and safety of movement is ensured by accessories such as headrests that support your head well.

8 /19 BMW 5 Series - Comfortable rear seat armrest

The armrest located on the back seat can accommodate not only drinks, but also has a large storage space.

9 /19 BMW 5 Series - interesting options

Many models are equipped with a projection system that displays important information on the windshield in front of the driver's eyes.

10 /19 BMW 5-series - interesting options in the station wagon

The back door (trunk lid) in the station wagon has an interesting option: you can get into the trunk without opening its lid. To do this, the designers provided for the opening of the window.

11 /19 BMW 5-series - the main plus is a large trunk even in a sedan

The BMW 5 Series sedan has a 520-liter boot volume that is not bad even by today's standards.

12 /19 BMW 5-series - but in the station wagon, of course, the trunk is better, however, only if the rear seat is folded out

The BMW 5 Series Wagon has a 500-litre boot. With the rear seat folded down, the cargo space is already 1,615 liters.

13 /19 BMW 5 Series - minus is a panoramic sunroof

Most often, a panoramic sunroof breaks in the BMW 5 Series, in which an unreliable opening / closing mechanism.

14 /19 BMW 5 Series - The thermostat in the 2.0-litre diesel engine is a ticking time bomb

The BMW 5 Series (model 520d) breaks down frequently. At best, it is simply fraught with its usual replacement. In the worst case, there is a risk of damage to the block head and even the engine block.

15 /19 BMW 5-series - the disadvantages of diesel engines

A dual-mass flywheel malfunction, injection system failure, DPF filter (diesel particulate filter) defects - all these problems occur in all versions of diesel engines.

16 /19 BMW 5-series - the disadvantages of diesel engines

Since 2008, a frequent problem with crankshaft pulleys has appeared in BMW N47 diesel engines. BMW also recommends regularly changing the shaft with bushings, oil pan gaskets, head gaskets at a certain mileage. The worst thing is that often on these motors gaskets do not go for a long time.

17 /19 BMW 5-series - cons in electronics

BMW has never been famous for the quality of electronics, unlike the Japanese. So, often with used BMWs, you can find problems with displaying icons on the dashboard, which can quickly burn out. There are also problems with displaying information on the LCD screen located on the dashboard. Over time, the indication on this screen begins to appear with dead pixels. Replacing this screen is very, very expensive!

18 /19 BMW 5 Series - electronics cons

In used BMW 5 Series, a steering module malfunction sometimes appears. Sometimes the electromechanical steering mechanism fails.

19 /19 BMW 5 Series - electronics cons

The BMW 5-series E60 is a pleasant car that really gives a lot of driving pleasure. But you have to pay for comfort. Any motorist who has decided to buy a used BMW should know this. Don't be under the illusion that the Germans don't break down. You understand that it is almost impossible to buy a BMW E60 with low mileage today. But even if you manage to find a car with low mileage, then think about why the car has such a low mileage, despite the fact that it was made back in the 2000s.

Hai. So it's time for the BMW E60. Yes, not just a BMW E60, but a car that is 14 years old, it is 2003. In the maximum configuration - Individual. How many of these have you seen in your life? Let's try to figure out what's left of the once good, boy's car?

Once again - 3l M54B30 gasoline, at maximum speed, 2003 onwards. Imported from Europe. Claimed mileage 280,000 km. And I was surprised when I just saw the mileage in the ad of 280,000 km, this is such a rarity that it’s easy to describe with a pen, not to say ... always and everyone has 100,000 km and rarely more. Price - 550,000 rubles.
Who buys these cars?
Bloggers to collect signatures. Knowledgeable and understanding people, but they are looking for good cars. Young people and those who have only one phrase in their heads - I WANT BMW. Guess who was my client?

No need to explain everything for a long time, let's look. When I arrive, I mean, I see a car at the address, and then I ask myself the question - is this it or what? Blood flowed from the right eye, the left survived, but squinted from the sun. And even from a distance it does not seem that the car is good.

Do you think it's all repainted? And how many times? And what is left of the native body?
I feel sorry for all the old cars, like Mowgli for Akela. And I haven't seen a well-made car for a long time... they are all about the same... equally dead.
My criteria for an old car?
Not broken. Not rotten. With safety if it was from the factory. More or less technical. No big investment. Without a bunch of stocks on the body, because I don’t want to ride a completely dented car.

