Starting from 2018, the production of the model will be launched at the plant in Nizhny Novgorod, which will expand the number of layout options.

In terms of luggage space, the new Skoda Kodiak is one of the leaders in the segment. With a five-seat configuration, the cargo compartment of the SUV is ready to accommodate 650 liters, and with the rear seats folded down - all 2065 liters. The seven-seat version has a slightly more modest capacity: the base 270 liters can be transformed into a maximum of 2005 liters.

In addition to the standard suspension (front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link), the crossover can be equipped with an adaptive DCC chassis.

Skoda KODIAQ 2018-2019 model year is a full-size crossover with a ground clearance increased to 187 mm, a spacious 5-seater interior and a record luggage compartment volume (2065 liters with the seats folded in the second row). Skoda Kodiak is equipped with powerful economical engines 1.4 (125- or 150-horsepower) or 2.0 (150- or 180-horsepower) with a maximum torque (depending on modification) from 200 to 320 Nm. As a fuel, the car uses gasoline (octane rating - at least 95) and diesel (unit with a volume of 2.0 and a power of 150 hp).

SUVs are equipped with a 6-speed manual or preselective robotic gearbox. Transmission DSG 6- or 7-speed. The lineup of new vehicles includes models with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The front and rear suspensions of the crossover are independent.

Auto dynamics

Skoda KODIAQ is capable of a top speed of up to 207 km/h. In various modifications of the car, the acceleration time to 100 km/h is 8–10.5 s. The fuel consumption of the Skoda Kodiak is 6.8–9.1 liters (urban cycle) and 5.2–6.4 liters (extra-urban cycle).

“Simply Smart” is the slogan of the Czech concern, and it is most suitable for a definition stuffed with “smart” options for the new representative of Skoda, the first seven-seat crossover, called Kodiaq.

Literally all the constructive and design solutions, as well as the parameters of the technical characteristics of the Skoda Kodiak, starting from large dimensions (for example, its length is about 4.7 m).

Engines

As for the power plants of the Skoda Kodiak, or as it is also called Kodiak, these are two versions of a four-cylinder engine with different volumetric parameters, either 1.395 or 1.984 liters.

These volumetric performance characteristics are usually rounded off and they are indicated in the designation, for example, if for a gasoline turbo engine, then 1.4 sti, and if a turbodiesel is meant, then 2.0 tdi.

As for gasoline engines, the fuel for them is gasoline not lower than the 95th octane number.

It should be noted that both 7 and 5 local, as well as all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive versions of crossovers are produced, so they have their own power plant configurations. In total, there are 5 modifications of gasoline engines.

In Europe, the crossover is available from five motors: three petrol and two diesel. In the basic version, the front-wheel drive SUV will receive a unit 1.4 TSI (125 hp) and six-speed "mechanics". In more expensive versions, the all-wheel drive Kodiaq will be equipped with 1.4 liter supercharged motor ( 150 HP) and DSG6. An assistant when maneuvering with a trailer, reading road signs, helping to keep the car on the lane in conjunction with tracking neighbors on the highway, and similar "accomplices" make driving, if not absolutely safe, then as close as possible to it.

Adaptive suspension "Dynamic Chassis Control" allows you to ride in three modes - Normal, Comfort, Sport. All-wheel drive versions will be equipped with the fourth - off-road, which adjusts literally the entire chassis for off-road.

With its not impressive size (a direct analogue of the Volkswagen Tiguan, 4.7 m), the Skoda Kodiak will have a record large trunk. With the second row of seats folded down, the crossover has a volume of 2065 liters(!) That is 400 liters more than its German competitor.

On the day when all schoolchildren went to school on the first day, September 1, 2016, an automobile company from the Czech Republic, in the German city of Berlin, officially demonstrated its new mid-size Skoda Kodiak SUV. The car was publicly presented in October at the booth of the International Paris Motor Show.

The car got its name in honor of one of the species of brown bears. The new crossover took a niche one step above the Yeti and was able to make itself known with a catchy appearance and huge interior space, and was also able to get 5 turbocharged power units. The entire range of Skoda.

Exterior

The appearance of the new Czech crossover Skoda Kodiak 2016 was carried out in a strict manner, but this did not negatively affect its style and originality. The design staff of Skoda did not deviate far from the very initial lines and proportions that were laid down in the VisionS concept car, so the production model turned out to be extremely close to the prototype.

The front part of the novelty stands out, albeit not very large, but noticeable radiator grille, where there are double vertical slats that form a three-dimensional effect. The narrowish headlights that join from the sides are complemented by bright ribbons of LED running lights and individual compact light blocks located slightly below.

The massive "mouth" of the air intake has spread across the entire width of the bumper, which adds to the car a certain solidity and reliability. The car itself has body overhangs, in front this figure is 898 mm, and in the rear 1,009 mm. There is also a sloping roofline, a compact rear and square wheel arches that can accommodate light alloy rollers from 17 to 19 inches.

Next comes the TSI gasoline power unit, with a volume of 2.0 liters with an exhaust manifold built into the aluminum cylinder block, combined power supply, a turbine and phase shifters on 2 camshafts. It already produces about 180 horsepower.

It transmits torque to the wheels through a 7-speed DSG and an all-wheel drive system. 7.8 seconds, exactly how long it will take the car to reach the mark of 100 km / h, and the top speed will be 206 km / h. It consumes about 7.3 liters of gasoline in the combined cycle.

Transmission

The all-wheel drive system is implemented on the Kodiak according to the standard scheme for crossovers - the 5th generation electronically controlled Haldex hydraulic multi-plate clutch supplies power to the rear wheels. When conditions are favorable, 100% of torque goes to the front, and when the situation on the road changes, traction will be automatically distributed between the axles.

Despite the fact that the car has an all-wheel drive system and there is a pretty decent ride height, the off-road performance of the car is not the best plan. For example, the angles of entry and exit of the Czech crossover are no more than 22 and 23 degrees.

Chassis

As a base for the Skoda Kodiak, there is an MQB front-wheel drive base and independent suspension on all axles, where McPherson struts go in front, and a 4-link system with transverse stabilizers “in a circle” in the back. There is a lot of free space on the second row and three people can sit there, but people sitting on the sides will feel more comfortable. The third row can even accommodate a couple of adults. The luggage compartment has a good supply of volume, which, if necessary, can be increased by folding the third row and the backs of the second row of seats.

The power units, although not the same as sports cars, perform their tasks well and an almost 2-ton car moves briskly on the road. It is worth noting the low fuel consumption. The all-wheel drive system will make you feel more confident on the road, especially when its quality suffers.

In its confident place, ensuring the proper level of safety not only for the driver, but also for the passengers sitting next to him.
