Sylvia s14. Sports coupe Nissan Silvia in S14 and S15 bodies

Sylvia s14. Sports coupe Nissan Silvia in S14 and S15 bodies

But in fact, under the formidable appearance of the "American" looking at you from the screen, there is a car from ... the opposite end of the world - Nissan Silvia S14.

New acquaintance

Maxim Tvardovsky of Fail Crew, the owner of Sylvia, is a well-known figure in motorsport circles. A Russian drifter who has traveled all over Europe and participated in so many foreign competitions that none of our other pilots have gone through. His racing journey began back in 2008, when he bought a magnificent Nissan Skyline R34 without even having the slightest idea about this discipline. On the machine and with the factory engine RB25DET.

It was a great car that Max was crazy about, and as drifting knowledge grew, it changed accordingly. From a completely stock car "Sky" lived to the state of an exclusively racing car with a roll cage, a powerful engine, a sports suspension and other sports arsenal. In this form, loaded onto a trailer, he visited and "distributed corners" at all significant European events, including the famous Gatebil in Norway. So the glorious story would have continued if in 2014 the car had not decided to seriously break down. It was then that Maxim came up with the idea to try a completely different car in drifting instead of repairing the Skyline. It was she who turned out to be the Nissan Silvia S14 from our today's story.

In truth, at the time of purchase, the car was already prepared for drifting in full: it had a safety cage and other attributes that the technical commissioner certainly pays attention to at any race. In addition, the car, and in the engine compartment there was a magnificent LS7 engine - a V-shaped 8-cylinder monster with a volume of 7.2 liters. The suspension also did not go unnoticed and was assembled on the components of the famous company Wisefab. Dream, not a car! I would ride and ride this one, but this path is not for Max. It was decided to refine the Nissan so that it would certainly and instantly stand out from the crowd of bright fireballs at any event.

The boss decides

The latest body kit from Rocket Bunny with the telling name Boss came to the rescue. It is he who misleads the uninformed public, passing off a Japanese car as a design masterpiece of American manufacturers of the 60s of the last century. Here we will make a small digression, which we will devote directly to this body kit, as it literally alarmed the tuning community by offering Silvius owners something that no one had offered before.

Toyo R1R tires front and Westlake rear

Wheels 7Twenty 18x9.5 front and 7Twenty 18x10.5 rear

So, this is Boss from the famous studio Rocket Bunny. Despite the exclusively American style, this body kit comes from Japan, and its creator - Miura-san - decided not only to offer customers a couple of additional overlays on the body, but to radically change the style of the entire car. The front of the car actually changes completely - bumper, hood, fenders, headlights. The decision, of course, is very bold, but the effect was colossal. Interestingly, for each client, the updated appearance of his Sylvia will resemble what he wants: someone Chevrolet Camaro, someone Ford Mustang Boss 302, and someone Plymouth Barracuda, which, according to rumors, was inspired by Miura-san to create your fantastic creation. In addition to the front end, the kit includes door sills, arch extensions with an unusually puffy shape for these parts, as well as a classic duck tale spoiler. As a result, only a knowledgeable person can recognize the Silvia S14 under the new attire, for everyone else it is a muscle car originally from the USA. To complete the image in the car of Maxim Tvardovsky, the roaring V8 inherent in these monsters of the last century with a characteristic, incomparable exhaust sound also works. Being the original, and not a common replica, Rocket Bunny Boss almost perfectly stood on the Japanese body, changing the “ugly”, according to the owner, S14 at once.

Attention to technology

At the time of the exterior improvements, they decided to shake up the engine too: now it breathes deeply through the Jenvey multi-throttle intake, forged valves and custom camshafts work inside, and the Peterson dry sump oil supply system is responsible for uninterrupted oil supply in the most severe racing conditions. The cooling system, contrary to the tendency to transfer the radiator to the luggage compartment, is in its original place and consists of an electric pump instead of a native and enlarged radiator. Running on 102-m gasoline, the monster makes heartbreaking sounds that can literally be recorded on a disc and listened to at home - it is so good. By the way, he consumes this fuel with great appetite, therefore, in order to prevent the outflow of gasoline in long turns, in addition to the racing 20-liter tank, a small anti-drain was installed.

Setting up the machine through the Adaptronic control unit made it possible to squeeze out 600 wheel forces and 830 Nm of torque from the power plant. Under such power and transmission is appropriate - a G-Force cam gearbox, an ACT clutch and a gearbox from the Nissan Skyline R32 GTR. To say that the car turned out fast - to say nothing. A fast car needs a quality suspension. The new body kit did not allow the use of the Wisefab front suspension, so only Wisefab parts were left behind, and Max components were installed in front. Now there are Feal coilovers with specially selected springs during extensive tests.

Charisma and success

The car turned out to be very charismatic: an impressive and, importantly, unusual appearance is backed up by the sound of a true V8. Sylvia literally radiates power and rage - and invariably attracts increased attention. For the first time, Maxim was convinced of the "Rocket Bunny effect" at Gatebil 2016 - this trip was the first for the updated car and showed that, in addition to appearance, it also has huge potential in terms of sports. On the first tests on the track, it became obvious that now there is always enough power, and at the same time the car is controlled informatively and clearly. These observations were reinforced during the entire season of participation in the Russian Drift Series 2016, where Maxim Tvardovsky's Boss was more than confident and allowed the pilot to show decent results.