And that's what we have with this machine stupidly on jambs.
- paint the rear right fender.
- paint the rear right door.
- paint trunk lid
- paint both bumpers.
And in general, almost all elements of the car have jambs, although many of them have been painted more than once. Of course, you can grease the little things, but it will look like you know what? Like acne on a girl smeared with foundation (guys will understand, girls continue to think that we don’t notice them :))

From old age, the sealing gum of the windshield and rear window have already crumbled. It looks like an old and drunk bum who is again looking for vodka. The spectacle, I tell you, is not the most pleasant.

We open the hood.
And we immediately see that the owner of this car is an office worker, a clerk. Why did I decide so? Probably because in real life I see paper clips only somewhere in offices. Since it would be ugly with a stapler, paper clips solved the issue.
Here we see that the owner of the car knows how to use self-tapping screws. And they elegantly hold both headlights to keep them from falling out in a corner. And there are rumors that these BMWs drive well! Unfortunately, when BMW is about 15 years old, all it does well is suck money. And here you can even draw parallels with a beautiful girl! Only people are ready to spend money on it until its beauty has faded, but with cars everything is different ...
I posted a photo with a “blaster” for a reason. It is in this place that there is putty. What's there? The seam? And you will never know, and neither will I. But this is not pleasant...
Well, automatic transmission tubes in oiling ... although there is a lot in oiling ...

Motor - M54B30. Is he good or bad? He may have been good before, but now it is difficult to say how he will ride and whether he will be at all. The seller has already replaced the timing chain, replaced the valve stem seals and made some revision of the motor. And this means that some of the sores of this engine are selected. This is not JZ, here you need to constantly invest, and has anyone ever seen someone not snotty on the BMW engine?
But let's be objective and just open the oil filler cap. Do you see this soot? It smacks of Castrol, right? :) But you must also understand that since everything is so on top, then everything is the same inside, and maybe worse. Did they actually do something with the motor, or did they just say? This we will never know. There is only one way to find out the state of the engine - to disassemble it!
There were many different and small oilings. In fact, nothing can be disassembled ...

The front optics, although factory, are 14 years old and look like barley. Do you remember how barley is treated in Russia? They spit on him and show him the fig!
I don’t even want to talk about gaps ... what gaps can there be in a car that has been broken 150 times? Finger won't go through? So it's ok. Meanwhile, the sealing gum near the headlights also crumbled, and now you can twist a nest in the gap between the hood and the headlight!
I’ll be honest, with all this, there is almost no putty on the body, but we’ll come back to this again ... But the hood seems to be even aluminum, however, it’s just putty, and traces of repair can be seen with the naked eye.

I didn't take many pictures, so watch the video. Mirrors, they are, which is not bad. On the left, though, a piece is missing, and on the right, the paint has peeled off. But can that stop you from buying a BMW?
Right front door with a jam on the bottom. All openings of the car are painted. But if there are openings without putty, then the front pillar on the right side is putty. To find out for 100% a piece of another car is welded there, or they just threw putty on a jam, I can’t need paranormal abilities for this, and I’m just a person. You have to take everything apart and see. There is also a dent on the middle pillar on the same side. And the car got everywhere ... a jam is also visible under the hood (watch the video). The "pregnant man" light is on the dash. And the pillows in the right front door have long been gone, but I'm just not sure about the rest.
Imagine that there is not a single body element with factory sealant. I explain. Native bodywork turns out, no! And you could buy a used door and its sealant would be factory. But here the doors have already been replaced, and they have already been painted more than once. Look at the chip, you can see another layer of paint there. I remembered a similar situation with my friend's apartment, which he bought on the secondary market. He took off the wallpaper, and under them the newspapers. He took off the newspapers, and under them more newspapers. And here it is similar.

Needless to say, the whole car was repainted by different people, and not once and entirely. And the color of the car is "chameleon". You can see one shade on the left, another on the right, and a third on the back. But it's a BMW! Everything may not be so frank for an unknowing person, but too frank for those who know how to distinguish shades. How would 50 shades of gray turn out, and how in the movie with this car there will be “love”. But who will love whom, you can find out only after the purchase.
And that's the main reason why people want to buy these cars. Salon!

Damn it, he's full of piss, as you like to say. He is no longer the same as he was 10 years ago. But after Priora, people just get high, even from such a state.
White skin is beautiful. But taking care of her is another story... and almost always she is dirty, especially in the conditions of Chelyabinsk with thousands of factories, and even the construction of a mining and processing plant. And for me, all this already looks very sad ... even plastic will already peel off ... German "quality" VS Russian people = Russian people win.

The driver's seat for 10-11 owners looks good even. Oh, I forgot to tell you. The car was imported from Europe in 2006, after that it had 9 owners only in Russia. The car drove in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Adygea, in the Krasnodar Territory, and maybe somewhere else, I only write what I could dig up in various sources. And add 1-2 more Germans there.

All the buttons of the car are already worn out, although it cannot be said that the interior is firewood, but the car has not ceased to be firewood from this. And even the ventilation of the seats still works, as does the navigation. Cool? For a 14 year old BMW, this is clearly a success!
Do you like Caspian cargo?

What surprised me was that the electrics all worked. It is amazing! I do not always see a working electrician on more recent BMWs!

Summary of the inspection.
You know, I didn't take a lot of pictures. For example, how the paint burst in the driver's doorway. Where and what kind of jam in the face of the car. That the rubber didn't last long. In general, only during the inspection, I found out that the buyer did not even call the seller, and he has no idea about the 9 owners. And in general, let's be objective, in my opinion, this is rubbish ... soldered headlights, all in jambs, there is no security, almost all hinged iron without putty, but there are openings in it. And so on and so forth ... if you look further, you can find a lot, this is a BMW that is more than 10 years old, only this phrase means - 99% of the bucket. On the other hand, at the price of a new Priora, what else could be a BMW?
On the move without big breaks. But I'm 100% sure the chassis is not ideal. And if she doesn’t rattle, then she’s on the way, because the seller didn’t do the chassis (in his words). And many will say that the technique is serviceable, well, or not quite the same ghoul, but I will finish the little things myself! But no one does anything, as practice shows. You do one thing, then you have to do another. And so endlessly. And in the end, you only support it on the go and nothing more.
I call the buyer, I explain it all, and I hear - would you advise me to buy it?
Well, how can you advise to buy a car with 9 owners, all repainted and more than once, without pillows and in jambs? Are there people who can advise? That's what all the friends said to the buyer, these cars are rubbish! But he told me this phrase - I WANT BMW! But it seems like I managed to explain to him that he looked for something else, maybe there is a better condition. That's all.

A small amount of time passes, I look at the traffic police website, the car is registered and now it has 10 owners. I'm calling the seller. Sold? Sold. To whom? To your client.
Everyone asks for advice or my opinion, is it worth taking or not? And you say NO! And they still buy it. Why ask then?
Moreover, just buying it is wrong. Although they threw him 50 tr, and the car stood at 500 tr. But it was necessary to inspect the car from below, since I was going to pick it up. After all, there is often a lot to see! Traces of repair, how it was broken, what flows, how the chassis lives there, and so on. But none of this was done...

How many hours will the new owner of this car enjoy this purchase? Remember, at the beginning of the post I wrote who buys these cars - bloggers to collect signatures. Knowledgeable and understanding people, but they are looking for good cars. Young people and those who have only one phrase in their heads - I WANT BMW. A typical example. I'll buy it no matter what!

We live in an era of expensive cars, beautiful heifers and show-offs! But a wheelbarrow will not add to your show-off, and understanding people, on the contrary, will laugh at you when you drive a killed BMW. And having bought a German at the price of a new Priora or a used Solaris, you do not look successful. You look like a fool for the most part. Think about it. The only German that can be bought for 500 tr in good condition is Opel. But is he German? And what to do with rotten glass, huh, potter27? :)
And as you can see, even such firewood is bought and sold. And it seems to me that all 9 owners of this car were without eyes! And the car was never sold at the price of scrap. The BMW badge works wonders! This is a German, not a remnant of the Japanese, right guys? But in six months, this car may not drive at all, and at the first small accident it will fall apart to hell, but everyone believes that he will be lucky and this will not happen to him.

BMW E60. Ponty or a good car?
Personally, my opinion is that there are no show-offs here, and the car is no longer here. To make something worthwhile out of it will not work, there is no body. Understand one! You can't make candy out of shit. Don't believe? Poop on a newspaper and then make poop food and then eat it. Weak? So it is with cars. Junk will never be a good car! And to make a car out of such a sample, you need a lot of money and man-hours. It can be written and harsh, but very clear and intelligible. I have seen very few projects completed in my life. But I saw a lot of ambition and cars that ride on their knees.
Without money, all projects become a burden and are forgotten about. 124 Akaki, 4 years have already passed, and what could a man without money do with her? Paint the body?
And people who build a house with a salary of 25,000 rubles, in how many thousands of years will they be able to complete it even theoretically?
Everything in this life has an end. And the closer the end is, the more I want to live. The more I want to take something old and restore it. But just use a calculator and common sense! And it's never worth buying anything, just because it's itchy in one place. Do smart things!