Nissan Silvia S14

Brief specifications:

The main thing, from the point of view of the competition - the car turned out to be reliable. An inherently simple naturally aspirated engine without whimsical turbines and compressors, new wiring, assembled on the best components - all this allows you to eliminate unnecessary problems and worries during races and focus on piloting. At the moment, "Sylvia" is an absolutely complete, well-prepared drift tool, and therefore Maxim has no plans to change the design - only maintaining the car in proper condition and timely preventive maintenance. And certainly - constant participation in competitions, both Russian and foreign, in which he can be wished good luck.

Nissan Silvia(rus. Nissan Silvia) - a passenger car, made in Japan, by the international company Nissan. Throughout its history, the Silvia has been equipped with a variety of DOHC 4-cylinder engines.

Sixth generation 1995-2000 (S14 body)

Nissan Silvia S14

Silvia S14 debuted in Japan in 1995. Compared to the S13, it was lower and wider. The new rounded design gave the illusion that the car had grown a lot in size, when in fact there was little difference in size from the previous Silvia body. The wheelbase has increased, resulting in improved handling. Unlike export markets where sales of the S14 were low, the Silvia continued to enjoy great popularity in Japan.

In 1996, there was a slight update to the S14: the appearance became more aggressive. Restyling affected the headlights, taillights, hood, fenders, grille and bumpers. The interior has also undergone minor changes. In 2000, this car gave way to the next generation - S15.

Nissan 200sx (Sylvia S14a), left hand drive, dark green (British Racing Green or something like that)), manufactured in 1999, SR20DET, automatic, white leather interior, tax up to 200hp. (6200 rubles per year)
The engine was revised, gaskets were replaced (m / y engine and head, valve cover gasket and candle wells, m / y manifold and turbo, turbo and outlet, outlet and downpipe), caps, oil, antifreeze, all filters.
Turbine alive, does not throw oil, spinning with a bang.
There are no dents, there are only Kotska scratches, chips on the windshield, also from the minuses - the wiper motor and washers do not work, the wiring has frayed (in the process of repair). There are also many app. parts, some I will give with the car for free, some for a fee. There is a manual transmission swap kit, with a car I will give for 20 tons. R.

NISSAN Silvia "AIMOLnia" S14

Rocket Bunny Boss for the Boss!

The most complex and interesting tasks come from sophisticated customers. Such was the order from the head of the Russian Drift Series Dmitry Dobrovolsky: "Build me such a car so that everyone gasps." Becoming the creators of such a project is a responsible task, which required bringing together the best experience in working out every detail of the car.

Three requirements were put forward, although not contradictory, but combined only with very scrupulous work: effective, efficient, reliable.

Meet! "Lightning", as its owner dubbed it.
Spectacular - the body of the Nissan S14 is dressed in a Rocket Bunny Boss v.2 body kit and painted in two colors in the style of sports legends of the real golden era of motorsport in the middle of the 20th century. The look is also defined by 9JJ ET+3 SSR Professor TF1 wheels on the front and 10JJ ET+16 on the rear.

The owner of the newly made car knows a lot about the physics of movement, and the platform was chosen by him after a long analysis of the behavior of the RDS championship cars - "I want it to be Silvia and it allows you to make really sharp shifts", and if so, then this is only a native SR20, with which the S-chassis maintains the balance so necessary for the "Japanese" drift.

In order to build a car for drifting or any other discipline, you need to start with a complete analysis of the "donor", which was done. The body of the S14 was initially sent to the body shop for defects to be identified and repaired, as well as for the preparation and fitting of the body kit, and in parallel with this, suspension components, transmission components and the engine were assembled for installation in the car. The experience gained over the years of operation of such a platform made it possible to determine the complete set of the car even before the start of assembly.

The concept of the car can be defined in one phrase: "classic Silvia for drifting", as all solutions have been tested by us on the tracks from the Smolensk ring to the Japanese Maishima and Ebisu. The suspension is assembled on N1 Suspension levers on the AL, POWEREDBYMAX “knuckles” front and rear, and D-Max shifter struts with remote reservoirs. The list of characteristics obtained includes: a wide range of wheel alignment angles while maintaining the correct suspension geometry in all operating modes, the absence of the slightest backlash and the correct kinematics at large wheel angles. Adaptation to the "hook" on each track will allow for a wide range of settings for compression and rebound stiffness.

The "heart" of this 14 Silvia is, of course, the SR20 with VE cylinder head. Empirically, it was determined that, in terms of power / comfort ratio, the BorgWarner EFR 7670 turbine with the Twin Scroll system is the optimal basis for the turbocharging system. For greater "elasticity", the power unit received an increased volume due to the stroker - 2200cc. Engine output - 500 horsepower and 500 N * m at a boost of 1.3 bar on fuel with an octane rating of 100.