For today I have everything. Good luck to the 10th owner of this car. So, are there any good BMW E60s? And if you are from Chelyabinsk, show it to me? Peace for everyone.

PS: such garbage that I could not go anywhere except the engine with diagnostics. There are no errors on dvs. What else is there, I don’t know ... it’s a long time to explain everything, there’s no need to look for the guilty here, I just couldn’t go anywhere.

When the BMW X6 (E71) SUV hit the market for the first time in 2007, the entire auto world was more or less speechless. Most motorists did not like the design of the car (in those years), in combination with its unusual body. For this very reason, BMW in those years received a lot of critical reviews for a new extraordinary car model. But contrary to all the forecasts of experts, this crossover of the X6 series has become popular throughout the automotive world. Ultimately, at this point in time, there is an increased demand for this car around the world, and even for used models of this car. Today we will try to talk with our reader about this X6th series of cars. Let's find out together how much this BMW auto-crossover is in the back of the E71, as well as whether it is worth buying it (X6) in a used condition.

In the history of the entire automotive industry, BMW traditionally demonstrates its courage to the market from time to time, presents bold and extraordinary solutions in the technology of creating cars that, contrary to many forecasts, literally turn the entire world car market upside down. For example, it is enough to recall the appearance after the Great Patriotic War of eight-cylinder units (motors) from the company "BMW", two-door auto-sedans, as well as the recent appearance on the market of electric cars whose body is made of carbon fiber) to understand that the Bavarian car company can literally with from zero to come up with and develop new ideas and instantly occupy an unoccupied niche in the automotive world.

This is exactly what happened with the BMW X6 auto-crossover in the back of the E71, where the company's engineers used and implemented the most daring auto-solutions. Thus, in 2007, the Bavarians introduced the world to a new crossover in the body, which combined both a four-door hatchback and a coupe, and at the same time also had a large rear trunk lid.

The X6 model was based and created on the basis of the X5 auto-crossover in the back of the E70, which also began to be produced in the same 2007.

It is worth noting the following immediately here, when the X6 model entered mass production, BMW had rather high investment risks at that moment, since it did not know in advance how the public itself would react to this car, since this SUV (E71) opened essentially a new class of cars in the entire global car market.

So the management of the Munich company must be given credit for their courage and self-confidence, which were necessary when deciding to launch a new class of cars.

Thus, in the end, starting in 2007, a new class of sports crossovers with four-door bodies appeared on the global car market. For a long time, the Bavarians had no competitors and they got all the cream of the car market. But over time, competing models gradually began to appear on the car market. True, the latter could not take away market share from BMW and move it.

But recently, the world-famous Mercedes-Benz company, which apparently waited and studied the success of the X6 model car for a long time, decided in fact to copy this very type of crossover and release its new one.

Time will show how competition will develop in this segment. But regardless of the outcome of this battle, BMW has certainly already written itself (company name) in the history of the entire automotive industry, as the pioneer of a new segment of premium sports crossovers.

BMW X6: Pros of a fastback coupe crossover.

Obviously, the BMW X6 was not created for the tasks for which the X5 auto-crossover was invented. Although the X6 model was based on the X5 crossover. It has the same load capacity, the same ground clearance (220mm ground clearance), the same active all-wheel drive system, and so on. and so on.

The main differences between the cars are inside the cabin in the back row of seats. A special difference (difference) between the X5 and X6 models was noticeable in cars manufactured from 2008 to 2010. So, during this period of time, all cars of the X6 model (in their rear part) had only two separate passenger seats, a triple seat in an auto-crossover (as in the X5 model) began to be installed only from 2011. That is, until 2011 this was (considered) a four-seater car.

Nevertheless, despite the fact that the restyled X6 model has become a five-seater, it does not have so much space for rear passengers compared to the X5 model, which certainly affects the very comfort of the rear passengers. It's all about the sloping roof of the X6, which smoothly descends (transfers) to the trunk lid of the car. As a result, it turns out that it is simply not worth putting too tall passengers in the back seat of the car, since it will be extremely inconvenient for them to be in the car.

But the main disadvantage of the body of the X6 auto model is not that its rear passengers do not feel very comfortable during the trip, the main disadvantage of the X6 is the visibility of this car. Unlike the X5 model, where visibility behind the wheel is more or less normal, in the X6 car, the driver will already be extremely uncomfortable when parking the car due to this body shape and because of the very small rear window.

It is for this very reason that in the X6 auto-crossover, unlike the X5 model, even in the basic configuration, parking sensors are installed that help the driver to see when reversing. As an option, the X6 model is equipped with a rear-view camera, which displays a rear view video on the screen of the infotainment system. Unlike sound parking sensors, such a video review on the center console screen has become much more convenient.

Are used BMW X6 reliable (including those with high mileage).

Despite the incomprehensible and various reviews on the Internet coming from drivers who, apparently, have never owned BMW cars, we must still admit that the X6 auto-crossover is quite reliable and of high quality for its class of cars. And by and large, if taken as a whole, then this is the same BMW X5 model car. We studied various reviews on the BMW forums and interviewed many "servicemen" with a specific goal, to find out from them which model (year of manufacture) of the X6 brand is the most unpretentious in the process of its maintenance.

As a result, we found out that the most trouble-free cars are diesel car models (xDrive 30d, xDrve 40d).

As for the gasoline engines installed on these models of cars, many auto repairers have complaints about them in Russia. According to some reports, for most owners of X6 gasoline cars, after 100 - 200 thousand km, the engine starts to “eat” oil at a frantic pace, and this happens due to partial wear of the internal components of the power units. As experts say, the design features of BMW gasoline engines are to blame for everything, poor-quality engine oil, poor-quality by itself, and too long an interval between scheduled maintenance (technical inspections).

Recall that scheduled maintenance of BMW cars does not take place when a strictly defined mileage is reached, but only after the car's computer indicates the need to contact the service. As a result, it is not uncommon for owners of Bavarian cars to apply for maintenance with a mileage of more than 15 thousand km, which does not have the best effect on the state of the power unit, which does not like oil starvation and the loss of its chemical properties.

Of course, from time to time, angry reviews about broken timing chains, extinct turbines, etc. appear on various channels and on the BMW forums. breakdowns But believe us, the number of such real reviews is not so great in relation to the number of X5 and X6 cars sold in Russia. According to some available data (an anonymous survey of official BMW dealers in Russia), only approximately 3% of all owners of BMW X5 and X6 cars encountered problems that concerned the engine at a range of up to 120 thousand km. True, with a car mileage from 120 to 200 thousand km, such owners have already turned out to be almost 7% of all serviced crossovers at stations at a car dealer.

Despite the fact that there are actually some design features of BMW engines, which, if you are not attentive to the engine, can result in significant serious problems and costly repairs, on the roads of Russia today you can find a lot of cars of the X5 and X6 models (E70, E71) with mileage exceeding 180 thousand km or more, which still do not have even the slightest signs of a malfunction in the engine.

So it is impossible to say that the engines installed on the BMW X6 are very unreliable, and this is wrong. After reading reviews on the forum for any brand or model of car, you can see and find in them exactly the same number of angry reviews about the unreliability of this product. For some cars, you can see a much larger percentage of problems with powertrains than the same Bavarian car brand.

Quality and reliability of the BMW X6 (E71) suspension.

Unlike the engines installed on the X6 models, which rarely have big and small problems, there are certain questions about the very quality and reliability of the running gear of this SUV.

The most common problems in this car, which are written about in many auto forums, or which auto repairmen directly talk about at official BMW dealerships, are: - poor durability of the front suspension and quite frequent factory defects in some parts of the car.

According to statistics, about 15% of all X6 owners are faced with problems with the front stabilizer, tie rod and even axle wear. And this can happen (happen) already on a run of up to 70 thousand km.

Usually these and similar problems when buying a new car occur mainly during the warranty period set by the automaker and they are usually eliminated.

Unfortunately, due to some design features of the machine, if you buy yourself a used X6 that has long been out of factory warranty, you should be prepared for the fact that you may encounter these problems described in the front suspension of the machine.

Also, due to the increased load in the front suspension (especially if you drive the X6 constantly at high engine speeds and fly turns at high speed), this load on the front levers will quite often disable the salint blocks and ball tips of the machine.

This is your payback for the amazing steering and good comfort behind the wheel of the X6. And please do not forget that this car, in its principle, was not created for comfort, but in order to ride (compete) with someone on the road to race.