On the way of torque from the flywheel to the rear wheels, there was an OS Giken R3B series 3-plate clutch, a Quaife 6-speed sequential gearbox, and a Skyline GT-R gearbox with a CUSCO Type-RS 2 WAY lockup was installed in the rear of the car. For the first time we used the Quaife gearbox in our projects for several reasons: firstly, English engineers are very fond of SR20 motors, so this gearbox is ideally calculated in terms of gear ratios; secondly, this gearbox has a durable one-piece cast body and can withstand up to 1000 hp. according to the manufacturer; thirdly, 6 gears allow you to effectively use the operating range of the engine, less often resorting to changing the gear ratio. And another important factor is the ease of installation and maintenance, this gearbox is literally bolt-on, which is rare among sequential gearboxes.

AEM INFINITY was chosen as the "brain" of the car - a reliable and functional solution with an excellent price / quality ratio. To fully inform the driver about the status of all engine systems, an AEM CD-7L dashboard was installed, which allows, in addition to the traditional values \u200b\u200bof pressure and temperature of liquids, boost pressure, exhaust gas temperature, to set up warning signals in such a way that they cannot be overlooked even in in the event of overheating or pressure drop, take immediate action. All vehicle electronics work through the MOTEC PDM system and CAN bus.

Whether we got a truly "golden section" - time will tell and the satisfaction of the owner. Follow the performances of "Lightning" and our projects!

Now in the process of purchasing spare parts there are already three projects with a similar depth of refinement. And one of them we will cover almost online.

BMW S14 engine- a four-cylinder piston engine produced for the first generation "M3" since 1986 in several volume options - from 2.0 to 2.5 liters.

Features of the BMW S14 engine

BMW S14B20 engine

This 2-liter version of the engine was developed specifically for the Italian and Portuguese market and was installed on.

Because vehicles over 2.0 liters are subject to high taxes in the above countries, BMW offered a special model with a 192 hp engine that had its stroke shortened to 72.6 mm and was close to the performance of the S14B23.

BMW S14B23 engine

This BMW C14 engine has a larger volume due to the bore of the cylinders and the increased piston stroke, respectively, and greater performance.

The motor was equipped with a catalytic converter and is essentially an S38 motor, only shortened by two cylinders.

By increasing the bore and stroke of the 4-cylinder M10, the volume was increased to 2.3 liters.

The S14B23 engine was produced from 1986 to 1991 and was installed on:

Improved engine model S14EVO2 was equipped with a catalytic converter, an updated intake camshaft and a modified exhaust camshaft. The EVO 2 engine was installed on:

BMW S14B25 engine

The Nissan Silvia is a compact sports car produced by a Japanese company from 1964 to 2002. During this time, seven generations of the model were created, each of which was equipped with 4-cylinder engines with a DOHC gas distribution mechanism.

The sixth generation Nissan Silvia S14 Zenki (sold in the US market as the Nissan 240SX) was introduced in 1995 in Japan. Compared to its predecessor in the back of the S13, the model is wider and lower. The exterior has become more rounded and smooth. The car lost its branded "jumping" headlights, instead of which they installed standard fixed optics.

In 1996, the Nissan Silvia S14 underwent a slight restyling that made the coupe even more aggressive and dynamic. The Japanese changed the shape of the bumpers and replaced the taillights with others. The model received the designation S14a (S14 Kouki)

As power units for the Nissan Silvia C14, several options for four-cylinder gasoline engines were offered. The base is a 2.4-liter aspirated engine with a return of 155 hp.

It is paired with two 2.0-liter turbocharged engines with a return of 200 hp. (from standstill to hundreds in 7.5 seconds) and 250 forces (6.5 seconds). The maximum speed of the S14 coupe, depending on the equipment installed, varies from 190 to 220 km/h. In addition, the car is equipped with a multi-link rear suspension, and an optional limited-slip differential is available.

The seventh generation Nissan Silvia S15 (known in the States as the Nissan 200SX) was introduced on January 16, 1999 in Japan. Externally, the model has changed slightly, having received more aggressive bumpers and lighting equipment, but retaining the same shape.

When creating a novelty, the company's engineers focused on tuning the chassis and increasing the torsional rigidity of the body. The chassis of the Nissan Silvia C15 is completely made of aluminum, which reduced the weight of the car, and individual suspension elements were borrowed from the Nissan Skyline R34.

Under the hood of the basic version of the coupe, a two-liter unit with a return of 165 hp is installed. (192 Nm), and a more powerful 2.5-liter turbocharged engine develops 250 “horses” and 275 Nm. Transmissions for the S15 were taken from the previous generation, but a new six-speed manual was added to them.

The interiors of the Nissan Silvia S14 and S15 share many of the same details. The main element of the coupe interior is the instrument panel, in the center of which there is a large tachometer. Inside the car, a little hard, but comfortable seats and a sports steering wheel were installed.

The price of Nissan Silvia in the secondary market in Russia averages 500-600 thousand rubles. The rather high cost of the model is due to the fact that most of the presented copies were subjected to tuning.

Thanks to its simple design and rear wheel drive, the Nissan Silvia is a popular vehicle. Engines and chassis are easily customizable, which is what the owners of these cars use, redoing everything that is possible and what the budget is enough for.