Always remember that the BMW X6 itself will constantly provoke you to speed up. This car will not allow you to drive it calmly and leisurely. Naturally, from here, with active movement, get ready to change tires more often, which will cost you a tidy sum.

Another disadvantage of this car (X6) is the cost of the Casco policy itself, where the price is formed not only from a certain percentage of the market value of the car. Typically, such insurance for a BMW X6 car is not cheap, and this is primarily due to the fact that this auto-crossover is in good demand among the hijackers themselves.

Who buys used BMW X6 more often.

BMW X5 owners are basically the most loyal and worthy fans of the brand "BMW" for which, in principle, no other car brands exist anymore. More than half of the car owners who bought new or used cars of the BMW X6 brand have previously owned other cars of this Bavarian brand. Also, about 2/3 of all these BMW owners in the future will still remain loyal to the original German brand.

And yet, half of those who currently own the first generation of X6 cars are interested in buying the second generation of BMW X6 cars in the future. The other half of its owners (X6) are eyeing the purchase in the future of an already cheaper (used) version, X4 model cars or a model crossover.

Yes, there is also a very small part of BMW X6 owners who, for some reason of their own, in the future will simply abandon a BMW brand car and purchase Porsche products (for example, Macan and Cayenne cars) or Mercedes (for example, stamps , or ). But these are, as a rule, those owners who have previously purchased new X6 cars for themselves and have revised their views on the car market during their ownership.

But still, the majority of BMW X6 car owners in some magical and unknown way will remain loyal to the BMW auto brand and for the most part will continue to change their crossovers to the same brand of car, but in a more recent version.

Outcome.

If you are still seriously considering the BMW X6, then be prepared for frequent maintenance of the car, which will cost you a large amount. Still, this car is a premium SUV and its MOT (maintenance) as well as the cost of spare parts cannot be cheap.

The BMW X6, like most of the premium models of the Bavarian brand, are high-tech sophisticated vehicles, they constantly need careful attention to themselves and to all components of the car.

Be prepared to invest a lot of money in your vehicle so that it (your crossover) is always in excellent condition and never lets you down. Otherwise, this car (BMW X6) will only upset you.

It is important to know:

Also forget about changing the oil on a run of 10 - 15 thousand km. The oil will have to be changed almost every 7-8 thousand km, since its quality in our country today leaves much to be desired. And do not forget that in Russia today, in principle, there is no high-quality fuel that could be compared with European fuel. And all this ultimately significantly affects the condition of the engines installed on BMW cars. So you need to remember that frequent oil changes are a guarantee that your car's engine will cover more than 200 thousand km.

The cost of owning a used BMW X6.

In our editorial office, we calculated how much it would cost to own this car for 3 years if you buy a 5-year-old car in a used car market.

We want to note right away that if you buy a diesel model of a car, then in fact, in fact, due to the low fuel consumption of a diesel engine, alas, you will not be able to save money. The point here is that X6 cars with diesel engines are much more expensive than their gasoline "brothers" (analogues). Ultimately, it will take 3 or 4 years to recoup the overpayment for a car when buying it (a used car) (this is with a small mileage every year). Also, please note that the cost of scheduled maintenance of a car, especially in certain cases, is much more expensive than the same X6 gasoline models.

So you can sum it up, in essence, BMW diesel crossovers give you some imaginary savings for a while, but in the process of their operation, the owner of this diesel car will sooner or later realize that in the end, over a long period of operation of the car, he significantly overpaid for the maintenance of his SUV, if he compares all the expenses of the same owner of the X6 gasoline model.

Let's roughly calculate together what the cost of owning a used BMW X6 bought on the Russian car market will be.

Let's take a used diesel (xDrive 30d) (E71) 2010 release, with a mileage of about 135 thousand km.

Let's assume that every year you will drive approximately 20,000 km on average (that's 54 km per day).

The average fuel consumption of this car model in the city, according to the factory specification, is 8.7 liters per 100 kilometers, on the highway (highway) - 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers, in mixed mode the crossover consumes - 7.4 liters per 100 kilometers. In reality, take our word for it, this expense is much higher, on average by 20 - 30%. Let's calculate, according to the factory specifications, how much it will take to spend each year on diesel fuel to fill this diesel BMW X6.

It turns out the following, in order to drive 20 thousand km (this is in 1 year), you will need approximately 1480 liters of diesel fuel. According to today's (average) prices at gas stations, it turns out that every year you will need to spend 54 thousand 760 rubles on diesel fuel (on average - 150 rub/day).

But again, this calculation will be valid only for 2016. In the future, this fuel will only rise in price due to natural high inflation in the country and, of course, due to an increase in excise taxes on the fuel itself.

The fifth generation model was produced from 2006 to 2011. According to many car owners and some market experts, this is one of the best cars in this class. Is it so?

The car appeared at the end of 2005 as a 2006 model. Traditionally, the car was offered with different versions of powertrains. The models 325i (3.0 liters, 215 hp) and 330i (3.0 liters, 255 hp) deserve the most attention. Both engines are paired with both a six-speed gearbox and an automatic transmission.

The Bavarians also offered xDrive all-wheel drive.

In 2007, new engines with turbochargers appeared in the engine line. So instead of the 325i, the 328i model appeared, with a capacity of 230 hp, and in place of the 330i car, the 335i model came, with a capacity of 300 hp.

In the same year, coupe and convertible versions appeared, which were also available, both with all-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

In 2008, BMW introduced the 335i coupe.

In 2009, sedans received updates in the form of reystaling. Also this year, a powerful diesel 335d appeared, which was equipped with a twin-turbo diesel power unit with a capacity of 265 hp. and a maximum torque of 576 Nm. Including engineers have improved the infotainment system by introducing iDrive, which has become easier to manage thanks to ergonomics.

In 2010, the car received some changes in the interior. In 2011, the convertible and coupe received a light reystaling. Also, the engine in the 335i models has become more economical.

Body shapes:

From 2006 to 2011, the car was presented in four body styles. The E90 is known as a rear-wheel drive sedan equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic transmission.

E91 - station wagon. For example, the 325xi model, which was introduced to the market until 2007. Subsequently, the 328 car came to replace the model.

E92 - coupe body. E93 - convertible. These cars have distinct styling from traditional 3-series sedans and station wagons. Including the coupe and convertible came with HID.

Three reasons to buy:

1. Performance- The 3-series is known for its excellent handling, with good power.

Balanced weight distribution and rear-wheel drive help the car maintain perfect traction. Optimum vehicle behavior is achieved if a powerful engine is installed under the hood. Plus, the excellent dynamics of a powerful engine will not let even the most sophisticated motorist get bored behind the wheel. So the 335i accelerates from 0-100km/h in 5 seconds. Model 328i also has a good acceleration from zero to hundred kilometers per hour - 6.5 seconds.

2. All-weather operating conditions- Since virtually any 3-series model can be equipped with all-wheel drive, this allows you to get a premium all-wheel drive sedan for little money, which leaves behind many competitors in the car market.

3. Luxury class- The 3 Series is still a luxury sedan, despite its price tag. The car can have a high-quality leather interior, wood trim, navigation and other nice expensive bonuses. In addition, the car has a classic original appearance that attracts the eye on the road.

Three reasons against buying:

1. Engine- Turbocharging in 3-series is usually linked to .

The biggest problem is with the high pressure fuel pump. In the used market, most cars have problems with this component of the car. As a rule, if there are problems with the pump, the engine does not run smoothly at idle, the engine is too loud. In addition, there are often problems with the valve timing system - VANOS, which most of all fails on turbocharged BMW engines. VANOS-related sensors can become clogged with dirt, causing the engine to run unevenly, which can later lead to costly repairs if not cleaned in time.

2. electrical problems- The most common problem with the 3-series is the battery. So the battery positive cable can become damaged over time and conduct shorted current, as a result of which melting can begin on the fuse box. In the future, the machine may harden at the most inopportune moment. There are also problems with the ignition key, when, despite the fact that the key is in the ignition lock, the steering wheel lock is not removed. This is due to a factory defect in the steering column.

3. Noise- Many owners of used BMW 3-series often complain about minor annoying vibration noises and knocks due to insufficient soundproofing of the car.

Before you buy:

It is clear that if you are going to buy a used one, you must have a considerable financial budget for car maintenance and for its current repairs. Before buying, make sure that the car is in a decent technical condition to avoid unexpected and costly problems in the future. Many cars on the used market have not been serviced by an authorized dealer, and do not have the appropriate marks in the service book. We advise you not to mess with such vehicles. If the car was serviced at the office. dealer, then make sure that it has passed all routine maintenance at the service.
